40 Affordable Places to Eat in NYC

"Specializing in Chicago-style hot dogs, Dog Day Afternoon is named after an Al Pacino movie about a bank robbery that was partly shot on the same block of Windsor Terrace. The hot dog boasts a couple of small innovations (New York style pickles, for example, and sweet miniature plum tomatoes), but otherwise the genre remains intact. Get a free bag of chips with every red hot, and the jambalaya is not bad, either." - Robert Sietsema

We love homedoggy! Have been coming here since our dog Howard was a puppy so about 4.5 years. He always comes out looking so fresh and clean. The staff is so extremely friendly and it’s reassuring that our boy is in such good hands. He’s a cairn terrier so he requires a hand stripping haircut and they always do a great job. Recently, wanted to have his face trimmed a bit more than usually and just provided a picture reference and when we picked him up it was exactly as requested. Groomers bathing always great as well, never disappointed. Highly recommend!

I absolutely LOVE Homedoggy! I take my dog there for daycare and occasional boarding, and I never have to worry because I know he is well taken care of. He is always so excited to see all the staff, and sometimes when I'm out walking him, we'll run into walkers from Homedoggy and they know him immediately. One time when I let them know my dog had been sick, they thoughtfully called me the next day just to check on how he was doing because the staff was worried about him. I would recommend them to anyone!

Simply amazing!!! They pulled off an AKC show dog cut for my 6mo Poodle puppy!!! She suffered a terrible autoimmune attack (NOT contagious AT ALL, don’t worry) & lost a lot of skin and hair before she was treated. The vets absolutely butchered her coat treating her wounds. It was a real hack job, but medically necessary. On top of that, we could not groom her at all while she was on immunosuppressants for risk of illness or infection so her hair grew to about 3 inches w/ random shaved spots everywhere. We wanted to treat her with a special fancy haircut for all she’s been through. The groomer transformed her into such a beauty!! They were very kind and personable and even gave a little discount because we were first time customers. They are the best! Will definitely come back. Her fancy cut was priced high(understandably, and it was still a fair price for that cut), but originally our quote for a regular cut and groom was very reasonable! Everyone I’ve spoken to over the phone is very kind and communicative. They really seem to care about their everyone’s furbabies & the satisfaction of their clients. PS - I typically never bother taking the time to write reviews, srsly. But Homedoggy deserves it!

Our miniature poodle got his haircut & teeth brushing and he came home absolutely beautiful! Since I like to keep his muzzle fluffy I asked for teddy bear cut, and got what we wanted :) coming back again !

The staff is amazing. My dog Oliver loves to go there for boarding, grooming and day care. I have had my dog for over 6 years. I will not leave him with anyone else. Excellent all around!! Migdalia

Google
Homedoggy is a great place for daycare, boarding and grooming. My dog pulls me down the street to get inside and always walks in and out of Homedoggy with his tail wagging. The staff is responsive to questions and requests and stays in communication during boarding or daycare. They do an excellent groom and take their time to get it right and make sure the dogs are happy. I highly recommend them.

Google
What a nice job the folks at Homedoggy did for Theo's grooming. They turned our beloved boy back into the handsome doggy who was under all of that hair. Theo was treated with care and kindness and appears to have had a stress-free experience during his grooming. Our advice: be specific as to the type of grooming you want. The folks at Homedoggy will not disappoint. Great Job!

Google
Dropped my 2 dogs off at this place for 10 days. Picked up both dogs less than a week ago and they both are extremely sick, they weren’t home for 24 hours before the coughing started and now one dog continues throwing up. Sent message to “homedoggy” 2 days ago and still no response, please be extremely careful leaving animals there. For the price of over 2k I expected my dogs to be good health.

Yelp
My favorite daycare and overnight puppy hotel is fantastic! I absolutely love the staff and how sweet they are to my dog, Lily. She visits often and always comes home with a big smile on her face. Whenever she gets groomed, they add super special little touches (since she has short hair - they might put a little gem on her forehead or give her a cute bandana), which always gives me something to look forward to. I love them for their kindness, and convenience and thankfully my girl loves them too.

