NYC Restaurants See Mass Event Cancellations Amid Coronavirus Fears | Eater NY

"Honeybee’s is one of several of Ravi DeRossi’s restaurants that already offer delivery, a capability he notes some of his other venues lack and is trying to expand." - Serena Dai

The acai bowl is not fresh, it looks and tastes like it was sitting in the freezer, blue berries are old and banana tastes old too! Never again! Horrible service

Google
1. WAY TOO LONG for the quality of product served. 2. Menu is contributing factor with burgers, bowls, coffees, boba: they have to stock too many items, and obviously have the staff shortfalls that contribute to the wait, frustration and experience. 3. Hours are minimum effort, it’s more than obvious the inexperienced staff or owners hoped for more foot traffic and profit from online orders. In reality this boutique eatery is surrounded by family style homes = no foot traffic when they are open and more competent and attractive online options for this business to compete. Very negative experience and it’s probably best to be replaced with a more competent owner and streamlined menu. 45 minutes for a salad that basic and in no way worth the price.

I had their version of the Brownsugar Oatmilk Expresso. It tasted homemade in a good way. Very yummy. The service nice and helpful.

Google
What a beautiful store with a shitty experience with customer service and an awful smoothie. Dont be fooled but the looks. The acai smoothie taste like pure ice. No flavor at all. Its sad because I used to come here a year or so ago and the quality has declined immensely.

5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Local, convenient, and delicious is what comes to mind when I think of HoneyBee's. I moved into the area almost a year ago now and I drove by this place everyday to and from work since I live about 3 blocks away. In all honesty I never stopped by because I'm always running late to where I should be or the times I thought about stopping it looked busy and again I am usually running too late to wait lol This time around I was off and had just finished a morning cycling class and decided, today is the day I try this place and I'm so happy I did. First off all Isabella was AMAZING! She was so welcoming and very helpful, her bubbly and beautiful personality is so contagious and made my visit outstanding. I knew I wanted an Açai bowl but they had a few options so she gave me her best recommendation and totally explained to me what they have to offer. Since my first visit I have been here a hand full of times now and every time I have stopped by the service is nothing but the best and the açaí bowls are always PERFECT! I love my açaí bowls made with extra peanut butter and no coconuts, they never have a problem with altering any order to your liking. Located in a residential neighborhood with only street parking, HoneyBees has indoor and outdoor seating and is a nice quiet place to sit and hangout or maybe get some work done. I’m so happy this cute place is located blocks away from my living situation so I can stop by anytime I please :) Hope you enjoy!

Google
I live nearby and love the idea of a walkable neighborhood coffee shop. Honeybees has so much potential but is missing the mark. Recommendations to the owners—- 1. Get rid of the stupid, order by screen mechanism. It actually slows down production. I just waited 15minutes for 3 people to order with that thing. You don’t have enough people in the shop to justify this. It also destroys any element of real customer service and face to face contact. People don’t care for it. 2. For the sister company next door, 2nd and Loma. Same advice, where are the servers??? You order at a screen and they serve you your food behind a wall? There is no atmosphere, no music. So much wasted potential. You could do so much more with the space. Have community events that invite some of the locals. The place feels like a ghost town and a very lazy afterthought of a coffee shop.

Google
I usually don’t write reviews, but we ordered a coffee and the honeybee sandwich. The coffee was burnt, so we ask to swap it with something else. We took a bite of the sandwich and the bacon was completely raw!! Overall terrible.

Google
The lady helping me today was very polite and had great customer service. About the menu. I wish they would specify what they add in their smoothies. Many other people do not drink regular milk. My açaí bowl was good, but the fruit wasn’t as fresh or good quality. Overall I will definitely be back to try more drinks and their food.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. I've been a regular at the Library coffee place which gets very crowded with students every day, and has a rather uninspiring food menu. Honeybee's is situated in a quiet neighborhood with ample street parking, the coffee was great, the turkey bagel was perfect, and I really liked the bright natural light interior. I was able to get a lot of work done on their public Wifi. This is definitely my new go to when I need a place to work while I'm in this part of town in the future
google avatar

Kate K.

