I went here today on 8/23/2025 and I ordered the chicken fried rice. When I received the order, it was very plentiful and the rice had a really good flavor. However, the chicken was like chewing on a piece rubber and didn't even taste like chicken. Not sure if they cooked it on too high of a heat, or it just wasn't chicken. 🤔🤔🤔

This restaurant is one of the best in Eugene and very underrated. I go here consistently and the food is amazing every time. I would especially recommend the Pork with Bamboo Shoots.

Google
My husband and I had a pleasant and filling dinner here. We had the crispy noodles with vegetables, the sweet and sour chicken, and the orange chicken. Pictured in this order. The food was very tasty, and the portions generous. Very good value for money. Service was quick, considering it was a busy Sunday evening with a lot of take-out orders, and the staff were friendly. The restaurant looks unassuming both outside and in, but don't let it deceive you; the food is among the best Chinese I have ever had.

Google
If you’re looking for authentic Chinese definitely go elsewhere. Staff/owner completely diminished how I felt about the situation. Denied that I requested any sort of hot sauce and didn’t care to resolve the situation (see receipt). Impolite and would never shop there again. Bland Chinese food, typical Eugene. The chicken and broccoli had a decent amount of meat but the pork + 3x shrimp and beef chow mein barely had any meat, so much so that my kids were fighting over it. On to the next Chinese restaurant….

Google
You cannot find a better Chinese restaurant in Eugene! we ordered Chasiu Bun, fish sauced eggplant and twice cooked pork- all amazing!!

Joseph Kern

Google
I did the to go option. My food was ready when they said it would be. The price was what the on-line calculator said it would be. When I got home the food was plentiful & plenty warm enough, I was happy. Ier liked my dish of, Spicy Green Beans the most. I modified the dish with shrimp, they were cooked quite nicely. I don't know, I guess I am being a snob, thinking the red paint smattered over the curb, sidewalk, and picnic benches . I think the food is way better than the restaurant looks. Yeah, go, enjoy the food.

My wife and I discovered this fantastic place a few years ago and it’s our “Go to” place for takeout. We have always been greeted with a smile and a welcome and left with generous portions of great food. Highly recommend

Google
Do yourself a favor and try the food here. I had the General Tso’s Chicken which had a light crispy coating that and tender in the middle. The sauce had just the right amount of spicy to sweet and was a tasty treat. Next up was the Sesame Beef and let me tell you it was so good. Great flavor with a nice crisp bite to delight the taste buds. Just the right amount of sauce to show the beef who’s boss. You get a lot for your money, probably enough to feed feed four here but I’m so greedy and it was so good that I smashed these both in 2 separate sittings. Comes with a side of jasmine rice that is light and fluffy, you can tell everything here is cooked to order as everything was so fresh. I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
It's pretty good. It's not my favorite Chinese restaurant in Eugene, but it's solid. It's my sister's go-to Chinese place so I always eat here when I am home visiting. The fried rice is good, and I like the sweet and sour chicken too. Usually we pick up broccoli beef for my nephew and that's how I learned that broccoli beef is pretty good. There isn't much seating here and I've never eaten in; it's business is take-out. They have plenty of space in their share lot so that's never an issue. And when many places (especially in Eugene, Chinese, it seems like) are closed Mondays this one is open and close Tuesday instead. Not a bad choice for Chinese American food.

Pat P.

Yelp
Usually, my go to, one time after the storm a couple years back, the rice was not very tasty. Will go back later to try again.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. I figure if the international students eat there it has to be decent. And my family has always enjoyed it. The dining room area is lacking in comfort and charm, but we always do take out so not a big deal. The staff is mostly friendly. But their system for prepping orders is chaotic. If you order on a busy day (like a home Duck game, or Christmas Eve like we did this year) be prepared to wait, and wait, then wait some more. I called in my order on Christmas Eve at 12:30pm and asked for 5:30 pick-up. I was told they already had too many orders and was given a 6pm pick-up time. I arrived on the dot. After 15 minutes in line I finally get to the front only to realize they hadn't even started cooking our food. I was told a half hour which ended up being an hour and a half. And that was typical of all the people waiting; one guy had been waiting almost two hours. And this has happened to us several times before; it doesn't matter if we call it in, order online, or in person. The only time we have received our food in a timely matter is if we order/pick-up mid-afternoon (except big holidays).

Yelp
I gave it a shot hoping for old fashion Chinese food but as really let down pretty soggy and flavorless.

