"Sichuan fare is the focus at this Falls Church mainstay, including fiery twice-cooked pork and expert cumin lamb. Specials on the wall (in Chinese) reveal additional options. The American Chinese may not excite everyone, but the kitchen still churns out a mean General Tso’s chicken. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily, and the restaurant also offers carryout and delivery within a three-mile radius after 4 p.m. (try DoorDash and UberEats before then)." - Tierney Plumb, Missy Frederick, Eater Staff

"A longtime destination for the area for Sichuan fare, including beef in hot pepper broth, spicy flounder, cumin lamb, and more. The restaurant also does a fine job with American-style Chinese food, whether it be General Tso’s or Happy Family. Ask about the specials on the wall. Online ordering here." - Missy Frederick

I had heard so many good things about this local Chinese restaurant from my friends, and I finally got to try it last week. It was absolutely delicious! My favorite dish was the spicy beef, which was incredibly tender and flavorful. The spicy shrimp was also outstanding, with a perfect sauce that mixed beautifully with all the vegetables. The bamboo dish deserves a special mention. It's one of the best I've had in the DMV area. The unique flavor, juicy and fresh bamboo, combined with a perfectly balanced sour and spicy sauce, makes it an ideal dish for the summer season. Overall, this restaurant truly lives up to its reputation. Highly recommended!

Google
Good value for the quality and quantity of food ordered. Usually not too busy. Highly recommend for dining on a reasonable budget! Fried rice, mapo tofu are a must.

Google
Great hidden gem. Love the Shrimp Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Shrimp Egg Rolls, and the Egg Drop Soups. You definitely need to try the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce; it is the best we have ever had. Totally recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

Google
I never knew this little spot existed prior to today! Anyways, I ordered my favorite dishes - spicy sichuanese fried chicken and tofu and fish - and the food was quite good! Glad I discovered another Chinese restaurant to add to my short list.

Google
A must-visit gem in Seven Corners, this unassuming spot is a local favorite known for its authentic Chinese cuisine and generous portions. I decided to try their cumin fish dish, and I was blown away. The fish was cooked to perfection, flaky and tender, and the cumin seasoning was a perfect balance of savory and spicy. If you're a fan of Sichuan cuisine, Hong Kong Palace definitely delivers. Their Mapo tofu is a must-try, with its numbing spiciness and rich flavor. The dumplings are also incredibly delicious, with a thin, chewy skin and a flavorful filling. The service is warm, friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality experience,

Google
I saw this place recommended in a magazine and decided to check it out. It had 2 people waiting for take out, phones ringing and delivery service workers coming in and out fast. The Mapo Tofu was just what I wanted. Delicious! As well as the fish in a pepper broth. Fare price for such a big portion. The service it's really good and surprisingly fast! It was my first time of many to come.

Google
We had Fish and bean curd in hot sauce, Shanghai and mushroom, steamed dumplings, and a soup (free with over 20 dollars purchase). Fish and bean curd had an aromatic, authentic taste. vegetable, soup and dumpling was wonderful, home made taste. Highly Recommended.

Google
My favorite Chinese place in the NoVa area. Wonderful hot and sour soup. Excellent Chengdu traditional Kung Pao chicken. Other great dishes: salt and pepper shrimp and Chengdu tea-smoked duck. Never been disappointed here.

Yelp
One of my new favorite spots for authentic, delicious Szechuan/Chinese food!! Whenever I crave it, I drive over an hour to eat here -- worth it! Inside is a smaller, simple setting for some spicy dishes! Cumin Fish 11/10 - light, crispy outside and flaky inside - comes with onion, bell pepper, and pepper - has a spicy kick to it (but not too spicy for me) - my favorite dish! Pork with String Bean 9/10 - flavorful string beans with ground pork Mapo Tofu 8/10 - blocks of delicious tofu with ground pork - not spicy at all (at least to me) Chicken 9/10 - crispy as well! - cumin fish is still the winner Beef with Bitter Melon - I won't rate since I'm not a fan of bitter melon, but the beef was tender! Service was super quick! We got our food in less than 10 mins, and they were very welcoming!

Aguuch M.

