The flan here is phenomenal! Every bite is rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The texture is thick, smooth, and well put together, making it such a satisfying dessert. It’s definitely my go to here, and I’d 100% recommend it to anyone.

Google
They’ve always accommodated me and my GF. Vivian is my smoothie girl and she’ll tell me about different combinations and we’ve settled on my favorite: the yummy mango banana smoothie :p Give them a try. They’ve got custom cakes made to order, a bakery case with cakes, bread, cannolis, macaroons and WAY more. Don’t miss out! Located inside Super G Mart!

I’m always looking for new food to try from different countries and this time I tried the Hong Kong bakery and I love it, I asked to the cashier which bread is her favorite and she mentioned 2 of them which I picked plus a few more that caught my attention, I was not disappointed at all, they were delicious, I highly recommended, the food is great too, definitely worth the drive

One of those sweet craving that satisfies, variety of pastries and sliced bread which is my staple buy in this store whenever I shop in the asian groceries.

Google
They make a nice tres leches cake in different flavors, but not as nice as the ones I used to have in San Antonio 😝 I like their mocha one the best and enjoy most of their other desserts as well. They recently added macarons to their menu but I didnt enjoy them at all. They were too sweet and tasted like they were frozen then dethawed. I absolutely love their breads and you get a large sized loaf too. I've also ordered birthday cakes which you can customize the filling and toppings. They can put words on it, but my daughter wanted it plain, so I just stuck some candles on there at home. The whole cake can get pricey depending on the filling you choose and any other custom topping, but it tasted good and she enjoyed it.

Google
I love this place!! The sweets are a treat and they make the best smoothies with the freshest ingredients (way better than Honey Buns next door)!! I love their strawberry tres leche (3 milk) cake, it is absolutely delish! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a local and refreshing sweet spot. There are plenty of items to choose from for a great price. The only con to this place is the location inside the Super G Mart has a fish odor due to the fresh fish they sell, but other than that just a great place to stop by!!🍇🍏🍍🍌🍓🍑🍰🍮

Google
Everytime I go to Super G Mart, I always stop by to get Hongkong Milk Tea. They have a variety of different breads. They also offer Asian-style birthday cakes. The staff here is really nice. Love this place so much!

Google
I LOVE THEIR cake. Best cake I’ve had in the states. Super super light and fluffy and rich in taste. Great quality a bit pricey but understandable for the quality. Reminds me of cake from the Middle East.

Yelp
***Hong Kong Bakery is inside the giant market!!*** If it weren't for reading one of the reviews on here, I would have never found it. I literally drove up and down the shopping plaza and almost gave up. I pulled into a parking spot, looked at reviews, scrolled and scrolled and bam! Someone was super helpful with where it was actually located. So now, I felt the need to put that as the first thing to read on the review haha. There's plenty of parking! Just beware of your surroundings, there were a few homeless people walking around begging/going up to cars. Definitely seems like this is an overall ongoing issue in Charlotte as a whole. The market is massive but I didn't buy anything from the store. I definitely wanted to buy some snacks from different countries in Asia but I had sushi leftovers in the car so I was trying to make it a quick trip. I made my way to the very right side of the store where the bakery and food stands were. The cashier was friendly and I ordered quite a bit of bakery items including a taro bun, red bean cream bun, macaroons, a cookie, and a Thai tea with boba. Everything was delicious, no complaints! I do wish more things were in stock but being that everything tasted great, I'm sure Hong Kong Bakery gets a lot of traction. This is a great small bakery. The location is hard to find but just remember...it's inside the grocery store. When you enter the building, turn right, and go all the way straight until you pass the cash registers and home goods section. You'll see it! Enjoy!

Yelp
Fantastic yeast buns just like the ones in Hong Kong and Singapore. Loved the egg tarts too!!! Brought back wonderful food memories of Asia. Buy 20 and get a couple more free. The tasty yeast buns freeze well too.

Yelp
Yum! Talk about a new favorite hidden gem! Right next to a bao bun place (also great) and tucked away in a supermarket, this place is authentic and great. I got a cheese danish for breakfast the next morning. It kept well on the counter. I had to remind myself to not think of it like a traditional danish (love them). When I had that shift, I was happy. This bun was fluffy and creamy and light and sweet. So good. My partner loved the coconut (raspberry?) roll. Also fluffy and perfectly dusted with coconut. The chocolate "cheesecake" was made with mascarpone and very different. Light and almost whipped cream in texture, this cake was the perfect dessert to share. It's but 5 get one free. I'd try that deal- they were so good!

