"Owners Lara and Nicole Miele make their coffee with beans sourced from Union Coffee Roaster in Ayer, MA. Order a latte (soy and almond milk are each available), and pair it with Honeycomb’s breakfast sandwich, which consists of a fried egg and cheddar served on a bagel or toast. Honeycomb specializes in espresso drinks — chocolatey mochas, piping hot Americanos, and straight-up shots. Honeycomb is open for takeout via phone, as well as takeout and delivery via ChowNow." - Nathan Tavares

"Tucked right by the Savin Hill T stop, this coffee shop owned by Dorchester couple Lara and Nicole Miele offers bold cups of coffee and bites to grab on morning commutes, like a classic breakfast sandwich with fried egg. Check out the Pop, Lox & Drop It sandwich, too, which features your choice of bagel (the multi-seed is the best) topped with scallion and dill cream cheese, cucumber, tomato, and slivers of smoked salmon.  Honeycomb is open for takeout via phone, as well as takeout and delivery via ChowNow." - Nathan Tavares

Looking for breakfast before heading out and this place was close. Lucked out with on-street parking and was able to stop right in front. I'm disappointed they didn't have coconut milk. Three stars for service. Not many small shops do. Menu was simple and clear with additions but no substitutions! I ordered a egg and deli-meat (turkey) bagel. It was beyond my expectations how tasty it was..for a simple bagel sandwich! I also tried the sausage egg and cheese sandwich with similar results! This is another fine shop with good food. There was some seating, but it's essentially standing room only. 3 stars for atmosphere.

This place is amazing. Servers are so nice. We were recommended the Phoenix with bacon, and it was great! We also got the steak sandwich, very yummy. Portions felt small but maybe we were just too hungry 😅😊

Google
I only got a smoothie but they taste amazing and the prices aren’t expensive. It is very clean and I highly recommend stopping by, wether its for a quick drink, or a quick nice breakfast.

Some of the best coffee and sandwiches you can get in Boston! We regularly visit to enjoy freshly made bagels, tasty drinks, and the local Savin Hill community. They make their own "house-made" sausage, which is best enjoyed on a breakfast sandwich.

Google
Beautiful magical potions establishment !!! 😂 !!! The barista was amazing. She treated us with the outmost devotion to her craft. We had a delicious latte, a couple of chia lattes, and …. We wanted to taste 👅 ALL!! The sandwiches 🥪 were also prepared with passion and dedication. Thank you “V” FYi… we had so much fun with the decoration and got sooo enthusiastic with the flavors.. we took no photos of the drinks or food 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Google
Sorry for that pic but I inhaled this sandwich. It was hit the spot amazing! Cooked to perfection. I added an extra egg because of a few comments about the eggs being cooked hard and therefor flat. Quick service. Loving this cafe mocha! Also I’m told the dirty chai latte ordered was also great. Go eat or order from here. Now.

Google
Atmosphere amazing. Breakfast had sandwich too much bread to filling ratio. Egg was thin. Felt like eating a bagel sandwich. Bagel wrapping didn't include a napkin. Still want to go back and try again.

I was visiting a friend in the area and came here twice during my trip. What a great breakfast spot! I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Boston!

Yelp
Awesome coffee shop. Great coffee, yummy food, super pleasant service. Interior is small but cost.

Gloria M.

Yelp
They have a welcoming outside and a very cute inside. The staff is nice even when it's busy. The sandwich's are the pull for me. The bread is always good and I always leave happy. The prices are fair but they could do more with the filling of the sandwiches

Dominique D.

Yelp
Not bad! It's a cute spot near the Savin hill T stop. They're open for breakfast and lunch. There isn't much seating inside so it's best to take anything to go. The cashier was nice and my order came out pretty quickly. I ordered an ice coffee and the Phoenix. The coffee was alright and the sandwich was good. If you're looking for a quick bite to go and you're in the Savin hill area check it out!

Maddie R.

