Home Slice Pizza

So we literally had 4 different locals we met at different places, tell us about this Pizza place. They all said to try the mashed potatoe pizza. It sounded so weird, but also very intriguing..so we ended up stopping and getting a BBQ Chicken pizza, and the Potato pizza. Both were very good, and I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

Taking a break from the Maumee Film Festival a good buddy of mine wanted to share a piece of his college days with me. We ordered the DeCarlo and cheese bread. A few months back I visited New York and ate pizza at a couple places. This pizza here is definitely a notch higher than one of those places- the cream cheese blending with the bbq sauce, 5 cheese blend and the hot sauce: the flavor is addicting! I’m glad I don’t live close because I’d be here an unhealthy amount. I look forward to my next visit here when I’m in town!

I’m not a pizza connoisseur but I got two large pieces to go for only 5 bucks and I thought they tasted great! The staff were friendly and the service was quick. Would visit again!

We ordered our pizzas and it ended up being a long wait (cheer competition and walleye game) but it was well worth it and the staff was great. This is our go to every time we are downtown no matter the wait. Highly recommend

Holy smokes. The best pizza? I don’t wanna go too far but WOW! Don’t sleep on the cheese bread. Staff was super warm and friendly. 5 star experience!

Food was amazing! I got the de carlo and my boyfriend got the soprano deluxe. The buff dip is a must try as well!! Meatballs were good but everything so delicious we didn’t even bother. Staff is also fantastic. Can’t wait to come back.

I went there for dinner with my husband. The pizza was fantastic! And the guy that helped us was great! The only downside is that the atmosphere (especially the first floor) isn't great and for some reason there was a dirty mop water smell throughout the first and second floor? Not sure what that was from but both myself and husband noticed. I would probably just order take out in the future because like I said their food is amazing!

Outstanding pizza! Not recalled a pizza in 5+ years that matches! Still have my faves but they get an A+ in (just) pizza, service, pizza, and overall quality in food and service. My atmosphere is also a 5/5 - try them-worth it! 2 pizzas shown taken to Hensville to watch the game! Easy walk!

Just a short walk from our hotel, the kids discovered Home Slice Pizza the other day, and were so impressed by what they had that we decided to grab takeout today. We ate it so quickly, I didn't even get any pictures for the review! But you know what pizza looks like- just imagine that, but more delicious. The loaded baked potato pizza is quite possibly the best fusion pizza I've ever had. I will definitely be making a version of this once we're home! The Soprano is delicious, and certainly doesn't skimp on the toppings. The chicken Parmesan pizza was described as "great." I was impressed with the quantity and freshness of the toppings I saw before Kid 2 fell upon it. At $11 each, lunch for the family came to $44 tax included. Certainly worth every penny! TL;DR-to paraphrase Berry Gordy, "direct-a your feets-a to Home Slice Pizza!"

Absolutely amazing Tried a carnivore simple simon potatoe and another I can't think of in personal size and shared with two others also tried the Korean bbq chunks and had a few draft beers all in all it was all amazing I highly recommend this place

Probably if not the worst margarita pizza's I've ever had. Not sure how they can even call this a margarita pizza. It had more garlic on it than anything. The basil was dried ground junk, tomatoe chunks and shredded mozzarella. Not what I would call a margarita. The cheese bread was dry and not very good at all. Everything was over priced for the quality of the product served. The cheese pizza was actually pretty good believe it or not. It was the best of the three we ordered. This one really threw me. No serving utensils were given to us and the plate were PAPER PALTES!!! Are ya kidding me! The service was good, no complaints there at all. Very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a one and done for us. Way better options in Ttown with way better product. I honestly don't know how they keep the doors open with what they are serving. You go and decide though. Everyone has their own opinions.

Does it get better? Full bar upstairs, freindly staff, amazing food, and great pricing. If you are at Glass City Convention center, exit the parking garage and walk straight down the street. Best meal that I had in Toledo!

Pizza was excellent, lots of toppings on the pizza. The restaurant was very clean. We go here about four times a year.

Why Home Slice? Sunset balcony views, and delicious pizza. During the Summer, My birthday twin and I spent the evening at Home Slice. You'd think we'd dined on the balcony of some pizzeria in the Windy City based on how windy it were outside during our visit. But, I couldn't pass up the beautiful sun setting while I sunk my teeth into delicious, face-size slices of pizza. I promised myself (and my party) I would only eat 4 slices.... Six slices later, it was time to box up the last slice. No judgment, please!

Love their foldovers. I've ordered from Home Slice many times...food is hot and only one mistake ever Dasher mistake. Pizza is very.good as well.

Ate here after doing a pedal cart pub crawl. I warn you it may look dark and such on the outside and it's totally open. The pizza I had was DELICIOUS!! Excellent crust, good sauce, fresh toppings.

