Best Korean Barbecue Restaurants Around D.C. | Eater DC

"Honest Grill pride itself on merging fine-dining culture with Korean food. Start with classic beef tartare and kimchi-and-cheese pancakes before moving toward beef and pork “guides,” which start at $37.50 per person, all served with a choice of a side like soybean stew and steamed egg custard. Reserve a seat or order online. The team expanded its Northern Virginia presence with the 2024 opening of Seoul Prime in Falls Church." - Tierney Plumb

Made a reservation for Sunday night at 6 pm, in a shopping center and so parking was not an issue. They had a variety of cocktails and soju and wine. Cute decor, nice and quiet. A more upscale Korean BBQ place than others. We opted for 2 of the Premium Beef and the Pork & Beef off the Honest Guide. We also ordered the Korean Classic Beef Tartare (appetizer) and Sea Urchin Cod Roe Rice. They bring everything out and gets cooked in front of you pretty quickly. The only service issue we had was towards the end when we were done and he would ask some part of the table if they wanted a refill but I had a difficult time getting his attention for a refill on my drinks. The tartare had great flavor but it was more of Beef pieces instead of your typical chopped beef. The Sea Urchin Cod Roe Rice was my absolute favorite but I think it was just a tad too much mayonnaise. Overall, it was a lot of food but the Premium Beef was our favorite, we loved everything there. Most of the pork and beef was just okay. The Shishito Peppers, Corn Cheese w/ Bacon and the Cheddar Egg Custard were very good. The Soybean Stew was alright. Overall, everything was pretty good and service wasn't bad.

The food quality at Honest Grill is solid, and the restaurant—including the restrooms—is consistently clean. I always check the restroom first when I visit a restaurant; while it’s not a perfect indicator, it’s often my best gauge of how clean the kitchen might be, and this place passes that test. Honest Grill is slightly on the pricier side, but it’s my go-to spot when I need to eat Korean BBQ with others. As a pescatarian, I really appreciate their sea urchin rice bowl—it’s the main reason I keep coming back. That said, I find their food to be extremely sweet, even compared to other Korean restaurants which already lean sweet. If you’re sensitive to sweetness like I am, this might stand out. The kimchi and most of the banchan (side dishes) were too sweet for me, so I barely touched them. They don’t offer as many banchan as other K-BBQ places, but they do serve salad—which I now request without dressing, since the default sauce is also quite sweet. The servers cook the BBQ for you, which is a nice touch, though some of them seem fairly new and still getting the hang of things. Despite the sweetness and the limited side dishes, I still choose this spot for BBQ outings because the restaurant feels clean, the food quality is reliable, and I love their sea urchin rice bowl. I just make sure to ask for sauces on the side.

The quality of meat was great, but the drinks were not tasty at all. My friend and I ordered two cocktails, but one was super watered down and poorly crafted while the the other drink was almost bitter due to too much alcohol. The main side dishes and the two stews were good, but bit too salty. The lettuce was super fresh so make sure to ask for it if you want to have a ssam.

This evening, my spouse and I had the chance to visit a Korean restaurant for the first time, and our experience was truly exceptional. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a warm and friendly atmosphere. The service was nothing short of outstanding, and I must highlight this. Mar, who served us, was incredibly friendly and attentive. She provided us with detailed information about each option on the menu, helping us make the right choices. The ambiance was also a delight; the dim lighting and elegant decor made us feel very comfortable. One of the restaurant's biggest surprises was having the meat cooked right in front of us on a grill in the center of our table. This was not only a treat for our taste buds but also an impressive experience. Mar guided us through the meal, explaining every detail with great care. Overall, we had a wonderful evening, both in terms of service and food. We will definitely visit this restaurant again, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Nice atmosphere for sure but everything else is just acceptable. We didn't start off with the best experience, the waitress wasn't very friendly. She didn't want to serve us, barely had a smile on her face. We ordered the Lamb and beef, pork belly, sea urchin and cod roe rice, and bulgogi bibimbap. I guess maybe my expectations are too high, all the meats were average quality, not especially higher quality meat. The sea urchin and cod roe rice presentation was a bit messy...sorry I suppose I shouldn't expect it to look like what they show in their menu. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The bibimbap didn't come in the stone bowl, yes it does make a difference serving it hot.

