Homeslice Pizza Shoreditch Review - Shoreditch - London - The Infatuation

"Your difficult friend Becks is visiting from Earlsfield, but you want to be sure to get a good meal while avoiding an evening of bitching and moaning about ‘challenging’ ethnic food and small portions. Take them to Homeslice, a Valhalla for anyone who loves pizza, and let the sweet taste of red sauce and mozzarella wash over you like that one time you went to The Berkeley and got a neck massage. The pizzas are pricey but they’re huge, and you can get them by the slice if you’re indecisive or not super hungry. The drinks list is short and sweet, but they have prosecco on tap, which makes up for it." - David Paw

Google
Never had such a huge pizza previously, thin and delicious. The dairy 4 cheese was so good, love the blue cheese flavour and some feta on the top. The other half spiced lamb with cabbage was also nice, although never had such kind of labour before. Also fond of the interior, simple but conveniently designed. The songs played were happen to be all from the 90th, which I loved a lot.

This place was recommended to me by someone and though I was apprehensive about a £20 pizza, I agreed to pay a visit for a get together with friends. The place has the interiors that remind you of the past with its lights, furniture and woodwork. Friendly and efficient staff took good care of us throughout the time we were there even though the place got busy. When the pizza's finally arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by its size - it is big! You can have it by slice, half and half of two different varieties of pizza or one whole pizza of a single type. My personal favourite is the spiced lamb pizza - it was amazing, especially with a bit of chilly oil! The four cheese and cauliflower shawarma pizza's are good as well. The dough was soft and tasted yum. Cutting slices off the huge circle of yumminess was a fun activity. They can make the same pizza's vegan if required.

Google
AMAZING pizza! Thin and crispy base with tasty toppings. Pizzas are huge (20in) and cost about £24. Make sure you book as it gets really busy. Service was a bit slow but we went there on a Saturday evening.

Google
We absolutely LOVED the pizza here. More NY style with very interesting flavour combos. We did half half and tried the mushroom & pumpkin one. While we usually love our salami pizzas, the mushroom was one by far one of the best slices we've ever had - I get cravings for it still! Service was very attentive and quick. Highly recommend getting a pie between 3 people or 2 very hungry people.

Google
These pizzas are absolutely huge I was gobsmacked! Pretty good value for the price, you’ll definitely leave feeling satisfied. Inside can get pretty warm due to the wood oven pizza oven so if you’re visiting in the middle of a British heat wave then you’ll be better off sitting outside. They could also do with adding a larger quantity of toppings to the pizza some parts of the pizza looked a little barren from lack of ingredients #BeatTheGrind

Google
We enjoyed a half and half pizza. The great thing about this location is it has a vegan menu option. Pizzas are full of flavour, with a very thin base.

Google
Great pizzas, big size and thin crust. Don't be daunted by the size, one pizza is just right for two hungry people. You can also select to have half and half and I recommend this since our allows you to try more of the options. The place also has a nice shall back garden for the got summer days.

Google
Hands down one of the best pizza places in London. Pizza is available for dine-in and take away. There is a large seating area, however, recommend making a booking on the weekend as it does get quite busy. We got half Salami and half mushroom and they were both delicious! One pizza is enough for two hungry people or three searching for a lighter meal. The staff was very friendly and the service was outstanding.

Yelp
I went there with my girlfriend without reservation, they told us we had to wait an hour to sit. However we got in after 5 minutes. It was very quick to order but it took us more than 1 hour to be served. Although it was a very long time the environment was so good that it helped us to wait, the music is great. The restaurant was not full and that's why I don't understand the long wait. We ordered half a margherita and half a mushroom pizza, both vegan option. It was delicious, it had unique flavours and the (not too much) spicy olive oil they gave us to put made the pizza even better. The pizzas are huge! But 2 people can eat 1 pizza so don't be shy when ordering

Yelp
Had a great evening at Homeslice. Pizza's are large and space is limited. Order in stages or it simply is an unmanageable situation. We had the salami, rocket and parm. It did not disappoint.

Yelp
Wow. I was really impressed with this place. Came as a group of 5, got seated right away even though they were super busy. Ordered 2 pizzas 4 differente flavours (half and half). Every single one was good - increcible doughy crust on the edges thin in the middle. Nice Aperol spritz to help it all down and free bottle of water when you sit down. Plus: mood lighting (which explains the awful quality of the picture - sorry!) A great place for a relaxed, simple meal!