Yelp
Worst service, angry people. Not recommended at all I waited a long time but didn't say anything. They were fighting in the kitchen, then came out and threw my order on the table... My shirt got messed up. Well, thanks for helping with my next meeting! I won't recommend this to anyone ever .

Jacob B.

Yelp
The Sichuan dishes from award winning chef are best in the DMV. Conveniently located near home depot and BJ's of seven corners

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill. Last night I ordered what they claim to be their number 1 dish: Diced Chicken with Hot Peppers. It's pictured as chicken chunks with bits of red pepper in a savory sauce. What I got was what looked like a bucket of bone-dry and overly fried chicken skin pieces with hunks of red pepper. No sauce, no flavor, and damn little actual chicken meat. It was gross.

Allen H.

Yelp
My go to spot for authentic Chinese takeout in the Arlington area. Being located next to the OG Padaek location, it's always a toss up as to which restaurant I will end up in. Items to get: - Fries chicken with dried chili peppers: SPICY but very delicious (and self explanatory). You will find yourself picking through the peppers for every last morsel of chicken - Fish and bean curd with spicy sauce: huge chunks of white fish stewed in a Szechuan style sauce with equally huge chunks of tofu that soak up all the spicy goodness - Cumin lamb: super seasoned and well-cooked lamb with a variety of tasty vegetables If you order online, there's also some dope freebies you can get for exceeding a certain $ amount order Basically, the epitome of the 3.5 star Chinese takeout rule - go for the authentic dishes only

Gabrielle K.

Yelp
Closest you can get to NYC Chinese in the area! Their chicken and broccoli, egg rolls, and lo mein are my favorites

Paul S.

Yelp
Came back again and another great meal. Ordered fried chicken w/ hot peppers, fish filet tofu w/ spicy sauce, dan dan noodles, scallion pancake, and salt pepper pork chop. The chicken, noodles, and fish I've ordered before and all very good. The fish in particular is a really big portion that can be shared by up to 4 people easily. Pork chops were also very good and a pretty good serving to share. Pancake was just OK, and very little scallions. Service is pretty good here, totally shaming most other Chinese places.

Robert C.

Yelp
Haven't been here in a long time but tried it again on the Chinese New Year. Food was very good and the staff very friendly. Started with hot and sour soup and dumplings. Moved on to Kung Pao Chicken and General Tsao chicken. Everything was excellent and can't wait to go back.

Janet P.

Yelp
My word, is this place good. Small, casual, super friendly staff. A few things are real standouts. Last night, the duck, so smoky and crispy! This is not Peking duck, but if you love duck, get it; it has bones so you might need to use your fingers to get it all. Other spicy standouts, string beans, mapo dofu with pork is salty and spicy heaven. Previous visits, the cumin beef, Singapore noodles, a great lamb dish. I'm so so on the soups, egg drop and hot and sour, and egg rolls. Meals come with rice. They serve bottled beer. Need to come back and try more stuff! Close at nine.

Yelp
This place really proves the 3.5 star sweet spot theory for Chinese restaurants right! It was exactly what i was looking for! Even though two of the things I originally wanted to order they did not have. Was really craving beef tendon and boiling hot soup. The original beef tendon dish i ordered they ran out of so i got the 夫妻肺片instead which was good! Nice spice! We wanted to get the pea shoots but they ran out so got bean curd and celery. I prefer the flavor of the cold dish version but it was fine. I got beef noodle soup. Nice flavor and piping hot temperature which is what i was looking for. The noodles are just the plain kind you can get at asian supermarkets I think it's funny this is called Hong Kong Palace even though it is sichuan food and the chinese lettering outside is chengdu 成都 a city in sichuan My husband got the cumin fish which is basically like chinese fish and chips minus fries but with hot peppers. Service was good. Came on friday for lunch so not busy This place has the familiar Chinese restaurant vibe--paper with the chinese zodiac animals, older chinese ladies chattering in background about stuff being expensive, chinese music or tv on in background, a fish tank (but these were decorative like coy pond fish), tea in those metal pots, specials written by hand on the wall. When check comes they give you these mini candies not fortune cookies and/or oranges. I am okay with this. Husband says they taste like cherry luden's. No

Jon D.