Yelp
HomeDoggy groomer Julie (or Julia?) sliced a chunk of my dog's foot pad completely off. I cannot stress enough the lack of care and animal cruelty in their grooming practices - do not take your beloved pets here. On the recommendation of a friend related to the tooth/tarter cleaning services, I booked an appointment at HomeDoggy. The manager of HD told me they couldn't book teeth cleaning until they groomed my dog to understand his temperament, fine. I booked a full grooming (bath & cut). First, when I picked up my dog, his haircut was not at all what we discussed and he looked silly/ridiculous (he is an 84lb poodle-mix and we just wanted a shave, they gave him a more "traditional" poodle cut, which looked nuts). This is beside my point... on our walk home I noticed his foot was bleeding. When I got home I realized they cut off part of the padding on his back heel! Like, actually shaved off his foot pad. Our vet prescribed us an antiseptic soak to relieve pain and help it heal without infection. I had his tooth cleaning appointment booked for the following week. I had reservations, but also wanted to speak to management about what happened with his foot. As soon as we walked in the door my dog had a full blown panic attack... crying, heavy breathing and drooling, full body quivering. Clearly this is NOT a safe place for him. I shared my experience with the manager and took my dog home. I will never let HomeDoggy near my dog again, and I really hope you don't either. Once I got home, I did a quick Google search and wish I would have looked into this prior to our grooming, but HomeDoggy has a history of abuse (same owners, different business name). They've paid a lot to rebrand and scrub those bad reviews. Don't be fooled. Protect your pet. Do not support or trust this business.

Yelp
I am disappointed and despite having been a repeat customer will no longer be coming to Home Doggy. I have brought my 22 lb 12 year old dog who tends to be anxious, here several times in the past and had been happy with how she was groomed. The past couple times I was surprised by the duration and wondered why the delay beyond the predicted 3-4 hrs and when I called was told, she's ready! Why I had not been notified was not explained[this occurred twice]. Today I was told when I took her at 1130am that she may not be ready for 3-4 hrs. Because of my past experience, I checked in at that point and was told she'd be ready at 430pm. I checked at 430pm and was told groomer needed 30 more min. until 5pm. So I went there at 5pm and waited until 530pm for her to be brought by groomer. My dog spent 6 hrs there and practically galloped home and headed straight for her water bowl to drink for several minutes so it seems no water was provided for her. I also learned that instead of any standard pricing, the groomer decides on the spot how much to charge and the price seems to have gone up and up over the last few groomings. I will share that the groomer herself seemed to have taken care with the cut and so I am happy with the actual cut but the groomer must have been overloaded with dogs today for mine to have been so delayed and the communication was disappointing. Thank you to the groomer. I'd suggest to the groomer to take your skills somewhere where your time will be honored and customers are told realistic time frames.

Yelp
I brought my scruffy looking Cavashon in for a grooming and I picked up a prince. The staff was courteous and offered good suggestions and Alfie went in nervous but left calm and relaxed.

Yelp
I've been bringing my dog to HomeDoggy for over two years. They give her a full grooming. She always looks amazing. Her haircuts are always perfect and she always comes back happy. The staff at HomeDoggy are always friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
If you have a dog who is a breed that requires the slightest bit of knowledge/research in order to groom properly-- do NOT GO TO HOMEDOOGGY. I waited a year to write this review because that is how long it has taken for my dog's coat to return to its original texture/length. I am understanding when it comes to people making mistakes. But the way this place handled their mistake- and the way we ere treated was just absolutely ridiculous. And other people in Park Slope seeking this service should know. When we came in to have our dog groomed- we specifically discussed with the front desk person how we only wanted a very minor TRIM and just a cleaning. In fact...the front desk person (who was lovely by the way) took PHOTOS of what I described both wanting AND NOT WANTING. AND wrote in notes in their system to the groomer- "DO NOT SHAVE OR CUT SHORT". Well....when I came to pick up my puppy....they had shaved off both the top and under coat of his entire body. Leaving only the neck - also very short- cut down. If you are to simply google how to groom a pomsky....the very FIRST thing that comes up is NOT TO SHAVE their coat, as it actually messes with their protective top coat which protects them from a handful of things including UV damage as well as actually provides cooling. The haircut also just looked absolutely ridiculous. I mean he is still always beautiful- but this cut was horrific. I just want to mention here that prior to this butchery- we as owners combed and brushed our dog's fur DAILY. So matting was NOT an issue. We just wanted him to get a summer trim/cleaning prior to us leaving for a family vacation. When I confronted them, in shock, we were eventually connected to the owner who was.......I mean. So unbelievably rude, condescending, and was also caught in a LIE. He told us they did not shave the dog's fur- yet the groomer who was there at the time showed us the razor they used and confirmed they in fact, did shave the top coat. The owner should be ashamed of how he handles his business. A liar, unknowledgeable of all breeds, unprofessional and a con artist. Very little pisses me off enough to come on here and leave a Karen review- but our dog did not look the same for a year and struggled in the heat throughout the entire summer.

