I went to Homegrown yesterday and, as always, had a great experience. The staff were so kind, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Their food is always fresh and delicious — you can really taste the quality in every bite. I especially love their matcha chicken salad. It's one of my favorite spots for a healthy and tasty breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend! 🌿🥪✨

Google
I recently started working on the island and I am really glad I found this place☺️ It is so difficult to find healthy options in a pinch so this will definitely be my new go-to lunch spot! I do understand some of the reviews about the disconnect between the customers and the employees because you order behind the screen and they are not very involved. I went twice this week and I was still greeted so I have no complaints other than I wish there was more steak on my salad lol. Excited to keep coming back for my work lunch! 🥗🫶🏻

Google
My first time here. Food was tasty although it wasn’t what I’d ordered. Service on the other hand. Wow. Not a soul in the restaurant and it took over 20 mins for two bowls and 2 drip coffees. We heard them say they “didn’t see the order”. Really? The woman with the heart glasses really doesn’t need to be customer facing. Either having a bad day or hates her job. No smile. No “thank you”. She clearly saw the order (and that we were standing in front of her) but didn’t tell anyone else. Just a really bad first experience. I’ll give them another try but someone needs to really check on what goes on here.

Google
I love Homegrown, this location is my least favorite, but still good. I had veggie chili and the steak and bleu (as always). Chips and a Jones Soda on the side. Service was great, the guy had patience and a smile. Atmosphere was basic Homegrown and clean.

Google
You order with kiosk. They call your name to get the food in a paper bag. Zero service. Yet, tip options begin at 18%. Food was not delicious but it might be healthy? But it tastes so bad I could not finish even half. Portions are small also. Overall, not a positive experience. Two star is very appropriate.

Google
Thank you Blake for all your help and good energy. You represent this company very well and deserve to be taken care of. The sandwiches are wonderful and you genuinely care about the people. Your very informative as well and know everything about this business

Google
Sure smells good when entering the sandwich shop! Ordered the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich...delishious. My 9 year old loved it too. Not a long wait. Will come back when in the area again.

Google
I ordered the Sonoran Grass Fed Steak bowl and there was no steak!! This is ridiculous given that it costs $19 after tax ($5 more than the same bowl without steak)! I want a refund but no one picks up the phone. Word of caution to customers: PLEASE CHECK YOUR MEAL BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE. You can see from other reviews that this store messes up a lot.

Yelp
Homegrown has good-quality ingredients, but the sandwiches are way overpriced for what you get. The bread was fresh, the veggies were crisp, and the meat was decent, but nothing about it stood out as worth the high price tag. The flavors were good but not amazing, and for the cost, I was expecting something more satisfying. The service was friendly, and the space was nice, but I can't justify spending this much on a sandwich when there are better options around

Yelp
How careless can a restaurant be with their sanitation policies? Both hair and plastic inside an overcharged bowl is a double whammy I did not expect. Will not be returning back. Homegrown, do better before you catch a lawsuit.

Matt C.

Yelp
Love their sandwiches, especially the turkey, bacon, and avocado. This location really struggles. The atmosphere is often chaotic with long waits, confused employees, and a chaotic environment. Today, there was a long wait for orders as one employee was working as quickly as possible, as other employees and a manager seemed unsure what to do. These days, I prefer Valhalla - a solid sandwich without the chaos.

Yelp
I've come here a handful of times, and while I haven't had the best experience, it definitely hasn't been as bad as others have reported. I do tend to forget it's even here, tbh. I've never had my order messed up like the other reviews, but the wait time for your food is always long -- at least 30 minutes every time I've ordered, which isn't ideal for lunch when you're in a rush. That being said, I think the food is really good, so if I'm not in a hurry, I'll definitely return.

Yelp
We enjoyed Avocado Macha Bowl and the pastrami sandwich. Both were delicious and perfect for sharing half of each with a friend. Thank you!

Yelp
Homegrown is my go to when I am craving salads. The matcha avocado salad is my go to. They use a green goddess dressing that is amazing and the chicken breast is prepared to perfection (super moist, never dry). I am super picky about salads so im glad to have found a place that does it right!

