McDonalds Christmas Advert Is Reindeer Ready and So Is the Burger Chain | Eater London

"As a Thanksgiving promotion delivered via a major delivery platform, a turducken-inspired burger stacks bacon on top of duck on top of chicken and serves it all in a single bun. The limited-time item is framed as a tongue-in-cheek salute to American excess and the gluttonous spirit of the holiday." - James Hansen

I have revised my original review; I felt it was necessary. Both my friend and I stopped here for lunch because we had heard good things about their burgers. Unfortunately, both of us were very disappointed. The menu claims that the burgers are 1/3 pound, but they are maybe 1/4 at best; I would compare them more to smash patties. Both of us ordered medium burgers and they both came out well done. The burgers were low-quality frozen patties; unseasoned and flavorless. Most other places that serve good burgers in Appleton use fresh hamburgers. Apparently, this place can't be bothered, they can't afford it, or they simply don't care. Our other biggest complaint would be that they don't include a side with their burgers; fries are not very expensive and, at the very least, they should be an included side. The owner, a very mean and disrespectful woman, said most of their customers don't want a side, so they don't include a side because they don't want to waste food. How exactly are they wasting food if they include a side for those who want a side and withhold a side for those who don't? At least include fries as a side option for those who want them; nothing is wasted. Her reasoning for not including a side makes absolutely no sense. let's be honest, they don't include a side because they want to charge you more money. $11 for a frozen burger with no side is ridiculous. I ordered the Beer Dip Badger burger; smashed fried cheese curds, homemade spotted cow beer dip, crispy onion strips, and a pretzel bun. The toppings I received were minimal; three very small onion strips, a few smashed cheese curds, and a sauce that tasted like store-bought thousand island dressings. I was unimpressed. The owner responded to my original review, as I'm sure she will respond to this one, and was extremely hostile and insulting. She basically told me I had no taste and that she was okay with me not being a future customer; the audacity that I would leave a review saying that I did not like my burger. How dare I. She claimed that her burgers were not your average run-of-the-mill burgers and "Look at all the toppings you received", as if toppings are what make a quality burger. I can name a dozen other burger joints in Appleton that have better burgers than the one I had here. I think she is a little full of herself. I had no plans to ever return, but after dealing with the owner, I wouldn't even consider returning. I will, however, make it a point to let everyone I know or meet in the future not to eat here. And P.S. I love Culver's. They have better burgers than this place does.

Google
I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing. We were told the food would take about 30–35 minutes. After ordering at 7pm, we didn’t get our food until around 8:35pm. When I asked about the delay, the bartender admitted she had been wrong about the wait time — then proceeded to “explain how a grill works” to me because their grill is small. The explanation came off as condescending and unnecessary. While she did comp our drinks, that didn’t make up for the poor communication and long wait. If we’d been given an honest estimate upfront, we would have gone somewhere else. Transparency and respect go a long way — unfortunately, we didn’t feel either here. They were able to put our food to-go as requested. Unfortunately I had to ask the status of our food after the 1 hour 20 mark. Picture for reference of our cold, mediocre food that we waiting almost triple the original wait time.

Google
Home Burger Bar is a cool place that slings inventive burgers in addition to the basics. They do the same thing with hot dogs, too. Can't wait to try another. If you try one as well, I'm pretty sure what you'll say, "Now, that's a tasty burger..." Bomb curds and friendly folks, too.

Google
Creative flair for old time classics. Too many to describe. But the daily special garlic was delicious. Maple cream cheese with my fries was a good surprise. Good music but couldn't hear it too much over the crowd. I will be back maybe after a show next door.

Devon K.

Google
The overall experience was great! The Garlic cheese curds were tasty. I loved the sweet potato fries and my burger was excellent. The service was really good as was the atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Home Burger is a nice bar and grill with delicious food and beer options. The Yunegling burger was a delicious and unique option to Wisconsinites.

Brian K.

Google
The food was outstanding. The best burgers I have had in Appleton. The French Onion Burger was great! Great cocktail and beer selection. When you realize that the entire place is run by three people hustling like crazy you can truly appreciate the good service. Also the cleanest bathrooms I have seen in a local pub. I will absolutely go here again to satisfy my need for a good burger!

Josh S.

Google
I only had a snack and a drink but the vibe was great, service was good. Very pleasant experience. I'll be back because I looked at the menu and all the burger options are enticing! I want to try them all now.

