"Hông Phát will take over one of Eastport Plaza’s anchor spaces, a 154,000 square-foot building which formerly accommodated a Walmart. The Vietnamese supermarket’s founder and CEO Brandon Wang and business partner Hoang Nguyen acquired the property in a $20 million sale. The supermarket will occupy approximately three-quarters of the property, and the remaining space will be leased out to tenants. Customers can expect “multiple food services in a food court section with fast food and takeout options,” Wang told the Oregonian. The new store will be Hông Phát’s fourth; it opened its first location in the Parkrose neighborhood in 2003 before expanding to Montavilla in 2013 and Tigard last summer. Hông Phát will open at 4200 SE 82nd Avenue — a projected opening date has not yet been announced." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Good spot for shopping . The store is very big and has lots of imported items. Fresh produce and lots of meat, seafood and poultry options. It might take a while finding what you really need. But I think the point is to try new/ different food items. Large verity of snacks and sauces. They have a bakery in house and other services .

Google
Crazy large, expansive, clean superstore for pretty much anything you can ever imagine wanting as far as Asian grocery goes. I got a bag of 100 sticks of instant coffee with real sugar for less than 14 bucks, so I can't complain. Would highly recommend if you're nearby to check it out.

Hong Phat Supercenter is a great place to shop for Asian food, offering a wide variety of options. I visited a couple of months ago, and the store was still new and clean. It’s perfect for finding all sorts of ingredients for Asian cooking!

More interesting than the Walmart that preceded it could have ever hoped to be, this brand-spanking-new Hong Phat Supercenter is something to behold. While it is still coming online and filling out with new features and tenants, the place is absolutely sprawling, and filled with more variety of imported goods than I have seen anywhere else, outside of Uwajimaya in Beaverton. The produce here, like all Hong Phats, is larger, better quality, and cheaper than any commercial chain grocer such as WinCo, Safeway, or Fred Meyer. Just about any ingredient, sauce, or spice you can imagine (and more than a few you can't!) is readily available here, if you know where to look; some items are squirreled away in places that aren't immediately intuitive, but as you are likely to spend quite a while exploring this place, you'll find it eventually, if you are patient. I have read that this flagship Hong Phat is meant to eventually host restaurants, a more populated Food Court than it is currently, as well as specialty retailers and services, much like the mini-mall surrounding Fuboon, a little further north, in between this Hong Phat and the other big one, near Stark Street. While that is a vision as yet unrealized, you can see that the wheels are turning to make this a grocery store experience unlike any other in the Portland-Metro. It's not there yet, but I have high hopes that it will be, in the near future.

The New Hong Phat Market is an absolute gem in the area, and I’m so glad to have discovered it! From the moment you step inside, it’s clear this market offers an authentic experience that stands out from other grocery stores. The variety of products is impressive — whether you’re looking for fresh produce, Asian specialty ingredients, or unique snacks, this place has it all. One of the highlights of the market is the incredible selection of fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits. You’ll find hard-to-get items like Thai basil, lemongrass, and fresh kaffir lime leaves, all perfect for adding that extra depth to your cooking. The quality of the produce is always top-notch, and I appreciate how well-organized the aisles are, making it easy to navigate through the large store. The meat and seafood section is also fantastic. They carry a wide range of fresh fish, shellfish, and meats, including many cuts that you might not find at a typical supermarket. The butchers are knowledgeable and willing to help if you’re looking for something specific, and they’ll often offer great recommendations. The market also carries an impressive variety of dry goods, from noodles and sauces to packaged snacks and beverages. I’ve always been able to find what I need for my recipes, and there are always new, interesting products to try. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. What really sets The New Hong Phat Market apart is the overall experience. It’s clean, well-maintained, and offers a true taste of Asian culture right in the heart of the community. Whether you’re an experienced cook or just looking to try something new, this market is a must-visit! p/s: you can get frozen sugar cane

This place is huge! It was so fun to browse through all the produce and the food court. There were 4 different types of banh mi's wrapped and ready to go... Sadly I wasn't hungry and didn't try one. The photo attached is of the ramen isle (huge assortment). I will definitely go back.

Google
As a person that loves asian foods, and like to cook also. First visit, and now I am hooked. Hands down one of the largest variety of asian food supplies that I have ever seen! 3 & 1/2 hours I went through about 1/3 of this massive supply store! Found 3 items that the older store did not have!

Google
Store was so big and had everything Asian plus some great other ethnic brands for Mediterranean and beyond. The food court served up some terrific salad rolls, peanut sauce and a super yum iced coffee. Staff super friendly.

