If you need to make indonesian food, this is one of the place to look for some of the ingredients! I shoped here to buy food for Ramadhan. They sell a lot of variety of fresh veggies for asian cuisine. And a big place to find other spices (though you cant find Indonesian packed spices). They also sell “ayam kampung” which is non broiler chicken. And they are not easy to find. Their price is also very friendly! Though its a bit tough asking around the staff for things since most of them dont speak in English.

Not the cleanest place, but definitely among the best places to get whatever you need for Asian cooking at a really good price. Fresh fish and seafood market, vegetables, meats, frozen meals, all kinds of spices, snacks, boxed items and even cutlery and cooking utensils. Much cheaper than h Mart. If you don't mind a less clean supermarket, definitely recommend. They also have a good selection of different brands for most products and some typical staples like pasta, cereal cookies etc.

I can't believe what happened to me today.i was trying to pay for my drink using a credit card she wouldn't let me and she dismissed me she said something about how stupid I was for using a credit card for a drink . I was buying this for a friend and never had issue in the past with this . I am an American citizen that speaks Chinese but her dialect I couldn't understand at all but I know a few Mandarin phrases and I was able to figure out what she said. Luckily she said $2 that was the only English she said if she had told me Id maybe I wouldn't be so pissed and outraged. She didn't tell me that I needed to show my id a family member always uses their credit card and hasn't ever had a problem till me.I never had an issue buying something from here and I've been a long time customer since I was a teen but no more . TO MY NON CHINESE PEOPLE DONT COME HERE

This place has so much stuff! Like a gazillion types of mushrooms, fruits and vegetables that I have never seen. Also fish section looked pretty decent. Overall great place to visit to get old favorites or something new. They also sell seeds to if you want to have your own Chinese vegetable garden🪴

Good selection. Fun to shop around. Produce is fresh and relatively cheap. Prices on the whole have gone up.

Experience was almost perfect except for when I was checking out with the checkout lady , here Asian supervisor was rushing me to get out the store . Idk why because other new people were coming in so its not like it was closing . Hope it wasn't a racist act because I'm Hispanic and the store in Asian.

This is the first time I visited this supermarket and I already have bad experience. --- Fruit&Vegetable : I visited on Sunday morning. They let the bad quality vegetable on the shell. The edamame has moisture. The lemongrass's color turn on yellow, we can not use this anymore and several vegetable that they doesn't take care of. --- Seafood : variety of choice and you can even buy the an alive fish and they will prepare for you. However, this area is always wet, plus the vegetable felt on the floor... it is not clean. --- Dry goods & household : variety of choice and clean area

Dear reverse racist security guard - you can't ogle me in a market, unless the manager doesn't care... I went here for the very first time today. I have many nice things to say about my experience here except for the people who work here. The security guard leered at me when I went in. I am young looking browned skin woman who covers her head. I did not see him flip his head around and follow anyone like that like he never saw a WOMAN before. When I checked out, the cashier Chinese speaking woman who who spoke and laughed with the other customers who looked like her not only refused eye contact, not a problem, or a return hello etc. but threw the receipt after me. That was cool too. My issue was the sleazy protected class security guard STARED AND LEERED AT ME as I walked out. IGNORING everything and everyone. This is harassment and racism. how ironic coming from him.... to make a non yt person feel being ogled at where they are THE only dark person.....how ironic. I only had the bag I purchased my tea in. Thanks for making me feel so comfortable I won't be returning.

Yelp
This sizable Hester St. Hong Kong Supermarket is a great place to shop in Chinatown, especially for some deals! The fresh and live seafood section is particularly impressive. If you're looking for fresh fruits and vegetables, especially exotic ones, you'll likely find them here all in one place. They also offer a wide range of cookies and candies, teas, condiments, packaged dried ingredients, and other shelf-stable items. Be sure to also explore the lower level, especially if you don't see something at the street level!

Yelp
Affordable produce in a clean store! I came here for water and came out with a gallon of Poland Soring Water for $2.49. Also two quarts of strawberries for $1!!! My favorite grocery store ever!!! I spoke English and all the store employees understood me. No credit card if under $10, so I am glad I brought cash to Flushings because cash is king here!

June-Young C.