Yummy food. Lemon scallops to die for. Server was so sweet and personable. We went early so no crowd. Clean and comfy.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. While the atmosphere and service were decent, there were several issues that left us disappointed, especially considering the price. Our server was polite but mentioned at the end that he was new. At a restaurant with such high prices, I would expect either a training tag for new employees or supervision to ensure the correct information is being provided to customers. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. We ordered one of the guided selections from the menu that showed three lamb chops and three other types of meat, priced at $47.50 per person, with a minimum of two people required to order. Based on the menu, we expected to receive individual servings of three lamb chops and three other meats each. However, we were served six lamb chops total, but only three types of meat instead of four. When we asked about this, our server explained that one of the meats was unavailable, so they replaced it with more lamb chops. It would have been nice to be informed of this at the beginning, rather than being surprised at the end. Additionally, at the start of the meal, we were given a small bowl of marinated beef that was left on our table for about half an hour before someone came by and removed it without any explanation. We found this rude and confusing, as no one clarified why it was taken away. In the end, for nearly $100, the portion sizes and variety were very disappointing. This is not the kind of service or quality you expect for that price, especially when nearby Korean BBQ spots offer better food and service for $25 less. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to this restaurant, and I’d recommend considering other options nearby for better value and experience.

We went to Honest Grill to celebrate 2 of our girlfriends’ birthday. We got a nice table with 2 grills. Since that was our first time the wait staffs went over the menu and explained to us the Honest Grill guide to order. We ordered lot of things. From the grill we got Lamb&beef, beef special and pork special. Appetizers we had Beef tartare (a must!), veggie dumplings, Scallops, Rice with mushrooms, cold noodle (recommended if you bring kids). Rice is included along with an array of side dishes. As a side dishes that came with the meat we got: pork&kimchi stew, corn cheese with Bacon (recommended!), steamed eggs with cheddar cheese, garlic brussel sprouts, salads and fresh lettuce. Since it was a birthday of course we ordered Sojus :). Overall it was a good experience. I didn’t take many pictures but here some, I took before all the food came and we were too busy eating :).

Yelp
Took the girlfriend's parents out for some KBBQ and had an amazing lunch! This is a more upscale KBBQ dining experience with higher quality meats and nicer environment. We absolutely loved the food! The meat was tender and had great flavor. They also provide lots of sides dishes that pair well with the meat. Their kimchi was some of the best I have had in the area. Service was also really good as they cook the meat for you and continually checked on us. Definitely on the pricey end but well worth it for a special occasion. Apps: Kimchi Cheese Pancake Entrees: Premium Beef Guide (Dry Aged Ribeye, Ribeye Cap, Short Rib and Marinated Galbi) Sides: Steamed Egg, Soybean Stew, Corn Cheese and Stir Fried Brussel Sprouts

Yelp
I've always liked Honest Grill. In my opinion, it's one of the better KBBQ spots in Centreville, alongside Gogiville. It far exceeds places like Meat Project, Sō, and Iron Age. The meat quality is great, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is a bit more upscale. During this visit, they were running a deal from August 1 to August 31 for the beef combo at 30 dollars per person. If you've been to Honest Grill before (or even if you haven't), you'd know that's a great deal. One thing I think Honest Grill lacks is their sides. The steamed egg is made with cheese, which gives it a heavy cheddar flavor, and the corn cheese with bacon is also smothered in cheddar instead of the usual mozzarella. If you're in the mood for something more upscale, Honest Grill is a solid pick. If you prefer a chiller and livelier vibe, Gogiville is a great option too. Both places are good, and the price usually ends up being about the same, excluding the current promotion.

Yelp
The restaurant is really nice. When you walk in you can see the aged beef on display. The atmosphere and vibe is really chill and classy. We were seated pretty quickly and the menu was explained to us. We got the signature beef guide with a side of King oyster mushrooms and corn and cheese without the bacon. The cuts of beef were exceptional! The we're flavorful and delicious with the sauces and the sides. I really liked the scallions and seaweed side. The service was good. They came and cooked for us each of the cuts of beef. I did feel a bit rushed as the waiter came by regularly to checkin and ask if we wanted the next course of beef cooked. Other than that it was a really good meal!

Yelp
Wow--this was probably the best KBBQ I've had, and that's saying a lot considering how many spots there are in NoVa. Honest Grill stands out from traditional KBBQ places with its sleek, dark-toned interior, spacious booth seating, and overall elevated vibe. Our server was incredibly sweet and attentive--she explained the menu thoroughly and cooked all the meats for us at the table, balancing attentiveness with discretion. We ordered two beef guides and a cold buckwheat noodle dish to share among three people. While the meat portions aren't huge, I actually appreciated that--it allowed us to really enjoy the wide variety of banchan (side dishes) without feeling overwhelmed. Honest Grill clearly prioritizes quality over quantity, which suits my taste perfectly. The beef brisket was average, but all the other cuts were excellent. The marinated rib finger was definitely my favorite cut: fatty, flavorful, and melt in your mouth tender. The banchan was also a highlight. They offered a great mix of classics--pickled radish, cucumber and onion, kimchi--as well as two refreshing salads: a green onion and cabbage salad, and a spring mix with creamy dressing. As a veggie lover, I devoured both. From the special sides included with the meat guides, we picked the stir-fried brussels sprouts (amazing--especially with whole garlic cloves) and tofu kimchi (too salty; would not recommend). One of the unexpected stars of the meal was the cold buckwheat noodles (bibim naengmyeon). The chewy noodles, paired with crisp red cabbage, daikon, and cucumber in a chilled broth with the spicy sauce was sooo satisfying--I kept going back for more. It was exactly what we needed to cut through the richness of the meat. I was thoroughly impressed with my entire experience and am already looking forward to coming back to try their lunch sets.