Yelp
Great classic old school Chinese carry out if you want good fast carry out not that expensive

Fabian M.

Yelp
Came here last week with a few friend's and ordered plenty of the staple sichuan dishes. And aside from the Bitter melon, all was consistently good. I have never been let down from this place in the past. Service was good, wait staff was attentive and the water constantly filled. I do recommend their ChongChing Chicken (Popcorn spice chicken). You can also ask for extra chicken if you got a big party. But this time we got their fried fish filet dry pot, and this was a gem of a dish. Similar to a dish I once use to get all the time in Pittsburgh's how lee. String beans here was also well cooked and flavored, and better then other Sichuan places in the DMV. Come with a big group here to sample alot more dishes!!!!

Michael L.

Yelp
Love so many of the dishes here. Favorite appetizer: spicy wonton Favorite dishes: Stuffed pepper chicken Cumin Fish MaPo Tofu Crispy Beef Szechuan Green Beans Salty Spicy Shrimp

S J.

Yelp
Excellent food very friendly service at times. The owner is very nice. I highly recommend this place if you like spicy foods, it is very authentic.

Ray P.

Yelp
We had a LONG history with this joint. First came to visit after having been through the nightmare of seven corners traffic pattern as a out-of-towner in a rainy evening back in 2009 when we came to visit DC. After we moved to this region, this would still be our go-to place for some authentic Sichuan cuisine. Their price was also very affordable compared to other authentic Chinese places around. However, the most recent two visits made me believe that they were going downhill in terms of the food, possibly changed the chef despite the fact that the owner seems still remain. One distinct sign is the Mouthwatering chicken (appetizer) this most recent time. Normally it should be thick slices of bone-in chicken, but it came with dices chicken meat, god knows where that came from, but one thing for sure, not Sichuan. The noodle was way over salty as well. I'm about to call it off sadly...

Gregory K.

Yelp
Food is actually pretty good here. The problem is that every time I order delivery, my credit card gets hacked a day or two later. The same credit card I used to order delivery. I don't know if their website has been compromised or if an unscrupulous employee is stealing credit card information but I don't believe this is a coincidence. Once could be. Not multiple times. I'll give them some stars since their food is good, but not good enough to be worth having your credit card stolen. And that's exactly what they do. Or someone else does by hacking their website. Not really sure. But extremely sus.

Henry F.

Yelp
So HK Palace is one of the only places that serves sichuan cuisine. Confusing? Yes. But is it a good place to satisfy your spicy cravings? Absolutely. We've tried a ton of dishes here and are a fan of the fish with vegetable in peppery broth, the cumin lamb/beef, dan dan noodles. Overall, don't think we've had anything disappointing here. The meats are always cooked well and the flavors are on point. They have specials in Chinese on the board too which can be great. Definitely coming back!

Betty H.

Yelp
Place is good but I found a bug in my beef noodle soup. The chicken wings are also not fried very well (or breaded very much)

Victoria N.

Yelp
I had ordered their snap peas and chicken, with a request of undercooking the snap peas. The request was successful! The snap peas were crunchy and utterly delicious! The actual dish -- it was supposed to be spicy, but the spice level for me was 1/10. I had asked for extra hot sauce, and they provided a spice that was not hot at all! When I asked for another hot sauce or jalapeño, they had mentioned they do not offer anything spicier. Overall, I love the dish with rice. It's definitely filling and was tasty, but it's not at all spicy. The added spice flavor would enhance the dish. They are able to do separate checks -- and we had a group of 5 people!

James B.

Yelp
In days past I really enjoyed eating here in person, and the food was excellent. But I've tried delivery a couple of times and I'm sorry to say it was god awful. I don't know if it's inflation and using lower quality ingredients, or if it's bc it was delivery so they didn't need to look me in the eye lol. I hope they bounce back.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service. The broth was extremely flavorful and just the right amount of kick from spice. The dumplings were hearty and delicious as well. Great spot!

Thalia C.

