It became our tradition to come pick fruit here every year. Staff is always so friendly and place is well maintained. I wish people would be more mindful when coming to pick fruit it is heartbreaking to see people step on the plants or leaving trash behind I feel sorry for the farm keepers. We humans need to do better and stop being so selfish.

A Fantastic Fall Day at Homestead Farm! I recently took my teenage kids to Homestead Farm for some fall fun, and I have to say, it exceeded all our expectations! The pumpkin and apple picking season is in full swing, and this farm offers an incredible experience for visitors of all ages, especially for older kids and teens. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how well-organized the farm was. The entrance fee was incredibly affordable compared to other farms in the area, which meant we could enjoy our day without breaking the bank. The staff was friendly and helpful, making our visit even more enjoyable. We had a blast exploring the expansive apple orchard and picking the juiciest Fuji apples we could find!🍎🍎 Also, I couldn’t resist buying some stunning mum flowers—$12.99 for a large mum is simply unbeatable. The colors were vibrant and added a lovely touch to our home. The market also offered a fantastic variety of fresh produce, so we stocked up on some goodies to bring home. I highly recommend visiting Homestead Farm. You won’t regret it! 🍏🎃🌼

Google
Enjoyed our visit today to homestead! Kids loved the apple picking, farm animals, hay stack to climb, beautiful lake, super tasty cider, awesome market and jam that I am so excited to taste! - I only wish there this location had the apple extenders that other farms give to make it easier to pick apples that are too high for hands reach. It made it harder to pick them but we loved our time today at homestead

A perfect PICNIC day with my teammates. Various kinds of apples 🍎, fresh home grown vegetables, ice cream 🍦, apple cider and many more varieties were available at this farm. Ponds and animals were there as well. We were able to spend some quality time and all pictures were came out very colorful. Thank you 😊

We came today and the staff said it was temporarily closed and there was no guarantee that there would be any fruit to pick, but we still came. There were no blueberries, but there were still blackberries to pick.

Google
Great and happy place. We came here to get some apples, but it was a little too early in the season. We ended up buying super fresh eggplant, peppers, corn and young potatoes. Everyone who worked there at the market was extremely friendly and welcoming. We saw a lot of families with kids, that came fruit picking. We also saw a very cute goat walking on the barn roof 🤣. Will come back in a few weeks for apples.

Google
Paid just to enter 30 minutes before closing, trees were picked clean and the few peaches left were bruised or on the ground. At checkout, we were told we had to buy everything we picked — even the bad fruit — at outrageously high prices. This is never disclosed to you by the way. When we tried to take less, the staff became rude, accusatory, and downright hostile, making us feel like criminals instead of customers. Between the poor quality, hidden rules, and unprofessional behavior, this place is an overpriced trap. Never again!!!!

Google
Had an amazing time at the Homestead Farm! Thanks for allowing us to pick some of your delicious apples. We heard it was so good, we had to drive all the way from Annapolis. I had never heard of Enterprise apples before, but they were an instant hit. Our daughter loved picking apples for the first time, but we all know that the goats were the star of the show. We'll be back for pumpkins next week! For Farmer Ben, all the world needs is more parents like you. Thanks again!

Yelp
Awesome farm that does pick your own fruit and flowers! It's just 4 bucks to enter for each person, and 1 extra dollar if you buy a pail from them. We came during blackberry season. They also have peaches during this time but they were probably picked clean. They also had a small market to buy some fresh produce and honeys and jams. We picked a bunch of blackberries and it was such a great experience. We went in July and it was pretty quiet. There's also some fun farm animals to check out too.

Yelp
Great farm and pechar with amazing apples and cute animals. Staff is friendly and prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Adorable pumpkin patch and orchard! Super reasonable entry fee--just $4 a person. They had lots of pumpkins and gourds of all different sizes and kinds to pick! The farm also has goats, donkeys, pigs, and llamas. There were a couple baby goats that were especially adorable! They have a hay ride as well which is included and a cute little market with fresh produce and canned goods. We didn't go apple picking but easily could have and are hoping to go back in the future to pick cherries and peaches!

Yelp
Pro tip: go farther into the back to find more apples! Came here mid apple picking season to still a good harvest. At first, we were a bit disappointed since we didn't see any apples near the entrance. However, the farther back you went, the more plentiful the apples! We ended up getting a lot of pink lady and a couple crimson crisp. Good wholesome date for the fall! $4 for admission and then pay for what you end up picking!

