Homegrown - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Homegrown is a viable choice for a kind-of-healthy lunch when you want a salad that doesn’t taste like farm grass, or a light sandwich with local ingredients. But one of the best things about this place is that you can get their breakfast sandwiches - with things like applewood-smoked bacon, runny eggs, and roasted garlic aioli on fresh bread - at any time. Well, not literally. They close at 8pm. So you can get them for an early dinner. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
Real. Organic. Local. Delicious. You really should stop and eat at Homegrown. This location looks like an indoor co-op with a few other eateries. The menu is diverse - something for carnivores, vegans, and us Organic fam. We ordered two bowls and total cost is around $40 - HAPPY to pay for real, organic food. The bowls are very large and you have to be motivated and hungry to finish it. Hot tip: order online and beat the line. They are ALWAYS busy and while I love waiting in line for food (not really) the online order is very fast.

Google
Delicious food. The tomato bisque soup is terrific and so tasty. The pastrami and the pesto chicken sandwiches are crispy and wonderful. Prices are a little high, though. The quality of the food warrants it, but not somewhere I'd eat too often at. Space is small but comfy.

Google
Homegrown doesn't allow public posts from customers on their social media platforms. This is probably why. They put a lot of effort into their brand and taking crisp images of clean, healthy, beautiful food that they share across platforms. They use all the buzz words about best ingredients, sustainably sourced, etc; however, when you order an egg and avocado sandwich this is what you're going to get. I bit into this sandwich and immediately tasted rot. I open it up and this is what I see. I've got no problem eating avocados with brown spots, but this was beyond spoiled and whoever made my sandwich saw this and didn't care about what they serve people.

Google
Homegrown is my go to spot for sandwiches especially when I was gluten intolerant. They are filling and taste healthy but are also delicious. Their bowls are also great too. I’ve been to the Capital Hill and Mercer Island location and would recommend both. The Za'atar Smashed Chickpea Sandwich is my favorite!

Google
Just stay away. This is my second time here first time was for lunch. My order was incorrect and the eggs are pre cooked. Slow service, no cashier, no help when you stand there. The breakfast sandwiches are not better than A DRIVE THRU so that should tell u all. Price range is about 25.00 for 2 sandwiches but if you are not that hungry you could split 1 bland sandwich between 2.

Google
I had a whole "Ham Egg and Cheese" with inside : nitrate -free ham, Beecher's cheese, caramelized onions, sage & greens for $12.30 + coffee for breakfast. My experience : the sandwich was so good. I love it. I was so hungry. So only I didn't enjoy my cofee cause ,you know, I want a special one but this one not too much.

Google
The food in general is good, very salty and a lot of smoked and there are pickles in the photo noticeably or not noticeable there are bones on the sandwich Not bad

Google
"Sandwich shop" does not really capture what this place is. The bowl I had, with eggs, wilted greens, quinoa, tomatoes, avocado, feta, cilantro and habanero sauce demonstrate much better the farm-to-table funkiness of this excellent eatery. The space feels almost popup, but also earthy. Garlic bread side was an oily delight.

Yelp
I will never not want a sandwich for lunch, and Homegrown certainly provides this using healthy and fresh ingredients. I love being able to order via tablet, as it makes the whole process and service quick. This specific location is tucked between several shops in a friendly neighborhood, and is the perfect stop when you want something quick, light, and yummy.

Yelp
This cute spot in the heart of Seattle is perfect for grabbing a quick, healthy meal. They offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and soups, and you can customize your meal to your liking. The staff is friendly and accommodating. If you're looking for a fast and healthy dining option, this place is a great choice.

Yelp
This was a good place to grab some delicious healthy meals. Vibe was really nice, service was good. Definitely worth the value for the quality of food.

Yelp
Was happy to find this place as a fairly healthy option of eating out. My daughter had been there before on a previous visit to Seattle. You will have to order your meal on an ipad which was fine with me, but I'm not sure that it would be for older customers. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Looking for sandwiches, found this place on a whim thanks to Yelp. Not a whole lot to choose from on the menu and for sure a little pricey but definitely worth it as they sandwiches were delicious. They were a good size and the ingredients were quality. Nice little place with comfortable seating. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm not a fan of salads but I was pleasantly surprised when I ate one here. I usually order a sandwich but tried something different. I tore that salad up lol. It was the tofu sriracha salad. You should get you one.
google avatar

Yelp
The breakfast sandwiches are the best I've ever had! Homemade good and homegrown fresh! The ciabatta is perfect with a runny egg, crispy bacon, and gooey cheese! You'll want to get the large!