Yelp
I thought this place would be just ok and I was pleasantly surprised. Now I can see why some have lower reviews. I actually had 4 meals here. I had the turkey, bacon, avocado, with tomato soup with feta cheese which I thought was delicious. I had the matcha chicken avocado which was average. I wouldn't order a salad again from here as I don't feel it's worthy. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was seriously good! Last I had the chicken cherry pecan which was good but I liked the turkey bacon avocado better. The breakfast sandwich was a 10. Each sandwich was put together well, loved the bread, the soup was hot and was tasty. I gave a 5 star because two of my meals were way over, one was good and the salad was good but a slight miss as there wasn't much there. Sandwich is the way to go here IMHO.

Yelp
Homegrown is my go to when I have to select lunch options for others. Homegrown's menu is filled with nutritious variety, and classic lunch favorites that mostly everyone appreciates. I especially love how intentional Homegrown is about using local farm fresh ingredients. I was happy to learn about the catering options, and look forward to utilizing that service. This location gets really busy around lunch, be mindful prior to arrival. Wait, or no wait Homegrown is always great option, I highly recommend!

Yelp
Popular, fresh, clean. This place was delicious and price matched the quality for me! I was very impressed with the freshness and flavor of the sandwiches we ordered. If you're in the area and looking for a quick bite, you should definitely check out Homegrown.

Yelp
Good fresh food. I went on a Sunday afternoon when it was busy but I got my food quickly. I appreciate that they offer half size sandwiches. I like the self order function. Nice staff. Compost bin. Chill music and vibe. Window seat. Great spot.
google avatar

Stephanie K.

Yelp
The Super fresh and super good. You will not be disappointed. This is my go to every time I come in town and taste is always the same. We definitely need one back in Ohio. My go to is the grass fed steak & blue combo and it's the perfect match of ingredients. The caramelized onions with the aioli and blue cheese truly makes this sandwich. And not to mention the ingredients are locally sourced.

Yelp
I've only had the breakfast sandwich here so far, but it is hands down one of the best in the city. Great flavor and execution. The ciabatta roll is incredibly fresh and soft. It always hits the spot, it's really nice that they don't skimp on eggs either. I'm so tired of the restaurants in Seattle that charge $15+ for a one-egg sandwich. It's nuts, so I'm very glad I found this spot. I'm looking forward to trying their sunrise bowl.

Tre H.

Yelp
The sandwiches at Homegrown are definitely top 3 east of Seattle. Only Deru in Kirkland compares. I've had pretty much every sandwich and all use great bread, sauce, and ingredients.
google avatar

Kiterie A.

Yelp
Absolutely love the sandwiches and breakfast bowls. I was hesitant to try it when they came into South Center Mall, but they are near a place I started working. I hesitated because I haven't typically enjoyed quinoa and seems like they are in all their bowls and salads, but actually worked really well in their breakfast bowls. I also keep getting the hot pastrami because it's just freaking delicious.

Yelp
COVID TIMES: no indoor dining at this time (November 2021) you can order online or DoorDash or in person. They have a self-service system to place your order, the team will help you to navigate the new system in case you don't know how to use it in a friendly way. They have the same menu alternatives as other homegrown locations: breakfast sandwiches and bowls. My favorite is the avo, egg and cheese with extra bacon -drooling here... You can get whole Sandwich or just half of it. For those for of you who have never been in one of their locations, they are sustainable sourced, super Greene, etc etc. They also have organic espressos and coffee but I honestly prefer coffee from their neighbors (L'experience) but if you're in a hurry Homegrown coffee is pretty decent.
google avatar

Vince D.

Yelp
Wouldn't go back. Bacon and egg breakfast sandwich wet with grease for no reason. Bacon undercooked. Sauce wasn't spread throughout sandwich. The bread was decent but otherwise underwhelming. Staff were pleasant.

Jerry C.

Yelp
We got lunch from Homegrown on Father's Day. It was very busy and the restaurant was packed. We picked up a few sandwiches and a Sunrise bowl. The sandwiches appeared normal without any issue. The Sunrise bowl was unfortunately smaller than any bowls we've ever purchased from Homegrown. Either the portion of their bowl is now 1/2 of what it used to be or that was partially eaten. It was an unpleasant experience. I hope they will find their way back to serving quality food as they had in the past.
google avatar

Yelp
Always consistent and great food. I like that you can order on a tablet at your own pace and select all of the options that you want or don't want. This place always leaves me very full but in a good way since it tastes healthy which is why I'd choose a place like this to begin with. I always choose the Matcha Chicken Avocado and it's great every time. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good healthy option. They also have indoor seating and all utensils are compostable.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Bacon was raw in both the sandwiches and the bowls. Inedible raw. Yuck. Kids that work there are super slow and zombie like. Unfortunate.