Yelp
Always forget how awesome this place is until we bring kids to pick fruit and see animals. Just a short drive out past darnestown lots of fresh produce in the farmers market as well. We did blackberry and nectarine picking the even the tractor ride to the field was fun and scenic. Will not sleep on this place for pumpkins this year and fresh cider and candy apples.

Yelp
I was very surprised with Homestead Farm, and all the offerings for an extremely low price of three dollars per person entry fee. The farm is not too far from the DC area. The three dollar fee will get you in the door. What's included is; ability to see goats, chickens, alpacas, pigs, and other farm animals up close this includes a hayride. The hayride was about 15 minutes long and ran about 5 to 7 minutes per tractor. Kids and adults really enjoyed it. They were cute little photo opportunities all over the farm. The pumpkin picking section had ample space. And the staff was replacing pumpkins at a decent rate. There's a lot of selection on the quality of pumpkins looked very good. The cost per pound for a pumpkin was $.75. Another reason why we came here was that that Apple picking was still in season. There was a vast selection of apples available to Pick. The quality of the apples was excellent. we came for the pumpkin picking but stay for the apple picking. The staff was very friendly after he picked up about 60 pounds of pumpkins. we did not want to haul around the farm so we went back dropped off the pumpkins at the car and they let us back in. Here's an important tip: make sure you grab a cart from the parking lot and take it with you into the farm. It's gonna be very hard to carry more than one pumpkin in and around. The only criticism was they did not have apple cider donuts. Aside from that it was a perfect delightful day. I highly recommend this place it's small intimate and not as commercialized as the other farms, or the entry fee significantly higher other types of activities, such as a hayride cost an additional fee. We will be back next year. My fingers are crossed that they have apple cider donuts.

Yelp
We enjoyed the fruit picking but DID NOT enjoy the super unpleasant customer service. As soon as you walk in and ask about the buying tickets, the staff (two young girls) act like you've created a major crime or that you're become an inconvenience to them. **NOT FREE FOR BABIES???** The sign in the front says free for babies but when you go pay, they tell you that your 18 month old is not a baby ... they define baby as under 12 months old. So it's $4 for babies over 12 months old just like for adults. After paying for the entrance fee, there was no instruction from the staff so I asked where do you go from here? Do you need a ticket? Again, so much attitude. When we finished picking and went to the weigh and pay. There was 1 damaged fruit so was not going to pay for that one. That became a huge argument. In the meantime, they have entire groups of families enjoying fruit buffet while picking ... when our family didn't eat a single one while picking the fruit. We bought $70 worth of items -- them allowing us to not pay for that 1 damaged fruit was not going to break the bank for them. We were even thinking about buying more produce and jams from the store -- but having the staff give us such a hard time and such rude interactions, really just wanted to get out of there .. left a bad taste in our mouths.

Yelp
Good spot for general farm related things. Not crazy busy and not empty usually. You are allowed to bring your own containers for picking which feels like nice normal option. Places for kids to jump on hay are always a hit.

Yelp
If you're looking to pick your own fruit in the NOVA area, you should check out Homestead Farm. We drove an hour to come here and it was totally worth it. No reservations or advance tickets needed. Admission is $4 per person and babies are free. You can also buy a bucket for $1. It's a bit of a hike to the blueberry bushes but they have big wheel barrels that you can cart your kids in. Blueberries were aplenty and they are sweet and juicy. Excellent pickings! There is also a farm area with animals like pigs, goats, and chickens. They also had alpacas or llamas, not sure which! There is also a market. We bought some pumpkin butter, chunky peach jam, and strawberry rhubarb preserves. Those run about $9 each, and they also have lots of pickled goods. Water for $1, soda for $2 and popsicles for $3. There are also a few produce items to buy. The staff here were so friendly and sweet! We will definitely be back to pick blackberries in mid July and peaches too. Easy parking and lots of port-a-potties. We spent about an hour here and had a lovely time. Family friendly and great activity to do with kids. It was pretty empty on a weekday afternoon!

