Can’t believe our group cycled by this neighborhood for 2 years and never saw this cafe. A wonderful & cozy venue serving up great empanadas! 🥇🥇 The cheese with beef was good but the chicken & corn gets the gold medal 🥇. Great hospitality and cyclist friendly. The name HOME SWEET HOME really fits the theme. 🙏🏻

Google
Very nice customer service and the food was fresh and delicious. The empanadas were hot and filled nicely. The desserts were sweet and flavorful. They even had one of my favorite candy bars Super Ocho!

Issei K.

Google
Churasco sandwich is on another level! I had this sandwich, 2 empanadas and it was very good. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Google
There were 3 of us. We had 2 Baymen on a roll and 1 Pine Island on a hero. Each sandwich has grilled chicken as the meat. The grilled chicken was tender and most flavorful but there was so much of it on each sandwich that we had to take half of each sandwich home. All the ingredients taste very fresh. Then we had 3 different homemade delicious deserts. There are also special Chilean dishes which we have to try next time we come. We have gone out of our way to eat here every time we are on the North Shore of Long Island. The prices are very reasonable - dare I say low, but I hope the owner doesn't read this and increase them. I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but this place deserves it.

Google
We stopped by because of Google reviews. The store was unassuming and we came after a walk at Planting Field. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a beef sandwich. Plus ended up buying empanadas to go and a piece of apricot cake. Everything was really tasty...the breads are crunchy outside and soft inside. The empanadas were so heavy...filled!! Everything's so good

Google
Food was fresh and tasty. Very nice customer service. Had empanadas and desserts.

Google
This is a little cafe that can fill a big hunger. We came here for a quick lunch before taking a tour at a local museum. I got the Churrasco (sandwich) and it was great. Their home made bread rocks and they put on a thick layer of grilled beef with mayo and guacamole for a great finish. My wife a daughter got small (not even small ) soups. We liked it so much that if we can, we will go back tomorrow. Tip, order the Chilean dishes.

Google
We wondered upon this deli by chance. We weee greeted with big smiles and a joyous atmosphere. What a great start. It continued with great food for us both at a reasonable cost. These days a place like this is a diamond in the rough so shhh. I took no food pictures, my daughter is into that, besides we ate is pretty quickly, very good food!!! I do have a couple of pics in case you are in the area.

Yelp
We've been coming to his little cafe for well over 3 years! It is very hard to come by Chilean food so it's always a staple stop before we do some walking around oyster bay. The service is well even when they are busy they are fast and efficient to help you. The food was good besides one of our churrasco orders had a small hair in it. While I do see some staff in the back wearing hair nets it would be great if all who handled food did. The ambiance is your typical cafe style. Small and homey but well themed. The entrance to get in isn't stroller friendly but inside has an abundance of high chairs. Overall I am still a loyal customer and will be coming back minus the mishap. I love fresh made bread and good Chilean food and you will find it here.

Yelp
Food = A+ Service = A+ Enough said! I am excited to return and try more of their delicious dishes!

Mark E.

Yelp
It's changed. The japelenos are from a jar.last 4 orders were not good. Ice cold hot chocolate. The jalapeños were embarrassing. It was jar. They stopped doing the real chilies
google avatar

Yelp
Great little Chilean deli. Wish they had more products from Chile, like San Antonio in Valley Stream. The homemade bread is definitely very delicious. If you're in Oyster Bay, stop on by for some great lunches.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff is very nice and selection is huge. That said, this place just isn't for me. I've tried many different food items over a couple visits and I'm not a fan. I'm glad others disagree through since they seem like a quality business.

Rich M.

Yelp
I go here for the Chilean food mainly, which is excellent. I recommend the churrasco, its steak, tomato, mayo, and avocado on a homemade roll .

Yelp
Came across this cafe while awaiting my baby at VCG around the corner. I got their beef empanada, the chicken and the chicken/corn. The filling was tasty. Although I find these to be more of a hand pie (baked) rather than an empanada which to me are usually deep fried. Also the pie part was a bit thick/dense for my liking. side note, they give you this pickled onion condiment with the empanada and that was delish! i also got their alfajor, it was very good. wanted to get 3 but they only had 1 left. i also asked about the baked casserole i saw on yelp and the chicken pot pie but the very nice staff told me that is not available and to call ahead for it. will be back soon to try out a few other items like their home made bread and the churassco.

