Sat down and made sure it was exactly what I wanted and matches perfectly with the rest of my furniture. Still waiting on the back ordered pillows but everyone has been super helpful.

Huge store with amazing staff who are eager to assist you with any questions on their products and services. Easy to get lost in browsing around the store as you shop for your new furniture. Hundreds of selections and the free delivery service is a definite bonus! I am over 2 hours away from the store and the delivery would still be free, however I paid the extra to have the delivery guys bring in and set up my new furniture and it was well worth the additional fee, however if you want to move the items in yourself their free delivery drivers will leave your items in your driveway or garage per your request. I highly recommend this store, the items I purchased where far better priced than any of my local stores, got the exact same items I was looking at locally for Hundreds of dollars less, and like I said I even paid extra for the in home delivery, set up, and even the 5 year allstate insurance on my items, and it was still cheaper than buying them from any of the local furniture stores. We will definitely return next time we update any room in the house.

They have the most beautiful furniture. There employees are not commotion based so there is no over bearing help. They have a great clearance center. Along with if you do need a special order for your furniture or just want to know something they are very helpful and know their facts. They also have long term interest free payment plans.

We had a fantastic experience at Homemakers. Our sales person was excellent, he was a good listener and helped us make furniture choices we are very happy with. The delivery team was excellent, they were on time, courteous, and did a great job setting up the furniture. We would recommend Homemakers and plan to buy from them again in the future.

Ordered bedroom chests and a glide rail on one was broken when we put it together. It’s been over 2 months now and their customer service just keeps telling us it’s going to be shipped “within a month.” We have had this broken product for 2 months already. Homemakers customer service has consistently been short with a “nothing we can do” attitude, have never called us with any updates, and have yet to even apologize for this issue. Will take my business elsewhere in the future with this disregard for customer satisfaction.

So far mediocre. Ordered recliner, which is in stock, and told today will be picked up for delivery next week for transport to my house in Phoenix. Not to expect delivery to my house for 3-4 weeks. I paid them $249 to deliver So if you want reasonable service for your $248 shop elsewhere.

A cool place to shop in Des Moines. I have been a couple times, each on a Sunday, and find cars waiting in the parking lot for their 11 am opening. I go for the home decor, but the furniture is a good selection also.

This review is about a return and the process and lack there of - touted Exceptional customer service. In early Aug, I purchased a $6,000 bed set that was targeted to be delivered 3 months later in November. This was not a special order, just a few things they did not have in stock and also given time to deliver to my area. I paid in full on checkout. On Aug 30th, I called and canceled the item. I was told that it could be a few days to receive the money back to my CC. I was fine with that. No money out of pocket, sure I can wait the time. After a week passed, I called the accounting dept as I had not received the credit. I was told a new system was in place creating some issues but would receive the money any day now. On Sep 11, I called back and this time expressed my concern that if the credit was not returned before Sep 17th, my CC would charge me interest on that purchase and that was not acceptable. Mike, in returns, told me he would send an email with high priority to accounting and almost every time following an urgent email - it was paid and responded to - that same day. He told me if not on Thursday then Friday for sure he thought I would have the credit back to my card. Monday morning, Sep 15th - I call again to the return center and this time another 'exceptional customer service' lady tries to assist me with this 'credit in process' and sends yet another email to accounting. She assured to me that I would have a callback by the end of the day and that most likely as the day was still early, I would see that credit. The end of the day passed, no correspondence and no credit applied. The following day, I call again -18 days into it, the day before the CC applies its fees on the 6k and Homemakers LACK OF exceptional customer service prevails. Shannon in Returns - customer service says the return is coming but will take a few days and hangs up on me. I call back, and another lady says it's a Cashiers issue and transfers me into VM. This has been a total joke and far from any 'exceptional customer service experience' that I have ever had. With the technology today, a child could issue a return. What is going on and where is my return credit!?!

