18 Spots to Drink Beer and Celebrate Oktoberfest in Metro Detroit

"HOMES Brewery is ringing in Oktoberfest with a New Munich Day celebration beginning at 4 p.m. on Sept. 15 at its campus location. The celebration will include a beer release alongside German-themed food. New Munich Märzen is a dry-hopped Oktoberfest lager with notes of toasty biscuit. There will be a German-inspired food pop-up, grilling in the beer garden, yard games, and frozen drinks." - Courtney Burk

One of my favorite breweries in AA! Their frozen Smooj is probably my favorite thing to get. They have a lovely outdoor space for the summer time. I have not tried their food yet but I will have to next time I stop in!

I love the idea of this place. It's cute and the people who work there seem friendly enough, lots of seating, etc. I say these nice things before plugging a HUGE caveat... do NOT give them your card to hold a tab, or do so to your own potential detriment. I went there with a friend, ordered a drink, opened a tab, went back and got another drink and closed my tab and cashed out. I wish I'd been paying attention, because I signed off on only one drink and then tipped on that and was billed for two additional drinks as well. No big deal, its one drink, I figured I'd reach out and get a refund for the drink and make sure I tipped on the second one that I never apparently signed for. I reach out through Instagram, they tell me the owner's email and insist he'll fix it. I reached out. After over a week he responds that it went to spam. The problematic thing about this statement is that no one is looking back weeks into their spam folder and secondly, my I didn't use a business email, it most definitely did not go to spam. He asks for some card info, and says he'll process the refund.... MUCH, MUCH later, we're like a month in, I just send a quick note that no refund ever went through ( I should have stopped bothering by this point), and then he asks me to check my account and says my bank is why it didn't process... why am I checking my account if you know it didn't process? Add to that my account takes hundreds of payments a year, and I don't get refunds often, but I've gotten them before. The mistake was no big deal, but the SUPER shady interactions that came after solidify both my desire to NEVER go there again AND my desire to share my experience with anyone and everyone. It all feels very YUCKY!

We worked with HOME to host our wedding welcome event. We rented the outdoor space - the venue was great for our needs! Ashley and her team made sure we had everything we needed between table set up, games and more! Our guests enjoyed the beverages and had been looking forward to trying HOMES selections. Thank you again!

Amazing place. Great atmosphere. Outside on a spring day. Crazy good. Ashley is the best ever. She made sure we had a great time.

Aside from just being one of my favorite places in Ann Arbor, Homes Campus/Dozer have been a godsend during the power outages. I can drive up for my latte and breakfast and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. They offer unique and flavorful food for a treat, breakfast or lunch - their donuts and hot bites are exceptional! Their coffee is my favorite in the county, and not surprisingly, their King Cold Brew, flavored with coffee, is one of my all-time preferred craft beers. This is a cozy, happy, aesthetically pleasing place to hang with friends inside or out, as both indoor and outdoor spaces are great.

They were out of food about 90 minutes before they were suppose to close. We were asked to wait while they "checked inventory" then didn't really hear anything. After 20 minutes we asked again and were told they had a couple side items left. Clientel looked super Chad/Karen also. Was not something worth checking out. Luckily the bar just down the road from them was open and really good, or that 35 minute drive would have been super depressing. 2 stars instead of the 1 because the bartender was really nice!

Google
Anyone giving this place anything above a 3/4 is just bonkers. Confusing as heck to figure out where to go as signs are apparently difficult. You will easily spend $35 on a meal with a drink which includes the suggested minimum tip of 25%?! Which is all justifiable if the food was amazing and you had someone serving your food and it just isn’t. Three people ordered the same thing at a table and one person got something missing completely. An attempt to fix it was just fixed wrong. Chicken had zero flavor and was fried way too much. Fries were nothing special. Friend also wasn’t impressed with their vegetarian options. Basic drinks are not cheap either. Ambiance was ok but the chairs are so hard that they expect you to soak in where you are to forget it’s just a basic cafeteria room with basic tables and chairs. I just see no reason to ever go back.

