I discovered Home Place Pastures within the last year or so through the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science Alumni Magazine. Since I grew up a hop, skip, and jump away from Como, off of Highway 310 in Marshall County, I was eager to check out the farm store on one of my upcoming visits back home.
I finally got to stop by this past weekend, and I ordered takeout for lunch on Sunday, which consisted of 4 smoked brisket sandwiches, 2 wedge salads, 2 orders of egg rolls, a basket of French fries, and 3 slices of chocolate pie. The customer service I received during my visit was superb, and I throughly enjoyed the butcher shop meets Hill Country cafe vibes in the dining area while I waited for my food to be prepared.
Once I got back to my mom's house, I realized both salads came with bacon, which meant the pescatarian in our family couldn't eat her meal. Other than that small hiccup, everything else was phenomenal! My family raved about the smoke brisket sandwiches, and I really enjoyed the egg rolls, wedge salad, French fries, and slice of chocolate pie that I ate.
Overall, a great experience, and I look forward to stopping by again in the future when I'm back home in North Mississippi.