Yelp
Pretty average Chinese grocery store in the center of Chinatown that is surprisingly big since it's two stories with the basement inside. Reminds me of Super 88 in Boston. They don't really have super big deals, and are not that much cheaper than 99 Ranch. There's a wide selection of Asian snacks and they even have frozen dim sum items like shrimp har gao which is slightly below market price.

Chrissy R.

Yelp
This place brings back so many memories of the Asian supermarkets back in CA. Full of Asian produce (bok choy, Japanese squash, white radish, etc) and aisles upon aisles of spices, oils, noodles/rice, snacks and frozen goods. Even the crowd reminds me of home - barely anyone speaks English and everyone ignores me :) I have to remember to bring bigger shopping bags. It's great to stock up on everything you need for Asian recipes that you can't find at Whole Foods / Morton Williams for a fraction of the price.

Christine N.

Yelp
First impressions: Typical for any Asian market in Chinatown... reminds me of when I used to go grocery shopping with my mom in Little Saigon (Cali) when I was little. Was greeted with a little bit of nostalgia as well as the usual sights and sounds of an Asian market. It's pretty clean and brightly lit...The veggies were being packed out of the boxes and they looked fresh and ready to go. Love coming here for my bokchoys, chinese broccoli, fresh watercress, Thai basil, bean sprouts, chilis, etc etc Anything you want, you will find here The Noms: Food is always fresh and convenient whether you are getting a cut of pork belly at the butcher's section, or "exotic" (read, can't find at the local Whole Foods) fruits and vegetables. I also love their snack section... though lately it doesn't have the selection I'm used to seeing from years ago... could be pandemic related supply chain issues. I also love their frozen foods/refridgerated section for quick eats (dumplings, tofu, etc etc) In Conclusion: One of my favorite spots to do all my shopping. Usually has everything I need. The only pain in the butt I forgot to mention is their ramen/instant noodle section sucks. I like the Mi Goreng noodles and the Mi Mama (tom yum flavor) noodles and they are almost always out of stock (even pre-pandemic) so for those items I am always having to go somewhere else to find.

Yelp
I remembered the Hong Kong supermarket happened to be at the corner of East Broadway and Allen St. That one had likely sold to a different owner. When I entered, it was busy. The layout was weirder that the other Chinese supermarkets I have been to. After going around, I realized that the drinks are next to the freezer aisle. After seeing the types of drinks, I chose a Kang Shifu brand.

Morlene C.

Yelp
This place is a mecca when it comes to shopping for [east] Asian groceries, with a massive amount of space-- 2 floors in fact, so you're bound to find what you're looking for and more here. There are aisles dedicated to fruits and veggies galore, all fresher and cheaper than what you'd get at most other grocery stores in the city. Fish and meat can be chopped and cleaned for you too. I mostly find myself deep in their sauce aisles, restocking my own cabinets with chili oils, spices, soy sauce, oils, stir fry marinades, and more. They have multiple brands of each, so one is absolutely spoiled for choice here. Head downstairs and it feels significantly more tranquil since you're not dealing with the lines of people waiting to check out upstairs. Down there you can take your time browsing their candy and chip aisles, which are my fave, as well as their aisle dedicated to just different kinds of instant noodles. You can even buy kitchen appliances, metal utensils and ceramic bowls. I think they have a great selection of all of these items. Usually right before I head back up to check out I dart back upstairs to the back where I find myself in the frozen aisles and will fill my basket with frozen dim sum, dumplings, and fish balls. My freezer is always full of dumplings. The checkout lines move quickly and they do accept credit cards, which is refreshing and easy for someone like me who never carries cash. Don't count on asking anyone for help finding anything in the store-- I tried speaking in multiple Chinese dialects too and have been rebuffed pretty much every time. It's no biggie though, because that leaves me to wander the aisles on my own, only to discover lots of new treats for my wfh snack cabinet.

Mik K.

Yelp
This is the nastiest thing I have ever seen, that employee stayed there digging his teeth for more than 20 mins I left the store and he was still doing it while I was leaving the digging his teeth over the uncovered fish which is a health problem.

Seeking Q.