Mashed potato pizza and add A1 steak sauce. Perfect. Service is solid. Ambiance is solid.

A note for those hunkered down during this coronavirus pandemic, or just for those that can't go out to eat easily: Home Slice delivers via GrubHub! Recently we ordered an XXL Simon's white pizza, as well as some wings and an Italian salad. Everything was fantastic and in particular, I thought the salad was both fresh and absolutely huge. In these weird times, it's important to choose local and I think Home Slice is a great option if you're looking for a non-traditional pizza fix.

We were in the Toledo area looking for a place with gluten free options for a few family members and Home Slice Pizza popped up. Wow, it's so delicious! They had options for everyone. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, and the food came out FAST. Every single thing we ate was amazing. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I visit again. The downstairs back patio is really cool, too. It's a fenced in (looks to be about 8 foot wooden privacy fencing) and roof-covered patio with a few tables. The fact that it's covered is so nice because it's shady and keeps it really cool for a hot day like today. You order your food at the counter that is right at the front entrance and then you get a seat and they bring it out to you. Very much recommend Home Slice Pizza.

Have come here a few times for half off pizza on Tuesdays. Such a great deal and their spinach and artichoke pizza is amazing!! Good selection of beers and the service is great no matter how busy they are! A little limited on seating and can be a little cramped at times, but it's a pizza joint and it gets the job done.

GREAT PIZZA! Went for lunch today and ordered a personal pie with bacon and onion. The crust was thin and crispy, toppings were uniformly diced, evenly distributed and perfectly cooked. The sauce had a very nice sweetness to it, but not too sweet. It had a nice spice too, and cooked to perfection. Just great. My dining partner had a sub. We were sitting outside and he was really enjoying it. When he was about half done, "the guy" came out with another sandwich and said he served him the wrong sandwich! He then sat down the right sandwich. Of course he (my lunch partner) couldn't eat it so "the guy" brought a carry out box. He apologized for the mistake and never mentioned charging for it. So, this place doesn't have atmosphere whatsoever, but it's a pizza joint. The folks working there are great, the food is great, it's clean, and the service was fast. A pizza, sub and two pops was something like $25 bucks. Love the place - can't wait to go back.

This is the best pizza downtown and is in the top 3 for best pizza in Toledo! A great hole in the wall with great pizza and a good atmosphere. They also rotate beers on tap.

I have tried their pizza twice. Every one said it was good. Apparently they go to a different location than the one in downtown Toledo. I refuse to give the left over pizza to the birds. I like birds too much treat them like that.

We are at Home Slice frequently! Subs and pizza are great! Bar staff is always friendly. Prices are reasonable too! Small place but great vibe.

Staying in Toledo as a little vacation and was starving. This place was right down from where I'm staying so we came to check it out. From outside it doesn't seem very big but they actually have a bar upstairs as well as an outdoor area--that said, indoor seating is a tad limited. I would imagine if it's a Friday or Saturday evening it may be a little more difficult to find seating. It seems like it'd be pretty easy to make and pickup an order to go tho. Anyway, the food was great! XXL pizza was a pretty good value and the cheese sticks were so tasty! The bartender was attentive and we got our food pretty quick. It was hot and fresh and a great first meal to introduce us to the city. We'll definitely make this a regular stop anytime we're in the city!

We tried a couple times to get in before tonight and could not as the place is small. Tonight we did. I was so hyped. Sadly, the pizza is nothing to write home about- the crust is meh and they got our order wrong. When I said something, they didn't care. We won't be back.

Just pure awesomeness. Delicious! Buffalo chicken pizza is awesome! Salad was huge and just as good. Love this place.

Ok. Picture it...New Years Day, not in the mood to cook, so we go out to support local and get take out from Homeslice. Ughh...I hate to do this and the only reason I am is because this was ridiculous. From the moment this man answered the phone, until the moment we walked out the door from picking our food up, this man was sooo rude, cold, short. Over charged us, didn't apologize, had no manners whatsoever. On top of that we felt bad for the 2 younger kids working there with him. This guy obviously makes it a miserable work environment. My husband and I are waiting at the counter to pay, he and I both worked in the service industry for a couple of decades, so it's just our nature to look around the open kitchen. Complete filth. Like seriously trashy and disgusting. It's unfortunate we lost a local spot to support, but after everything we witnessed today, we're good off that. No thanks.