Yelp
They are located inside of the Super G Mart. I was in bakery heaven because they have so many different pastries and baked goods. A lot of them I remember having growing up, and I'm so happy I was able to get them here. I ended up getting sponge cake and a cheese bread. My partner picked out two buns, since we wanted to take advantage of the buy 5 get 1 free deal. They also make custom fruit birthday cakes. I would've bought one of everything but it's too much and would be overkill. I can see myself being a regular here, and I'd totally come back when I'm in the area next. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a bakery. They have beyond just Asian pastries, I saw danishes and even churros which is pretty cool.

Yelp
For many, many years, this bakery has been the highlight of my trips to G-Mart. Despite being such a dive, it's probably the best Asian bakery in Charlotte. I absolutely LOVE their pastries...and their Bubble Teas aren't bad either. Not only do I love their great selection of pastries, cakes, dessert teas and more, I appreciate their super-friendly pricing. THE only reason I'm docking a star is how I dread it's messy displays (using a ton of cheap labeling!) and its awkward, cramped quarters by the cashier stand. It always amazes me how this place has such an ambitious menu of pastries and drinks (and SO damn good!)...yet SO frugal with its space. Maybe I'm wrong, but this place always seem to be bustling with good business...so I've often wondered why they never bothered to expand (or at least upgrade its appearance)? I personally would love it if they moved to a bigger, nicer location...on its own. Or even start a second chain! Guess I can keep dreaming?

Yelp
I always watch out for healthy food & I've never been a fan of those icing sugary creamy cakes. I remember my HongKong European cakes that we love for birthday or occasions but hard to find in charlotte. I know 2 places, one in Stallings Asian Market and this one the HongKong Bakery inside Super G-Mart on Independant Blvd. Last week, we had a Friday social dancing party with friends birthday, I ordered one from HongKong Bakery for my friends who are not from my home town HongKong. I thought I could introduce this more mild sweetness cake to them. With fresh fruits on top and fillings to see how everyone accept it. Surprised me, most people like it or even love it as it's not soooooo sweet and they came with fresh fruits. The only thing I suggest to the bakery owner is to ask customer if they need a small box of candle and a plastic knife as we were going out without such preparation. We rushed to get those items on the way. I would definitely order again!

Casandra G.

Yelp
Best Tres Leches cakes we have tried in the area! We had the strawberry tres leches cake and it was not dry and the taste was awesome! The strawberries were also very fresh. The whipped cream was so fluffy and not overly sweet!

Yelp
Not sure about Hong Kong style...but they have many varieties of cakes, breads, pastries and drinks. I only tried their pandan sponge cake, fresh fruit sponge cake and their milky cake. The first two were on the drier side, spongy but lack of some moist texture. The milky cake was the best among them but still did not win my heart. Their bakery items are are buy 5 get 1 free, not a bad deal. The staffs were friendly.

Yelp
When I'm in Charlotte, I'm considered Well-Hong, because before Long, I drop by the 'Kong. If you wanna be Well-Hong, come to this bakery. Right next to Honey Buns inside the International Food Court and absolutely delicious. Both bubble tea shops have great baked goods and some really nice bubble teas. I especially like the milk tea from here which was Hong Kong style, and might be the best Boba that I had throughout my time in North Carolina. Except of course for Quickly in Cary-Morrisville. Service not as nice as Best Buns, but I think the Boba was better and that's what I really come for.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
Whenever I shop, I order a drink. I prefer their milk teas but the smoothies I have had were good too. Have ordered cakes for occasions multiple times, and it's always been so good - not to sweet and always moist. I love the fresh fruit on the cake. At each event, the cake has been GONE. They usually have mini slices at the bakery window of similar textures.

Yelp
Looking for Asian pastries for cheap?? Check out the Hong Kong Bakery. I tried the bun with seeds on top and red bean paste on the inside as well as the pork bun. The pork didn't look cooked on the inside so I didn't eat it but the bun with the bean paste was good. Not to sweet and enough to share. Also tried the cold milk coffee which was mildly sweet. I would come again to try more of the sweet pastries.

Yelp
Hong Kong bakery is located inside of GS grocery store supermarket on Highway 74. They are very good about having fresh Asian pastries with them without meats and cheeses and also they are carry out cakes, pies and confections are very good but they tend to sell out very quickly. They have a daily offer of buy four items get the fifth one free of equal or lesser value. The only issue is that they tend to run out of other items like Boba.

Don O.

Yelp
The only place I can find Guy May Bao like it's supposed to be made. I'm from the SF Bay Area in Ca and there is NO GOOD Chinese food in the western upstate area. This is worth the 1.5h drive to get a taste of HK Chinese pastry.

