Where To Drink Margs That Give Back in Cincinnati | Eater

"With its warm wood tones, colorful walls, and inviting lighting, Homemaker’s Bar is giving mid-century modern, in the best way possible. Located on the corner of 13th and Walnut in OTR, Homemaker’s is like a choose-your-own-adventure bar — there’s something (different) for everyone. Catch up with a Dillweed Daisy with Astral around from the broken-plate-mosaic-topped bar. Chow down on late night bites like salami roll-ups on the comfy couches. Try your hand at the vintage video arcade. See where the night takes you." - Alex Frost

ambiance was great, drinks were delicious, stop by on the third thurs of the month for an excellent jazz band!

Homemakers was the last stop for the night for me and a group of friends. We wanted a snack, and they came through. Although the pizza bread doesn’t look great in the lighting, it definitely hit the spot and tasted great. I also had a cocktail which I think was probably the Miso Jungle Bird, but I’m not 100% sure I’m remembering correctly. It was delicious though. Homemakers made a great last stop, and I’m sure they’d be great at any time.

Google
First time at Homemakers! I absolutely loved the retro game theme of this bar, very welcoming and spacious. They had board games for you to play with friends and a game projected on a wall, which was so cool. I got the "It Takes Two" and the "Strawberry Thunderbird". Both of these drinks were extremely bitter. They would've been better without the bitters, so ask them not to put any in your drink. Loved the outdoor seating as well, I would definitely go back!

Google
Absolutely LOVE this bar! Awesome atmosphere and the drinks were so good! Food was amazing as well! What a wonderful staff! The owner Julia was there and she was so great to us! Went out of her way to make us feel welcome! 10/10 Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Lovely place, homey, nice variety of drinks. The bartender used her bare hands to touch the ice in the drinks which I didn't appreciate. She handed me another menu with no proof cocktails after I purchased my drinks. I would have liked to see this menu in the beginning! However, this place had a good vibe and a lot of young people were there.

Google
Nice placed, we stopped in for a drink- friendly bar tenders, nice place to gather and visit- lots of bar seating and some private tables. Video games projecting on the wall and an 80s vibe in decor. The ginger beer lacked flavor but the old fashioned was pretty basic and underwhelming.

Google
Cute date night space! Didn’t order the food but the mocktails were wonderful. They have some games but there were missing pieces to some of the them. Overall, would go again!

Google
California Cabin is one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. Loved the atmosphere and the music.

Yelp
Always have a great experience here - the atmosphere is great, the staff so nice and the F&B always so tasty! I really enjoy the Saturday Spritz Hour where there are drink specials 1-4 PM and I LOVE their pickle drinks/pickle juice. I definitely reccomend pickle fans to come here and try it! The bar is so unique with broken plate pieces all scattered about, the utensil chandelier, and all the other nick-knacks scattered about. My first visit here was when they opened years ago and they used the whole space as Homemakers, but even after removing some space to become Fifty Fifty Gin Club, I still feel like there is ample space to mingle and hangout. Overall, a great place to visit in OTR - looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Ambiance - welcoming Service was good! I had a Show Me the Money- it was like a Cosmo - very good Hubs had a Help Me, Help You - Long Island feel to this one. We also tried the pickle dip and the nuts - both very good Would definitely come back!!! 3.5 - 3.75 stars

Yelp
Wow! Totally unexpected with how much I enjoyed myself here. They were open on NYE unlike lots of OTR bars. Drinks are fresh and unique. I will be back.

Yelp
What an great bar in the heart of the OTR! My partner and a few friends stopped by last night and really enjoyed ourselves. The service couldn't have been friendly enough and cocktails were outrageously good! I had the Horchata cocktail and then an espresso cocktail and both were perfect! I would totally recommend the Homemakers bar!

Yelp
Definitely my favorite bar of my trip to Cincinnati by a long shot. The cocktail menu is so creative and delicious! I basically cancelled the rest of my plans for the afternoon so I could sit at the charming bar top with broken porcelain dishes and make my way through several selections on the cocktail menu. Bonus that they have cases of unique liqueurs to buy to go. I bought a beautiful bottle of rose vermouth that I'm enjoying today. What an adorable place! I'd live here if I were local!