Yelp
My go to Chinese restaurant in Eugene! Today I dined in for the first time, and ordered the Meatless Mapo Tofu dish! It comes with rice, and I got jasmine tea. My meal and tea were $17.50, and I have enough leftovers for it to be 2 meals! Today I talked to the sweet owners of the restaurant, they've been there for almost 5 years and are very attentive and kind staff. The place is very family run, casual with lots of indoor seating and providing quick take out. My food came out very fast and was delicious, I appreciate the huge portions and tons of vegan and veggie options! There's tons of parking nearby and seating inside. Huge fan of this place!! I saw someone comment they don't have fortune cookies, which is true, but they have these individually wrapped melon flavored candies to have after the meal which I loved!
google avatar

Lauren V.

Yelp
Love this place. Can never go wrong with the Kung Pao chicken and the Singapore noodles. Friendly service too.

Yelp
This is our go to place for Chinese food in Eugene. We've tried a few different things there (Egg Flower Soup, West Lake Beef Soup, Eggplant w/ Hot Garlic Sauce, and a few others). This time we got the Fish w/ Onions and Bell Pepper and the Wonton Soup (totally meant to take a picture of the soup, but it looked so good that my wife and I were halfway through the dish before I remembered LOL). I think the thing I appreciate the most is that the flavors are spot on, even though they incorporate unusual (to Chinese cuisine) vegetables. I've never had cauliflower in wonton soup before, but it was really good! I keep seeing other Chinese restaurants in town that seem interesting, but the consistently good service and flavors always draws me back. It's a little on the pricy side, but well worth it.

Yelp
I've been here about 5 times, 3 when I was a student at LCC. Twice now as a retired old guy. This place is nothing to look at. It seats about 15 at most. The menu has an almost extensive food list. BUT! You order and wait. The food is cooked as close to perfectly as can be found. The use of oil(s) and spice(s) are exquisite. The noodles have the right bounce. The BBQ pork is greasy enough to carry all the flavor, but not at all dry. Beloved bride and I live too far to the north to take it home (although I've done that) - it cools down in the drive. So, we ate there. We ordered the House Special Chow Mien. We also ordered Szechuan Pork. We took home half of each because the portions were generous. The wok hay of the Chow Mien was excellent. You could smell the aroma on the air before the dish reached the table. I can't express how much I'd like to see your faces after you've tried your first bites. It's somewhat unfair to compare the Szechuan Pork (which was really good) against an exceptional dish. The pork was very well prepared, had great spicing, but perhaps a little too little bite for me. In all cases, run, walk, skateboard, scooter, drive, bus, pogo stick or take a pedicab to Hong Kong and tell them Perfesser Howard sent you.

Yelp
Let's keep it simple, I LOVE Hong Kong Restaurant. First off, the people who run it now are amazing (I'd guess wife and husband, but I truly don't know) - there aren't many places anywhere where you'll find better service IMO. Their menu is large, and some of the dim sum I've ordered seemed like it was the same as I buy frozen elsewhere - hence a knock down on my rating. With that said, ORDER THE DANDAN MIEN AND SUAN LA TANG (hot and sour soup). Best I've ever had anywhere.

Googley E.

Yelp
Oily, tasteless chow mein. Dried-out fried rice. Nobody in the place when I went to pick up our takeout order, so that was a red flag. Will definitely not be going back.
google avatar

T Raven M.

Yelp
Best chow fun in Eugene! And love the pork steamed dumplings. The garlic and ginger in the dumplings are delicious

Brianna C.

Yelp
Great chow mien and sweet and sour soup! Got take out and was ready in under 20 minutes!

Yelp
We ordered for delivery on Valentines Day several of their dishes, amounting to over $70 with the tip. One of the items was their "green onion pancake," which in Korean restaurants is very good. But the ones we got from Hong Kong were inedible -- dry, tasteless and with a cardboard texture, but even thinner than cardboard. I could barely chew it. So I decided to take them back, thinking they would either refund my money or at least give me a credit for a future purchase (my husband likes Won Ton). Instead the woman at their counter fiercely argued with me about it, wouldn't listen or try to make good. She even claimed that they don't get the money from these delivered orders (who does then?). I felt badly about the guy who delivered it, because I had put (as requested by H.K.'s site) a $17 tip for him. He probably never got it, the restaurant pocketed that tip and claimed that they had no idea who delivered it. So not only was this food BAD, but it also seemed like they are running a dishonest racket. She was so adamant about the great quality of this horrible food, and couldn't be reasoned with. We used to be faithful patrons of this place when the previous owners had it. And we've given these new owners a fair chance, even though I thought that the quality had gone down under their management. But now, with this unfortunate incident, I would never go back there. Do NOT recommend!
google avatar

Aubree M.