Yelp
I just brought my Maltese to HomeDoggy for the first time, and she looks absolutely beautiful after her grooming appointment! Her haircut is exactly what I asked for (puppy cut around the face and an inch off everywhere else). The man I dealt with was super responsive, communicative, and caring. They also did ask for vaccination records a week before the appointment so I'm not sure what the comment below was referring to. The appointment took 3 hours (8am drop off, text around 10:40 to tell me she would be ready in 20 mins, and then 11am pickup). This is very normal for groomers based on past experience at other salons. Overall super happy with my dog's grooming and will be coming back soon!

Just M.

Yelp
Very caring groomers - patient and kind staff. They love dogs and it shows. Pricey but worth it.

Yelp
It's been a year since this awful groom and my dog's hair still has not grown back fully. The hair that has grown back is choppy and uneven. I'm so angry about this. Do NOT go here.

Jennica C.

Yelp
Do not take your dog here for boarding or daycare. I left my dog for 1 night and she came back with a big cut next to her eye, and they claimed that she got it from playing with a bigger dog. My dog goes to the dog park every day and has had another big dog stay with us and nothing like this has ever happened, regardless of how rowdy they play. She is the most socialized dog and has always backed away from any dog with any signs of aggression. They clearly weren't watching them closely enough or it could've been an aggressive dog (they're supposed to do temperament checks prior to letting them in). Regardless, it was negligence and it should not happen on their watch when you entrust them with your dog's care. They gave me Neosporin for the cut, but when I spoke to my vet they said not to use it since it was so close to her eye. They clearly don't know what they're doing here.

Yelp
Call me overprotective, but Homedoggy set off a few red flags for me. I walked in and made a 9am appointment for grooming a few weeks ago. Two days ahead of my appointment I received a text asking if I wanted to move my appointment to 12pm - I declined. I'll note that the text didn't indicate that it was coming from Homedoggy, or that it was about the grooming appointment at all - I had to ask what they were referring to as I had various appointments scheduled. When I showed up this morning, after having drugged my dog to calm him down, they told me that the appointment was made for 10am. Fine. Mistakes happen, especially with schedules. At this point they tell me that they can make it work, and they'll just put him in their daycare until the groomer was ready, and that he'd be ready by 2:30pm. First off, you're just going to put a dog into your daycare without any knowledge of his temperament? Second, why on earth is it going to take 4.5 hours to groom a 13 pound dog with an appointment? Bark Slope takes 2 hours on average. Finally, I realized they never asked me for any vaccination records - so they were going to put my dog in their daycare with no knowledge of his health status, which leads me to believe that they don't check the vaccination status of any of their dogs. Was hopeful that I would be able to find a groomer that didn't have extremely long lead times, but it feels like I dodged a bullet. Imma stick with Bark Slope.

Yelp
Pros: good, efficient service and my dog looks good and seems happy at the end. Cons: $140 to have a dog bathed, groomed and teeth brushed. Oh, my dog weighs 8 lbs. $140. Yep. And, I got hair all over me when I picked her up. Don't that have vacuums for that? I like Home Doggy but that price is nuts.