Yelp
My first time at Honeybee's was a bit lackluster. The person behind the counter recommended the special chicken panini so I gave that a try. The "panini bread" is pretty bland sliced white bread, which wasn't evenly toasted. The avocado on the sandwich was not ripe and some pieces were so chewy they were inedible, resembling rubber more than food. Tomatoes were also not very ripe, but that is a problem that plagues many restaurants. The sandwich stuffing was pretty minimal, as you can see from the photo. For a couple dollars less I could have had a much better sandwich down the street at Olives.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this quiet shop while driving through Long Beach and found that they offer a variety of teas and sandwiches. Their milk tea was decent. Next time I'd try a sandwich for a quick bite. Not a lot of seating inside but seems like a calm environment with very pleasant staff
google avatar

Vicky A.

Yelp
I had their Breakfast sandwich and iced vanilla latte. It was my first time trying them and ordered take out to be delivered. The sandwich was good and the ingredients seemed fresh. There was some seasoning in the egg not sure what but tasted good. The vanilla latte was perfect, not too much vanilla or milk. Definitely recommend trying them out for yourself.
google avatar

Yelp
Concerning, could be doing a lot better and I think it's possible I was here on an off day. Quite a bit of a wait time, and the milk tea is not worth it. Seems like most other customers were here for sandwiches/ burgers and coffee. There were two girls who seemed to be working the beverage station and one girl working the kitchen. It seemed like the person making food had to expedite/ call out orders at the same time, which was causing a huge delay in between orders coming out. The girls working beverage station and foh should have been helping with expediting more in my opinion. Just all around the team seemed to be confused and scrambling, orders coming out in a weird and different order than they were placed. You can see in the photo that my drink is mostly white, and it tastes like almost nothing? The only flavor is coming from the boba. This tastes like someone brewed the tea like it was a hot tea, cold iced teas have to be brewed darker so that they aren't watered down when cooled off. That's why a lot of places have larger batches of tea brewed overnight like a cold brew, so the flavor is more pungent and can be mixed into ice and milk without losing its flavor. This had no tea flavor and was extremely disappointing, I do not recommend it to any tea lovers. If the focus is on burgers and food, it feels misleading to have your branding be about honey boba. On top of all of this, as I was waiting for my order and watching the kitchen I kept seeing the girl who was making drinks touch her face and hair while working. I know it must have been an unconscious thing from being nervous, but it is super unsanitary to not be washing your hands in between all of that. Left me hoping the drink would wow me after all of that, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

Yelp
A cute little spot. Just up the street from where I'm staying so I was so hopeful. Unfortunately the coffee is not good. I've tried it a couple times and it's been barely tolerable to drink. A tried a breakfast sandwich and I'm not even sure what the taste was it but it left a gross taste in my mouth. It has so much potential but really needs to work on quality and taste.
google avatar

Ani A.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here. The Vietnamese coffee was delicious. Really good for the price. I ordered a breakfast melt and strawberry and Nutella croissant. The flavor was good but croissant was not fresh. It was a bit stale. Other than that pretty good food
google avatar

Marianne C.

Yelp
The two sandwiches we purchased were awful. The "chicken" that I had on the special chicken panini was from a can and tasted like something that I wouldn't feed my dog. The fruit flavored tea drink that I had was actually tasty. I keep looking for decent, simple local food places in Long Beach, which has been my home for 20 years now, and they're sadly lacking. I try to support independent food businesses, but many of them like this place are just so bad. It's gotten so that I'm really hesitant to try an untested food place in Long Beach. This restaurant only confirmed my fears. They don't try for any real quality, just for something somewhat edible to put on a plate.
google avatar

Yelp
A bit bummed by the service this Saturday morning. They don't have anyone to greet you and no one is working the counter at all. There is a singular kiosk that contains their entire 2 page menu for you to navigate yourself to order. I could hear about 4 people in the back but none of them came to the dining room or greeted folks. My latte tasted burnt and didn't have enough milk in it either. The burrito was okay but I took it to go because the service was so weird and it felt like they didn't want anyone there.
google avatar

Kim R.

Yelp
This review is solely on the smoothie I got. I decided to check this place out since I was next door waiting for my food from a Yelp event (see previous review). The backdrop is cute (see my photo) and the girl who waited on me was nice. I got the strawberry smoothie. It was just ok. To be honest, it was quite bland. No sweetness to it whatsoever. I think it was legit just strawberries and milk. I was expecting a Jamba Juice type smoothie... *shrugs* I'm a little curious on how the breakfast burrito is (I'm still trying to find my most favorite/"perfect" one) but I'm not sure that I'll go back.
google avatar

Ethan W.

Yelp
Don't sleep on honeybees! It's an unassuming corner spot but the breakfast burritos and sandwiches are VERY solid. Best bang for buck in Belmont Heights. Vietnamese coffee is also great and they have a nice little side patio to enjoy it on.
google avatar

Neal T.