Yelp
I placed a semi big order for pick up, when I got home I realized my Hunan Chicken was missing. We used to go all the time but noticed anytime we make a big purchase something was always wrong or missing. We got home and once I saw I was missing my food and all my family was eating, I called the store and notified them. They basically called me a liar and said they were 1000% sure the food item was in the bag and did not want to listen to me. At this point I was already over my appetite and informed them to just forget about it and I will start a dispute through my bad. The food has definitely not been as good as it used to be and the service and the way they came about my missing item was so rude. I wouldn't call them if I had my food for no reason, either way I don't think I will be going back and I will definitely start a dispute through my bank once this transaction posts.

Yelp
Don't let the restaurant name fool you. If you are itching for Sichuan spicy, say no more. This is the place. The most authentic Sichuan food in the DMV area. The owners/chefs are originally chefs from Sichuan Cheungdu. I couldn't tolerate a drop of spicy chili oil at all before. However, I got hooked when I first tried HKP's Chengdu month-watering chicken. It's the perfect appetizer to stimulate appetite and to ease into Sichuan spicy if you have never had before. When I took my family there, they killed the entire month-watering chicken dish in 5 mins and even packed up the leftover sauce for to-go so they could try to remake the dish at home. It was truly month-watering and that amazing! I have tried many versions of the same dish from other restaurants but none of it could beat HKP's. After years of dinning in at and ordering takeout from HKP, my tolerance of spiciness have been trained and increased. I ventured to try so many other delicious dishes such as ground pork & pickled long beans, fried intestine with chili peppers and chengdu spicy cold noodles. It always comes through and hits the spot.

Emma Z.

Yelp
I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed Hong Kong Palace, because I've been coming here since around 2012 on the recommendation of a Taiwanese-born coworker. It's a good spot for Sichuan dishes--don't let the restaurant name fool you. It's tucked behind Home Depot in one of the Seven Corners shopping plazas. My favorite treat is getting a whole steamed fish. We recently ordered this for delivery, and it was very well wrapped so that none of the sauce leaked. I haven't been into the restaurant since the pandemic, but in the past, they had a tank with live fish. Can't get more fresh! I also like the Dan Dan noodles and the green beans. Next time I'll probably order the mapo tofu, which I recall being good when I had it a while back. I've eaten in the restaurant, which was fine, but it's on the smaller side and can get a bit crowded (pre-pandemic). This may stay in my Chinese food takeout rotation for the foreseeable future.

Jake M.

Yelp
Come here if you are looking for a more authentic Chinese food experience. Food was great. We had tried another Chinese place somewhat in the area and this place was tastier, more reasonably priced and better portions. Service was also very good. Water kept filled and food came out quickly. The place is a little cramp. But they have tables big enough for some large parties. Will likely be coming back while visiting the area.

Joey L.

Yelp
Best sichuaniese food in the DMV area been open many years. The manager is very friendly it's either really busy or super slow food is incomparable.

Amelie L.

Yelp
I definitely enjoyed the sichuan food here. It is authentic sichuan flavor! Thank you so much for making such delicious dishes! I'll definitely come back.

Erika S.

Yelp
I appreciate their extensive menu (which includes even Dong Po braised pork!), but the flavors were a little too simple--salty and sweet. I wish it was more complex with fresh spices. Still, one of the few places that offer authentic beef noodle soup.

Bojack H.

Yelp
Tried Hong Kong Palace for the first time tonight for take out. I was hopeful since the results were decent. Ordered Egg Rolls, Wanton Soup, General Tao's Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice. To start off my order was incorrect I was missing one of my orders of soup =(, we'll see if I get my money back. The soup was decent but definitely have had more flavorful soup elsewhere. The General Tao's and the shrimp fried rice were very bland. The best dish was the egg rolls, but it was fried and covered in duck sauce.

Aki T.

Yelp
We had lunch again since last time was two years ago before pandemic. All the dishes were delicious, the owner was friendly as the same. In Falls Church, this is one of our favorite places to go.

Nikki B.

Yelp
A few weeks ago, I randomly selected this restaurant on DD. I was craving Chinese. It was so good the first time, I ordered a 2nd time, for #YelpsBigNightIn. Veggie fried rice, egg roll, and kung pao chicken & shrimp. Arrived in 30 minutes, contact free delivery (thanks, covid19), perfectly cooked, flavorful, great portion sizes and price range. I admit I ate too much and I still have leftovers. Can't wait to eat the rest.