Yelp
I wish I could rate this place lower (and I don't give bad reviews). The first time I came in, the cut was fine but the groomer had sprayed so much fragrance on her I had to put her in the tub immediately (which while I have sensitivities to fragrances, this had never happened before after a groom). The second time - oof. I can't believe. I asked for my 14 year old shih tzu to have a short puppy cut - less than half of the hair she had. They didn't listen - at all. And she came back with barely a trim and totally uneven - especially her face. I said, hey, this isn't what I asked for, this is way too long. Can you do like half or this? And they asked for me to return the next morning - which I did, gladly - and still tipped them when I paid. I just picked her up and I have never seen a shih tzu or really any dog cut like this. When I tried to talk to the owner, he brushed me off and said I wanted it shorter, so it was on me. This is not halfway between what it was - this is a straight up buzz cut - even on her face. And it's winter. When I tried to talk to the owner about it - he was flippant - and within half a block of leaving I decided no, this is ridiculous. Many moons ago I worked as a groomer at my family's vet hospital/grooming assistant, this is just the worst cut I've ever seen - so I went back and tried to ask for a refund and he literally closed the door on me because another customer was there. Dude, I've seen that you don't leave the door open and you don't wear masks - no way I'm coming inside. Moral of the story - the owner is a grade A jerk, who said at first he wouldn't refund me, but then said he would - so I guess we'll see - and who also took revenge on me and my dog (in winter) when I asked for it to be shorter. I would never trash a business, especially a small one, but this - unacceptable.

Yelp
I wish I can give them no stars. I went to them in the past and they messed up his haircut. But it was an easy fix. This time he went in looking like a fluffy schnauzer and came out looking like a Chihuahua. I asked for short body to the skin and a schnauzer face with short beard And straight across eyebrows instead of slanted. I feel that it makes them look very mean. And to boot they quoted me $100 prior on the website it says $100 and they want to charge me 115. This place also messed up his first appointment. I should've taken that as this place does not know what they're doing anymore. When all this stuff happen the owner couldn't even confront me. He had one of his workers. Will never go back do not suggest this place.

Yelp
Horrible. Made my dog unrecognizable. Cut my dog. Dog got home saw the cut and the groomer claims she forgot to say something. My dog is not the same happy puppy she was when she left this chop shop. The groomer spoke not one bit of english so she claimed. Defintely getting sued for negligence. Her whose name is Yuliegh. Anthony claims he didnt even know her last name. Was trying to let me dog leave injured and hoped we wouldnt notice and make it our fault. Smh. DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR DOG TO THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE LIARS AND THEY HURT YOUR DOG AND GAVE MY DOG A CRAZY CUT WHERE SHE IS UNRECOGNIZABLE. NOT THE SAME DOG.

M E.

Yelp
I am all about supporting small local businesses but this is outrages and I cannot stay shut about it. I took my dog for a cut at noon today. I was VERY specific on not to cut his hair too short, NOT to give him a poodle look, and gave measurements and inspiration pics. 5.5h later I got a text to pick him up. They had pretty much shaved his body and the head shape- I don't even know how to describe that. Needless to say I complained and just got a text saying the groomer cut his hair shorter bcs he was matted- I brush my dog's hair EVERY DAY and he got a bath 2 days ago. UNACCEPTABLE.

