What a gem! From great food to friendly service and a very cozy atmosphere - we loved our lunch date here! I’m not usually a tuna fan but the old man & the sea was mind blowing. Such a fun take on tuna with the cilantro and pickles. We also got the turkey town and it made my mouth water! It was pressed to perfection and the sourdough was so good. We also got coffees and they were great - I’m picky about my lattes and well the honey graham one was perfect. Definitely recommend this spot. Parking was easy too, we found a spot right out front. I can’t wait to go back!

The coffee was good - if you enjoy it served with a side of existential dread and passive aggression. Now, the avocado toast. A masterpiece of restraint. A toast wearing avocado as a mere suggestion. I’ve seen thicker layers of lip balm. It was a minimalist interpretation of breakfast - one that made me wonder if avocados had gone extinct overnight. And as for the “roasted red peppers” promised on the menu? False advertising at its finest. I scoured that toast like an archaeologist. All I found was a tragic sprinkle of chili flakes - lonely, misplaced, and doing their best. By the time I left, I wasn’t full - but I was filled with questions. Mostly: how dare they? Two stars for the coffee, and one for the sheer audacity and the culinary gaslight.

Lovely place, great food and lates. They also make phenomenal house made syrups if that is your thing! Love this place

Google
Nice local cafe with variety of options. Vietnamese iced coffee was good and the Taj Mahal sandwich was a very interesting mix of curry and egg. A bit pricey for what it is but I’d come back again.

Google
Cute bakery on the corner of Dorchester Ave. There is plenty of seating inside, including a long dining table in the center for you to chat with strangers if you want to. The person working at the front was very sweet and walked me through the different pastries. I went at opening, so everything was still available. I settled on the pecan cranberry scone. To be honest, I did not enjoy it that much because it was too dry, but the cranberry bits were nice, and it did taste a bit better once I heated it up. The portion size was also decent. I want to give this bakery another chance and try a different pastry.

Google
This spot has some solid, delicious, unique, and well-curated sandwiches. The taj mahal sandwich has some of the best egg salad fillings I've ever tasted and the turkey town pressed panini was perfectly toasted —yet soft, and very flavorful. I'm not much of a coffee person but my partner is a coffee snob and thought that their brown sugar latte was delicious, which is not to be taken lightly from her. We'll definitely come back when we're in the area to try more slapping sandwiches (and coffee for her).

I had an “Old Man & The Sea” sandwich: tuna salad, avocado, arugula, cilantro, and sriracha mayo. It was quite tasty, and the pickles…dear salt-loving, zebra friends, the pickles here are FANTASTIC!!! I had mine on a sesame bagel this time, and I wouldn’t do that again. The texture was off (toasting it would help, but the bagel was crumblier and gummier than the NY style bagels I like). The strawberry almond bars and chocolate chip cookies are okay. I like the distinct taste of butter (as a lot of pastries use more processed oil-based items), and the cookie didn’t taste like butter to me, so I wouldn’t get again. They use MEM tea, which is my favorite, and I enjoyed the Japanese Sencha (SO tasty). They also have a La Marzoco for all you coffee lovers, and every kind of sweetener: from raw honey and stevia to Splenda to cane sugar. The cafe isn’t cheap, but it does have a sprawling space for the area, with comfy padded chairs or bar stools or hard chairs, board games, and a reading nook with art for sale. Fully accessible cafe and restrooms.

Google
This place is AWESOME! Best bakery I’ve been to in the whole state, and it was just close to my house, the whole time! The food is delicious and fresh, their chocolate cookie chips are awesome. And their hot chocolate? It is better than the Starbucks one and way more cheaper. I ended up staying there for about 2 hours on my day off, I was so comfortable that I didn’t notice the time and yet, no employee made me feel that “you got to leave”. Nope, the employees were naturally nice and friendly. Many people were having different conversations in the bakery, some seemed to talk business and some, school. Oh and, when I left the bakery I forgot something I bought to go, one employee went out, called me in the street holding my cake in the hand. So nice of her considering how the cake tasted so good! I’m so surprised with the place I discovered, especially considering the really affordable prices. I’ll definitely be going back.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, pastries and sandwiches here! The tuna melt is the best I've had in Boston. I lived so close I would get a cappuccino and banana muffin EVERY weekend, sometimes twice! Great atmosphere inside and the staff are always friendly!