Ross L.

Yelp
Really good General Tso's and lo mein. Best I've had in NoVA so far. Saw lots of Chinese people inside which is a good sign!

Peggy E.

Yelp
If we could give less than one star we would. The food was very greasy. We had 3 different dishes and all of us felt the same. Really bad. Did not even save the leftovers (more than 1/2 leftover), it was THAT bad. Shame on this restaurant- just BAD.

Bianca S.

Yelp
Ordered takeout. Recommend ordering by phone as it was a very easy process. There was a pick up station after entering the restaurant, and I was able to pick up and pay with quickly and with ease. Service was good and the food was good!! My only gripe was all the waste in the form of packaging. Wish I could bring my receptacles... Overall, I would go again, but maybe in person this time to avoid all the packaging.

Yelp
Title: Horrible Experience at Hong Kong Palace in Falls Church, Virginia Review: I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Hong Kong Palace in Falls Church, Virginia, and I must say it was a truly disappointing visit. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was abysmal. The manager, who should have been a source of assistance, demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and basic manners. When my party of six arrived, we were met with utter indifference. The manager's attitude towards us was nothing short of appalling. Instead of helping us find a suitable table, she rudely told us to "be quiet and just wait" and completely ignored our requests. It was an extremely disheartening start to our meal, and sadly, things only went downhill from there. The quality of the food at Hong Kong Palace was equally disappointing. Not only did it take an unreasonable amount of time for our dishes to arrive, but when they finally did, the taste left much to be desired. The beef dish we ordered had a strange, off-putting flavor that resembled the presence of some kind of chemical. It certainly did not taste like beef at all and left us questioning the quality and hygiene of their ingredients. Overall, I cannot stress enough how much I would not recommend Hong Kong Palace in Falls Church. The terrible customer service we experienced, coupled with the subpar and suspiciously flavored food, made for an extremely unpleasant dining experience. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a better option in the area.

Silke F.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service and great place to get your dim sum fix. Go and try it. Dumplings were very good.

Douglas S.

Yelp
Consistent good quality and they are trying to keep the prices down as much as possible. Service (carry out) was as good as it gets. Bare bones and very functional dinning room

Johana A.

Yelp
Love the fried rice, very flavorful. The staff is friendly and food is not overpriced.

Nick S.

Yelp
Do not use their website!!! The food is quite good, but either their website has been hacked or an employee is using it to steal credit card information. I sent them a message through the website but never received a response so I want to make sure people are aware. The website is hongkongpalacedelivery.com, and I used it regularly for years to order and it worked fine. Recently my credit card info was stolen and used in another state shortly after I ordered from the website, and then when it was replaced it happened again just a few days after the next time I ordered through the website. At that time all I had was a strong suspicion, but today I just discovered more fraudulent charges on my debit card, which I never use for purchases except one time ordering from the Hong Kong Palace website while I waited for my replacement credit card. Again, I highly encourage you to get food from here--my favorites are the Dan Dan noodles and the fish and tofu in spicy sauce. Just don't do it through their website, because your financial information is not secure. 1 star to get your attention, 5 stars for the food.

Audrey L.

Yelp
If I were to base my review on the dishes alone, I would have given 5 stars in a heartbeat. We ordered fried chicken with hot peppers, crispy beef, fish in peppery broth, and dandan noodles. All the dishes we had were excellent and very tasty. The service however, was not great. It was not the worst, maybe to be expected from a small Chinese restaurant with only 1 server/waitress. I do believe she could have improved her manner and her attitude. To be fair, she was running around. She had to answer the phone as soon as it rang, she took orders, she served the dishes, she also cleaned the tables, and she had to great the customers. It was a lot for one person to handle on a Saturday.

Chris C.

Yelp
Covid 2020 Review: Great option for takeout! - Food is delicious - Quick and friendly service - Affordable Pricing - You can call in your order and even use Door Dash (pickup) as well. - Speciality dishes are more Szechuan (spicy) than Hong Kong Style. Definitely check it out if you're in the area and are looking for Chinese takeout!

Miranda J.