Yelp
Ordered take out: pan fried pot stickers, general tso's, and chow mein. The pot stickers were soggy and oily. The general tso's was so heavily battered and doused in sickly sauce that it was so soggy. The sauce was too thick and sweet but lacked flavor. The chicken was dry. The noodles, similarly, had no flavor but were extremely salty and oily. Very heavy, oily, textural unpleasant, flavorless food. Will not be returning to Hong Kong. Also, no fortune cookies.

Marc S.

Yelp
Good food and prices. Large menu. Friendly service. Somewhat quiet atmosphere. Insufficient climate control; it's January and my food got cold before I could finish it. Parking is sufficient; however, getting to and from was a challenge.
google avatar

Shari P.

Yelp
My husband and I have found that the least assuming places have the best food. Once again, we were proved right with the Hong Kong. This place is very clean and not very fancy but boy is the food good and the service is top notch. We can't wait to go back to try other dishes. They have some unusual things as well as the regular fare. Sweet and sour pork was excellent. Pot stickers. Bbq pork. Yum.

Walter L.

Yelp
I've never written a bad review but the service here was terrible. The lady was so rude to us and our children and muttered something in Chinese after we told her we weren't going to eat there anymore. I'd recommend so many better places around town. First place we give a one star to...
google avatar

Thaston R.

Yelp
i ordered the orange chicken. it was good, maybe got left in the fryer for too long? i dunno it was kinda tough and the sauce was not impressive. small side of rice. i might try something else but was not pleased with my order.
google avatar

Matthew F.

Yelp
This is a good restaurant. It's very simple, basic straightforward typical American Chinese food and if that's what you're looking for you're gonna hit it every time with this restaurant they care about what they make and they deliver.
google avatar

Rachel O.

Yelp
Make sure to get the almond cookies and the dumplings in oil. Great family, amazing noodles. Awkward to get in the parking lot but so worth it.
google avatar

Lorie Ann L.

Yelp
We love it! They have all the old stand by dishes. My partner loves the sweet & sour pork and I love the cashew chicken. It's my go to when I want a dish that reminds me of Chinese food I had when I was a kid.

M. G.

Yelp
So we only went there because of someone's previous yelp, which said you should go there by pogo stick or bicycle or however you can get there. We thought that was pretty interesting and went there. We paid $27 for two tiny little plates of food, which tasted OK but for the money no freaking way will we go back. It's definitely a dive and the staff is friendly but the portions are ridiculously small. The selection is also not that great. I wouldn't suggest spending $27 or more for two people to eat lunch at this restaurant.
google avatar

Hana W.

Yelp
This is my favorite takeout spot for Chinese food. I think they have the best mushu with tasty mushu wrappers. The fried chicken stir fry dishes are also great. The wait isn't typically long, they are friendly and the food consistently good.
google avatar

Alicia S.

Yelp
Still love Hong kong! Added to my favorites is the Mushu! I asked for BBQ pork, and they did it for me! Their pancakes are great too! They don't fall apart! A+!

Thomas O.

Yelp
Good food and big portions make this a go to. All at a decent price. Great for a take out close to my house.

Mitch G.

Yelp
A restaurant where spicy means SPICY. Love the spice of the Chong Ching Chicken - tingly flower peppers + red Sichuan peppers...Yum. The beef noodle dish is also great with wide, perfectly cooked, noodles and rich flavors.
google avatar

Amada J.

Yelp
I love Hong Kong Restaurant! The food tastes delicious and the service is great! The soup is expensive but so good, I'm hooked! Best Chinese restaurant I've tried in Eugene
google avatar

Vee S.

Yelp
Good food good service always a good Chinese food quick and fast. Taste tasty as well. Have ordered many things on this menu that mostly vegetarian. And shrimp or fish platters. We like the appetizers and the soup. Don't forget the fortune cookies yummy!
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Super yummy & authentic Chinese food! The owners were very sweet and kind. We ordered the Szechuan dumplings and shrimp fried rice - both were delicious, especially the dumplings. Big portions for what you pay - great value!! 10/10 would return!
google avatar

Tricia B.