Yelp
Bought this pomelo grapefruit on sale -- the rind was 3", flesh hard as rock. Couldn't even cut through it. Manager told me take another. I said they're likely all the same bad batch. He offered me store credit. I insisted on cash refund. He made me wait. Why do they sell bad fruit? Elderly and families take it all the way home only to find out they got bad fruit. Unethical!

Regina O.

Yelp
Went here while visiting new york for my cousin's dorm move-in day. I always shop at the Hong Kong Market here in washington state so I knew going in that i'll be able to buy the things i'm lookign for when it comes to asian groceries/items. I took 1 star out cause it's hard to communicate with the staff cause the ones I asked dont speak any English (one was stocking the shelves and the other 2 were cashiers). Overall, good place for asian groceries!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Very rude. Went specifically for something and couldn't find it, I couldn't make eye contact with anyone to ask for help. The employees seem to dodge me. I gave up on it and decided to wonder around the store to check out what else they do have. After a few minutes of wondering, I was yelled out from across the store to "buy something now or leave". Happily left and won't return.

Wei H.

Yelp
Huge supermarket for Asian goods. Fresh seafood and meat to choose. All kinds of snacks/chips you don't see in other places. And they have a cat.

Hank C.

Yelp
They've updated their store to reflect covid19 - a huge pile of masks, cleaning supplies, etc. close to the main first register. An area where you put your own grocery bag (not to drag in the store), and new plastic shields for the workers everywhere. Everyone in a mask (good) but all people are close (bad). Not much in the way of chopsticks outside of the cheap plastic kind (strange). Good source for sauces. Meat and fresh veggies I'd still go other places, though.

Lucy M.

Yelp
PRICE GOUGING ALERT This supermarket is seriously price gouging and inflating its prices during a crisis. It is one of the few Chinese supermarkets still open in Chinatown and they have marked up all the fresh fruits and vegetables. Additionally they are selling Clorox wipes which are normally about $5 for $25. Don't shop here if you can go elsewhere.

Shianti B.

Yelp
I like it here for the prices on produce and obviously the items you cannot find or get anywhere else. I love the produced that is already wrapped in plastic and the fact that I can get reasonably price frozen pork buns. They have a nice ramen section downstairs. Their seafood section is very eclectic and they have open tank fish/seafood. So it fresh. They take virtual payment, card, cash, ebt. Bring your own bag. So what i didn't like was that there were many flies buzzing around. Especially on the fish that was out and produce. please fix that. Not even the vegetables and fruit stalls outside have that problem. The crowds are intense and it can be very crowded. Social distancing is not a thing here. Because there are so many people, there is also at times a lack of shopping baskets and carts. Smh. Still a great place to shop if you know what you are looking for.

Pa T.

Yelp
Been coming to this place for snacks! They have great varieties of traditional and modern items of all sorts! Every time I come here, could Always find something new and intriguing! I could spend hours and hours strolling the snack aisles downstairs and still can't get enough of it!!!

Vivian S.

Yelp
If you've ever been to an Asian Market, this is no different. A great produce section with decent quality Asian fruits and veggies, plus a discount produce section for super discounted veggies that have questionable quality but could be prepared the same day with no I'll effects. A great selection of sauces, even some canned or frozen vegan meats, tofu, kimchi (one brand of expensive vegan kimchi), and anything you would need for (east) Asian cuisine. Most of their produce has maintained similar pricing as last year (2021), so inflation pricing hasn't hit too hard as of yet (Late July 2022). Every time I'm in the area I have to stop by for cheap or hard-to-find groceries before heading home uptown.

Morris P.

Yelp
At the beginning of the pandemic, this grocery was fined $69,000 for price gouging on all those items that you will remember were all but impossible to find-hand sanitizer, latex gloves, Clorox etc. They are at it again, this time riding the tail wind of the constant media reports of inflation. Wholesale food prices are indeed rising all over, and unfortunately there are also more than enough businesses using the publicity to pad the profit book. Hong Kong Supermarket is one of them. Scallions for $3.00? Shanghai bok choy for $6.99 a pound? There is no shortage of other Chinese groceries within a block or two of Hong Kong, and while many prices at those markets are higher, many are not. And the price increases you see at those other markets are pretty much what you will see at lots of other Chinatown markets. Apparently Hong Kong Supermarket can't resist the temptation of a fast and easy ripoff. A good reason to take your business elsewhere on a permanent basis. Shame on them.

