Life changing donuts

This little cafe in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, is pretty busy. We tried the chocolate donut, but it was more like a dense cake donut with a greasy feel—definitely not the light and fluffy kind. It also tasted a bit old. The cappuccino, on the other hand, was creamy and tasty. The cafe is self-serve for donuts, pastries, and coffee, so you grab what you want. You can sit inside or outside, but most people prefer hanging outside to enjoy their food and watch the passersby. Service is friendly and good.

Google
Awesome small goodies shop on the Deep Cove strip. Amazingly light, fluffy doughnuts. Not to mention good breakfast items, soup, drinks, and so on. Worth visiting if coming to Deep Cove, the doughnuts are a must! I came here last month to get Chocoreo doughnuts for my mum and I. We both loved them. Great texture, sweet yet not too sweet, and fluffy. Staff were kind, patient, and clear. They seem to enjoy it, which is great!

Google
A must stop if you are in Deep Cove. The highlight are the donuts. These are not the light fluffy kind, but are denser cake-like round balls, with a slightly greasy texture. Various toppings to help mix the fat and sugar. I got the maple bacon but there are usually a handful of flavours available. Other food options are OK, nothing special. The sandwiches are made with fresh light rye sourdough bread that is made each day. I got a corn beef with Swiss. It's usually very super busy but the line moves fairly quickly. There are a few tables outside as well as a seating area inside to the right of the ordering area. If you order sandwiches or soup, they will bring to your table when ready, otherwise it's self-serve for the donuts, pastries, and coffee.

I travelled from Ontario to VAN and my first request was to come here. Truly these are the best doughnuts I’ve ever had! They’re soaked in a honey drizzle making them juicy yet not too dense, and the flavours that they have is incredible. The maple and bacon is a must try! We got maple, original, cinnamon sugar and coconut. They were still warm when we got our dozen. Love the sandwich options and coffee is also wonderful. Worth the price and the 40 min drive we made from DT Van. Recommend going to the pier and walking around. This place is so great you need to put this in your to do list and make a day of it! Can’t wait to come back

Google
Honey’s is a Deep Cove classic and for good reason. The doughnuts are gloriously oversized, golden, and just the right kind of indulgent. Whether you’re fresh off the Quarry Rock trail or just strolling through the village, this is the kind of spot that makes the whole outing feel special. The honey doughnut lives up to the hype, it’s soft, sweet, and somehow nostalgic. Worth visiting if you’re in North Vancouver.

Google
Tried their coconut and maple bacon donuts! Soo good. Even the maple backn which I wasn’t sure about. Their style of donut is very very heavy and dense and oily but very delicious and I loved it. I can easily have one as a whole meal. Also had a coffee and it was so good! Tried their mocha and regular latte. Very popular spot though so be aware

Google
This is the infamous nostalgic donut place in Deep Cove. During holidays in any season there is a line up that stretches almost a block. The timer on my phone showed 45 mins! 😆 They ran out of the maple bacon donut that day. So I got the honey glazed donut. Wow there's alot of weight to this donut, its heavy. If there's something to be said about being memorable, this would be it. Gat dang these donuts are heavy! We then tried the chocolate glaze and the maple glaze. Every bite we took the chocolate or maple cracked, peeled, and fell to the floor. Was it good? Yes. Was it worth the wait? I would still say so, yes. Would I come back? Yes. This heated patio was very dog friendly and the owner seems to enjoy the company of a dog.

Google
Great spot to grab a bite after a hike! The donuts are big and super tasty. Not gonna lie, you can definitely feel the sugar and oil, but hey, you’ve earned it after that mountain walk. Expect a bit of a line since it’s a popular place. On hot days, being inside can get pretty warm, so maybe keep that in mind.

Yelp
Some of the best donuts in town. Don't let it fool you, the original is a crowd pleaser. One bite and you'll be hooked

Yelp
this is the 2nd time i have visited this restaurant and i feel that it is a bit overrated We ordered a BLT sandwich, a chicken corn chowder and a maple glazed donut the BLT was decent average BLT sandwich. But i am unsure why the bacon and tomates were cut into smaller pieces and they keep falling out when we tried to eat the sandwich The chicken corn chowder tasted good but we all felt that it was quite salty. their signature items were their donuts. But i personally am not a fan of the texture of the donuts. it is quite crumbly and has a strong taste of baking soda. give the price is fairly high for a donut. i would not try their donuts again service wasnt inviting as well. the lady and the gentleman at the cash registers didnt have an inviting friendly tone and rushing everyone through (there was a long lineup given the tight space)

Yelp
I used to come here for a doughnut and coffee every time I was in Deep Cove but I will no longer support Honeys. The elderly woman at the til is so rude and this seems to be racially motivated. After seeing my Instagram post the owner reached out to me and apologized but also made a ton of non relevant excuses. If you look at Yelp and Google reviews, this poor treatment of customers has been ongoing for years. If you are a person of colour, expect to be greeted with a sour face and screamed at if you ask a question. This time the coffee lacked flavour and mostly tasted like milk. While I like their original doughnut, sometimes it tastes too much like baking soda.

