"Right off the freeway tucked behind a Best Buy on the Westbank, Hong Minh has an excellent menu of Chinese specialties, alongside some traditional Vietnamese and Asian fusion dishes. It’s a gem for takeout, with menu highlights that include Mongolian beef, roast duck, wonton soup, and beef with broccoli. Great lunch special." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

This restaurant really is a hole in a wall. I was a little skeptical when I arrived here because of how sketchy the outside was and how outdated the inside was, but the service was still nice and the food was really good. We got the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings ($13.00), the Beef Chow Fun ($17.00), and the Roasted Duck Noodle Soup ($13.00). All three dishes were freshly made and had huge portions. Hong Minh isn't a fancy place, but I'd still give it a chance if you haven't tried it before.

Google
This is the Cantonese food I’ve been looking for for awhile! I love their food! It’s the authentic Cantonese cuisine and I recommend their Roasted Duck and Beef Chow Fun! Only $19 for roast duck, and $16 for the beef chow fun, and salted fish and chicken fried rice for $14. Super delicious and tons of food, we have to get few boxes to bring it back home!

Google
By far the best wonton soup in all of New Orleans. Wontons are handmade and bursting with flavor. Broth is flavorful and not too salty. Greens in there are perfectly cooked. That said not everything here is equally good. The roast pork looks better than it tasted -- didn't have much of a bark / crust on it. And the fried rice that came with the lunch special tasted stale. I've been here many times -- their Singapore Mai Fun is great as are all their green vegetable dishes.

Google
Wow. Very authentic food. Every meal we have had here has been excellent. This is my new favorite lunch spot. I have yet to take the wife here for dinner but she has had leftovers many times so far and loved everything also! The amounts of food they give you are huge. Definitely big enough to split or have some good leftovers. Seriously go eat here!

Google
This is my favorite Chinese food place. It is in a strip mall and very plain. The service is competent, but sometimes language can be a bit of a problem. The roast pork is great, as well as the duck. Salt and pepper green beans are a must. The wonton soup with or without noodles is also great. The lunch special at $13 is a great deal.

P Ieong

Google
This restaurant is off the beaten path. The roasted duck here is really flavorful and the empress chicken is pretty good. (Pretty fresh too since it was served with a few feathers still attached) I really liked their beef chow fun. It had a lot of wok flavor. My negative would be the wonton soup. Bland and i did not like the flavor of the wontons. It was a decent lunch overall if you happen to be in the area and looking for a more authentic asian meal.

Google
Just for this they are charging people 13$ no side and just 5 wings with jalapeño ridiculous stuff don’t even look edible and the place dirty inside

Laura Nguyen

Google
Wow! Very impressed! I heard about this place and since living in metairie. I rarely go to the West Bank. Well it worth the drive! We got the wings . Wow oh wow! The duck soup is to die for! The menu is something unique compare to other Vietnamese restaurant. I had a bunch of food my hubby did a takeout. We usually order 5-7 things as we just big eater. So when I went... I decided to order 8 other dishes so we can give also all the menu a try. Absolutely good and no regret among us two. We of course had alot of left over and brought it home for our son. They have this pig ear salad, marinade chicken feet with a special peanut sauce that was so good. I would come back for all repeats with most of what we had. If you are a adventurous eater. You will love this place. If you are not. It okay... There are alot of other things that will amaze you.

Yelp
It's as good as it looks. Just a truck driver stopping by. Will come back if I ever get chance

Yelp
Solo lunch during the week. Went based on all the rave reviews; I wasn't impressed. Service was inconsistent. It appeared there was one server and a few "back ups" who probably worked in the kitchen or cleared tables, though the place was very busy and appeared to be a favorite with local workers. I really wasn't sure to whom I was to address my requests, and the second person to my table spoke Spanish (no English) so I had to ask with pointing and didn't get the response I wanted. Had the salt and pepper pork lunch with fried rice. Made the choice based on pictures on the menu and no description - hated that, especially since I couldn't get anyone to return to the table to explain to me how it was prepared and describe the other choices I was considering. Did not realize pork was fried (again - no description) and ran into a lot of bones and fat. Didn't finish my meal and took leftovers, but ended up throwing them out. I'll continue to find my "Happy Asian Food Place," because this wasn't it.

