Google
I like Home Eat. Both this one and the one near Santa Clara University. The best dish is the fried chicken wings. Perfectly crispy and seasoned plus a little sauce. Scrumptious. Sautéed egg plant and green beans for your veggies. Salt and pepper fried fish is tasty. And some won ton soup. All great dishes. Fast service at a pretty decent price.

Google
This restaurant did NOT disappoint! I understood later why our server was amused by our ambitious order. The salt and pepper fried chicken wings were crispy with just the right kick. The hot and sour soup was all about comfort and tangy warmth. The Mongolian beef was bursting with bold flavors, and the spicy boiled fish fillet was silky, and deeply satisfying. The shrimp and ham fried rice was the perfect accompaniment, fluffy amd savory. The decor is nothing fancy but the food more than makes up for it! The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back!

Google
My first time here and everything we ordered was so good! The service was incredibly quick and efficient. The ambiance was clean and all the staff was friendly and provided great service. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely come back and visit. Their portions are HUGE! We got 2 combo meals thinking it would be smaller but one combo is enough to feed at least 2 or 3 people. Flavors were great and delicious!

Google
Great food and definitely worth the price! The portion size for the combo plates were more than what I expected. Ambient is great and the place is well kept and clean. Highly recommend!

Google
Ordered Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken Wings to go. Service was fast and quick. Easy to fine parking as well. The wings however didn’t seem to have much salted yolk. Tasted more like the salt and pepper. Also too greasy for my liking.

Google
Good place for decent food. They have plenty of seating and fairly good hosts as well. The portions were quite generous. The only thing I would avoid is the Boba in the Thai Milk Tea.

Google
I walk into this place with the intention to just buy food, but constantly finding myself talking with the staff members and enjoying their company all while they provide top tier service, including but not limited to, timely food delivery and simply being friendly. The food especially was great. (Pictured: Beef Wrap, Orange Chicken, and Beef Dumplings) Every bite was filled with sweet and savory flavor that contrasted perfectly. Always come in with my girlfriend for a great date night.

Google
Everything was good!! Very flavorful and didn't just taste like soy sauce or just salt. Every dish had its own flavor and the food was hot and fresh. The beef noodle soup was soooo good and the meat was tender. The chicken wings were fried to perfection and the flavor was on point. The eggplant with pork was delicious as well. Oh and the pot stickers too.. the pork was good just not meaty enough. Hands down we'll be back! Hats off to the cooks. 👌🏽

Favourite restaurant at downtown, tasty with good quality. Good place for family parties!

Yelp
Been here a few times, & food never disappoints. Ordered a orange chicken combo, big portion which is able to fill me up. I love trying new items on the menu, they have a variety of items!

Yelp
Amazing food at fantastic prices. Make sure to check out their monthly specials for discounts! The hotpot's are my favorite. Just fyi the secret lamb pot has numbing spice so if you like that it is perfect for you!

Yelp
This is the place to go for good Chinese food at very reasonable prices! The food was tasty, but very standard, nothing mindblowing. We got the General Tso's chicken and the chicken with explosive chili pepper. The flavor of both dishes was great, but the chicken was pretty dry/tough. For our noodle dish, we got chow fun with egg and shrimp, which was flavorful and tasty! The food came out fast, the service was great, and the portions here are pretty generous for the price. A great place to stop by for an affordable lunch or dinner!

Yelp
Food is very tasty and my Chinese husband says is very authentic as well. The portions are very big and we always end up having enough left over for a second meal. We ordered: *Egg and vegetable chow mein *Beef wrap *Tidu sliced beef pot (not spicy) *General Tso's chicken. The place is very big with plenty of tables so you don't have to wait and food comes out pretty quick. Also they have the QR code with online menu so you can order through there and you don't need to wait for a waiter to be available. :)))

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. From the very first visit, I was sold. Its service, cleanliness, speed, flavor of the food, friendly staff, and simple yet comprehensive menu impressed me. And the cherry on top? The prices! In this economy, they're affordable with generous portions--everyone wins! I know it's in downtown San Jose, but remember that the city offers two hours of free parking in the lots around the restaurant. On Sundays, finding a spot on the street is relatively easy, so give it a chance and enjoy their food.