Yelp
Rainbow chard the size of my arm! 8-ball zucchini... something I've never heard of... but completely understand why they decided to name it that. It's round as round can be! Golden Beets! Miniature red potatoes! Seriously sized beefsteak tomatoes! Peaches! Large green tomatoes! A tomato vinaigrette dressing! Broccoli with a ton of beautiful leaves attached! Aforementioned is the list of things I bought at Homestead Farm in their market. Warning... this review is only based on their market. I was headed back home from Rocklands Farm Winery and decided to stop by due to a serious shortage of fresh produce in my fridge at home. And man am I glad I stopped by. In addition to everything being seemingly SUPER fresh. The variety was right, the cost was right, it's very spacious. I mean... I HONESTLY think I will find myself here on somewhat of a regular basis from now on. Oh, the best part? I got all of that stuff... aLL of that stuff for 35 dollars. Like honestly... I probably would have paid 10 dollars at whole foods for CLOSE to the amount of Rainbow chard I got... and it wouldn't have been as fresh. I came home and cooked some rainbow chard with a ton of garlic and lemon juice. It was delicious. I also steamed some broccoli yesterday which came out as literally the most brilliant green broccoli color I think I've ever seen. I didn't even shock it in ice water and it stayed that super brilliant green. Love this place. And if you have kids, or are on a date, you can go pick your own fruit from the orchard. There is a small entrance fee to go pick... I think it was like 3 bucks a person. Love this place. Ample parking too!

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed with my experience here and granted I could've done more research to better prepare so I'm taking that into account with my rating. First off, they only had two varieties of apples for picking. It looks like they might have other varieties but they weren't ready to pick... Not one hundred percent sure about that though. Secondly, the food. The "Country Kitchen" was a very big disappointment. One would think they made their own products fresh, or at least with their own fruit. They did not. They buy the pies off-site, it's frozen and shipped to them and then they heat it up and sell it. And the apple cider... I'm pretty sure it's store bought apple cider that's heated up. There wasn't even any pulp in it. The one redeeming factor, even though they said they were out of blackberries we found quite a few ripe ones. Of course, being out of prime picking time we also had our handfuls of sour and fermented berries. But definitely worth checking out if you're going to the farm, it was really the highlight and what made the trip worthwhile, in my opinion. The animals are fun to see and the walkway for the goats was very cute.

Yelp
Great! We came here because they don't have a ton of fall festival activities and we wanted a low-key farm experience. Only $3 per person entry, and then apples, pumpkins, etc. are available for purchase inside. Free hay ride and petting zoo with farm animals. Alpacas, goats, pigs, chickens, and donkeys. The kids liked picking apples, but because we went toward the end of the season, we had to do some serious searching for good ones. But came away with 10+ pounds for each family! The hay ride was pleasant through the countryside, without any scary ghosts or things on display. The small market did not have much variety except produce, and the food stall was not open when we were there. But the pumpkins for purchase were gorgeous and the kids had a blast! Would 100% come back next year earlier in the season!

Yelp
Let me first say that I've been going to the Homestead Farm to pick peaches and apples for probably over 10 years. And, up to this point I have loved going there. The crops of peaches and apples were usually great. But, it's sad when an institution that is loved by the community with a great product and wonderful customer service switches to the next generation in a family and loses its desire to provide customers service. Maybe the owners have put all their effort into the crops. But as a pick your own farm and petting farm, they have customers who they should provide basic customer service too. Just "basic" customer service! I found that I couldn't trust what they put on their website. Plus, if you have any questions or concerns, the only way to "try" to communicate with the Homestead farm is by email. Which lately I've seen no evidence that they read or reply to. Their phone is disconnected. They say to watch their website for what crops are ready to pick, but there is a "slight" problem the information on the site can be wrong! When they shut me out of my favorite apple crop I asked them "what happened" and they have never gotten back to me! So buyer beware. If you decide to make the trek out to the farm, good luck! Unfortunately I'm looking for another farm to go to pick my fruit. And, I'm sure coming from Alexandria that it will be longer to get to a different farm, but hopefully they will treat their customers better.

