"Honcho Bar is closing this week after three years in Los Gatos. The bar was known for serving unique beers, wines, and low-ABV cocktails in addition to sake, sangria, coffee, and tea with a focus on small producers." - Janelle Bitker

Hands down my favorite spot on the Peninsula! Excellent craft beer and wine selection. Always greeted by the nicest servers! Very chill and relaxed. They have cool vintage 8mm footage projected on the wall. Don't miss out!!...currently out numbered 19 females to 4 fellas...send reinforcements...

Awesome place! Very cosy and the most friendly environment and bartenders:)

Google
This was a great spot to just walk into by chance on the weekend. This place has a very knowledgeable staff with wonderful recommendations on beer and wine. Coupled with the laid back and cheerful vibe, this spot will be the first place that comes to mind to bring my friends to!

Google
I love this bar! It's my favorite. I especially love to sit outside under the plants, read and drink champagne. The projector they have set up plays awesome obscure videos on random themes and the staff is always friendly. Music gives it a chill vibe as well. Can't say enough good things. Bar stools with backs and comfy lounge chairs. Yes please - thank you!

My friend and I are having a great time just relaxing and enjoying a fun laid back environment. Great popcorn and pretzels. Tait has been the most helpful server I've had in recent memory. Definitely recommend!

Google
Really nice, low key lounge in sleepy Los Altos. Service is excellent and the drinks were good. We had the fresh pretzels which were top notch

Google
Very attentive staff, however super spartan interior bordering on empty warehouse style so don't expect a seat, but I guess if you are in a start up you will only notice the lack of white board haha! But seriously with no furniture or art do they really need to charge $18 for a glass of mediocre wine? My memory is that it was $15 and maybe they just over charged on the bill? Since the owner replied, let me add a bit more - definitely I was over changed on an already expensive glass of wine - expensive since it wasn't a very good wine and even when they are good you don't have to pay nearly $20 for a glass of wine. Ok yes, there were a few tables and chairs certainly, but trust me this was more like office than bar. You can see for yourselves the lack of artwork in the photos here on google..

Very cute and cozy bar. Waiters are young, discreet, and knowledgeable about their drinks. The atmosphere is very soft, low key, perfect for relaxing.

Yelp
My girlfriend has many allergies and he ensured her safety. She got a drink and he ran out to make sure the drink was safe to consume. No joke he saved her life. I will now be a regular; thank you Josh never had such incredible service.

Danesa A.

Yelp
Amandine has a classy intimate vibe with low lighting and phenomenal cocktails. The real gem is the music room on Saturday nights. Rachael (pianist/singer/saxophonist) puts on a great live show, creating a chill intimate vibe. It's perfect for a ladies night, birthday drinks, or a date night.

Adrienne A.

Yelp
The highlight of my visit was, without a doubt, the Hawaii Skirt mocktail- an absolute masterpiece. It was refreshingly light, subtly sweet without being overpowering, and could easily double as a dessert if I wasn't in the mood for something heavier. Loved the plentiful fresh mint. I also really appreciated the ambiance. The space felt welcoming and well thought out, making it a great spot to unwind. The music was perfect, and never overwhelming. It was far better than the pounding volume of a club or an overly loud raucous bar. It struck a balance that made conversation enjoyable without being drowned out. Almandine is the kind of lounge I can actually enjoy. This place is perfect for a relaxed and elevated evening out. The service was excellent, and I noticed that they offer booth reservations. With its thoughtful atmosphere and beautifully crafted drinks, I'll definitely be back soon! Definitely will try the charcuterie board and can't wait to try the POG and their other mocktails as well.

Yelp
The place has craft cocktails, and it's open late. The front room has very swanky speakeasy decor. I tried one drink: 4.5/5: The Swashbuckler is good and boozy: Blended scotch, Laphroaig, Drambuie, Licor 43, Etrog citrus liqueur, Kina $18. On Saturday, they have live music 8-11 in a very intimate separate room. It has great acoustics; you don't get any of the noise from the bar.

Erica H.

Yelp
Terrible service! I should've read the other 1 star reviews of the service being terrible, dating back to 2019. I was here last Friday, my brother and I were sat at a table, and no one came over to our table. I had to go to the bar and ask a guy cleaning glasses where to order, after waiting 15-20 minutes. I saw 4 guys "working," only 1 was bartending and the rest were walking around, not doing much. The drinks were ok. Nothing I would go out of my way for. The only thing they have going for them is that they're the only cocktail bar in Los Altos. I'm just surprised that after 5 years of bad service reviews, they haven't done anything to change the service.