Yelp
I cannot believe I didn't try this place sooner. A gem! The Turf Bagel Sandwich was delicious! I also had my first ever Vietnamese Coffee (prompted by a co-worker's suggestion). I honestly never had a coffee like this before. Best way to describe it other than delicious is it's like a light roast espresso, I didn't need to add anything to it. Warning: I think I'm going to be up for 24 hours now. Very nice atmosphere inside. I see this would be a great meeting spot either socially or to talk business. Parking may be tricky but it's well worth walking a few blocks.

Yelp
This spot is a quintessential neighborhood cafe that offers great coffee and a wonderful communal space to work and gather. The iced coffee was smooth and refreshing and the house made lavender syrup I added was so good. I also tried their pao de queijo which is a Brazilian cheese bread and tastes like a cheese scone. Highly recommend. The ambience was very welcoming and lively as the cafe is located in a busy intersection. Lots of natural lighting which I enjoyed. I was able to get some work done here since they had wifi and tables to spread out. Limited outlets and a bit noisy for calls though. For parking I found a nearby side street. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I visited homestead on 2 occasions on this trip, some of the things I tasted are: cheddar scallion scone, pecan cranberry scone, plain bagel with cream cheese lox and avocado, orange cinnamon iced tea, sparkling ginger lemonade, chocolate chip cookie, chai latte and the turkey town panini. Family hates eating with me but I'm paying, so I get a taste. Almost everything is made on-site. I loved everything I tasted and think everyone should give them a try. If I had another day we would go back and taste some more things. A special shout out regarding the lox bagel which is probably the best value in the country

Yelp
This quaint bakery, located in Dorchester, is a quiet , relaxing space with excellent coffee and an assortment of on-site baked goods and sandwiches. I ordered a grilled cheese panini, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It has a calm vibe. Parking is on street only. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
Love having this cafe in Fields Corner! Lots of cozy seating and a very chill and welcoming ambiance. I definitely recommend it if you need a study spot. The food is great and service is personable and timely. You order at the counter and they have a variety of sandwiches (which can also be served as salads) and a few baked goods behind the counter. My favorite sandwiches are the little chickpea (smashed chickpeas and avocado) abd the Brie happy (Brie and apple). I went with my friend most recently and she got the Malibu melt (tuna and cheddar) and loved it, although she didn't rave about the chai latte. We also shared a chocolate chip cookie for dessert which was nice and soft on the inside but still chewy around the edges. All in all very good! Also just a wonderful business in general that cares about the Fields Corner neighborhood and giving back. I highly recommend home.stead!

Yelp
Went there a few weeks ago on the weekend before the holiday with my daughter. She introduced me to the place. Nice addition to an area that is going through revitalization. Sandwiches (breakfast & lunch) with multiple beverage (hot & cold) options. I got a bagel sandwich with crispy prosciutto that was tasty. The addition of a sliced boiled egg vs a cooked one wasn't bad. Shabby chic interior. Patrons matched the vibe. Check it out if you are ever in the area.

Yelp
Amazing! After working for a coffee company for nearly 9 years, I can confidently say that Fern makes the best latte I've ever had! Food was a seven out of 10 and the ambience was an eight out of 10 but thanks to Fern's vanilla latte I would rate this place 10 out of 10 and definitely recommend it to anyone!

Yelp
This café is fabulous. This is what comes to mind when you think of what a neighborhood corner bakery/Café should be. Clean. Friendly. Fantastic homemade treats. The Turf bagel sandwich with salmon on whole wheat toasted bread... Fantastic! A nicely toasted sandwich with smoked salmon, avocado, mayo, cream cheese, arugula and cilantro. You could stop right there but there's more. Also got a couple of muffins, blueberry and banana. Both of them warm both of them super. Wanted something light to drink so I went with the sparkling lemonade... A winner. Nice lemonade taste with a sparkling kick. Vegan options avail.

Yelp
It's a comforting setting right in the middle of Fields Corner. The cookie I got was delicious. I got an iced mocha for myself and a vanilla maple latte for a loved one. I loved my latte but had to add more simple syrup to it as it's a dark chocolate syrup. Service was great even though it was quite busy. The only thing I wish was different was the prices. It was $7.25 for a large iced mocha which I think is too much and $7.75 for a large iced vanilla maple latte. I think getting lattes from here will be a special occasion thing due to the price, but again, it was delicious.

Yelp
This place is so cute! Felt very cozy. I ordered an iced lavender latte (if a place has lavender as a flavor it automatically elevates it IMHO lol), an everything bagel with cream cheese, a pumpkin muffin for my mom, and a chocolate chip cookie for my brother. Everything was high quality and delicious. The service was friendly and quick. I would definitely recommend this cafe if you're in the area :)

Maya T.

