Portland Cafes Where You Can Camp Out and Work

"This Central Eastside vegan cafe is a remote worker’s dream: Customers sip on cereal-infused lattes lined up at three long communal tables with floor outlets, with a printer available for customer use. Visitors can expect Cave Painter Coffee espresso beverages, specialty lattes, and a variety of tea and non-coffee drinks. There’s even a food menu for those wanting more than just a caffeine boost, with things like burritos and sandwiches. Garage doors on either side open to patio seating in the summer, but all winter long, there’s ample space inside." - Rebecca Roland, Asia Alvarez

Google
Lovely neighborhood coffee shop that has delicious drinks. There were so many that sounded good, it was hard to decide, but the baristas were so friendly and helpful they helped steer me in the right direction. I ended up getting the fruity pebbles latte which is made with milk from fruity pebbles and did not disappoint! There is tons of seating inside if you want to chill on a couch or work at table. Plus they have some lovely outdoor space too so people can enjoy the nice weather. Would definitely come back here for more tasty drinks.

Google
It's a cool big open space. I like that they have some unconventional flavors and combinations. The coffee was good but not all of the flavors were great. Service was good and I really like the space in I would go back and try something different. I also really like the local artist bending machine.

Google
I had the chaga matcha, which was so good! I do think it’s a bit more pricey overall, and I got charged for ‘plastic’ even though my cup wasn’t lol, but it’s all good. The atmosphere is pretty nice, just incredibly full!

Great place to chill and hangout. Amazing coffee. Coconut dream honey latte is 😍😍

Google
Absolutely adore this coffee shop. A very large industrial space that's both spacious and cozy inside and out. Fabulous baristas who are very helpful with the all vegan menu. The curry in a hurry was absolutely divine! We enjoyed a game of chess during our breakfast. Loads of personality and fun here!!

Google
Honey Latte is easily one of the chillest spots to grab coffee on the east side. The baristas make deliciously crafted drinks from lattes to cold brew and even hot tea. There is a variety of seating including a couch, long picnic style tables, and even some booths! Perfect for typing away on your laptop or meeting up with friends. The big space is perfect for hosting events like craft nights or yoga classes. Highly highly recommend stopping in!

Google
super cute place!! i enjoyed the vegan blueberry muffin & moroccan mint rose iced tea. indoor/outdoor seating and plenty of space.

Cindy Morgan

Google
Cashier was pleasant but got a passive agressive attitude from the barista who spent more time visiting with her colleague than actually making the coffee. If they had to get a job anywhere else, they would be attitudinally handicapped. Cups were filled to overflowing so now it’s just leaking out the lid. I was in the service industry for the better part of my life so am willing to overlook some things knowing not everything goes as planned but there is no excuse for intentional incompetence.

Yelp
Five stars because I know there's a consensus. I'm not a big coffee fan but yummy lattes and good flavors. Service was nice and it's a cute spot.

Yelp
Love how this cafe is so community centric and oriented with spacious areas for work and games. A wide variety of drinks and foods to choose from. I love the vending machine with local writers and got myself a book there.

Yelp
PLANT BASED & DAIRY-FREE?!? I'm in heaven! Usually, I have to save an extra breath (and some coins) and ask for a non-dairy milk for my latte, but Honey Latte Cafe saves me that extra breath and lets me keep some pocket change while they're at it. TBH, milk substitutions shouldn't be an extra charge. So, THANK YOU! My go-to order is the HONEY LAVENDER LATTE. Not too sweet just how I like it. My husband loves the COCONUT CREAM HONEY LATTE. I've tried this before, but it's a little too sweet for my tastebuds. There have been some days when they are out of the COCONUT CREAM HONEY LATTE, so it must be a local favorite. I also love ordering their vegan bread/pastries. I've tried the PUMPKIN BREAD, BANANA BREAD, & STRAWBERRY BANANA BREAD, and they were all tasty. My favorite is probably the BANANA BREAD. I am grateful that there are plenty of TABLES and various SEATING ARRANGEMENTS in this cafe, both indoors and outdoors. I never have to worry about not getting a spot when working here remotely. P.S., the longer tables have PLUGS for laptops. This large space also includes a JOURNAL/BOOK VENDING MACHINE which I thought was pretty unique. There are a few BOARD/CARD GAMES available to use. There is also a USED CLOTHING RACK if you're in the mood for shopping. It's honestly a bunch of random things you won't expect to find in a coffee shop, but that's what I love about this spot! I mean, what's more Portland than that? Not giving it the full 5 stars because the baristas don't seem too friendly or inviting. Maybe it's the vibe they're going for? In any case, I still recommend this spot. The yummy drinks, snacks, and huge space, all make up for it.