Yelp
I stop in this tiny delicious shop every time I work in the area. The owner is delightful and puts a lot of care into all she makes. Stand outs are the soups and delicious Alfajor cookies! Definitely worth checking out for breakfast lunch etc! Nice place very homey and sweet like the name!
google avatar

Yelp
What a gem on Long Island! Authentic, flavorful, made with family recipes and love dishes, sandwiches and sweet treats. One empanada is a meal they are baked and full of flavor. Breakfast sandwiches full of "wake you up" flavor. Have I mentioned flavor? You know you are eating something special. The muffins! Gigantic and what muffins should be! And do not miss the Alfajores. What a treat. Owners and staff are friendly and helpful. Couple tables inside and out, or take your goodies down to Teddy Roosevelt beach for a delightful picnic. Well done HSHC! And thanks for such a special place.
google avatar

Yelp
So so good! This is another spot where if I could I'd kick Yelp a few bucks to thank it for pointing me here. The empanadas are the bomb! We got the beef and the chicken, both were delicious, but if you're only getting one, definitely get the chicken. It's something special. And the onion salsa/chutney is so so good with it. It you're in the area, definitely stop here for an empanada or two. We also brought home a chicken pot pie and it was equally delicious! The pastry here is so on point and the chicken filling was so flavorful! This is also totally worth it!

Yelp
Sweet business offering homemade breakfast and coffee. Perfect for those who avoids chain restaurants and support small businesses.
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
Nice spot for a quick breakfast. No frills, good sandwiches, and excellent empanadas. But the unexpected highlight was the alfajor on display at the counter. I had to google it and could describe it as an almondy dulce de leche cookie sandwich. We got egg sandwiches to eat there (the homemade bread is really interesting and nice with eggs) and a beef empanada and an alfajor to go.
google avatar

Jacob H.

Yelp
Nicest people and the best empanadas and sandwiches ever!! I make the 20 minute drive whenever I can.
google avatar

Jay Y.

Yelp
Home cooked food at its best! HSH will not disappoint. Owner and head chef Jen is originally from Chile, and offers traditional Spanish cuisine along with American favorites. If you have the willpower, you can pass on their homemade desserts...but you only live once; right? A real gem in the shell of Oyster Bay.

Lauren N.

Yelp
What a wonderful find in the cute town of Oyster Bay! The food is delicious and everyone working in the cafe was kind and attentive. We will be back soon!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Im working my way through the menu which has items with a latin flair along with some deli staples-which is great because my husband is not adventurous when it comes to food. Highlights-The fresh baked bread rolls and it's like nothing Ive had anywhere; light and fluffy but holds up to any sandwich, my favorite so far is the egg, chorizo, carmelized onion! Empanadas- big and stuffed full of goodness- chicken & corn and beef are my favs. DESSERTS-OMG! There's a shortbread cookie, actually 2, with dulce de leche in the middle then the edges are rolled in coconut. Peach cake- 3 layers of sponge cake with fresh whipped cream, the wonderful dulce de leche and chunks of peaches. There are daily menu specials too. The owner, Jennifer, is friendly and the staff (pretty much all women) are quick. Just GO! You'll find something you love.

Yelp
I have to say, you wouldn't expect such great flavors from a small lowkey place.. but then again, these lowkey places always have the best food! I had the Chilean chicken sandwich AMAZING AND KEEPS YOU FULL! The empanada was amazing, the breakfast sandwiches were awesome! 5/5 stars for sure.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
This Home Sweet Home deli is the BEST Latin American deli EVER! Churasca and chicken empanada with onion salsa were delicious! "Corn pie" (corn mash atop shredded carne asada and onions) is different, but very, very good! Authentic taste. Would drive here whenever I would want an excellent foodie experience. Nice staff too!!!
google avatar

Ben P.