Yelp
Home Burger Bar hits the perfect balance of creative comfort food and welcoming service. The Beer Dip Badger with smashed cheese curds are an absolute must they were crispy, melty, and somehow even better when it's dipped in their rich, creamy Spotted Cow beer dip (which should honestly be bottled and sold). The onion strings were another standout, thin, crispy, and piled high like a mountain of fried perfection. Whether you eat them on the side or stacked on a burger, they add that perfect salty crunch. Speaking of burgers: juicy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Great toppings, pretzel buns, and no shortcuts taken. And let's talk about the bar staff friendly, fast, and fun. Huge shoutout to Bailey, who made the experience even better with her great energy and helpful recommendations. She made me feel right at home (pun fully intended). Final Verdict:From the killer curds to the crispy onion strings anll on a burger and top-notch service, Home Burger Bar is everything you want in a go-to spot. I will definitely be back, and I will be asking for Bailey!

Yelp
Home Burger Bar has a nice selection of unique burgers and hot dogs and often has interesting sounding monthly specials. In November 2025 the burger special was the Apple Butter Badger burger, which was a 1/3 pound patty topped with smashed fried cheese curds, sliced apples, apple butter, and wonton strips on a salted pretzel bun. My family and I stopped for dinner so I could give it a try. In addition to the burger I got tater tots. While I don't mind mixing savory and sweet in combos I'm not used to, like having apple on a burger, this particular burger was fine to try once but it's probably not something I'd get again. The apple didn't stand out until the last couple of bites when all I had left was the middle (I eat around the middle first). The wonton strips seemed unnecessary and I would have preferred the pretzel bun without the salt on top. The apple butter was great and stood out in every bite. The tater tots may have been the crunchiest I've ever had and, as someone that has crunch as their favorite food texture, I thoroughly enjoyed them. My wife got the PB&J burger with strawberry jelly and no jalapenos. One kid for the regular Badger burger and the other got just a plain cheeseburger. They also had fries for their side. All of them liked their meals and said they'd get them again. Prices seem super reasonable compared to most other restaurants. The bar area and tables were mostly full, yet our food came out reasonably quick, which was appreciated. Home Burger Bar is a place I'd keep coming back to.

Yelp
Stopped in for a burger late in a Friday night. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, and reasonably priced burgers. They have several unique burger options. We had a Thai burger and a standard cheeseburger. They were both excellent! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
We loved the food! And the shorts/apparel. We will definitely make this a MUST stop next time we're in the area. Reasonably priced burgers and drinks. Great service and typical Wisco bar feel.
google avatar

Cheri B.

Yelp
From the second we walked in, the service was wonderful. She was not only working behind the bar, but she was also waiting on the tables! Lots of people there since it was a downtown location. We started with garlic cheese curds and ranch. You could definitely tell the curds had garlic. I needed a mint afterwards but they were crispy and buttery with a nice squeaky texture. I ordered chicken strips and fries and hubby ordered the cowboy burger. He normally eats his burgers medium rare but they only cook to one temperature. Thankfully it wasn't overcooked and dry. He said the burger didn't have seasoning but had a nice beef flavor. Chicken was run of the mill frozen chicken strips. The whole meal was underwhelming (only worth two stars) but our server gave it the extra star.

Yelp
Swung down to the Green Bay/Appleton area in October '24 to look for a new (to me) car, well, we ended up in new wheels by the time we started to look for a cool burger joint in Appleton (where we got a room for the night). Yelp led us to the Home Burger Bar and we were not disappointed. I'm going to be honest, as I write this review now i only remember that both my partner and I got unique sounding burgers. At first we were a little worried when our burgers came because it was clear that they used premade patties from a distributor. Fortunately, Home understands the assignment if you are going to do that and the toppings are TOP NOTCH quality and you forget that you have a "generic" burger (unseasoned, all cooked to the same temp) in the middle. Honestly, that was straight impressive. The atmosphere of Home is very Midwestern bar, in a bigger city I could see this place being considered "divey," but it was definitely clean, had an appropriate beer list for pairing, and a decent selection of liquor and cocktails. We like to explore, but I have a feeling we'll be back when we decide to chill in Appleton in the future.

Yelp
Love all the fun burger options! I went for the dill pickle burger, it was delicious! The cheese curds were great as well. Love the vibe of the interior - it is clean and fun!
google avatar

Yelp
The burger options are amazing. They were so delicious. I've never seen a crab Rangoon burger before. The service was friendly and speedy. It is a typical bar atmosphere.

