⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pleasantly Surprised and Truly Satisfied! We visited Hong Kong Pearl Seafood Restaurant from Upstate NY and Pennsylvania to meet up with family who dines here often — and we were pleasantly surprised! The food was authentic Cantonese style and absolutely delicious. Because they knew my brother, the staff was genuinely happy to see him and it showed — every dish came out fresh, hot and perfectly cooked. You could taste the care in every bite. We’re part Cantonese (from Chinatown, NYC), so we understand what to expect from true Cantonese server energy, lol and this place definitely lived up to it. It was like old school Chinese/dim sum places in NY. Definitely made me feel at home. There were 15 of us, and we ordered a generous amount — dim sum, soups, and a wide variety of dishes. Everything came out flawless and we even had plenty to take home. The total came to just over $400 (plus tax and tip) and we made sure to leave a respectable gratuity because great service deserves it. Overall, a wonderful family dining experience — flavorful food, warm atmosphere and service that made us feel welcomed and appreciated. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Virginia!

We’ve eaten at this restaurant for dim sum many many times. This is our first time trying dinner. It was a smaller crowd. They only had 2 waiters. The dinner menu was extensive. Over it wasn’t great Chinese food but it wasn’t bad Chinese food either. East Pearl in Rockville is still hands down the best Chinese food Hong Kong style hands down . The salt factor was lacking in all the food but that’s not a bad thing on some dishes. The price is probably one of the lowest of all the Chinese restaurants in the area and it was big portions. Overall, I would eat again if I’m craving for Chinese food. This restaurant is always forgettable because you have Eden Center across the street with multiple Vietnamese, Korean and Thai options .

This used to be my go to Dim Sum restaurant, I haven’t been in over a year at least but I was sooo disappointed this afternoon. They weren’t doing regular dim sum service, we had to chose our items from a sheet and they were brought out as they were ready. We were brought a basically room temperature tea pot and had to ask for a hot one. When the waitress reviewed my selections she asked me “are you sure you want chicken feet?”… why would I have selected that if I didn’t want it? I’m hoping that my race had nothing to do with that question. This put me off tremendously, she also lied to me twice about the soy sauce on the table being the sweet soy sauce until I finally tried it and told her (as I already knew) that it was not so she would bring me some. The food: Chive dumplings - ok, but undercooked (I’m used to a crisp side where it is cook in the pan and it was just barely cooked enough in the inside. Shrimp dumplings - the actual dumpling was too thick and gummy, very little flavor in the inside shrimp part. Roast pork - the pork was undercooked and the fat had barely rendered. The top was crispy, but only because they used a torch on it quickly or broiled it, it wasn’t that nice, crispy, smooth roast pork skin that you get when it is cooked correctly. Salt n pepper shrimp - had a thick coat of breading on them (almost like tempura) and had absolutely NO flavor of salt or pepper or much of anything else. Soup dumplings - I don’t know how they tasted because I could look at the dumpling and tell that it was gummy, looked almost gritty, way too thick and just unappetizing in general. Shrimp roll - same, really thick and gummy with hardly any flavor. Sticky rice - ok flavor but extremely overcooked. I am so sad, I brought someone who had never had dim sum and I was hyping it up so much… this was a huge letdown. I will unfortunately have to search for a new dim sum restaurant.

The atmosphere, food, and employees were all amazing. Ordering dim sum can sometimes feel overwhelming... especially when you're feeding a group or dealing with the busy rush of carts weaving through the restaurant, but the staff here made everything easy. Everyone was calm, friendly, and helpful. The servers were great at making sure we got what we wanted, and when we passed on certain dishes, they were completely understanding. The food itself was excellent. The quality stood out, and even the chicken feet: always a hit-or-miss item...but here it was a hit here. Not gamey, not overly herby, just really well prepared. After things slowed down, a server came by to check our tea kettle and refilled it without us even asking. They didn't rush us or push for anything "to go," which we really appreciated. It made the experience feel relaxed and thoughtful. I'd definitely come back again.

Dim Sum on Saturday is the place to be. The variety of food is tremendous. The prices are great. You determine what you get and what you get to take home.

Really good Chinese food. Dim sum selection was fantastic. We also had some barbecued pork and duck that was so delicious.

Came on a Sunday at 1pm, full tables but was easily seated. Everyone was so nice. Everything we ordered was delicious. Had a great time here! Definitely coming back and I would recommend this place to anyone!