Yelp
Great eclectic cocktails. This place's ever changing menu stays amazing and different from what you'll find anywhere else. The ambiance matches the drinks and keeps you looking around and constantly surprised. The staff are true artist and it comes to the fore with the showmanship in their mixology. Parking in OTR is is the same here as everywhere else but once you're parked and inside the world is your oyster. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Don't be basic. It's very easy to turn your nose up at the menu because it will not have the usual drinks we might be used to. And for sure the bartender could make that basic cocktail you no doubt believe you're craving but why not try something new instead. 2) Open your palette. Follow up your first drink with a hot cocktail, intriguing indeed. Come by to set your taste buds on edge.

Yelp
Fun cocktails with friendly service in a laid back but aesthetic atmosphere. They have "Spritzer Hour" from 4-7 Wednesday through Friday with deals on their Spritzer cocktails and outdoor seating that is perfect for summer sipping. They also have light bites on the menu, as well as empanadas from The Empanada's Box and you can always order Taglio's pizza to be delivered there if you get hungry.

Yelp
I tried this place after MANY recommendations last weekend, and it did not disappoint. This place is known for edgy and unique cocktails. The vibe is distinct and I love what they've done with the interiors, the style, the colors and everything. We went in on a rather not so busy time and were well tended to. I got the watermelon punch, tearfully bidding adieu to summer. They have a rotating menu so I won't be surprised if this isn't available in a couple weeks. The drink was interesting and refreshing. It was a good balance of alcohol and non-alcohol (for lack of a better word). My friends (I forget what they got) enjoyed their drinks as well. The price was pretty standard, so can't raise eyebrows there. Why do I not give this 5 stars? I just probably expected a lil more. It's not bad. I'd mostly return. But I wouldn't rave about this place *yet*.

Yelp
A place that I can find a reason to visit often. There's so much going on event wise and the drinks are phenomenal. Woman owned and it shows; the thought put into the decor, organization of the space and food/drink menu is outstanding. Love that the bar top is made of old china and all the art around the establishment add funky vibes. Service is top tier as every bartender is very knowledgeable about the intricate menu; takes their time explaining to ensure you order the right drink for your palette. We were there on a Saturday and it was packed, there was a DJ playing a 70s-80s mix. Don't forget to check out the bar out back if you're looking for that speakeasy feel.

Yelp
Great spot in OTR for drinks and small bites, without the crazy business of Vine St. A little off the beaten path between Vine and Main you can fine Homemakers. It's a cute bar to hang out with a date or friends. All of our drinks were fantastic and I really enjoyed the Old Fashion. We ordered a few bites but loved the cauliflower buffalo dip with cool ranch Doritos...pretty sure we will now forever pair with any buffalo dip! The bartenders were also great giving drink suggestions and mixing up their own drinks for some of our unsure drinkers! Definitely plans to come back!
google avatar

Marina S.

Yelp
Service was quick and great. Drinks had cool themes and even lighter options. It was really loud when we were there-the acoustics of the place made the voices of the groups louder and kind of overwhelming while we sat at the bar. I liked the scene and vibe overall though-we will go back!

Yelp
Very cozy hence the name but also fun retro look. Sat at the bar. It wasn't busy yet as is was early afternoon. The menu is fun and full of so many interesting cocktails. I chose a warm drink and my friend went with something that tasted like spring! Total opposites but both just as delicious. Our bartender was really cool and mentioned that in the evening they have a room that opens up (small but different vibe). They offer food as well, didn't get any but options are available.