Yelp
Located in crescent of the Deep Cove, HDG is a favourite among locals and tourists. Popped in after a hike to Quarry Rock. Bit of a crowd rush. The queue got a bit longer as the fellow before me had a bunch of joiners. The server was patient and friendly. Had the chocereo and a cup of coffee. The donut is more cake and doughnut. still it was delicious. Coffee wasn't bad either. Plus the fantastic view. Great experience.

Yelp
Taste it no bad at all But the front door is very bad plzzz watch your step before you guys is go in !!!!!

Yelp
An iconic spot in beautiful Deep Cove, North Vancouver, Honey Doughnuts is a worthwhile destination for a sweet treat. Expect to wait in line, but trust the process. Their cakey doughnuts are made fresh from the frier. They don't need all the pizzazz of toppings as their chocolate dip or classic glaze are plenty tasty, the perfect snack to enjoy wandering the quaint neighbourhood. It's usually very busy inside, especially on the weekends, so I would suggest ordering to-go so that you can revel in your delicious doughnut in peace.

Yelp
Nice coffee place with options of food. This is the cafe with amazing options for doughnuts. This restaurant is cute inside and there are a lot of options for breakfast. FYI: this is a busy place, plan in advance if you want breakfast! Sometimes worth the drive for few doughnuts, they always so fresh and warm. My favourite is the honey and maple bacon. Loved the experience at this place. Hope you enjoy too. Cheers

Yelp
I don't understand why people go there. The donuts and greasy, heavy, with too much dough and not enough topping. Probably the least tasty donuts I've tried since arriving in Canada. I'm sure some people love it that way, but I don't. Try it at your own risk!
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for lunch after our hike. It was busy. We ordered a maple glazed donut, a cinnamon sugar donut, a Cesar salad and a tuna melt. They were good. A waitress swung by to talk to us. She's very friendly and made some recommendations on where to go or eat in Vancouver. Overall, it's a pleasant first visit.

Yelp
The best thing about this place is its rustic, Old World vibe.. from the old fashioned chalkboard menu, to the random little antique knick knacks.. it feels comfy and familiar... the open air patio and stellar location are also pluses.. service was not great.. the counter lady seemed to be in a state of constant irritation.. the donuts were just okay.. they're cake donuts that have enough leavening agent to make them fluffy.. they feel heavy and greasy from the dark brown, oily exterior.. it needs some vanilla or lemon in the donut batter to take away the doughy flour aftertaste, in my opinion.. cold brew was watery but hubby said the iced mocha was good.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Monday midday just to grab a doughnut. Incredibly cramped, and the folks behind the counter were incredibly unpleasant and couldn't shoo you out fast enough, which is fine... but at least do it with a smile instead of a grunt. Doughnut was good, it is a little more dense and moist than the average cake doughnut.
google avatar

Jeanna K.

Yelp
Doughnuts !!! Love the classic honey! Go early as they sell out and there's typically a line up. But worth the wait!

S P.

Yelp
Saw the buzz and the lines at this store and decided to try it out. We bought one of their classic honey donuts and to me it was more oil than honey.. It had a very oily taste which I did not like. I

Yelp
Decent donuts and they also serve decent sandwiches. We ordered their breakfast sandwich with bacon and also a turkey sandwich on a vegan nut free bread and my kids enjoyed both. It gets really busy on a weekend. In fact, even on a week day it is pretty busy there. But the lines aren't too long and wait time not too bad to get your food. The ambience is great inside the shop. Also, nothing can beat the location.

Yelp
A friend of mine took me here. We waited in line for a few minutes, and came away with 6 donuts and 2 cups of coffee. I have to say, the best, most decadent, real donuts I've ever eaten. They were hot, fresh and dense, not like anything I've eaten before. The perfect pairing for the coffee. Kate Winslet wrote a wonderful review, but she didn't capture the essence of these donuts. I live in Los Angeles, and I'm goin back to Honey doughnuts next time I'm in Vancouver, BC
google avatar

Melanie E.

