"Homegrown Pizza, a casual pizza spot with dips, sandwiches, soups, and salads, is heading to Gentilly this March. The new pizza hub will move into the spot that most recently housed the Munch Factory, which moved to the Garden District in early 2017, bringing with it whole milk mozzarella, red gravy from an old family recipe, and hand tossed pizza." - Stephanie Carter

Know this, I just lost a 500+ word review here by accidentally minimizing the app, so you know I really feel you need to know about this place simply by the fact I didn't say screw it and give up. To start - I loved everything. We started with the cheesy bread. The crust was crisp but light and thin, the bread inside so soft, the cheese and mozzarella were soft and very tasty. After that, we had the Oyster Patty Pie. Let me tell you, this thing was better than even my family's recipe (dont tell them I said that!). The oyster dressing was super flavorful and the pie crust light and flaky. Then we got our two personal pizzas. Both were really good. The first one I ate was the Creole Shrimp pizza. The shrimp were fresh, firm and well seasoned. The creole mustard drizzled over the pizza really brought everything together for a seriously tasty, unique experience. The other pizza we ordered was the Rocket Pizza. I was surprised, but this was my favorite thing I ate. The cheese was super flavorful and fresh, the salami was really good, and it was a seriously awesome pizza. To finish, we had the mini-pecan pie. It was bomb. Ate it with the Choclate Peanutbutter Porter from the Gnarley Barley brewery - a great pairing and a great end to an awesome meal. That reminds me, their beer selection is informed and all local.

Best pizza in Gentilly! I was lucky enough to be at their first ever dinner service! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Locally sourced bread and pizza dough, home made marinara sauce and home pickled peppers were a great touch. We started with the cheesy bread which was a long roll sliced on top with cheese between the slices topped with marinara. There flavors we really great. Next we had a small plate of the Mozza Mac which was crispy on top and gooey, soft, and cheesy on the bottom. Mozzarella lovers should order this dish! Finally we had a custom order pizza with fresh pineapple, pickled peppers, and pepperoni. The crust was amazing and the ingredients were in good proportion. See pictures for more detail. A great showing on their first night open. Can't wait to go back as they really start to get into their groove!

One of my favorite pizza places in NOLA, perfect crust, awesome toppings, and a local Gentilly restaurant. Spicy Mike and the supreme are our go to pizzas, also love the beer and wine selection.

This is a true gem! I ate there with my family today and I’m so glad we went. The service was impeccable and they are practicing social distancing measures without it feeling unwelcoming. They serve only local drinks and beers - they don’t even sell coke - and they play an awesome selection of music. I absolutely love the atmosphere. We had the Chicken Alfredo pizza and you can tell everything is made from fresh ingredients. Maybe not the chicken but, I honestly couldn’t tell. It was so good! I will be going back and bringing all of my friends from out of town.

Their restaurant space is attractive and very clean. Service is pretty quick and they have a nice selection of local beers on tap. Their pep salad is delicious (and I don't like salads), pastas are great (but only order if you're eating in - they get overcooked and dried out if you're doing takeout or delivery), pizzas are interesting. My favorite is by far the Spicy Mike, but I also love the Rocket. Their supreme (not sure if that's the right name) really needs an extra minute in their pizza oven as it's always underdone but the flavor is perfect. I hope they can manage to stay open because it's a great asset in the neighborhood.

Go out of your way for the food here! Not only is the food DELICIOUS but it’s family operated and locally owned. I’ve tried The Harold sandwich and the Chicken Strut pizza but I can’t wait to get to the rest of the menu! This time I went to pick up but they have distanced dining inside (also noticed it was exceptionally clean inside). I’ll definitely be back to have some of their awesome local draft beer selection. If you like to do your part supporting your local community AND have a great meal - well friend. Look no further.

Stopped in for a quick bite and was super impressed! The staff was very friendly, and the owner supports other local businesses. He was very knowledgeable about beer and had a nice variety to choose from. I had the Harold sandwich with hot peppers and the mozza mac, both delicious. I will definitely be back and recommending to friends.