Yelp
Had the matcha avocado chicken bowl; just what I needed, although I usually like my bowls spicier. It was a short walk from the convention center where I was attending a conference, but it wasn't crowded and there are also great looking sandwiches and drinks on the menu. It's in a small marketplace that looks quite new including other restaurants and a bar. It was bright inside and had a nice warehouse-industrial vibe I like.

Yelp
** yelp was kind enough to inform me my original review had been removed. I support censorship as much as the next person. to show that I've copied and pasted said review with all the nasty bits omitted. enjoy** if you don't feel [redacted) after paying for a $17 salad you got employees behind the counter happy to add to the experience. unbothered with having to interface with customers thanks to a touch screen they still manage to convey their apathy strung out on [redacted] or [redacted] -- anyone's guess -- as they take a break from their conversation just long enough to slide your order across the counter. did they include the steak, or no? portions off? what about the dressing? it's a gamble! reminder these are the hard working [redacted] for whom we fought to raise minimum wage, and for that increase to apply to the service industry. it's really skilled labor when you think about! once had a friend from out of town visit and comment on the service -- how everyone looks bitter for no reason. a sad state to be sure, but c'mon Seattle, we brought this on ourselves

Yelp
Great healthy option right off the highway for when you're looking for a quick bite. My husband and I are both vegetarian and we SO appreciate places with GOOD veggie options (no sad salads, here).

Yelp
Overall the food is great. the capital hill folks always have a bad attitude and are unfriendly. I also wish they would actually cook the bacon. I more often leave with bacon that is way under cooked.

Yelp
This location is in the front of Melrose Market which is in a great location (right by the Starbucks Reserve). They have a variety of sandwiches and salads/bowls - I think there's something for everyone! You order on an ipad in the front and then they call your order when it's ready. I got the broccoli melt 1/2 sandwich (you select combo and then choose just the half sandwich) which was the perfect size! The flavors were good and nothing was too overpowering, and the bread lasted the few hours until I ate the sandwich later in the day (in my airplane headed home). My friend got the steak sandwich which I really liked too. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat this if I had a ton of time to try other restaurants in the area, but Homegrown was the perfect grab and go hearty and healthy sandwich to grab while I was headed back for my flight.

Yelp
Healthy and delicious option! I got the Sunrise Bowl and loved it! It's fresh, locally sourced, healthy, and flavorful. It seemed a bit small, but actually filled me up. Would love to come back and try their sandwiches! This Homegrown is also located in a cute location. There's not too much seating(at least during covid) but I saw a lot of people sit outside along the side of the building. If you're on a time crunch, I recommend ordering online! While waiting for my order I noticed most of them were online orders.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches. My personal favorites are Chicken, Cherry and Pecan, and Chicken Pesto sandwiches. The greens they add are so fresh. I love their Matcha Chicken Salad.

Yelp
This may become a frequent choice for my wife and I after our first visit. We've been looking for a healthy restaurant in Seattle and this place fits the bill. First, ordering occurs through a tablet. Not an issue for me, in fact I enjoy it, but just in case that's not you're thing just a heads up. The space is open to a few businesses, maybe own by similar owners, but the setting isn't your typical restaurant which gives the communal feel. There are a few tables outside the store front, but we preferred sitting inside next to the large opening that looks out to the street. Also, our dog was able to hangout with us while we ate. The food is served in to-go containers, which is convenient in the event you'd prefer not to eat at the location itself. The food was fabulous. It was incredibly fresh and offered plenty of flavor. We both ordered bowls and the tomato soup and we enjoy every bite. My wife's came with tofu that was prepared perfectly and I added a soft-boiled egg to mine which was prepared perfectly. It's easy to mess up eggs, it seems, which leads me to believe places that can prepare their eggs correctly know what they're doing. Y'all, they know what they're doing here. Though you order yourself through a tablet fixed to a counter, the food was dropped off to us at the table we were sitting at, so I'd say the service is on point too. This was an amazing first impression. Great setting, good service, and amazing food. We're excited to go back!

Yelp
Loved the food here. Very fresh. Glad I was able to stop by while I was in town. Definitely worth a visit

Yelp
the self automated checkout sucks the soul out of the dining experience and makes everyone a little sadder. Please, Homegrown, value people over $$$.