Yelp
This is a restaurant we've been meaning to try for quite awhile. When you mention it to people around Appleton, it always gets a good response. We tried it out recently with some friends and enjoyed the experience. The restaurant isn't fancy. It is called a bar for good reason; as it is a bar serving some pretty tasty burgers. We found a table and we're greeted quickly by the bartender. Knowledgeable and friendly, she soon returned with our drink order. We found all of the staff to be welcoming and helpful. The drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. There are quite a few burgers to pick from; as well as a nice selection of appetizers. We had cheese curds and truffle fries. Both appetizers were sufficient in size and tasted good. I've had better of both at other restaurants; however, these were both good. My dining partner had one of the burgers, but substituted the burger for a grilled chicken breast. She enjoyed her choice. I had the Blondes Have More Fungus burger. It might not sound pleasant; but it had great flavor. The Thai peanut sauce really pulled the burger together. Overall, this was a good place to eat. If you try it, go early; as after we were seated the place got very busy. We will certainly try it again in the future.

Yelp
Date night and the quest for the best burger continues. What a delightful find. Service was exceptional! When we arrived, we were told 15 minutes for a table and 45 for food. Well, date night so...perfect. Our table was no where near 15 minutes, maybe 5 tops. AND the drink order the bartender took was placed on the table. Super fantastic. We went for burgers, and they were great! I had the Wisco Inferno, but I chickened out a bit and had the reaper ranch on the side. Outstanding flavor, and putting the sauce on the side was a great idea for me. I put just a touch of the sauce on. The burger was so satisfying. Service was wonderful. They refilled our adult beverages in a super timely manner. Overall wonderful visit. We will be back

Yelp
Atmosphere: Narrow bar/high top stool seating. Dimly lit. Street parking only. Service: Servers are friendly and understanding. Food: I've been here 3 times (once for drinks and twice for food). The two times I came here for food, there has been hair (one time hairs on my plate different colors one blonde long and one short brown-I have long black hair so it obviously wasn't mine) on my food. They have always comped me the bill and offered to remake it but I just couldn't work back up my appetite. If they start having the kitchen staff wear hairnets/beardnets I'll consider coming back, but until then I'll have to pass. The food always looks great when it comes out, I'm guessing I just have horrible luck with this place is what it boils down to.

Yelp
Perfect place to pop in for a late lunch after walking in downtown Appleton. Our server was attentive and always around for refills. Wonderfully polite conversation, she didn't linger nor were we left searching for her. Ranges of patrons range from small kids to middle aged adults. The seating is limited and the space overall is narrow. Maybe not the best place to bring the family due to size and seating options, however restaurant is kid-friendly. I selected the Crab Goon burger with fries. Fresh crispy fries that were lightly salted. We did have to order our sides separately; the ketchup was not Heinz. Price was a little steep for the portions, but the homemade crab rangoon dip made up for the price.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Their burgers are absolutely delicious, they melt in your mouth. Good selection of burgers and hot dogs. Sides are plentiful & what you would expect. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is ok, bar & grill. I enjoy when they put tables in the sidewalk during the summer.
google avatar

Kosoma J.

Yelp
I came to WI for a work trip, my team came and I came here for dinner, we did hear the burgers are good. I got the cowboy burger, it was delish, love the size of it, wasn't to big or small. The atmosphere was really good and customer service was great. If you are looking for a burger spot this is the place.
google avatar

K. A.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic food and service - cannot wait to go back! The waitress was beyond reproach and so personable and attentive. We got the Crab Goon, the Beer Dip Badger, fries, and the half naked hotties. Wonderful portions, so flavorful, and no skimping on the burger fixins. That is one of my biggest pet peeves at some restaurants is like ZERO flavor, super dry, and minimal toppings on their burgers, but NOT here! The only complaint is the hotties (curds) weren't really spicy at all as advertised- but the portions made up for it for sure! Lastly, ambiance is typically townie bar. Clean, tidy, cozy. WILL BE BACK 100x.

Yelp
We wanted a hamburger and heard great reviews on this place. Stopped in on a Saturday around 12:30. I wish I would have gotten the 2 bartenders names. They made the experience great. Greeted us right away, handed us menus and took our drink order. We started off with the Truffle Fries with aioli. The aioli sauce was great and made the fries! I cannot remember the burgers we ordered but I took the suggestion of one of the bartenders and combined ingredients from 2 burgers. Delicious! My husband also ordered cheese curds and they were excellent. The place gets very busy on Saturday afternoons so plan to get there early. We definitely will be back.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
Visited for lunch for the first time. It was a late lunch, so it was quiet and we enjoyed some delicious beer and burgers. I was unsure of which beer to order so the server offered a sample...which is always nice! My husband enjoyed the Crab Goon burger and I had the Beer Dip Badger on the recommendation of our server. We shared truffle fries, too! I'll definitely try a different burger next time as there are lots of options!
google avatar

Ann V.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service excellent. Ordered a cowboy burger with cheese curds. Cheese curds are a must. I got the spicy one but they are not spicy I definitely liked the plain ones better. The bar tender was awesome very friendly and out going. It was a Tuesday not too busy, we got our service fast. I also tried their local cider: Loon Juice Pear cider. It was delicious! Highly recommend this location

Jamie W.