Yelp
The workers are rude and racist. We've been coming to this farm for the past few years , but today will be the last time we coming here. We came for peach picking today n my 3 years old wanted to eat the peach, although i told her we have to pay first but she said other kids are eating too. So i told her its fine then. when we got to the check out, i told the cashier ahead of time that i'll pay for the peach my daughter is eating. But the cashier still made a really rude and unnecessary comment. What interesting is they didn't say anything to the other kids who are also eating the peach. I guess because the other kids are white n we are not ‍. * the male cashiers seem very pleasant but the female cashiers, most of them are rude n have bad attitude from the moment we check in to pay for admission*

Yelp
I'd never been to Homestead Farm before, (I usually go picking at a competing farm) but for the first time I was seeking to go apple picking during the week since my mom was in town. I was thrilled to find this farm because they are open for picking with no reservations every day from 9-5! Mom and I showed up around noon on a Friday and felt like we had the entire orchard to ourselves (we ran into a handful of folks in an hour or so). We got to pick from rows of apples, including ambrosia, Granny Smith, cortlandt, crimson crisp, Fiji, and more! We wanted to pick about 10 lbs and ended up picking around 20 lbs because the apples were beautiful. After apple picking, we made our way into the market and got some fresh fruits and vegetables (some are competitively priced, others not but everything was gorgeous). This is hands down my new go to orchard. Thank you for the great experience! We cannot wait to return.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to visit this farm to hand pick our own apples. The drive to this location was beautiful. When we arrived, the employees were very friendly, explaining to us the process. We then walked down to the orchard. It was so beautiful and peaceful. They have live animals that you can pet. We walked around the reservoir to the many rows of apples. They had at least 5-6 different types of apples.. we were in aw...it didn't take long to fill up two of the baskets they us. The price of the apples was good. I know I would have paid more in the store. I also purchased their appl cider and it was delicious. This was a great place to visit.

Yelp
I LOVED my peach picking experience! I came here on a Wednesday morning at 9:30am and it was not busy. When I was leaving, there was a good amount of people so I'm glad I came early. Everything was pretty close together so I walked to the peaches field and blackberry field. There is a wagon if you don't want to walk. Lots of peach trees (yellow peaches, white peaches, and white nectarines). I brought my own container to put my peaches in, but you can buy them at the market too. When you enter the farm, you pay a $2 admission fee at the market. The peaches were not expensive! There are animals (goats, chickens, donkeys...) and flower fields as well. The market has lots of veggies and jams as well. Great experience! The farm is easy to find and the roads aren't terrible. I would definitely come again!

Yelp
Driving out to Homestead Farm was like taking a mini vacation in the country -- everything was so scenic and beautiful! Unlike other farms in the area, you do not need a reservation which is a plus in my book. We went on a weekend afternoon right before closing and it was very easy to socially distance and for most part, we had rows of raspberry bushes to ourselves. We had a wonderful time enjoying the scenery and animal but we had several womp womps: + Raspberry bushes were completely picked through so we came home with 29 berries (mostly pity picks since we drove all the way there) + Flower fields (sunflowers and zinnias) are absolutely beautiful but would recommend bringing your own shears (they give you the equivalent to Fiskar scissors which badly bruised the stems and were hard to use). Also recommend bringing your own vase since all of our flowers were very badly wilted/brown by the time we had went to pay (immediately after picking). + They have seasonal peach milkshakes but they were not cold at all (pre-made). Overall it ended being quite expensive for what we got although we really enjoyed being out and about the beautiful area. Hopefully when we return the fruit will be more plentiful (I wish they warned you ahead of time via their website, social media or even when you walked in). Would definitely come back again!

Yelp
Fruit and produce are delicious. Reasonable fee to get in, and low prices plus fun. The only drawback, those disgusting port a Johns, which smelled so bad it made one want to throw up. Other than that an incredible place to get fresh cider and all.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
They are still open. However, they close for the winter season as of November 1, 2020. At the time, they still carried fresh produce, seasonal items such as pumpkins. They do have tons of livestock here where you can see them in person. Admission fee for each person is $2.00. However, children can enter here for free. If you are craving pumpkin, apple and or cherry pie, they did sell them here, but only by the slice. Wished they sold them by the whole pie. There are tons of pumpkins to select from here for the Halloween season. Due to COVID, people are required to wear masks upon entering. There are tons of hand washing / hand sanitizer stations throughout the farm area. Once the weather gets warmer, they do have other fruit options such as apples, berries, peaches, etc. There is plenty of parking (grass) here so you don't have to worry about not finding a space to park.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend around 2pm on Saturday and had a wonderful time! There were hay rides, pumpkins, apples, more than enough people dressed in flannel, and all the things you would envision in a perfect fall day! So first things first, there is a $2 admission per person. It can be paid with cash or credit card. This includes a free hayride, interaction with the animals (goats/pigs/etc.), apple/pumpkin picking (but you still need to pay for your pickin's by the pound), and honestly everything else you can do at the market besides visiting the market/produce area. The market/produce area isn't as large as I've seen at other places, but they have a lot of produce and a few apple butters and ciders. The parking wasn't too crazy at this hour--the lot was full, but there were some open spots from other people leaving. It's not a paved lot so keep that in mind if you're driving a smart car or something. As for the apple/pumpkin picking, it's a pretty big orchard with a large variety of apples. I think you're really only supposed to pick from the labeled aisles although they don't say this explicitly. We picked from some rows which didn't have the apple variety labeled and they were definitely under ripe. Just an FYI, there is going to be a decent amount of walking at this orchard. I've been to other orchards where you drive up to the area that you're supposed to do your apple picking, but this is sort of a free-for-all so if you get here later in the season, I'm not sure if there will be many apples left. The apples are I think $2.49 a lb. The bucket they give you is LARGE and we filled maybe about 1/2 to 3/4 of it. This ended up being 13lbs of apples (oops) and cost us about $32ish out the door so make sure you don't go too crazy if you're not looking to feed a village. Overall, we had a great time here. They make sure they have a lot of workers on site to make sure you know where to go and to help navigate the crowds since this place gets BUSY in the fall. This is definitely a place I hope to return to in the summertime for some peach picking and some place I hope to return to next fall!