Yelp
We came here just for the donuts. They're still fresh and tasty after all these years! If you like the 'cakey' type of donuts, this is the place for you. They make them in batches. It's tastiest to eat them warm, straight out of the oven. You may have to wait for your favourite donut to be made. The place gets crowded and parking is a challenge. Atmosphere: 4/5 (best to walk down to the park and enjoy the scenery) Food: 4/5 (rating only on the donuts) Parking: 1/5 (Best to park a couple of blocks away at the parking lot near the park)
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! When I first came here a couple of years ago, it was the perfect place to eat outside! This time we sat inside and it's just as lovely! They have lots of unique decorations. It's very American-feeling. Their donuts are delicious and we got their Maple flavored one today. Service is great! Also ordered the cinnamon bun which was lacking in frosting but good. We also got their yogurt, oatmeal, and eggs with bacon and potatoes. All were delicious and very filling!! Definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by after hiking quarry rock and had the best breakfast tacos! Tacos were fresh and had a good amount of filling on each! Also had a honey's cinnamon sugar donut which was a treat

Yelp
Famous tasty cake style(?) donut place in Deep Cove village. Parking is available in the Panorama Park lot. This thing fills up though really early in the summer though, so come early. The donuts are nice and moist, which basically means they're probably saturated with oil. Try not to think about it while scarfing them down. I tried a plain one and a (maple?) glazed one. Definitely pretty tasty. I must say they're one of the better donuts in town. Worth a try for sure if one is in the area.

Yelp
I always like to get the original honey donut in the morning shortly after opening hours as the donuts are usually still warm. Not today though. Both the maple bacon and honey donuts are room temperature (aka cool) but thankfully not dry or hard. Just a bit disappointed they are not warm at 630 am. Sometimes I wonder if they do sell day old donuts. What I didn't like about today's visit was the way they upsell the stuff without letting me know. So the menu board indicated the donuts at $3.50, even fit maple and chocolate. Somehow the maple bacon was keyed in at $4.25. And when I ordered a tall coffee ($3), I was shown a cup and asked if that was ok. I didn't know any better and said ok. I was charged $3.50 for that. Only later when I was trying to do the math after leaving then I realized I was charged the grande cup. The staff should be more ethical in saying the cost of that cup shown. And why show me a cup when I already said "tall" as written in their menu board. Now I regret not taking a pic of that. I usually don't bother so much with knowing the prices and just tap my card for payment. But with the current high inflation and rising goods cost, everyone is feeling the pinch. While I can still afford these treats, it's the way it is done which I am unhappy about. Now I really should request for all till and itemized receipts at all shops. Who knows where else have I been upsold unknowingly? Frankly I only come here out of habit whenever I'm in deep cove as it's also the only coffee shop open at 6 am. The service at 6-7 am is usually bad so I don't even comment on that. I figured it's too early for them to want to be there since they are always quite surly then. The younger staff on duty in late morning to afternoon have more cheerful and better attitudes. But today the guy didn't even bother to acknowledge me at all.

Yelp
Tell me whyyyyyy....Why do people stand nearly an hour in line in the summer for this place? Are the donuts really that good? Are they really that phenomenal? I'm sorry but not in my opinion. It's an outdated cafe with an outdated menu with mediocre food and everyone rushes over for the donuts. I am not the hugest sweet tooth but there are donuts that I like (example Cartems) but these are not it for me. They are greasy, oily and enormous. The maple bacon is quite off-putting as it's just straight bacon chunks thrown on top where a crumble or a caramelized bacon might be better to bring an aspect of sweetness out of the meat instead of just relying on the maple...Sorry honey, I love your location but that's nearly about it.

Yelp
Indulging in a sweet symphony of flavors at Honey's Doughnuts in Deep Cove! Maple Bacon Doughnut & Chai Latte The maple bacon doughnut is a must try 10/10 The chai latte was packed with flavour but wasn't too sweet The service was fast and there was plenty of seating available. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Parking 3/10 Ambiance 8/10

Yelp
Great food & amazingly friendly owners. Grabbed breakfast (to go) as we headed out for some kayaking. Coffee is solid, maple doughnuts were amazing and the breakfast sandwich was the perfect portable snack to take on the boat for an early lunch. The coffee bar next door (Buzz) is also super amazing. Ashak makes an amazing latte (hot) and jazz in the air helps customers chill out and relax.

Yelp
Donuts are dense and flavourful... classic donut was tasty and refreshing from toppings or sugar. I heard the Cinnamon Sugar and Coconut Cinnamon Sugar are the first to sell out, so get there early as they stop making it an hour or so before closing. Three for $11 Near Deep Cove Park in North Van... limited parking near the park/beach. Bring chairs or a cloth (we bought a 7' x 4' tarp from Dollarama for $4 bucks) to sit on/grass.