Yelp
If you want to eat healthy salad, this is the place for you. It's really nice and good.

Yelp
Cute spot near Cap Hill. The food was great and felt so healthy to eat. I got the chicken pesto and my husband got the broccoli melt. The chicken was super juicy and the tomatoes were perfect, even in December.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying Homegrown. I ordered a Turkey BLT and it was bizarrely flavorless. It comes with a garlic aioli, which was surprisingly tasteless. I also can't taste the cheese on the sandwich, so I think they should consider using a different cheese, and the bacon was all fat. I had to take the entire piece of bacon off my sandwich. Perhaps if they cook the bacon a little longer it would be edible? I will say, the sandwich was packed with Turkey, so if that's your thing you'll get a good amount of protein for your buck. Turkey and bread are the cliffs-notes of this menu item.

Nishika T.

Yelp
Full disclosure, I did not want to try homegrown. I was trying to dine with friends in the area but we were running late to the airport so we were looking for something that could sit us quick and we could eat quick. We ended up choosing homegrown because it looked like a basic quick salad/sandwich place. The food did take longer that we expected but to my surprise wow how tasty food! I ordered the Matcha Chicken avocado bowl. It looks like a salad with some avocado and wow it was so good! I usually assume food like this means a picky eater like me won't like it but now I have a new place I can go to for healthy alternatives!

Yelp
This place rocks. They have locations all over the greater Seattle area. They have fresh ingredients. They always deliver a quality sandwich or salad and the flavors are delicious! **Eat Local. Yelp
Dam these sandwiches are so good! I got the Turkey, Aioli, and Bacon. It was amazingly delicious. Very quaint spot, with an option of really good sandwiches. The customer service is so nice as well.

Yelp
This place is tucked away inside Melrose Market along a cozy street with other places to eat and shop at. We wanted to find a brunch-y place to grab something fresh before starting our day and this place was a solid pick. My sister got a sandwich (the pesto chicken, not pictured) and I got the sunrise bowl (without feta cheese). The portion for my bowl was on the smaller side but for a late breakfast it was just the right amount. If you're used to typical American breakfast size portions, these may be too small in comparison. The food was fresh and the carrot lime habanero sauce was amazing, with a fair amount of heat. The place has indoor and outdoor seating, and on a beautiful, sunny day like today, they had their garage door open so that if you were seated inside, you'd still get some sun. Definitely a cute place to stop in for a healthy bite to eat!

Yelp
LOVE HOMEGROWN!! Definitely my go-to. Service: service was really simple and quick. You order on the kiosk and pay. Food comes out within 15-20 mins and you're ready to go!! Food: I got half a egg avocado cheese sandwich, chicken bowl, and sonoran bowl. So filling and so flavorful. I loved every dish!! Location: located inside the food area with multiple shops that specialize in different things like a butchers shop, little gift store, etc.

Yelp
Good pricing. The bowl was to die for! Sooo good!! Colleague liked the sandwich! Overall, great food and experience

Yelp
I had high hopes about this place, but was not pleased with the sandwich I got. I ordered the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich because the Yelp reviews had great things to say about it. However, the sandwich seemed like it was a day old and not fresh. The bacon looked like it was sitting in the fridge for a little too long and the sandwich was bland. There wasn't much garlic aioli in mine and it was overall just very underwhelming. Also, the sandwich came with a big cookie which was the highlight of my lunch.

Delaney K.

Yelp
The ambiance was good but I ordered the steak bowl and kimchi chicken sandwich, and the steak bowl arrived without steak! I told about what happened and they were nice but they dropped cold steak on top of my bowl. They explained the steak was "supposed to be cold". The sandwich was good, but I was very disappointed about the steak.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
Stopped by thinking that the sandwiches were going to be Panera bread quality but they were surprisingly ... AMAZING?!?! I grabbed the Steak&Blue and my boyfriend got the Chicken Pesto. Both of them were super good. Bread was soft and fresh. The meat tastes like it was made to order rather than pre-cooked and heated up. To top it all off, Melrose Market is a pretty cute place to sit as well. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Trisha M.