Yelp
Had an iced tea lemonade and a Tuna Melt Panini. The shepherd bread they put it on is delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the Banh Mi I didn't see that one till after I ordered. The neighborhood is a quiet nice spot with plenty of street parking right off 3rd and Redondo basically. They had my sandwich and drink ready quickly but I was the only one there at the time so not sure what rush hour looks like.
google avatar

Linds A.

Yelp
I got a almost $8 jam and cheese croissant. Absolutely not with the money. I've definitely seen more impressive sandwiches for less at other places.

Yelp
i had good service here but the açaí bowl is terrible. It's soooooo sweet. and a lot of frozen chunks despite the fact that i walked it home. the chia pudding comes frozen on top. what? why freeze the chia pudding?? just have it fresh on hand :( that's just pure laziness blueberries are not in season yes but they were also frozen. bummed i paid 14 dollars for it i could have gone to my other açaí joint :'( just go to salud - they have actually fresh açaí bowls i don't think i will be back. my teeth hurt from the açaí bowl being too sweet and i threw away more than half because it was so bad - worst açaí bowl i've ever had but i'm not gonna give a lower star rating bc i want to give everyone at least 3 stars and the staff was still nice. whoever is running this place need to reevaluate their ingredients that they use - it's unacceptable
google avatar

Yelp
This is a nice little neighborhood place to pick up a sandwich. It has grown an appendage which is 3rd&Loma. Repainted, it has a new and bright exterior. Thankfully, we were able to get a Italian sandwich to round out the spring roll linner that was begun next door. Quite hungry. Were we to want something at this location again I think that I would try another sandwich here rather than 3rd&Loma fare. Bf pointed out that that ratio of bread to sandwich innards was perfect.

Kyana D.

Yelp
The service was nice. Seating was somewhat limited. I decided to go for their honeybee special milk tea. This drink came with so many toppings they did not hold back at all, super generous, I would highly recommend trying it. It's also on the sweeter side, like a lot lol, which is a plus for me but definitely keep that in mind. Their menu also includes the final price for everything meaning tax is already included. I also like the fact that their milk tea's specifically all come in a large size and their super reasonably priced too. They had so many options for both drinks and pastries so there should be something for everyone. Parking can be challenging at this location because it's sort of in the center of a neighborhood meaning you'll have to count on a spot being available on the curb.

Yelp
Very sweet and delicous I recommend ordering everything is very nice and placed and they have an outside to eat just incase. Service was 10/10

Yelp
Unfortunately, each time I come here I'm hoping for the experience we had the first visit. I love the brisket sandwich with the pho broth for the au jus. The first couple times, amazing. Since then, each time less and less actual substance in the sandwich. This time there was a minimal amount of meat I opened to check if they forgot it. (That happened here once too). They also are short staffed (they have a sign at the register telling so). So they have added a self order kiosk. Personally, if I have to place my own order and bus my own table, I feel the business should remove or reduce the gratuity request. The flavors are still delicious, but there's less and less to taste each visit and the prices haven't gone down. The staff are nice enough, but the space is starting to show its age. Seems like it's time to evaluate the overall business. Which is sad. I really want to like this small business!

Yelp
My all time favorite thing is lavender. So when I see a lavender latte on a menu I'm 100% going to order and judge it critically. Let me just say.... This was great. Just the right amount of lavender. Sweet and creamy and amazingly put together. There are a lot Of food options that I'll be trying out soon. But I wanted to review it already because the place is in the middle of a residential area, nice people, nice place, and an amazing local spot. I recommend not just for the locals but for anyone in the area!
google avatar

Asia B.

Yelp
If you're looking for a delicious bite with quick service, this cafe is the spot. From sandwiches to boba, they have it all. Not to mention, their Vietnamese iced coffee is top tier! The cafe is located in a family, friendly neighborhood, and it has a great, quiet space for working or studying. The owner, Jackson, has a welcoming personality and contagious laughter and has created a welcoming space for customers.
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
Place used to be good. What happened?!?? Hardly any meat in there. This could be considered a vegetarian sandwich, not an Italian sandwich
google avatar

Lynda N.

Yelp
This place has a big sandwich menu, a l so have salads and other food items. I get their sandwiched sometimes. Most times i go for the acai bowls. Dont like the very early sunday clos time. Everything else Including service is great too.

Anne H.