Yelp
Awesome place, absolutely perfect for having a chill work session. Super cool repurposed industrial space with unique decorations, and the tasty coffee made it all the better. The baristas were prompt in getting the coffee out and I had no complaints there.

Yelp
Great choice of drinks. I had the blackberry lemonade (seasonal special), and it was delicious. I especially liked that it wasn't too sweet. And it was ready for me before I was finished paying. The space is huge, with many good and diverse seating options. Inclusive atmosphere, and diverse seating . So PDX! lol. Street parking was not too bad on a Saturday. Only downfall, I didn't see an outdoor space

Yelp
First time here. Cool vibe and spacious. Really enjoyed my honey latte. Super cool vending machine featuring local authors and artists. Poor marks for ambiance though. The employees played their music pretty loudly, which prevented me from staying as long as I would have liked to get my work finished. Not easy listening type music either. Gave myself a headache trying to drown it out with my own music via headphones before I gave up and left. Not sure if that's the norm but important to know if you need to concentrate. I'll come back but likely only to grab a beverage to go unless this was an anomaly experience in which case I will edit my review!

Yelp
Loved this gathering space. Casual and great for groups but I will say it's cold in there. I got a basic iced oatmilk latte with hazelnut. It had a really great flavor and I took it with me on my drive back to Seattle. Service was awesome. The kindest barista who was friendly and efficient. Even when it got packed at one point.

Yelp
Visiting my daughter and niece in Portland my favorite thing of course is the abundance of delicious coffee shops ! Love this place! Love the atmosphere and the art was fun
google avatar

Sojeong K.

Yelp
Takes forever to order because one barista takes order and makes the coffee. The coffee tastes kinda watered down and lacks flavor. They charged for "plastic" fee when I ordered "for here" and got a mug. Big and spacious, so it's a good place to get some work done or chat. The furnitures are really old and the chairs are coming apart. They play music that's not very fit for a coffee shop.
google avatar

Amayah E.

Yelp
Drink was a bit weak this time. When I said it was stronger last time he said that maybe the barista put more than they were supposed to. weak matcha! And it cost almost $8! I got the chaga matcha and it was so weak. I updated my review to 4 stars because once I mentioned this to the barista he fixed my drink! 4 stars from me I just would like a consistent product :)

Yelp
On a Saturday there was one barista and the place was packed. Waited 20 minutes for a 12 oz iced coffee. A whole group of people waiting in line before me left. That should have been my sign to leave as well. The coffee is not good either. Not worth the wait. Go to coava next door.

Katie T.

Yelp
This place is so beautiful and I absolutely love how spacey it is! It's a great place to study and has lots of seating. There's a water station and good wifi. The drinks have oatmilk as the default milk which is the most beautiful thing on this planet! We tried the cinnamon toast crunch latte and it's like you're drinking warm cinnamon toast crunch - amazing! Absolutely coming again!
google avatar

Ann N.

Yelp
i got their cereal oat milk latte and i opted for the cinnamon toast crunch. i was disappointed because i tasted none of the flavor, it just tasted like a regular latte with no flavoring. luckily, they have an area with a bunch of complimentary add-ons, so i added cinnamon and simple syrup to the latte. it's nice that they had this, but it sucks that i didn't get what i ordered. i came during a flea market, so i can understand if they were busier than usual, but the product i received was not what was advertised. the cafe is a super open space with plenty of seating options. there's lots of natural lighting which was perfect for how sunny it was today. the space is super cute and casual, i can imagine coming here to get some work done. the wait made sense for how busy it was, i just am not sure if there was a mistake with my order or if that was how it was supposed to taste?

Yelp
If you want one of the greatest Lattes known to the world, stop by here and order the COCONUT CREAM HONEY LATTE!!!!!!!!! Nirvana is poured into a glass and handed to you with sweet gracious smiles of you being a customer. The team here not only know how to make a coffee, they're cool, relaxed and pleasing to watch maneuver while serving a perfect coffee. It's a great place to stop by grab a coffee, relax while letting the time go by. I would say check them out as much as you can before the secret is out!

Yelp
Coconut cream honey latte is delicious! My fiancé said it's just the right amount of sweet. I agree. Cute location, seems like a nice place to work remotely. My fiancé loved the chess board.

Yelp
Known for their coffee and it's easy to see why! Super chill place with plenty of seating and space to work or just hang out.