Yelp
Finally made my first trip to Homes. I've been drinking their beers for a while, this was the first time visiting in person and enjoying their food as well. The menu is a great Korean based concept. Everything was delicious We ordered Bulgogi fires, wings, Arincini and a burrito. Everything was fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Love going to Homes for trivia nights on Tuesdays! Mitch is a great host. Ordered many different foods and drinks over the past few years. For food, some real hits: chicken basil fries, chipotle togarashi fries, and the miso brownie (the ice cream has bananas!); meanwhile the egg rolls are hit or miss for me. Drinks are good, and there is plenty of variety. For the non-alcoholic, a little weak. I've had the casomera sodas recently, but wish there was a non/low alcohol smooj. For alcohol, I recommend the "same same different." The smooj is great; I really recommend the apple pie smooj in the Fall. Tropical Trip Smooj is also really good. The vibes are good, but also sometimes a little off. Depends on the crowd. Some patrons are a little rude and it can be hard to get seating. Large groups tend to commandeer the outdoor space, which can make finding a place hard. When it gets full on Tuesdays, sometimes they open up the back room, but it's really hard to hear. The bathrooms are usually pretty clean. Staff are friendly. Nice local place!

Yelp
We love homes! Known for sours and their Asian flare menu... this place doesn't disappoint. Order from the bar and find a seat of your comfort or belly up at the bar, the staff is friendly, attentive and the brews and food are great. I love their IPAs (currently seems to be DIPA heavy) but they have great flavor and their sours are very good as well. We particularly love that they are different from other brewery's with their food menu and love the Asian forward menu! Vibe is great both inside and out when the weather is nice. Parking lot is pretty small so plan to park a block down the street during busy

Yelp
Haven't been in a few months and was happy to see they added some new things to their menu. We did try the Cantonese ribs which were fall off the bone tender and drenched in sauce! Wanted to try some other stuff but can't pass on the fries. Did 1/2 orders as we made a pit stop for chocolates and pastries right before this. As always friendly staff and a good time.

Yelp
I would definitely come back here for drinks. If you're a sour lover, you definitely want to check out this spot! I was extremely excited to try the food, as the menu is creative and has many Asian fusion offerings, however, I was left disappointed. The Thai arancini was good but I wish the chef committed more to the Thai flavors. The rice needed a tad more curry flavor and I wish there was more mint sauce at the bottom. The chicken basil fries were good but also needed some help. There was more chicken than fries when normally you would find yourself in an opposite situation? The chicken was dry and I wish there was more sauce to help cover up the overcooked chicken. The bulgogi burrito was my least favorite, unfortunately. The bulgogi was overcooked and there was waaaay too much rice and once again, hardly any of the sriracha aioli. The food menu is there but the execution needs help, with a few tweaks the food could easily turn from a 3 to a 5. Maybe I just came on an off day?

Yelp
Out of town visiting on a Hallmark holiday and this was the place to go for a relaxed dinner out. Good beer, chill environment, and good space to enjoy a winter evening. We tried their bimbap bowls for dinner. Quite Americanized, but it was a clean and good bowl filled with all the essentials. Egg rolls were decent but the filling kept falling out when trying to dip into the sauce. Overall good pick for us. Nice place for a large group gathering. Good seating both for private groups and communal if you're feeling particularly social. Of course also bar seating as well. It's always nice to enjoy local beers while traveling to a new town.

Yelp
Great food and beers. The bulgogi fries were enough for 2. Preview the menu, then order at the bar. They will bring your food to you

Yelp
First visit to Homes Brewery was a good one. Visited with a group of friends and had a good time. The food was pretty good -- the kimchi fries were a huge hit, though the bibimbap was a bit lackluster (the rice needs to be crispy!). Beer was overall good -- I really enjoyed the Composition 5 and a Smooj (I know it's technically not a beer but wherever), but the Dub Razz was a bit meh. Patio looks cool, and I hope to visit again when it's warmer so we can sit out there.

Yelp
HOMES is amazing. From the beer to the smooj and the food, everything is perfection. I've been here a few times for drinks before and enjoyed the outdoor space, and this time finally tried the food. It was incredible. Truly top tier for a brewery. I'm a beer nerd so leaving those reviews for Untappd, but rest assured you will not be disappointed here!

Yelp
Returned for a hip date night. We sat at the bar and all of the bartenders/ staff were so friendly and attentive. We started with white wine and beer, later my date opted for an herby shot , which apparently is a fave of the regulars. We started with the cucumber pad Thai salad which was perfectly balanced with the fried shallots. Next, the Thai arancini which may possibly be the best app I've ever tried, especially with the creamy mint sauce. The bulgogi burrito was fab and filling Z well, with the Western spin of cheese sauce. This is a great local spot for great , innovative dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
Sat on the patio in the shade and had a Drench, Thai arancini, and bulgogi fries. The beer was great! The bulgogi fries were good as usual, but the star of the show was the Thai Arancini! The Thai arancini were green curry rice balls with sliced jalapeño and mint sauce! Excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
Sat at the bar and grabbed some food and beer. Great IPAs! Careful though some are very strong. Gets busy! Own parking and fills fast. Friendly and warm environment.