Let's try this again. Hipsters, stop, before you flag my review again, try to actually READ. The best thing about Homeslice is the service, they are super nice people. I've ordered here twice now and waited for my pie, they've always offered drinks while I wait and were courteous and quick. But I'm not here to review the service, I'm here to talk about their pizza. Here are the tenants of good NY Style Pizza: 1. Crispy yet chewy crust, crust that when you hold the slice out it doesn't flop. "NY Style" pizza isn't just "thin crust", making a pizza large and thin doesn't make it "NY Style". The crust here does not get crispy enough because they, like most places in Toledo, use a conveyer belt oven to cook their pizza. I still don't understand why Toledo loves those conveyor belt ovens. We're cooking pizzas here not pop tarts. Does it really need to pop out of the other end automatically for you? NYC has more bad pizza than good pizza, but when it's good it's REALLY good. Homeslice is the kind of place that could blend in out in Austoria Queens or something but that's about it. 2. In NYC, the sauce is more heavily seasoned than you'd typically find in other variations of pizza. Flavorful and tangy, yet not laid on super thick. The sauce might be the best thing about Homeslice. 3. If you want to know if a NY pizza shop has good pizza, try a slice of cheese first. All you need to do to test a NY pizza is order a single slice of cheese. The holy trinity of pizza is: Crust, Sauce and Cheese. You've minimized the variables to 3 and can isolate the weak link. Again, with Homeslice it's the crust and quite honestly the crust is the most important part of NY Style pizza imo. After trying Homeslice the first time and seeing my review getting flagged for no reason other than honesty, I figured I'd try it again, maybe I missed something? So, I bought the $10 for $20 Yelp deal and thought, hey for a $10 investment how bad can this be? Well, worse than the first time. The overall problem with Homeslice is that the crust is too thin and not crisp enough and the toppings are so incredibly light that by the time you get the pie home it could pretty much float away. Due to the cooking temperature and aggressively thinness this pizza is decent for about the first 5 minutes and then it just gets cold and floppy. I think Homeslice gets good reviews because the local Toledo hipsters are DYING to make Downtown seem cool. I get it. If Home Slice just bought a couple simple Blodgett ovens and tweaked their crust a bit (it doesn't need to be aggressively thin) I think they could create a solid spot. But hey, the hipsters seem to love it so I'll just "OK Boomer" myself.

Great atmosphere and food. This is your typical hole in the wall bar / pizza place. Very good! I visited on Monday when it was $5.00 personal pizza no matter the toppings. I had the Carnivore pizza. It was served hot and was delicious. I also had the meatballs appetizer. Both the pizza and meatballs appetizer was very good. If you're looking for comfort food or good pizza this is your place. I also had Jack Daniels and Coke and the drinks were not watered down and as expected. If I'm ever back in town, I'll be back. Great mom & pop place.

Love the thin crust pizza and it's nice having a restaurant open late downtown. Food is very reasonably priced and they have a lunch special for two slices and a pop for something like $7. Best lunch deal downtown. Wish they would serve slices late at night, at least on event days. I would be really nice to have a place to go besides the food trucks downtown when you are hungry and just want a slice of pizza. Fun patio in the summer and great staff and fun upstairs bar.

Such good pizza, my family and I love to come here for birthdays and the half off pizza on Tuesdays. The staff is so patient with our large family as well!

Just ordered a personal Pepperoni pizza and Cheese bread to go while in town for work and was craving Pizza. Absolutely delicious. Some of the best pie I've had in New York, Chicago, or anywhere else around. Super fast delivery, great quality, solid price.

This place is great! They do personal pan pizzas which makes room for appetizers. I had the chicken Parmesan pizza which was great. It was loaded with quality toppings and so delicious. I also had the spinach dip which was so delicious hot and again cold the next day. This place is very affordable and delicious. Pro tip- if you ask nicely they will deliver your food to the brewery across the street for free!

Not impressed have had better pizza. Burnt crust. Terrible trying to pickup the order but to be expected being downtown - won't deliver a mere 4.2 miles away. Building totally not handicap accessible stairs as soon as you enter with no handrail. Won't ever order again threw most of it away.

Having an early dinner at Homeslice pizza. All the food is absolutely wonderful including cheese bread, meatballs, Italian sub sandwich and the biggest Italian salad I've ever seen in my life. Add a nice banana bread beer and it's a perfect dinner

I've lived in Toledo my entire life, we will just say over 40 years and I've never visited until yesterday. My son requested New York Style pizza and I threw this place out there as an option. We live way out in Sylvania, almost to Berkey. Let me tell you it was worth the drive! Not only was this pizza excellent, it was half off on Tuesdays! He said it was the best pizza he's ever had! It's definitely a strong competitor to my favorite which is from out of town. We will definitely be back for more!

Large party of 20... in the way to Lights Before Christmas. Staff was amazing. They were able to put tables together without a wait. We had 6 pizzas all of which were sooooo good! Fan favorite was the potato and bbq chicken. Will definitely eat there again while in Toledo!