Yelp
Definitely a lot of space to work and do your thing . There's a lot a cool book vending machine! Decent coffee . I had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte . My fault I always forget to say oat unless they ask . Meh it just wasn't inviting or homey .

Yelp
Honey Latte Cafe is a lovely place to get your caffeine fix! The cafe is strictly non-dairy. The menu is filled with fun flavor combinations including Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch! We tried the Honey Latte iced and Fruity Pebble Latte iced. I highly recommend both. The lattes are made with oat milk by default, but the cafe also offers soy and almond milk as options. Drinks can be made hot or iced. I enjoyed that the lattes were not too sweet, yet the flavors really came through. The fruity pebble flavor was subtle and just right. I look forward to trying their others flavors! They offered a few baked goods for sale, including a fruity pebble cookie and a muffin. The indoor cafe space is pet friendly. There were several dog owners in store when we visited. We even saw an adorable cat roaming around. I was very tempted to pet it but, sadly I'm allergic. The cafe even hosts live music, markets, and events from time to time so be sure to check out their Instagram. I plan on visiting again!

Yelp
I wasn't impressed when visiting here yesterday for the first time. The dynamic when walking in wasn't inviting. All the baristas working had 0 customer service. I think having to say hello first as a customer is a no. I ordered there signature honey latte and my bf got a vanilla latte. I wasn't impressed with either drinks. Lattes tasted weak and flavorless. Cashier didn't tell me my total I had to ask the total and handed me no receipt. When I said thank u for our drinks received no response. They need to work on there customer service and current drinks.

Yelp
I find that so many of my accidental finds end up being amazing discoveries and this cafe is certainly one of them! I was in the Buckman neighborhood for an appointment and decided to stop at a nearby coffee shop for some coffee before. Incidentally, I found this place just a few blocks from my appointment and looking at the menu, I was excited to try it out. I'm always a sucker for cafes that have a small, but curated menu and Honey Latte Cafe certainly is one of them. There's not many options to choose from, but each one sounds amazing and well worth a try! I got the honey lavender latte and I was blown away by their ability to balance all the flavors perfectly. I prefer the espresso to be the star of the show, but let the other flavors complement it and this latte certainly delivered! There isn't a punch of sweetness or lavender in this, but a smooth addition to the espresso. I absolutely loved it here and highly recommend!

Yelp
I ordered a cinnamon toast latte and coconut latte to go on a quiet weekend morning. First thing of note - the venue! Normally I'm all about food/drink and food/drink only, but this location was spectacular. A few things stood out, first off that there's a parking lot (+1 to those like me who can't parallel park well!). The cafe itself is quite spacious, they share the space with other tenants but the main portion is occupied by a warehouse, shuffleboard, bike repair area. I saw some flyers that suggest they serve as an arts venue as well, from open mics to concerts. The lattes themselves were unique - both rang in around $5.50-6 for a 12oz which while pricey, seems to be the going rate for coffee nowadays. The cinnamon toast crunch, sadly, did not come with actual cereal bits, but I can understand how that may be unappealing in a drink. Instead they use what I believe to be cereal milk in the latte (note that you can buy cereal milk as its own drink, unique idea!). The coconut cream latte was thick and creamy. Notably both drinks were not overly sweet which I appreciated. I look forward to coming back and trying other drinks!

Yelp
BRUH THAT SHIT WAS ASSSSSS the vegan burrito was literally one of those tiny ass frozen Annie's burritos and when I say tiny I ATE IT IN LIKE 3 BITES BRO don't go here

Yelp
Honey Latte is a cute coffee shop with your typical expensive Portland beverages. They double as a venue that hosts local bands. Unfortunately they have an onerous contract that enables them to keep all of the money the bands bring in, even with ample turnout. In return they provide a mediocre sound system and a single sound engineer who needs the musicians to explain the equipment to them. This place has potential, but is an active detriment to the local music scene per the current arrangement. I hope this place can find a way to do better in the future.

Sierra L.

Yelp
Their honey oat milk latte was good, I've just had better. Pleasant customer service, very spacious, & cute decor.

