OK, people. You’re about to eat a bunch of love if you come here. This food will love you up from the inside out.These folks at homeroom wow they know how to feed the hungry And the lonely and the tired and maybe sad. That was me about an hour ago. Eating their food is like An angel came and prepared the most wonderful Meal for me. It’s.so delicious And you don’t want it to end So I had to slow down from just wanting to gorge on it cause it’s so good. I just wanted it to last the deliciousness of it all. Then after you have eaten your delicious warm yummy food You feel whole again. I had the chicken pot pie macaroni With extra peas and extra chicken. I am not exaggerating when I say this delicious dish is the best thing I’ve eaten in years. I actually can’t remember eating anything this good.. I feel like I just got hugged and loved up from the inside out eating this food. It’s very well prepared. The Generous, perfectly sized morsels of chicken are perfectly Prepared and cooked ; All chicken breast no skin or Crystal. Lots of care went into preparing The meat and the vegetables before they are cooked.. Every bite wastender and perfectly cooked. The vegetables, Carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, and delicious spices And the sauces are very generously Folded into this delicious yummy dish. It’s not At all the usual macaroni and cheese. It was like the perfect chicken pot pie could ever imagine with macaroni in it. And I’m not even stoned and it was so good. If I ever had been stoned, this is what I would definitely order but now I’m gonna order it even though I don’t get stoned anymore.. It’s lots of delicious vegetables and chicken and carrots and wonderful flavors. I can’t wait till I’m hungry again and then I can just Keep eating this food and feel so loved up from it. This food is pure love is what it is. It’s love food.

Last night a friend and I wandered in after visiting at Kaiser and we were helped by Alfredo. Loved him! His service was excellent and he chatted with us while we waited for our order. Definitely feels like it’s been a while since I’ve had personable service at an establishment, so his generosity really stood out. And the Mac was bomb

This place (and the main restaurant just down the road) was highly recommended to us by an East Bay native and it really delivers! The mac and cheese is *excellent* - pasta in a roux-based cheese sauce with breadcrumbs on top! The garlic mac and cheese is the way to go. On top of it all, our counter guy Alfred was so great. It took a little while for our take out order to be ready and talking to him was just a good hang. I gave 5 stars for atmosphere just for him

Stopped through from out of state since who doesn’t love a good Mac and cheese? Food was amazing and service as great, everyone was kind. I got the Jalapeño Popper Mac and it was so delicious! Definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved their jalepeno popper mac and cheese! They also do catering orders with a half bake option so you can bake it at home later. You’re missing out if you havent tried this place!

I am genuinely perplexed by the good reviews for this place. The service was very friendly, but it took the kitchen an extra half hour past my pick up time to make my salad. I'm glad they did, though, because it was really the only edible part of my meal. The aged mac and cheese had a strong flavor, but it wasn't good and kind of grainy. The biscuit was cold and had a bizarre aftertaste. The brownie was decent, but had a weird texture and way too sweet. Overall a super disappointing experience.

Best Mac n cheese place! They do have a seasonal menu, which is exciting at times! Wished the Hawaiian Mac was a main staple! Their pizza Mac, chicken pot pie Mac, and so on are all great! Hope to see more creative macs soon because I keep seeing almost the same Mac each season without anything new🥺but still they're all great!

Leilani was the most incredible server I've ever had. Homeroom as always is in a league of its own and when you've had it you can't stop going back. I live 4 hours away and never fail to stop when I'm even vaguely close by. That being said after coming to homeroom for over a decade Leilani was the most memorable and inviting person who I've met at homeroom and I hope you guys promote her. Made my day thank you!