Jacky C.

Yelp
Ever shopped on Yamibuy? Did you know you could get cheaper products and not have to wait a week for them to be delivered to your door? This supermarket has all of the Asian goods and produce you can think of. It may be super hectic and look slightly run down, but it is super organized and you can essentially find everything you need. There's even a massive dedicated snack and ramen section in the cellar level. Just don't get too carried away if you live far away.

Joan S.

Yelp
I came here last weekend in search of some hot pot supplies. I was very pleased by the wide selection of fresh vegetables, sliced meats, fresh meat, etc. I could find everything that I was looking for! I came on a Saturday and it was very busy - if you want to avoid crowds, definitely avoid the weekends. I was able to find the sliced lamb and ribeye beef that I wanted for hot pot, which tasted great for the meal I had. I was also in search of hot pot soup base which they had plenty of. I went with the Little Sheep Hot Pot Plain Soup Base - there were among others but I tried this one before and really liked it. They also had a wide selection of frozen goods and I walked away with soup dumplings (very delicious, I steamed them in my bamboo steamer at home), fish balls (perfect for hot pot), and tofu. I also got a couple of hot pot strainer spoons. I tried three different leafy veggies - Yu Choy, Bok Choy, and Red Spinach - they were all very fresh and very delicious. While I had visited other grocery stores nearby which had lower prices, I stuck with this place since it was a one-stop for everything I needed. This place has an entire aisle of sauces and other staples. I definitely recommend this place as your go-to Chinese grocery store.

Charles D.

Yelp
It was a pretty good market for our out-of-town needs while we were staying in a nearby hotel.

Andreia T.

Yelp
I bought 3 fish at this place today. DO NOT BUY FISH HERE! Two fishes were ok one was bad. Probably the guy who clean them switched one fish. I would never pick a fish almost rotten. I'm disgusted. I can't even have dinner

Ollie N.

Yelp
I've been going here for years and I appreciate this supermarket in Chinatown but as others have noticed, they have selfishly posted disgustingly overpriced necessities for sale, quite literally sitting on boxes and boxes of disinfectants and face masks. I could write so much but frankly put this is infuriating and immoral. Called 311, and I encourage anyone who sees this to do the same. I truly wish these items would be confiscated and redistributed to hospitals. So fucking sick. Never forget how a person or business acts during these times of desperation. They will never get a single penny from me again.

Katey G.

Yelp
This isn't the newest, friendliest, or cleanest grocery store in Manhattan, but I can't help but love the grunge. The produce section might be one of the best in the city. They have everything from the typical to the exotic and for mostly reasonable prices. All the vegetables seem really fresh and many are packaged in house for sale. If I lived close by, this would definitely be my weekly go-to for anything fruit/veg related. The condiment section is outrageous. There are probably over 100 varieties of soy sauce alone. Anything you'd ever need for Chinese cooking is available, with variety, and cheaper than other places. Although they have a reasonable Japanese section, most of the options are Chinese. Great fresh noodle, dry noodle, ramen, and rice section. The seafood section and butcher are a little rough around the edges... I've purchased and have been happy before, so I recommend just deep diving and going for it. Their prices are very good on everything meat/fish related. If it's your first visit, plan to spend at least an hour wandering around and soaking in the scene. They also have a home goods section downstairs, so make sure browse around!

Ami Y.

Yelp
First of all, I should've come mentally prepared to swim through the crowd while trying to find what I was looking for. I thought the supermarket will be less crowded during the weekdays so I was here a bit past 11 am on a Thursday. However, it was still very busy, so I'm guessing there is no way to beat the crowd unless you get there first thing in the morning (well, you never know how early these customers get up either, though). Veggies look very fresh and it's always a bargain. It's a pretty big supermarket for being located in the city, but each aisle is packed with products and it's hard to get around unless you visit frequently and become familiar. Many cash registers were closed at the time so the grocery line moved pretty slowly. The supermarket is well stocked but the shopping experience was a little stressful, hence the three-stars.

Chunjai K.