Yelp
Super fancy and pretty interior! Decorated with so many wine bottles. We've been eyeing the lunch deal for a bit and finally got a chance to try it! It was different than what I expected since i'm used to KBBQ cooking in front of you but they actually cook it in the back and serve it cooked and seasoned. Brisket lunch - I feel like there could be a bit more pieces for the price. It was slightly salty and slightly more cooked than I would have liked but overall I liked the seasoning and thought it was very good! Love the slightly cooked onions it came on top of too. 3/5 Marinated Rib fingers - I would order this one next time instead! Love the sweet galbi like marinade and lots of pieces. Meat was tender and juicy! also comes on top of onions. 4/5 Kimchi and pork stew - Very good! More traditional and sour flavor but super flavorful. I would get this again especially since it's like $6 to add on. I wish they had more pork pieces, i think I ate 2-3 but the 2-3 i ate were super soft and melty and great. 4.25/5 Cold bibim noodles - Feels like it was lacking a bit of flavor somehow. It's made with the softer buckwheat noodles thats easier to choose which I personally prefer! I love eating bibim with meat and this was also a ~$6 add on so no real complaints but I'd prob just stick to stews next time. 3/5

Yelp
If you have the budget for it, this place has the best premium kbbq. Their premium beef combo is soooo good and every food (all meats, side dishes, a la carte entrees, everything) hits the spot. I've only been a few times because its $$$ but I've always been so satisfied with the food. Good for special occasions or if you just need some good kbbq!

Yelp
It's not in all you can eat, but it's definitely a spot you can keep returning to! The quality of the food and the quality of the service is fantastic! Not sure what else I would change. Haha maybe adding an all you can eat so I can keep on eating even after I'm stuffed

Yelp
We had a group of about 10 people, and my friend kept recommending this place so we all decided to give it a try! I came in thinking it would be AYCE but it's not and that's okay. I should've done more research on that Half the table ordered the premium beef ($75 per person) and half ordered the signature beef ($45 per person). Instead of cooking the premium beef and signature beef at the same time so we could all eat, the waiter cooked the premium beef first spread it out throughout the table (even though we told him to separate it between us) and the signature beef was next. We found it a bit odd that the waiter cooked the meat at the next table over and was bringing one small plate at a time considering we were a group of 10 The premium beef was great but if I'm paying $75 per I would of liked to get all the food i payed for and not have it mixed up. At one point the waiter didn't know what he was bringing

Yelp
Honest Grill serves high quality BBQ in a modern, black, sleek interior. Bonus - all of their tables are booths. They had a limited selection of banchan compared to other places, but their meats were the highlight. Service was very attentive and cooked our meat well! It's pretty pricey here for KBBQ but well worth especially for special occasions (or if you just have money like that).

Yelp
Clearly the place to ball out and dress up. The service is fine and explanations of how different this is from regular, casual KBBQ were nicely done. Personally, this was a one and done experience for me, but it's worth a try just to see the difference. Opting for the signature beef guide to try the brisket, skirt, short rib, and marinated rib finger, the flavors were great. Nothing exceptional, but it was just really delicious KBBQ. The kimchi complemented the meal perfectly. The other bacchan were good. I think I simply associate dry aged steaks as an American style of cooking, so it's just a personal preference for me. I guess the pricing matches the quality, but I just prefer a simple KBBQ style instead of an upscale thing. It was a fun experience.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday after noon. This place is located in the middle of an outdoor strip mall so there's lots of parking to go around. I was surprised to find out that this was more of a fine dining restaurant than your topical bbq joint. That being said with the extra service came with a higher price tag, which I didn't mind at all because the quality of the food here was good and the service was on point. I really enjoyed how the waiter would come by often as check up on us, and they cut and cook your meat for you here. I really enjoyed the raw beef tar tar, and the scallops which were nice and big. They also have aged beef here which is not common at lower bbq joints which I enjoyed. I think if you're looking for a date night this would be a nice place to go, as it wasn't too loud and I didn't see any kids around.

Yelp
The food was great but the service was top tier. Anthony N took great care of us and we are def coming back !