I'm so upset right now. We've never had a problem here before, but we went last week to pick out furniture for our new house. We're already going through everything that comes with moving and buying our first house. We were excited when we were told our furniture could be delivered while we had time off to unpack. It was supposed to come today but I just called and was told it wasn't scheduled til May! We already had issues checking out. It took almost an hour just because we wanted a chair on clearance, a chair on back order, and wanted to use my Homemakers credit card. We talked to three different sales people who helped us get our cart set up, but when we went to check out it was a confused mess. They didn't understand we had three different orders and assured us we would get everything today other than the chair that comes in May. Well, they scheduled everything for May. The person that helped us check out, a manager of some kind, ruined our experience and ruined our day by complicating check out, not listening to us, and causing our furniture to not be delivered today when we were assured it would be. How ridiculous.

Drove 2 hours purchased a mattress, paid 802. For it. Went to load it and they put wrong name on receipt and pickup slip so there answer was we will keep the 802.for a week to 10 days and you can go back in and repurchase the mattress you just paid for and repay again. Drove a total of 4 hours for them to take our money and come home empty handed plus half a day. Will not be a return costumer.

It is an outstanding store if you are looking to purchase anything inside or outside your home, as its customer service and options are incredible. Lots of parking. There are huge aisles, honest and helpful staff members, and various price points. They have many options for almost anything you would need in a home environment. I loved the rug we picked out, and their delivery made it all work. Plus, their on-site cookies are baked at the store, and it's worth the trek to the back of the store to snare the cookies!

Very fun but sort of confusing how you couldn't buy the items you saw you had to go find them not easy to understand

1. Three delivery dates, no appearances 2. Three delivery dates no calls to say changed 3. Had delivery dates when merchandise not even on site 4. THREE weeks to refund d your money. I didn't take three weeks to pay them For something they didn't even have in stock. This day and age it takes 30 seconds to refund. This has to be illegal 5. Called manager to complain and he laughed and whistled in the phone. His name was Jason. Horrible horrible customer service 6. Why they don't have more competition in this huge City I do t understand 7. Would have cancelled my other special order, but they want to keep that down payment also 8. Apparently employees are no longer paid in commission so good luck getting help and proper help. I would not give them one star but I had to click a star.

We found a couple of Lazy Boy recliners that we wanted locally in Tulsa, OK. As we were saving to purchase the recliners, we did more research online. We happened to find the same recliners on the Homemakers Furniture website, but they were WAY cheaper. We saved $900 even with shipping. We were skeptical at first, so we called Homemakers. They answered all of our questions and were very friendly. We decided to go for it and order them. It took about a month, but we got them and SAVED OVER $900!! We love them. We would recommend Homemakers Furniture to everyone. Great service. Great delivery. Great product!

I have never gone to homemakers without having to stand at the counter for ten to twenty minutes while the employee clicks around on the computer trying to "check out" whatever it is that I'm buying or trying to find the gift card information. It's completely ridiculous how bad their customer service is and how ancient their equipment is. I would never recommend This place.

I purchased a dining room set, is was labeled as one of their "best" sets. It included a table, 4 chairs, and a bench. The bench legs broke and the warranty I purchased took over 4 months to provide resolution of the claim. The options provided were terrible, so I called Homemakers customer service and spoke with Barb who was unhelpful and defensive when I told her the options provided as unacceptable. The response I received from the customer service supervisor, Emily, was substandard. Emily failed to even acknowledge the poor service that Barb provided. Homemakers isn't what they used to be. I made my first purchase there in 2004; I made my last purchase this year, 2023.

LONG STORY SHORT: Waited 7 weeks for custom order--order was made wrong. It's now going on 11 weeks and I only have half my couch. -------- I wish I could give this company 5 stars due to their beautiful showroom and excellent IN-STORE customer service; however, once you pay and leave the store, it's an entirely different story. We ordered a custom color 3-piece sectional (chaise, middle piece, and cuddler) and recliner for $2000. They told us the customization would take 6-8 weeks & be delivered to our home. Okay. 7 weeks later-- our furniture is delivered & we open the boxes. They gave us 2 chaises & a middle section-- not what we ordered. We called them back and had them pick it back up. After about 4-5 hours of calling the customer service 3 different times, I finally got an email stating that they will work on ordering me then correct piece and sent me a receipt for the piece they picked back up. Long story short, it has been 4 weeks since they delivered the wrong item, and I am still waiting on the other half my couch-- so 11 weeks total and counting. The only thing they have done for me is give me $100 back and acted like they were doing me a favor by that. That's 5% of the total order. If anything that is a slap in the face. Additionally, they said they would "rush" my order, but it's looking like that was a lie. Anyways, I'm not sure where they went wrong-- maybe in the ordering process or at the factory--but, I'm still waiting for my furniture 11 weeks later and feel as if they don't even care that I'm over here with half a couch. Thanks Homemakers Furniture!