Yelp
Edit: We ordered Egg, Avocado & Cheese sandwich which had the perfect egg not very hard and not very soft and little running, just the way I like it. It has also comes with Habanero sauce which makes it little Spicy! Freshlicious! That's Fresh & Delicious We ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich with the usual toppings and hot sauce. It was a delicious sandwich, the pesto and chicken was fresh and amazing! We also ordered the breakfast sandwich - Egg , Bacon & Cheese sandwich. I am not a Bacon fan but the sandwich had the right crispy Bacon. The egg was special too! Unlike the other Homegrown locations in Redmond & Kirkland, this has plenty of parking which is an added advantage! If you do an online order and have included ice cream. Make sure to ask for it as it will NOT be packed along with the online order and will be in the refrigerator

Yelp
COVID-19 take out: We pre-ordered our lunch online the night before and it was ready when it said it would be the next day! The menu wasn't that extensive, but if you like sandwiches or salads, you shpuld be able to find something. We got the Smoked Pastrami Sandwich, Spicy Braised Tofu Bowl, and the Sonoran Bowl with steak. All the portion sizes were pretty large and the food was very flavorful! I could've been full after half of the sandwich and would definitely recommend it!

M H.

Yelp
Great selection. Yummy good. I like that I can take my time on ordering through the self service menu. Get there early it can get crowded. Suggest dropping by the bookstore next door. Very casual and good for groups.

Yelp
Great sandwiches when they're made fresh (as opposed to catered events). We consistently order the TBA and steak sandwiches which rarely disappoint. Not long ago, we also tried a couple of bowls to expand our repertoire. Not particularly hefty in terms of content but the prices were also not crazy. Sandwiches have now crossed the $15/$16 mark which is really getting up there IMO. We still enjoy a meal or two here whenever we happen to be on the island but not something we can afford on a regular basis (any longer) unfortunately. With tax and tip, our total for four people came to nearly $90 which only included two drinks and no sides (chips, salad, etc.). Workers at this location also don't seem too committed to quality or customer service. We still recommend this place to others but warn them of the steep prices.

Al L.

Yelp
The pros: yummy food, good beverage & food options, vegetarian friendly, and nice staff The cons: bad ventilation! It seemed smoky in there and I could feel my allergies acting up. My friend needed her asthma inhaler. I'm concerned about the staff's exposure to particulates. I recommend getting your food to go, or sitting outside or near the door. The bathroom also wasn't very clean which never feels like a good sign. Everything was packed as take out even if you are eating there. That seems wasteful. Neutral: You place your order by making your selections on a screen and pay by tapping your credit card or app. Your name is called when your food is ready and you pick it up at the counter.
google avatar

Vera M.

Yelp
The food and the concept are decent but I have a major issue with their consistency. I've ordered from Homegrown multiple times and the majority of the times my order arrives with missing items. This time I specifically indicated for my salad to not include bacon or chicken, but instead include tofu and avocado. I used all the right prompts to make my substitutions and paid extra for the ingredients. Yet my salad did not include the ingredients I paid extra for, and rather included the ingredients i have indicated to remove as I strictly do not eat bacon. Needless to say I paid for a meal I was not able to eat and again I did not have time during my lunch break to purchase a replacement meal.

Yelp
Had their food before (to go) but this time we dined in. They have multiple locations. This one had a high ceiling with tables for two but you can move them together for bigger groups. Casual place. You place your order at the counter, find a table, and wait for your name to be called. Menu is simple but have enough variety. They offer 2 kinds of soup -- tomato bisque (yum!) and a seasonal one (Cauliflower when we visited). This location seems to get busy during lunch. We arrived just before the heavy lunch crowd and was able to find a table right away. The good thing was people dined and dashed so the wait wasn't long. We had the combo -- half a sandwich and cup of soup (tomato bisque). The tomato bisque hit the spot on a cold day! She had Turkey, Bacon, Avocado - I didn't get to taste it but by the way it was devoured, I'm guessing it was good. She said it went well with her hot chocolate. Smoked Pastrami but I switched the Pastrami with steak. It was yummy! The bread was nicely toasted and the caramelized onions were amazing! The steak was ample. They didn't skimp on it. I didn't taste the white cheddar but all in all it was delicious. I had a cappuccino, which was ok. This is a pricey place for what we had -- half a sandwich, cup of soup, and a hot drink. However they pride themselves in partnering with local farms and using organic ingredients.

