A quick work trip to Springfield, IL led us to Home Plate Bar & Grill — and what a great local find! We needed something close to the job site, and being a couple of sportoholics, this place was a perfect fit. The sports bar atmosphere immediately made us feel right at home. TVs were well placed throughout the bar, making it an ideal spot to catch any game. Since we had to get back to work, we skipped appetizers and went straight to the mains. I ordered the Chicago Style Hot Dogs with Freedom Fries — classic, satisfying, and exactly what I was hoping for. My partner chose the Horseshoe (Pony size instead of the full), and even that was a generous portion. Plenty of food and full of flavor. Service was solid. Our waitress checked on us regularly and kept things moving, which we appreciated given our time crunch. If you’re looking for a laid-back sports bar with good food and a welcoming vibe in Springfield, Home Plate is worth the stop.

I gave 4 stars for the food because my salad wasn’t like the menu read. It was all iceberg lettuce. I would not have ordered it. Iceberg lettuce is good for like a sandwich instead of bread.The chicken and ranch was delicious. $15.50 is a lot for iceberg lettuce.

This place is money! Always come here. Even tonights game (Bears). Love all the servers there including Caitlin! Always smiling and attentive! Love the nachos! So much cheese you have to eat fast or the chips get soggy!

Went in for Illinois game recently. It was packed, bartenders were on it!! That's very rare these days. Great job! First time having the wings here, excellent as well.

A wonderful sports bar and grill that not only serves up great food and drinks, the atmosphere and staff are top notch. Tara, Abby, Kim, Melanie, Isabella, Shelba, and everyone of the staff are truly the best. Owners & management are wonderful people! Highly recommend!

Went for lunch on Sunday afternoon. They were very busy, as there was a football game on. I was seated quickly, but after ten minutes no one noticed me to take my drink order. Another couple was seated after me and was taken care of. I couldn’t get the waitress’s attention. One waitress brought something to the table next to me, but still nothing. I left after about twelve minutes.

Food and drinks were awesome, great atmosphere, service was spot on! Our waitress Cait was super friendly and checked on us frequently! She made some great recommendations as well!!! We will definitely be back!!

1st time here, nice place inviting and looks like a good place to watch sporting events. Plenty of TV's at all angles so all should have good views of a game. So let's get to the waitress Brittney, she was absolutely great and quite pleasant to talk with. Great service. Then we ordered drinks and looked at the menu. So I'm being quite honest here this menu couldn't have been more basic. It's a one page with appetizers, salads, a very small selection of sandwiches and then about 5 different dessert options. Scanning the menu I have to say I was quite bored as nothing seemed to stand out as interesting or unique. Both of us commented on the lack of interest this menu presented to us. We made a simple order. So the service was good, the food arrival time was good. I had the BLT and she had the Beet Salad. Neither of us were impressed. Truthfully it's just adequate an both of us thought it's not worth a return trip.