Yelp
I was on the lookout for some healthy salads/bowls and Homegrown happened to be the perfect option! The ingredients were fresh and the dressings were delicious. We got the Matcha Chicken Avacado Bowl and the Sonoran Bowl and both were super yummy. The matcha was an interesting addition in the dressing but it worked with the rest of the bowl. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu!
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
Really happy with the sandwiches here. Ended up ordering from here twice. Perfect if you're looking for something classic, simple, and not too heavy. Perfect for what I was looking for!
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
Have been trying to find a place similar to a chain in California we like, this place is pretty comparable. We got salads for take out and it was ready when they said it would be. I like that the containers and utensils are compostable--way better than plastic. The salads themselves were delicious! We got the matcha and the sonoran. My only gripe was that they were relatively small and so weren't very filling (could have used more lettuce, grains etc) We'll have to try some other places and see which does salads the best, but CA definitely does the salad chain restaurants much better
google avatar

Mary N.

Yelp
I kept hearing about how good the sandwiches are.. and I was like.. how good could a sandwich really be? Then I tried the turkey bacon avocado and I kid you not it was probably one of the most amazing sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Not only was the flavor on point but the texture was there!! The bread was toasted to a literal perfection- soft enough to chew on comfortably and crispy (but not excessively that it tears up the roof of my mouth). In retrospect, the side of tomato bisque was completely unnecessary and took away from the sandwich if anything. I really didn't need it. Next time I shall opt for the full and ditch the combo. Wow wow wow I'm extremely impressed.
google avatar

Yelp
I am on no-carb diet so I was so happy to find this place on my layover. They have another location in downtown which is close to my layover hotel, but closed on weekends. This one in Capitol Hill is always open. The store is located inside a building with other stores in it, and the atomasphere is pretty chill and cute. Great place to just relax and have a good meal with a few friends or just by yourself. I had chicken avocado bowl and it was absolutely delicious. The veggie were fresh and the salad dressing was great, although it probably was somewhat fattening. They serve sandwiches and soups other than salads and breakfast all day. They are so many other items I would like to try so I prob will go back to the one in downtown next time.

Howard H.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town. Easy kiosk ordering system. My sandwich was phenomenal. Side salad was comprised of high-end greens although dressing was so-so -- I would have preferred a more oil/vinegar based dressing. Portions were slightly on the smaller end. Overall solid choice.
google avatar

Yelp
When I tell you this was hands down one of the best Breakfasts I had while in Seattle - I mean that with everything in my soul. My sandwich was simple, but delicious and so satisfying! And the winner is knowing that I am eating food that is local, organic, and sustainable. We ordered two whole sandwiches - Bacon, egg and Beecher's on sourdough and the smoked pastrami on gluten free bread. Me and my hunny split them both and the only thing we regretted was not ordering 4 whole sandwiches! LOL, seriously they were that good. The gluten free bread was very tasty and the pastrami - omg was perfect. But I will have to say that the bacon, egg and beecher was my favorite. The egg was cooked to perfection, white cooked all the way through, yolk runny and sensational. The cheese was melted and gooey and the crunchy bacon - just hands down a perfect combination.
google avatar

Vannessa W.

Yelp
Two thumbs up for the Spicy Braised Tofu Bowl! My husband had the Pastrami Sandwich which he also liked very much. There are several tasty options available and a decent amount of seating plus the staff are very friendly and courteous. The one down side is that the line can get pretty long so keep that in mind.

Alina C.

Yelp
Great great great food. I got a breakfast sunrise bowl - it ran about $10 and was perfect. It had a great combination of protein with one of the most delicious fried eggs ever (and I don't even like fried eggs!), lots of greens, quinoa, and feta cheese. The service was really fast and checkout was easy with a tablet you just order on. It's located in a food market-type place that isn't crowded. They have two seating areas - a bar area and a sit down area with lots of tables, so it's good if you're there alone to enjoy a meal and have a view of outside or to study at one of the tables. I also love that they're sustainable and farm to table. They're definitely doing things right, I'd highly recommend!

Yelp
My fiancé and I came here for breakfast right as they opened. The food was incredibly expensive. I got a bowl for around 15 dollars and my fiancé got a sandwich for almost the same amount. The bill was around $30 for quick service breakfast. When we got our food and I opened my bowl the well done eggs I ordered were raw. So I took it back to the front and the woman explained I should get the eggs scrambled so that they'd be well done for sure and I agreed. She brought my food back and the eggs were still uncooked fried eggs but now a more jello consistency (still runny) . I couldn't eat them and had just about lost my appetite. The rest of the bowl was a ton of spinach and not much else. My finance finished his sandwich but was still hungry afterwards. Can't speak on lunch but definitely skip breakfast at this place. Tiny portions for large prices and the food was very mediocre.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
We found Homegrown while visiting with our two kids. We wanted something we could take with us while we explored Discovery Park. It was perfect!!! Super easy to order plus fast and friendly! My son said it was the best grilled cheese he's ever had
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
This place is great for breakfast and lunch. They have a very small menu but the options are delicious. For breakfast I recommend the breakfast sandwich or the one with avocado. I have tried the breakfast bowl but it was okay not the best thing of the menu. For lunch I love the bowls especially the one with steak. The place is a bit pricey and I would not recommend going there if you have a big family but if it's just you for breakfast and lunch then it's great. There is never a wait time and the staff is very friendly.
google avatar

Alejandra V.