Yelp
Both yelp and google have high reviews on this so I wanted to try it. I was very disappointed in the food. The General Tso Chicken was dry and bland, the Lo Mein barely had meat in it and was bland and greasy, the shrimp fried rice barely had shrimp in it and the salt n pepper chicken was mediocre.Overall the food had no flavor.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Not very good pho, it lacked flavor and was really plain . Their boba tea was pretty good. Wouldn't go back.

Don G.

Yelp
I grew up in NYC loving the food in Chinatown, so when a local friend suggested we have lunch at Hong Minh in nearby Harvey, I thought "oh no, suburban Chinese food... blah." I quickly shed my preconceptions once food started arriving at our barebones table in a plain-Jane dining room in this nondescript strip mall. Dang! This is easily up there with the best Chinese food you'll find anywhere in the country. Highlights include BBQ pork, roasted duck, salt & pepper string beans and Singapore mei fun. I asked one of the owners who was taking a break from hacking up roast ducks what part of China they were from and he said "Hong Kong and Taiwan, NOT China." Take that, China and preconceptions!

Huyen N.

Yelp
Small, hole in the wall restaurant tucked away in the back on Manhattan. As you drive up, there's a display window with hanging roasted ducks and possibly a male figure standing there cutting roasted pork for orders. It's ran by a family that seem to work together for every position needed. So don't be alarmed if you see a young child walking around or an auntie sitting around. My favorite dishes are of course the roasted duck, roasted pork, and noodle soup with roasted duck. The duck is sold by half order or whole and pork sold by the pound. The soup is flavorful and is complimented well with the protein. I usually order takeout but decided to dine in today. Had the salted fish and chicken fried rice, stir fried green veggies, ga quy phi (empress chicken), and duck. Rice was good, not too salty. Warning..the chicken is served cold, so order accordingly. It came with a sauce to dip with but it's not your type of dish if you can't get over the whole temperature thing. Overall, everything was delicious.

Kindy C.

Yelp
Found Hong Minh through other Yelp reviews and decided to try them for lunch. The service was good. I only waited about 5 minutes after ordering. I ordered a broccoli /chicken plate, fried bun, and vegetable spring rolls to-go. I spent $20. The plate came with rice. I did not care for the fried rice. I could not stop eating the spring rolls and wish I would have ordered more than one bun. The bun reminded me of a meat pie; it was flaky. I would go back just for those two items!

Yelp
Always always always amazing. The food is always great and the staff is always so nice. Price has gone up but that is every where in this economy.

Diem P.

Yelp
Great food served fast! Typical hole in the wall and family run restaurant. So lower expectations in terms of ambiance and decorations - and enjoy the simple great food! Empress chicken is the BEST I've ever had ANYWHERE! The meat was so flavorful even without using the ginger and scallion sauce. Great roast pork - delicious flavor and served over pickled carrots and daikon which complements the saltiness of the pork. Wonton soup was also tasty. Wonton skin was perfect - not too thin and not too thick. Perfect to eat with the BBQ meats. Flat noodles with beef - tasty loads of beef but noodle was too broken. Overall - great Chinese BBQ spot and will come back again next time I'm in NOLA.

Paul S.

Yelp
This is definitely not your average Chinese restaurant. Service was very friendly, the food very good, the price is very reasonable. Went with a friend we had the generals chicken, Mongolian beef, potstickers, and a epic 3 meat combo plate that was not on the menu but the waitress let us know about. They also have a great lunch special prices.

Annie L.

Yelp
Accidentally found this place and didn't expect to like the food but it was pretty good!? Hahah I was shocked myself! Very skeptical and was in a rush and they were quick to put my orders to go!? Definitely will come back and maybe even cater through them!?