Thanh T.

Yelp
Great ambiance and vibes at this little cocktail lounge. Still haven't been able to come by when there is music, but will definitely try again! The cocktails here are great, good mocktail options as well and great bartenders choices. The service here is super friendly and knowledgeable. Loved everyone's energy! Nice place for drinks and to bring friends!

Elyssa V.

Yelp
Idk what the weird, bad reviews are about. My bf and I checked this place out on a Saturday night around 845 pm and it was great! Servers were attentive and the drinks were well balanced. We will def return to enjoy some nice drinks!

Ash R.

Yelp
The ambiance is really nice here. It's dim lit and very romantic. It's also located in a nice area within downtown Los Altos. The drinks were good and the service was really fast and the waitresses were friendly as well. Overall, I'd say this is a great date spot and I'd highly recommend going for generally a good time.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Fantastic atmosphere, great drinks, attentive service. It's an upscale cozy red vinyl booth sort of vibe.

Pierre H.

Yelp
Amandine has a great vibe! It's not a speakeasy but I like that dim light atmosphere, the nice furniture and the decoration. They do interesting and elaborate cocktails.

Steven H.

Yelp
Came on a Thursday night before it got too busy, I left when it was full! Got pretty wasted , in a good way. Living walking distance is awesome. The duck fat cocktail sounded better than it tasted. Followed it up with a classic drink j forgot the name of lol. They are strong , and I love that ! Great neighborhood cocktail spot I hope it stays

Yelp
Just as others have stated, the people who work here can't be bothered to wait on you. We waited at the door next to the "please wait to be seated" sign for 5 minutes, servers walked by us without any acknowledgment. Then choose where you want to sit, then when we chose a small round table the host made it obvious he didn't really want us to sit there. Next, I offered to move because I thought the next people wanted to eat...so we moved to the bar. Turns out there is no food served here, so we could've stayed. Moved to the bar and waited another 10 minutes and the host finally asked if we needed menus. Yes, thank you. As we perused the menu, none of the bartenders made any effort to acknowledge or much less talk our order. We walked out. There's no such thing as customer service here. Don't even go.

Yelp
Wow. What a place. Absolute must stop when in Los Altos. Cocktails are incredible but the service? Don't get me started. The most hospital group took the best care of us, from recommendations to generous pours and friendly conversation, we had the absolute best experience. Drinks are beyond delicious! Fabulous experience all around. Erwin, Beto, and Eric deserve a raise for the most incredible and fabulous service! Cheers y'all :-) PS herb guy goes crazyyyy shout out Luna Vez

Yelp
great drinks in a sleepy town surrounded by the silicon valley. Bar is classic environment with thoughtful drinks and no one in a hurry, I like it here.

Alaska C.

Yelp
Excellent experience overall! Will be back when visiting in the area again. The drinks were great and we enjoyed the general atmosphere of everything. Would recommend!

Annie T.

Yelp
When I think of a sophisticated bar lounge for the over 40s, Amandine is it! They have a perfect selection of drinks and small eats, strong cocktails, swanky decor, chill vibe, good service, and upbeat patrons. It's perfect for dates and good friends who value good conversations while sipping a Manhattan. I can't wait to go back.

Huey N.

Yelp
Is this the only place in downtown Los Altos open, let alone serving drinks past 10 pm? Actually, for that reason I like this place even more. It's interesting pulling up to the bar and everything surrounding is shutdown. The place was dimly lit and had a chill vibe. The drinks were pretty solid. There was a steady influx of people in and out but it didn't get terribly full. This was a nice change of pace from my regular spots. I would even come here to wind down solo after work.

R C.

Yelp
Beautiful cocktail bar with friendly staff. They have seasonal selections of cocktails, beers, and wine. On the menu they have some bar snacks but we did not partake in any during our visit. We tried different cocktails and all of them were very good. The price for them was also reasonable.

Jaky Y.

Yelp
Popped by on a Monday evening and had a good time. I appreciate Amandine's hours and location, but drinks were overall okay only. We ordered 6 throughout the night and only enjoyed 2, one of which was the milk punch. The other 4 ranged from okay to not tasty at all, and we struggled to drink them. Service was fine. Amandine was pretty empty when we first arrived and filled up as the night continued.