Yelp
I am a local and have been coming here forever. My go to is the Malibu melt panini. I ordered today and they DRASTICALLY had gotten smaller. This is a child's size panini.... For $12.99?!?! I will give them one more chance after today.. assuming they ran out of regular size bread. Very disappointed for the size and how much I paid. Please fix this. Sincerely, a local.

Yelp
Came out of my Yelp hiatus because of how charming this cafe is! Worked from here and the staff, atmosphere, and food are excellent. One of the best tuna sandwiches I've ever had and the mocha latte was one of the most beautiful & aesthetically pleasing coffees I've ever had. I think prices were very reasonable too considering the quality of the food. If I lived in this area I'd be here all the time!

My ..

Yelp
Definitely a great place to study/work. A memorable note is that there was an incident where I assumed a mentally ill homeless person enter the shop and the staff dealt with them in a compassionate way. Despite the homeless person aggression and incoherent communication the staff was firm yet kind. As someone who was a homeless youth this means a lot to me. If you are looking for a good place to get food or coffee and experience great service I highly recommend this place. Note: the cold brew was perfect as well!

Yelp
Very cute, casual spot for breakfast! Came a little after 10am on a Saturday and didn't have trouble getting a seat for two of us. There wasn't a line, and service was super friendly. It seemed like a lot of pastries were already gone, but I was able to snag a raspberry almond tart, which I would definitely get again. I also got an iced chai latte with oat milk, which I enjoyed. They ask if you want it for here or to-go, and I said for here without realizing they'd serve it in a glass cup, and not a takeout cup. My mistake, but it was a good excuse to sit a while longer while finishing my drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a homey and cozy spot!! I've been meaning to come to this cafe for a while, and so glad I finally got the chance for this Dorchester gem. It's also T accessible!! I got a hot cappuccino with oat milk and vanilla flavoring and it was DELICIOUS. I wasn't too hungry so I didn't get any food, but they have an amazing selection of pastries as well as sandwiches and such. I'll have to be back for a sandwich next time! The staff was also friendly which made my first visit welcoming. Great spot to get some work done or just to chit chat. I'll be back!!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Limited baked goods and not a ton of options but we got the blueberry muffin, a scone and a pao de queso (Brazilian small cheese ball bread) and they were tasty. Small cafe but cute seating and I think this was in the middle of little Vietnam.
google avatar

Reggie W.

Yelp
THE BELGIAN WAFFLES HIT HERE!!! I ordered the Belgian waffles and they come in a pair with strawberries, blueberries, whip cream and maple syrup. I was throughly satisfied with how soft and tasty they were. I was left wanting more. At only $7.50 you can't go wrong! I also had the cheese bread, but it was too rich for me. My friend enjoyed them and I'm my tastebuds are innately contrarian so I believe its me not the bread. Would come back here again and again just for the waffles!
google avatar

Maddie R.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I don't leave negative reviews often. But a few things considered I have to mention it. The eggs on the breakfast sandwich are hard boiled, nothing on the menu Indicates that would be the case, I found that odd. Secondly the bagel the sandwich was on was simply a Costco or Thomas bagel, not made fresh as the website states. If you're charging $12+ for a breakfast sandwich, it better be good. The pastry and coffee I were good but this place is expensive for not quality food. $40 got me an iced coffee, two sandwiches, and a pastry. I won't be back as I wasn't impressed.
google avatar

Yelp
Close to Fields Corner T station. Fantastic Norwegian smoked salmon sandwich. There are sandwiches, hot teas, coffees, and baked goods. I always visit here if I am in the neighborhood here. I will return for the hot Norwegian smoked salmon.

Jane R.

Yelp
Casual cafe with good brunch food and friendly staff. Small tables and counter ordering. Convenient to Fields Corner MBTA station.

Yelp
Coffee and a breakfast burrito and an hour of wifi at this cute local cafe. The burrito was delicious and well stuffed but after watching the young lady behind the counter putting the icing on some cinnamon buns, I was having second thoughts about my choice. Coffee was good and rich. It's a neat little spot and they do a good morning business. [Review 9855 of 2018, 1433 of 2018.]

Yelp
Stunningly good. The Vietnamese iced coffee was amazing. The scone was huge and delicious. The service was sweet. The decor was beautiful. I was headed to the Cape Cod Chips factory tour which turned out to be a fantastic waste of time so the afternoon was aggravating. But the day started off delightfully.