Yelp
Overall the service here and the speed of service was great! Super cute small place inside, in a cute little downtown area. My partner got the bird is the word which was overall a good Sammy. However, I got the pop it lox it drop it and it wasn't necessarily as described. I was kinda bummed it didn't come with the scallion dill cream cheese as the menu stated, instead there was a LOT of plain cream cheese. The lox sandwich was just ok. I'd come back to give them another try as it could've just been an off day.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Sunny Saturday noon. Scant streetside parking. Came by for a quick iced coffee (3.25 small) and grilled cheese (4.5). Great vibes. 8 window-facing seats inside. 2min for coffee, 5min for grilled cheese.

Emily O.

Yelp
Honeycomb has been one of my favorite cafes in Savin hill! The chai lattes are amazing and you can't go wrong with any of the food. I recommend the smoked lox bagel and a regular bacon egg and cheese with a croissant.

Raquel G.

Yelp
Cute Place but Im still hungry. Bad cross section Maybe all the other stuff is better

Yelp
Was on the hunt for a BEC and found this place. Super small on the inside not really a sit down place but is homey w gag decor. Ordered the Breakfast sandwhich (BEC) on an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese (pro tip). Came out super quick. My friends ordered variations of the breakfast sandwhich and didn't have their socks knocked off. It's not the greatest BEC i've ever had but it was quality. They were dissatisfied with the egg ratio whereas I didn't mind it at all. The everything bagel tasted real not manufactured. Not sure if they make them in house but that's a hearty bagel. Overall no complaints on my end- pleasant experience. Jalapeño cream cheese is bomb btw

Yelp
I've unfortunately found myself here, after multiple occasions of Honeycomb's horrible display of customer service. I live right around the corner and order there online, often... more often than McKennas. One would think a local, neighborhood café would value local customers and treat them to return. They threw my food out (that was already paid for ~$22) when I showed up 2 minutes after close w/ NO refund, offering modifications one day and refusing them the next, and sternly told to not call in to their establishment, as it makes it hard for them to "handle the crowd". I have been in the service industry for 5+ and hate reviews written out of spite or taken out of context, but this is well deserved. I will not be giving them anymore of my business and hope to spare others from the unacceptable customer service I've experienced.

Yin Z.

Yelp
The worst customer service you can find in town. I was trying to get a coffee takeout today, but I was out with my dog. There is no obvious sign indicating dogs are not allowed in the cafe. I wasn't trying go into the cafe with him, I just wanted to open the door, place my order and tight my dog at the door so I can pay. The moment I opened their door, the woman works there today immediately yelled at me "Dogs are not allowed in here" with a bad attitude. What if this was someone with their service dog? I will never go back to this place ever again.

Julianne L.

Yelp
Honeycomb Cafe is an excellent stop if you're in the area and looking for a quick breakfast and coffee! The atmosphere is trendy but casual and laid-back. There is limited countertop seating by the window, great for watching the plenty of people walking by with their dogs. The Housemade sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant breakfast sandwich was a bit pricey (it was an extra charge for the croissant and sausage), but still delicious! The true star of the show was the iced Dirty Chai latte with oat milk - it made me do a happy dance! Do note that there is no bathroom available at the cafe. Overall, a 5/5 experience that I highly recommend!

Tim S.

Yelp
Smoothies and Coffee are so delicious and healthy. Gf had the egg sandwich on a French roll which she raved it was the best she's ever have. 100% will be back!!

Emily R.

Yelp
I've tried so hard to love this place. I came back three distinct times for three different things to taste their range. Each time, I was disappointed in the customer service and the drinks itself. The first time I went, the employee was dry and unfriendly. The second time, a different employee was outright rude and short. Both interactions were just transactions. The iced coffees we ordered were very watered down. They are also served in styrofoam cups which isn't all that glamorous (reminds me a bit of pool concession stands), but certainly not a deal breaker! When I came back recently, the matte latte I ordered, didn't have properly foamed milk and was served luke warm. It just seems like all around this place isn't "doing it with love." There isn't much seating inside, but the location and parking is pretty good. The menu is extensive too, especially for food! If you're not a picky coffee drinker, maybe try this place out.