Yelp
Nice farm to visit in Poolesville, MD. It is $2 per person to enter for anyone over 1 yr old. Tip: They have animal feed to purchase for $1 but you can just pick grass and feed it to the goats for free :) Also, there is a hand washing station with soap near the goats. I thought this was a nice feature. There are goats you can feed and other animals you can look at such as hens, pigs, and donkeys. They have fresh vegetables to purchase when you walk in/exit. You can pick your own fruit and they charge you per pound. You can bring your own container or buy theirs. We did not do this but lots of people were out in the field doing so. They have hay for kids to climb on. The farm is a nice place to spend a morning or afternoon and has great air quality if you do not want to drive far but want a change from the city.

Yelp
We were looking for an apple orchard somewhere in the DMV. Our search brought us here on Halloween weekend. When we arrived, we took note of the pricing and I immediately regretted buying apples and pumpkins from my local grocery store. It was far more cost-effective to just come here and pick them ourselves. Not to mention, more exciting. This is a great place to come with your kids too. They have an animal farm with llamas and goats that are sure to get your kids excited.

Yelp
This farm is a MUST. Get on their email list ASAP!! They let you know weekly what is available for picking, pricing, etc. They have a market also for those who want fresh produce without having to go pick it yourself. However, if you do decide that you want to enter the fields and go pick yourself, there is an admission charge of $2 per person. Pay it, you won't regret it. I was here on a Honeycrisp Apple mission. They were U-Pick for $1.99/lb. I only picked about 10, but I regret not getting more. Upon getting home and biting into one, they are the sweetest and crispiest apples I have ever had! They were SO GOOD! I wish I lived in the area because I would be at Homestead Farms every weekend. This is a great place to bring kids as well. Lots of animals to look at on the farm - goats, chickens, LLAMAS!!!! I immediately told everyone I know about this farm to go apple picking! Also, the drive to the farm from DC is extremely scenic! I mean you get to drive past all of those mega mansions in Potomac and then get the beautiful farm area of Poolesville. For the adults: You'll also pass some wineries on your route there, one next door actually (wink wink)! Highly recommend Homestead Farms and I look forward to trying their other options as well. :)

Yelp
This is easily becoming one of the best apple orchards in the area. I highly recommend either subscribing to their newsletter or reading the "Pick Your Own" section on their website. If you do this, you will know exactly what is in season and ready to pick. Just two weeks ago only 2 varieties of apples were available to pick so we delayed our visit, and their website updated and there is now 6 varieties! There are so many apple choices and they make it so easy to know when to exactly go. They have ample parking, apple bags, buckets, and wagons. We also were able to snag some beautiful mums and fresh vegetables in the market. The farm is also rather large so it never feels congested or overrun.

Yelp
Kind of a dud of a farm... I think my biggest issue was lack of good food in either the country market or the marketplace. We are accustomed to farms offering BBQ, pit beef and other goodies while eating there and all kinds of great desserts and apple cider donuts and treats you can buy and bring home. This place had none of that... the food spot only had boiled hot dogs and Doritos and the marketplace only carried jam and honey. The pumpkin patch itself is a good size but pretty difficult for a little kid to get around with all the vines and watering hoses (but I imagine that would be the case at other locations too). They also had a couple of goats, some chickens and a pair of alpacas to look at, but that was about it. By the time we were leaving at noon it was quite crowded and there wasn't much in the way of organization to ensure people were doing what they could to socially distance. Overall it was ok, but def will be checking out a different location next time!