Yelp
We ordered: *4 Spices Satay Beef Wok * Sichuan High Wok Service was good and speedy! Food comes out nice and hot. Looking forward to trying more menu items next time. The orange slices they gave us at the end of the meal were great.
google avatar

Yelp
My go to for authentic Chinese food that feels home cooked. Love getting their individual sized hot pots since they always pack it full of food and I'm never left hungry. There's also a good variety of different ingredients in each hot pot. Big fan of grabbing the cheap take out food from the hot bar for a meal later as well. Service is good as well, utensils and various dishes are already at each table. Food comes out quick!

Yelp
Services is nice and very easy to park and food are good We order lamb wok and pork bone with beef roll all good

Yelp
Delicious food and good quantity. There's a parking garage right next to the restaurant with free 90 minute parking. Friendly and fast service.

Yelp
Home Eat is the newest gem in town, and it's already a standout! They had sample sushi out for us to try. At the end of our meal, they brought out sweet slices of orange, which was such a refreshing and delightful way to finish our dining experience. The closest parking garage is located at Second & San Carlos and offers 90 minutes of free parking

Yelp
I was in town visiting and my cousin recommended this place. He said they have the best chicken in town. I went with the Lamb pot. It was a big portion with tons of flavor. I would love to come back and check out their other items on the menu.

Yelp
Love this place ! Went here hella times already - chicken wings : 10/10 ** In love with their salted egg chicken wings , soy garlic chicken wings ( reminds me of San tung), and salt and pepper chicken wings ** so juicy and flavorful - eggplant : 10/10 - hot & sour soup: 10/10 * generally not a fan of this type of soup but it was good, one of the better hot & sour soups I've tried - vegetables : 10/10 ** green string beans - spicy beef noodle soup: 8/10 * doesn't taste like the traditional beef noodle soup, but still good - beef chow fun: 10/10 - beef chow mein : 10/10 Overall this place is solid ! It has a lot of good Chinese dishes to choose from . All the dishes I've tried so far are good !! Haven't had a bad experience yet Service : pretty quick and good Decor: typical cloud Chinese restaurant. But clean and nice front door fish pond asethetics

Yelp
Despite being located in downtown, parking is not an issue at this restaurant as it is next to a parking garage that offers free 90 minutes so it is enough time if you would like to dine in. I would recommend any of their chicken wing dishes and their hot pots in particular. All of the hot pot comes with a bowl of rice and is a fair enough portion to split between two people. Each month they offer discounts on a select number of items on the menu so if you are on a budget there are some more affordable options to pick from as The service here is always fast and I have never experienced a line, I am always seated immediately. The prices are fair and I will continue to come back here.

Yelp
This place is great! The General Tso's Chicken (3.5/5) was good but since we ordered to-go, the breading was soft and not crunchy at all. I would order this for dine-in but not for take-out. The Egg and Vegetable Chow Mein (5/5) was amazing and would definitely order again. The price is good and ordering online was very easy!

Yelp
One of my favorite go to's! Great food at a reasonable price my favorite is the secret lamb wok and the beef wok. First time trying the ma pa tofu which is also good! Service is quick with a QR code ordering system. Very large seating area available with music.

Yelp
This place goes crazy! Every plate we had was delicious and flavorful. The one place I would definitely come back to everyday if I could! We got seared so fast and ordered with no problem. Our food arrived pretty quickly. One of my fave places in San Jose right now!! What we got Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken 9/10 A choy 10/10 Numbing Spicy BBQ Fish Fillet 10/10 White rice (Do I really need to tell you? ) Salt and pepper fried chicken 9/10 Spicy beef noodle soup 10/0