TL;DR, food is bland, service is bad, tableware is dirty, go to Mark’s Duck House 5 minutes down the street instead. Food is very very bland or way too salty. Went here for dim sum and got the Crab Balls, Beef Chow Fun, Roast Duck, Shumai, and Steamed Spareribs. Chow fun was bland and tasted like nothing, Roast duck was almost all fat only and cold, and way too salty. The crab balls were under fried and also somehow very bland. Shumai was good and the spareribs were all right, but don’t come here looking for the diamonds in a pile of poop. Service is also slow like you’re being ignored even after you call out or try to wave someone down. Servers were curt. The tea cup I got had black residue on it, and the tea pot was poorly washed, also have dried black residue. When they gave water, my glass has a very visible dry lipstick stain.

Went for dim sum on father's day. There was a wait, but only 15 minutes. The good: Sooo many choices! The bad: Sooo many choices! And the servers swarm you the second you sit down. So harden yourself and be ruthless in choosing dishes. We liked the fried prawns, stir fried beef, stuffed crab claw, steamed buns, and shrimp dumplings the best. We were okay with the bun filled with red bean paste (should have had more filling), roast pork (should have had less fat and more meat), and singapore noodles (should have had more meat). We did not like the baby octopus because even though they had a good flavor, they were like trying to chew rubber erasers. Overall, it was fun sharing a bunch of small plates and trying some new foods. We will definitely be back.

I suggested this to mom and dad for dinner as we were searching for something close to Arlington. I heard they have dim sum here and made a strong case to stop here which fortunately we did. I was hoping we would do a large order of dim sum and pig out on that. But mom and dad decided on ordering some other chinese entrees in addition to dim sum. Looking back on it, I'm glad they did. After discussion we went with the following: Siu Mai (steam pork) dim sum: 4/5 Tofu Skin Roll dim sum: 5/5 Curry Shrimp (or Walnut Shrimp, at least that's what it looked like?); 4/5 Black Bean Pepper Steak: 5/5 Chinese Garlic Spinach: 4/5 Steamed Flounder: 5/5 (The Best) All the dishes ranged from good to great with the tofu skin roll dim sum and pepper steak being some of the better ones. The siu mai was very good although I can't say it's the best. The curry shrimp was tasty with large pieces and the the pasty curry sauce. We thought it was the walnut shrimp but the server mentioned it was the curry sauce so I'll take their word for it. The spinach is fine and does the trick when you need veggies although I'd probably prefer something broccoli related. But mom and dad won out. Best dish was that steamed flounder served with the head and bones. Don't be discouraged by the head and bones, it is to this day the most tender and softest fish I've ever eaten. Steamed in a soy broth with ginger and scallions, the fish easily can be pulled apart with the right balance of salitness and sweetness. I strongly encourage people to order this. DO NOT BE GROSSED BY THE HEAD AND THE BONES; THIS ADDS FLAVOR AND TAKES THE TASTE TO ANOTHER LEVEL! It's a laid back dining area that has the look of a sweet sixteen dance in high school with the table cloths and pink chairs. The servers push carts of dim sum around making it easy to order and see what the items are or you can order traditional or americanized chinese dishes from the standard menu, if that's your thing. I will try to get friends to come and check this out. Mom and Dad were happy with the decision to come here. This won't be our last visit, I guarantee you that!

Have eaten dimsum here so many times- service is decent even when it's really busy. The place is huge but during lunchtime it always fills up with 30+ minute waits which shows how many people like this place. Did a take out and the food was very good. Would definitely recommend.

Still our favorite dim sum place in the DMV. Every time we try a new place, we have regrets about not just going here! We love everything here. They come around with the food and you pick what you want. Our favorites are the har gow, shumai, vegetable and meat dumplings (get both, normally I don't like veggie but these are extra good), fried shrimp ball, shrimp crepe, sesame ball, and more. We usually try 1-2 new things each time we come and are happy. Eggplant is good too. Groups- great seating for larger groups. You just may have to wait longer for a table at prime hours. Payment - you can pay with credit card. No amex. Reservations - I have only ever been here for dim sum in the morning, so I'm not sure if they take reservations at other times in the day but no reservations. You walk in and put your name down and stand there until they call your name. It is busy by 10:30am on the weekends. Parking - there is a large free parking lot, but if you go at busy hours you may not find a spot.

Food was good, we liked everything we ordered . Dim sum is made to order. I recommend. Service was good and the waitstaff is attentive. Our waitress gave us recommendations, and our favorite is the pepper steak.