Went in on a Wednesday morning looking for something for storage. We came out with a nice storage cube thing. We were greeted by numerous employees as we went through the store. When we chose our purchase Alyssa got us checked out and on our way easily. She was friendly, helpful and efficient. We drove up for pick up and that was super quick and easy. We haven't attempted to put this thing together yet, so that may be our only complaint, but Alyssa did let us know exactly how it would come.

We went to Slumberland here in Iowa City and found a sofa we liked, but we went online to price compare. (Plus, their sales people were bugging us, the furniture set ups looked haphazard and even missing some parts!) I found the website of Homemakers (this business). Two online salespeople helped me find the sofa as well as two bookcases i needed to order more of. Robert and Maddie were amazing, friendly, VERY helpful and not at all pushy. Took an hour or so, but we've placed our order with them and now just have to wait the manufacturer's extended wait time to get our items.

I ordered a La Z Boy Ottoman from them three months ago. Was supposed to be delivered 8/21 When I looked the order never shipped and I cancelled We are almost in September and still not a refund When I placed the order, they contacted me and asked me to leave a review, and I said I'd be happy to once I got it and it was a good transaction.. Avoid this place like the plague, maybe if they actually have it in stock its ok but they are shady - dodgy Thanks to the receptionist Riley for transferring me into empty mailboxes, hanging up on me directly. I am so angry I am shaking. Fuck this place to hell and back

This place is huge and has an ever changing variety of products and furniture for sale. Family friendly. Friendly staff, the ones I've met, anyway. They have fresh-from-the-oven cookies to take a break while you shop!!! Definitely an above average place. I've gotten a king sized oak sleigh bed that has under bed drawers from here. I love it. I also got the mattress for the bed. When it's time to get a new mattress, I'll likely look at the newer, cooling models. My SO and I have been looking for a mattress and decided to come to Homemakers to check some out. This place is huge! Bonus of coming here is their little cafe area where the wonderful ladies serve you some yummy Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and your choice of lemonade or coffee. It's a nice little break to take in between shopping...just don't take the cookies and drinks out of the area. The bottom floor has couches and chairs, home decor, financing area, clearance section, and the H&M outlet area. Upstairs would be the mattresses of all variety and different bedroom sets. There is literally all salesperson in every single area so if you need help, there is always someone available. If you are hunting for furniture, check this place out!

I have purchased several things (a sofa, rug, tv stand, patio set, and bed frame) from Homemakers in the past few years and have had a great experience each time! We used their same day pick up and had no trouble just pulling around to the back of the store and someone was out within minutes to load it onto our truck. Everyone has been super helpful and friendly and the furniture is cute in my space!

Homemakers Furniture is the worse place to deal with. My daughter purchased furniture from them and one of the items was out of stock, telling her she has to pay another shipping fee for the out of stock item, she already paid for one. I was with her and they never explained that she has to pay two shipping fees. But, they will bring it and just drop it in the driveway. Hello! She just had hernia surgery. Will never deal with them again.

Like many others I cancelled an order on November 21st. 2023 and I am still waiting for my credit one month later. They never answer their phones and if you leave a message they will not return your calls. they do not respond to emails. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and would advise others to do so as well. Worst place I have ever delt with. I don't know haw they stay in business.

I had my furniture delivered on November 16th. There were a few items I had to cancel before delivery due to not fitting in my house. This resulted in a $1086 credit Homemakers owed me. I have waited 30 days for that credit and I STILL DO NOT have this credit. I've called, chatted, and emailed a dozen times. There is still no resolution. They got my $4000 for my order, yet I still have no credit. I love my furniture, but cannot stand a company that is still withholding a very large amount of money from me. Frustration does not even begin to explain how livid I am.