Yelp
My friend who works around Chinatown NYC telling me about this place. I have doctor appointment around this area so I decide to shop here instead of going to Queens like I normally go to. Inside supermarket is big and has a lot of stuff. I'm looking for clams and lobster today. I wish I can buy more stuff but I don't have my car today so I can not buy too much. Price is good and they have a lot of vegetables like supermarket in Queens.

Marie S.

Yelp
Best selection of hot sauce in the city ! I love hot sauce. I am addicted to it. I even have a hot sauce collection. And Hong Kong Supermarket on Hester street has virtually every kind of hot sauce you can imagine! It's truly in incredible find. The prices are good too. Not into hot sauce? No problem ! There are infinite choices available here, your brain won't be able to process it fast enough, so better come prepared with a list. Otherwise you might find yourself leaving with more bags than you can carry. Think you can't resist the temptation of massive rows of delicious dry, fresh and frozen foods ? Well then suggest you bring your rolling shopper tote to wheel it home. Or better yet bring a friend. This place is truly over the top. If you love cooking, or love eating, or simply love finding delicious & exciting new things, go here. If you're kinda not into an adventure, then don't. But if you do go, don't miss the hot sauce section. They sell king size containers and mini pack in your lunch sizes too. One more thing - I purchased the frozen Har Gow. The package is gigantic, but the price was amazing! I actually did a side by side comparison with fresh Har Gow from a nearby restaurant. Admittedly, the restaurant dumplings were superior, but given the big price difference, I'll be buying the frozen ones next time. Plus it's so convenient, having frozen dim sum at home. Add a little hot sauce & pop them in the microwave. Delicious ! If you're traveling a great distance, remember to bring one of those collapsible mini coolers for the frozen items.

Ming M.

Yelp
This is a great supermarket with two levels, and the prices are excellent, better than on the other side of Canal Street, and they take credit cards. I used to leave Chinatown with no cash, but now I do my shopping here: Also, there are many cash registers if you pay by credit card or cash. I made the mistake of standing in line at the first register when there were so many cashiers available elsewhere.

Charlie A.

Yelp
They're sooooo rude. The staff at the fish stands will literally ignore you, glare at you if you ask them a question. The cashiers are also super rude. This place is scary.

Robert H.

Yelp
Their produce are not as fresh as others . And their price is also higher than other supermarket around the area

Blaire F.

Yelp
The shop was plentiful and filled with veggies and frozen delights. I came for black vinegar for my dumplings. There was a whole aisle dedicated to such items and it was a bit overwhelming if you can't read the language. I am trying to stay away form bad oils and unnecessary additives, which most of the pre made sauces/vinegars had. The staff is not helpful so you are on your own if you have something particular in mind. The service at checkout was fast so no wait times are a bonus. To add some variety to my crisper drawer I got Yu Choy Sum which is also known as Chinese Flowering cabbage. It supposedly has a sweater taste than Chinese broccoli. It is a leafy vegetable with stems.

Bob S.

Yelp
I read some of the earlier reviews; concerns about sanitation, presentation, a language barrier. I've been going to Chinatown for over half a century. If anything it's getting gentrified. Gone are the flop houses on Bowery, a lot of the restaurant supply houses (they were great for equipment and way cheaper then Williams Sonoma for the same stuff). I never thought of reviewing the place. I go there and one or two other places in Chinatown, the same as I wouldn't think of reviewing the local supermarket. But, this time I thought I would. Once you get past the cashiers up front, then the fun starts. The seafood can't get much fresher; it's still alive. Not sitting on ice for who knows how long. There's plenty of ingredients, from vegetables to sauces. Down stairs are ramen and other pantry items. If you're into cuisines and cooking; I'm not talking being a Foodie this place can cover all your food needs. They have been giving samples of cooking sauces (curries) or frozen foods. Some are good others ehh. They don't cost anything to try them. If you like it buy it. I'm glad they take credit cards; sometimes I get a little carried away with my purchases.

Jonghan L.

Yelp
If you want organized chaos, this is where it's at. Cheap affordable groceries, and goodies from China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. What more can go wrong here?

Matt L.