Allie G.

Yelp
A fantastic cocktail bar! We visited Amandine on a Saturday evening and found it surprisingly empty. The interior was dimly lit and elegantly decorated with a fully stocked bar, comfortable booth and bar seating, exposed brick, and a map mural wall with empty art frames. The vibes were exactly what they needed to be. We grabbed a booth in the corner and had started looking through the extensive cocktail menu when our server came over. He was knowledgeable and gave great drink recommendations based on our preferences. I started with the Postcards from Japan and my friends chose the Monkey Business, Smoke N Mirrors, and Postcards from UK. The Postcards from Japan was light and refreshing - enjoyable but not enough to order a second one. My friends all loved their drinks as well, especially the Monkey Business and Smoke N Mirrors. We also ordered the Cheese Plate to share. It came with three cheeses - a Goat Cheese, a harder cheese like Manchego (maybe), and something similar to Brie, which was absolutely mind blowing. We were planning to ask about this last cheese in order to buy an entire wheel of it, but unfortunately forgot to. We ended up getting a second round of the drinks though - the Violet Femmes for me and the Postcards from Spain and Black Manhattan for my friends. The Violet Femmes was so unique and kind of tasted like grass, but in a good way. Overall, we loved this creative little cocktail bar and will definitely return!

Yelp
So I brought a friend to have a cocktail and enjoy the ambience that Amandine has to offer. Unfortunately I am very disappointed about how a particular bartender or waiter called "Beto" conducted himself. I guess as I stepped to the bathroom this desperate gentleman decided to give my date his phone number. Well I hope this backfires on him - she's not interested. She told me the entire story and even showed me your note. Please remove this guy from your business as this can be considered harassment.

C B.

Yelp
Great drinks and Leo was awesome to talk to. Only issue I had was that one of the other bartenders that served me took quite awhile to follow up with me after finishing my drink and getting his attention. I would expect this if it were busy, but unfortunately, there is only one other group at the bar during this time. Regardless, it won't stop me from visiting again.

Matt L.

Yelp
I don't have great details on what I ordered here. I actually didn't expect to come here, but ended up landing here for a night cap with some visiting friends from out of town. SO glad I did. Amandine had SUCH a cool, mellow ambiance for a cocktail bar/lounge. They played great music indoors and also had a really beautiful outdoor seating area that was a bit quieter and refreshing with the peacefulness of the area. The inside was very cool though and has a lot of personality to it in the decor. The service itself was nice, and we had our drinks ordered/served to us outdoors. The drinks were GREAT. I don't recall what I had, but I loved everything I tried. Really well thought out flavor combinations. Creative and delicious! And might I say, for the drinks I ordered, bold (in the best way possible). If I were ever in the area, I would definitely come back to Amandine. What a gem of a place!

Joshua T.

Yelp
Horrid service, albeit I can't even tell who was the staff because they were all walking in and out or standing around chatting. Waited in line, for an hour, with staff on and off telling us a table would be ready in a second... then we finally got seated in the back "music room" where randos were belting 90s covers way too loud. Then no one took our order for another 30 minutes while we covered our poor ears. Also the music group was drinking boba, so I guess you're supposed to bring your own drinks?

Bill S.

Yelp
My hometown cocktail bar and this place never disappoints. We came here on Farmers Market night (Thursday) and had a couple of drinks before wandering through the market My wife had a Mai Tai and I had a drink I can't remember the name of but it was an interesting spin on a Margarita Both were excellent and the service was great as well

Yelp
Arrived on Saturday night around 10P, wasn't too busy and the person who greeted me was nice and showed me where to sit. Server, Tony, arrives and was nice explaining the drinks, etc. Provided us some suggestions on drinks and recommend the mushroom Croque monsieur. He also informed us it would take about 25 mins. Everyone was nice, the drinks were good and the sandwich was very good. However, the service experience was less than stellar. First, I'm 99% confident that Tony was high. So much so that two of us in our party came to the same conclusion because we could smell something. Second, asked for water along with our drinks... he forgot. Asked him again Third, took my drink order and came back to confirm it again. Fourth, that 25 min sandwich order was never put in and, after asking about it again, it came out about 1-1.5 hours later when we were leaving. Thankfully, another gentleman with curly hair was very nice, recognized the issue and didn't charge us - trying to perform some service recovery. Overall, not the experience that I was hoping for during my first visit.