Yelp
Cool place. Great atmosphere. Parking is awful but location is good. Not much in that corridor for beer and food, except zingerman's roadhouse. The staff was great. Really friendly and helpful. Only downsides are the parking, and prices. The picture below cost $40 for a glass of sour, and takeout order. The chicken wings are naked, nicely charred with a light sauce. Very good. The green papaya salad was way too foofoo. It has some kind of cream sauce that's spicy, along with a bunch of toppings that make it look so pretty. It's hard to find a proper green papaya salad and this wasn't it. You get GP with hot foods for cooling. Crisp, cold, lime dressing etc. this is creamy, spicy and a whole meal itself. So it was a bit disappointing to want cooling after the wings and a face full of hot and creamy. (Yeah I heard it too) Anyway. The bill was a bit surprising at just under $40 including tip but I'm glad I tried it. Food came out FAST too. Good luck getting a parking spot.

Yelp
There's nothing else really like this concept in Ann Arbor - therefore it is a must try! Homes Brewpub is outfitted into a unique space, with an option for customers to order at the bar, grab drinks, and take a number back to their tables. Most tables are long, bench-style tables that encourage sharing, and they also have some individuals tables towards the back. Their patio has fire pits and is dog-friendly, which is a big plus so we can bring our mini aussies along! Now to the food & drink. We cannot get enough of our beer sections, love to try their new Smooj flavors, and salivate over the asian-fusion menu. Food always comes out hot, and items come out as they are ready (which you may want to know beforehand if you are with a group). My absolute favorites? The Toga Fries (plain fries tossed in togarashi seasoning, ask for aioli on the side), the Gogi Burrito (bulgogi, beer cheese, fries, goodness), the fresh salad option (I recently had a delicious papaya salad), and their Poke Bowl. We went the other night and tried a side of Coconut Ranch with our fries, and I can't stop thinking about it. This our go-to place when we want to "go out" for drink/eat and avoid downtown, want to bring our pups along, or want to meet friends for a brew. Everyone can find something to enjoy on the menu (kids too -- if you scroll down on their online ordering menu, you'll find the 'Secret Menu' with plain wings, fries, etc. as well as some other sauce options!) I can't wait to try the Homes Campus soon which is down the road! I've noticed that they partner with some of my favorite pop-up trucks (Lucha Puerco, Basil Babe, Juicy Oistre... the crew that works with Side Biscuit, York...all of the favorites in town)!

Yelp
What can I say about this please other than how absolutely lovely. The atmosphere and drinks are. The service is absolutely one of the best. The fireplace during the summer is so nice to be around. Surrounded by friends. One of my favorite worries at all time.
google avatar

Sim B.

Yelp
Delicious food with lively, loud ambience. Food came out quickly Seating was easy to find, especially on trivia night - bit tight initially but there's a good amount of seating for groups + outdoor seating when the weather is warmer will be nice
google avatar

Aparna B.

Yelp
Ok so I went to the wrong location when meeting a friend (whoops ) but I do love this place! I'm not even a big beer drinker but I tried the lemon glaze sour and while it was on the sweeter side it was super yummy! Literally like drinking cake! I also tried the other sour the Dub Trop which was super good! This is a great local brewery!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by Homes on a Wednesday night for a mid-week beer and dinner stop. We don't like to self-identify as beer snobs (who does?) but we are kind of picky. The beers at Homes were amazing - super unique and really flavorful. My husband favors IPAs and loved the Force Quit and Wedge. I appreciated their range of sours (especially lactose sours) and couldn't stop raving about the Revel. The food was also great. We got the bulgogi fries and bibimbap with tofu (not pictured because we devoured it so quickly). The portions were generous for two people so we went home with leftovers. Our only complaint was that we wanted more tofu because it was SO good. Their patio was crowded with fellow Midwesterners who were excited about an above-50-degree day but we'll definitely be back soon to try to grab a spot there.
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
Great beer and the food is ok. Counter service is a pain in the ... It's in the minimal effort for maximal profit camp.