Yelp
So annoyed by this restaurant waitresses. I love the food there but every single time those waitresses give me the worse vibes. Their extra friendliness towards men is absolutely disgusting and makes me, my family & friends very uncomfortable. This past visit one of the waitress came to our table many times for no reason just checking on my husband, kept smiling at him and only asking him if he needs anything. While our main server was keeping things in check. This is not the first time it happened before. My friends in past had the similar complaints about these girls being extra friendly to their spouses and not making eye contact to the ladies. It's just makes the whole experience less enjoyable! Sad because we love the food. I would say Ladies Do Not Bring your men because you will leave unhappy!!

Yelp
Decided to try this place out again with my partner and my opinion has changed from the first time I went. My partner and I decided to get the pork set and everything was great! My top favorite from the set was definitely the jowl and the pork neck! I also liked how they provided salt only to really let the meat shine. We also shared the corn cheese and soybean stew. I wished the soybean stew had more toppings inside. Flavor wise it was good but majority of the soup was the broth and needed more veggies and tofu. The yukuoe here was a good balance of sweet and savory. We went on a wednesday night and it wasnt too busy. Service was attentive when needed.

Yelp
Unplanned trip to this spot for kbbq for my partner's birthday as the previous spot we went to is fully reserved and we were planning to do walk in. This is slightly far out from DC metropolitan area but well worth the drive out here for premium cuts of meat that's delicious and served with a wide array of banchan. We got the honest guide - 3 sets of pork and 3 sets of beef for a party of 6, and we were stuffed to the brim. There is even someone cooking for you and the ventilators at the side help to shade you from getting the oil and grease. This is the place to go to if you want kbbq but a more bougie version.
google avatar

Angelynn J.

Yelp
This place was so good. I really enjoyed the experience and the food. Everyone was very kind. The restaurant was so clean. Even though you need a reservation we were still lucky enough to be seated as a walk in. The food was very good. I love how different their cheese corn is from everyone else's. It was really good. Using the Yelp app when I checked in I got a free soda; remember to check in when you visit too.

Yelp
Maybe we came on an off day but this kbbq was very disappointing. Firstly our grill was cold the entire time. The server had a hard time lighting the grill which was a bad sign. The fire never got hot enough and all the meat cooked super slowly. Secondly, the server seemed inexperienced in kbbq cooking. She looked confused trying to cook our meal. Overall, the quality of meat was good but for this price point, I was expecting a better experience. I have several spots in mind I would choose over this. Not sure I'll be coming back here unless someone makes me. Not impressive at all.

Yelp
An honest review for a Honest Grill serving honestly highly quality meats! Honest Grill differs from most Korean BBQ restaurants in the area by providing an elevated kbbq experience through a menu providing plenty of combination sets or a la carte options. We ordered the premium beef guide for 4 people which 3 hungry guys were able to finish and be entirely stuffed. The guide included Dry Aged Ribeye, Ribeye Cap, Short Rib, Marinated Beef Galbi, vegetables, soybean soup, steam egg, and a variety of fresh banchan. The sides were decent but what really shined was the beef. My favorite cuts by far were the dry aged ribeye and short rib. It was my first time trying dry aged steak and I highly recommend it if you haven't! The dry aging process really does cultivate a unique taste, making the flavors of the meat far more concentrated, along with tenderizing the meat. Still nowhere near Wagyu but a solid second. Service was attentive and the waiter would come by often to refill drinks and banchan but also assist in cooking/cutting the meat. Typically we like to cook our own meat but with the more expensive cuts we let the waiter cook and they came out perfect. The ambiance is great for a celebratory dinner with friends and family or a date night! Would recommend the place for the dry aged meats alone.

Yelp
We read the reviews and came in with high expectations. We called the pork & beef guide. The dining experience was rather long (45minutes). The grill did not seem like it was well heated and it took a while for even just the beef briskets to get cooked. The quality of the cuts were somewhat mediocre for me and nothing really stood out. The banchans leaned more towards the sour and salty side. The regular salad and the scallion salad were great. Now for the service, our server was very sweet. Unfortunately, half of marinated cuts were burnt when the server came back to check on them. Not sure if our server forgot or that the marinate was different this time around so it burned faster. As for the edible cuts, they were extremely salty! We couldn't eat them at all. The server suggested to replace the cuts but at that point we didn't want to eat anymore so we asked for a discount. We were given an employee discount of $10 on a bill of $105 which is not that much but it's fine. Our bill came to $95 after the discount and we wanted to pay with cash. They did not have $5 change for $100 bill! It's one inconvenience after another. I'm unsure how the reviews are so high. We have had our fair share of the KBBQ scene in the DMV and this was extremely disappointing considering the price point. Overall, here are my ratings: Service: 2/10 Food: 2/10 Ambience: 7/10