Homeroom never disappoints. I didn't realize until recently that I've been coming here for the last 10 years before I moved to Oakland. You can't go wrong with any of the macs that you choose. My favorites are definitely the old Bay crab mac, the maximus and now the chicken pot pie. Thank you, Homeroom for giving that comfort that we all need sometimes! #GoldenBirthday

I had Homeroom just a week ago at another location and it was delish, and as we were in the area this past Saturday, I decided to return to try the chicken pot pie mac (with added bacon), and we also got the jalapeno popper mac which we've enjoyed in the past. We got the buttery garlic green beans as well. We ordered online, and the pickup process was quick and easy, with professional service from staff, and street parking available right in front near the entrance. Everything was fantastic. Those green beans were definitely buttery with just a hint of garlic to please our taste buds. The mac dishes were generous portions with a nice balance of ingredients. The jalapeno popper mac had a nice kick, definitely spicy and lots of flavor. The chicken pot pie mac was a hearty comforting meal on a cold winter evening. Large chunks of chicken and veggies, lots of peas, very cheesy and saucy too. It was yummy! Positive experience overall.

Jenbert Jr. loves mac & cheese so much that Homeroom has become a staple in our family. Homeroom has been there for birthdays, rainy days spent inside, and many, many more. Our favorites are the Classic Mac and the Gilroy Garlic, half-baked to heat up at home & toasted with breadcrumbs. You really can't go wrong with anything you choose here though. #GoldenBirthday

My goodness -- its been a minute since I had Homeroom's mac n cheese in Oakland and ooOwee I was reminded how nom bomb it is! My partner and I were driving through the neighborhood so we hit up Homeroom To Go storefront and received the utmost professional and personable customer service. No seriously -- we were greeted not only with a smile and warm energy, but also awesome conversation, recommendations, and baked goods! The brownies were a nice touch to an already exceptional take out experience. We didn't catch the man's name but he was working the front. On top of excellent service, the mac n cheese was chef's kiss! We got the chicken pot pie, and truffle mac -- both were heavy loads and hearty indeed. We shared and got the best of both dishes! My partner immediately talked about going back again. What's not to love?!

Ordered over the phone and got the Gilroy garlic Mac and added chicken. Was able to pick up order quickly. It was very garlicky which I loved. The chicken was okay, if I order next time can do without the chicken as it was meh.

Starting today, I will never order from Home Room again because I almost lost my life. While I was enjoying my mac and cheese, I encountered something hard, which turned out to be a piece of metal. This is a serious health hazard. I've been a loyal customer since high school, which has been over a decade, and I am incredibly disappointed.

I typically order on the app and my food is ready within 20-30 minutes depending how much you order. I recommend ordering ahead if you do togo so you don't have to wait while they prepare your order. Plenty of times they've offered me water and chatted with me while my order was being made. Everyone here is so friendly! The one time around thanksgiving my order was behind and i eneded up waiting an extra 30 minutes for my food, i wasn't upset but they made sure to offer me either a limeade or cookie on the house while i waited. My favorite is the Buffalo chicken mac. I've only tried the elote and chicken bacon ranch one and braised rib one but buffalo chicken beats those. Service is also quick since I always call in my order ahead of time.

the service and vibes here was wonderful!! the service at the front was friendly as well as efficient!! also love how personable he was!! we mentioned how we were going to a txt concert after and he played txt for us while we sat!!! truly appreciate him!!! even tho this place is strictly for to-go orders, there was a few seating inside and some outside! got the elote mac and cheese!! it was deliciously savory and the lime was so refreshing on top! it never disappoints my absolute fav dessert was the giant oreo! definitely recommend if you love oreos and have a sweet tooth! even though, it was thinner than i expected, the cookie texture itself was firm which paired well with the yummy cream inside. i'm glad the oreo cookie wasn't a cracker texture. i kept snacking on even after the concert! it was so delicious!

The space inside is intended for just waiting for food of course so there's limited seating. It's pretty casual. There's also seating available outside. The staff was friendly and helped make recommendations based on what I liked. With the menus breadth, so many options looked good. And I can be pretty indecisive. I landed on the Short Rib Mac. Pretty decent serving size. Very filling and tasted pretty good. I had the strawberry limeade-to drink and it was so tart. I'd pass on the banana cream. I'm pretty particular about banana pudding so maybe I'm pretty critical but I wouldn't eat it again. There are so many different Mac options to choose from that I'd be back.