Yelp
I made my appointment for Saturday morning for a face cut for pebbles. When I first came to the establishment I spoke to the owner and he suggested come twice a month once for face treatment . Only because her eyes get bad with discharge . He told me we would give her a face cut and shampoo for 40 plus tax and tip . Then the following two weeks we would give pebbles a full groom for the full price . I agreed to that . Since then it's never been what we spoke about. Actually since then I've never seen the owner after our discussion. Now I get charged 50 for face plus 15 for shampoo ?!! Plus tip . Should that not be included with the 50 ?! The bill came to , with tip comes out to 87 dollars for a face cut? Isn't that a going price for a basic groom?! I didn't say much about it. I was willing to move forward with this business any how. what got me furious wasn't the price . It was the fact that they brought me the wrong dog!!! instead of expressing to me.(ok sir ,I'm sorry for the confusion . I must of gotten them the dogs mixed up. Do you have a picture of her? )That Would of been the perfect response . insisted the response was . (No sir this is your dog) . I told him repeating over and over that's not my dog. Can you please get my dog! He kept insisting to me that's your dog . Mind you pebbles is 7 pounds and the dog they were giving me was over 15 pounds. I was getting more and more irate. Thinking if they are willing to release this dog to me, then what if they released pebbles to a client that didn't pay attention . Hardly unlikely but it's possible . They showed me a picture if a different dog. And said this is your dog . I told them for the tenth time that's not my dog !! So they went to another room and pulled another dog that wasn't mine . As well . Now 10 min go by and I'm thinking where is my dog ? They would not take my word . The groomer and the front desk , They both looked puzzled . I was now sweating and concerned. So still They kept trying to push a strange dog onto me. I explained in rage, I brought my dog to this place with a fall beige coat on . ( Thank god). They immediately went down stairs and gave me my dog. Unbelievable for 10 long mins I was Relieved !!!! As I was driving home shocked thinking they gave my dog to another customer. As they almost gave someone else's dogs to me . Almost home , I get a phone call from them thinking I'm going to get another response like . (We are awfully sorry for the confusion can we make it up to u? on your next visit and we will give you a free groom on us. Again we apologize for this mishaps .) that wasn't the response I got . I got this response instead . (Hello KEITH you didn't pay.) Demanding I come back and pay for the partial groom. I was told I didn't pay imagine how A palled I was for being accused of leaving an establishment without paying I'm no thief. Not only did they lose my dog , they insulted me insinuating I was a thief ?!! I explained to him that I paid for the partial groom . he insisted I didn't . Now I'm on the phone cross examining our payment process . I had to jog his memory and then he finally remembered . I've never been so insulted , stressed and angry , bringing my dog to a groomer before . It's been a highly anxious and disturbing morning. My dog is with me for 15 years and to think they gave her away was upsetting . I usually keep my t pebbles tag on her but when I groom her I tend to keep the collar with me. Not any more lol .. I don't think I will be doing business with you any longer because of this incident . You guys need a better system. Sent from my iPhone

Yelp
1st time: His left dewclaw nail was LEFT UNCUT had caused a nasty INFECTION from it having grown inward. I only found out after seeing his constant licking. Took him to his Vet, cost $100 to fix the problem. 2nd time: Their earwax cleaner, that liquid stuff along with bit of ear wax was stuck to his hair near the ear, UNWASHED away. Initially I thought it might be an ear infection, until I washed off that brown bit of stuff, smell gone. Clearly, it was an irresponsible grooming job. 3rd time: The most horrendous of all! When I went to pick him up, his back left paw was BLEEDING profusely! The groomer apologized for having CUT HIS SKIN while cutting his nail. (I rather regretted not having taking a photo there and then.) After nearly one hour of explaining to the owner, at one point, resorting to yelling (rude, perhaps, but was the only way to be heard apparently) a 10% discount was granted. But, hand on ... each time, we paid at least $200 dollars, waited more than 4 hours... $20 doesn't even cover the damage remedied by the vet for the first painful work. Thank you but no thank you for the future.

Yelp
Last Saturday, Bailey had his grooming appointment. Home Doggy did another excellent job however a few days later, Bailey started coughing, hacking and started sounding like a goose honk. After a Vet Appointment it was determined to be kennel cough. Bailey is a house dog, does not like other dogs and only goes to the bathroom on a wee-wee pad. I called Home Doggy on Thursday, spoke to Martha to make them aware that my dog got kennel cough and to be alert. Martha instantly defended Home Doggy and insinuated that it would have been impossible for Bailey to get kennel cough with them and I probably was to blame. (Note: I have had Bailey for 10 years and this is the first time he got kennel cough). All I wanted to do was make them aware of the siltation so they can possibly address it - and Martha said and did everything to agitate the customer (me). Tactics like putting me on hold and not responding to call backs. Then when trying to escalate to the owner, Rodrigo - I was told that he would call me back. That was 2 days ago. I called back again today and asked the staff to have Rodrigo contact me - that was 3 hours ago. It is obvious that this team isn't for me any longer - when a small business does nothing to address the situation (just a simple returned call) it is obvious they don't care that they lose that 1 repeat customer. They do not understand how valuable it is to keep the repeat customer especially when I carry Bailey and everyone asks who did his grooming. He is a free advertisement for Home Doggy. Not anymore. The owner and staff do not present the level of customer service that I expect - that every repeat customer should expect. Choosing to avoid making a phone call or apologizing for someone else's behavior appears to be beneath Rodrigo's duties as the owner and shows no compassion for the situation.