Amanda H.

Yelp
Great and unique flavors! The Bibimbap sauce was the right amount of spicy and the veggies were well seasoned but cauliflower was a bit al dente. "A little too much cheese, but tasty & gone" is all the reviewer had to say about the hoagie. The fries were crispy with pesto and a lot of chicken and fresh herbs. Beers are great. Can taste the unique flavor profiles of each pour. Easy to drink, and delicious.
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
I couldn't say enough good things! Atmosphere was perfect, food was phenomenal, and the brews blew me away. Would absolutely recommend Homes to anyone!
google avatar

Mallory R.

Yelp
Great hangout place for after work! I've only tried a few beers but they've all been great. I've had the metaform grape and metaform peach, both delicious and basically juice if you're afraid of beer. I tried the cliff last night and it was good too. The food looks amazing, my friends always get the fries and they rave about them. It can get super busy, so get there early to grab a table if you're a bigger group. I've only been on Thursdays but the line to get beer can get long, can only imagine what it might be like on the weekends. The space itself is nice, there's an outdoor area and a half indoor/outdoor area with long tables. Dogs are only allowed in the outdoor area. The bathrooms are really nice and clean. Parking can be an issue, especially when it's busy so just be prepared to find street parking and walk.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Love. We just love this place. Didn't get food, we came for post dinner night caps.. but the food smelled amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful, the beer-- delicious. The atmosphere was great, and homie points for the garage doors and fire pits to help transition into fall. Plan on coming back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
First timers to Homes Brewery. I didn't expect to find beers at Homes that I would enjoy. They are known for IPA-Sours. I like the occasional sour, but less IPAs. My husband, a craft beer judge (it's an actual thing ) is game to sample most styles of craft beer. I first ordered the Thicc or Treat. Wow! Fruity, with a 'thickness' that felt like a fruit smoothie. Quite good. I next took a sip of my son's Metaform Key Lime- also very good! Last, I sampled my son's Tingle. It was so good I went to get my own 4-ounce pour. My husband's assessment was that Homes makes fabulous IPAs and Ver approachable sours. He recommends the Slide (a double IPA) and a the Eye Wall (a triple IPA). As for atmosphere, we arrived around 6 pm on a football Friday. Crowded already but we were able to snag a spot on the patio by the fire! Thank goodness cuz it was a chilly, crisp evening. The patio was a great place to enjoy our time at Homes. Bring a blanket if you can, for extra warmth. My only complaint was that it was way too loud inside (music blaring from speakers). I'm not a "fuddy-duddy" (but I'm old enough to know what one is). The music was prohibitively loud to having good conversation inside. We observed several others move outside into the cold (I'm guessing for the same reason we did). Nevertheless, the beer is fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to return another time. Perhaps next visit we'll sample the food as well. :)

Yelp
I'm biased here. They specialize in beer styles I love and they pair with excellent Asian inspired food. The vibe is super comfortable and relaxed. Been to Trivia night a few times and it's fun. The outdoor space is great too. Vibrant, upbeat and making excellent beers. Best brewery in Michigan as far as I'm concerned

velma v.

Yelp
Great beer and space inside and out. Always a good time when we meet up there. I like the food too. Staff is helpful selecting what to drink or try .
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
very cute ambiance, excellent music and overall good vibes for a group of friends to hang out. i will say i thought the food menu was kind of interesting - a lot of asian fusion happening but we were a bit scared to try some of them (pad thai cucumber salad??) we ended up ordering the szechuan lime edamame and korean bbq wings. the lime was a great addition to the edamame, korean bbq wings were also good. i asked for a side of ranch for the wings and they only had the coconut ranch which kind of tasted like ranch with coconut milk lol
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
Came back here during a recent visit to Ann Arbor. It's still a fun place to go with great outdoor and indoor open-air seating, some music (a bit loud if you're wary of that) and a fun buzz of conversation. We went for an early dinner on a Saturday and it was busy but not crowded and service was quick. The food was greasier than I remember. The bowl of bulgogi fries was smothered in cheesy sauce (definitely not something you would get in Korea!). My tofu pastrami burrito was tasty but kind of oily and there was much more rice than tofu. The Brussels sprouts Caesar salad was heavily dressed (though the sprouts were a nice take on a Caesar). Finally, my beet salad was actually pretty light but there w as more jicama than beets. Maybe I am misremembering but I felt like the food, although tasty, was more Americanized and greasy than the past.
google avatar

Suraj T.