Yelp
We were looking for a spot downtown that was open for lunch on Christmas Day and Home Eat fit the bill! For 4 people we ordered the BBQ fish fillet, beef pancake roll, sautéed green beans, and salt & pepper wings. Warning that this was too much food but we didn't care because it was all sooo delicious! Our favorite dishes were the BBQ fish fillet and the salt & pepper wings -- really great flavor and portions! We ended up taking half of the fish fillet home and it became 6 more meals for us by adding udon and extra veggies at home to mix with the sauce. The wings were nice and crispy with a yummy garlic flavor -- we also took the extra garlic topping home to add to dishes. Green beans were fresh and the beef in the pancake rolls were very tender. The BBQ fish fillet and beef pancake rolls were a good deal since they were part of the monthly specials. After lunch we were in a food coma and walked over to Christmas in the Park (only 10 mins walk away). Parking is also super convenient as the restaurant is connected to a big garage. I believe they also validate but parking was free on Christmas Day. Service was very quick and friendly. You can easily order dishes via QR code but you have to pay through the staff. I'd come back again to try the other dishes! The hotpot ones look good and I'd love to try some other wings.

Yelp
I've been to the other Home Eat locations and they all have been great. The Downtown San Jose location did not disappoint. You can park in the 4th street parking garage above the restaurant and there is 90 minutes of free parking and after that, it is $1 for every 15 minutes. This location is really big and replaces the old Flames restaurant. You can order by scanning the QR code or ask for physical menus and a server can take your order. Let me start off by saying, if you have never been to any of the Home Eat locations, the pricesbare inexpensive and the portions are huge! On my recent visit, my friend and I ordered the beef fried rice, the beef ramen, orange chicken and the spicy beef with chili oil. Every time I go to Home Eat, my friends and I tend to over order and have so much leftovers. But anyways, the beef ramen was simple yet tasty. It has beef brisket and the broth has lots of flavor. I would be happy with this alone. The orange chicken was yummy and yes, it is better than Panda Express. Big chunks of chicken in a crispy batter and a sweet and sticky sauce. Delish! Fried rice was yummy but I was caught off guard by the bean sprouts. I would order the fried rice again, but without the bean sprouts because I'm not a fan lol. The beef in the chili oil is spicy and it is really tender with lots of flavor. I can't handle too much spiciness but my friend loved it. Overall, Home Eat doesn't disappoint and it is such a bargain for good Chinese cuisine.

Yelp
Very big Chinese place with a wide variety of dishes that I got overwhelmed by the menu. Luckily, I knew I wanted hotpot so I ordered the fashion wok. The dish came piping hot and the broth was so tasty. The beef was a bit chewy and was hard to digest so I am giving this a 4 star instead of 5. As for ordering, you order via phone but don't pay until the end despite the order form asking you to pay ahead of time. Just caused us a bit of confusion because we thought we had already paid for the food.

Yelp
Home eat? This place really does EAT. First of all, the serving size - an individual could buy one order of friend rice and it's could feed them for another day. The pricing is very affordable as well! As for the taste, everyone was really impressed. My favorite was the shenzhuan fish. The fish was so soft it melts in your mouth! We also ordered beef noodle soup and it was really good, a bit oily, but we still enjoyed it. Additionally, the chow mien and egg plant were pretty good and standard. Overall great experience :-) worth the visit!

Yelp
This is such a great spot because their menu is so extensive. They have all kinds of food and it's decently priced. They also have a monthly special menu with items that get discounted. I've gone here with a big group twice and each time they're wet every quick to accommodate us. The parking structure next to it has free parking for the first 90 mins! So no need to stress about finding street parking.

Yelp
Super yummy delicious but also super spicy. Beware! I recommend getting some boba or asking for some soy sauce to help ease the spice. Super yummy tho.

