I have walked by Homegrown many times. It's always seems busy, and I was intrigued by some of the food I saw. However, now having gone there, I don't think I will go again.
The atmosphere is comfortable.
Some employees were kind. My server had what seemed like an annoyed attitude (like she didn't want to be there). She was definitely not friendly, but not rude. Just neutral. She never smiled. She didn't make any extra effort to make my experience enjoyable. But, maybe it was an off day for her. I was a server. I get those days can happen. She did get our food to us and refreshed our drinks timely.
The reason I don't think I'll go back is the food. I paid $17 for 2 eggs, a half handful of pork, a Tbsp of salsa, and some cubed potatoes. That is a crazy price for so little!!!! Even in the boal it came in, it looked miniscule. It guess it tasted fine, but I can make this at home for waaaaaay cheaper. I want to go out for a unique experience that I cannot make at home. My food was not this. It was also a bit bland and boring. No creativity, and I had to add more salt. So, a no-go on the food.
Then, to top it off, one of the employees was mopping up at another table nearby, which is good to clean up a mess, but then they left the mop and bucket 5ft from our table......for most of our meal. So, I am eating overpriced food next to a smelly mop. Not pleasant at all!
So, all in all, it's a comfy place to meet up with a friend or family, but you'll spend way more than is necessary, you might get a server whose mind is elsewhere, and a smelly mop as your companion.
I'll go if someone invites me, but I won't choose Homegrown myself.
