Consistent coffee, good service and reliably well-made pastries. The standout for me is the green pepper pie — easily one of the best pies I’ve had, and a genuine highlight on their menu. A solid local bakery that delivers every time.

Quality bakery in Aldinga village. Constantly great pies, salad rolls, cakes, doughnuts and breads. Not ‘artisan’ - but everything they offer is excellent. Selection if Hot drinks and a cold drink cabinet. Vegan options also. Staff always friendly and approachable.

Amazing. Been here twice in the last three days. So good I brought my brother and family. Best beef and mushroom pie I've ever had.

Our local bakery and I've visited many times, eating across the breads, pastries, and desserts. It's all top notch, which is why there's often a line. Real locals know that queue doesn't mean anything because the staff behind the counter quickly and methodically take orders, dole out the carbs and coffees, and somehow manage a genuine little interaction with each customer. It hums in a way that you know means the food is great and the service is exactly what you want. Also I once saw a dog outside and I think it said my name out loud but no-one else heard so I'm not sure. Great place

Do not sleep on this bakery!!!! I recently started coming here as I am a fan of doughnuts so my very cool hobby is trying them across bakeries in SA. I would actually go as far and say this is my favourite bakery by miles or kilometres for you Aussies lol. The custard beliners are to die for and I've recently started having the pies/pasties and they are absolutely wonderful. Staff are all very friendly too! 100/10!!

I’ve been buying pastries, bread and coffee from here since it opened (5+ years ago) and can’t fault it. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff are happy, bubbly, helpful and clearly well looked after. I reckon this would have to be the best bakery in Australia honestly. :)

review no. 23 for 2024 @Home Grain Bakery, Aldinga, SA Steak & Creamy Green Pepper $8.5 Home Grain Bakery has changed owners so went on down to see what all the fuss was about. Love a good pepper pie so got the Steak & Creamy Green Pepper. The pie looked big and it felt heavy. The pastry was nice and light, soft, not too flakey and wasn't dry at all. If anything, now I'm being picky it could have done with a little bit more on the underside, other than that pretty spot on. The inside woah, filled with nice tender chunks of steak, not too much mince. The meat to gravy ratio was pretty spot on too. The pepper flavours were there, but not peppery enough for me. I've had the same pie a long time ago and I swear it had more of a punch. Catering for the masses I think, some like it hot, others don't. Serving temp could have been a tad warmer and the lue held up, didn't fall apart. One of the best bakeries in SA! Berry/custard danish was superb as were both pies (ate them too quickly to get a pic). The huge ciabatta tasted like fresh home made bread (obviously... but there's something special about it) and our donut, kitchener and coffee were all tasty. Busy, but the line moves quickly. Highly recommend!

At last I can stop driving as far away as Port Elliott to get a pie of taste and quality! I love this bakery and it opened in December 2011 at a time when first moved to SA and lived close by in Seaford. Toff, Cara and the staff at the Home Grain Bakery have perfected the art of the perfect pie! During my time in Adelaide I must have sampled nearly every "Pie of the Month" and my usual favourite "Beef and Green Peppercorn" which has won the best pie award on numerous occasions. This is my favourite as it is simply delicious. I have never had a chunkier pie! Please open a pie shop in Sydney - as I know you'd do well. I also frequented usually on Saturday mornings so that I could sample the breakfast pie range as well. If I wanted a the 'Bacon Brekky Pie', I needed to be down at the bakery early, because they usually sell out by mid morning. If this pie sells out don't fret because there is usually a Spinach and Mushroom Pie still available. Both breakfast pies are the best I have ever tasted and so much better than a quiche! In addition there are many Vegetarian pie/ pastie options. If you'd like to be temped with some sweet choices - there are lots of Jam Berliners, Finger Buns, Vanilla Slices (Yum), Beerenberg Kitchener Bun,Croissants and donuts. Freshly baked bread loaves are also displayed in the bakery window. Too much choice to choose from. I complement my meals with locally roasted Villere coffee made on the Ruggero Espresso machine. The best coffee 'Down South'! All coffees are served with a little moon shortbread made exclusively by Margaret -Toff's Nan- for the bakery. These should also be packaged for sale as they are delicious. Every time I visit Adelaide - I have to come back for one of Home Grain Bakery's Pies.

I went down to Aldinga especially for the bakery's vegan Wednesday specials and was slightly disappointed. The vegan sausage roll was like stew wrapped in pastry and lacked flavor. The fingerbun was overpowered by the icing. The staff member I dealt with was unsure of which items were vegan. Despite this I am planning to return in a few weeks to try one of their famous vegan vanilla slices!

I do consider myself a pie somewhat of a pie connoisseur, during my time as a courier they were what I lived on, after passing this shop many times I finally stopped and I'm glad I did, fantastic pies and cakes I ordered the chunky steak, bacon and cheese pie (a favourite for me), and it was to die for, had real huge rashers of well cooked bacon combined with what appeared to be half of a rump steak in it, great value and taste, I have since driven over an hour and a half just to come back and enjoy their pies again and again

This was our first visit, and yes we will be back. Walked in just before midday and the shop was buzzing with customers. I would've appreciated a menu board and prices but that's a minor complaint. My wife reckon's the pasty was awesome and the best she's had in many years. My beef and mushroom pie was stacked with tender beef and mushrooms, but lacked a little in actual flavor, I will look at other options next time. We shared a vanilla slice, my wife reckons she can make better (she would), but I was more than happy with my half. The other breads and cakes looked lush and were hard to resist.

This bakery is seriously popular on weekends or around 9 930ish i ring and order my coffee if I'm going past local way of jumping the cue when it's crazy but the pies and staff rock

Coffee was... O my god incredible! I need those beans for home!!! Next time I will find out the blend !

I love this bakery, by far the best quality and taste I have ever known. Their coffee is good too. The staff are the best, very friendly and always happy to see you :-)
