I was first introduced to Homestead Creamery when I saw their milk and heavy cream in the grocery store and decided to give it a try. Who can resist a glass bottle? Their milk and heavy cream was by far the best I have ever had. I find the texture much more thick, creamy, and rich than other versions of liquid dairy.
So I knew I had to visit this store/cafe. Not only to order ice cream, but also to try more of their milks (they don't sell heavy cream in the stores near me).
The store is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but that adds to the fun of going! When I arrived their I was greeted by their charming store front. Clean, old-fashioned, and quaint are some words that come to mind.
Inside their are various grocery items (meats, cheeses, candy, mixes, dips), much of it local. I enjoyed getting some peanut butter freshly ground out of a little peanut grinding machine! In addition, there was also a cafe menu of savory things, but I didn't try any of it, maybe next time.
I of course tried their ice cream (my main reason for going) and I also bought some produce, milk, and sausage--all very tasty. The ice cream was delicious (I had 2 scoops: rum raisin and pumpkin pie) and I am looking forward to my next visit to get more!