Kelley T.

Yelp
We love it here and are now regular customers! The owners and the entire staff are very nice people that always deliver consistent and authentic food! If you haven't tried Hong Minh yet, you are missing out!

Lin L.

Yelp
We went there hungry.. we placed order. The food came out so fast. Staff is friendly and the food is yummy. A bit surprised the place is slow. Hope they will have good business.. family vibes and good food. Go check out if you are in Louisiana

Sabrina N.

Yelp
This is probably my 4th or 5th time here. The food and service is always great. The salt and pepper wings are me and my friends favorite to get here. The potsticker was also really good (it has pork). Their thai tea is delicious too. Usually I get something different every time I come, so I got the fried udon and it was good, of course. The portion size was very large too. I was only able to eat half of my food. They don't really have desserts, but I seen in the front of the restaurant pictures of mango coconut jelly (I believe) and omg it was 10/10. Side note: The parking lot is almost always full because the restaurant is connected to a store. In case you cannot find one in front or on side the restaurant, there is a small parking space across the street (with the yellow rail).

Katie H.

Yelp
This place is SO DANG GOOD! We went a little nuts with the menu and came home with like 14 boxes of food, but every single thing was so bomb. My faves were the Mongolian beef, Udon noodles, lo mein, the spring rolls, and omggg the Thai tea *drooooool*. The outside is a bit run down, but don't judge a book by its cover. The staff was fantastic and quick, and parking was ample. Perfect rainy day lunch (followed by several days of yummy leftovers!). COVID hours are 9am-5pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Masks are mandatory! Will definitely be back very, very soon!

Robert V.

Yelp
Good Chinese food. It's a very consistent. That always has good stuff. It's my go to on the West Bank.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
A fellow Yelp friend brought me here for lunch last weekend as it is one of his favorite eateries. Owned by a family that all works together in the restaurant, Hong Minh has the reputation of being the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the area. It's a modest space but fairly large with roast ducks hanging in the front. One of the owners, Dave, recommended we try the mandarin chicken and Mongolian beef dishes. We added the dumplings to round out our meal. The chicken was a yellow skinned, cold chicken that was cleavered into pieces and served with a ginger garlic oil sauce. It was savory and pleasant on a hot day. The Mongolian beef was a $9.50 lunch special that came with white rice and a small veggie egg roll - it was a huge portion and I could only eat half of it. The beef was a less sweet, more savory, saucier version than I have had and it was excellent with tender pieces of meat and veggies. I would definitely get this dish again! The dumplings were good but deep fried and I prefer a steamed or pan fried version, but that's a personal preference. The staff (family) was warm, friendly and helpful with our choices with Dave taking some time to chat with us at the end. This place is a great little treasure over on the Westbank. It was worth the trip.

Yelp
Gosh this place is so good. I've been on the hunt for quality Chinese food ever since moving to New Orleans, and this hole-in-the-wall Viet/Chinese spot is IT. Tbh my criteria imo isn't *super picky*-- what I really look for in good Chinese food is that smoky wok hei flavor, something I didn't find at many places out here until Hong Minh. They have a huge variety of dishes, and I haven't tried a dish so far that I didn't like. My go-to is the beef chow fun. Prices can be on the higher end from what you'd expect at a hole-in-the-wall joint (eg, one order of beef chow fun is ~$17), but there aren't many places out here that can do it better, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It's a place I keep coming back to, and I'd definitely recommend trying Hong Minh if you haven't done so yet!

Jim N.

Yelp
Since leaving San Francisco, I have gotten very picky about my Chinese food. Prior to our visit here, the only really good Chinese food we found in New Orleans was quite expensive. Hong Minh is exactly what one would expect - minimal decor, large round family sized tables, friendly people and REAL DEAL Chinese food. I have had the kung pao chicken, BBQ Pork, and roast duck and each of them was prepared and seasoned beautifully and reasonably priced. If I were to die right now having just finished my meal, I could do so with a smile on my face...