Yelp
I bought some of their fresh cream cakes to take home. I have tasted some of the fresh cream bakeries from another state in CA and GA. I was hoping it would taste the same. To my hope the taste of those cakes were really good. This is a hidden jem in matthews. If you ever want to taste good fresh cream cakes this is the place in this area. The whole place is insdie the SUPER-G mart and with regards to the ambience of the place don't expect much from because you are not going to get it and its a store run by Asians. Store owners: If you would upgrade your cake presentations and the whole area you will boost up your sales. Also next time please don't ask the customer to buy more to fit into a box. Instead invest your money in getting some medium boxes. In general if you ask any customer to buy more to fit into the box that you have most will walk away and you are shying away from potential sale.

Yelp
We were in the area and needed to buy a cake for a friend who just had a baby. This place looked good so thought we would try it. It's located in an Asian grocery store that is very well stocked and worth checking out. We got the fruit cocktail cake for our friend that looked pretty good. Didn't try it though. I did try the coffee walnut cake. It was good, had lots of walnuts but there wasn't a very strong coffee taste. The buttercream was very good though. Not sickly sweet and was very light. They did have Swiss rolls that I've never seen in the US. Will be back for them!

Yelp
Always stop by when I go to the Super G Mart. Love the baked Manapua/BBQ Pork bun. The only place I know in Charlotte that sells Asian bakery buns. Well... unless you go to Atlanta, GA.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered a strawberry milk tea. Not only did it taste horrible, they refused to refund my money. As you can see by the pic, it was tart and curdling. The only thing the manager offered was to make it sweet(which was not the issue). I have never had such horrible customer service in my life. I will never in my life order from them again. Which is sad since I go to the market every week and they lost a customer for life.

Yelp
The bakery pastries are made fresh daily!!! If you buy five items you can get one for free. They are also a very reasonable price between $1-$2 each. There are so many choices. They also have smoothies, bubble tea and shaved ice!!! I'm really excited to try the shaved ice. Today we got the five bakery pastries with the one free item. Each of the items I sampled today were tasty. I believe I got a golden taro bun, a custard bun and a coconut custard bun. I'm normally in this area and glad to know that they offer the pastries that I normally get at Grand Asia Market.

Yelp
What better way to undue a 40min workout than to head to the nearest Asian bakery for sweet buns... Under new management, the bakery inside Super G Mart now represents Hong Kong and serves up fresh goods daily. I know, because I fortunately/unfortunately live in walking distance and sometimes boil a cup of tea and head over there for a freshly baked taro bun. They are often on the rack and hot when I arrive. This bakery is a massive improvement from the former, and from what I've observed, the main reason is the owner. He is a stickler for quality. He is friendly, and takes his baking seriously. Once the baked goods leave the tray, they are individually wrapped in little clear bags and placed on the shelves. With the previous Mexican bakery, they would put the stuff out bare, open for everyone to grope & sneeze on, not to mention the stuff was frequently stale. I skipped my signature taro bun and went wild; got both a pineapple coco bun (it doesn't have pineapple in it; the owner smiled and said he calls it that because it is shaped to look like a pineapple. *right...(smile)...hardly, but okay*), and a mung bean paste bun. Soft, sweet, fresh & comforting....they were good. The ONLY thing that irritated was that the coconut filling was too lite and flaky, so easily spilled out the bun. See photo. Never mind the extra 10min on the bike I'll put in for them in the AM. Worth it :)

Yelp
Best avocado smoothies in Charlotte, NC @ Hong Kong Bakery. I also come her to buy Tres Leches Mexican Cales and Flan, Made freshly daily.

Yelp
We've been coming here regularly for the bubble tea which is very good. The fruit slushies with the boba are made with fresh fruit not powder. You can get jelly in your drink too and they even sell shaved ice though we haven't tried this. They also sell an assortment of Chinese and Latino pastries and baked goods. We tried the flan and thought it was ok. It wasn't terribly sweet nor did it have a smooth creamy texture. We've also tried an assortment of the Chinese pastries and they leave much to be desired. They tend to be dry and lacking in flavor. Makes me pine for the pastries you can typically get in NY or Boston's Chinatown. That's sad because this is seriously one of only two places where you can get such Chinese pastries (the other one at Grand Asia is also greatly lacking). Anyways, we'll skip the pastries altogether and stick to the drinks.

Yelp
The pork buns I got the other day were absolutely outstanding!!! The only places I've ever found these were out in San Francisco or up in Fairbanks Alaska. I never dreamt that I'd be able to find them here in the Charlotte region. I'm so happy I can't wait till my next visit. It's about 25 miles from where I live, but definitely worth the drive. Y'all should open a pork bun truck!!!

Yelp
Best Asian pastries in CLT! It's located in the Asian market(I call it the Korean market LOL). My favorite is their sesame balls with the red bean filling. I love it when it's just freshly put out & all warm. So yummy and frigging huggge! My mom LOVES their bread, fresh made loaves! Also they always have deals where if you buy 10? Or something you get 2 free! It's great because each one of their pastries is legit $1-2 bucks- so totally worth it. Plus the people there are actually so nice(:

Yola T.