Yelp
My rating is predominantly for the space. For the same reasons I liked Elevator when it was here, I like Honey Latte. The space is the lobby area of a building that's been converted into mixed-use, with some creative/office type spaces along the east and the west sides of the building. It's large, with high ceilings, some couches and coffee tables on the south end next to a small roll-up. There's a few two-tops near the counter you order at, and the north end has several large tables that could easily seat 6, with outlets built into the tables. The large tables likely are more comfortable for four, especially if they're on laptops and studying/working (which is the crowd that was in there on a Sunday morning). There's a large roll-up at this end that goes out to the building's old loading dock, that now features a bike rack and some Adironacks. They're dairy-free and they have lots of vegan menu options. There's also a cat that roams around. I'm allergic, but with the size of the space, it wasn't an issue. The Americano I had was middle of the road (Cave Painter Coffee). The breakfast burrito was above average - the greens were a bit of a surprise, but worked well. A little hot sauce would have rounded it out nicely, but I didn't see any on the counters, and wasn't bothered enough to ask. Kind of excited to see the space appearing to thrive (it was almost always empty when it was Elevator), and while I liked having the place to myself at times, there's likely a reason why it's changed hands . . .

Yelp
Great spot to study and chill for a while. They have tons of tables and wifi. Just ordered a drip coffee and comes with a refill. Street parking can be tough but it's available. Will have to try the burrito and or cake next time. Looked really good. Open until 6.

Yelp
Been to Honey Latte Cafe a few times. Recently took some friends from out of town there to enjoy their cereal soaked oat milk. I'm giving them 5 stars not because their coffee is the best (not sure I can point to a "best coffee" I've every had) but because of the whole exorcise that you get from them. 1. They place is always clean and the space is super practical and minimal without lots of clutter. It's a space that's good for remote work, studying, or meeting for casual convo. 2. I'm always greeted with friendliness and slight convo. They are very welcoming and seem to love their job and patrons. 3. Though the selection is minimal it makes for an easy order that doesn't have me going crazy with menu choices. 3. The espresso in the lattes is so freaking smooth and blends so well with their non dairy milks. It's also really nice not to have to remember to ask for non-dairy milk as that's all they offer. If you haven't been, check them out!

Yelp
Visited from Miami, FL and stumbled upon this beautiful place. The owner treated everyone so kindly. I complimented how amazing I thought the cookies were and she shared the recipe with me! She went around asking customers how she can make their drinks better if needed. A young girl walked in with her parents and were speaking about how she has a big day coming up and she was scared, the owner gave them everything on the house for the girls bravery! Wow! You do not get this in Miami that's for sure!

Mariah V.

Yelp
Had a very odd experience here. I was excited about a coffee spot open later than others so I thought I'd give it a try. The coffee is decent. Literally everyone in the space looked like they were high. It's not a very inviting space at all. And although the patio tables say no smoking, about 5 people were smoking all around me, I could barely breathe. The saving grace was the barista was very nice. I'm sure this spot is great for some people, just not for me personally. Probably will not be back.
google avatar

Weslie I.

Yelp
ADD it to my TOP THREE favorite places to get coffee. I love love love when you order a latte and can taste all the individual ingredients. The espresso was still the star, complimented by the flavor or the fruit loop cereal milk. Not too sweet. Everything about it was just right. The lavender latte here is by far one of THE BEST I've ever had in my experience. It's so full of flavor yet, again, doesn't take away or distract from the delicate and delicious espresso. yum Yum YUM - 15/10
google avatar

Yelp
A beloved staple for Buckman neighborhood! It has the industrial feel of the area, yet the coziness of the residential neighborhood close by. All of the baristas are sweet and considerate. It's a great, no frills coffee shop for working. I usually get a lavender latte, which I highly recommend. Vegan milk only! I usually stick to oat milk!

Wendell T.

Yelp
I never wanted to try oat milk. But it was delicious. Glad I stumbled in there. Big space.
google avatar

Yelp
The iced honey latte was the best drink I've had in 2021 so far. Bursting with flavor that fills your mouth and leaves a delicate honey aftertaste. Made with Cave Painter espresso and Oatly oatmilk. I seriously can't believe how refreshing this was. The venue is huge, with skylights, ample seating, and a chonkosaurus kitty who visits occasionally.

Yelp
If you're looking for chagaccino's in Portland, this is the place. I get mine decaf with almond milk. I'll opt for hot when it's rainy/cozy out but the iced ones hit. So many health benefits to this drink & they have it down to an art. Plus the convos and good energy that radiates from the staff is an added bonus. Perfect afternoon pick me up place!

Aidan R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the vibe of the coffee shop and was having a great time until I tried to order my drink. I wanted their signature honey latte with whole milk as I'm milk alternative intolerant. They only carry milk alternatives. This was pretty disappointing as I hoped a coffee shop in PDX would be inclusive of everyone, including dairy lovers like me. This doesn't ruin the shop for me but I definitely will not be ordering anything with milk alternatives in it.
google avatar

Delaney M.