Love me some Mac and cheese! No better way than to order to go. We typically order through the website and schedule for when we like to pick up. Also on time which is awesome. Our go-to Mac is the Gilroy Mac and nothing beats that! Highly recommend putting your order in online while you drive there so you don't have to wait to pick up.

Well known mac and cheese spot in Oakland and Berkeley area. This location is specifically for their to-go orders and is down the street from the main restaurant. I typically only get Homeroom to go so this review will solely be about the food. This spot is great and really hits that itch for jazzed up mac and cheese! I would highly recommend the chicken pot pie mac (with added jalapeños!) if they have it. (It's either limited time or seasonal, I'm not quite sure - hopefully they add it in permanently!) Their peanut butter pie is also great - though I can never really finish a slice due to how heavy it is. Another favorite would be the buffalo mac! An underrated feature of this place is that you can order a half baked mac and cheese if you aren't immediately eating it - a nice touch since it has to be eaten hot!

Alfred, the front store worker, is the absolute best. My bf and I came here during restaurant week looking to grab some Homeroom before heading back to the SouthBay. We walked into Homeroom as they were closing so they sent us down to Homeroom To Go. We walked over leaving our car at Homeroom. After answering all my bf's questions about vegan cheese and then helping me choose a non-vegan one, we walked back to our car while we waited to go pick up the order. Alfred chatted with us for a few minutes and apologized to me (unnecessarily and sweetly) for not having any of the ones I wanted and as I struggled to read the menu on the wall (I have bad eyes) While we waited, we walked to get our car. We mentioned we had a far trek home so he said he'd come out with the order as soon as it was done to save us time (it was late) but I didn't expect that he actually would. As soon as we pulled in, I ran in and he surprised us by bringing us the food and then a bottle of water for the road! He was the kindest and loveliest person to encounter that evening. I hope he's doing well. Just for Alfred I'd come back but the Mac and Cheese was yummy, lasted 2 meals and enjoyable too

This was unexpectedly delicious. Yes I know Mac and cheese is good. This was on my list for a reason. But honestly I didn't expect it to be that good. One of the best Mac and cheeses I've ever had. The Gilroy Mac was a flavor bomb. I think what I enjoyed most was that the macaroni noodles were cooked perfectly. That nice al dente chew. The cheese was gooey. And the garlic gave it that kick. Now I understand why Homeroom is a must visit when in Oakland. Can someone make my Mac and cheese like this at home please?! Recommendation: Gilroy Mac

The front store worker was extremely kind and even offered me free dessert. During the wait for my food, he let me know about local communities and other places that I should try out. There is plenty of places to wait in and outside of the store as well. I will definitely be coming here again.

Yum! Best Mac, insanely good Oreo cookies, and the kindest staff. Came here with 3 strung out kids after a 5 hour flight and Alfred was the very best. He took our kids orders and was patient, personable, and wonderfully kind.

Usually go to the main Homeroom restaurant a couple blocks away to dine in, but decided stop here for a to go order of Gilroy Garlic Mac (with broccoli and vegan sausage) and a Giant Oreo. The cashier was friendly and rang me up quickly. Both the garlic mac and oreo were still hot and warm when I got home. The garlic mac tasted delicious and was very savory. The oreo was a little too sweet for me, but still enjoyable. Just a good spot to get your mac and cheese fix on the go.