Yelp
It was a good vibe. Seating is very casual so you may have to squeeze in with other groups but was a great time. I got a regular beer but definitely feel like the specialty beers here are the SMOOj options. Out of all my friends drinks, I thought those were the most unique and fun. I think food wise, you can't go wrong with any of the fries.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Great drinks and food. Full stars because this is not typical bar food. Everything has an Asian twist. Our first two dishes were stellar. The beet salad has a light dressing with puffed rice. The Korean BBQ wings were not spicy at all, and had more of a bulgogi-style marinade with an umami punch. The bulgogi fries was served with an egg. A bit salty but a fun variation. I would skip the pad see ew as it was too salty and dry, and lacked veggies and finesse. I had a pilsner, F....., that would be an elixir for any ailment. Not a huge draft list but enough variety to please everyone. There are two daquiri choices and a soda fountain.
google avatar

Francesca S.

Yelp
This space is a vibe! My husband didn't realize that cauliflower was in the bowl he ordered (he's allergic) and staff replaced it without question. The food was delicious, the beer was amazing, the staff was so sweet- 10/10! Highly recommend visiting this location.
google avatar

Adrienne S.

Yelp
Met up after work & had hard cider and Kimchi fries. Be prepared to share a table with other guests during busier times. It was very loud so we couldn't really hear the conversation next to us. Two small mugs of hot cider with rum & 1 small fry were $40... but the outdoor fire feature was cool.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
We tried Homes on a whim and we were quite pleased with the decision! For starters, the guys really enjoyed the beer...I'm not a drinker so I can't give much of an opinion that, only that they really enjoyed the couple they ordered. I am a huge fan of poutine, so we ordered the Chicken Basil Fries and Bulgogi Fries. They have two sizes and I did the large, which was a really nice amount of food! The flavors were nice and I would definitely order the Chicken Basil again!! The service was good as well, friendly, and patient as I tried to figure out what to order. I will definitely go back to Homes!! Oh, and eating outside was nice as well!!
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
My favorite brewery in the world. I drive 2.5 hours just to get a 4 pack to go. I never knew I loved fruited sours so much until I came here - chonk of the depths was the best beer I've ever had - creamy with vanilla bean notes. Do yourself a favorite and come grab a beer here, you will not regret it. Even the food was fantastic. Bartenders are always very helpful and kind
google avatar

Yelp
Pre-Covid Homes was one of our fave places to grab a bite and beer on their delightful patio. Friends in town? Take em to Homes! Want to get out of the house a bit? Go to Homes! Everything has always been great--food, beverages, ambiance. It's all great! Now, as we're in the thick of the pandemic, we haven't been in person but takeout is easy and safe! They have designated spots outside of the business for carryout. Just place an order online and call when you arrive. Easy peasy! Most recently we got a 6 pack of their blackcurrant pineapple sour IPA and hot damn! It's delicious! I'm typically NOT an IPA gal but this one is spectacular. And the cans are beautiful. I love their packaging so much! For food? My faves are the Korean wings and the burritos are awesome. I also really loved their rice bowls which used to be on the menu but I haven't seen pass through in a while (but I'm not checking every day). So if you find them on there again, I highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
First things first if you're new to Ann Arbor and want to have great time out with classmates or colleagues this is the place to go to! The vibe is amazing once you walk-in, there's a lot of seating available! I came here with some classmates after we did a escape room together and it was the perfect place to cap the night. The drinks were amazing, they are known for their sours! I got the Hurri, and not pictured here is the boozy cider! Both were amazing. My classmates and I shared the sides and those were also great! I highly recommend checking this place out, especially during the upcoming summer time!
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer selection and good cucumber salad. It was spicy, flavorful, and a good serving size for the price. Would order again! This place is perfect for a night out in AA when you want to get away from umich campus

Yelp
HOMES is the cutest place ever located in Ann Arbor, but off campus, so you get all walks of life there and not just students. It's dog-friendly, which is always a plus in my book, and it has parking, which is doubly a plus in my book! It has super cute indoor and outdoor spaces, so it's pandemic-friendly (when indoor dining is allowed again). They have digital menus you look through, and then when you're ready, you get a number and wait for it to pop up on the screen (like at the deli counter in a grocery store) and then go up to place your order! Therefore, there's only like one or two parties placing their orders at any given time! Did I mention that the aesthetic is so CUTE?! Shipping containers upon shipping containers, brewery vats (not sure if that's the technical term), cute ways to carry your beer flights back to the table, etc. And most importantly, THE FOOD IS GOOD! As someone who doesn't drink, this is very important for me :)
google avatar

Abdullah A.