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE Homestead Farm, cannot possibly describe how much. Well-organized working farm, great layout and fantastic selection. Always a treat at Halloween (one of the best pumpkin patches ever, anywhere) and well-stocked marketplace featuring the farm's produce pre-picked and packaged, along with other treats (honey, cake and biscuit mixes, apple cider when in season, etc). But best of all: pick-your-own ... it's become a family (and neighborhood/local) tradition as yellow and white peaches, berries, and a seemingly infinite number of different varieties of apples (Fuji, Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Aztec, etc) come into season and folks pick up buckets (for apples) and boxes (for peaches) and head into the fields to select and hand pluck fruit at its freshest, juiciest peak straight from the tree. Various farm animals (goats, chickens) are also guaranteed to entertain kids and adults alike. As you can imagine, weekends are crowded - if you can get there during the day in the middle of the week, it's much less crowded.

Yelp
What a great family outing. First time going to Homestead, peaceful & quiet on such a gorgeous day. We went on a Monday so it was slow without to many people around. But our almost 3 year old enjoyed it very much. Love the variety of apples and that you can get a cart to push or pull around the property as you pick, plus they have bushels for you as well to fill. The cart was helpful since their property isn't stroller friendly (it's a farm, why would it be? :) ). But our son was happy to hop in and enjoy the ride in the cart. They have some farm animals to see and the staff was really helpful in getting us started since we had no idea how this worked. Farm is really well marked at what apples are wear, if it's rained in the last few days, where boots, it was muddy in spots. Have a nice variety of local produce and selections in the farm market as you enter or exit. Looks like they have hayrides on the weekend as well. I looked up their website, they have stuff to pick almost all year, so check it out if you're a hankering to get out and about. Have a great time and enjoy great for family or a nice romantic picnic date.

Yelp
Have visited this farm for multiple years now and each visit has been great. During our most recent visit there were baby goats, which were very cute. The farm also has chickens, pigs, and a few alpacas. There have always been plenty of pumpkins along with all kinds of gourds. The vegetables for sale are also impressive in size and I wish they were offered all year round. The Country Kitchen (their food stand) is okay. Hotdogs, chips, pie, and some drinks. Nothing too special but also not too overpriced. Fun place to visit and will keep returning.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place based on all the high reviews. Decided to pop in to buy some peaches. As I was going into the market my husband dropped us near the entrance of the market and a female employee waved at him that he couldn't park there. I waved back, indicating that I had received the message, and exited the car with my son. Then my husband backed the car away and parked in the parking lot. As we entered market the same female employee came up to us and said to me, we don't bring cars up here. I responded and said, oh sorry, he was just dropping us off. To which she replied, well we park in the lot and walk up, so you might want to tell him. It was just really rude and later when my husband joined us in the market she shot both of us dirty looks. If it's that important there should be signs indicating "no cars past this point," or similar. In terms of the market, it was very small and didn't have as many of the offerings as other local farm markets in the area so even if there wasn't such a cold reception, I don't think I would return. Don't know if the peaches will be good or not, but we definitely won't be back. And if you do go, make sure you don't drive your car in the wrong area lest you meet the same woman.

Yelp
I think the first time I ever visited Homestead Farm was on a field trip in kindergarten. I've been over the years and have watched the farm change (loved the corn maze). Recently visited while family was in town, looking to recreate some memories. The farm store is still just as good as it ever was, but I was really disappointed to see that this year they've started charging a $2/person fee to enter the farm beyond store. I'm picking apples myself and walking out to the patch to pick my own pumpkin. Part of the fun of coming here has always been walking by the pond, looking at the goats and other livestock, and taking in the atmosphere, but I'm not sure if I'll be coming back anymore. Positives: they have a huge variety of different types of apples that ripen throughout the fall, so if you're interested in a specific type, keep an eye on the website. They do update regularly to let you know which fruits and veggies are currently in season and able to be picked or purchased. Historically, weekends in October have been a zoo, but during the week it is relatively calm, save for the elementary school field trips.