Although the restaurant is called Hong Kong Pearl Seafood, the Chinese characters on their sign translates to, "forever fortune seafood restaurant" in Cantonese. Huh? Why not Hong Kong Pearl? Because Wing Fat Trading Corp owns the restaurant. Wing Fat is Cantonese for "forever fortune." Calling the restaurant Forever Fortune (in English) probably didn't sound good. You'll have to ask the owner why Hong Kong Pearl was chosen. My wife and I came here for dim sum. Their prices ranged from $5.50 to $15.95 per dish. Tea was $1 per person. We tried 10 dishes. 1) 3 Cold Appetizers Platter A. Baby Octopus Baby octopus is a marketing name for several species of very small octopi. No babies are involved. This dish had many octopi marinated in a lightly flavored red sauce that was slightly peppery and a bit salty with a touch of sweetness for balance. If they could intensify the flavor, this dish would be tasty. The red color is most likely from food color. B. White Radish and Carrot Slaw It was slightly tangy and sweet with a light crispness in texture. The flavor was simple and lacked depth. C. Shredded Jellyfish It had a light peppery soy sauce flavor. No sesame oil flavor. It had a nice crunch. Decent, but I've had better. 2) Clams with garlic sauce It had a good number of well cooked small clams in their shell. There's always a few that don't open. The sauce had a light flavor of garlic and seasonings. This was a good dish in a typical way. 3) Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll There were 9 pieces of medium-sized shrimp in soft stretchy rice dough wraps. They sat in a slightly sweet soy sauce. The shrimp were lightly seasoned and tender. Overall, the taste and texture were very good. 4) Singapore Noodles It had rice vermicelli, shrimp, chicken, onions, carrots, green onions, and sesame seeds. The vegetables were sparse, and the noodles were abundant and somewhat dry. It needed sesame oil. It was moderately spicy with a flavorful curry. The chicken and shrimp were tender and moist, but sparse also. With some changes, this would be an excellent dish. 5) Garlic Stir-fry Chinese Spinach The spinach had a strong greens flavor with a touch of bitterness. It was coated with an oil sauce that tasted like light soy sauce and msg. No garlic flavor. It was good, but not special. 6) Chicken Feet or Phoenix Claw They were huge in size. It had a mung bean sauce with lots of sesame oil. It was slightly sweet and peppery with a deep-fried flavor. The skin and tendons were very soft. This dish was made well. 7) Steamed Spareribs in black bean sauce It had a lot of bone. There was not much bean flavor, but there was a nice balance of seasonings. The meat was tender and savory. There were some small pieces of taro. A great tasting dish. More meat and less bone, please. 8) Sweet Soft Tofu It had a very soft tofu in a syrup with mild flavors of sugar, vanilla, and ginger. If they add a little more sugar, this dessert would be perfect. It was very good, nonetheless. 9) Pineapple Bun with egg custard filling. It was filled with slightly sweet egg custard. It was thick and creamy with flavors of egg yolk, milk, and butter. The bun was soft and slightly sweet with a crumbly topping that had a milky egg yolk flavor. The taste was excellent. FYI, there's no pineapple in these buns. The name refers to the pineapple shell like pattern on the topping. This place did a bad job on that. 10) Steamed Pork Bun The bun was soft and fluffy with a very mild sweetness. The shredded roasted pork filling had a sauce that was well-rounded in flavor. It was a beautiful blend of sweet, salty, and umami ingredients. I could taste onions, sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and chicken stock. A perfect example of steamed pork bun made right. We arrived at 9:50 am on a Saturday and they were letting customers in. No carts were circulating until 10 am. We got a table even though we were waiting for our friend, Marivic (a Yelp Elite). It wasn't crowded until 11 am. They offered 3 types of tea: oolong, jasmine, and chrysanthemum. I got chrysanthemum. It had a gentle floral flavor with no bitterness. The service was responsive, helpful, and quick. The dining room and restrooms were clean, but dated. The ambiance was upscale and traditional. They are located in a small shopping center with free parking. Their food and variety are superior to most places in the DMV area for dim sum, so give them a visit if that's what you're looking for. I found some negative aspects in their food on this visit, so I had to lower my rating.

Came in after 8pm on a Tuesday night...our waitress was absolutely a GEM...we followed her recommendations for salt n pepper spare ribs (came out crispy with lots of lean pork, not fatty chunks), garlic sweet pea sprouts (wok flavor and cooked perfectly), yang chow fried rice( wok flavored and can taste the umami, either dried shrimp or fry scallops), sizzling black bean beef (so tender and delicious), tofu and veggies, salt n pepper fish fillets (crunchy and light), chicken with onion n ginger sauce... Everything was so yummy. Very generous portions. Our waitress even packed our food to go... Five big stars for the food and excellent customer service...thank you!