Yelp
I didn't know what to expect when I was brought here by my cousins, but I was pleasantly suprised, the interior is amazing, I love the bar top, it has broken pieces of beautiful plates. The windows also have beautiful bottles and plants to look at as well. Our bartender was a dream, very helpful and great at making suggestions. We started with a shot of a tasty Italian liquor (it was a cousins trip) and I also had a delicious gin cocktail, as well as some deviled eggs as a snack. I also had some sips of my cousins drinks, dads liquor cabinet and a Version of a white claw, but it was made with rose and was delicious. Can't wait wait to get back here! It was such a cool place

Yelp
Homemakers is fun; a great atmosphere that has small details like an Ispy book. Drink that are strongly served in fun glasses with some kick. I did not try the food, but I've heard good things. The staff was friendly and checked on us a few times even though we were only in for one drink
google avatar

Lauren F.

Yelp
Really cute bar. It's a nice hangout spot. I was checking this place out because there was a vegan food truck in the parking lot. There are servers for drinks. I didn't see any food options available from them. Check them out for some interesting drinks, but there are some cute spots for pics.

Yelp
Delightful cocktails, excellent presentation. Comfortable space, not too loud, good selection of spirits and well thought out cocktail list.
google avatar

Kara D.

Yelp
With a spirit-free section built into their menu, HomeMakers Bar will be your Sober October sanctuary. You can order a pint of Athletic Brewing's Free Wave Hazy IPA ($6) or a glass of non-alcoholic Sparkling Riesling ($11) from Germany's respected Riesling producer, Leitz. This fruity, bubbly delight could easily become your go-to drink even after Sober October. But the Bartender Choice Spirit-free Cocktail ($6) is what HomeMakers' does best.

Yelp
I love visiting Homemakers Bar whenever I'm back in Cincinnati! Such a cute and fun bar with interesting cocktails, you can't go wrong. The staff is always so friendly as well and willing to make you drinks not on the menu. I've never had a bad experience here and love how dependable this bar is. Definitely recommend a visit if you're looking for good cocktails and great service!

Yelp
The thing that I keep coming back to is the counter - it's smashed china plates filled in with I'm assuming resin, and I absolutely love it. The space is nice, cozy but hip. The cocktails are really good, decent beer selection. I haven't tried the food yet, but my friends got the olives the first time we went in and were pleased. It's a nice space, will probably be back, but there's not much to make it stand out dramatically from the other bars in the area doing the same basic thing.

Yelp
What a unique place that has newly opened in OTR. Homemakers Bar offers something different with styling and cocktails that are an ode to the 50s-70s. The place is brightly painted and definitely has a retro vibe. We came here on a Monday night and our bartender was instantly attentive. She told us about the spritzer happy hour which we took advantage of! For $6 I got the Red, White and You which to me was not overly sweet, yet had the tangy bitterness of grapefruit. My friend got the Blue spritzer which she enjoyed. We had already eaten, so chose not to try any of the small bites, but boy are they creative! I for sure picture going to a friends house in the 50s and having their homemaker mom serving us the bites from a tray! There was so much attention to detail here from the unique bar top made of broken china pieces, to the gorgeous chandelier in one of the seating rooms. Our tabs even came in an old fashion cookbook! Youll feel right at HOME here enjoying a casual cocktail and bite!

Yelp
This was one of the coolest bars in OTR, now it's just a gross pop music every day drunk joe kind of bar. They ripped away the cool 80's vibe and butchered the space so there is a toolbox VIP "(members only(and not in a good way ) conservative high end gin bar!!!!! It's crowded, expensive, and forgettable. Lost it's magic. We won't ever be back.

Yelp
What a great friendly bar in OTR! We stopped in on Saturday afternoon as we were taking in the sights of Cincinnati's oldest neighborhood and were looking for a refreshing cocktail. We sat at the bar and happened to stop in on the tail end of their spritzer specials, my friend Tina and I enjoyed a More Bounce spritzer as the day was getting hot and the concoction sounded delicious, another friend enjoyed the Hires to You, as he loves rum. Our drinks were delicious and hit the spot on a hot day in the city. Very friendly, welcoming service, love the decor and colors in the bar, very refreshing for the dark & dive bar OTR scene. Will be back again, thanks Homemakers Bar for great drinks, service and decor.