Yelp
Overall, Home Burger Bar exceeded my expectations. With great service, amazing bartenders, and delicious food, it's a must-visit for anyone in the Appleton area. I can't wait to return and try more from their menu! Highly recommended!
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
You just want a great burger? Go to the place that makes 'em! Great selection of burgers, and a monthly "special" designed by employees that'll really mess with your taste buds. Plus, a good selection of beers and other mixed drinks to enjoy.
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
A College Avenue GEM! My wife and I had a kick ass Old Fashioned (sour) and tasty fried cheese curds and chicken tenders hit the spot. If I was to open a burger bar, it would be just like Home Burger Bar!!!
google avatar

Josie M.

Yelp
This is easily one of my favorite places to eat at on College Ave. The food and drinks never fail to please, and the people are welcoming and attentive. They have monthly special burgers, which shows that they put thought and care into what they do, instead of just leaning on their regular fare. The burgers are always a crowd pleaser, and if you like sweet potatoes, their sweet potato fries are a special treat! Whether it's lunch downtown or dinner and drinks, there's truly no place like Home.
google avatar

Foodie P.

Yelp
Flavorful food, but the burger patties were dry due to overcooking. Don't be in a hurry. You will need to wait after you order. Staff was pleasant enough. Not great, but not bad.

Jj R.

Yelp
Best burger in Appleton. Fast service. Truffle tots slap hard. Eat here, drink here. Love the place.

Katie P.

Yelp
This is such a great spot! We came with a bigger group and we're able to find seating at the bar, the bartenders were super friendly and attentive. The drinks we ordered were so reasonably priced and were very good. 2 people in our group got the PB & J burger and loved it. I got the crab Rangoon burger which the bartender recommended and it was excellent! Everyone in our group agreed that the food and drinks were wonderful and we would absolutely come back in the future!!
google avatar

Ginger S.

Yelp
Wait for a table. Cuz it's small. Enjoy your food! Good food, and great drinks. My only beef is that the seating arrangements are crazy and that you have to pretty much wait for a table to open. We ate at the bar which was ok. Would have preferred a table to talk to our friends. My friend had the burger of the month which was a green bean casserole burger and enjoyed it. The food was amazing, I just wish this place was 4 times larger. Going to bring my family visiting from out of town here when they want to get their Wisconsin on! See ya soon!
google avatar

Tracy N.

Yelp
I got the Steakhouse burger with sweet potato fries, everything was cooked perfectly and the customer service was wonderful.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch on the last day of our vacation. We were in search of a good burger and fried cheese curds and were not disappointed. I had the mushroom and swiss burger with fried cheese curds, and my husband had the cowboy burger with fries. The burgers were juicy and delicious. The curds, although not authentic cheese curds, hit the spot. Service was friendly and attentive. Good beer selection as well. Traditional bar stool seating with high top tables. Typical bar setting. We will be back again!
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
No-frills burger joint and bar with an amazing tasty selection of interesting burgers. Try the peanut butter and jelly with bacon and jalapeño burger. Do not knock it until you try it!! Truffle fries are the icing on the cake for this gem.
google avatar

Johannah C.

Yelp
Really solid burger place. I enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe the place was giving off. I went on a Tuesday and not much was going on. The place was pretty slow but I was cool with that. I say at the bar and asked the bartender for recommendations. I got some local beers and ordered the curds (because I'm in Wisconsin) and the dill pickle burger. The curds were yummy. Perfect amount of breading and saltiness and my burger was juicy. I liked that the deep fried pickles on the burger were spicy. I of course added bacon because ummm bacon. And also I'm a fan of meat on meat. The music was great and I stayed for a while just listening to the music and enjoying my beer.

Tina C.

Yelp
Great food great service , there burgers are amazing! Everytime I've gone food has been excellent!

Nicky Y.

Yelp
We've been wanting to try this place. Came in at 8:30 on a Saturday night and we sat at the bar right away because all tables were full. One of the bartenders started shouting about 10 min later at people that had walked in and were waiting to find a table. It was totally unnecessary and rude as she muttered to herself how ridiculous and rude these people were who were just trying to visit her place of employment. Two sandwiches and fries took 45 min was okay. Truffle fries were really good. We had a chicken Parmesan that came out without marinara. When he asked for it she took his basket but came back with it and a cold side of marinara. My burger was nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Drew F.