Yelp
Ambiance : élégant, classy with antique world map mural on the wall and plush tufted leather banquettes. 5 stars Drinks: very tasty and elaborate cocktails, so even though $$$, still 5 stars. Service: awkward, amateurish, chip on the shoulder, reluctant. Would be understandable at Der Wienetschnitzel but amazing in Los Altos. 3 stars, generous Management: came over, asked how everything was, I said cocktails were fine, he hunkered behind me out of eyeshot and asked insinuatingly, "And......". I said service was not up to expectations and he radiated some attitude and flounced off. 1 star There are lots of bars nearby, I'll try them next time.

Yelp
Absolutely obsessed with this bar; Amandine is a hidden gem! It's hard to find cool cocktail bars outside of the city, but this place passes the vibe check -- moody, hip, and intimate. The menu features an extensive list of eclectic cocktails, each with its own personality. Can we take a moment to appreciate how artfully designed the menu is with its distressed leather cover? Our bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful with his recommendations. We tried a few cocktails which were crafted with care and attention to detail, including the Postcard from Spain, Welcome to the Jungle, and Shipwreck. My favorite was the Postcard from Spain; it was light, floral, and refreshing. Enjoyed every moment of my experience here. Would highly recommend for date night or a night cap!

Basil N.

Yelp
I started going to Amandine when it was just a room full of seating, but they have expanded to outdoor, and 2 additional side rooms. The menu was once extensive and unique, but it has shrunk and the service has gone down with the expansion. The existing cocktails are still nice, but the experience is not as good as it once was.

Frank L.

Yelp
4.5 Nice place to catch up for a nice drink. Get the shots and AMFs outta your mind and enjoy a nice craft cocktail. The environment is fairly quiet so its good for date nights as well as med sized groups. They also got a patio outside tho it was kinda hot so i wanted to be inside. It really reminds me of haberdasher in dtsj vibes. For the cocktails, all of em were solid to good. Ive def had better and worse but the drinks were def above avg. Favorites for me were: Clarified NY Sour, Copacabana, and the Shipwreck. We also tried the Espina De Rosa, which was good as well. Overall, would def stop by again if I was in the area but prob wouldnt make a detour or anything.

Paul S.

Yelp
Great bar and private room for music performances. The staff is top notch the bar has several rooms depending on the experience you are looking for.

Henry L.

Yelp
One of the only lounges in the Bay Area where you can sit back and enjoy a well crafted cocktail till late! Most places tend to close around 12-1am, but Amandine closes at 2am! I came here with my fiancée and it is very intimate, great date night place for drinks! The location is in a small downtown Los Altos. Overall, I would come here again because this is a one of a kind in the Bay Area!

Adeeti U.

Yelp
A tucked away spot in Los Altos that has outdoor seating and a nice interior. Cocktail menu is extensive and all the drinks have been great so far. Food is mostly small bites like charcuterie plate but all of it has been good. Great service and perfect for a date night or a night with friends

Shellee L.

Yelp
BEST place for amazing cocktails and ambiance. Staff are great, service is top-notch and the craft cocktails are indescribable in the best way possible.

Giavanna A.

Yelp
Best cocktail bar in the Palo Alto area. Coolest drinks and sweet ambiance. Such a unique and well thought out menu I wish I was more of a tank and could hold down more drinks to enjoy. Great pre/post dinner drink spot and just can't speak highly enough about this incredible menu and tucked away spot in Los Altos!

Amelie S.

Yelp
Not the greatest place for large groups if you arrive late because you'll have to wait for seating/standing area. Their menu has shrunk quite a bit since 2023, and they have more limited cocktail options. I asked the server for some of the more fruity cocktails and he struggled to give me an answer that elaborated beyond what I could already read on the menu. They have a back room with some seating which they occasionally open, but it's quite separate. Overall, it's quite pricey and if your cocktail isn't great, it just isn't worth it. The presentation for some of the drinks is quite good.

Joyce T.

Yelp
What a busy, fun place to meet up with friends or your sweetheart, especially late night. It's a craft bar with in and outdoor cozy seating. Tiki and craft drinks rule here. I like that they actually have a smart server here that could keep up with the patrons orders. Wide range of ages attend this bar but we all were quite tipsy by the end of the night!

Sris M.