Yelp
Hong Kong palace has been my go to Chinese place in the area for the last six years. The quality of the food is consistent and it's pretty good considering it's Chinese take out. The shrimp lo mein, egg fried rice and Dan Dan noodles are a few of my favorite items to order they make!

Fox E.

Yelp
Coincidentally, my nickname in college was Hung Kong Palace. Not sure why. I really like this authentic, delicious Chinese restaurant in the VA burbs of DC, although I don't like that somebody at the place - I assume - keeps deleting my pictures of the place. But the food was really good and tasty - especially the Lamb Cumin dish. Service was a little bit less tasty but when the food tastes this good, it's okay with me. Prices are cheap and it's definitely one of the better Asian places to eat in the DC area. It's been a hong time since I ate here, but you should try it anyway, because I wouldn't steer you kong.

Q. S.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite restaurants, after I moved, I haven't came for several years. Today I was craving transitional Szechuan food, so I decided to place delivery order from here. Not sure if the chef was changed or something, but none of the dish tasted great(as great as before) as others mentioned, it's overpriced too. I am gonna stick with my China star.

Ricky D.

Yelp
Hidden diamond of a restaurant. The Chinese food is delicious, the service is quick and polite, priced reasonably, and I've never had a bad meal here. Highly recommend the combination lo mein, steamed dumplings, orange chicken, and kung pao. Be aware: they don't skimp on the spicy!

Robin O.

Yelp
I'm not sure how I ended up here. Literally. And I hate that word that's literally used every other literal moment. But it's true. Not sure why I agreed to run countless errands on a sunny day so damn beautiful that even the Almighty took it off. But I did. And after standing in-line for about 20 minutes to be helped by someone who told me what I needed to do had to be done online AFTER I was told by customer service to handle it in-person? After that? After walking out and seeing this lil restaurant staring me down? Well I did what any normal person would do - I decided to ditch my diet and get an egg roll. Then I decided to order the Triple Kung Pao as well. And a pot of tea. (Of course I had tea! You think you're reading the words of some uncivilized barbarian? ) Everything was fresh, quick, plentiful and economical. Service is quite polite though it's a small place and you'll end up listening to them barking orders at each other in the kitchen as they scurry to handle the ridiculous amount of carry out and delivery orders they get. Didn't bother me any. It's not a destination place. I'm not running out to meet anyone here. That said, plenty of people do. Half of the restaurant's footprint is taken up by large, circular tables meant for 8-10 people. It's cute. It was clean. Decor was standard. It fit the bill for what I needed today. If you're in the area, drop in or order out.

Anna W.

Yelp
I'm sorry but I'm very disappointed in our last lunch order. We got 4 lunch specials and the only decent thing were the green beans. We also did not like the very heavy egg roll that basically has cabbage wrapped in wonton skin. We asked for hot pepper and didn't get any. Sweet and Sour chicken - horrible! It had 3 times more flour coating versus the chicken. Picture attached. In fact the coring was so thick that the chicken shrank to being a tiny bit in a huge piece of coating. Sesame chicken- also super heavy on the flour breading. Super heavy on the sauce and very sweet. Crispy beef - it was just ok but since they were sent in a plastic container the crispness was gone. We live maybe a 5 mins drive from restaurant. This should have been served in a container that could have holes poked to allow the crispness to remain and hold its taste. Green beans - good flavor and were done to my general softness to crispy ratio. We have gotten lunch and dinner from this place before and they were pretty good so hoping this is a fluke but may leave them out of my rotation for a while.

Diana R.

Yelp
Sitting at home starving on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I never ordered from here before, but boy am I glad I gave them a try... Shrimp with lobster sauce was amazing full of flavor and jumbo shrimp and then I got the medium heat Szechuan style pork dumplings.. everything was very good! No pictures because I devoured it.

Dee M.

Yelp
Racist restaurant. I was here before two Chinese families came in. Those families got their food first. Where's mine? I'm alone at my table. My food should've been cooked a long time ago. I walked out after finishing my egg drop soup. No tip. My Chinese friend is right, it seems. She said at Chinese restaurants, they give you more attention and better service if you are Chinese/Taiwanese.
