We've dined at Parq's other restaurant, The Victor, quite a few times (it's always really good) but the Mrs suggested trying Honey Salt once.
Roasted Butternut Squash Soup: I'm always afraid when trying butternut squash soup that it'll be too sweet, but this was done right. Bits of crushed hazelnut gave it a nice texture, and the flavour stuck the right note between savoury and sweet. 4 stars
Korean Fried Chicken Bites: anyone who's tried Korean style fried chicken will know what to expect; this being the spicy & sweet variation (not the snow cheese one). Crispy, spicy, sweet and juicy, with the addition of pickles for added dimension. I would've loved a main course version! 5 stars.
63 Acres Striploin
This was a pretty thin steak, all the more amazing because I asked for medium, and they nailed it. The arugula salad was standard fare, but the truffle fries were awesome; among the best I've had without even needing garlic aoli as a crutch.
4.75 stars.
Chicken & parm
Good flavorful, juicy chicken. I found it just a touch underseasoned, but better under than over. 4.25 stars.
Smashed Pear, our non alcoholic drink, was refreshing, if just a touch sweet.
Overall 9.0/10. A lot of dine outs are unsatisfying either in the quality of the food, or tiny portions, but this place provides creative and generous portions. As pointed out by the Mrs, no this isn't fine dining, but it is one of the more satisfying Dine out Vancouver meals I've had in recent years (Eclipsed by Annalena, & La Terrazza from years ago) and we will definitely visit again.
The hard part will be divvying up visits between Honey Salt & The Victor.