Yelp
Chad from Homegrown reached out to us afterwards. He apologized to us and even offered complimentary lunches to make it up. It showed the company cares about their customers. The sandwich I had was so much better than the original salad. Thanks again for taking care of us!

Yelp
So this is my partner's favorite sandwich place on the island, but ... I can't stand it. Every single time I go to get food here, it's either closed, or out of the mixed greens when I want a salad, or out of chicken, or something else. There's always a supply chain or staffing issue. The issue isn't with the servers (they're really nice) or the quality of the food (when they have it.) It's 100% supply chain and staffing. I won't eat here any more - I've had it. But the most recent time he was here, this week, at 1:30 pm the staff started flicking the lights on and off to get people to leave by 2pm (they close at 2, not 3pm as Yelp says.) He told me this humorously, but all I could think was "that's really, really not professional." Homegrown: please fix this. You have a great product, but the issues make it very difficult to actually enjoy your food.

Yelp
Freaking love Homegrown so much. Everything is always super good and fresh. Grabbed a half avocado, egg and cheese sammie and it was just perfect. Bread was soft, everything still piping hot and just mega delicious. Partner got the breakfast bowl and loved it. Everything we have ever gotten at this location is solid. Homegrown can never do any wrong. I think this location has some of the best customer service, despite being super busy.
google avatar

Yelp
Have been a regular customer for years and chicken pesto tastes great. But recently at this branch they have reduced the amount of protein so much that you barely find chicken pieces in a "chicken sandwich"(picture attached). 3 times in a row this happened to me. I order pick up or delivery so did not get a chance to provide feedback at the restaurant. I ignored it the first 2 times as it could be one-offs but doesn't look like it. My friends experienced this too. I used to order from here often with COVID WFH situation as they advertise about sustainably sourced meat but now that they are doing this consistently, I'm not going to order from here.
google avatar

Yelp
Turkey-Bacon- Avocado sandwich- excellent taste. At $14.95 a but pricey. Coffee good. Very green friendly.
google avatar

emily l.

Yelp
food tasted ok but a very small portion for almost $20. i ordered the cobb and asked for utensils on the order. went to a park to go eat it and realized that i didn't get utensils. had to go back. also the greens were yellowed.

Anita T.

Yelp
Homegrown has really gone down hill in the last few years. I used to love this chain and go often. Their point of service being a screen instead of a person isnt accessible and inclusive- the elderly couple ordering beside me was struggling and its not inclusive for visually impaired. My roast beef sandwich was mostly gristle, low quality and overall not much meat at all. My coffee was barely warm and when I asked them to reheat it, it came back scalding hot. Really unfortunate this once delicious chain has taken a turn for the worst.
google avatar

Ting B.

Yelp
Really good sandwiches wish I took some photos of the sandwiches but we were too hungry, so we dig right in. I really like the mash chicken peas sandwiches and the chicken pesto. Smoked pastrami was good but it was a bit much for our taste. I will definitely come back for such a healthy and tasty sandwiches

Hannah L.

Yelp
Ordered the Sonoran Steak Salad but instead received a pickled onion salad sans Steak. Unsure why but salad came without protein & with entirely tooo much pickled red onion. Red onion overpowered every bite & the vinegar smell/taste just took over . There was probably 3+ scoops of onions in there. Salad came without steak as well so basically just sad greens and pickled onion. Unable to eat more than a few bites of the bowl due to the sheer amount of pickled red onions. Picked out a fraction of the total onions in there and that is more than enough for 1 salad. I really liked this Homegrown as a convenient lunch spot but this has totally turned me away for a bit. Disappointed to have paid $18 for inedible bowl.