Yelp
Oh man, I am in trouble because the milk tea, coffee, lox bagel and brekkie sandwich was absolutely delicious! It'll be hard not to eat here every morning. I ordered online and it was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. Lox bagel was the best I've had in Long Beach. The brekkie sandwich was moist and the sriracha mayo sauce not too spicy. The best part is the caramelized onions! Looking forward to trying the rest of their menu.
google avatar

Israel M.

Yelp
The smoothie is very rich full of flavor really refreshing the pizza port ALE speaks for itself! Chipotle, chicken sandwich, lots of chicken, a little spicy kick to it perfect lunch. Just to let everyone know if you are in a hurry they do take a while to prepare your food but the food and drinks are fresh and well prepared.

Gloria M.

Yelp
Sandwiches are good, drinks were terrible and service was horrible. The cashier seemed bothered that we came in at 3 she said they close at 3 sighed and rolled her eyes. Yelp said they closed at 4. Never again
google avatar

Chad K.

Yelp
Acceptable. It would be the place to go if there were no other espresso shops in the surrounding area. Long Beach, however, is brimming with great coffee (no pun intended) so it is hard to justify the price. I got the 12 oz. cappuccino. The taste was ok, a little coarse and pungent rather than a smooth or silky experience. It wasn't terrible, just not what I was expecting for $4.30 + tax. I was scared to ask for alternative milk, which would've sent the drink over 5 bills. Not bad if you don't have other nearby options, but the price stung a bit (eh?), so not sure I would return for a generic drink at barista-level prices.
google avatar

Brittani B.

Yelp
I absolutely love this little gem. Their bagel breakfast sandwich is consistently one of the best and they make a great açaí bowl. I also love the super friendly staff!
google avatar

Dean P.

Yelp
Small place I'm LB that has acai bowls which is what I was looking for. Location is kind of in a residential area but no biggie. I had a peanut butter acai bowl and it was great. I would return if I'm the area.
google avatar

Yelp
First time eating here. I stopped due to its 4 star reviews. However, I was a little disappointed with the sandwiches. We ordered the turkey and beef dip sandwiches. They were okay. Nothing special. They were good, but honestly I could have made better ones at home. The sandwiches were not memorable. We also purchased beer which is sold here but we're told we cannot drink inside the establishment. Why sell beer if you can't drink inside?! The employees here need to work on their smiles and maybe customer service. Not even a thank you when we left, they all hid in the back. As soon as we left, the went to the front.
google avatar

K T.

Yelp
The food is horrible here! This was my first time coming to honey bees And unfortunately this will be my last time. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant croissant. Very simple, how hard is that you can't go wrong. Boy, was I wrong first off? My Crescent was burnt to a Crisp and was hard, and my egg was so hard and crispy when it was supposed to be over easy. When I asked the young lady at the counter about various items. She couldn't even tell me what was popular. And you work there, she was definitely not a people person. This could have been a good place. Because the atmosphere seem like it could have been pretty cool, but the food is just not good.

Kathy T.

Yelp
menu, drinks are good and refreshing. great service and very friendly. plenty of seating available, quiet neighborhood vibe, quaint and peaceful.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Today I ordered for delivery here because I was craving a latte, and was so happy to see they had a Banh Mi sandwich on their menu. The order was sooooo beyond disappointing. First, I received an iced drink, not a latte which is supposed to be hot with foam (I looked back on my order and there was not option to ask for iced so I was not mistaken about what I ordered). Then the Banh Mi was just very little ham with some pickled carrots but mostly mayonnaise and the roll was not at all what a Banh Mi is supposed to be. With the delivery fee and tip I spent $30 and it was so not worth it! I asked for my money back for the drink but Postmates only refunded me $2 for the $7 drink. Awful! I'll never order from this place again!!!!
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Honeybees is cute and charming. The coffee is great and didn't have to wait long for it at all. It is a very clean establishment and has a small outdoor area as well. I grabbed a pastry but will definitely grab a sandwich or acai bowl next time.
google avatar

Christopher R.