Meh. The pizza was mediocre. The crust has no flavor really. It really wasn't great. Maybe I have too high of standards as a Chicagoan? It sort of tasted like frozen crust and frozen cheese. But I think dominos would be better honestly.

Came here for the first time a couple days ago. I got the bbq chicken and my brother got the spinach artichoke and both were delicious!

everytime single time i go to this place the pizza dough is way too chewy and tough. it seems like i got to chew a bite for a few minutes before its small enough to swallow. it feels like i am chewing on a piece of leather. if i go to anywhere else i never have to chew on a piece of pizza like its gum. i do like to enjoy eating my piece of pizza not chew on it like raw hid. i do not like this pizza and i think they need to change up the dough. outside of that i do like the enviroment at the pizzera

This place is amazing! My friend and I met one of the managers out one night and since I'm new to the area, he was excited to recommended us to come here. We had some slices, chicken chunks, and mozzarella sticks. The place had a very fun family feel and the employees were all joking and chatting which I loved to see. The slice was great! Reminded me of some slices I had in NY at the million places there are to try and I love pizza. Win win. The mozzarella sticks were good, we waited too long to eat them the first time but I reheated with the air fryer and they were good! The best for me was the chicken chunks. The BBQ sauce is SO good and they have a little char flavor. Will definitely be back!

Food, excellent!!! I highly recommend the de Carlo!! Service, always great! It gets busy upstairs so you may wait a minute. Only reason I can't give 5 stars is because of that. Add one more person upstairs and it will flow so much better. As soon as I walk in I definitely get an east coast pizza joint. Music is good, trivia nights are fun as hell and service good. I hope this place last long!

When I stay in this area for work I often order here for delivery to my hotel. Great salad selections, Nice quality buffalo wings, and nice pizza. Not a huge fan on how they cut the pizza into many slices but the toppings and qualty is good. Reasonable Prices

Disappointed. In town for work and wanted to try based on all the reviews. Ordered the St St. Clair Stromboli with garlic mushroom and black olives well done. Received an undercooked Stromboli with mushroom, overly minced garlic and green olives. Dough was way undercooked.

They can call it whatever they want, but it's not New York style...mainly because the crust isn't crispy enough. Still, though, the pizza from Home Slice is pretty good thin crust pizza, but, in my opinion, it's nothing unique. Of course, I think Gino's is the best ever, so my personal taste might not be the perfect metric for some people. The place itself is always a solid choice if you're downtown. The atmosphere is laid back, especially the upstairs bar and open air patio/deck. I wouldn't mind going here to start, or end, a night of drinking, all while eating some pretty good pie.

***This is based on a takeout order only*** Doordash had a great deal for pizza, so we went for it and chose Home Slice Pizza since we've always walked by it downtown but never had a chance to go. We ordered the cheese bread, Italian salad, potato pizza, spinach & artichoke pizza, and buffalo chicken pizza. Pros: Cheese bread - great portion size and flavor. There were a quite a few pieces on the ends without any cheese though which was a bit disappointing. Salad - huge portion and very fresh Spinach and artichoke pizza - I love spinach and artichoke dip, so this was going to be a winner. Crust was also cooked how I like it. Not as great: Potato pizza - a bit underwhelming. Boyfriend described it as "whole pizza was not better than the sum of its parts" aka pizza and mashed potatoes are good separately but weren't that great together Buffalo chicken pizza - I could tell from looking at it that this was going to be a miss. The chicken pieces looked like they had just been defrosted and nuked in the microwave. There was barely any cheese to counteract the overabundance of buffalo sauce that made the pizza extremely tangy. Toppings were weirdly scarce on this pizza

Walked in for a quick D.o.R.a drink with my lady paid with card and tipped in cash this weekend, they charged my card double my bill for tip.

Needed a quick bite on the way home & this place is definitely a hidden gem. We got a large pizza with 4 toppings AND a cinnabread, for under 20$ 15 min wait and the people inside are so nice. 10/10

great service, brady and hannah were excellent, drinks were top tier, bradys beard is well kept he makes excellent shots, speedy service, hannah was a show stopper funny and always made sure we were taken care of!! we will be coming back

Homeslice has had its ups and downs over the years. It's always been a chill, kinda funky small weird pizza joint, but in recent years it seems to have settled into itself and found its groove (though many still yearn for free bacon night). Still near paper thin but without the blitzkreig grease content, these days Homeslice is piling bright veggies and toppings on top of their signature crispy edged but playfully floppy thin crust and choosing not to bury the ingredients in cheese. It's a bold move but a totally right one. The pies are good, the other menu items are ok as well and the beer selection is pretty solid. For a fun night to kick it at the bar with some pals and share a couple pies, Homeslice is a great and unique downtown staple.