Tip: checkin on Yelp for a free vegan brownie with your order! Mmmmm if you haven't tried the vegan brownie, you must! It is vegan and gluten free, you can't even tell from how chocolatey and decadent it is! Definitely a sizable brownie, I like to share it or split it up into 2 servings! Got the jalapeno popper mac again, one of my favs since I love jalapeno poppers so much. Definitely a great choice if you like jalapeno poppers also. Love the creamy cheese mmmmmm The bacon Mac however was ok. Very disappointed that I ordered the buffalo chicken which I really like, but they gave me the bacon Mac. I didn't realize until I got all the way home to San Bruno and there was no way I was gonna go back to Oakland the same day to get the correct order. Buffalo chicken is one of my go tos for homeroom, classic buffalo chicken and Mac! I guess it gave me the opportunity to try the bacon Mac which was good, but not amazing. It was a yummy Mac and cheese with bacon added, that's what it felt like. If you like bacon, you'll probably like the bacon Mac and cheese!

I had a craving for mac and cheese so my boyfriend picked some up from Homeroom! They have the best mac and cheese! Service: We placed an online order and it was ready within 20-25 mins. They had a lot of orders to prepare so it took awhile to get my order. The staff was very kind. Food: I ordered the Hawaiian Mac. I love pineapples and bacon so I chose this one. It was hot in temperature and flavorful. It was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend their mac and cheese! They have a lot of options. They all sound delicious! They had a special item, Chicken Pot Pie Mac, when I was there but I didn't get it. I should have cause it sounded amazing. I will be trying that next time!

This is my first time, and my last time, ordering from this restaurant. I ordered two things of macaroni and cheese. The first one was classic mac & cheese, with added chicken and added breadcrumbs. The second one was crab mac & cheese, but it should be called crap , macaroni, and cheese. And I also purchased two strawberry lemonades too. To get straight to the point, the macaroni and cheese taste horrible both of them I ordered the classic Mac and cheese for my younger daughter, that's 11 years old. She said mom this is nasty. I don't want it so I had to throw it away. Got home and tasted mines, and mines, tasted Disgusting. I spent a little over $50 for this meal, and it was totally disappointing and very . I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I don't see how this place has all these good reviews on their macaroni and cheese because it's so nasty. I know black & brown people with southern background in them don't eats this type of macaroni and cheese. Because this macaroni and cheese is very, very, very, nasty. Never will I come back to this restaurant again. I'm so sorry for the bad review but the food is horrible at this restaurant. But the cashier he was very wonderful good customer service so he deserves a raise, but far as the food no good .‍

Ordered my food via DoorDash and got notified that my food would be ready for pick up at 7:20pm. Arrived to homeroom to go to let see where my order was in the queue. At first, the person doing the cashier told me it would take another 30 minutes and after clarifying I already ordered via DoorDash, she told me it would be just 15 minutes. It's been over 45 minutes and my order is still not ready. To make up for the wait, they put out free brownies for customers which I guess makes up for it, but still hungry for my food that I ordered a long time ago. Also it would be nice if employees weren't on their phones while orders were piling up. While the food at homeroom is delicious, I would give this place 2 stars because of how slow it takes for them to get orders out. I would advise those to just eat at homeroom rather than order the take out route. You'll get your food much faster and you won't be waiting as long.

This place is good, but there is a conflict in the way the food looks (delicious) and the way it tastes (good). I was not disappointed, the food is good, but it almost feels that you are going to be taken to mac heaven when you pop the lid off. Unfortunately, the plane never departed. So, while I recommend this place to satisfy a craving or hunger, I advise not to get your hopes up. This location is crowded also. There is plenty parking, you may need to walk a bit.

Love it! Service is very quick usually if you place an online order. Very friendly as well and so many cool Mac's with different add ins. Like it spicy? My mom loves her Elote Mac! She can even turn it into 3 meals! Need something meatier? My cousin and grandma had enough in their BBQ Pork to share! Homeroom hits a homerun! I was on the hunt again for a winter warm-up dish since I'm freezing and the Buffalo Chicken Mac bowl did the job. The Buffalo sauce flavor is robust which I consider a plus. Super creamy and filling. The breadcrumbs and ranch on top take it up a notch. Nice chunks of chicken as well. Placing the order online was quick and my order was ready in 15 minutes. I ended up eating half in the car and saved the rest for dinner, which brings me to the next point (portion sizing). You could totally share it with a friend or split it into two meals. It also reheats well.