Yelp
I took my dog here yesterday for her first grooming appointment with them and was frankly very happy with the service we received. The person at the front desk was kind, thoughtful, and helpful, and my dog was happy and clean when I came to get her. However, and I may be on my high horse here, I received an email today from them advertising a "puppy for sale." I feel strongly about adopting not shopping and honestly found it to be simply a strange solicitation. I patronized this business for dog grooming, not dog buying. I will be looking elsewhere for my dog's grooming needs, which is a shame.

Michael C.

Yelp
I left my dog there for a half day of daycare. When I brought her home, she had noticeable bite marks and missing fur. I called and was told there was an aggressive dog with long nails there. I was not given an apology, nor was I told she was attacked when I picked her up. Do not leave your dog here unless you want to risk it getting attacked because no one is watching the dogs.
google avatar

Andrea F.

Yelp
The owner is patronizing and rude. Makes you feel bad for bringing your long haired pooch all the time. If he spoke to his clients in a more positive and non-judgmental way, we'd go back. Not for us.

Emily S.

Yelp
I brought my dog here to get groomed twice. The first time was fine, the second time was inexcusable. They barely cut his hair at all but for some reason decided to shave his butt so close to the skin that they cut his... butt hole (not quite sure how to put it gently) - so badly that it's been inflamed and irritated for days. My dog is in pain. I obviously don't ever want them to groom my dog again since they hurt him, so I called and asked for a refund (rightfully). I didn't hear back so I called again and didn't hear back. I called a 3rd time and they finally called me back and left a message. They offered me a free fix up (which they do anyways - and it's not like they can glue the hair back on his butt?) or 20% off my next service- like I said, I would never go back to them so this is obviously not helpful. The combination of the way they treated my dog and myself as a customer is inexcusable and I would advise against going here at all costs.

Yelp
The groomer was lovely with my goldendoodle, Ava and immediately put me at ease. She hadn't had a proper haircut since pre-Covid and my feeble attempts at trimming her hair made the situation even more dire. Thankfully the groomer was able to work some magic around my uneven chopping and mats. Ava came out looking super clean and happy. Not ashamed to take Ava around the block anymore and got a few compliments on her new 'do to boot! Front desk was super friendly and loved how invested the owner was at ensuring I was satisfied with the cut and experience. Will definitely be back!

Thomas W.

Yelp
Terrible experience. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I had one request which was to not touch the hair on my dogs face. Instead they cut it extremely short. They could not listen to the one instruction I gave them. When I called them to discuss the situation, all they offered was a $10 refund and said that if the roles were reversed and I were the business owner, I would only offer a $10 refund. I could not believe what I was hearing, the correct thing to do is to keep your customers happy. If this is how you treat your customers you will not last. I paid for my dogs nails to be trimmed as well and they did not trim them at all. I will go out of my way to share my terrible experience with all other dog owners in Park Slope and Brooklyn. What a complete joke of an owner and establishment.

Jim B.

Yelp
Would love to give fewer than 1 star. Took our dog here and she came back traumatized. It's pretty clear the groomer was going for speed rather than care -- he shaved everything. The dog can't even sit down. And when we tried to discuss it with Rodrigo, he was as defensive as I have ever seen a business-owner. Dude -- this is the ultimate customer service biz... try a different tack! We won't be going back and you shouldn't go for a first time. Poor sweet dogs...

Yelp
My Westie, Gracie, is over 16 years old and Rod Leite has groomed her for most of her life. Often after Gracie has had a haircut, people stop me on the street to compliment her and ask who her groomer is. Over the years I have referred countless people to Rod, and many of them have reported back to me how very pleased they are with his work. But the best recommendation comes from my dog herself--every time she sees Rod, she literally jumps for joy and showers him with kisses.

