I've been hearing about the Honey Truck avocado crispy chicken wrap for a long time. Finally decided to try it. The flavor profile is really good, an impressive balance of savory, sweet, and tangy. Texture is where I have some thoughts. The rich, fresh avocado is great. It's really the best thing about the sandwich. But the chicken was a little overcooked and not at all juicy--also, the chicken's breading is too thick and gets soggy because there's steam trapped inside the wrap. Bad choice to use baby greens on this, it wilts against the chicken and then it just tastes like paper; they should've used romaine or iceberg, so it would be crisp and refreshing. I'm not saying it's a bad sandwich. But it doesn't live up to the hype. Still, Honey is a great addition to the incredible selection of food trucks on Temple main campus. Better than any fast food restaurant or sandwich chain. Next time I'll try the shrimp burger. The fries were great, perfectly crispy and well seasoned.
Update: I tried the shrimp burger and it was very good. It has big fried shrimp flavor that's well matched with the tartar sauce. It's like eating a seashore fried seafood platter on a bun.
Update: I went back another time. Tried the crab burger. So much better than I was expecting. It's a real crab cake on a bun, slathered in Mayo-based condiments (something spicy and something sweet like tartar). It was a delicious sandwich. The crab cake seemed to have a blend of crab types, some backfin and something chunkier that may have been lump or claw. It's most likely made from canned/pasteurized crabmeat, but that's okay, it's still good--not loaded with breadcrumbs as filler. The outside is crisp and the inside was soft and creamy crab flesh. Yum. I'll order this again.
I'm adding more stars to the overall review. The chicken wrap was disappointing, but everything else I've eaten here has been fantastic.