Yelp
I am so excited that my partner and I found this little gem of a place! Honeybees is located in a residential area and parking can be a hassle, but also it's Long Beach so when isn't parking really a hassle. My partner and I ordered a couple different things and each thing that we tasted we mentioned that everything tasted extremely fresh with quality ingredients. I tried the strawberry matcha latte and signature açaí bowl. The latte was a last minute add to the order that I am so glad that I added. Sometimes matcha lattes can be pretty bitter but the matcha that Honeybee's uses along with the addition of oatmeal and strawberry purée made for an extremely well rounded drink that was not too bitter or sweet. The signature bowl is where I noticed how fresh all of the ingredients were. Each piece of fruit and even the toppings had immaculate quality. Oh and the almond butter! Easily one of my favorite almond butters that I've had. Not pictured is my partner's breakfast sandwich that had ham, egg and cheese that he got to build himself. He also added onions and tomatoes. Same as everything else, the individual ingredients themselves were delicious but all together * chef's kiss* We would definitely come again.
google avatar

Seng T.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place. The food was delicious and the drinks was refreshing. Will definitely be back
google avatar

Lisa F.

Yelp
Took my daughter to Honeybees as I kept seeing all their advertisements on Instagram.. it's kind of hidden in a neighborhood. When we walked in it is very cute inside. I got the Thai tea and she got the strawberry lemonade, Both had an off taste to our liking. I think it was the boba that changed the whole taste of these 2 drinks. We also ordered and shared an Italian sandwich minus pickles and olives. Too much mustard was added to our sandwich, it was overpowering the whole sandwich. Overall the girls working there were very nice and professional. I can't say I will come back, but that's just me. It is a busy little place so they're doing SOMETHING right, just not for me.

Michael K.

Yelp
I mean I love supporting local businesses but wtf is this? Did you run out of tuna? I paid 10 dollars for bread basically! Needs more seasoning too like more mayo, salt and pepper. If you guys need a good recipe just hit me up and I'll give you an amazing one. Otherwise just stick to teas, smoothies, or some shit. Ps updating my review cause the tuna melt had no cheese, therefore, making it only a tuna but no tuna so basically just bread

Jessica B.

Yelp
Terrible service. Incredibly rude and took longer than 20 minutes for our food. Do not spend your money here.
google avatar

Kyle G.

Yelp
Eh, bland...expected more for the price. Chicken was a weird texture. Breakfast burrito was the smallest I've ever had lol. Ice tea was warm.

Earth C.

Yelp
I used to love coming here. Usually no lines. Fast and friendly service. But now it's a complete joke. Their new hires have no customer service skills whatsoever. Came by on Saturday the 5th around 12:30. Girl who took my order was just rude and very unwelcoming. She spent more time talking about who follows her on Instagram than making my drink. Will not be coming back.. you guys lost loyal customer

Sarai R.

Yelp
So the iced coffee is always good here. I wanted to try something new. I grabbed the banh mi. I was so disappointed. I have never had a banh mi served on a soggier bread. This was not a banh mi and if you're thinking of getting it don't.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried out the Honeybee today! This quaint little spot is nestled in the cutest historic district surrounded by beautiful 1920's Craftman homes. I had lunch with my boo and our two dogs and the four of us enjoyed the shady patio with ample seating. We ordered a hot beef dip sandwich and tuna salad sandwich on delicious shepherds bread that was so fresh! Both sandwiches were delicious, surroundings were quiet and peaceful... looking to going back soon! The patio is around the side of the business... so don't look for it out front... Blessings....
google avatar

Nina J.

Yelp
The food here is such poor quality I wouldn't feed it to my dog. The owner and workers could care less. Beware!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Early morning stop here And it did not disappoint. I want to say service was friendly. Menu is rather large. Good slections I think. Didnt have to wait long for our order. Two drinks, two sandwiches, took about 7 minutes. Coffee was on point. Like wow wow But I forget the other drink and sandwiches. I will go back, but just for the coffee.
google avatar

Dora G.

Yelp
I'm a regular at this location though I usually order ahead and pick up. They have the best chai tea in town and one of my favorite breakfast burritos. I wish their breakfast burritos came with a better salsa instead of the weird tomato sauce it typically comes with. Other than that, great place and great food
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
I drove all the way from the valley to get one of the best Vietnamese coffees I have ever had. This place does not disappoint. I wish there was one closer to me so I can get the Vietnamese coffee every morning. Thank you guys !

Yesenia C.

Yelp
Oh this place just hit the spot! We had grilled cheese with their roasted tomato basil soup and it was so delicious! They do add a lot of chopped red onion to the sandwich so let them Know to leave that out if you're not a fan.
google avatar

T'Ria E.

Yelp
Ordered to go: breakfast burrito which I found to be the perfect size and flavorful. Some burritos are huge and I never end up finishing them. In terms of cost comparison vs competition you do get bigger burritos elsewhere. Comes with a side of sweeter salsa, I prefer all my food spicy so I added sriracha to it and made my own spicy ketchup side to dip it in so good!