Yelp
Benji is my 2nd schnauzer, the 1st was a mini schnauzer that I raised from 8 day to 15yrs. He was from a family of award winning show dogs. Although we never showed him we went to an old German couple in ridgewood, who specialized in breeding and grooming mini schnauzers. Benji who is a 6yr old rescued mini schnauzer (found under a bench on bday and 206th st as a yrs old pup). He was very high strung and a mess grooming wise. No one could groom him properly until I was introduced to Rodrigo. Not only does he know how to stylishly groom him (a good schnauzer cut is hard to find), my pooch is relaxed when he is finished with him. Rodrigo is like a dog whisperer. He gets benji. His gentleness and his artistic grooming ability is a rare find!!!

Yelp
Not a place for good furr parents, avoid this shop at all cost, grooming for small dog takes the whole day omg, places in a small cramp cage at the basement, hot and dirty place

Yelp
We switched to in home grooming after a traumatic experience at this place.

Yelp
Outstanding experience, for me and my pup! I am usually nervous about how my Shih Tzu will look and feel after getting the works but I felt comfortable after running into the groomer, while she was walking her own Shih Tzu and Shih Poo. She has been a groomer for 13 years and explained that the owner, who is a Master Groomer, expects high quality and care of each dog or cat they groom and will take action if any staff member doesn't deliver the absolute best experience for them. So, each time I go my 13 year old baby looks gorgeous and has no anxiety. He never even wants to stop playing. I will be a regular for grooming and day care. I will use them for boarding too. Overall the best groomers in Brooklyn.

Yelp
DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! You will get a double whammy of bad service and bad customer care. We had a terrible experience at HomeDoggy. We took our puppy to get a trim around her eyes. Instead, HomeDoggy drastically cut back all the hair on her face and a bunch on the top of the head. She now looks completely bizarre and awful. I made two calls to complain. In my first call, we were blamed for not communicating better what we wanted. Martha couldn't even be bothered to get my name. I had to insist she take down my name for the manager. Then, the manager Rodrigo calls me back and tells me I misunderstood Martha. When I explained why I was unhappy with this cut, he said, "Well, we now know better what you would want for the next time." That's it. I asked for a partial refund, and would have been happy with even $10 back. He told me that there was no way he was going to do that. I asked why I should give him more business if this is how uninterested he was in making me feel better about my puppy looking like a rat. He seemed to think it was logical that I would come back.

Yelp
The 1st time I went here, 2 months ago they charged me $16 for a cat trim, which is about average. Today, they charged me $27! Almost double. I asked them why! What's the difference from then until now-same cat! They said they're using a different groomer. That's ridiculous. I'm never going back to this place!

Yelp
My pup who is very pick with groomers enjoys going here. They give great cuts, can be pricey but it's park slope after all. Staff is friendly and communicates very well

Yelp
We took our dog for his second grooming appointment at HomeDoggy today. They groomed his hair perfectly both times and you can tell he feels great after his grooming sessions (not to mention, he gets a lot of compliments!). This is also the only grooming place that we can walk by and he doesn't try to run across the street the way he does when walking by other groomers or the vet. The team at HomeDoggy is very friendly and knowledgeable, clearly loves animals, listens to their customers, and does great work! I've recommended them to all of my friends that have dogs. So glad to have them in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Homedoggy is our preferred place for grooming and daycare. We went there based on a recommendation from a friend (whose dog can be a little skittish and aloof with other dogs) who was really happy with the experience. I'm so glad I went! We used to go to Dog Wash N Go, so having a place that offers both daycare and haircuts/washes is a huge pawsitive. :)

Yelp
I think I'm done with Home Doggy. I don't know how it came to $157 plus tip. My dog is a small Shih Tzu. The basic price they quote you on the phone is $85. I had her teeth brushed ($10) and they did a little dematting which I was told was $25. So how does that come to $157? I asked when I paid and they said it was because of the dematting charge. Which does not make sense because it simple does not add up. Literally. It's easy enough to Find another place.