Yelp
I love it here!! It's such an unassuming little hole in the wall. My lox bagel was sooo good and the coffee was delicious as well. I really enjoyed sitting in the window and people watching. I can't wait to try more of the menu!

Mr S.

Yelp
Its quiet Dont get the breakfast burrito or iced tea or arnold palmer Get the turkey sandwich. Be prepared to not be full- small portions
google avatar

Yelp
The vietnamese coffee here is great as well as the breakfast scones they have (look sketchy but are actually amazing). The people who work here sometimes look a little stressed out which is no fault of their own, but i think it interferes with customer service a little bit. Overall a very nice team, with good food/drinks. Not the cheapest place but i would say prices are worth it.
google avatar

Hilary D.

Yelp
Lovely space, friendly staff, and terrific food. The turf bagel sandwich (add prosciutto!) is my favorite. There is always a nice variety of tasty baked goods, with some new options popping up all the time - I just had the new 'amore latte' which was a delicious raspberry-mocha combo, and I hope it becomes a permanent offering.

Yelp
Having had some business to attend to nearby, I came here to try a baked good or two, seeing the overwhelming positive reviews this place has. I'm a sucker for bakeries, so I can be convinced to try it again. Maybe I should just try a sandwich though, because the baked goods (or at least one thing) were disappointing, to say the least. I went for the cinnamon pecan bun with maple frosting. I received little flavor from any of those elements: the cinnamon, the pecan, and especially the maple. The bun itself had a texture I didn't really care for. It wasn't crispy yet it wasn't soft. The baked good was diminutive and way overpriced at $4.00. When your bun is 1/2 the size of Flour's, 1/2 the quality, and more expensive...something is wrong. Service was fine, as the gentlemen at the counter was polite. However, I ambivalent with regards to the decor. Additionally, maybe I caught them on a bad day, but the bakery looked like a hot mess. There were used kitchen towels strewn all over the counter-top and floor.

Yelp
Super cute spot in an unexpected area with great food/coffee, and excellent service! Was kindly greeted with a good morning by the kind ladies working there. I decided to go big and order myself a vietnamese iced coffee--amazing! I must say it was too sweet for my taste (apparently it has 2 oz of condensed milk in it--lol), but regardless it was still a yummy treat. After a few sips though I was a bit overwhelmed with creamy and sweet nature of it so I ask them to add a little black coffee to it. They kindly did it and just told me next time to ask for less condensed milk (noted!!!) The coffee was $4. I also got an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. The bagel was nothing special, but it served its purpose ($3) They have wifi, music, plenty of tables, a water jug, and nice spread of cream and sugar. They do get quite busy in the morning. Overall good experience, and if in the area I would go back!

Yelp
Great coffee. Cute ambiance. I had a hot Norwegian sandwich and was very impressed. Decent prices. Friendly service.

Yelp
Great ambiance and solid cafe. Drinks were delicious and food were fresh and filling.
google avatar

Julius S.

Yelp
Really good cafe. If you ever happen to came to home stead make sure to order the Brazilian cheese breads because they taste really good. So do the blueberry muffins. The place is almost as aesthetic as it's coffee . My friends parents own the store so I go there pretty often. Really good cheese bread again. Highly recommend this Café.
google avatar

Arnold H.

Yelp
Jesus Christ what obnoxious service. Dana asked what their specialty was and got a mystified look in return followed by a nonspecific sassy response. Look I get it, you want to say everything is good, fine. But then you follow up with "this is our most popular sandwich or pastry". Y'all know me by now I tend to not care about awful apathetic service as long as the food is good but that was such a turn off. Regardless we tried some pastries. Decent; maybe without the terrible waitstaff it's a 3.8

Jamila B.

Yelp
The woman at the front desk had an awful attitude. She stared at me impatiently while I tried to order and there was no one in line. Her whole vibe was as if my presence was a burden to her. Then the drink I ordered tasted like trash.

John G D.

Yelp
The snacks were great. The sandwiches were good. The coffee drinks were perfect. I will definitely return.

Yelp
So this spot was a recommendation from a friend of a friend of mines. And after going here I think I need to make her my best friend just based off her food choices. I was in the mood for a good breakfast and they definitely delivered. Homstead is surprisingly spacious, and has an excellent variety of food! We got the following: 1. Waffles - We actually got two of these because of how good they were. This vegan [major bonus!!], and come with berries but we added chocolate chips for a little extra something something! 2. Pan de Queijo - This is a Brazilian cheese bread bun that was absolutely phenomenal. I asked for it toasted so they cut in half and grilled it and wow it made this 10x better! 3. Yogurt Parfait - Classic, and good amount of granola/serving size. It was a greek yogurt base and house made granola with fresh fruit. I asked for a couple of modifications and they were super accommodating which is great! Highly recommend this delicious spot! Like seriously, hop on whatever train or get stuck in whatever traffic to go here!