Yelp
The old Hong Kong was our stand-by for mediocre Chinese. I was thrown when I called in our "to go order" and was told that they were new owners and the menu had changed. We decided to try it anyways, and boy are we glad we did!! This will become a monthly regularly stop. The sweet and sour pork ribs are as good as you would get in a big city, this will become a regularly ordered dish in the future. The noodles and the dumplings were outstanding! We ordered the meat dumplings, wonton soup, and "spicy granny" noodles. I've been hoping that Eugene would get a place like this. Excited to go back and try all the items on the menu! We ordered to-go. The restaurant sitting area is small and lacks ambiance (has it always has).
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Even through another change of ownership, Hong Kong is still a very solid restaurant. Their wontons in hot chili oil are still very good. The one thing that isn't as good as under the previous chef is the soup dumplings (xiaolongbao). Unfortunately, the last chef used to make them by hand so he set the bar impossibly high. I believe the new ones are frozen or they just don't taste as good. The scallion pancake is also kind of meh. However, the restaurant overall is still good! Their noodle dishes are all pretty solid. I like their Dan Dan noodles as an appetizer. This is a great place for a quick lunch. Oh, and they also got new flooring so no more sticking to the carpet. Lastly, I'm not sure if this is still the case but check their hours. I tried to go there for lunch on a Tuesday and the hours posted on the front door said they were closed on Tuesdays, though that wasn't posted anywhere else. Their website and Facebook pages both said they are open so that may have been a one-off. One last tip is if you go to their website it now looks like you can place online orders!
google avatar

Lara R.

Yelp
Hong Kong has been a favorite since I was in college! This is my "go to" for fantastic Asian food at a reasonable price. We LOVE Hong Kong!
google avatar

Shirley B.

Yelp
I ordered spicy wontons and chow fun. Given that I am Chinese, I will be super critical of Chinese food anywhere. I am SHOCKED because Hong Kong Restaurant was actually so good! Everything tasted authentic! I have no complaints about taste. Also their employees speak Chinese so I was able to order food in Chinese since I didn't know the names in English. TRUST THIS RESTAURANT. It's good, especially in Eugene!
google avatar

Cece L.

Yelp
The best Chinese food in the Eugene area. It sucks that they don't do delivery, but you can always order online and swing by to pick it up. The food is always on point and the perfect amount of savory. They have a huge menu, so there's bound to be something for everyone. My favorite is the walnut shrimp, the shrimps are always big and plump. The Szechuan beef and kung Pao are really good as well. I would also recommend asking for less oil.

Ryan I.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Generous portions (the prices seemed high until I saw how much food we got). Of the 3 dishes I tried: 1. Dried Cooked Green Bean (or similar name): I liked this a lot! 5 stars. Will get again next time. 2. Eggplant with Hot Garlic Sauce: good but a little more oil and more sweet than I would want. 3. Honey Walnut Tofu: I know it says honey... but somehow I wasn't expecting it to be this sweet. Too sweet for me. I'll go again, and try one or more of: General Tso's Tofu, Szechuan Tofu, Kung Pao Tofu, Twice Cooked Tofu, Salted & Pepper Tofu, meatless Mapo Tofu
google avatar

Clara E.

Yelp
Order the hand shave noodles. I've only dined in here once, but gotten take out too many times to count. The food is ridiculously good. I no longer live in the area, but when I come down to Eugene to visit or simply pass through, I try to pick up some hand shave noodles for my partner - they request it each time I travel down it's that good! Savory, not spicy, but the texture and taste of the noodles themselves (with all the fixings too) are sooo good. Never encountered hand shave noodles anywhere else

Saurabh G.

Yelp
Could only find 4-5 small shreds of chicken in the whole dish. The side vegetables were more like the core, pretty bad experience. Have had similarly bad experiences earlier, not gonna order aga
google avatar

Theron H.

Yelp
*This review comes after their re-opening but also factors in previous experience. Some dishes seem to no longer be available anymore which is unfortunate. Simply one of Eugene's best places to get authentic Chinese dishes that knock out any an all Americanized places. A rectangular red sign with yellow lettering shows "Hong Kong Restaurant" to drivers on 18th. A similarly red roof displays the same sign, but with white walls and wood benches on the outside. Inside is a no-fuss affair of white walls, tan tables, and red chairs. The cashier doubles as the to-go window and the kitchen stands behind. From noodles to dim sum, they have a little bit of everything. Their wontons in chili oil are perfectly cooked, savory, and covered in plenty of delicious oil that's slightly spicy, slightly nutty, and just a tad smoky. Everything here is simply complex in taste. Even the supposedly basic egg flower soup turns out to be a delightfully filling soup of egg, tofu, and corn in chicken broth. (08/16/18): I feel I should add that my favorite dish has to be their Dan Dan noodles though it tastes a tad different than before. Dan Dan noodles are basically, well, noodles topped with minced pork and green onion, and sits in a bath of spicy and sweet sauce. What you have to do is mix everything or else you have plain noodles with tasty pork. It's got a complex bunch of flavors that are simply engrossing to feast upon. It's an orchestra of sweet. Peanut-y. Smoky. Savory. Numbing. Spicy. Citrusy. Refreshing. The dish goes through a weird-yet-enjoyable swing of flavors that was heightened by the Sichuan peppercorn (a strange peppercorn that's more lemony and leaves your tongue tingly before giving off a slight spice). Simply fantastic. The service is always friendly and attentive even when juggling a high-amount of orders that get picked up moments later. This place should continue to stand proud as one of Eugene's best Chinese Restaurants and should be on your next list of places to go.