Yelp
My family and I had a great time at Homestead Farms. We went here for the apple picking but we were happy to see that there were a bunch of other things for the kids to do. They have photo op areas, farm animals, tractor rides, pumpkin patch and a market to purchase items. Once you park your car, there will be areas for you to pick up a wheelbarrow. These are pretty heavy to begin with so just be aware. The apple trees are low so its easy for even the little children to choose some to pick. We all thought that the apples tasted so delicious! I wish we had more time and go to the other side of the farm to the pumpkin patch but we ran out of time. We enjoyed the experience and would come back in the future.

Yelp
It was an okay farm! I'm used to going to pumpkin patches in the Midwest where they have more activities to do! There was nice little market with apple related items and cider but no cider donuts or anything like that haha but still a cute farm! It would have been nice to have games & other things like a corn maze but still a good place to go to with friends & family for pictures, pumpkin picking, & apple picking!

Yelp
Had a great experience at Homestead Farm picking apples and pumpkins! Came on a weekday morning and it was not crowded at all. There were lots of apples and pumpkins to pick! There is also a petting zoo for goats and chickens. The farmers market had lots of vegetables and decorative goards and corn. The workers were nice and helpful. Will definitely come back next year!

Yelp
My roommate and I are from California so naturally neither of us have gone apple picking before, but now that we're here we had to experience it. Homestead Farm was such a cute place for our first time! We each got a basket and headed toward the orchard to pick our apples, but detoured to first say hi to all the cute farm animals. Seriously sooooo cute - we even saw a goat hanging out on top of a roof LOL. There were only 3 types of apples, which was a little disappointing since we only liked 1 type (Fuji) but it was a fun experience nonetheless. We picked a good amount of apples and got in a mini photoshoot among the trees because why else would you go to an orchard? (Yes or for the apples, okay party poopers.) It was such a beautiful sunny day but luckily not too crowded - not sure if it's because we went on a Monday or if everyone had already gone earlier in the season, but either way not complaining. There was a big parking lot out front so no need to worry about not getting a spot, and the apples were priced reasonably too. Definitely would recommend coming here for an east coast fall experience!

Yelp
I had way too much fun. I'd never been apple picking and had no idea what to expect. The farm is only open during farm season which is (June - October). This year they are staying open a little later until November 4th (per the website) and is closing for winter after that. Be sure to grab a basket and a wheel barrel to help haul the apples back to the front after you pick them. Don't be like me and forget the cart. I was completely out of breath and had to keep stopping because my basket was too heavy to carry. It's definitely a bit of a hike getting back to the main entrance. This is such a good family outing. There're lots of small animals for the kids to pet and feed. This would even be a really cute date for couples with a visit to the winery afterwards that's just a short distance away. I was shocked to find out that places like this even existed in the DMV and had no idea that there were so many types of apples. We ended up picking a little over 12lbs of apples. Fun fact: The cashier shared that apples last up to 6 months when picked from the tree and they are already 3-4 months old by the time we purchase them in the grocery store. Ha! Crazy huh?! Don't say I never taught you anything...LoL

Yelp
I always have great time at Homestead regardless of season. Right now, it's the perfect COVID-friendly place because it's all outdoors and there's plenty of space to distance yourself from other parties. Masks are required but unfortunately there are occasional groups of people who don't mask. There are so many things to do; it's definitely worth the $3 admission. You can picnic on the fields, pick seasonal fruits, flowers, pumpkins, and check out all the farm animals. The goats are super friendly and love eating grass from your hand. Lastly, their produce market has everything from baby eggplant and okra to homemade jams and baked goods. Although pricier than grocery stores, their produce is noticeably higher quality and last for much longer in the fridge.

Yelp
We went right at morning opening hours, and it was perfect. Their new admission fee is reasonable at $2 per person, and their sales model is that you pay only for what you pick. This was more optimal for us as we knew we weren't going to be picking bushels of produce. The whole thing is walkable, so toddlers can walk around with no need for a stroller. Port-o-johns are centralized. There is a small contingent of farm animals, so it's a nice attraction for all the children. The staff is friendly, so it was really lovely interactions from the admissions entry all the way to paying for your produce. We really enjoyed our time! We spent about 1.5 hours on the ground and it was perfect.