Yelp
We tried to show up a half an hour early for trivia, but had to wait over an hour for a table, and missed trivia entirely. You can order food/drinks from the parking lot but flagging down the server while out there can be hit or miss. We decided to order food once we were seated inside. While the food came out pretty quickly after that, I found it to just be ok. My wife could not eat her fries because they were so over-seasoned and basically inedibly salty. The kimchi fries and wings were ok. Idk that I would come back.
google avatar

Esther C.

Yelp
A surprise find for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed kicking back and grabbing a beer here. They also have what seems to be a Korean inspired menu with bulgogi and kimchi fries. I also heard the wings are bomb. They have a nice large outdoor fire, which gives me bougie camping vibes. Overall a great escape for you to forget you're in Ann Arbor for a little bit. I definitely want to go back.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere and great beverages! Food was great too! Would recommend! Great food and beverages!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place out for quite some time and we finally got around to stopping by! If "WOW" is the only thing being said by all after every bite, you know you found a great spot. The food was way beyond what I ever expected (and I came in knowing they were known for good food)! We got the wings, poke bowl, bulgogi burrito and some beer and everything was fantastic and 100% would order again. Our friends got the gogi fries and chicken burrito and they said the same thing. We will definitely be adding this to our list of regulars. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here!

Yelp
First review of 2020 goes to updating my review for Homes for their NYE Tiki Party!! About a week out, we still didn't have plans so when I came across the event on Facebook, we sprung for it! My husband and I can't resist a good tiki party. For $75 a ticket, it included: 3-course buffet, 2 drink tickets. The food was Homes quality. I also liked that they spaced it out -- 8pm for apps, 9pm for entrees and 11pm for dessert! SNACKS * Miso Deviled Eggs - Not very miso-forward but a solid deviled egg! They also had a version without bacon. * Togarashi Pork Rinds - As I mentioned in my previous review, I love Homes' togarashi fries! Their pork rinds are no exception. This totally needs to be on the menu! * Hawaiian Trail Mix - the spiced fruit bits were interesting. I think my standards are just high because I've had homemade japanese chex mix. APPS: * Shrimp Cocktail - Loved the wasabi cocktail sauce that camewith this! * Tuna Poke Tacos - These were AWESOME. Served in a taro shell. They were nicely filled and the poke seemed pretty fresh! * Tempura Sweet Potato Skewers - these were surprisingly good! I didn't try the awesome sauce it was served with as I thought it was pretty good on its own. * Tiki Wings - No complaints! I appreciated that it wasn't dripping in sauce but still had good flavor. MAIN: * Hawaiian Sweet Roll Slider Trio -- solid execution! *Fish Stick Slider - This was my husband's favorite because he said it reminded him of Filet o' Fish. *Kalua Pork Slider - Very fatty pork bits as it should be with kalua pork. *Vegetarian Loco Moco Slider - Awesome flavors on this. If you didn't tell me that it was veggie gravy, I wouldn't be able to tell. DESSERTS * Blank Slate Baked Alaska - this was awesome!!! It had ube and matcha ice cream & the meringue was beautiful. Super impressed. * Hawaiian Jello Mold - Honestly, I didn't try this. It was pretty though! * Pineapple Upside Down Cake - There was an interesting smoky aspect to this! I was also really impressed by the DJ, Prophet Ecks, who is a turntablist! I was impressed by the boxes and boxes of vinyl. The energy and atmosphere was fun enough for us to make it to midnight. All the folks working were GREAT too -- seemed like they were having fun/actually wanted to be there! They also did a fantastic job of coming around to clean up. We'd definitely go again!

Yelp
The food is dynamite! Just get the kimchi fries- you have to, okay! It's more of a casual, walk up and order yourself vibe which we don't mind but others may. The beers are great and the fire pits are a nice touch outside. Great place to meet up with friends or a date night out.

Yelp
Stopped by Homes for a quick beer after a wonderful day hanging out in Ann Arbor. What a stellar find! Love the open air seating and overall vibe. My friendly beertender made a great recommendation for the Shades IPA "soft citrusy and dank" per menu. Loved it! The food constantly parading past me looked amazing. I plan to return soon for the Bulgogi fries and to sample more of their intriguing brews.