Yelp
This place we went to on a Wisconsin trip for my birthday, and the food was good but there cheese curds were too garlicky. The customer service was horrible they kept cursing when they were right in front of us. An advantage is that it is in downtown Appleton, but with the combination of the customer service and the cheese curds I had to give this place 3 stars.
google avatar

Colin H.

Yelp
Came here for the first time, when they became "Bob's Burgers" for April Fools. I wish I didn't wait so long! This is a fantastic burger bar in downtown Appleton. Drinks- They have lots of different beers, cocktails and shots. I didn't try too many but the ones that I had were delicious. I am sure I will work through the rest on future visits. Food- They had a limited menu for "Bob's Burgers" but from my understanding every burger was a burger you can normally get, they just renamed them with Bob like puns. I had the "Don't Have a Crab Attack" burger, normally named the "Crab Goon". It had crab rangoon filling, woton chips, and a sweet and spicy sauce. It was fabulous! I can't wait to try every other burger here because of how delicious this one was. The fries were pretty good. Service- The service was absolutely fantastic. They had a line out the door because of the special night. Every staff member was dressed up like a character in the show and were willing to all come together to regularly take pics with the patrons. Besides that my drinks were never empty and I never had to wait long for the server to check on me. All in all this is one of the best burger places I have been in the area. I will probably make this a regular place to get a burger.
google avatar

CaThy W.

Yelp
Great service, great food and drinks! It's kinda small in here but worth it if you have to wait for a table. I had a grape Houdini drink. So good tastes like Kool aid. Yum! I also had the bacon cheeseburger with truffle fries. They could have used a bit more truffle flavor IMO, but dipped in garlic aioli was great. The burger meat had an incredible flavor as well. Lisa was our amazing waitress and menu explainer. Truly an amazing experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Super busy during Mile of Music, but staff is still upbeat, honest about the wait, and happy to keep your beverage full while you wait! Great burger, nice size so filling but not pigged out!
google avatar

Deb S.

Yelp
Great burgers & staff. Lots of options to pick from and lots with cheese curds! We visited during Mile of Music this year and will be back!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Great place to grab a burger and chill. I travel in for business and always make my way to Home Burger Bar.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
I had the Steakhouse burger with truffle fries and it was all delicious! The bartenders were great, joked around and made everyone at the bar feel welcome. I've been in WI for a few weeks and so far the only bar staff who knows how to make bar guests feel welcome, engage in conversation and joke around, I will definitely be back and would highly recommend!
google avatar

Kelley M.

Yelp
Omg!! So good! I got the Badger burger with fries and loved every last bite!!! When I come back to Appleton, I'll be back to try another burger!!

Patty G.

Yelp
Burgers were incredible, sides were so good that I had to slow down to leave room for the burgers! Atmosphere of the staff was welcoming, happy, and clearly see their love of the establishment. Thx for being you! Beer Dip Badger Burger rocks!!!

Brandon F.

Yelp
Burgers are pretty good. Just unfortunate they use frozen patties. Service is only ok most of the time. Great vibes inside tho.

Kevin M.

Yelp
If the perfect burger exists, it lives in Wisconsin. This place is so good. Got the Beer Dip Badger Burger and I may need to get another one become I leave Appleton. Cheese curds belong on a burger
google avatar

Tony D.

Yelp
I love this place but never remember to post a review. Not today. Great burgers and the aioli fries are to die for. Good beer selection and a cool vibe.
google avatar

Anny S.

Yelp
I went here to grab some burgers with coworkers, had the truffle fries and Crab Rangoon Burger as recommendation from one of the ladies that work there and it was delicious. Great service, very friendly, nice place overall.
google avatar

Joseph Z.

Yelp
I'm floored. This is what a Burger Bar should be. It's a small bar setting with a tiny kitchen pushing out really good food that you can tell they care about. The best sweet potato fries I've ever had, a French onion burger that hit all the right notes. Also the serving size was just right, I'm satisfied but don't feel like a slob. The cherry on the top is the bar tenders knowledge on the beer available and their bubbly demeanor. This will be a staple any time I'm in Appleton. Hats off.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Great service by friendly staff. The burger was fresh and hot. Highly recommend any burger with bacon. On top of bacon simply making everything better, their thick cut was some of the best I've had. I can't think of anything I can remotely complain about.
google avatar

Elaina B.

Yelp
Home burger bar has some of the best burgers in Appleton. I love the the selection of burgers they have. Their spicy cheese curds and truffle fries are a great addition to any of their burgers. Their cocktail menu is also great along with their shots. The atmosphere being on college ave is great as well. They can get pretty busy with food taking long to arrive but if you go early the food is well worth the wait.