Yelp
I heard good things about this place, so I was expecting light, airy, fluffy Krispy Kreme-esque donuts. Honey doughnuts, are thick, dense, almost cake-like. They stand just as tall as they are wide. They are thick. Like THICCCCCC. Nicki Minaj status. And they taste just as good as they look. I had the maple bacon, cinnamon, and something with the Oreos on the top. It was like dessert for breakfast.

Yelp
I already loved the place when someone said its kate winslets favourite cafe in town. Went there and knew why it is !! The coffee is great, the donuts are yummy. The place is busy and is at a great location. No wonder kate loves ot here
google avatar

Chelsey H.

Yelp
This review is mostly for the doughnut and it gets a 5/5!!! We got some fresh ones the other day and,... Oh my goodness, it's hot, fluffy but not too fluffy, but not dense like cake, and so delicious. I'm not a big sweets person (savoury for the win), and I could probably eat 4 of these doughnuts before tapping out of gluttony. Their line up was a bit chaotic and it felt a little unclear who to order to for a brief moment, and after being rung up at one till, you are brought to another to pay with card. I don't know if that's always the case but it was when I was there. Service was quick.

Dhayven K.

Yelp
Solid donut however the woman who served it to us was quite stand off ish and seemed annoyed as we used a coupon for free donuts.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
We hiked to Quarry Rock and made it down just before closing for the honey doughnuts. They were a delicious treat after our hike and we got some extras to have the next day. Next time, I'd love to try a fresh batch straight out of the oven as it seems like they're even better.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
This has been on our "must visit" list for many years as we recently moved to Vancouver. The lineup is very intimidating from afar, but once we stood in line, - it moves very quickly as the staff and service staff are very efficient with everyone's orders. Whether you are getting something savoury like their doughnuts or lunch or brunch item, you have choice to get it to go, or enjoy inside the cafe or outside amongst their heated patios. We had a mexican breakfast sandwich, a Mexican Chilaquiles, and a corned beef sandwich with Swiss cheese. For dessert, we had an assortment of doughnuts to go. Only the last two doughnuts made it for photos as we devoured a box of them before we had a chance to take a picture. I recommend the drive to Deep Cove for the food, the coffee, and also an opportunity to hike Quarry Rock to work off the calories. xox

Yelp
I tried the original honey flavor donut and the coconut cinnamon flavor and they were both very satisfying! In terms of flavor I did find those 2 particular flavors a bit similar, except for the added coconut flakes. The donuts are a bit oily though so grab some napkins before digging in!
google avatar

Hana T.

Yelp
Popular donut spot in North Vancouver. I've heard lots of good things about this store. We were walking around and so many people were holding bags from this store. We tried it and it was okay? It's quite oily and tastes like fried oil. I wasn't a big fan of it. The dough is on the drier end as well. For the price, it's not bad as it is also quite big. The maple icing was VERY sweet.
google avatar

Drea S.

Yelp
My patient came in with assorted donuts and said these were her favourite!! We passed it around and they're just delicious!!! I can't even begin to tell you how happy they make my belly! The chocolate is semi sweet with crispy toppings and a delicious dough! I can't get enough!!! It's easy to sit and just finish in one take!!! It's a place I'd love to check out in person!!

Feiyan Z.

Yelp
The lady behind the counter is terrible! If your expectation is just a normal/average fast food service, you will still be disappointed. This is a place for one time deal, the restaurant's owner doesn't appear to expect return customers. We came to Vancouver for a short visit, and went into this place as some friend heard about it as an internet celebrity shop. We ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 chicken sandwiches and 1 ham and cheese sandwich. I was charged for 4 sandwiches. I didn't realize it until they brought over 4. So, I told the waitress that we only ordered 3. Then I was asked to go inside to talk to the lady behind the counter. It's such a simple thing and it happens a lot everywhere in restaurants. However, the lady behind the counter repeated using her sharp voice to tell me that I ordered 2 and 2 and she had repeated to me when I ordered the food. One sandwich is only 10 bucks or so, I really don't care about it. The attitude and the way the restaurant owner (I assume the lady is the owner or related to) handles the matter shocked me, very disappointed. I have had really good experience with Canada and hospitality in Canada in all times except this time.

Marko K.

Yelp
First time stumbled upon this amazing place for breakfast and i would highly recommend it. the food was amazing and the place is very charming. the owner came out from the back and greeted everyone which gives the whole place a very welcoming vibe. if you're in the neighborhood, pop by for breakfast or lunch and you'll be coming back cause I know we will!
google avatar

Dylan H.