Nothing too much to say here. Quintessential traditional dim sum experience. They have all the classics here, highly recommend the 流沙包 (liu sha bao, salted duck yolk bao.) Bring a large group and ideally a Chinese speaker or someone familiar with what they are ordering for a good time.

What happened to this place? I used to like Hong Kong Pearl before covid stuck. I haven't been back since, until yesterday. Now I know I wasn't missing anything, and I'll never have to go back. I ordered Hot and Sour soup and Beef Chow Foon for takeout. When I picked it up, it smelled great, and I was looking forward to a good lunch. When I got home, I was disappointed. Nothing tasted good. In fact, there wasn't much taste at all. The soup tasted like vinegar and soy sauce. The Chow Foon, and there was a lot of it, was tasteless. I ended up tossing most of it in the trash and writing off the expense as a lesson learned. Maybe you can learn the same lesson while avoiding the expense.

We came here for dinner and also ordered from the all day dimsum menu. Food was mediocre. Salt and pepper shrimp was not fresh. The meat of the shrimp was mushy. Crispy beef was not crispy but soggy. Overly sweet. Salt and pepper pork was bland, not really much flavor. Most interesting and disappointing was the crispy intestine. It was not crispy and was fried in a batter similar to the salt and pepper pork. Usually this dish should be crispy with no batter and comes with a dipping sauce. The dimsum items were okay.

We came here for Sunday morning dim sum. We got there when it opened at 10am - but apparently people got there earlier and lined up. The restaurant was already in full swing at 10am - tables were full and dim sum carts were being pushed around. They have plenty of tables, but they won't seat you until the majority of your party is standing in the restaurant (being in the parking lot is not sufficient). There was constantly a queue of people waiting for tables to be ready, so get there early! Their goal during the dim sum weekend rush is to get you your food and serve as many customers as possible. They are efficient that way; they're not here to coddle you. They have several different carts featuring a variety of dishes - a seafood cart, steamed dim sum cart, congee cart, noodle cart, and baked goods cart. They have all of the classic dim sum dishes and more. The carts are wheeled around frequently enough to hit the different tables until each gets their fill. Service was easy to flag down if you needed something - tea refills, water refills, the check, etc. We had shumai, har gow, beef chow fun, congee, curry fish balls, green beans, clams, fried shrimp and taro, shrimp balls, sticky rice, rice roll, crispy skin roast pork, and char siu. Overall, the flavors of the dishes were good. The clams were a little disappointing because a good portion of them were closed. For dessert, we had egg tarts, sesame balls, and pineapple buns. I was not a fan of the egg tarts - the filling was way too buttery in an off-putting way. I don't know that I would choose this place over Han Palace in Tysons, but the food and experience were solid.

This place is ripoff Don't go there. We had a mother's day dinner. It ended up costing us $350 for the standard food, except the Lobster is usually $$$$ The dishes are not tasty as all. They put extra 18% service charge on only 5 people There is no service at all I can cook better food. Lobsters don't taste good, the sauce is no taste. Please don't go there.

Came for CNY and was pleased that even though dim sum ended at 3:30pm on this Saturday, they had "late night" dim sum we could order for dinner (but without the carts). A traditional Chinese banquet hall style Cantonese style restaurant with several tea options. The dim sum selection was good, with prices around $6-8 per plate. Portion sizes were decent, just confused that they weren't able to cut any of the food for us (like they would with the carts, usually?) Service was overall decent. Would come back for cart service :)

Fantastic selection of food. No menu, they bring carts of food around and you pick and pass around the table family style. So the service was plentiful. The atmosphere was a bit chaotic but overall appropriate for the experience

Definitely not the best dim sum around, but a decent "no-frills" spot at that. I'll definitely be back for a quick fix. P.S. you can skip the XLB. Very bland and tasteless.

I have tried dimsum from many places in dmv, and as an Asian who grew up in Asia eating dimsum, this place unfortunately does not meet expectations in food, service or ambiance and certainly can't compare to other dimsum restaurants in dmv. 6/7 of the dishes we ordered came cold and stale, evidently left out for a while. This is the first place that I experienced this. In addition, it is also not the best tasting one when compared to competitors. Minimal service, which I was not concerned. We were however overcharged when I was sure we ordered 7, but they charged me twice for a dish that we ordered through the menu but came from the little roller cart (and both were recorded on the order card hence double charging me) and I have tried explaining to them -- but they were insistent that there was no mistake, hence we ended up paying $6 more. We were seated near the inner side, where people were rolling tables around while we were eating, hence there's no ambiance, so do take that into consideration if you are someone who values environment. The same restaurant in Gaithersburg, Maryland is comparatively better in quality and service and I would really recommend trying that :)

Best Dim Sum in Northern Virginia! Most small plates cost between $7 - $8. Everyone we ordered was delicious.