Mac 'N Cheese, everyone's favorite comfort food. The other day, I finally got around to trying the Vegan Mac at Homeroom To Go, as it's listed in "Yelp's Vegan Passport." I didn't really care about discounts or free brownies, I honestly just wanted to try the Vegan Buffalo Mac. Mac 'N Cheese isn't very high on my list of diet choices. So when I read somewhere that Vegan Mac 'n Cheese is healthier, I had to try it! So how is it? It's not as creamy as regular Mac 'n Cheese, so it loses that appeal. But it does have a bold and spicy flavor. It's nice that it's not high in carbs or fats. Would I order it again? Maybe. I'm not Vegan, but the Homeroom's Vegan recipe is pretty good.

Homeroom really knows their stuff when it comes to mac and cheese, and this to go location is just perfect for when you're in a crunch for time! Food is delicious, and because it's to go only, comes out very quickly. We waited maybe 10 minutes for 3 orders. The buffalo chicken mac is so good!!! My favorite out of everything I've tried.

My first time here a few months ago. I didn't know they had 2 locations a block from each-other. I ended up walking up to the wrong location the first time. They pointed me in the direction of the correct one however. No biggie! Just a block away. We ordered a Strawberry-Lime Gimlet omg it was so delicious and refreshing I must say! I got the Buffalo Chicken Mac it was different I must say. I wasn't the biggest fan. My boyfriend got the Elote Mac. It was pretty good. Who knew lemon on mac was good? Not me. I would definitely be back to try a different style and get me a different flavor beverage. Staff was also very friendly!

Very tasty! I love the seasonal menu and the fact that you can customize your Mac and cheese-sperience. It was definitely a treat! Very flavorful drinks and the staff was amazing. The QR code and self ordering was ridiculously easy and made my Tuesday dining experience one for the books. I will for surely be back again.

We have been going to Homeroom to go since 2019. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. You can get a large variety of different types of Mac & Cheese. It's a must stop whenever we are in Oakland.

We ended up getting a few orders of garlic mac & cheese to go! Parking was on point and so was the service!

10/26/2021 Wednesday just before 4pm I first heard of Homeroom back in high school around the time when they first opened (2011).. I remember it being pretty hyped around 2011-2012 but I never tried anything from here until today. (I'm one of those ppl that don't follow super hyped things.) I saw that Homeroom was mentioned in Yelp's East Bay Vegan Passport for the month of October. Since I've been eating plant based for several years now and been enjoying vegan food, I decided to try their Vegan Mac. I got it gluten free (I avoid gluten bc of sensitivities to it) and added broccoli. I don't eat regular cheese to begin with.. the Vegan Mac does not have the ooey-gooey cheese that some people may be used to. It didn't have the savory cheese flavor that I remember normal cheese to taste like. I felt like the dish was missing something so later I heated it back up and added some sriracha and nutritional yeast on top. I like that it tasted "lighter" and not heavy like how some comfort food does after eating it. I would give the vegan gluten free version of the Vegan Mac a 3.8 stars.. nothing wrong with the texture of the macaroni, I wonder what kind they use. Would I get it again? Maybe.. maybe I'll try the other flavors they have for the Vegan Mac. I also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Mac for a friend. He let me know that my order would be ready in 10 minutes. The food came out within the mentioned time which was really quick. They packed my v/gf Mac separately from the buffalo chicken Mac. I told the guy that helped me at the register (sorry I didn't get a name) that I wanted to redeem the check-in offer for the v/gf brownie. I also notified him that I did not see the Vegan Mac on their direct website ordering page, only the Buffalo Vegan Mac, so that is why I came in to place the order in person. He was glad that I let him know of that.

I got the cobb salad and it was not the best the bacon was inedible hard as a rock. There was a mystery food item in the salad that I had to put in the trash. I realize this is a mac and cheese place but after getting Mac and cheese at the sit down Homeroom I thought I'd change it up, big mistake. I'll stick to the mac and cheese.