Yelp
Creative pizzas! They do have classic but the more inventive ones are the best. Loved the sweet corn based with chorizo and the mushroom one! The 20 inches formula is great when you get together with friends or family. The cons is that its quite dark and their pizza are quite messy to eat but what a pleasure to eat them! I would go back anytime!
google avatar

Yelp
One inch for One pound! Yep that's no joke. £20 for a 20 inch pizza, filled with the freshest ingredients you can imagine. Great for a quick stop off when you don't want to wait around. I admit, it's messy to eat but also great fun at the same time! Me and my 2 friends Danielle and Shada shared a Aubergine, Cauliflower cheese, Spinach and Harissa big pizza between us. It was very hard to cut but nevertheless, least we can get some mega slices from them! With a simple menu filled with great choice, home slice excels not only for a quick dinner, but also a great lunch spot as well with £4 a slice to takeaway. Would visit again

Yelp
Meh! Not impressed and not worth the £4 per slice. Not a terrible slice but not as great as many reviewers have stated.

Yelp
Having visited the two other Homeslice branches I felt it was only necessary to check if a hat trick can be scored. Wanting to really teat them I asked for a split pizza with two lightly flavoured options asking the guys to kindly put less cheese on both (i dont like much cheese on a pizza): The Chorizo/corn/coriander was very light (since there was much less cheese) and crispy emphasising Homeslices excellent salty dough - crispy base with chewy sides. This was complimented by the pungency of the coriander with occasional chorizo accent. Second half was also rather delicate - aubergines and spinach on a backdrop of cauliflower cheese (the guys made the layer thinner for me as well) with swathes of punchy harissa paste. The rationale behind these details is to explain why all three branches of Homeslice received top marks from me. Dough is always great and as far as Im concerned can stand on its own. The flavour combinations are interesting and thoughtful, toppings always fresh and delicious. To accompany that the staff is responsive and actually pays attention when I ask for advice while choosing or nag them about putting less cheese on a cheese-based pizza.

Yelp
Love Homeslice. I used to work very close to the Covent Garden venue but didn't go often as the queue (an hour plus on most nights) was too long to wait. So very happy they have the much larger Old Street location now! The pizza is cheap and delicious. I'm going to recommend it a lot more now :)

Yelp
Don't mind if I do! Great pizzas! Make sure to make one half and half and share it :) pizza is perfect for 2 people if ur hungry. We split the pizza on the mushroom one and the 4 provision cheese!

Yelp
My wife and I came by for a pizza tonight at 8 PM. Despite there being empty tables we were told we could not have a table for two. So instead we ordered the wagyu beef pizza to go. We were told it would take 20 minutes. After 30 minutes the pizza still had not even been started. 10-minutes later we were given a pizza to go. When we got home we opened the pizza. We found a pizza full of burn spots and 6 small pieces of wagyu beef. Having had the pizza before, we know this was not normal. In fact, all of the toppings were sparse to the point we pulled stuff from the fridge to add to make it a real meal. Not sure if our pizza was the cook's way of telling us off for complaining about how long it took, but a shockingly bad experience all around. We have no intention of going to Homeslice again. Too many other places to go and £30 for a burnt cracker is absurd.

Yelp
Best NY style pizza in London by far.

Yelp
I have finally tasted Homeslice and it was every bit as good as I expected. First, the pizzas are BIG. Like really big. Like, so big they take up your whole table big. I regret not taking a photo, but I didn't have time to do so before we began devouring the enormous pizzas laid out in front of us. There were 9 of us so we got a good mix of the menu - oxtail! goat shoulder! salami! caprese! oh my! My favourite though was the mushroom, ricotta, pumpkin seeds and chilli. It was a literal field of mushrooms and it was delicious.

Yelp
Maybe it was the company but this was a great meal. It might feel a bit gimmicky with the giant bottle of "pay-as-you-go" wine and huge strange-sounding pizzas but the flavors were delicious and the servers were really nice and upbeat. Cocktails looked interesting too. The pizza isn't so big if you share (I still tell myself...)! I haven't been to the other locations - this one was super busy. We were there late (past 8:30pm) but still had to wait which was fine. We popped over to the pub for a quick drink and came back. The restaurant is even bigger inside than it looks. Definitely worth the wait (I rarely say this).