Eric B.

Yelp
I've been sick with the crud. Wife went by and picked up some dinner. Food is so fantastic and made with love. It's like I got a chance to sit with the family at dinner. Roasted duck soup and wonton soup spring rolls and some drip coffee. They did it so right all my soups garnish and stock were separated. Went ahead and grabbed a roasted duck as well for dinners later on this week. The price was fair as well. It's the little things that make a place so great.

Tara T.

Yelp
Hidden gem! How have I lived on the WB all my life and have never eaten here! Food is authentic, plentiful, and I already have a list of what I want to try next! I had the Mango Chicken lunch special today and it did not disappoint!

Vy N.

Yelp
This place is under new management. We had order a whole roasted duck and it was very bland! Usually when we order it had redish color and have flavor. We also ordered the roast pig it was okay. Really disappointed and expensive.

Janet N.

Yelp
I always pass by and never stopped by. My sister wanted to try their food so we stopped by and I am glad we did. The food was flavorful and different. I am used to eating my broth base food with lots of veggies like bean sprout, basil, and onion but this place the broth base soup doesn't come with it. It is whatever in your bowl.

Meagan J.

Yelp
Hong Minh.... All I can say is wow and why haven't I visited sooner! The food is amazing. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken lunch plate with pork fried rice for 8.45. The food was delicious and they give you really nice portions! The chicken was spicy, hot with heat as it was made to order and the fried rice didn't need sweet and sour or soy sauce! It was perfect! I'm so happy this spot is less than 3 minutes from my home because they've just earned a local supporter! Please give this place a try. The food was so authentic and fresh, it reminded me of street Chinese food I would typically only order in New York in Chinatown. PERFECTION!

Julia W.

Yelp
Time for an update! Go to's: -Wonton soup -Roast duck -Stir fried veggies -BbqPork-(just make sure you go early or on a busy day so it's super fresh and tender) Beef chow fun Least favorites: -Salt and pepper chicken wings Sometimes it's a little bit too dry. Think that their salt n pepper a little too much msg since I am usually really thirsty after I eat this. -Roast pig: On occasion, it is okay. Sometimes the meat is not flavorful enough or skin is not puffy and crunchy enough, but at least the pork is always fresh. General consensus is that I wouldn't say that they have the best authentic style Chinese food, but it is one of the few in the area and it does have some tasty dishes. Foodwise-3.5 Service- 3.0 I have frequented less since it closes at 5 and I can't make it there in time after work. Another reason, is that there is another lady who answers the phone now and she can be a little rude sometimes. It makes the ordering process a little dreadful since it feels a little unwelcoming. The older lady and her son are really nice though.

Kent N.

Yelp
Fly house. Not much parking, not much air condition inside. A lot of phone orders while my wife and I the only patients there at the time. Nice portions very tasty.

Kylia H.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese! Roast duck is the real deal! Delicate and delicious shrimp fried rice! Choy sim with garlic was perfectly cooked and seasoned! Felt like I was eating back in china town from my home state in CA. Now that I know, we'll be back for more- even if I just pick it up and bring it home!

Rainbowdash V.

Yelp
th The food was delicious.I han had honey chicken it had a little spic kick to it (spice) but was very good. not your usual honey chicken. Also had the cure chef mixed vegetables and added chicken very good.A+ on fast service.

Osamede O.

Yelp
In my quest to find a good non-fused chinese restaurant, I decided to visit this business on the West Bank. It is almost right off the freeway, but in a secluded area. I took my food home, but the restaurant was clean and I would have had no problem eating there. Food was good, coming from someone who grew up on Chinese Food in California. Menu is fairly extensive with most popular Chinese dishes on it. The roasted meats in the menu is usually a good sign, and the roasted duck was a great choice. Deep in flavor with its deliciously roasted skin. Chow Fun was also great with the wide thicker noodles, I added shrimp. You can never go wrong with the General TSO chicken, and this again was confirmation. Last the Green Beans were good with garlic and peppers for spice. Price was very reasonable, paying around $52 for the 4 entree sized dishes including a side of white rice. Look forward to returning for my Chinese Food cravings

Christine L.