Yelp
I visited with my family on Friday night, and it was not as crowded as other kbbq places. I would say the price is definitely a lot more expensive than other casual kbbq places around this area since it is an upscale Korean restaurant, but as they advertised, there is less smoke overall (so your clothes are less stinky) and no loud music and a lot of privacy because all seats are in booth. I would say food wasn't best quality considering the price. We had Chadol, NY strip, Galbi, Out Skirt, and Rib finger, all of which 3/4 of the meat was mostly fat and tendons. I mean considering the price, I expected better quality meat than other casual kbbq restaurant like Meokjameokja around the area, so it was little disappointing. However, the flavor and portion of sides were really really good, superb . As a native, if Kimchi is good, that means the restaurant has up to par cooking skills, so I would say despite the meat quality they know how to add flavors to food right. I would recommend this place if you are hosting visitors or business meetings, but for friends hangouts would not recommend. Service is great. They DO grill meats for you so perfect for those new entrants to Korean cuisine.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
Went back for a third time and it was still very tasty but I wish they would cook with more finesse. The beef was cooked like it was an all you can eat joint, just cut and tossed around like a rag doll where each piece was cooking unevenly. I'd prefer if they took some time to sear one side, then sear the other side and cut after.
google avatar

Mia L.

Yelp
Pretty good kbbq place. The places I go to back in LA are better and much cheaper. It ended up being $270 for three people (and we didn't order anything crazy). However, the food was pretty good so I'd maybe just come here for a special occasion. We got the beef tartare, two pork & beef guides, and a ribeye cab. All tasted great. The waiters are the ones who grill for you, unlike other places I've been to which are self-grilling, so keep that in mind.
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
Slow and inexperienced service, salty banchan, but good quality meats. We got the 4-person combo and the meat was great and it was very filling for 4 people. However, the banchan were all pretty salty, even the kimchi. Service was slow. We waited over 15min to put in our order, and finally I just walked around the restaurant until I could find a server. Our server was a little inexperienced. They really overcooked our first meat selection, but once we asked for medium rare, the meat was more properly cooked. Getting the check also took forever. Probably will not return. I think other Korean bbq places have just as good quality, faster service and for a way better price!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a more up-scale feeling Korean BBQ, I would recommend Honest Grill! They have a variety of "special sides" like king oyster mushrooms, brussel sprouts, cheese corn, steamed egg custard, etc. It was great to have some new offerings along with the traditional banchan (side dish) choices like kimchi, pickled veggies, etc. The meats seemed all pretty fresh, and they have at the entrance a window where you can see the aged beef. The meat set we ordered came with more than enough food for 5 people, I believe it came with prime short rib, brisket, pork belly, pork jowl, and one other meat. We even had leftovers to take home. The service was good, the servers were very polite and professional. I was able to use my Yelp Check-in for 1 free soda, which they honored without any delay. Overall, if you're looking for a different experience (in a good way) instead of having bbq meat splattering everywhere and feeling rushed and hectic in an echo-y large food hall like some other All -You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ places, check out HONEST GRILL!! The quality, service, food, and experience is great.

Yelp
Love coming here - the service has been amazing. The waiters/waitresses have always been attentive. Great quality meats, the sides are delicious, basically all of the entrees we have gotten haven't disappointed us. I also recommend trying their cocktails too which are also tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
Obviously very pricey option for kbbq but if you plan on treating yourself or family it's definitely worth checking out! It's clean and very upscale looking. I've gone a few times now and have never felt dissatisfied by the service nor the food! Their corn cheese is very tasty, I could do without the bacon but it doesn't affect the dish. Their lunch option is actually quite nice! I went last week and it was my first time getting their lunch special and I wasn't disappointed! I would highly recommend coming here for a special occasion!
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
This fancy new kid on the block is a bit of fresh air to folks who have been wanting a slightly different vibe in the kbbq scene. Offering various aged meats as well as your traditional banchan, I think that the higher price is justifiable given the ambiance and service. Now, I wouldn't say that every kbbq place needs to be this fancy or can pull this off. But the decor here (a forest of wine bottles) and the right ambiance give it a comfortable vibe while not being too pretentious. I would say that the meat isn't the absolute best I've had, which is why it doesn't deserve a 5. But I would think it's a solid 4 for what it presents.

Yelp
Came in today for lunch Was seated and after 15 minutes menus arrived Waited an additional 10 for drink order to be taken An additional 10 to ask questions and have order taken Right now we Jane been here over 30 minutes and have watched the tables around us get service and we have gotten nothing We're paying for the drinks and leaving I would NOT recommend them... due to I feel we were ignored I stated to our waiter that after sitting for over 46 minutes we were leaving and was told they water cooking our food Well lunch arrived and I'm super disappointed I wanted to cook my own food... I'm over it I was truly upset because the experience I had at my first Korean BBQ was exceptional As I'm writing my review we STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANYTHING

Aleeza W.