Went in to get a new dining room table, sat at the table and waited like 5 min with my family nobody came or was even in the area this Friday so my daughter had to go the front to retrieve a salesperson, she was very nice but not very knowledgeable at all or super ecstatic about her job, every-time I asked her a question she would reply I don't know".....? I had her write up the table and found somebody else to sell me furniture, this was the first time I was here I swear by Slumberland and will return there to purchase my future furniture! That's too bad Homemakers because I have heard nothing but rave reviews, but first impressions is everything for me!!

I really wanted a couch, but I didn't want to pay an extraordinary amount of money for it - which left trying to find scratch and dent furniture or clearanced furniture. I was okay with that. However, it turns out that that's difficult to do in the area as many smaller furniture stores don't tend to keep those types of clearance furniture around. My search led me to Homemakers Furniture, and I've established that it's definitely the largest furniture store in Central Iowa. I uploaded some pictures to give a general idea of how huge this store is. And it's HUGE. They have multiple sets of bathrooms throughout the store because of how large it is. There are rows and rows upon rows of options to choose from. They are semi-organized by type, so you'll tend to find all sectionals in one area while all dinner tables will be in another. They tend to organize their furniture by "theme", so the sectional will have nearby rugs, decor, tables, and more that match. It takes up more room and makes looking for a good sectional more difficult, so I wish they wouldn't do that, but I understand why they do. Sales associates here are paid based upon commission, so keep that in mind when looking. They can do orders over the phone, so if you want more time to think about a purchase, ask for their business card and the item number, and you can always order via phone at a later time. There's a small dining area that offers free food as well. They have free lemonade, coffee, and cookies. The food needs to stay in that area, but hey, for free food, it's pretty awesome! (They are yummy cookies too) The Clearanced Area and the regular-priced area are two separate entities. That means if you buy something from the Clearance area, you'll need to do a separate purchase for the regular-priced area. Just something to keep in mind. I'm not sure how the delivery fee would work for those two different items. Delivery to Ames was $60 for anything I was looking at. I spent a lot of time in the Clearance area, and they actually Clearance things here. It isn't some fake clearanced prices. There will be items that are marked down to $99 from $600. (Normally these are single pieces of sectionals that they have left over). There were couches available in the $200 and sectionals available in the $450 range. There were regular, armless chairs in the $99 range and recliners in the $200 range. The purchasing experience was nice, and Ruby was really friendly to deal with. She answered my questions while also giving me space to make my decision. When I asked for items in a specific price range, she had no issue helping me find those. I ended up deciding to think about the couches and sectionals I was thinking of purchasing, but I fell in love with a clearanced end table. Since it would fit in my car, I decided to purchase it then and take it home. This is where things got a bit more annoying. Up until this point, the only time that had been wasted was of my own choice because I was looking over furniture. Once I decided I wanted to purchase, I had to wait 15 minutes just to purchase the item. While purchasing it, the credit card screen froze, so I was told to go up-front to purchase. Once I made it upfront, it was another 15 minutes in line waiting to check-out. It's possible I was just here at the wrong time, but it was extremely frustrating when I just wanted to purchase and leave. I ended up spending slightly over 30 minutes just waiting in lines to be helped. Once I had the purchase, you just drive around to the back, and give them your order number. They'll load up your purchase into your car (they also offer delivery). The guy who helped me was very nice, and the item made it just fine back to my place. Final thoughts: It's a great furniture store, and they offer some of the best prices that I've seen. Unfortunately, the lines were also a bit longer than they had to be which led to frustration. As long as you're willing to spend a bit of time here, it's definitely a place I'd recommend shopping at.

Homemakers has completely redeemed themselves. Their customer service representative reached out to me and came up with a solution to my problem with the South Seas Rattan Set I bought where the inside cushions just completely deteriorated inside my Sunbrella fabric. Shaun Wagner was able to get the replacement insides to the cushions shipped to me in time for Mother's Day. I will be shopping at Homemakers again soon. Thank you for standing behind your products and doing the right thing.

It is so big and no one helps. I saw on line what I wanted but couldn't find it in the store. No maps, no help no nothing!