Yelp
This place is truly incredible. From the engaging interior design to thoughtful food and drinks it quickly became our go to location when we were in town for a conference. I felt like a local from the moment we arrived- most likely from the incredible owner and her staff. The staff was fantastic, and remembered our orders, even when they were a bit quirky perhaps. I brought a group of clients here and they enjoyed it as well and really had a great experience. I could not more highly recommend.

Yelp
Cute, woman owned bar. Love that! Homemakers is a bar located in downtown Cincy. They offer cocktails with small bites to eat. They also have the cutest, spacious little outdoor patio area. In the patio area they have an outdoor cocktail camper that serves cocktails to the back patio guest. It stops about there for me. I tried one of their cocktails, I don't remember the name (I think the Barbella). However, I wasn't completely impressed. It was ok but nothing special. I also tried their Mac&Cheese and their Salami Roll Ups. Salami is salami. The Mac & Cheese looks better than it taste. It was ok but again nothing special. It was bland and lacked flavor. I think Homemakers has a cute vibe and decor but I wasn't impressed with the cocktail I tried or the light bites I tasted.

Yelp
I was excited when I heard this bar was going to be opening soon, so it was a must go. We went on a Sunday afternoon since I wanted to check it out when it was not super hectic, The place is super cool and different from most places in OTR, the decor is retro and full of colors, it's bright so it's not intimidating, the colors and vibe make you feel welcomed. I really love the counter as some other yelpers mentioned its very unique. Furthermore, the menu does not have plenty of options to choose from but the ones that they have are very unique and the ingredients are out of the ordinary which allows you to be adventurous when making a choice. I ordered the "its Toasted" and my mum had the "There's Life" we agreed that the Its toasted its delicious, the coffee flavor give it a really good kick, on the other hand, the there's life is good but its very very sweet, so if you have a sweet tooth its a perfect choice. I for sure recommended the place and I will go back probably on a Friday/Saturday to have a different experience and try something else from the menu.

Yelp
What a frustrating experience. My partner arrived around 6:30 on a Saturday night and sat ourselves in one of the three funky dining areas. The decor felt very fun and vintage, and we loved the ambiance. The food menu is fairly limited but it's clear that people come for the cocktails; we didn't see any other tables eating between 6:30 and 8pm. My partner went to the bar to order for us; none of the three bartenders greeted him and when he walked up to one person to order, they weren't very friendly. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip as an appetizer, and two grilled cheeses as an entree--one with the potato salad and one with the chickpea salad. Neither of us were excited about those sides so we asked if we could have a small bit of pesto dip as a side instead, even if there was a surcharge. The bartender: "that's not possible." My partner also wondered if he could add anything to his grilled cheese, like bacon or some of the buffalo chicken. The bartender: "that's not possible. All of our sandwiches are premade." Not off to a promising start. Roughly 10 minutes later, our drinks arrived. My partner had a beer and I had the American Muscle, which I hate to admit was delicious. The drink was ice cold and crisp, with a great balance of flavor. We then waited another 25 minutes for our premade food. The server dumped in on our table in a brown bag; we told her we'd ordered "for here, not to go", but apparently that's how all the food is served here. I wondered if it was to avoid doing dishes, or to be more environmentally friendly, but the sides, dip, and disposable cutlery were all wrapped in plastic. The buffalo chicken dip was exactly what we expected it to be, and was really delicious. It's the only thing we'd order again, and we'd order it to go. The grilled cheeses were mushy on the inside, and you couldn't taste the rosemary butter at all. Frankly, you couldn't taste anything except the tomato. Really disappointing, because I'd been craving grilled cheese for days. Throughout this whole experience, no one checked up on our table. When the server brought our food, she didn't ask how our drinks were or if we needed anything else. She didn't come back to check on our food either. My partner works as a server and bartender, so he's usually sympathetic when the restaurant is busy, but there were open tables the whole time we were there, and we didn't see anyone else order food. We couldn't explain why we had to wait so long for our food or why no one checked on us. Overall, Homemaker's Bar was an unpleasant experience for us on what should have been a great date night.