Yelp
Homes is one of my favorite spots in Ann Arbor. It is just far away from downtown that it has a great local scene and feels pretty removed from undergrads. They always have a great rotating menu of beers on tap at a pretty affordable price. The indoor/outdoor seating works great for both the warmer and colder months. There food is always very good and better than your typically brewery food. I always get a rice bowl and share an order of fries for the table. This is a great spot to grab a drink after work or get dinner with friends on the weekend. I love the atheistic of the space and is a great local Ann Arbor hangout.

Yelp
THE place for a fun date night or to take out of town guests. You can't beat the drinks + the food. The overall ambience is fun and open. It has a bit of a warehouse feel to it. And did I mention you can bring DOGS? Huge plus in my book. The food is unique and phenomenal. It's not an expansive menu but they do what they have really well! My husband loves the poke bowl while I'm a huge fan of the pad see ew. I need to try the kimchi or bulgogi fries still! And the drinks are exceptional. Everyone in this area has probably heard about the smooj and it is deeeelicious. There's a frozen option you can get at the actual location but I'm a bigger fan of just the can. They add additional alcohol into the slushie ones and I don't think it needs it. Their beers are great too if you're looking for something not as sweet. And the staff are all very friendly. Don't miss this place if you're in the Ann Arbor area!

Yelp
A must try in Ann Arbor! My sister takes all of her guests here when she visits since it's such a crowd pleaser, and we certainly were pleased! I had been before on a previous visit to AA, but fiancee had never been. We stopped by on a Saturday evening ~6:30PM, and it was definitely busy! Luckily, with their open seating arrangement, we were able to snag a few seats at the end of a table outdoors, which was clutch. The ambience at Homes is typical of any brewery - large outdoor seating area with a similarly sized large indoor area and lots of open space. Very modern yet industrial vibes. We ordered our food and beers inside at the bar; our beers were poured right away and our food was brought to us at our seats relatively quickly for the size of the crowd. In terms of the good stuff...my fiancee and I both opted for flights (you can order basically any of their drafts as 4 oz pours). I focused on the sours, whereas he focused on the IPAs. In my opinion, the sours are the way to go at Homes! My favorite was the cynosure - it was so smooth and the flavors of raspberry, blueberry, and lemon perfectly meshed with the hints of vanilla. An awesome summer beer! I also really enjoyed the king cold brew - I was expecting a dark, heavy beer but was pleasantly surprised with the light colored, very refreshing take on a coffee-based beer. Well done! My fiancee really enjoyed all his IPAs, favoring the same same different over all the others. As she was the DD, my sister just went for the blurb sherbert, which she loved and was impressed by the marriage of the blueberry and basil into a refreshing beer. In terms of food, what makes Homes so cool is it's focus on Korean-style food, a very unassuming match for their beer selections! My sister and I both went for for the tuna poke, which was very nice. I loved the inclusion of roasted pineapple as it gave a sweet vibe to the dish - I only wish there was more pineapple to really bring out the flavors. The tuna was decent quality - I've had better cuts, but given that it's a brewery first with a restaurant, the caliber was totally appropriate. My fiancee got the kimchi fries with the bulgogi burrito, and he was still talking about both a week later! He loved the spice in the fries and the unique inclusion of bacon, and he loved that the burrito also had fries in it. Outside of the carb overload, he really did enjoy the flavors that melded together in both dishes. We all really enjoyed our meals, and the accompanying beer was the cherry on top. Overall, we loved our recent visit to Homes and we will 100% be back during our next visit! We were raving about the beers and food to all our Philly friends, and we are still thinking about our experience. Thanks for a fun and tasty addition to our recent AA trip, Homes!

Yelp
Wear a mask when entering & up from the table. Hand sanitizer available at check in podium. Raise pink card when ready to order. Remember table number when allowed to go to bar to order. Bibimbap w/ bulgogi: (seasoned veggie) Tomatoes were delicious, egg was runny, sauce was really good

Yelp
Homes is my go-to for great drinks, amazing food, and a great environment! The outdoor seating area is so nice and is really just a great place to gather with friends. Pros: nice servers, fantastic food, fun drink options, great ambience Cons: the location is a little random and a little far from the Ann Arbor downtown area Their bulgogi fries and togarashi fries are phenomenal!