Yelp
The food is amazing. So tasty. When in New Orleans you should head over to the Westbank to give this place a go. You won't be sorry.

Beonka M.

Yelp
Let me start with the fact that I'm so MAD!!! I've lived in this neighborhood all my life and have never eaten here. The high school across the street is my alma mater and I've seen the roasting ducks in the window my whole life and this gem slipped clean past me. There was always this place that over shadowed it(or so I thought). I had been saying I was gonna go there and try them but never made it; and I mean would go to the little market next door and never make it in the restaurant! We wanted Asian but were tired of the same old places so we decided to check out yelp and see what the number one spot was in our area(Boy what a smart idea that was) Upon entry we were greeted by who I'm sure is the owners son. He sat us and immediately brought the menus. There's this weird homey feel to the place(idk if that's what they were going for upon opening but that's definitely what they got) I mean even the staff(who I'm sure was all family) sat down at the family style table next to us and were eating while we ate! As an appetizer we ordered the spring rolls(Which I rate as a 4.5). They were hot and fresh and the dipping sauce was definitely HOMEMADE! They weren't as big as normal spring rolls I've had but they were great as a starter and weren't overly full of cabbage and carrots! Albeit the menu had pics it was a little hard to figure out how to order and what came with what, but no worries because our hostess helped us out! There's a great lunch special on a lot of stuff I gotta check out in the future too(yep that's right I will be back)!! I have this secret love affair with chicken(especially chicken wings). I'm like a junky with it too; always looking for somebody's wings who keep me coming back. Need I say they did not disappoint here! I ordered the salt and pepper wings(5) and my wife ordered the Mongolian Beef(5). Both came with white rice. Mine also came with an spring roll(yay). The chicken was so moist and I even ate the garlic and jalapeños with my rice. Me and wifey swapped plates(yes they give that much food) and I ate the rest of her Mongolian Beef. Now if u don't like spicy foods this ain't for you! I loved it. It was just the right amount of heat that I like in my food. Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy the beef as much because I was still lusting behind the chicken man!!!! I just wanted my last bite to be of one of those juicy wings man! This place is the best and now my new spot for takeout! We got there around 3 so they were out of all the roasted meats but I can't wait to get there earlier to try some! Go over and try them as soon as u can I promise no matter what u order you won't be disappointed! Might I add they are reasonably priced as well!!! MY MIND IS BLOWN!!!

Bishop L.

Yelp
Hole in the wall but holey Moley! Authentic Chinese and Vietnamese dishes! YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH ANYTHING HERE!!!!!

Phuong N.

Yelp
I had the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings lunch special that came with an egg roll and a choice of fried rice or white rice. The chicken was fried perfectly with sautee jalapenos and garlic. My sister always gets the same Pan Fried Noodle. The crispy pan fried noodles resemble a bird nest and is pile up with flavorful seafood and veggies with a thick sauce. Mom had the Roasted Duck Noodle soup. Mom's a lite eater but she ate all her food so you know it must be good. We also ordered the Choy Sim with garlic. It was delish, not overly sauce up like most restaurant we go to. Service was great as always.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Don't expect a 5-star atmosphere at this family owned (and ran) restaurant, but the food and the warm service definitely deserve 5-stars. It's a small menu that is clearly focused on quality and not quantity. I've tried about a handful of dishes and every thing is so flavorful and very reasonably priced. A few of my favorites are the salt and pepper wings, salt and pepper pork chops, and the beef chow fun. Their duck and roasted pork are delicious as well! It's definitely a hidden gem and I am hooked!

Tamia G.