Yelp
Had the lunch special which was white rice, chicken chunks & multi colored peppers. It was very good & I will certainly return.
google avatar

Jamie K.

Yelp
So grateful for this gem! I picked up a few empanadas, a corn pie (SO GOOD), and a grilled chicken salad, and all were so delicious! The owner was so sweet and helpful. I am gluten free, so the owner walked me around the store to tell me about each of the options. Next time I'll try calling ahead for a gluten free empanada, as those are made fresh to order. They can also make any of their sandwiches with homemade gluten free bread. Thank you, Home Sweet Home Cafe!

Crist T.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. They have quick grab and go Chilean food as well as deli options. Try the "Churrasco" sandwich or the beef empanadas. The employees are super friendly. I usually grab food here and go to the park nearby.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Amazing, simply amazing!!! Best deli food and more. The chef does an amazing job preparing delicious hot foods in a charming and welcoming environment. There is a HUGE selection of gluten free hot foods that are amazing. You must go to this place if you have a gluten allergy. Highly recommend coming here if you are in the Oyster Bay area.
google avatar

Jack P.

Yelp
Excellent food. Great staff. Makes you feel at home. Never ate something I did not like. Empanadas are to die for
google avatar

Connie D.

Yelp
Delicious empenadas!! They have bagels, breakfast, lunch.. sit in or take out. They were just taking apple strudel out of the oven. Smells divine in there!!
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Home Sweet is a great deli. Their breakfast sandwiches are very good. They have a unique menu serving Central American cuisine. The Empanadas were great. I highly recommend to any visitors from out of the area.

Layla M.

Yelp
Lovely people who make such incredible comfort food. The chicken empanadas are a personal favorite but everything else has always been top tier
google avatar

Juan L.

Yelp
Empanadas are really good. Definitely worth your time. service is great and friendly
google avatar

Tarragon V.

Yelp
I ordered the Churrasco sandwich, the Barros Luco sandwich and the Carne empanada. There wasn't anything that stood out but the taste was very homey. My friend commented that the Barros Luco was a bit dry, but the empanada and the Churrasco were perfect.

Claudette S.

Yelp
I had an alfajore which had a creamy caramel filling with coconut flakes. A real homemade treat. I took home two homemade Empanadas, which proved to be delicious. I look forward to returning soon.
google avatar

Thom H.

Yelp
If something were to compete with the classic BEC, it would be the chorizo & egg sandwich at Home Sweet Home. Find me another deli who makes breakfast sandwiches with their own bread. It doesn't exist! The owner is very nice, and takes pride in her homemade food. The empanadas look delicious. Get anything with their homemade dulce, you won't be sorry (esp. the alfajors). Some say the coffee is excellent, I wouldn't be surprised. Me, I'll get my coffee from Southdown around the way. But if it's eggs, it's HSH!
google avatar

Jim T.

Yelp
Sausage egg and cheese sandwich is excellent, come with coffee for $5. Will definitely return.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a hidden gem. It's very clean and well maintained and everything I ordered so far was excellent. Their coffee is really good, strong and flavorful (someone told me they get it from Brooklyn), so are their empanadas, Chilean Breakfast sandwiches and entrees. A special mention goes to their home made bread which makes everything taste better. The staff is also very nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Natasha R.

Yelp
Authentic Chilean sandwiches and empanadas. The lemon merengue pie tastes like my grandma made it, thick, custardy, and not too sour. The table next to us had big bowls of lentil soup that smelled delicious. We had cheese and a chicken corn empanada, both steaming hot and flavorful. The churrasco, a steak sandwich with tomato and avocado was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Service was great- friendly, quick and efficient. Prices are low. The location is small but clean and cozy. We will definitely be back.

Sam D.

Yelp
Fantastic Chilean food. We got a beef empanada, a veggie empanada, the bean & corn stew, homemade bread, and alfajores. I would happily get all of them again. The beef empanada was especially excellent--flavorful and rich, with a sturdy and crispy shell (even after 20 minutes in a carry out bag). I also loved the alfajores, which had great cookies (not too crumbly or powdery). The food was perfect for a nearby picnic. Absolutely would recommend and would return.