If there was a less than one I would give it. My Delivery was scheduled between 2 to 4 for me today. Then their automated system changed it to 445 then 545 yet they are still not here. I am self-employed and rescheduled six clients today. I talked to the delivery manager Mike and he said that the system is down. He had tons of excuses and lacked any accountability. He said that his driver has 16 deliveries today. I fail to understand why the manager would give them that many deliveries. I believe that homemakers get you into the door with good deals but their lack of follow through with delivery leaves me to believe there is an intentional lack of business integrity. We will not be shopping with them again. We have had a similar situation with Nebraska furniture Mart which is affiliated with homemakers. Again, I am disappointed in their lack of integrity. 09/17/19 Update: Homemaker's reached out to me not numerous times one time. They put the responsibility for poor service on their driver. I'm Disappointed again that they don't see this as an overbooking, under delivering management issue.

I used to shop here for furniture. Never again. Between messing up 4 times for delivery, sending 2 wrong items for what was supposed to be a bedroom set, bad customer service, and then to top it all off accusing me of not paying (when I had repeatedly called and begged them for the bill so that I could pay in full and never speak to them again), easy decision to use better, online retailers. Avoid this place. There are too many better options.

I ordered 2 Lazy Boy rocker recliners from Homemakers and I'm extremely happy with the chairs and delivery. They were delivered on time. I would definitely order from Homemakers again when I need furniture because their prices are so much better than most stores.

Homemakers is a large furniture store with many options. The bedroom sets seem to be mostly expensive or cheap, as I didn't notice much in the middle ground. They have a clearance and discount area with fast replaced items (one day there, next day 40% changed items), so you can get some good deals on returns or leftovers. Just don't spend much time thinking about getting a discount item, else it might be gone.

Homemakers recently added a section of their store called the outlet that offers products with competitive pricing to items found online. This area has many different options for the living room and bedroom. These products fall within the "good" quality ratings. Typically known to last 5-10 years. This area was perfect to find economical furniture for my young adult looking to furnish her first apartment. I am also the type who gets very bored with furniture. So without planning it, found myself purchasing a lovely sectional for $698. I selected the Salsa color so it wasn't readily in stock, however was able to get it delivered with in 2 weeks. If you are looking for long lasting furniture then they have items for you as well! The delivery was free. However delivery is to driveway only. They call you within a 2 hour window and you must be present. Items are unloaded in the driveway and you take it inside your home.

HUGE selection of furniture and home decor! Very spacious and clean. You will find all the most popular and trendy home items here. So if you're looking for timeless home pieces this might not be your place if you know how to pick a timeless item. Think trendy and in style. If you want unique this is NOT your place. Customer service is hit and miss. Everyone there is different and each department is different. We've been there on different days at different times and service is always different. It's always the furniture sales person who will agree to your every "maybe". They are just there to help you with your purchase.

My 89 year old mother nicely asked if her $150 credit that needs to be spent this month could kindly be extended due to Covid (we don't want her going out shopping). Homemakers sent her a text saying no shop on line! Seriously?! With everything going on in the world you respond to an 89 year old woman who spent her time to write you a nice letter ?! My rating is based on purchases which require delivery. Deliveries can not accommodate a customer's schedule because a computer does the scheduling. Staff will not hand schedule, so I can't get my goods, which are paid for, delivered. I will never again buy items which require delivery!

Homemakers is a giant wonderland full of very unique finds! I could spend hours in there. The clearance section always has super awesome deals on items that are in perfect condition! Customer service staff are more than willing to help. One of the slats on my bed broke and they had someone cut a new one right there in their warehouse for me at no charge. I also love that they serve free cookies, lemonade, water, and coffee. It makes the shopping experience that much more exciting!

The in store service was excellent. However, the online account needs some major attention. If you make any changes to your order, it doesn't update on your online account. No one in the store seems to know what to do. How about escalate to someone who does?

I don't know what happened between earlier this year and now but customer service had TANKED. We ordered a custom Jonathan Lewis couch 2 1/2 months ago, and was told it would be delivered at the end of October. To my delight they called 3 weeks ago and it had arrived early. It was to be delivered a week ago yesterday (Saturday) and when the truck got here they guy came walking up with the wrong color couch. Customer service appeared to be on it on that Saturday but of course JL was closed. Homemakers has been completely non communicative since Tuesday and each time I talked to them, I had to call them. At this point I have no couch, am out almost $3,000, and I feel completely ripped off. I finally get someone to answer me via email and again met with no concern, no explanation of what happened, only that a new couch was ordered and it would be the end of December before we get it. 5 months after the original order. I was treated as if this is completely normal and I was wrong for feeling frustrated. Barb in customer service is the absolute worst person I've ever dealt with with ZERO empathy. The attitude I received from her was "yeah, and?" And I've been completely dismissed as if my money means nothing. I am being told I will be refunded in full but that solves NOTHING as I am still without a couch. I've never been treated so horribly by a furniture store and not that they care but they will never get my business again.