Charle K.

Yelp
Honeycomb Cafe is 100% hit or miss. The very first time I visited, it was stellar! The cashier made me feel so welcome and was super friendly. She made recommendations and we chatted like neighbors do; job well done to her! The second time we ordered smoothies and were told they were outta straws after they processed our payment. Very annoying, but not a total dealbreaker though we waited quite some time before returning because of this faux pas. Third and fourth visits, the cashiers barely spoke. No greeting. 100% transactional, which I don't expect from local spots. It feels like their kindness is exclusively reserved and exercised for regulars, which is a bummer. Smoothies -- good, but overpriced for what you get. 16oz in a styrofoam cup? Hmm.. Food -- I love the avocado toast. And my sister has been satisfied with the BLT.

Lisa Z.

Yelp
The Italian stallion sandwich was really mediocre, but maybe the drinks are okay? Please also note that there's not much seating inside (only enough for 7-8 people at a time)

G L.

Yelp
I recently moved in the area and found this cute coffee shop. The pop lox & drop it sandwich was so good!

A R.

Yelp
I have enjoyed going here until today. The last time I went they forgot to give the pastry that I paid for. I called a few times and left a voicemail that day, to ask for a refund. I did not receive a call back. Today when I returned, I let them know and the lady who I spoke to on the phone gave a big attitude about correcting the mistake. I understand time had passed but an attitude was not necessary or appreciated. Not sure if we will be back. Good food though.

Shain O.

Yelp
Listen. Lara et al a Honeycomb Cafe are doing it right. They know where their ingredients come from. They support local business partners. They have been adapting to the realities of covid since day 1. The food and coffee are fresh and delicious! I really love their multi-seed bagels. Super chewy and flavorful. You can order ahead or in-person, they'll do it right by you. Tips for a successful visit: 1) tip well 2) do not steal their tip jar

Christina H.

Yelp
This is the cutest little neighborhood coffee shop ever! I'm skeptical about cat people, but for Honeycomb Cafe, I'll make an exception ;) ! From the moment I came in, I wanted to order something off of the menu. Instead, I chose a plain hot coffee to start my morning. After all, when you're in Boston, you have to pick your food choices wisely! I will certainly return for a full meal!

Matt C.

Yelp
Food was good but they omitted my breakfast sandwich add on, which was $3 extra, from an already pricy and smaller breakfast sandwich. Tough

Lisa Jessica W.

Yelp
The lady working the register (wearing tie dye, glasses, and dark hair) is phenomenal. She was accommodating and her personality was delightful.

Sharon A.

Yelp
Went there this morning with my granddaughter and my friend. Was there at 8 AM, they were already busy but very gracious and efficient. My friend got the salmon and lox sandwich, I got that egg sandwich and my granddaughter got a bagel with cream cheese, everything was great. My friend and I had coffee and granddaughter had hot chocolate, again, all great. Highly recommend.

Melissa Y.

Yelp
Cute little cafe right in Savin Hill! Stopped in here for lunch one afternoon and I ordered their Grill Cheese on Wheat! Delish! I had to ask what cheese they used because it was probably one of the best Grilled Cheeses I've had in awhile and they told me Cabot cheddar...yummy! If you are ever in the area, definitely stop in here for a quick coffee, pastry or sandwich. Also located steps away from the Savin Hill train station, another bonus! And, there are some very cool restaurants around if you are looking to grab a drink (Ghost Pepper, Savin Hill Kitchen and Bar).

Abby D.

Yelp
The cutest little cafe with such a community vibe! Everyone knows each other and everything is high quality. They have breakfast and lunch food too. It's small, so if you're looking to do work or sit down, you might luck out with a bar seat. I did and I enjoyed doing work from here.

Eric D.