Yelp
Located in downtown Los Altos, this bar has exceptional cocktails and a relaxed ambiance. We have been here twice on Fridays, and once we were seated right away but the other time there was quite a line to get an indoor table. Their drinks menu is quite extensive and the staff is very knowledgeable about which drinks you should go for based on what flavors you enjoy. We've tried quite a few cocktails here but a few of our favorites are Smoke N Mirrors, Nuts & Bolts and the Clarified NY Sour. We've had the pleasure to interact with the bartenders here and you can clearly see how passionate they are about this craft. We also tried the mushroom croque monsieur which was absolutely bursting with umami flavors and cheese. Special thanks to our server who we mentioned in conversation that we were celebrating a special night and he brought over some free pretty cool cocktail shooters for us to celebrate!

Cherith S.

Yelp
Omgosh!!! The drinks are amazing & the staff!!!!!!!!! Its like being at "home" with fancy ass drinks and people that are cool!! The attention to detail!!

YJ L.

Yelp
Had this place bookmarked for months before finally coming here! Outdoor space is super cute (as expected of dt Los Altos) and almost rustic. Indoor space is super dim, clean, and booths look cozy--perfect for an intimate date night! None of the drinks on the menu caught my eye, but the bartender said if I list off ingredients I want in my drink, then he can whip something up. I asked for a fruity cocktail with grapefruit, elderflower liquor, and vodka as a base, and this bartender d e l i v e r e d !! I love the creativity and dedication this place has to serving their guests, and I'm more than satisfied with my custom cocktail! A new favorite place for drinks and socializing!

Shru M.

Yelp
We came in here to celebrate our anniversary and were very pleasantly surprised by this brilliant cocktail bar tucked away in downtown Los Altos. Our server was super cool and attentive and gave us some great recommendations based on our likes. Their menu is pretty extensive with 25+ cocktail options and a few bites. We ordered 4 different drinks and each one of them was very well made. We also shared the mushroom croque monsier and it was great bar food! I highly recommend visiting here and grabbing a drink before a stroll down Los Altos.

Mitali N.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times in groups and this place never disappoints. If you are looking for a quiet place with amazing ambience and great drinks, do give this one a consideration. They also have finger food (special mention for the mushroom croque monsieur) which they serve right upto the time of closing. Drinks are extremely well made. Special mention for the 'postcards from Japan' and Smoke N Mirrors. Service is attentive and very friendly.

Steph M.

Yelp
Love the low light and exposed brick vibe here. Always great tunes playing too! The cocktails are delicious ...and they also have great food/snacks (especially handy, given that they have such tasty drinks -- tough to have just one!) Service can be a little slow at times, but it is worth the wait.

Anuk B.

Yelp
Surprised there's a cocktail bar in Los Altos but was really happy to hear about this place. There was not too much seating inside, but they had a nice outdoor area with heaters. They had a huge selection of cocktails, with some bar snacks as well. I got the Monkey Business and Bourbon Sour right, and both had really unique flavors without the overshadowing the flavor the whiskey. We also shared the cheese plate which was huge, and delicious. Definitely will be coming back

Daniel C.

Yelp
The rarest of things: a good cocktail bar open late in Los Altos. For that reason, it tends to get pretty packed late on weekends, even past midnight. But it's deservedly popular. The cocktails are solid and it's got a nice speakeasy-ish vibe. My go-tos are Monkey Business and the Black Manhattan, but most of the drinks are good. The combination of quality and hours make it my favorite bar in the area.

Evelyn R.

Yelp
Well me and my friends went to go have a drink after a wonderful 60th birthday party. The drinks were wonderful but the services was not good .. I seen that he was the only one on the floor, but his response to my party was short and somewhat disrespectful. We will not go back..

Ahana D.

Yelp
Very cute little cocktail bar! The drinks were on point and pretty delicious but also a little pricey. I guess it's in a pricey neighbourhood as well. We also had some olives, almonds and the Muhamarra dip. The dip was delicious!! I had the Welcome to the Jungle for my cocktail- a mescal based drink, very easy sipping and yummy!

Luke H.

Yelp
I tried the Sangria and Postcards from Japan. Both are excellent drinks that I would strongly recommend. The Japan one is very light and refreshing, and the addition of real flowers at the top that smell amazing is a nice bonus. The Sangria is nice and sweet too. Service is very good, the servers are very friendly and well-informed on all the various drinks offered.

Jeanine I.

Yelp
Such a lovely place, I wish it had a location in Mountain View, too! Loved my Clarified English punch.