Yelp
yummy matcha + i love that it's all vegan!! having the standard being oatmilk makes my little lactose heart soar

Leslie L.

Yelp
Good coffee but this place must be vegan because they don't carry half and half, what a bummer,

Yelp
I discovered this place a few weeks ago when on the search for a fruity pebble latte. I had a friend tell me these exist so I thought I would try to find one! I came in mid morning on a weekday to do a little work and get some coffee. They do indeed have a fruity pebble latte as well as a Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte which we couldn't pass up. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte is off the chaaaaaiiin. Yeah it's a little sweet but g damn, it's amazing. I have not tried it iced yet but hot it's just perfect. We also got a decaf americano which was great. They have a handful of milk alternative options as well. Since I came the first time, I've been back at least 1x/week to work and have a coffee. The fruity pebble latte is also delicious but I am not 100% sure I wan't my coffee tasting fruity like I thought I might, ha! The atmosphere is so calm and huge garage doors that are open during the day to let the fresh air and sun in. The building has a few businesses inside too which makes the space very cool and industrial. The staff has always been so friendly and kind. I LOVE this spot. :)

L G.

Yelp
Genuine good vegan menu for breakfast or lunch, a wide variety of coffee and tea drinks made to order, vegan options, fast, friendly service. At night a venue for local music, cocktails!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop and friendly staff. I enjoyed my vanilla latte, and my wife liked her honey latte (though she probably wouldn't get it again). Handy location for accessing lots of shops. I'd come back again.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Honey Latte is pretty low-key as far as cafe/coffee shops go. The one barista was very laid back and nice as well. The coffee was admittedly not great, was very weak and flavorless. They had some neat options though!

Frank B.

Yelp
Visited this coffee shop during my trip to Portland and absolutely LOVED the lavender honey latte! I usually stay away from the flavored coffees because they often overpower the coffee. But, I was in a new city and loving the alternative vibes in the area, so when my cousin suggested I try this coffee I took a chance, and I'm glad I did! The lavender was subtle and the taste of honey gave the drink a slight sweetness. Will be back on my next visit!

Phil G.

Yelp
This place is really amazing. I work in the same building and am so happy to have them so close. Pros: Super tasty drinks and food Offers vegan food/drink Chill atmosphere Industrial-chic vibe Hosts awesome music and events Cool staff Badass cat Cons: Sometimes it really just smells too delicious and then I get hungry

Yelp
went here on a whim with a friend who lives in portland and fell in love. super cool interior of the place and it serves as a very relaxing place to do work! got the signature honey latte and it was delicious. not too sweet but perfect for an afternoon pick me up :) pretty sure they use oatly brand of oat milk for those who are picky. forgot to mention the barista was very friendly as it was my first time in!

Yelp
best cafe ever!! super friendly staff and spacious inside. lattes are always delish, as is the curry wrap. the vintage rack is fun to check out on a study break too. This is my favorite spot to study in Portland!

Yelp
Stopped by Honey Latte Cafe the other day and was truly impressed! Their menu is vegan and they have so many fun options! I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte and the flavours were so lovely! I also love the space as well. Such a nice place to grab a cup of coffee and get some work done! Will definitely be back to try some more of their fun coffee drinks!

Yelp
Really cool space. Overall kind of weird experience. I came in was on the fence between two lattes and the guy said he'd just do the honey latte with Chaga mushroom in it. So I chatted it up a bit with the guy who worked there and he was nice. Then he took someone else's order and said my order would be ready soon. I sat down and the guy making my drink puts the drink infront of this other customer who is standing by the counter. The guy who was behind me picks it up and takes a sip and the guy who works there is like oh uh that's not yours. The customer is like oh my god im so sorry. The guy who works there is like uhhh let me know if I need to do anything. In my head I thought... uh yeah dude make me another one why would I even have to ask. But I also was like fuck it whatever. The customer was like you can have a sip of mine if you want. I laughed and it didn't ruin my day or anything just thought it was really odd. I didn't take a sip of the other customers drink if anyone was wondering. I made a joke about us being latte brothers. I think the latte was like 7 dollars. Overall not the place for me to go more then once or twice.

Andrew H.

Yelp
Nice cafe. Used to love it. Was one of my favorites. Music has gotten SUPER LOUD LATELY, sadly. I think they must have gotten some new employees. Can barely think here with earplugs.

Yelp
What a cool hidden gem I had the iced black honey tea with sweet cream foam TO DIE FOR