Yelp
This is a wonderful Vietnamese, Chinese, and Asian Fusion restaurant on the West Bank of New Orleans. I visit weekly and have tried something new each time...without disappointment. In fact, I no longer order from the menu; instead, I ask what specialty items they have for the day. From roast duck to creamy eggplant to stew goat to succulent shrimp to roast pork, Hong Minh delivers made-to-order cuisine that is flavorful, fresh, and robust. Their main staples include noodle soups, seafood stir fry's, pot stickers, roast duck and pork, and rice dishes. The vast majority of clientele consisted of a very loyal following. This is a "Mom and Pop" style restaurant, with three generations present each day. They have free parking, ample small and large tables for dine-in folks, as well as a steady To-Go line. The dećor and accommodations are modest but it's very clean and comfortable. A wonderful staple in the community, that draws me across the river every week!

Chosita P.

Yelp
Very good food this place , every time i go alway had happy meal. I alway ate there and take to go order too

Sascha B.

Yelp
Can't say much that hasn't already been said, but I'll just echo everyone else. This place is truly fantastic. A true hidden gem. Tucked away on a side street in Harvey, you have to know where you're going, but boy is it worth finding. Friendly service, food quick to come out, and everything we tried was just delicious. By far the best Chinese food we've had in the NOLA area. There were just four of us, but I think we managed to sample about half the menu. Of course, the wonton soup is a must have (pro tip, add roasted duck, if you're into that). The veggies were great (choy sum and string beans, which were an off the menu special), as was the Mongolian beef (great sauce). Singapore Mei fun, salt and pepper chicken wings, and potstickers (not pictured) were all also very tasty. The only thing that wasn't a smash hit (still good, mind you, just a rung below the rest) was the char siu pork. Will try the roast pork next time. If you like real Chinese food, you must check this place out. You will not be disappointed!

Anthony L.

Yelp
The combo fried rice, roasted duck, and roasted pork were great. Also heard good things about the salted fish fried rice. That will be for next time.

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Hole in the wall Vietnamese place. Get the wonton soup, add chili paste, get a soda Chan- no salt. Order half a duck to go and half the roasted pork belly to go, eat with your wonton soup and then take the rest home for a second meal. Prob best roasted pork belly and roasted duck that I know of

Diana N.

Yelp
What in the world?! I'm traveling through New Orleans for just three days, and for two of them, I'm dining at this joint? As a major foodie of Chinese food, that speaks volumes! I've eaten at the finest Chinese foodie joints in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, San Fran and NYC, and this unassuming joint beats them in so many categories. The top chef and owner, Van, takes GREAT pride in his trade and makes the most ridiculous, authentic Chinese dishes dance in your mouth. Yepppp... get ready for some happy dances! Char Siu (roasted bbq pork)- hands down the best I've ever had!! I could eat a whole plateful on my own and not look back. Sweet, charred, salty, and fatty... just the way I like it. Roasted pork (the crispy skin pork belly) - while this is also amazing, the whole roasted pig is the breadwinner! You can order the whole pig for 342$. You can order jus the pork belly or the whole suckling pig. The skin has the perfect crispy crunch. The super tender pork and perfectly salted. This is their signature dish... winnah winnah piggy dinnah! Seafood chow mein- eating chow mein Hong Kong style is really the only way to eat it in my book. The noodles are delicately crispy while the seafood toppings are drenched in a perfect sonata of flavors. Wonton Mein soup- believe it or not, it's a typical Chinese breakfast item and this does not disappoint. The wontons are such perfect purses of pork and secret ingredient that make this taste especially yummy, that you'll want to inhale this without a second thought! Stir fried eggplant-It's just eggplant ... but holy cow it just melts in your mouth! The flavors collide so beautifully and are a perfect compliment to the meaty dishes. This is also his signature item, not to be missed. Still dreaming about it days later... I had the most amazing opportunity to try a few of their menu items as well as a few of their off menu items. It was seriously the highlight of my trip! I am counting the days I will return back to NoLA so I can eat the best Chinese food I know. Just so ironic to find it hidden in a hole in a wall. Seriously the best little gem! For all you folks who like the Americanized Chinese food, this may seem different to you. This family owned and operated joint prides itself in making only the finest AUTHENTIC Chinese dishes. Don't bother asking for sweet and sour chicken Panda Express style. This is the real deal but taken up a few notches. You've got do it right and wear loose fitting clothes cuz you're going to want to everything! Thank me later :)

Connie K.