Hong Kong Pearl is Cantonese style dim sum. They are one of the best if not the best around! As expected on a Sunday, there was a wait. We were quoted 10-15 minutes for a party of three and that's about what it was. They have a loud speaker outside by the door and you are paged when your table is ready. The reason there is 4 & not 5 stars is we had barely placed a finger on our seats much less attempted to sit down & we were swarmed with food carts - great but let us sit first & get a beverage & not feel bombarded to rush rush rush. Yes, there is a bit of a language barrier so you may think the cart servers are not friendly but the benefit of the doubt needs to be given along with some grace. Becky was one of the cart servers and she was A-MA-ZING! Super warm & friendly and gave honest suggestions, which we followed and she was spot on! She was super awesome & a breath of fresh air in the rush rush rush atmosphere. Food was delicious & we had a large variety: shrimp dumplings, Shu Mai (pork & shrimp) dumplings, pork dumplings, crab dumplings, scallion & shrimp dumplings, snow pea shoots & garlic, duck, calamari, and dessert dumplings. Everything was truly fantastic but the duck was unexpected as it's served cold so it made the fattiness prominent and was cut with the bones, so it was tricky to eat & simply not what we were expecting. We will definitely be back and definitely a bit more forceful with asking for some time before we're bombarded lol.

Excellent food very nice environment. Highly recommend going to this place. The weight staff is very pleasant and very accommodating. You will not be disappointed.

This used to be my goto late night dim sum place. As far as I know it's the largest dim sum place in falls church and great to have space when eating. Recently came during a week day for lunch and it was not the same as I remember. Condiments were sticky and I was served water in a Styrofoam cup. If I'm going to be spending 30$ plus and dining in I should get a glass cup and more than one tiny napkin. On top of that the shrimp rolls were sub par and all stuck together like pudding. Other then that all the other dishes were fine. Waiters don't seem to care too much about customers. I was never asked if I needed a refill of water until it was time to pay the bill. Even if they saw my cup was empty when came by to collect empty dishes during my meal they just ignored the fact that my cup was empty. I won't ever be coming back for lunch.

Pick-up experience is improving (see my previous reviews). I ordered on DoorDash for self pick up as usual. When I arrived, food wasn't ready, and a new waitress asked me what my phone number was. Baffled, I still gave her my phone number. She said she could not find my order. And then asked if I ordered on app! Indeed I placed my order on DoorDash and I did gesture toward their table clearly marked with the names of each app. Why did she not ask about which app and instead a phone number? In any case, they printed out my order from their computer and went into the kitchen. After some wait my order came out. Food still good. On this particular day, the restaurant was booked for a big wedding (see my photo). Kudos to them for still preparing take out orders relatively fast.

Probably the best dim sum you could find in NoVa... By best, I meant only within NoVa area. This place is in no means as good as dim sum restaurants in NYC nor HK of course. Every time I crave dim sum, I'd come here even though it's not up to traditional dim sum standards. They're the closest I can get to curbing my cravings. Def recommend their steamed rice noodles as that's one of the best things out of all the dishes I've tried. Just to name a few dishes: Beef Rice Noodle Roll Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll Chicken Feet Chive Dumplings Fried Taro Birds Nest Har Gow Shrimp Dumplings Turnip Cake Spare Ribs I'd say give it a try if you've never had dim sum before!

Dim sum with friends here is the perfect pairing! Delicious dumplings, succulent shrimp, heavenly egg tarts...we're in foodie heaven! And let's not forget about that savory duck and pork. And to wash it all down, a warm cup of tea. We ate til we couldn't eat anymore and left as happy little dumpling babies! Dim sum tip: If you need a tea refill, just leave the top propped open! Universal signal to your server.

I've been pretty regular to this place for dim sum cart, but last Saturday when I visited, I found a plastic wrapper inside Shrimp roll. I took a first bite of Shrimp roll, felt something not chewable, and spit out and found it to be a pretty big piece of plastic wrapper. Had I ignored and swallowed, who knows what would have happened!! We also gave them 18% tip regardless of this plastic wrapper for lunch but the waitress gave us a dirty look after seeing the amount. I have no idea why and just am so upset with their food & service that I will be not returning again.

Love this dim sum place. The worst thing about it is that everyone else in NOVA seems to agree and the place is always packed on weekends and holidays.