Yelp
Great food with huge portions. I ordered the Garlic Chicken and Kon Pow Chicken . Both very tasty. I just started to get take out there and will be back.
google avatar

Florence B.

Yelp
Delicious food with large servings ... many noodle/vegetarian options. Never disappointed and great wait staff. Indoor seating is now available, but great take out too!

Oregon G.

Yelp
We order takeout once or twice a month. Always excellent, ready when I arrive, and still hot when I get it home. Three dishes feed the two of us for several meals with some fried rice left over for egg rice a couple of mornings. Very pleasant family run business and great food. There is ample sit down inside and looks very comfortable, but I always takeout. Great. You try it too.
google avatar

Jade M.

Yelp
Got take out from here and it was BOMB! Lunch specials are such a good deal! You get a large portion of high quality, delicious food for less than $10. They only have take out during COVID but the counter workers were so nice and helpful. This might be my new favorite lunch spot!
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
The service at this place is amazing. Seriously the nicest people I have ever dealt with. The food was INSANELY good, Mongolian beef was delicious. Just the right amount of spice! Egg flower soup was just what I needed in this rainy weather. Just wanted to say they were exceptionally nice to my daughter and I, despite having to accommodate my husband's semi-insane requests. They honestly went above and beyond. I couldn't recommend this place more! Also, they are still open for takeout right now and they are wearing masks and are obviously taking care to follow social distancing recommendations.
google avatar

Donna S.

Yelp
Don't let the lack of outside decor fool you. This place is legit. I stopped eating Chinese food for a loooooong time because it made me feel horrible. The food here is never greasy and the vegetables are vibrant and fresh (the portions are also extremely generous). I stopped trying the other Chinese places in Eugene when I found this place. I haven't tried them all but this is hands-down my favorite and kindof a problem now because I am always craving Chinese (Hong Kongese?). The Braised Tofu w/ Seafood is excellent, as is the Szechuan Shrimp and the Hot & Sour Garlic Wonton soup. The people who work here are always super nice as well, which I greatly appreciate. I might have to move farther away....

Maia L.

Yelp
I've been coming to Hong Kong Restaurant for years and it is my favorite chinese place in Eugene. I recommend it to everyone I know. Everything I've tried there has been delicious, and they have generous portion sizes. My favorites are the BBQ pork hand shaven noodles, dry fried green beans, mapo tofu, and the chongqing spicy chicken. Don't be afraid to try something new because everything is good!

Malia D A.

Yelp
Nice little place to eat at or take out. Not far from our Airbnb and would go back if we visit Eugene again!

Yelp
Amazing food, great location, plenty of parking spots... Three of us went in on a Sunday around 2:30pm. There were few tables that were finishing up and we were greeted by our server. He spoke Chinese to us and then quickly realized we don't speak Chinese. Then he talked to us in English, and sat us down. Super friendly staff. New owners of this restaurant has been putting lots of effort into quality food and 100% handmade buns are advertised on the menu. the only down thing was their "menu" was just a piece of paper that were covered in sauce drops. Everything was legible and nicely written so we didn't mind. We ordered Pork Shao Long Bao, Pork and veggie dumplings, braised pork ribs, and Dindin noodles. Oh. My. Freaking. Goodness. Every bite of their dish was amazing and I was just SO SHOCKED how awesome this place is and I am SOO happy that Eugene finally has an authentic Chinese restaurant. Hope this place makes a lot of profit and remodel the interior in the future
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
My wife and I went here for lunch after reading reviews and seeing that an item that I always wanted to try were being offered here after new ownership and menu. From the outside this place smelled heavenly, but when we went inside there was a faint smell that I would rather not have when eating. Also the carpet needs to replaced because it was sticking to our shoes as we went to counter. I ordered the wontons in chili oil, because I have always wanted to try this. It was okay, since I had nothing to compare it too. Wasn't spicy and not much pork filling inside. We also got a order of spring rolls that were actually quite good. We also had to share a fork and plate, because the other plate and fork were dirty even after washing. We don't, however, like to complain so we didn't say anything. The staff was friendly and quick with the food. Overall, experience was okay. Might have to think about a possible return.

Yelp
Moving away from Oakland Chinatown left me craving the hard-to-find sensation of Szechuan peppercorn. I'm so happy that I discovered the Chongqing Spicy Chicken.