Yelp
Solid cafe for Dorchester. It's an nice open space with lots of natural light. It feels homey with a long communal table in the center. Home.stead features a typical menu of coffee, tea, breakfast items, paninis, sandwiches, soup and salad. Their iced coffee was enjoyable. I ordered the Charlotte's web panini to go. Overall, it was tasty. Note that the pickles in this sandwich are sweet. I don't like sweet pickles. :( I wish that the menu said that. It took a while to get my sandwich - about 18 minutes. There were 2 cashiers/baristas and 1 person making food. The cafe wasn't particularly busy so that's a long wait time. I appreciate a quicker turnaround.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so cute. I dig the vibe. Limited seating ... nice for a quick bite. My friends and I did work there for a few hours.
google avatar

Will C.

Yelp
When I was searching on Yelp, people report this place is closed, which is not true, at least in 2021-11-05. Such a cute store with a nice vibe and good food and coffee. I got a latte, a hot Norwegian sandwich. The sandwich is very very very good! I am very thrilled to find places in Dorchester that have a nice environment for people to sit and work. the wifi is also amazing.
google avatar

Madow N.

Yelp
Decent coffee and granola. Difficult to get a table on a weekend morning. Street parking in the area wasn't difficult to find.
google avatar

Jewel C.

Yelp
A nice place for great coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, and salad. I have yet to try out for dinner here but given the delicious food and great coffee (excellent in both artistry and taste)...I am sure that dinner will be delicious. A warm and cozy place.....walking distance from Red Line Fields Corner T station. A nice neighborhood hang-out (I don't live in this neighborhood) but it is worth hanging out to do reading and writing. A real sense of community.
google avatar

Vanessa C.

Yelp
I came here because they were close and open when I woke up this morning. I got the breakfast burrito and I have to say I'm really disappointed. I was well aware that they use vegan chorizo (I wish it was actual chorizo) but I didn't realize they woild use hard boiled eggs, though. Why?! That's... not... it's just not how eggs should be prepared in a burrito. Overall I found the taste of the burrito mediocre. No strong flavor that makes me want to take my next bite. I may come here in the future to try one of their lunch sandwiches since none of their other breakfast options appealed to me. Cute hipstery decor though.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
I really enjoy coming here. The staff is friendly and the place is overall cozy. Being from the same community it's nice to have home.stead as in addition to our neighborhood. I've only tried two things here and they are great. 1) the yogurt if i'm I'm a rush to work I stop by and grab a yogurt. I like that it's fresh and hasn't been sitting there for days. 2) turf bagel sandwich i love this sandwich is so good. They do close early so make it in early if you want to try this place out. I also hear they offer yoga classes in the evening.. Super cool i definitely need to check that out.

L Z.

Yelp
Great atmosphere; muffins were awesome. Very limited menu which is too bad. Wish they offered ANY kind of hot breakfast sandwich or options. Good for a light bite but skip if you want a real breakfast.
google avatar

Patrick G.

Yelp
All their egg dishes are made with hard boiled eggs, including the breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwiches instead of hot fresh eggs. Odd choice.
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
Homestead is one of my go to lunch places in Boston. The food is amazing, I would recommend everything, but especially the hot Norwegian(salmon) and they have the best chocolate cookies I have ever had. The staff is extremely friendly and put a smile on your face.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Really cute cafe that I always pass by and finally stopped in this morning. I got a cold brew with house-made almond syrup. The cold brew tasted sour and I ended up tossing over half the $5.35 drink. The bakery items looked yummy. If I came again I'd try something different but I likely won't be back.
google avatar

Matt D.

Yelp
Great cafe I go to very often, great atmosphere, nice people..but all their sandwiches are the same - arugula, cilantro, sriracha mayo - they just have a different protein and bread. Would also be nice if they could actually toast the bread and sandwich to get that crispy crunch and actually melt the cheese. Seems like most of the employees only know to serve drinks and not cook a simple breakfast sandwich.

Joseph C.

Yelp
food was either insanely salty or sweet. latte had no coffee flavor and mine was significantly uglier than neighboring customer's designs. panini was filled with mostly mustard, breakfast burrito was only salty tofu with avocado. the one star is for the nice ambiance.