Mixed feelings here. Here is why: Couch shopping. We went here, enjoyed a yummy cookie and started our search. Round one- we hunt for a good deal. We went straight to the clearance area. After walking around the clearance we think we had found what we were looking for. We discussed the couch with one of the salesmen. We left our number. We walked around part of the giant store. Salesman was very helpful with attempting to sell us a full priced couch. They did have a bunch of options. The next day we received a call from Homemakers about the couch. We were all set to get the couch but then... it sold. Hadn't had a chance to get the money to the salesman and it was gone. The salesman told us he would hang onto our number for something close to what were looking at. We didn't think we would ever hear of it again. Round two: We got a phone call from salesman. How weird... the couch, that we had attempted to get came back! It had been too big for the other couple. With a little convincing we got a deal on the couch that we had originally would have paid more for the first time in round one. It was delivered to us and we moved it into the house ourselves. Even though we thought in round one that the overall wasn't that great, things made a little comeback with the salesman who followed through.

The furniture is just too cookie cutter and nothing has real personality. We have visited this store twice and feel uncomfortable as the sales people seem to circle like vultures looking for their next meal. We just wanted to look at our leisure and not be pressured. I doubt that we will be back again because it is the same furniture that everyone has in their house. We like unique pieces.

Please note before continuing to read that we did not purchase from here so there will not be a review of the actual purchase experience. We came in here wanting a sectional to replace our current one. We also wanted to replace a recliner. The first time we came in, we were looking for quality pieces that would last. One man helped lead us to the sectionals but then basically told us that we weren't worth his time and left us after only saying, don't get Ashley furniture if you want quality. Later in the same evening, he saw us again and said, "You guys are still here? I thought you'd be gone." Pretty sure he didn't think we were ever going to purchase a thing. We thought we had found a sectional we wanted but continued to look around. After leaving there, I did lots of research and found that the sectional we were looking at has terrible quality. Fast forward to the next night. We had gone to a couple other furniture stores to see what they offered. We were checking out a different sectional when a sales guy approached us. We told him we wanted quality and he took us to their highest quality furniture (and it really was this time). He talked about special ordering options and we left that night at closing. We came back in the next day to discuss price. He gave us prices based on the fabric selections we had made at another store (Homemaker's didn't have the same fabric we wanted). We left with the figures and ultimately, decided to purchase from a furniture store in Boone. Due to their service, attention to customers, help determining everything, etc. oh, they also dropped their price to meet Homemaker's. Our overall experience wasn't terrible but we felt like it took too long for them to show us true quality. I really think it came down to our age with the first guy. We will still consider them as an option because they do have some good stuff.

This is not really my style of store, but man is it huge! And it full of stuff! And they have a ton of people on staff ready to help at any time! We met a guy named John who was super helpful and answered a ton of questions we had! I guess we are in the market for a chest to put some clothes in! Personally I kinda like living out of a back pack but, to each his own! This store is huge, it has tons of stuff to fill your house from furniture, to art, to beds, etc. My fave part of my experience was the free lemonade they had in the cafe. My first lemonade of the summer! They also have free coffee, water, and fresh baked cookies! Now if there anything that make a place feel homey.. it's fresh baked cookies! If you got the dough and want to fill your home with stuff, this is probably a great place to start!