Yelp
I am so happy that I stumbled upon home eats one day while walking around Sj downtown. It's always great food, friendly, and have great special deals. Also spacious and a nice environment to hang out. I love the beef scallion wrap and also the 5 spices satay hot pot. So many more items I want to try...
google avatar

Yelp
Great value and straight forward place to get a quick bite for dinner. Dinner was under $50 for 3 entrees. Pork Eggplant- salted unevenly, my side was more salty. The sauce could be sweeter for better balance. Combo (meat) Fried Rice - this was okay, very generous amounts of meat (beef and chicken) and shrimp. The peas and cubed carrots remind me American fast food Chinese fried rice. Salt & Pepper Fried Fish - Batter was a bit thick and hard. Seasoning was a bit off compared to the usual salt & pepper dishes.

Yelp
This was my second time eating at Home Eat, and first time at this location right across the street from the MLK Jr. library at SJSU. HomeEat is underneath the parking garage, which is convenient, although on my visit, it was so packed, I had to circle up to the 5th floor to find a space. My friend and I met up at 11:30, so it was pretty empty but by 12, it was packed! We tried the Combo Fried Rice with no beef, the Dry Braised Wings, Scallion Pancakes, and A Choy w/Garlic. The scallion pancake had hardly any scallions and were pretty flavorless. Everything else was good. I never order fried rice since I make it at home, but that was my friend's request. I was impressed. If you're ever craving some Cantonese grub, I highly recommend Home Eat! Shoot, if Home Eat was there when I went to school at SJSU, I would've eaten there all. the. time.

Yelp
If you're looking for some good cheap Chinese food in downtown San Jose, look no further. This place offers an extensive menu of delicious dishes. I was blown away from the various dishes they offer. You can place your order from scanning the QR code or via waiter. The food came very quickly, it was not sitting under a heat lamp. The restaurant had plenty of tables and seats. The patrons were mostly students from SJSU. The hotpots and woks cooked at your table were just ok. The meats were very fatty and the soup base was not too flavorful. However, the fried chicken wings made up for any negative things here. The wings were so crunchy on the outside and piping hot tender meat inside. I could sit and just eat wings all day! The stir fried vegetables are very fresh and delicious. I will be back for more wings and stir fried veggies.
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
I've gone here so many time because each month they have a new special discount on a wide selection of dishes and drinks! My favorite thing to get here is their hotpot. I usually get the satay beef. I tried their chicken wings before and wasn't a fan of the outer texture. Overall, the service is great and they give you oranges at the end of your meal! You can park at the garage for free up to 90mins. The restaurant is spacious!
google avatar

Gabriel H.

Yelp
This was my second visit, absolutely love the vegetable fried rice and thought to add the wings as well on this visit. I was not disappointed. This was consumed on lunch break and I am pleased and thankful for the purchase. I recommend this establishment
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for dinner. We both agreed that the dishes lacked wok hei. We ordered the chow fun from the monthly special. I do not recommended ordering this because they really skimp on the beef. The Eggplant with Pork was overly saucy. Also not a fan of how thick the sauce was. I was really impressed with the Hot & Sour Soup. I really like how used mala for the hotness. The Salt & Pepper Fish Filet was light and crisp! Overall, it's a decent value for dinner. I'd personally would pass on anything that's stir fried.
google avatar

Yelp
Love love love this place. Usually when a Chinese restaurant has a high rating, it doesn't taste authentic, but this place is so tasty. The menu is akin to the Cheesecake factory's in that it is basically a novel-- there are so many things you can choose from, so there's something for everyone. The prices are such good value and the portions are big. I always expect to come away from here with leftovers. The lunch special is also a great value too. I usually order from their rotating monthly specials to try new things at a discounted price, but if I were to recommend one thing, you must try their classic wings!
google avatar

Auriana N.