This was my first visit and it was certainly a lovely one with friends and delicious food. The servers were incredibly attentive and helpful with whatever we might have needed or wanted for that matter. The restaurant was not crazy full but it was hustling as much as it could be on a holiday. I hope to get back to visit at some point soon!

This restaurant was huge and busy yet we had no wait. The food was excellent and there was more variety than the previous dim sum restaurant we had gone to. I loved that they had multiple noodles dishes from which to choose. I love that they heated up our roast pork without even asking. The pork ended up having that crispy skin which I love and it was still juicy. Like I said the place is huge. The chairs were all formally covered yet there is no dress code. There is also a separate room for large parties if needed. I will definitely be back for more.

Good stuff here but pricey. And very noisy with the carpet gone. Parking is terrible.

The dim sum wasn't bad. I will say it took so long for the food to get here and the servers weren't the nicest.

My family and I keep coming back cuz it's their favorite dim sum place. It has a good amount of variety, and the durian is still my absolute favorite. I've had dim sum so much and I'm still not tired of this place.

I need congee when I'm sick. Something about plowing through a steaming bowl of rice Porridge till Sweat beads my Brow Is wonderfully cathartic. Walked in for take out on a Friday night and there were only a few tables occupied. Take out and deliver at was fast and furious though, and since I had to wait almost 20 min for my order (she said the fried tofu takes longer to crisp) I know to call ahead next time. Pricey, but everything is up lately, I'm Just glad There's still places like this serving legit Chinese food and dimsum

A legit dim sum experience. They have the carts being pushed around and the servers that that asked you if you want every item off the cart before they roll away. We got to the restaurant around 11 and were seated immediately. The restaurant was packed. As soon as we sat down, we were offered items off multiple carts, even before we got offered any beverages. Got a pot of tea to accompany the dim sum we were about to devour. I enjoyed every item we got that included: BBQ Pork Buns, Beef Chow Fun, Har Gow, Turnip Cake, pork and shrimp dumpling, char siu, Pineapple Buns, and fried sesame balls. We enjoyed each of the items, as they tasted authentic and what I grew up with. The chow fun wasn't super oily which was good. And our favorite was actually the turnip cake. It was a combination of tofu and turnip that was battered and fried and placed in a sauce that was extra tasty. The restaurant was large and fairly clean. Along the walls had the Chinese decor with dragons and phoenixes.

We went here for dimsum. It was busy as usual, but we had a short wait and we were seated. The food came around quickly. Didn't like it this time. Couple of things were stale (which is weird because they were busy). A few dishes were also cold. I think part of it was us (we didn't just pick our favorites but tried something new) and part of it was the food.

Yes!! Finally found dimsum place! I knew it from the moment I entered the restaurant, this is a legit one! Atmosphere brings back childhood memories. Everything I ordered was delicious! Will bring my old folks here for sure.

Our group of four came here about a week or two ago for dinner. The experience was forgetful. Here are some of the things we ordered. Steamed Chicken Claws ($5): Now these were really good. The skins and the meats were super tender and the juices were flowing! The spices were well balanced. There were just enough pieces for the four of us. Beef Chow Fun ($18ish): We ordered the dim sum version, and they brought us the bigger, dinner version. I felt bad rejecting the dish when they brought it out. So I paid about $10 more for a big noodle dish hahaha. Overall, the dish was okay. It was beef, bean sprouts, and thick noodles all stir-fried. HK Pearl's version did not really stand out from its competitors. Durian Pastry ($9ish): This was the bomb. The pastry was crispy and the durian was just hot enough for consumption. The taste was absolutely delectable. Steam Pork & Shrimp Dumpling ($5): This was okay I guess. The taste was only okay because the dish contained slightly more oil than I expected. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling ($5): This was bad. It was 3 pieces and every one of them was a bit dry. The dumpling sheets on this dish was a bit starchy and hard as well. Some Steamed Veggie Dish ($18): Another flop. All I tasted was an overwhelming amount of garlic and oil. Honestly, with that much added flavor, they should have just overloaded on salt as well. That way, at least the salt can counteract the blandness of the veggie. Instead, I got a bland veggie dish that was supper garlicy and oily. A vampire would have died on the spot eating this dish. We ordered another dish -- it's center dish at the top of the photo -- but I'm forgetting the name. Overall, there were some really good dishes, some meh ones, and some really bad ones. This experience was definitely a 3/5.