Yelp
Very unexpected delicious find. Searched for near by Chinese and found Hong Minh. The Mongolian beef was super delicious and very spicy. After four or five bites my lips were burning. I loved it!

Doug W.

Yelp
Wow. I never thought I'd find a place as great as this around the New Orleans area. I had a favorite place similar in Chicago and was a little homesick for it until I found this restaurant. We've been a couple times now. I've had the roast pork, roast duck, pot stickers and Chinese broccoli. All terrific. Just perfect. Today we had a great preparation of green beans worth garlic and jalepenos. The service and family are warm and welcoming. The prices are awesome too. If you've never had this style of Chinese food you must go. Where else can you see a whole roast pig when you walk in a restaurant? Crispy skin and beautiful light savory sauce. Don't hesitate to cross the bridge to the West Bank!

Shannon S.

Yelp
This might be the best Chinese food I've had in the NOLA area. Their Mongolian beef is one of the finest examples of that dish I've ever had. The front of the restaurant has roast duck and pig on display. They make some amazing Chinese vegetable dishes but I wish they offered them in smaller portions as more of a side item as I want to eat all of them on every visit which doesn't work well if you are eating solo or just a couple of people. The service is friendly and efficient and while the location isn't the fanciest it is conveniently located near the Westbank Expressway. They also offer one of the best lunch values anywhere with their $7.50 daily lunch special.

Amy F.

Yelp
I'm thankful to live just a few minutes from this place. Ask for the string beans, off menu but usually available - sautéed with a ton of garlic and jalapenos (thick sliced so you can fish out if you need to). Singapore Mei Fun is my favorite - thin noodles cooked al dente, proteins, veg and a smoky stir fried taste. The duck, always, in whatever iteration. Everything I have tried here over the years has been aces.

Yelp
Love the chicken wings at Hong Minh. They are outstanding. We have ordered other dishes that were all good but the wings stand out.

Yelp
First time eating here and it was D###### good! One of the best roasted ducks I've ever had. Want duck soup and other yummy things? They got it too. Give them a try! Don't judge a book by its cover.

Yelp
Love this place. Best dumplings in the Greater NOLA area. Mongolian beef is great. Their soups are like you are in Hong Kong. Just waiting for them to come back!

Yelp
I've convinced myself at this point that its's soup weather. Even if the temperatures have only dipped enough to tease us. Today I hit up a hidden away Chinese joint on the Westbank called Hong Minh. We use the words hidden gem a lot describing restaurants, but seriously, some of these places are really tucked away. If you were cruising by, you might mistake Hong Minh as a typical bodega, but it is FAR from that. In my opinion, it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in New Orleans. Just when I think I've found the best bowl of soup in town, something like the Noodle Soup with House made Wontons and Roasted Duck comes along and makes me question myself. The beauty in Hong Minh's version is in its simplicity and its execution. The broth is complex. Salty, but not overly so. The essence of chicken shines through. The noodles are stringy, chewy, and hearty. The Wontons are encased in a whisper of a wrapper that gives way to the peppery bite of springy, fresh tasting shrimp and spiced pork. Sweet, savory, and insanely satisfying. I could devour a bowl of these little wontons on their own, with nothing more than a little chili oil. The roast duck here is hands down the best in New Orleans. Smokey, sweet, and rich. Even in the soup the skin held a bit of crunch and the meat melted away in my mouth. For $8.95, this is a lot of flavor for your buck. I can't wait to go back and try the Roast Pork and Empress Chicken. I should also note that I had some of the most amazing tea. I curiously opened the pot to see what brand it was, only to find it full of medicinal herbs and flowers. Fantastic!
