My husband recently noticed Home Eat, which is located where Flames used to be. It wasn't until we chatted with our neighbor that we were encouraged to give the place a try.
We drove over to the restaurant around noon on a Saturday, and we were able to snag street parking right in front of Home Eat. There were a couple of folks who were loitering outside, so I was concerned that we were out of luck without a reservation. There was actually plenty of seating during this time, and the restaurant was large enough to accommodate several parties. In addition to dine-in, Home Eat had a hot food line where customers could build a take-out box of items to-go.
Service was excellent. Food came out incredibly fast after we ordered. Our server, who was a week into the job, was attentive, honest, and friendly. We appreciated his guidance as it was our first time at Home Eat.
We ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp, Vegetable Spring Rolls, an Orange Chicken combo plate and Mongolian Beef combo plate. The combo plate was such a steal! You get a hefty plate of rice, steamed broccoli, and protein of your choice, and they don't skimp on the meat.
Besides the veggie spring rolls, which was whatever, I enjoyed the assortment of food we got. I liked that the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Orange Chicken weren't caked in batter, and their respective sauces were rich and flavorful. The Mongolian beef was my favorite, and I'd look forward to trying their fiery version.