Yelp
This is a gem! Best empanadas not just beef, they have chicken, vegg, seafood, cheese and gluten free also! Their home made bread is made daily which you know is fresh, jen the owner who is also a chef is so nice and the place is so clean. Love love it!

Just D Truth F.

Yelp
Today I tried the beef empanada and the pastel de choclo, it was all very tasty and filling. Small place with street parking. The staff was friendly and accommodating . Will go again

Yelp
I'm going to be totally honest here because... 1. I was born in Chile and 2. I was raised as a Chilean in the U.S... First.. young lady behind the counter helping cash out, be more respectful to your elders (was your mom helping me behind the counter at the cash register?). Your personality drives what they have worked so hard to build these past 2 years (as the lady behind the counter told me, she's been at the location for 2yrs.. unfortunately I didn't ask what everyone relationship to each other was... Guessing or speculating it's all family).... BUT! Young lady behind the counter, I also watched you run from behind the counter to open the door for an elderly man after he ordered his "to-go" order, so I commend you and your parents at the same time. Now!!! To the food... Everyyyyyy thing from my "negrita" to my churrasco/barros sandwich (order the churrasco with cheese and grilled onions!!! OMGGGG!!!)was amazing...BUT.. (going to do this in Spanish) Señores!!! Empanadas sin huevo?!?!? Nooooooo!!! Una empanada TAN ricaaaa SIN huevo (we bought 2) no es una típica empanada Chilena... Pero el pino.. esquisito! Anyhow... This place has so much potential to be so much more amazing on Long island... And by the way... The "unicorn horn" is not called that... It's called a "cachito" (I kept expressing to my girlfriend how much I disliked that the changed the name) and though I didn't eat one, I can assure you it'll be Amazing... Enjoy!

V O.

Yelp
Great little spot for a sandwich, salad or empanadas. Super nice staff, clean and homey, really can't say a bad thing about it. Come and try for yourself! Oh yummy home made deserts too!
google avatar

Nancy T.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. If you come to Oyster Bay, you will want to try Home Sweet Home. It's Chilean home cooked food. They make their own bread. I got the beef empanada and it is fantastic. Super savory and deliciously spiced. My husband got the egg and chorizo sandwhich which was also great. But if I were you I'd get the empanada. You will also experience a friendly, warm atmosphere. They were so kind and sweet to us and our very messy baby too :)
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Nice new deli in town! Finally! So happy to have another option. If you don't try the empanadas you're doing it all wrong. Just had the Spicy Empanada and it was delicious. Good bacon egg & cheese breakfast sandwich. I'll be back.

Providence C.

Yelp
Absolutely the best empanadas I have ever tasted! The alfajor cookies are the most delectable cookies I've ever tasted! Jennifer and staff are extremely nice and most helpful. The food is consistently tasty. All of the food is home made and the sweets are like Mom has made them, you can taste the love! The absolutely best and most tastiest food in Oyster Bay and I have to say on Long Island. Thanks so very much Home Sweet Home Cafe, finally great food! We are extremely grateful for an excellent eatery in our hometown.

Mike T.

Yelp
Must try...empanadas are out of this world, some of the best I've ever had. Family owned business, the staff is really friendly. They have a ton of different food, something for everyone

Melia C.

Yelp
Everything they have is simple and delicious! The owner is very friendly and accommodating, and the prices are great. The empanadas and egg sandwiches are especially good. Try the homemade Chilean bread!

John D.

Yelp
Nice little place! Tasty breakfast sandwiches & home fries. Homemade bread & really friendly folks running the place.. i would recommend for anyone wanting a quick breakfast or lunch at a reasonable price

Lonnie M.

Yelp
Friendly environment, pleasant staff with a seating area which makes you feel like "home." Great empanadas and the deserts are made by the owner, a former pastry chef. Don't forget to order the Carrot cake, a must have.

Cristian P.

Yelp
Walked in not knowing it this place is a Chilean food restaurant where my parents are from and the breakfast was great. Super simple nice people.