Yelp
I was so pleasantly surprised at my experience with Home Eat. Being in SJ and finding authentic Chinese food is a journey but Home Eat did not disappoint. I ordered from a food delivery site and even the packaging was amazing. Quality of the food was amazing, spice amount was superb and the flavor was authentic. The spicy chow menu combo was my favorite because the flavor combo and amount of protein was really favorable to my palette. Can't wait to explore the menu.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
This place has saved the day twice as they close relatively late and have a wide selection of good Chinese dishes. The location is probably a pain to park at during normal business hours, but as I've mostly come for late dinners (after 9 PM) I've managed to consistently find parking right out front on 4th street. Can't beat that. Anyway, it's definitely casual inside, and usually not busy. The staff hustles around and food comes pretty fast, and all the plates and utensils are on the table. And don't forget to pay at the register, not at the table. Food-wise I have pretty much enjoyed everything. I'm not sure what the exact style is, but they have good noodles, rice, vegetables, meats, seafood - so far I've liked it all. Standouts would be the spicy shell-on shrimp with noodles, and sauteed eggplant. Prices are okay and it's chilly and drafty inside, also a bit noisy. If you need anything I would say the servers do seem to be a little bit hard to flag down. But if you're craving good Chinese food and especially if it's late, this is a great option.

Yelp
The boba was fantastic! I will definitely be coming back for more. The wings are also fantastic

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon with some family members. This was my first time trying this place out. No reservation needed and the place was large, so plenty of seats. My sister ordered a bunch of dishes, and within 5 minutes of ordering, the food arrived. WOW! I wasn't expecting to be this fast! All the dishes were tasty and portions were good. Also noticed they have a lot of staff members. Prices were very reasonable especially being in the Bay Area. The restaurant was large in size. Clean tables, and servers were polite. Overall, we had a great experience and my sister said they go here often. Will definitely be back here again. ! ! !

Yelp
Fantastic friendly Speedy service Food came out fast and hot Table favorite and best dish hands down honey walnut shrimp. But everything was delicious. (Ordered salted egg fried chicken/ spicy boiled fish / mapo tofu / dumplings) Comforting family/friend vibes Very satisfied
google avatar

Tiffaney L.

Yelp
Amazing value for Chinese food, clearly catering to the Asian student crowd at SJSU. A big plus is the free 90-minute parking in the same building--super convenient. Portions are generous for the price (just skip the combo meals; they're not worth it). The best way to enjoy it is to order several plates and eat family-style. I'm especially a fan of their personal hot pot meals--easily the best value you'll find in the entire Bay Area. They also offer fun monthly specials, so there's always something new to try. The restaurant is large, so I often see families and big friend groups dining together. The food can be a bit salty at times, but that's rare. With such a huge menu and QR codes on the table for easy ordering, it's hard to go wrong here!
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Friend introduced us to this place! I love how spacious this restaurant is. It's like a cafe type of vibe. Their classic dried wings with sweet soy sauce tastes similar like the ones from sang Tung. And the prices are so much more affordable than other places! Food came out within 5 mins after we ordered lol. They also offer individual hotpot and so many different variety Chinese cuisine. Will definitely be back here again to try their hotpot

Isaac R.

Yelp
The food and service here stellar. So good I had to take home the leftovers from the very good and large portions.

Yelp
My husband recently noticed Home Eat, which is located where Flames used to be. It wasn't until we chatted with our neighbor that we were encouraged to give the place a try. We drove over to the restaurant around noon on a Saturday, and we were able to snag street parking right in front of Home Eat. There were a couple of folks who were loitering outside, so I was concerned that we were out of luck without a reservation. There was actually plenty of seating during this time, and the restaurant was large enough to accommodate several parties. In addition to dine-in, Home Eat had a hot food line where customers could build a take-out box of items to-go. Service was excellent. Food came out incredibly fast after we ordered. Our server, who was a week into the job, was attentive, honest, and friendly. We appreciated his guidance as it was our first time at Home Eat. We ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp, Vegetable Spring Rolls, an Orange Chicken combo plate and Mongolian Beef combo plate. The combo plate was such a steal! You get a hefty plate of rice, steamed broccoli, and protein of your choice, and they don't skimp on the meat. Besides the veggie spring rolls, which was whatever, I enjoyed the assortment of food we got. I liked that the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Orange Chicken weren't caked in batter, and their respective sauces were rich and flavorful. The Mongolian beef was my favorite, and I'd look forward to trying their fiery version.