Yelp
Visiting family from Cali. Went to this store 3 out of the 4 days I was in town. Still haven't completely been able to browse aisle by aisle. Place is huge! Looking toward to coming back and making sure I get to go thru the aisles without rushing. Service was great. Stores nice and clean. The banh mi was pretty good. Loved the deal they had, a banh mi & a drink! not sure if it's ongoing or just a promotion. Also purchased an ao dai for my son at the shops in the front. Great quality in the fabric.

Yelp
This review is more for the one food court restaurant at the store's entrance than for the enormous supermarket (probably the biggest Asian grocery store on the west coast). There ain't much ambiance nor too many tables for dining since you're basically at the front area of a former Walmart. The staff are fast & friendly. The menu is limited but very affordable. And there's a constant stream of customers, mostly stopping for takeout. Imagine lots of fresh & cooked deli counter items, but all Asian themed. Viet salad rolls, roasted sweet & spicy chicken, bbq pork over rice, and the ever present banh mi sandwich. Plus at least 8 different cold Asian-type drinks (e.g., thai iced tea, fruit juices). We had the $5 special consisting of a banh mi sandwich (8 inches?) + drink. Pretty average tasting but a great value. The roast whole chicken @ $7.50 looked very tempting. All items are displayed but I wish there were a printed menu so choices (e.g., types of meat) and prices were clearly marked (nothing really to hide since all items appeared to be a great value).

Yelp
Put your mile walkers on as this store is a giant a** Superstore! Not to be fooled by the Asian namesake it's a world food market with a heavier Asian bent. Runs the gamut of cookware, dishes to typical Asian cuisines, with a fab Indian Spice section that'll save a trip to Hillsboro including the more obscure spices,The European aisles have the best candy section for a Brit expat, Mars, Smarties, Kit Kat and for true Eastern Euros there's quite the legit smoked sausage and beer to make any night merry and bright! At front, a Viet jewelry store + small deli serving $5 Viet Sammie's, all pre-packed, noodle bowls and desserts to grab+go, no need for service person. Got my Chinese haul for a home cooked Ma-Ma's dinner for now grown but always famished boys. Browse around you're sure to find some deals!

Yelp
Well it certainly is a super center of Asian grocery offering! The "Food Court" and deli are pretty minimal but do have some things. I bought a package of Char Siu Pork and although not bad, it wasn't the authentic we are used to. The produce section is quite large. As for meats and seafood the selection is extensive but it is 99% frozen. It is a wonderful addition to the community.

Yelp
This new addition to the Hong Phat empire is located in the former Walmart that closed because Portland let crime spiral unabated. About 15% of the store is allocated to back room inventory. We'll give 'em a break as they just opened: there was no overhead signage in the aisles and the overall experience was a bit chaotic when we visited. It's the third large Asian store in the immediate area, and about the seventh in a slightly larger radius. They don't offer anything unique so far, but time will tell. Their other location has a yummy waffle bar.

Yelp
Omg this market was absolutely amazing. My adhd was unhinged! I didn't even know where to start. Huge food court, tons of fresh produce, meats, frozen foods, etc. They even have a bulk section. They are still stalking items so there was some empty space and you can tell the food court area wasn't fully running just yet, but my guess is in the coming months when it's in full swing it's gonna be so so good!! Don't forget to grab a bahn mi, only $6.50 and was delicious! There was plenty more ready made items for a steal. I will definitely be back and get more photos to add when I do. I was having a blast in the moment.

Yelp
This review specifically just rates on the food they serve at the food court area. They have a special where you can get a banh mi and a drink for $5, which is an amazing deal. They also have other premade goods at an affordable price in the store. The store itself has a lot of things, mainly known for the fruit they sell and it's affordable

Geemee G.

Yelp
This is a VERY large store so be prepared to walk a lot. Because most staff do not speak English we had a bit more trouble locating all the items on our list. But the staff seemed helpful. Lots of interesting things and I would assume almost anything you would need.

Sarah A.

Yelp
Love the variety and the prices here, and I hate to be writing this....but as someone who has worked in food service and has training in food safety I was a bit shocked by the food that they had just sitting out at room temp. None of the food at the food court was in heaters or coolers...just sitting out on a table/counter. I thought maybe they could be swapping it out frequently, but the same food was out on tables in between aisles. Premade meals of meat, rice, cooked veggies, and other things that definitely needed to stay at safe temps were frequently left out. There was also frozen meats sitting out that were thawing, and I'm assuming will just be refrozen at the end of the day. Love hong phat, so I hope moving forward they put more into food safety.

Yelp
I am so glad Hong Phat took the place of the Walmart building. They have everything you could want and more!

Sam P.

Yelp
Cross contamination sent a family member to the hospital. I wouldn't eat shit from the hot food section if you are allergic to shellfish! Horrible service also

Glen A.

Yelp
One of the best grocery stores in the city. A great place to for everyday items and for so many types of cuisines.