Yelp
We got the sweet and spicy chicken along with the beef brisket and marinated galbi. Everything here is such amazing quality and so good wow. I've been here multiple times and they have never failed to disappoint with the service, that oooozie hot cheese corn, and the epic kimchi oh wow. The rice is also perfect and steaming. This place is on the pricey side but definitely worth every dollar for the quality of meat ur paying for.

Yelp
Premium Beef Guide: Dried Ribeye 9/10 Rib Cap 10/10 Short Rib 9/10 Marinated Galbi 8.5/10 Overall the meats were melt in your mouth or easy to chew. It is great, but also about $150. I would definitely do this for another special occasion. I've had the other beef guide and it is still pretty good at a better price point! Banchan - All great and no complaints! Stir fried King oyster mushrooms - Loved the sesame seeds to give a bit of texture on top of the soft mushrooms! Kimchi Jiggae - very tasty and had chunks of meat! The waiter was kind, cooked our meats for us, and answered all questions! This place is a more upscale and modern Korean bbq spot/ fine dining. Great for all celebrations! 10/10 would recommend and will be back again!

Yelp
I came here with my parents and my husband for a celebratory dinner. I can't say enough good things about Honest Grill. If you want a high end dining vibe and kbbq with good service & ambiance, this place is for you. The food, service, and ambiance were all perfect for what we were looking for. My parents don't really like loud environments, but this place had this premium, lounge-vibe, which I would say is extremely rare for a kbbq place. It's perfect for more serious and intimate conversations. We ordered 2 orders each of Beef & Lamb and Beef Special (which comes with various choice meats under the category). The beef tartare and the sides (esp kimchi stew and mushroom) were tasty. My parents said it was the best meat they've had in NOVA, and also said the server cooked the meat perfectly. Thank you Sang for the awesome experience! We will be recommending this place to all our friends and family. Will be back soon!

Yelp
The best Korean bbq. Meat is quality and worth the price. I love the spring onion side dish, it's one of the reasons I love this place. Kids meals are super cute

Yelp
Korean BBQ joint that is slightly more up-scale than most, but that has prices to match Seating is all private, and inside of booths They will actually cook the meat for you Tons of complimentary side dishes. As a whole they were just average, but the cheese corn and Brussel sprouts were fantastic The meat was pretty high quality Also have a-la-carte entrees (and drinks) in addition to their BBQ options

Yelp
My husband and I went here for the first time and decided to go all out and get the premium beef guide. It came with so much meat and side dishes that we couldn't finish it all. The beef tasted incredible and had such a complex flavor profile that it didn't need any sauce at all, and I only put a little salt as recommended. It was cooked to perfection, and most of the meat just melted in your mouth it was that tender. There were sauces that you could dip it in but after trying it by itself and with the sauce (because I love dipping sauces), even I thought it tasted amazing by itself. Definitely worth the extra money. We were given two different salads, one simple lettuce and cherry tomato salad with a sweet dressing and another which tasted more like kimchi to me; I definitely enjoyed the kimchi salad more. We also had pickled veggies, a dish of jalapeños and sweet pickles, slightly different kimchi (I think), Kimchi Stew which was so flavorful, white rice, an egg custard side (which was almost like a fluffy omelette with cheese), and a kimchi pancake with sweet potato and cheese on top. The service was impeccable! We were greeted kindly from the door and our server was polite, knowledgeable, and cooked our food to perfection (unlike most KBBQ places this restaurant offers full service which is nice since I was afraid to cook the meat myself and do it improperly). Everything came out in a timely manner and we weren't rushed through our foods, being given enough time for each dish. The restaurant feels more upscale and I'm glad to have dressed up, although I don't think they would care if we wore more casual attire. Love how cute each table is with their own little stove right in the center, and the cutlery and dishes were so pretty and cute. They give you so much food for your money you could easily share this between four people even though it was only for two. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and would definitely come back in the future.

Yelp
Came here in a group to celebrate a friend's birthday. I'm a huge fan of kbbq, but somehow my experience here didn't hit the spot. Our waitress was excellent and managed our entire party (2 tables) on her own and very efficiently! Of course there were some snafus with a side or two missed, but considering she was juggling a lot, we didn't mind. Though we were surprised she didn't get additional help to serve the tables. The meat quality was good, but was lacking salt and depth in flavor. The sauce tray was also disappointing- it was just salt and honey mustard? Sides were delicious and service abs recommendations by our waitress were good. Honestly, honest grill wasn't for me. Glad I gave it a shot!

Yelp
This is not your typical kbbq place at all! It's feels very fancy and elevated... There's even a complimentary coat check. Our server was very nice and attentive. He poured out the fancy (Himalayan?) salt and their AMAZING house-made sauce for us. He handled everything with diligence and care... We started with the Beef Tartare with Uni. It was delicious and very fresh! But very big portion so I recommend sharing between 3-4 people. Complimentary banchan included kimchi, shredded pink radish, pickled cucumbers, salad, and spicy green onions. We got the Signature Beef Combo for 2 on a Tuesday which is their special that day. It was $70 instead of $90 :-) It came with NY Strip Prime, Outside Skirt, Short Rib, and Marinated Rib Finger (all Certified Angus Beef) and a special side plus kimchi stew (you can choose soybean instead). We got the stir-fried King Oyster Mushroom as our complimentary special side, and that was so simple but so BOMB. Everything was sooo good, and you can tell their meat were made with quality!!

