"On Saturday, Rainier Beach’s Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant — which served up popular dim sum and other Chinese food dishes in the South Seattle neighborhood for 28 years — closed permanently. According to a message left on the restaurant’s official Facebook page, the restaurant’s owners are currently seeking another location. Though off the beaten path for many Seattle diners, Hong Kong Seafood had been praised by customers in the past for its extensive dim sum offerings, including honey walnut prawns and scallop dumplings, along with a family-friendly atmosphere. It was also a gathering place for the community, with wedding receptions, banquets, and nonprofit events hosted in the spacious dining room. According to a post on Vanishing Seattle, the current Hong Kong Seafood owner blamed the rising costs of running a small business in the city for the closing. The space will soon be turned into a mixed-use apartment building by a developer, which seems to be an all too common refrain days, especially for neighborhoods south of Seattle proper." - Gabe Guarente

I love coming for their dim sum. It's always fresh and you get a good selection. But I was disappointed in a meal to go, it was rushed or something? Veggies almost raw, rice hard. Sauce was super generic and too sweet. And this was after a different meal experience that was also less than stellar. But the dim sum, they have a menu too, is fantastic. And they are always unfailing friendly and nice.

We ordered 3 dishes to go, - braised tofu, fried chicken (1/2), and fried fish fillet with black bean sauce. Food quality (2) - tofu dish had no flavor, chicken was not crispy, fish dish was just ok. Service (5) very friendly staffs Place (3) clean and spacious, free parking. Not the best location though. If we go back again, will only go for lunch Price $ ... reasonable price

Food was good. The waiter cannot speak English. It's hard to communicate.

Great traditional Chinese Restaurant. Went here with a friend for lunch and had "Dim Sum" - loved it. The staff is friendly and fast to respond to requests. Food is fresh, hot and delicious ! Atmosphere is nice, comfortable seating with plenty of room, tv's in the corner to watch the game. Price - pretty reasonable ! My friend and I ate more than we should have and our bill was only about 25$ combined !

I usually go to another place not too far away, but because they were so busy, we tried this one. And now I think I'm going to go here from now on. They have more or less the same Dim Sum foods you'll find at most places, but the service was better and the food came around more. They also filled up our waters more frequently. We'll definitely be coming here more often.

Very nice, cozy restaurant with delicious food we had little kids with us , and the personnel was very attentive. Only owner speaks decent english though, but he was available to translate. Stuffed eggplants were yummy! The also serve dim sum in the evening, which is nice.

I really wanted to like this place. I've eaten in and done takeout orders a few times. They seem to have giant extravagant parties and weddings frequently. My biggest complaint is the variable quality of food. I ordered chicken chow mein last time and didn't even recognize what I received. Takeout meals are too expensive which is my main use-case for them. The last time I dined in, I found a hair in my food which they responded to with a free dessert. I think I'll pass eating there in the future.