Yelp
In my opinion, Homeslice is the best pizza restaurant around. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I have tried quite a few of the pizzarias around, ranging from the grand-daddy Franco Manca himself to others which started off as street vendors such as the arguably more famous Pizza Pilgrims. Oh, and I also attended the London Pizza Festival this year, if that helps to boost my credentials just that little bit. ;) The great things about Homeslice are the size of their pizzas, their wide and interesting range of pizzas on offer, and, of course, the pay-as-you-go wine option, where you pay by the inch of wine consumed. Their menu changes fairly regularly, I believe, and I can't say whether the pizzas I have tried are still on the menu at the time you are reading this, but here goes anyway. The first pizza I can remember trying here is the goat shoulder pizza - an unusual option, as goat isn't widely used in many restaurants here, I find - and enjoyed it. My favourite, however, has got to be the Aubergine, Cauliflower Cheese, Spinach & Harissa pizza, which I had on a subsequent visit. I wouldn't have thought a non-tomato, vegetarian pizza could be that tasty but it is. The crust is nice and thin, not too overpowering and doughy. Yes, I am one of those annoying people who will cut off the crust and leave it behind if it gets too much for me. The staff here have always been friendly and cheerful, which adds to the great atmosphere of this place.

Yelp
I really like this place if i am going with a group. They do sell pizza by slice but I am not a big fan of that because I think the price isn't great. However it will be perfect for going in as a group. The pizza is honestly massive and they taste great. We have tried 3-4 different flavours and we like all of them. Good environment too.

Yelp
Fair to say that it was the best pizza I have ever had in a long long time. £20 for 20" of sloppy sexy. Great atmosphere and friendly waiting staff. I shared the goat shoulder pizza with a mate, and had kale and sumac yoghurt which was delicious. 'Pay as you go' wine option is good too. I'd recommend Homeslice to anyone who loves good sloppy pizza.

Yelp
We ordered a Margherita pizza that was absolutely delicious! The pizza was so big and we ate almost all of it. I'd say perfect for two people. It came out within 10 minutes of ordering. The dough was soft and chewy and they also have a spicy oil that you can add to it. We also ordered a beer and a kiwi mojito which was also yummy! Highly recommended and in a cute part of Shoreditch.

Yelp
Very good pizza, what a pity that they haven't got any dessert... I liked the atmosphere and the waiter, who was very kind and friendly. The prices are honesty, the pizzas have a really big size. I'll go here again for sure!
google avatar

Chloe A.

Yelp
Pizzas are huge and for a decent price but the dough is very thin and hard to hold. Not very much of a drink selection
google avatar

Leo F.

Yelp
Definitely the best pizza in London. Treat yourself with two to three slices or order one of their huge pizzas if your there with more people. You really can't go wrong with this place!
google avatar

Aakriti J.

Yelp
I usually always go to the homeslice in Neal's yard but we were in the area and decided to try this one out. One main difference is the drinks: they have a full bar here and it's super cute and super delicious ! (Kiwi mojito anyone??) definitely a fan ^^

Yelp
Don't fear just head into this darkness and enjoy some real delicious pizza. Don't be a coward though, go for the crazy ones, although their margarita is well worth the money. I had a pizza with garlic sauce and pumpkinseeds (& obviously way more stuff) that was incredible!!
google avatar

Ceren K.

Yelp
I've only come here for take aways but the pizza is quite good, although waiting times can be longer and the staff can sometimes (because of the rush) forget your order. They make it up with good chat in the interim, and of course the pizza is tasty!
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Very good slices of pizza! It's high quality toppings but my only concern was that they all come dripping in oil, I think they pour a bunch of olive oil on top which makes it more moist but I could have had just a drizzle instead of puddles of oil. I had a margarita and salami, rocket and Parmesan slice, both were good but the salami slice was better because it has more toppings on it. Really fresh ingredients too.

Yelp
A homeslice pizza is still as good as when the boys used to do the travelling pizza oven. This restaurant feels really spacious and the tiled floor is amazing. Also love the bathroom. As stated the pizza was to their top standard and tonight we tried 4 different toppings - goat & yoghurt, chorizo, mushroom & pumpkin seed, broccoli & pumpkin. All so so tasty. Their toppings always go so nicely together...they may sound strange but really you won't be disappointed with whatever you choose.

Andy M.

Yelp
I love the food, the pizzas are huge, taste amazing and great for sharing. But the service was really bad. We were given a table downstairs, waitresses were buzzing around us but none seemed to have responsibility for our table. I had to get up and walk to the bar to ask if we could order... and the same again to ask for the bill. I would go back again for the pizza...but maybe get take away.

Constantine P.

Yelp
Worst customer experience ever. We were seated at the table hoping to order a couple of non dairy slices of pizza , since we weren't that hungry...We were kind of forced to order a whole pizza which is massive ( feeds 4 people) . So we asked if they could make any exceptions due to the fact that we were dairy intolerant - and the basically said no, sorry, can't help you. We got up and left. Definitely need some basic training on customer service.