Ordered a lot of food for delivery via UberEats and was pretty disappointed with most of them. Won't be ordering from here for a while, maybe delivery is just not that good, need to eat in the restaurant. The only item I liked was the Beef Chow Fun. Other items were: 1. Steamed shrimp rice rolls - rolls had a bad texture after reheating 2. garlic stir fried chinese watercress (on-choy), the stems were really really tough 3. eggplant in garlic sauce - tasted terrible, neon red sauce, and canned mushrooms had terrible texture 4. deep fried spare ribs with salt and pepper - too many tiny bone bits, and this might have been a lot better in restaurant not delivery but I don't want to try again 5. garlic stir fry with string bean - was ok, not great 6. singaporean noodles - was really really dry and don't like the spices, I can make it better at home but it's just a lot of work to do it yourself

Must be the best dimsum place in NoVA. It's a tad pricey but we were seven hungry peeps who rushed in at 11AM. Bill was at $200+ but we added four more desserts and left with three bags of leftover food. Get the pineapple bun! Just do it! (Nite: those buns don't have any pineapple in it- it's a custard bun) The food is flavored well that you don't have to add soy sauce. Easily comparable to NYC's Chinatown dimsum. Craving for good authentic dimsum, this is your place. Kudos and keep up the good food!

I wish I could give this establishment more stars but what started off as a great lunch ended in disaster. We came here for a quick lunch bite to celebrate lunar new year. We knew the restaurant was busy but we were seated right away so we figured the food wait wouldn't be terrible. We were waited on for our food order almost immediately which was great and a good sign. We ordered the following: 1.) Turnip Cakes 2.) Pork Buns 3.) Shrimp Dumplings 4.) Spring Rolls 5.) Soup Dumplings 6.) Deep Fried Taro Dumplings We waited about 45 minutes for our food. After 45 minutes and us complaining to our waitress, we were told our order wouldn't come out because they were unable to make anymore lunch items and it was now dinner time. Furious, we complained to the manager and our waitress. I mean, come on, what kind of service is this?! We could have been told right away when we sat down instead of 45 minutes later as our bellies rumbled louder and louder :) Miraculously, 4 items from our order came out to our table. So it seems like maybe they weren't sold out? Anyway, a fifth item that came was not what we ordered so we sent it back. After quickly chowing down, we paid for our food and left right away not looking back... I should note they tried to charge us for things we did not order...sigh. But, the manager quickly rectified the receipt once we complained. I definitely will not come back here despite the decent food.

Quality of this place is going down each time I visit. I went on a Friday for lunch time and they didn't have carts out so I assumed food would be fresher since they are made to order. But everything tasted terrible. All the dumpling wrappers were so thick. It tasted like they bought frozen dumpling and steamed them? Pork tasted not fresh. Half the items on the menu were also unavailable. The only decent item we ordered turned out to be the egg tarts. Service was terrible even though there were less than 10 people in the restaurant and they had the nerve to hassle us about how much tip to give. I'm not going back here for awhile.

Had some friends visiting town who were in the mood for Dim Sum on a rainy Sunday. Haven't had a chance to go to Hong Kong Pearl in over a few years but decided to give it another shot. It was pretty packed and we had to wait about 30-40 min for a table of 7. Once we got seated service was super fast. It's a traditional dim sum place where dishes are pushed around on a cart and you can pick and choose what you'd like. We got an assortment of different dim sum dishes ranging from the savory classics like (Shu Mai, Har Gow, Pork buns, radish cake, etc.) to other sweets (egg tart, sesame balls etc.) not pictured here. Overall the food was fine. Nothing to complain about but also nothing to write home about. It's tough to compare having had an opportunity to eat a lot of traditional dim sum growing up in LA but Hong Kong Pearl should do in a pinch. Most likely won't self select to be back until other friends want dim sum in the NoVa area. In which case won't complain about eating here again.

We were here for a brunch. We usually go to Mark's duck house, but we decided to check this place out as one of my friends was raving about this place. We arrived around 12 noon. Usually, on the weekends, most of the dim sum places are packed. We were not surprised as even this place was packed and we had to wait half an hour for our seat. Service was good. As soon as you are seated, expect to be surrounded by various servers trying to get rid of their dim sums lol. We paced ourselves very well. We didn't fall into their trap. We calmly asked them to give us only the things we wanted.

This is my favorite place in the DMV to get dim sum. I always go on the weekends when they're pushing the carts around and food is really quick service is good. Price is about average the food taste consistent every time and I can't complain. The restaurant is right across from Eden Center so if you're craving some dessert, there's some dessert in the same plaza or you can go across and get some Boba.

The BEST dim sum ever! I'm a sucker for king prawn dumplings and shrimp and chives dumplings. I didn't know how big the shrimp and chives dumplings would be and they exceeded all expectations. We also got the walnut shrimp and crab rangoon which were equally delicious. The service was great and I really liked how big the restaurant was. I can't wait to come back next month!