Yelp
As far as asian grocery foods go, HK supermarket does an excellent job at providing the things one would need for preparing asian related cuisines. While the selection is slightly smaller than that in J-mart (over in flushing), I think that generally speaking this is the best place in Manhattan for this kind of stuff. Where to start... well the vegetable selection is great here. Chinatown is known for having lots of good vegetable offerings and deals out on the street, but the prices in the store are pretty much the same as those on the street- the key difference is that the grocery store here is much better stocked, so even if you come later in the day, HK supermarket will probably not have run out of the item you want to buy, whereas street vendors most likely have. I've actually never bought meat here. One of the things that, in my opinion, prevents most Chinese grocery stores from reaching the five star mark is the presentation of their meats. I think in theory it should be exactly the same as some of the other stores that sell meat (such as whole foods), but the presentation is really lacking. Lots of times, stores like this have somewhat dirty looking displays- I kind of doubt they are actually lacking in a sanitary sort of standard, but they don't do a very good job of making sure glass displays are clean, so it kind of reflects poorly on the quality of meat, I suppose. I also greatly appreciate the amount of sauces these guys offer. I feel like they could go the extra mile and add a few more descriptions for their products, NOTE: they have some cats running around here, though it doesn't seem like the storekeepers pay too much attention to this. I'm not sure if these are stray cats that are just tolerated, or if they're actually owned by the store. It's not a problem (unless you're allergic), but just something to note.

Lisa M.

Yelp
This place is so much bigger, and has way to offer than you would expect by the looks of it from the outside. Don't forget there's still a downstairs as you wander through all the fresh produce and goods on the first floor. It gets heavy foot traffic for good reason; it's packed with a large variety of Asian food products at reasonable prices.

William L.

Yelp
Pluses They are very well supplied . I can usually find what I want whether it's Japchae or organic soba noodles or red bean ice popsicles. Negative : The workers are not your most pleasant people but you have to suck it up if you want to get the item. Just prefer to limit interaction. Prices of items will be a bit higher if you really compare. 2.99 vs 2.49 in queens for popsicles. 3.49 vs 2.75 for noodles at a po wing hong down the street but had to buy them here because po wing hong had no more . I think their vegetables are however very reasonably well priced. In essence good supply but be aware of what you buy but then again the price difference is not that big for small items.

Connie H.

Yelp
Yeahhhh I dig this place. It's huge and gets me the Asian food items that my local Trader Joe's cannot hook me up with, including: + Sua Dau Nanh drinkz (soy milk) + Lap xuong (Chinese sausage) + Bin bin rice crakers + Dem pork bunzzz + Lots of Pocky flavors + and more!! As another plus, they accept credit cards. So stay winning, HK supermarket.

Keith F.

Yelp
One of the best supermarkets in the 5 boroughs. I have been going here for many years.

Eddie C.

Yelp
My go-to Asian grocery store in NYC. Though they are one of the most expensive in Chinatown, they are the cleanest and offer the freshest products. The variety is staggering, as one could easily be intimidated by the rows upon rows of sauces and veggies. I suggest going in with a list but be ready to make impulse purchases! During COVID times, I would avoid coming on a Saturday as there isn't too much social distancing, though everyone wears masks. Try Sunday afternoon instead. There are two floors - be sure to check out the basement floor for all of your snacks and noodle needs

Becky M.

Yelp
This is usually a good one-stop shop for everything you need! The fresh groceries are relatively cheap, with a wide array of everything you need. OK, so MOST of the groceries are pretty fresh, sometimes they're selling stuff off for pretty cheap because its starting to go bad... There's also a live fish counter, a meat counter on the right side - though to be fair, I got a bit turned off here once when there was something wet dripping from the ceiling. I haven't purchased any meat from here yet, but if you go downstairs, they have a huge selection of dry pantry goods: noodles, tea, snacks, bowls and dishwares. I think there is also a friendly black and white cat that lives in the store too. I've seen him wandering the aisles and it doesn't seem to bother anyone.

Matthew F.

Yelp
They say they're open until 8, I was in there at 7pm, spent 30 mins filling a cart, multiple employees walking past me not saying anything. I go up to the register and they won't let me pay say, tell me to leave rudely, no apology.

Adam S.