Yelp
Rodrigo is a natural at his job. We have an anxiety-prone pom and Rodrigo put him at ease immediately. He also knew how to cut his coat - which isn't the case for every groomer! I totally trust his work and will definitely be a regular at HomeDoggy.

Yelp
We love Rodrigo and HomeDoggy. I met Rodrigo in the park and then hired him as a dog walker to help leash train my husky puppy. I was so excited when he decided to expand his services. Rodrigo knows how to channel my husky puppy's energy better than anyone I've ever met. He introduced us to the best dog trainer, he treats Klaus like the athlete he is and has boarded him without issue. Best of all, klaus loves Rodrigo and I always get a tired, happy and most importantly, well behaved, puppy back!! HomeDoggy is THE BEST.

Yelp
HomeDoggy was wonderful with my 2 pups! Haircuts came out even and exactly as we discussed. Their fur looked extra clean and white which makes me very very happy :) I was also happy with all of the staff because they were honest (and gave an accurate time frame for the appointments). The person at the front desk and Rodrigo made me feel like my babies were in good hands. I've been to many salons where they tell you an hour but it ends up taking 5 or they never call you to let you know your fur baby will be ready soon. Rodrigo and his staff made sure my 2 girls were taken right away, given a thorough grooming, and called me to give a heads up that they would be done soon. Another plus of HomeDoggy is that they have doggy daycare!

Yelp
I would rate this experience 0 if I could. The owner of the establishment is a condescending, rude, and obnoxious person who I will no longer support. I asked the receptionist to please let me know if my dog would need to be dematted since the last time I went I was charged an additional fee with no notice. The receptionist had texted me to let me know the dematting fee would be more than double the cost of last time. I wrote back and asked why the price had more than double and how they were determining the price of dematting. Rather than giving me a concrete answer to a valid question, the owner of the establishment called me and was not only rude and obnoxious, but would not even let me speak. He could not give me a reason of the fee aside from "I am the professional and I know the cost," he could not explain how the fee had more than doubled. Instead he spoke to me with a condescending and rude tone telling me I had unreasonable expectations (in regards to paying the same price as last time), he resented my dog, would prefer to shave the dog (so that he didn't need to work), and that I didn't care for my dog properly. As a woman and nurturing dog owner this was incredibly offense language. I had to ask the owner if he could please let me speak and even then he wouldn't let me say a word and continued to berate me on the phone, interrupt me, and offend me. I am a paying customer who did not say no I won't pay your fee, I was simply asking how the fee went up so much. I was completely shocked and how the owner of a business can not only treat a paying customer, but a woman so horribly. In addition to today's experience I had scheduled an appointment to get my dog groomed (who is less than 12 lbs) and was asked to reschedule 3 times at the last minute. This establishment is disorganized and has no care for their clients or dogs - they just want to make $ and will continue to make up prices.

Yelp
Rodrigo was super responsive, informative, and friendly. Great website too! From our brief conversation on the phone he has a wealth of experience with animals. Unfortunately, we are outside the drop off/pick up radius but will most likely visit the facility and consider our own drop off.

Yelp
Rodrigo has been grooming my Old English Sheepdog and he's never looked better. He comes back looking like a show dog and is happy and well cared for while there. He's easy to work with and listens to concerns about my dog. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This place is great. They do an excellent job with my pups haircut And they do a great job at dematting him worth the cost

Yelp
This is the BEST dog grooming buianess. Me and my dog Brooklyn have been here 3 times so far and each time they have done a spectacular job! They give us just what we are looking for. Thank you all so much for your professionalism and great atmosphere.

Yelp
First., the nail trim was great and quite reasonable. Second, the receptionist on the phone told me to bring dog's vaccination papers which she never asked for. Second, I asked if she could give the dog some water she said sure. When I asked if he had water when I picked him up she had forgotten. The place was empty and so were her skills. Although she was sweet, young and inexperienced. They charge $50 for a dog bath so I went home and put my dog in the tub. After reading many reviews it seems the owner is not so nice and leaving my dog for the day won't be an option.