Love this furniture store! First of all, it's huge and two floors~ love that! You can buy everything in one place, if you wanted to! The day I went, I was there to help my sister pick out a sofa, loveseat, and sofa table. We walked in and started browsing, then paused to figure out a way to walk the aisles of sofas which seemed endless. I commented that they must be organized somehow so we asked a nearby sales person, Chad. He explained that they were organized by leather, fabric, price, and then sofa bed, recliner, etc. We said, "great, that will help". Then, we started to walk away. Like any good salesperson, Chad asked what we were looking for. My sister told him and he walked us to the section that we should look in. Chad took us from one set to another, was patient, and knowledgeable. He gave options and advice. We were able to make a decision pretty quickly, on a sofa and loveseat. The sofa table was another story. It took a little while to find what my sister had in mind. Chad showed several and even suggested a great sofa table, end table, and coffee table set that would work. My sister finally decided to settle for a piece that was close to what she wanted. They are supposed to be delivered on Friday. I will still be in Des Moines, so I will let you know how the delivery went. I love furniture stores! BTW- they have no interest financing, have a clearance section in the store, and complimentary cookies and refreshments, by the escalators. Furniture shopping can be tough, but it was easy here! UPDATE- 4/3: The delivery went great! The furniture arrived on April 1st within the scheduled 2-hr window, the delivery guys were nice and personable, especially Jose. He had some funny April Fools jokes- told my sister that he was delivering her leather sofas. She hates leather furniture, so it was funny. So, overall all-around great service!

I love Homemakers. I wish they had this store in Chicago. Sadly, they do not! We were helped by sales associate Chuck. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the furniture and the products /services Homemaker offered. When Chuck told us that he had been in the furniture sales business for almost 15 years, I knew we were in good hands. Chuck was very patient with us, even when we told him we had to go home to think things through. Chuck was gracious enough to accept our response and offered us his business card. We eventually called Chuck the next day to purchase the sofa set we wanted. The Homemakers store itself is very spacious with comfortable sofa sets, dining sets, bedroom sets, and other furnitures. They offer many furnitures in different colors, styles, and fabrics. On the sofas, the store offers to seal the sofa with a protective spray (with an extra cost). We went to other furniture stores in the area, but Homemakers had the best variety with competitive prices. Plus, on the weekend we went, they offered to take 6% off (basically did not charge tax on the products) and allowed no payment interest for 9-12 months for anyone that had a Homemakers credit card. As a shopper, the store offers complimentary lemonade, coffee, water, and freshly baked cookies. I love this place!!!

We bought a $3,000 dining set. I contacted them within 1 hour of delivery to let them know that 4 out of the 6 chairs had damage and/or staining defects and that both of the table leafs have defects. Their solution? "We will have a service technician touch those up". No thank you! I expect a $3,000 dining set to be perfect. Plus, how do you touch up the lack of stain under a catalyzed finish? After I threatened to return the set, they said they can't replace the chairs for almost 2 weeks. I think they are trying to run down the clock for the 30 day return window. First and last time shopping at Homemakers. If this is their "best" quality, I can't even imagine "better" and "good".

Sell warranties that truly suck! Took 3.5 months to get repair done. No chair in den for 3 holidays and endless guests. So disgusted ill be driving to Redeckers in Boone from now on.

If I could give Homemakers zero stars I would!! I recently special ordered a couch and chair from them all together close to a $5k purchase. I purchased the protection plan in case of accident which they suggested I do. Unfortunately, a highlighter had leaked onto the light fabric of the chair. The protection company came out was able to get the highlighter color out of the chair but when doing so the color of the thread on the chair bleed but only is a few areas where there was a seem. I watched the gentleman clean it with water soluble products and a steamer. No other place on the chair did this fabric bleed other than seems. He told me to call Homemakers and check with them as this was clearly a defect in the chair. I called, was told that my warranty was only for a year...and I was 1.5 years out. That it was clearly the cleaners fault that this happened and there was nothing they could do for me. I kindly asked to speak to the manager as I wanted to understand what options I had. I was put on hold as the customer service rep was going to get the manager. The same customer service rep came back on the phone and told me that the manager said to tell me the same thing that I just told you. I am now stuck with a $2500 special order chair that is ruined because threading had died into the chair by a cleaning from purchasing a protection plan that they sold me and now trying to blame that company. Such poor customer service, do not stand behind quality of their items or the companies they work with and get money from selling their protection plans. So disgusted that they won't even make it right and give me a chair for half the price that I paid for this one. I will NEVER buy from Homemakers again and will tell EVERYONE I know not to do so either. I could have went to Ethan Allen for what this furniture cost me yet they will do nothing. I buy quality furniture and they would have gotten much more of my business had they just stepped up to the plate.