Yelp
This adorable little place was a 5 minute walk from my Air B n B and right next to the Savin Hill station I took into the city daily. I made sure to stop in in multiple attempts for breakfast and coffee for convenience sake and to help support this business. The staff were great, the location was great, and the café itself has a nice variety of coffees and food available, it just wasn't good...like at all. The coffee and I tried 3-4 times was just bad, bitter and tasted burned. The food all looked good but was just meh throughout. I had a bacon egg and cheese on onion bagel and it was so dry I had to literally stop at another store to get ketchup to add some moisture to this thing. I tried several other sandwiches, croissants, and muffins and again just meh, not great. I don't mean to be mean because I really truly wanted this place to shine! That's why I visited like 5x in one week of being in Boston but man how disappointing.

Yelp
Stopped here when we came to drop my kid at the University nearby . Parking problem as there is only street parking and the streets are small . Small shop, welcoming hosts , very clean , Decent menu with coffee, tea, smoothie varieties . I ordered some lattes and it was good ! They make hot and cold sandwiches and the menu is small but decent variety . The hot caprese panini was very tasty and my husband enjoyed it . Will definitely recommend folks to stop by if driving through that area .

Jeff G.

Yelp
Pretty good food, bad service. I came in today to pick up a to go order. I had my dog with me and the woman working there said no dogs allowed. Cool that's fine but then I asked if she can bring me the food she said no because the store is often busy. She and I were the only ones in the store. Not pet friendly and not human friendly either!

Marina P.

Yelp
Smoothies!!!!! are excellent and refreshing but CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER is absolutely mesmerizing.... (Peanut butter, organic cocoa powder, banana, almond milk (I like whole milk)) Convenient location and fast service, thank you

Casey B.

Yelp
The coffee, food and staff here are amazing! Such friendly and quick service. The iced mocha is my go to, and the Italian sandwich is amazing!!

Thien N.

Yelp
Great place in Dorchester. Quick food if you're on the go. Good selection with friendly servers. I had a Let Them Eat Steak. It was a solid roast beef sandwich. Very tasty and definitely recommend. If you're on the go and want solid food definitely check out Honeycomb Cafe.

Christine Y.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for a while! Food was amazing & the staff was so friendly. Totally worth the drive all the way from Andover!

Leona A.

Yelp
This little place is going strong despite the crazy world we're living in! We picked up a couple of sandwiches to take on a picnic this weekend when we needed to escape the house. I got a super yummy BLT and my husband tried the Phoenix and loved it! Can't wait to come back for a breakfast date sometime as the inside looks super cute!

Olivia M.

Yelp
Really solid iced latte. Love when I see Union Coffee Roasters in the wild. Also got avocado toast, reasonably priced and great avocado to bread ratio. The staff were INCREDIBLE and I loved the vibe of this little neighborhood spot. Im not in Dorchester often but I would return here!

Mandie F.

Yelp
Got a mocha latte and a bagel sandwich. This place was priced well and had quick service. No coffee art. Coffee was average is taste and flavor. My sandwich was a little over cooked and burnt, but was still edible. If you need a quick coffee, not a bad place.

G D.

Yelp
Great place, right next to the Savin Hill T stop on the Red Line, in what appears (to an outsider) to be an up and coming part of town. They seem to have a lot of regulars, which is always a good sign! Fair prices (as of now) - $4.50 Avocado Toast for the wife, a $10 bagel & lox sandwich for me, and $2.75 espresso shots that are legit and way better than the Nespresso I use at home. I've been there a few times now and they do seem to sell out of things as the day progresses (as many smaller / fresh based places do) ... so arrive early, or roll the dice that they still have what you want. Open at 7 on weekdays and 8 on weekends, it's a great option for something delicious in the morning. If I could change one thing, it would be to add capers to the Bagel & Lox sandwich, and to add a proper Everything bagel to the mix ... but a small personal preference complaint isn't worth dinging a star. Check them out!

Mmm M.