Yelp
I love this place it is super friendly and also cheap. Which is for good price. You can touch the animals and go pick peaches . It was a beautiful experience there is so many stuff there but sadly I didn't get to look everywhere but I'd definitely would go again an try to look more places. I definitely recommend. 10/10

Yelp
Love this farm!! Absolute beautiful road trip to the farm. Prefect getaway for a day. It was a great place to experience your first apple picking season. This place is huge and filled with so much to do. Only 2.00 to enter the farm to go apple picking, pumpkin patch and to see all the animals. If you don't want to do any of that or pay the fee you can still enter their market with homemade jams, cider, honey and more. They also sell seasonal flowers and fall decor like mums, gourds, and corn stalks. If you get hungry they have a counter stand to purchase some eats. Not sure what they have since we passed that up. My husband and I had so much fun and will definitely be back to support our local farm.

Yelp
Great place to bring friends and family! Homestead Farm is a place to pick fruits and buy fresh veggies. They've also got pickles and jams galore! Not a fan of fruits? Stop by to see their goats, chickens and alpacas. Their goats are always super friendly and looking for something to eat. Great place to take photos during October as well. They set up their pumpkins in one large patch so you can find your right one and take it home! Such a fun place to spend your weekend with your family, definitely worth trying out!

Yelp
I visited Homestead Farm this past Sunday with a couple of friends. We drove about 40 minutes to get there but boy was it worth the drive! During the fall, Homestead Farm has acres of apples and pumpkins ready to be picked and taken back home. In addition, there are plenty of other produce ready to be purchased and a food stall on site. We ordered two 8oz apple ciders and two slices of pie (apple and pumpkin) topped with vanilla ice cream. There were picnic tables, with plenty of shade, but we opted to sit on the ground for the ~vibes~. We ended up picking some apples and pumpkins before leaving around 5:20pm. Parking wasn't terrible for us though I can see how some might have trouble. The place is very popular so be patient when finding a parking spot. Overall, Homestead Farm is a great place to take family and friends for a relaxing time picking fresh apples and enjoying the outdoors. Beware of bees!

Yelp
Tip: eat a meal before you come Cons: portapotties, long line for the concession stand (and the only substantial food was hot dogs, ugh), long lines at the registers, no bakery items in the store...where are the pies and breads I can purchase to take home!? Pros: Apple picking was fun. Squash was cheap (79 cents a pound). Nice variety of in season vegetables.

Yelp
Perfect for a socially distant fall activity! Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful. It's not overpriced and the baby goats are adorable. The produce is good and pumpkin selection is fantastic! We got caramel apples and cider and devoured them. Overall, a beautiful fall farm that is safe and everyone wears a mask.

Yelp
Perrrrrrfect place to kick start the fall season!! Came here for a work event to pick apples and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Apples were aplenty. They had rows and rows of all different kinds of apples (i.e. Fuji, Jonagold, Cortland, Granny Smith, Empire, etc.) It's really a huge farm so plenty of space for all. Everyone got their chance to pick the apples they wanted. It's also nice that they provide wheel barrows for you to push so you don't have to go around carrying large basket full of apples(and kids). Goats!! So many goats! You can feed the goats grass from outside the fence. You can see them gallop around and climb really tall posts. Great sights for the kids (and adults) to see. Shop: You can buy bags of apples if you don't want to pick them. They also sell tomatoes, pumpkins, jams, caramel apples, apple cider, and other berries. The apple cider was really delicious. They also have outdoor seating under pavilions so you can enjoy your lunches there. Overall, the farm was really beautiful. It's much bigger than other apple picking places I have been to. It really allows large groups of people to enjoy their own time. There were lots of families and kids running around but I never felt crowded by them. It really is just wonderful to be in the outdoors and enjoy the crisp fall air. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they didn't have a pumpkin patch and they didn't offer tractor rides (at least when I was there). But seriously, a fantastic place to go with friends and family.

Yelp
My family and I came to Homestead Farm for blueberry picking during Father's Day weekend and we had an amazing time! When you arrive there is free parking. You can bring your own baskets or buckets - and I recommend having one container for each person during the fruit picking process Tickets are $3 per person. After paying for a ticket at the entrance, you grab a ride on the tractor/hay ride that will take you to the orchard to pick fruit. The fields are spacious and we had a great time wandering in the open fields. We picked enough blue berries in about an hour and a half. Once you are done, you wait for the tractor to bring you back to the entrance where your fruits are weighed. They subtract the weight of the buckets which is nice. We loved picking our own fruit! Blueberries lasted us about two weeks. Definitely worth the visit!