Yelp
Yes. Yeppers. Absolutely. This place is exactly what the name entails-home. The staff are beyond friendly, the bar is spacious and well lit, and the whole vibe is very friendly. Then to the drinks and snacks. Both are inventive and tasty. I got the pesto dip, which is out of this world good and the "It's Toasty." A very strong drink with hints of lavender, ginger, and coconut. They really do a nice job of pairing sweet and savory in the cocktails. They also have a variety of beers and well drinks, including my personal favorite, the pickle back shot. Go. Drink. Be Merry. And make yourself at home.
google avatar

Yelp
Do you want to stay home or go out? Why decide when you can have both at Homemakers. Delightfully friendly and casual atmosphere. The staff at homemakers will take care of all your needs, just like mum, but with the added joy of booze. The living room at homemakers is a great place to hang with friends, play a game, or chill and eat some snacks off a tv tray. The only downside: they won't let you sleep there.
google avatar

Kali K.

Yelp
Homemakers Bar has such an interesting interior design, I only saw it at night but the neon signs lit up the bar and the patrons in an artistic way. It wasn't too long of a wait for a drink, and we were able to sit outside at the tables on the sidewalk. Plenty of beers and cocktails to choose from, and a personalized menu specific to Homemakers! My friend really loved it because they had a Last Word cocktail which I assume is hard to find, and she loved it! I'll also return to try their small bites menu!
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
This bar definitely deserves the five star rating its currently enjoying on Yelp. The ambiance is really fun, kind of a nostalgic call to everyone's parents/grandparents homes without being too "ironic." The space is laid out well so that it can be full of people without getting too loud or feeling like you're on top of each other, since they have a wall splitting a little sitting lounge off from the main bar. They have a separate bar for private parties that we snuck into, it was decorated with serapes (mexican textiles) for a 60s southwestern feel. The bartenders that I interacted with were friendly and conscientious, when I ordered their white (pear or tea?) negroni the bartender confirmed I wanted it since its meant for two people, not realizing I was sharing at my table. I didn't get to try their food, which I guess, not having grown up in the midwest, I'm alittle skeptical of. It includes like chopped ham spread or something? But a part of me is excited to try it; when in Rome right. The best part was the opportunity to play with a lite-brite. My friend Helen insisted on recreating "Starry Night" on a lite-brite and they had her sign it and they put it up! Really fun.
google avatar

Marieke S.

Yelp
I've been here twice, once for lunch/drinks and most recently just for drinks. I think it's a really cool spot! The decor on the inside is a fun retro vibe, and I'm a fan of the outdoor seating area. Good drink menu with some yummy cocktails/wine drinks, and a unique food menu with snacks to share.

Yelp
HomeMakers is a fun and unique addition to OTR's (cocktail) bar scene. The ambiance inside is retro like something out of the 50s to 70s. It's very nice and well done. The cocktail list is adventurous, split between stiff drinks and more easygoing ones. But stiff doesn't just mean strong here... they are very well thought out, creative, and tasteful. The experience and imagination from Sundry & Vice and Metropole definitely show here, while perfectly straddling the line between feeling fancy and being approachable. It's for sure one of the best places for craft cocktails in OTR. I have a feeling this will become as popular as Longfellow during happy hour. There are also a handful of wines, a handful of craft draft beers available, and a couple ciders. The snacks menu is cool - very oriented towards dips and cheese board type things with crackers or bread. We tried the hummus from Aladdin's with caramelized onions and chives and it was very tasty. Definitely will try more of the snacks in the future. I love that they have a locals discount if you live in the neighborhood. More places should do that! Very fun place. We will be back! P.S. That door in the back with the circle window...
google avatar

Lindsey S.