Posting this review mainly to shout out Alfred who is a total asset at Homeroom. He was super friendly and personable, really enjoyed chatting with him while waiting for our food. Ordered the Hawaiian Mac which did not disappoint!

So expensive for fresh Mac and cheese. I opted for the 15 bucks for the sampler, which is still a bit much for some Mac and cheese but it was enough for a test run. I liked the original and the cheddar a lot! It was really tangy and flavorful which was nice, and it lasted me three days to finish everything. I still cannot justify paying 15 dollars though for 6 scoops of cold Mac and cheese. Overall, I'll be back to try out more and to see what else may be good, but unless you're really hurting for Mac and cheese, I would skip.

5 stars for Alfred :) Amazing customer service. He was so nice. Haven't even got my food yet, I'm literally standing here waiting for my order so this review is strictly for him and not even the food lol made the trip from Antioch worth it. The hot dog water was good too lol

Alright this is my 3rd time at this spot, it's very well known and I've been coming around here when im really in the mood to try something new and feel like some comfort food. First time I ordered the Vermont White cheddar, the next time was the pesto, and this time I got the elote version. I'm usually partial to the white cheeses like havarti, goat, swiss, sharp white etc. for some reason and it may have to do with texture more than flavor. I thought the white cheddar would suite me and it was pretty good with bread cunbs on top but I did think it was a bit plain. The pesto one was so creamy I didn't really feel like it was pesto-forward in flavor and just gave off the green color. I may like white cheese and these are filled with cheese in the but they're also very creamy and don't have the cheese texture I love. This last elote one was a winner with my mom, she loved that it was different and I especially enjoyed the corn bits in it. They do have a ton of toppings so I'm always delighted by that. As a sweets person I'm also glad there's more than one or 2 dessert options. I'm sure I'll be back and hopefully some of it will still be there.

We ordered a side caesar, vegan mac, and bacon/garlic mac. Caesar was made with fresh romaine and a yummy house dressing. Vegan mac was creamy, smoky and very satisfying. Bacon garlic mac was decadent, with balanced flavors and perfect bits of crisp bacon. Huge portions, excellent friendly service. Highly recommend!

I was craving some comfort food and heard good things about Homeroom, so I decided to try it. I ordered online for to go, and there was some confusion on which location to pickup from because there's 2 locations in Oakland, with both about a block away from each other on the same street. I ordered during pandemic times but I think Homeroom To Go (the Webster St location) exclusively does all the takeout orders (someone correctly if I'm wrong). Anyway, I ordered the chicken pot pie mac and the bacon mac. Both mac and cheeses are delicious, though I did find that the bacon mac seemed a bit heavier than the other one. The chicken pot pie mac is a bit more unique and had more depth in flavor, whereas the bacon mac was just a higher end, classic mac n cheese with bacon bits. Prices were a bit high for what they were, but portions were decent and I was able to save it for another meal, since it was pretty heavy. Would definitely recommend getting it to go, since parking is difficult to find in the area.

It's Homeroom, need I say more. The purveyors of mac-n-cheese deliciousness. The perfect cheat for a chest day. A full throated, err I mean full belly, "oh yeah!" A take a full bottle of Lactaid and revel in the cheesy goodness kind of goodness. So good that they had to build just a "to go" Homeroom spot. I'm partial to the Gilroy garlic with added grilled chicken and broccoli but I've had all the others and they are friggin tasty-tasty too. By now you are thinking enough with the hyperbole - well ok but NAH! Its worth a 20-30min drive...EACH WAY! So go online, order, then hop in your hoopty and head over and bring a spork (no drips) so you can eat a little or a lot on the drive back home. Ok one negative...parking can be a lil tight at times but just double park in the parking lot behind the building and run in / out (as long as you order ahead. Oh another super positive thing is they are really good at having your order ready at the time they say it'll be ready thus double parking, if you must, isn't such a jerk move).