Yelp
If you are seeking traditional Korean bbq, do not come here. I am Korean and saw that this had good reviews so my sisters and I came here on Saturday. Was so disappointed. The waitress was not friendly, although she seemed more agreeable later. They also add automatic 20% gratuity so if service was bad you would still have to give the waiter 20%. The meat quality was good, I have to admit but that's the only good thing about this place.

Yelp
Amazing! Just amazingly elevated Korean BBQ. This place doesn't belong in the shopping center that it is located in. Once we walked in, I almost felt a little underdressed. The dining room had a hint of classy with the wine bottle display and the soothing elegant music. This is definitely different compare to the loud music at most Korean BBQ places. If you want quality and premium beef, this is the place for you. This is the best Korean BBQ in the DMV. It is not AYCE. My husband and I treated ourselves to the premium beef guide for two with the aged rib eye, certified angus beef, rib cap, and marinated beef galbi. It was like beef heaven in our mouths! It came with a special side of choice and the stir fried king oyster mushrooms were buttery, meaty, and flavorful. I literally wanted to try everything else on the menu. But my stomach can only hold so much. The sea urchin and cod roe rice became a favorite instantly. The sea urchin was so fresh and creamy And everything over rice was so comforting. I would definitely order this dish again but I know I would want to try other dishes. Service was on point. Attentive, perfect timing with the grill, charismatic, and professional. This place is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the area as I am very impressed with their food, service, and atmosphere.

Yelp
We've been dining here for a few years now and the flavors and service have been consistent. This is certainly not your traditional KBBQ restaurant. Honest Grill provides an elevated experience with high quality ingredients. Everything from the sides to the meat exhibit balanced flavors - nothing is overpowering. On top of that, the service is excellent. This may very well be the best KBBQ restaurant in Northern Virginia.

Yelp
This is a surprise find for me. Despite having tried many premium grills in NYC, Chicago and LA, Honest Grill definitely stands out. Some may say they are expensive for the NOVA kbbq peers, but given the quality of meat from high end distributors (yes multiple from pretty well-known farms), I would say it is pretty cheap. I dare to say they are pretty close to COTE in NYC at a significant discount. I come here almost every time I visit my parents and they never disappoint on service. The restaurant is clean and good air suction built into the grill.

Yelp
This place has rave reviews and is worth every single one of them! We got lucky and happened to come on a Tuesday and we had no idea there is a great Tuesday special!!! We got the signature option with 4 meats and 2 fancy sides for a discount. My friend treated me as a belated bday dinner and it was one to remember. The cuts were so delicious and flavorful. No random pieces of crunchy fat or other low quality surprises. The shisito peppers were very tasty with the meats. Once the server came out with our plates and the portion of meat, I was worried it wouldn't be enough....but BOY we were stuffed! The bacon corn cheese was also a highlight! Highly recommend the meat packages versus the a la carte. Restaurant was fancy with a nice entrance and completely unexpected in the standard strip mall....ambiance was cozy and not too loud like meat project or iron age which can make it hard to chat with a pal over a calm meal. A little more uppity and pricey but well worth it for a major upgrade in quality and experience!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Plenty of parking is available. B made reservations and so we were seated immediately. The host was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is incredibly clean and organized. Restrooms in the back are also very clean. Our server was wonderful. He was kind, patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our meats were grilled to perfection. Flavors and consistency were on point. All the side dishes were also a hit. Each dish was seasoned well. Quality ingredients are used and you can taste the difference. Honest Grill pays attention to the details and that is greatly appreciated. We had a lovely dinning experience here and can't wait for our next visit!