Yelp
I've been waiting most of the year for this bar to open! I've been taking cocktail classes with my husband since Catherine worked at Metropole and they've always been so unique and so much fun. When I heard she was opening a bar, I couldn't wait! The drinks here are unique and interesting - not what you'd find on an average cocktail menu and in the best way. We tried 3 different cocktails and all were quite good! It's Toasted, Hires to You, and That's Luck! My favorite was It's Toasted, but Hires to You had a great root beer taste. We also ordered some of the caramelized hummus with celery (I'm gluten free so you can get celery in place of or with the dips which is great!) and it was so so good!! Can't wait to come back here soon.

Yelp
One thing that stuck out to me most, more so than the amazing interior decorating and the inclusive and eclectic atmosphere; the staff. If people are cheering for shots (power to ya!) and you don't want one, they MAKE SURE not to serve you one. My very sweet (slightly inebriated) boyfriend was enthusiastically wanting to get me another drink or buy us shots and no matter which bartender was serving us, each would do a swift, casual check for affirmation from me before serving us. (And this was during a SUPER loud, SUPER busy part of the night!) They actually listen. Many places choose to serve anything to whoever is paying (typically the guy) so it was extremely comforting and validating to just get eye contact from a bartender, give a laughing "nooo!" and that was it, end of story. My boyfriend respected it as well, and we left happy, having had a great time :) This should be the standard of all bars and huge props to Homemakers for making this their norm. We can't wait to come back. :) P.S. they have really cool countertops

Yelp
Other than the nice patio I didn't really care for this place. The Italian sub was sad and unimpressive and the margarita was not very good. Very expensive for what you get. The uno cards as a table number was cute though.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
A bar in downtown Cincinnati that is owned by women...I'm already here for it! But they seriously have really good drinks too which is of course super important with being a bar lol What I really like is how they've handled things with Covid. They opened up the space behind the bar and have a complete outdoors bar area that heavily promotes social distancing. It also just really brings a unique experience that was right on time for summer. And on some days, they also have really good food specials go with your drinks. This really prevents you from having to move from place to place to satisfy all of your cravings. Lastly, the owners are the sweetest! They are so attentive and just have the best personalities. They really make me want to support them by how amazing they are. So I'll continue to do so! :)

Yelp
Incredible atmosphere. It wasn't super busy when we went, which was kind of nice actually. Excellent service from the bartender and fantastic mixed drinks. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Cute little place that has tasty drinks for every type of drinker. Fantastic non-alcoholic cocktails too
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I was creative enough to come up with a concept like the Homemakers Bar. The inside decor is super bright, colorful, and a perfect spot to grab drinks with friends. We tried the $5 white spritzers during happy hour and loved them. We will definitely be back soon for some cocktails!!
google avatar

Yelp
I actually got the privilege of meeting the owner of this bar before it opened at a cocktail class at New Riff. You could tell her excitement to bring her vision to life and I was delighted to finally be able to stop by after hearing about it so long ago. The place is super cute with retro themed decorations. It's a fun break from the usual "dark" bars that we have in OTR, and the drinks are good too! Great spot to start the night with some cocktails on a night out. Much love to this new business!

Daniel S.

Yelp
Beyond friendly. I'm so happy I stumbled on this place. The drinks are amazing and the staff even more friendly. Relaxed vibe focused on quality cocktails. Small and intimate without the fake vibe. Cincinnati is lucky to have a pace like this. I cannot wait to visit again.

Yelp
I came here a few times before covid hit, and had awesome drinks each time. Since covid started, they opened up an outdoor area in an adjacent parking lot, and it could not be better! Even on a cold and snowy day, we had an awesome time drinking hot cocktails by a propane fire which gave off a great amount of heat. There are also a few igloos to bring a small group of people together. I have not had any of the snacks, but we will definitely keep coming back for the drinks and the safe outdoor space!

Yelp
Great place for a group event, I went for a boardgame night. It's cozy, and the staff were very friendly. The reason I give 4 stars rather than 5 is because I didn't really enjoy anything I ordered? It wasn't bad, just not my taste. I had the ham salad sandwich, and a drink involving bourbon and grapefruit. The sandwich was SO salty i could only eat half of it out of sheer hunger. The cocktail had this weird chemical taste that I wasn't a fan of, but hey maybe it's just the grapefruit/bourbon combo. I feel like the quality and presentation of both were very good, I just picked very wrong... haha. I would definitely go back and give it another go, and do actually plan to do this at some point. I had a great night with friends despite not being a fan of my fare. I did finish the drink tho... i'm not a monster.