Yelp
Love this place. I ordered a custom fruit cake with taro filling. It was a 9 inch for about $45. It was so good, not too sweet. My family was impressed by how good the cake was. Will order again!

Yelp
I barely started coming to this bakery last year and have been sleeping on the hot dog/fluffy bun pastry. If u just want the bun by itself, u have to ask them since they keep it in the back. They recently started making macarons and they are pretty good if u don't want to drive all the way to amelies on woodlawn or noda. The fluffy cup cake that looks like a big muffin (located on the top shelf, furthest unrefrigerated case to the right) is the bomb.com. my kids fight over it everytime. I think if u buy 5 pastries, u get one free. I prefer the milk tea at the honey buns, but this place is a piece of Chinatown heaven for me. I may get my strawberry with cream cake here for my bday.... they can customize cakes if u ask. Keep this gem of a bakery in business people!

Yelp
This is an authentic Cantonese bakery. It has the best Hong Kong Milk Tea (which most boba tea places do not have). They have a variety of pastries (bbq pork bun, egg tart, cream bun, coffee bread, curry beef turnover, Swiss roll, etc.). Everything is fresh and tasty. You can also order a customized Asian style fruit cake. You can pick the flavor of the cake and cream (vanilla, chocolate, green tea, etc.) I have been a regular since they first opened couple years ago :)

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Great moon cakes! And there was a great variety of other baked goods we are looking forward to trying :)

Angel S.

Yelp
This is the best place for bubble tea and all your bakery needs. I've traveled all around the world and still have yet to find a place better than Hong Kong Bakery. They make there drinks the right way. I bring all my friends and they are hooked on the boba drinks. I really appreciate Vivian and Paul for all their hard work. I wish more businesses took the same pride in making their products as genuine and with great quality as they do. You've gotta try the Chia hibiscus milk tea with boba. You can also try as a smoothie Angel

Natta L.

Yelp
Me and my husband always go to this Asian market and my husband always sit right in front of this bakery waiting for me while I do my shopping and never once I wanted to try this bakery out until yesterday. I saw ppl line up waiting to pay so I was like this must be good I should try some so I got a fews take them back home not that excited about them thinking it was just a normal bread/bun. But after dinner I took a bite and I was like jeeeez this thing is so freaking goooooood! My husband tried his and he really like it too. Now we can't stop thinking about it. We wish we bough more because this place is quite far from our house

Yelp
You must try all the bakery and all the drinks. It's a blessing to have this bakery in the Charlotte area. Any respectable city today needs to have an eatery as good as this place. You will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
Great value and tastes just as good or better than Grand Asia pastries and cakes!
google avatar

Yelp
Who knew? I never knew about Asian pastries. Wonderful! Not overly sweet, but soooo fresh. Got the custard filled, butter cream filled and a small loaf with almonds on top. All fantastic!

Yelp
This bakery is simply a joke . Worse customer experience ever. I don't recommend it to anyone .

Yelp
I am in love with this bakery shop where they sell huge Asian breads. They have two places that they sell authentic Taiwanese breads. One is Grand Asia and one is here. This bakery is located in inside the Super G. When you walk in you will smell the delicous bread smell. The owners are super friendly to their customers and happy to answer your questions. I love to buy their breads because they are bigger than the breads at Grand Asia. My favorites two breads here are the custard and the read bean breads. They also have other flavors too like taro bread. At Grand Asia is you buy ten and get one free. Here is you buy five and you get one free bread. All their breads are priced at 1.29. They also sell cakes and they even have sesame balls with red bean inside. They have variety of breads on Sat and Sun. I would recommend people to go on Sat and Sunday. Please give this place a try.
google avatar

Patti L.

Yelp
Good mexican pastries and other bakery good. It is good and they packages individual and stay fresher.

Kiki B.

Yelp
I am happy we have this bakery in Charlotte. I grow up with these pastries, so kind of "picky". I can say the "Jin Duei"(red bean paste sesame ball) is very authentic. I got three other pastries and all of them are very good. The owner said it's just open for two months, and once her machines are in place, there will be more varieties, now just make sure these are good so the customers will come back. I will come back for sure when I shop at Super G.

Ravindra B.

Yelp
Terrible.. i ordered the spider man theme cake for my son birthday well in advance, went to pick on cake was not ready at all. After waiting for more then 30 min cashier came with cake which was not mine. When i told them it is not mine they told me they have lost the ordered receipt and cake is not prepared at all. Will never go back to this bakery

Avi H.

Yelp
Ordered tres da leche (three layer milk cake) for my daughters first birthday and everybody in the party loved it