Yelp
Food was amazing and I would rate it 100/10 BUT... the wack guy at the register had to ruin my first time experience by giving me attitude over to go boxes , man was pressed over me asking for two more boxes and a bag . I hope they can correct him on how to treat customers.

Yelp
We found this place on Yelp because we were looking for food in downtown that's open past 10:30pm and I am super glad we came here. The inside of this place is huge and clean. We came on a Wednesday night around 10:30pm and there were surprisingly a good amount of customers dining in. The service is fast and efficient. They give you menus and the option of ordering with a server or through your phone. We ordered: - honey walnut shrimp (4.5/5): I loved the crispy batter the shrimp had. They give you a huge age of shrimp with a bunch of candied walnuts. It was perfectly sweet and savory. The shrimps were kinda small though. - a choy with garlic (5/5): nothing to complain about here. The veggies were yummy and garlicky. - tidu lamb (4/5): the flavors of this dish were good and I love the variety of toppings included. They do use the Szechuan peppercorns though so it gives the spicy numbing mouth feel. You'll either love it or hate it! - spicy combination fried rice (5/5): it was part of the monthly special and under $9!! It was so cheap but also plentiful and flavorful. - boba milk tea (3/5): basic, nothing special, but will help if you accidentally get a dish with the numbing spice. Everything was super good especially given the cheap price. I love that they have monthly discounted specials. If you love Chinese food and value, definitely come here!!
google avatar

Rita W.

Yelp
kinda on the oily/salty side but I guess I can't complain for this price lol fried rice kinda had spots where the salt wasn't mixed in well so some bites were def more salty than the rest scallion pancake wasnt bad, just a lil on the greasy side potstickers were pretty good but the juice kept coming out when I bit down lol service was pretty fast, no complaints I guess the attracting factor is the pricing - esp since it's right next to a college (this replaced flames) ps I was prepping myself to order in Chinese but then the server assigned to my table ended up speaking in English so it threw me off mentally LOL (they greeted me & brought us to the table in Chinese)

Yelp
This review is for their catering. The ordering process was very easy - I was able to place online and select the time and day. I got a text and email confirmation they received my order. On the day of pick up - I received a text when it was ready which was about 15 min prior to the confirmed time. The location although downtown was very convenient as it was attached to the parking garage. I was happy to find that the first 90 min were free. There are also some street parking right outside. Upon pick up the staff was very helpful to bring my trays to direct to my car and to load it. For the amount I paid, they also threw in one cold dish which was nice. I ordered the small tray of chicken wings and because of the sauce they double wrapped which was awesome for transportation. The only down side was they weren't as crispy compared to when you order fresh. But the flavor was still there and wouldn't deter me from ordering again. The portions were still big for a small tray.

Yelp
Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely coming back! Good Thai tea

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place after passing by it multiple times and seeing how it was always full. We stopped by for lunch and we were sat at a table in the corner. The restaurant was a lot larger than I had originally imagined. It was a really bright day when we stopped by so we quickly realized the table we were sat at was blazing from the sun. We realized there was a shade curtain they could bring down so we tried to flag down a worker to help us. It took a very long time to flag someone over and once we did they said that it was broken and there was nothing they could do. We asked if we could possibly be moved over to a different table that was open (in an area with another server) which he said no to. We sat there uncomfortably for another 40 minutes before our food came out. I had ordered the fisherman kimchi wok and I was honestly disappointed by the taste. I compared it to boiling point or tasty pot by default and found that both locations had better flavor.

Yelp
We are regulars for this Home Eat restaurant. Their flavor is consistent. Their service is exceptional. I like the ambiance. It is really clean and welcoming.

Yelp
The Tidu Sliced Beef Pot was AMAZING if you like sichuan style spicy food with the numbing mala flavor. The beef was very thinly sliced, very tender and really soaked up the flavor. It was dry pot style meaning all the flavors of sichuan hotpot are put together without the broth. I love this dish too because it brings some balance with the veggies instead of all meat and carbs. I am still thinking of how good this was. This one $20 dry pot was enough for a lunch for two people who were moderately hungry.