Came here for both dim sum and banquet-party food. This place is approved by my bf's Cantonese parents! While the dim sum was good, it's the banquet food that I was blown away by. We had like 10 dishes including fish maw soup, sweet and sour pork, stir fried gailan, stir fried choy sum, Peking duck wraps, salted egg yolk battered shrimp, char siu and squid platter, fried rice, fish filet with sautéed veggies, and lobster with e-mein. The stars were definitely the salted egg yolk shrimp and the lobster e-mein. The food came out so fast and generously portioned. Everything was well-flavored and not too oily. The tea was delicious!! I love these traditional large banquet Chinese restaurants and am impressed that they mail both the brunch and dinner menu.

Really good with dishes comparable to those in Hong Kong (I lived there for 3 years). The fish and bean curd casserole was great!

Solid dim sum in the DC area, but, what really impressed me was the fantastic and friendly service. After doing much research, Hong Kong Pearl Seafood Restaurant kept on coming up on "Best of..." dim sum lists in the area and, as you can see, they have LOTS of Yelp reviews so they MUST be doing something right. We arrived at about 11:30am on a Saturday afternoon and easily parked in their huge parking lot, which is part of an Asian-oriented strip mall with a ShareTea nearby. As you can imagine, when a dim sum restaurant is popular, there are typically PLLLLLENTY of customers waiting and the surrounding parking area will be full....as was the case here. However, shockingly, the wait was only 15 minutes for our party of 3 and the turnover was quite quick! Of course, it didn't hurt that the interior of the restaurant was very spacious. We immediately sat down once we went inside and, since we had a toddler with us, we needed a high chair and the hostess was very accommodating with our request. In fact, she asked if a high chair worked better or a booster worked better. Honestly, she couldn't have been any friendlier. More to come later. There's nothing like the authenticity of having dim sum at a restaurant where the elderly ladies are walking around with carts full of delicious dim sum and Hong Kong Pearl Seafood Restaurant doesn't stray from that authentic experience. The restaurant serves pretty much all of your everyday dim sum goodness - roast pork/shrimp/beef rice rolls, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, beef meatballs, chicken feet, sticky rice, roast pork buns, pork ribs with black beans, shrimp and chive dumplings, mini egg tarts, etc., etc., etc. Of course, don't forget about the special order items that you need a waiter/waitress for, such as the variety of pan fried noodles. We just happened to eyeball a few tables that did order them and they looked really, really delicious. During our time here, we stuck with just straight up dim sum and it was all so goooooooood. Not the best we ever had, but solid still. The only thing missing were the desserts, which we didn't see a whole lot of. Specifically, we didn't see my faves like coconut jello/pudding or the steamed sponge cake that is oh so good when nice and hot. Womp womp, oh wells. The same carts pretty much rolled around the entire time we were there, so chances are they didn't have them or maybe just not that day? It was a definitely a bit of a downer. And, oh, about that fantastic service? Even though the hostess was super busy seating folks, she took the time to walk by and offer to take our photo when we were struggling to take a selfie. She didn't have to, but she did even when she was running around like a chicken without a head. She was really as nice as can be to us and our kid. As for the other employees, they were also super friendly to our toddler and us. I know, it's hard to believe, because stereotypically, employees at busy establishments like this don't have time to be friendly, but that wasn't the case here. Overall, decent variety of dim sum and solid too. The restaurant was very spacious so turnover was high and seating was quick. Service was an A+ so brownie points for that. Definitely a convenient spot to drop by for dim sum, even on a busy day.

Finding good dim sum is always like finding a rare gem. Hong Kong Pearl Seafood is that gem that's in 7 corners and I always find the food to be solid. Now there are obviously a couple tips to keep in mind The cart ladies may be a bit curt, as usual. Definitely push back to say "no" if you don't want anything. Be patient. Most things will make its way around so if you can stay patient and consider it a multi-course meal, you'll be able to taste fresh food as opposed to on-the-spot yet cold lukewarm food. Xiao Long Baos may or may not be worth your bet. It's not bad but just not as great as some of the places out in Rockville.

Came here on a Sunday. Terrible service and food! Cold tea and cold food. Will never go back.

I went to this place several times on the weekends. It used to be good. However the foods getting salty every time now, I guess the main chef is salty eater. Otherwise I like their deserts especially the green durian rolls.

Amazing Chicken And Great Rice Hard Working Workers And Seats Are Comfortable And Overall It's A 9.5/10