Yelp
I didn't care for this market much before the crisis, but price gouging?! Enjoy a two star review for now, and when this is over, quietly reminding the community what you did, for years to come. https://www.boweryboogie.com/2020/04/hong-kong-supermarket-in-chinatown-faces-nearly-70k-in-fines-for-repeat-price-gouging/

Yelp
This supermarket is located on the corner of hester and elizabeth. Every time we need some Chinese canned goods or some Chinese veggies we make sure to stop by here. Prices are good here. This place can get super crowded on the weekends and line to checkout can get extremely long. We usually get the canned goods here. These Chinese canned goods are hard to find in jersey unless you go to the 99 ranch in Hackensack. But the prices there are more expensive. I guess not a lot of Chinese grocery competition there. Here these can come to be around 2.50 so we make sure to stock up as much as we can. The veggies are fresh too. I think one time we bought some bokchoy and after a week in our refrigerator, a caterpillar crawled out of our veggies while washing. My wife freaked out but I knew that this is a sign that the veggies are fresh. Anyways be careful of asking for extra plastic bags at checkout because some cashiers got so infuriated because I took an extra bag just to double bag my groceries.

Yelp
I read a few days ago that Hong Kong supermarket was fined $70k for price gouging, and went in today (4/14/20) to see for myself. They're still charging $24.99 for Clorox wipes and $12 for a single KN95 mask even after being fined. I notified 311 and won't ever go back. Totally unconscionable, I hope they get fined many more times over.

Yelp
As far as prices and variety, it's hard to beat this grocery store/supermarket. I do most of my grocery shopping here on a weekly basis due to its convenience and low prices. Moreover, here I discovered some interesting produce that I've come to love, such as yu choi tips, ear mushroom, xinjian fragrant pears, and Korean melons. Some of the stuff here is hit or miss: one week you may get a great deal for some very tasty fruit or vegetables; the following week the same item at the same price tastes like cardboard. Hygiene standards are also a bit of hit or miss. The guys at the fishmonger stall wear gloves at all times, but I've seen one clean his ears with a toothpick... while wearing gloves. I've seen a guy open a bottle of soy sauce, pour some of the content in the cap, drink it, screw the cap back, and put the bottle back in the shelf. Bottom line: if you buy something here make sure the item is properly sealed. The place is always busy, but aisles tend to be always well-stocked, and lines move fast. I also must confess that have a crush on one of the check-out ladies: a tiny woman with a feeble voice who always seemed sweet to me... until once somebody translated to me what she was saying to a colleague: "You can't even lift a 50lb bag of rice, and you call yourself a man?! What can of man are you?! I pity you". I'm in love.

Yelp
Price gouging at height of the pandemic. $30 for a tub of Lysol wipes. Reported to 311 and channel 7.

Yelp
Hong Kong Supermarket is two stories with a variety of fresh produce, snacks and more snacks. Having been around many years, HK supermarket does not fail to satisfy my cravings when I need a certain snack. Though the Manhattan Chinatown Supermarket is closer to me, I would make my way to HK for certain snacks MC doesn't carry. Inside the supermarket there is a small sushi stand which I absolutely love. The prices for the sushi are so reasonable (2.50$ for a california roll) and they are always fresh. When I am shopping for groceries and need instant sushi, this place is my go-to.

Yelp
I could get utterly lost here, and in fact did for a couple of hours. There's far too much here to accurately describe, but suffice it to say that just about everything under the sun is available for purchase here. The ground level of the supermarket is exclusively Asian, replete with relevant produce, seafood, and meats. All manner of wet and dry ingredients line the numerous and extensive shelves, with a sizeable frozen section as well. Downstairs leans a little more toward American grocery items, but not exclusively; in addition to imported snack items, it also features cookware and dinnerware. Hong Kong Supermarket has an astounding array of products, and very reasonable prices. Be sure to bring your cultural sensitivity to deal with the rudeness; on my last visit, a very old Chinese lady head-butted me in the chest because I was in her way. Come for the food, stay for the show.

Yelp
Love this place and have been stopping in for years. Everything you need for any asian cooking. Also many items that you will not find in other supermarkets. One upside is that it does not smell and it is not dirty like some other Asian markets. One downside is do not expect to get any help/assistance if you are not a Chinese speaker. Conveniently located, great prices, huge selection. Be sure to grab and try some things that you may not have any idea of what it is. It will either be a huge hit or a very big miss.