Yelp
While it still feels weird to ease my way back into bars since the pandemic started, it was a great feeling being inside Homemakers Bar this weekend. I had a friend in town visiting and was excited meet them for a drink. After another bar that we planned on meeting at was closed, we popped into homemakers for a quick drink. Cocktail prices are pretty fair for the area ($9-12). The gentleman wearing a hat behind the bar was very kind and really provided that kind of service that feels beyond just good service, but truly genuine human compassion. It's pretty difficult to convey that in such a brief interaction, but the staff here really managed it. I even listened to the bartenders checking in on a patron at the bar who was definitely feeling good. You could definitely hear that they were gently prodding to make sure she was okay to have another drink without being offensive or making her feel bad, truly a difficult situation that was handled with poise. I really liked my spritzer drink and would love to have more drinks from their cocktail menu. Will come back for the drink and definitely hope to see more of this awesome service from a great staff. Keep on being awesome, y'all!

Yelp
I ordered a glass of wine, was poured apporox 3 ounces into a whiskey glass (not even filling half way) so i asked for a double in order to get a full "glass" she hit me w a total of 26$ for one glass of house wine. Not impressed.

Yelp
This place is a step back in time. You can take "homemakers" quite literally, it feels like a throwback to the 50s and 60s when mom was the hostess with the mostest. The decor is probably my favorite part of this place. It is bright and full of color and definitely has a retro vibe. The bar itself looks fantastic-- someone went through the effort of breaking a bunch of beautiful old glassware, laying it out and cementing it in (with acrylic? I don't know the material lol but it's clear) so it looks beautiful. The windows in the building allow for a lot of natural light, too, so that's nice. There's a lot of seating available (at the bar and tables) and even some space for a small dance floor for when they have guest DJs. There is even a Pac-Man arcade game! My favorite place to drink, though, is the bar in the back room. It's a small area, fits probably 15-20 customers, but it's nice if you want a little cozy quiet spot (the main bar gets loud sometimes). The best part is they started doing themed weekends! One weekend in July they had a Christmas in July theme. As someone who LOVES Christmas, I was all over it. Now for what you're going to be putting in your face! You knew the drinks were going to be great, with a lot of influence from the Sundry & Vice crew. They have a decent cocktail menu, lotsa spritzers available but they can make you anything. They also have a food menu!! I might venture to say the menu might not be for everyone, most of the times I've seen the offerings it was some kind of mayo-meat salad on a sandwich. Definitely something new and different than any other restaurants I've been to! So I had to get the plate one night when they had a deal with a drink for $10! (The drink itself was I think $8? A steal!) I loved the food, but my favorite part was the dessert, I think it was a little custard pie. So good! Also want to point out the different hours. A lot of OTR cocktail bars will be closed on Mondays, but not Homemakers!! Homemakers fills a hole that OTR did not know it had. Worth checking out for a good time!

Yelp
Super cute, charming bar! Good to bring larger groups of people if you're going out, and close to everything in OTR. The bar top itself is unique, and the drink list is very diverse. I liked the feeling I got when I walked in, and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This cute retroish bar in OTR is such a dope spot to chill and indulge in crafted cocktails. I absolutely love the "It's toasted" which melds together 3 of my all time favorite flavors Coffee-lavender-Gin! Such a refreshing cup of yumminess! I also have enjoyed their gin and tonic bar on the weekends! I'm the girl who goes to a bar with a book in hand or my journal and stays in my own world, and Homemakers Bar doesn't make it feel uncomfortable at all. They also have local artisans have pop up shops inside which introduced me to some epic croissants from northsouth bakery... Try it out!

Yelp
The bartenders have always been friendly and made custom non-alcoholic beverages/mocktails for my wife. Their cocktails are solid. The atmosphere is comfortable.