Yelp
Homegrown has definitely become one of my go-to spots for lunch ever since I started my full-time job in the Downtown area. Yes, let's get this little fact out of the way -- it IS a bit pricey, but I would say the price is definitely worth it if you're okay splurging a little on your lunchtime salad. That being said, the portions are pretty generous, and I never leave feeling like I need more food. I'm gonna jump on other Yelpers' bandwagon here... the Matcha Chicken Avocado bowl is absolutely delicious. Full of flavor, filling, and just pretty to look at overall. It's so good, that I'm gonna be 100% honest, I haven't even tried any of the other times because I'm so hooked on this bowl! Everything tastes fresh and I don't finish my meal feeling guilty because I know I've just eaten a healthy and tasty lunch. The service at both locations I've visited has always been great! Friendly cashiers, fast service, and impeccably clean overall. I definitely recommend Homegrown for your lunch choice, I am so happy I tried them out!

Yelp
I REALLY liked this place. It was easy enough to find using the Yelp mapped location. I had looked at the menu before we arrived and my friend and I were pretty excited about the options which were fresh and healthy. They have huge salads and fresh sandwiches as well as breakfast bowls - we didn't know what we'd get when we arrived but we knew we were gonna get something good! I chose the quinoa, spinach and sweet potato bowl with avocado, roasted tomatoes and a side of a house hot sauce that was really spicy and really really good. It was $9 but I added chicken for $4. My friend also chose a bowl - she went with the other option: the quinoa, avocado and egg bowl with spinach, roasted tomatoes, feta and hot sauce. She also added too for $4 and it was $9. The gals working inside were very efficient and friendly and they happily answered questions and prepped our yummy food. They have seats along the front left side at a few tables facing the window and then some bar-top seats. Really fresh and healthy - great menu! And it's located in this cute little market with a butcher for fresh meat, a few shops, a coffee shop, a candle shop and another restaurant in the back. This was a great find.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Healthy and delicious! I love their sandwiches and their salads. The staff can be friendlier, but that's not a huge deal lol. I enjoy the location since they have other shops/restaurants in the shared space and it's fun to hang out.
google avatar

Karina G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to homegrown. It's a really neat idea and a very welcoming atmosphere. I loved that while I waited for my food I could wander around and look and all the trinkets and gifts. I guess you could consider this place a mini market. I ordered a chicken salad and it came out looking delicious and arranged beautifully. Sadly, it wasn't very memorable. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just an ordinary chicken salad. However, my travel companions enjoyed their vegan options. On our way out I grabbed a sausage to grill for later from the meat counter. The men behind the counter were very helpful and seemed happy to answer all my questions. This is a great little market to sit, relax and read a book while eating a guilt-free healthy meal.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this salad despite not being a fan of them usually. It was prepared quite swiftly, although the only downside was the absence of a dime-in option. Nonetheless, still a satisfying experience!
google avatar

Mandy A.

Yelp
I've ordered Homegrown for catering for several events. Never disappoints. The food is seriously delicious and the staff are fabulous. Definitely the place to get a sandwich and fixins.
google avatar

Yelp
We decided to try this place for brunch. Their sandwiches are so good and they cook the eggs to perfection here. We had the bacon egg and cheese sandwich, the avocado egg and cheese sandwich, chicken pesto, and steak and blue cheese sandwich. The best sandwiches I have ever had. Their ordering system is also a self ordering system so if you have anxiety or social anxiety it definitely eliminates that anxiety. They are located inside Melrose market and they had other cute shops there too. Definitely check this place out.

Yelp
We were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast before our flight and found this gem when we were by the Starbucks reserve. Gluten free friendly! I don't know how the eggs were cooked, but it was delicious!! It's located inside the market. I think this may be the only place that's open as early as 10 am. There's also public seating inside.