Yelp
Been here twice. First time was during the pandemic and was pretty impressed with the quality of the meats and service. Recently went back but didn't order any bbq and ordered 2 entrees and... let's see... 1) the server started off friendly but she didn't know squat and said it was only her third shift (ok, understandable - just wait...) 2) we ordered 2 entrees (kimchi jjigae & uni cod roe rice) - kimchi jjigae was straight up sodium overload... couldn't eat more than 2 spoonfuls... 3) server was nowhere to be seen for the rest of the night; including inattentive and nonexistent customer service from the rest of the other servers. just bc our grill wasn't on, they walked past us. Asked for the check which took a long time bc she didn't care to check-in on us as well as the other servers... ok, just bc we didn't order bbq and didn't "spend much", we were completely ignored? we're still paying! just no. no customer should be treated like this. As we were walking out, the bartender & manager were chatting away and didn't say a word when we were exiting. Never coming back again and have told all my friends not to go bc of the experience. Like another reviewer said, it seems like all they care about is money. Yuck. Good luck, Honest.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite Korean BBQ place in terms of the quality of the beef. I've dined here twice and both times got the premium beef guide for two. It's priced at $149.99 but so worth it. You get Dry Aged Prime Ribeye, Ribeye Cap, Prime Short Rib and Marinated Beef Galbi as well as one soup and one side dish. They train their staff right as we requested medium rare on our Dry Aged Ribeye and it was cooked as requested. This is the steak to get here- this is the bomb. If ordering a la carte, it's $79.99. I didn't even use their sauce or ssamjang, just dipped the beef in the pink Himalayan salt - it really enhances the flavor of the beef. The rest of the meats was great, just hard to compare with the Dry aged ribeye. The ribeye cap, premium short ribs and Galbi was very tender and almost melt in your mouth. Their doenjang jjigae was one of the best ones I've had at a Korean restaurant which was included in the beef premium guide. I wish they had more Banchan selection like regular kimchi, some spinach and potato salad. If you dine during lunch, they have good lunch specials for $19.99 and the all their beef/pork guides are 10% off. I highly recommend this place. Make reservations through Resy.

Yelp
Great quality and value KBBQ! All the tik toks we saw for this location did not lead us astray. The restaurant has a lot of seating and the food is coursed out and comes rather quickly. We did the 5 person combo with NY strip and pork then for sides our favorite was the cheese corn. We ate too fast to take photos but will certainly go back.

Yelp
Honest Grill was a pleasant experience! We came here for an early dinner, and we were seated right away - I highly recommend in making reservations on Resy, just in case, as this place can get busy. The menu is pretty straightforward - they offer various appetizers, signature combos of meats, a la carte items, rice bowls, stews, and sides. We ordered: +AN a la carte order of the Prime Short Rib - if you're looking for ggot sahl, this place seems to be the closest to the best of what you can get in the NoVA area - the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender and juicy! +a la carte orders of the Marinated Beef Galbi - the marinade was more on the sweeter end; we were extremely surprised at the generous amount of the galbi - it seems that the meat is cut thicker here; it really was a lot of meat! +Stir-Fried Garlic Brussel Sprouts - the hubs really enjoyed this dish; I liked the whole roasted garlic cloves; great to dip in the ssamjang Make sure you ask for raw slices of garlic and ssamjang with your meal, as these do not come automatically with; lettuce is also available, too. We were seated in a nice booth, which was comfortable. The restaurant itself gives off a classy, sophisticated type of a KBBQ dining ambience, which would be great for get-togethers and date nights. Service was attentive and great! I really liked the attention to the detail in which the cooked meat plate was swapped out because it was getting a little 'liquid-y/bloody' from the medium-rare meats - really appreciated that! Don't sleep on their desserts - their cheesecake with the chocolate drizzle was not too sweet and a great way to end a meal. Try Honest Grill out - you'll really dig their quality of meats! +generous amount of high quality meats +comfortable seating +friendly and welcoming service +reservations accepted +plenty of parking in plaza lot

Yelp
There's a large selection of kbbq places to choose from in the nova area so the competition is tough, but honest grill might be a cut above the rest. First off, the ambiance here is different from your typical kbbq place, it's definitely more upscale and nicely decorated. You sit in a nice plush booth. And the selection of dishes are nicer than your average place too. The quality of the meat cuts also do not lack, making this a top contender for my go-to kbbq spot. Firstly, the banchan is DELICIOUS! We don't love kimchi but we were raving about it afterwards. And we even asked for refills for a lot of the side dishes and finished everything. As 4 people, we got the Signature beef guide for 2: brisket with Kimchi Stew and Stir fried garlic Brussels sprouts sides. All the meats were so delicious and tender and flavorful and cooked on the grill for you by the server. There's 2 different sauces/dips provided to season it to taste. The kimchi stew is on another level here. It seems like there's tomato which brings another level of complexity to the dish which really makes it stand out. For extras, we ordered the spicy mixed buckwheat noodle and the sea urchin and cod roe rice. Both spectacular. The sauce for the buckwheat noodle is on the side so you adjust the spice level. It's delicious. And the urchin and roe rice is magnificent. I love the sauce and the addition of the seaweed; when you get a bite of everything it works all so well together. It's one of the best sea urchin dishes I've had. All the components compliment each other perfectly. You must try it. Everything was so delicious that the workers even commented on how empty our dishes were when they came to clear our table. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Yelp
High end a la carte Korean bbq restaurant. We tried the dry aged beef choice for two and we were blew away how good everything good. Their banchan are also great! Overall this place is our top bbq in nova