Yelp
I was just in there and you guys were not busy AT ALL!!! The lid was not on on soup in my to-go order, and the whole bag fell apart and the sandwiches were ruined. Not to mention my clothes and my car! I wouldn't have left this review if I could've directly called your local restaurant!! This wasn't a cheap order either! Also, I think it's nonsense that customers can't call you when you mess up an order.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Love their sandwiches but COVID seems to have scrambled the staff's brains into not understanding how to make sandwiches. The service is really questionable and painful to watch as they're glacially slow putting your order together. Definitely give them a try and enjoy their delicious sandwiches but don't be in a rush or try to use their bizarre cashier-less order system.
google avatar

Mackenzie V.

Yelp
Homegrown is one of my favorites for a quick lunch or ordering meals for a meeting at the office! The Mercer Island location offers a menu with some great variety of options.Finding parking and seating at the restaurant can be tough during lunch hours, but their service is still pretty quick. I have gone in there a few times to order about 20 sandwiches and bowls, and it has never been an issue. My favorite sandwiches are the broccoli melt and smashed chickpea. Both are very flavorful which I find isn't typical for assembly-line made vegetarian sandwiches.
google avatar

Gavin M.

Yelp
Do you want a killer sandwich? It's greasy and a 1000 plus calories and soooooo good! It's the Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on the breakfast menu. The flavors are simply devine. Ok, if you don't want to kill yourself, there are plenty of other healthier options such as the smashed chickpea sandwich. Either way, it's all tasty. Oh yeah, they have an espresso machine; as well as a plethora of flavored waters. Great place! Enjoy Let me know what you think.

Yelp
Update: Appreciate that the manager took the time to reach out and ask for feedback. Came back the following week around the same time to a different crew. I had a great experience and the guy working was super friendly, quick, and made a point to ask how my day was going. The food is still awesome, the location is great, store is clean. But I love how there has been an immediate shift in customer service for the better! Original review: I love Homegrown, but this location isn't one of my favorites. I lived on the Island for many years and was thrilled when they finally opened one near my home. The location is super convenient, spacious, outdoor seating. But the service has never been anything out of this world. Lots of younger kids working here, especially in the summer. So the service isn't very consistent. I love their menu. Especially their two fried egg bowl for brekkie! Prices are decent. $10-14 and the portions are good but not overwhelming. Good quality products utilized, especially love having perfectly ripe avocados with my eggs! Really only downfall is the service, which I hope eventually gets sorted.

Liz W.

Yelp
This place is usually pretty good. I ordered food for my office today (10 people) and was super disappointed to find that all of the salads were absolutely swimming in dressing. No one could even eat them. Most to-go salads they put the dressing on the side. They could at least do a better job of measuring out the toppings. This is just sloppy and careless.
google avatar

Jason P.

Yelp
The food was ok... a little bland. The service was minimal & we had to go back twice for items they forgot. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, it was ok, but nothing special. The place was clean, but a bit disappointing.
google avatar

Dorothy L.

Yelp
Food is decent but they need to update the h hours at this locations: open Wednesday --Sunday 11-3
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
So expensive for what you get. A normal grown man needs to order 2 whole sandwiches to get full. You're looking at like $40 a person with a drink. If you want to spend steakhouse money for lunch sandwiches then this place is great!
google avatar

Leanna A.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches!!! You order at a device at the counter, or online, and they make your sandwiches, and you pick up. I had the Sweet and Spicy Thai Chili Turkey sandwich (GREAT KICK!) and hubby had the chicken cherry pecan sandwich. Both were perfect and hit the spot.
google avatar

Beverly G.

Yelp
Mike the Manager in training (I can see why) was amazing!! So friendly! My order is custom. He was so nice! Came around the counter and helped me out with my order. 10++++ My matcha salad was so delicious too!! I gave them a nice tip. The food here is always yummy and delicious!! I like going to the Mercer Island location. Everybody was cheery and smiling. It seems like a very good work environment where everyone is working together.

Marin F.

Yelp
took forever dont reccomend unless u order like 30 minutes online. when we asked after waiting about 15 minutes they hadnt even started it update: we had to leave due to a 50 minute lunch break limit but it shouldnt take more 15 mins to put a sandwich together. the store wasnt crowded and workers were mocking us when we asked if it was ready, we didnt even get our order. do not reccomend
google avatar

Richard K.

Yelp
YOU HAVE TO GET THE EGG AVOCADO BREAJFAST SANDWICH!!! Best menu item for brekky (slang for breakfast) That is homegrowns crown jewel brekky menu item
google avatar

Myles M.

Yelp
They should update their hours. I have tried to go three different times and they are always closed.