Yelp
The service in this cafe is generally lacking. There is one particular female employee who is dismissive and rude. Her behavior is so bad that the discomfort is palpable. I've gone back several times to make sure it's not her just having an off day. But each visit for me has been uncomfortable and she acts as if taking my order is a bother. I was willing to overlook the limited menu and average coffee because I wanted to support local, small business. But the visits to this cafe is not worth the headache UPDATE: I have updated this review to show that I appreciate the care and concern that Nicole and Lara, the owners, demonstrated in resolving my concerns. We exchanged pleasant emails that included acknowledgment of my concerns and a promise to improve my future experiences at Honeycomb. As a result, I revisited the cafe this past weekend. While initially feeling a bit anxious about the experience, the staff made my visit worthy and I will return to Honeycomb again. Thank you for being committed to customer care and doing what's right. This level of customer care is what makes buying small and local so valuable.

Courtney O.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast place in Savin hill. They have an amazing breakfast sandwich, great coffee, smoothie and tea options and their lunch sandwiches are delicious also. The customer service is great! Highly recommend!

Marissa D.

Yelp
Cannot say enough great things about this establishment. Honeycomb Cafe treats their customers and neighbors like family, taking the extra effort to remember their regulars names. For the most part the food is locally and sustainably sourced and they use eco-friendly packaging. I love their avocado toast with everything on it, the caprese sandwich with prosciutto and bird is the word add bacon. Get up early to visit on weekend the because lines start to form here at about 10am. My favorite to-go spot in Savin Hill!

Richard S.

Yelp
Honeycomb Cafe was super amazing and extremely affordable. This place is unbelievable. I couldn't decided what to order, but I am so happy that I had Avocado Toast, it was absolutely amazing. Amazing. Fantastic service and staff. Overall, loved this place and will def come back to try other things on their menu.

Frazer K.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Boston to grab a coffee and a quick bite to eat. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Delicious!! Loved their smoothies that were dairy free for me, green goddess. Also loved that they had several gluten free options as well.

Chris B.

Yelp
Staff were pleasant and very accommodating to my dietary restrictions. If I find myself in the area again I'll be sure to stop in.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Awesome turkey sandwich and iced coffee. Window seating was great on a Saturday afternoon. Super fresh ingredients and a lot is local! Great little neighborhood spot :)

David M.

Yelp
Overpriced breakfast sandwich. Burnt bacon, "avocado" was barely there, croissant came broken and burnt. Bad experience. Heard great things. Big let down. $10 bacon egg and disappointment.

Rico L.

Yelp
Fairly new to the area. Cozy and welcoming. Very nice owner. Food and coffee is fantastic. Enjoy!

Kip G.

Yelp
Honeycomb cafe is quite the hidden gem! Amazing drinks, food, service, and staff. The barista, Joel, was super friendly and accommodating! He told me that they source their ingredients from local farms and small businesses, which is awesome. One of my absolute favorite spots in the Dorchester area.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Love having this place in the neighborhood. Coffee is great. Service is a bit slow but the food is worth the wait. Happy to see this small business doing well.

David L.

Yelp
I love this local spot. Every time I stop in, the employees are very friendly, and it just feels like a welcoming place to be when I walk in there. I get my flavored Iced Coffee and Onion bagel with Scallion & Dill cream cheese everytime. Their sandwich menu is appealing, but my usual is just too good. Highly recommended. I try to support local businesses, and these guys offer a great selection and focus on customer service.

Alex G.

Yelp
The best. All freash ingrediants, thick cut bacon, made to order fast, awesome service. Also has gormet coffee, with expresso shots pulled from a REAL machine (no push button junk). Breakfast sandwiches that remind me of the kind I lived on growing up on Long Island. Oh yeah, FIRST!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
We are visiting Boston on vacation and this place is a 15 minute walk from the house we are renting and we are so glad we came across it! The people inside working there are so friendly and helpful with directions and advice! The bagels are delicious and the iced coffee with the vanilla flavor shot is the BEST! Definitely a place to try if in the area.