Yelp
Holy cow. Best doughnut ever. Especially the honey flavor one. If you love doughnut and cake, this is a perfect hybrid. They need to open one in nyc!
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Being a doughnut fan, after hearing about Honey doughnuts we had to stop in and give them a try. While the line up is long to get in and order, it moves pretty fast and really doesn't take very long. The staff is friendly and helpful. Initially we were only going to purchase 2 doughnuts, but seeing the selection, we decided to buy a box to share. There were so many choices it is tough to choose which is a favourite but I would say the chocolate glaze, others in our party voted for the maple bacon (made with real chunks of bacon on top). Coffee is good and there are also great sandwiches and a breakfast menu for take out. When your in Deep Cove, be sure to stop by.

Carol W.

Yelp
Doughnuts are great, not covered in a lot of glaze. Not too sweet and perfect for sharing (or not!). Drove all the way from Horseshoe Bay to Honey's just for the doughnuts.
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
Great cafe / bakery in deep cove. I love their maple bacon doughnut. Variety of other flavours available. Service is always great and quick, despite the line ups on weekend - it's popular! I always come here when I'm hiking in the area for a treat and it never disappoints.

J M.

Yelp
Super personable staff, made the best dirty chocolate chai latte I've ever had. Their chocolate dipped doughnut was excellent but even better than that were the small batch deep cove made "Charlie Girl" soft caramels. They were absolutely to die for! The ambiance of the cove cannot be beat. Any summer night is perfect
google avatar

Elmer P.

Yelp
Food is delicious and amazing please stop you won't regret, this place is worth the stop
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
I have heard a lot of good things about Honey Doughnuts. It is a must visit doughnut place when you are in deep cove. My colleague bought a dozen doughtnut to share. They were unique. They are fluffy and seems to be taller than other doughnuts I had before. Its like a round giant ball. or two doughnuts stacked into one making one doughnut. The glaze was pretty good. It was sweet but a bit messy to eat. Flaky for sure. It was not too sweet or too bland. I liked it.
google avatar

Lindsay C.

Yelp
Honey donuts the only donut worth getting. Came on a rainy day and tried some of the other flavors but the honey donut was the best one. Slightly sweet, crispy, and doughy. If you're in the area it's worth a stop but I wouldn't drive out of my way for these. Located in a cute neighborhood, on a non-rainy day it would be nice to walk around.
google avatar

Jose D.

Yelp
Probably the most overrated doughnut in Vancouver besides the ones they sell in Granville Island. The only real choice here is the honey doughnut because it manages to retain some moisture. The rest are just meh and some, like the chocolate one, plain bad. The chocolate is a brown molten crayola flavor. Their coffee is decent . Worth the line? Hardly. But there's no other choice around and it's part of the Deep Cove ritual to stop here . The day another shop with decent pastries comes around it might finally die

Zach N.

Yelp
If you don't value customer service, this is a great place to stop! The donuts were not good enough to make up for the attitude!
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
"I pine for Honey's Doughnuts in Deep Cove" - Kate Winslet * Now I pine too - and for good reason
google avatar

Christy P.

Yelp
These donuts were bomb. I tried the honey and maple, they were so fluffy. Parking was painful though as a non-local, got take-away, actually had to drive as my friend ordered as I couldn't find parking. It was a beautiful Saturday morning so what can you do.
google avatar

Marianne C.

Yelp
The shop is very busy most of the time and the inside of the store is packed. Ordering can be quick though if you already know what to order. They have outdoor/patio seating which would be nice for relaxing on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The first time I had their donuts, I understood what the hype was all about! I ordered the chocolate, and it's almost like cake / bannock in texture, but the flavor was not too sweet. It's dense and filling. Ever since, Honey Doughnuts has been a must stop after a hike at Quarry Rock!
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Finally got an opportunity to stop at Honey Doughnuts and glad I could experience what so many before me have raved about. The location in Deep Cover is perfect if you are on the water or hiking Quarry Rock...and pretty much everyone visiting Deep Cove is aware of Honey Doughnuts, hence the line ups. The coffee was ok...nothing special. But I came for the doughnut so this review is really about their classic doughnut. It is a unique tasting doughnut, almost like it was double fried...it reminded me more of an apple fritter than a doughnut/donut. This is more evident when you examine the doughnut after your first bite. I did like the crispiness of the outer doughnut and it was quite tasty...just a wee bit too greasy for my taste. While it was a positive food experience and I am glad I can say I had the classic Honey Doughnut, I have no plans to return.
