The house-made cranberry dipping sauce sent everything over the edge (especially paired with the crab and cream cheese dumpling). You can see that everything is made with love. I will be thinking about these dumplings for a long time 🤤

Maybe the worst Asian food I have ever eaten. I was so looking forward to trying it out and then in the extreme cold and wind I got in and there there was only one other person in there. After great assistance and guidance from the owner, she was fantastic by the way, I ordered 2 each of 3 types of dumplings and the "Boa Bun". The supposed Boa Bun was un-edible. Not sure what it was filled with, but I almost had to spit it out. The "dumplings" we not even close to dumplings. They were poorly made, poorly cooked oversized perogies. Guy, you really let me down this time.

I forced my boyfriend to take me to Hong’s Dumplings on our Vermont ski trip last winter right before we were heading home. We were exhausted from skiing all weekend, and we had a hefty trip back to New Jersey, but I had seen the spot on Food Network and knew we had to stop in. Unfortunately it was a Sunday, so we pulled up and it was CLOSED!! My boyfriend then sees someone inside so for the heck of it, he calls, and we see the person inside pick up the phone. We told them we were from NJ and how we really wanted to try the dumplings and they tell us to come inside. Hong personally opened her shop for us so that we could experience it because we failed to check the store hours. She fried us up dumplings, made us tea, and spoke with us, telling us about how she started her business. I have never had service like this before. We of course made sure to pay her, although she insisted we didn’t, and then personally exchanged phone numbers so we could send her the photos we took together. Dumplings were massive and soo delicious! Her daughter makes really great teas too. We plan to go back again this year, on Saturday when she’s open this time!! THANKS AGAIN HONG!

Short and simple. Great food: Great flavor, generous portions, served nice and hot. Great service: Sweet and friendly owner, very attentive. Great atmosphere: Well-known local hole-in-the-wall, customers and staff are all friendly, nice place for a quick bite. Thank you Hong! I'd love to return next time I'm in Burlington!

We stopped by here on a whim when we drove by and did not regret it. Excellent dumplings, reminds me of how my mother makes them. Didn't realize until my next trip to Burlington that the hours are so limited but would definitely plan around it to stop by.

I love Hong's Dumplings so much. She is open in January 2025 from 11am-7pm on Saturdays. I hope she continues to have hours throughout the year. I love the thick, chewy dough and delicious filling. The fried rice, cold sesame noodles, and scallion pancakes are delish too. I hope this recent review helps her get some good winter business!

Came by ten minutes after closing, she was locking up. We asked if there was any way we could buy some dumplings. She graciously let us in, we forgot to lock the door and another guy walked in behind us, she served him too. We ordered 16 dumplings and watched her hand make them to order. We talked to her while she made our food. She is very charming and cute. There is limited stool seating but that was fine for us. She has multiple sauces for the dumplings. The dumplings are large and chewy. We all preferred the pork but the creamcheese crab was also well liked. The food was excellent but the 5 stars are for her. She is one of those special people, works hard, shares her love. The dumplings and restaurant aren't about the asthetics, dig a little deeper and you will find what you are looking for.

@hongsdumplings was out of this world! The scallion pancake made me weep. I should have gotten 32 more to go! The other delicious pic are the Chicken & Cheese dumplings and a Crab & Cream Cheese dumpling. Sweet Mary Moses.... Nom Nom. We even got to meet and have a little chat with Ms. Hong! Whoot!

And here's where fell out of ketosis. Total carb fest but I went into the restaurant knowingly so it's no one's fault but mine. Oh, but it was such delicious, delicious fault. I picked this spot because it's a DDD restaurant. My second in Burlington after the Bluebird Barbecue for dinner last night. This isn't expensive food here. I ordered four of the dumplings, one of each. And because Ginger P. said so, a scallion pancake as well. It didn't take long and my friend and I sat in the restaurant and basically ate off our laps. That's okay. It's part of the experience! Pork, good. Veggie, good. Chicken and cheese, good. Crab and cheese, EXCELLENT. Pancake, good. They have a cooler with some sodas and juices. I needed a bottle of water with it. Overall, it was great. Lovely, creative and unexpected to find awesome dumplings in Vermont. Thanks, Guy Fieri! What can I say that hasn't already been said? Best dumplings in Burlington. Best I've ever had.

I'll just start this review by say no matter what else you want to order, make sure you get the scallion pancake. I didn't order it but had a taste of one from my friend and even as good as everything else was, I spent my whole meal just wishing I had a stack of the scallion pancakes in front of me. They are crispy and salty and savory and oh so delicious. I also has their pork dumpling. Fair warning, their dumplings are huge! (Compared to a traditional dim sum dumpling). The wrapper is chewy and crispy and the filling was so tasty. I also had the cold sesame noodles in peanut since. These were my least favorite dish, I felt it could have used a little more salt, but it was still a solid dish that I'd be happy to eat any day. They have a small indoor seating area but some nice outdoor benches outside. Also, their unique sweet cranberry dipping sauce is delicious! Food is ok, quite pricey for what it's worth. $2.5 for a dumpling?? Way more expensive than Boston. The fried rice is $13, taste is ok. Service is quick.

I remember eating Ms. Hong's Dumplings on Church Street with her cart. She has the best Dumplings in the City. After eating these i would defiantly drive 2 hours just to have them. I wish she had more options though. The City of Burlington residents loved her so much they helped pitch in for her to get her own store. Now that says alot doesn't it? I also wish she would sell frozen Dumplings and even sell them in bulk. She could get rich selling them.

Best dumplings in this area! Ive been to almost every chinese restaurant in this area and this place blows every other restaurant out of the park! And I know its good chinese good because I am from New York and we love our chinese food.

TLDR; I'd like to know I'm being charged a fair price before I order and they couldn't give me a clear answer. Customer service felt bad, and left me feeling bad. The dumplings weren't rolled or sealed right. Pork filling was good but everything else about the dumplings weren't. ------------------------ I asked on the phone how much do 18 dumplings cost because it isn't clear how they charge. It's important to me because a difference of 2-3$ is significant. Charging me for 8+10 dumplings costs different from if they charged me 6+6+6 dumplings. But both are 18 dumplings. 17$ + 14$ = $31 Which is 10 dumplings plus 8 dumplings. $31 x 11% = $3.41 (Not sure why food sales tax is 11%) $31 + $3.41 = $34.41 = total I was charged 6 dumplings three times, I suppose since I got three different dumplings. The menu clearly states it's ANY # dumplings, so why do they make the decision if I am charged for a set of 6 three times vs if I'm charged a set of 10 plus a set of 8 for a total of 18? Another issue I have with this is that the online menu says 6 dumplings is $10 when on the phone and in the receipt I was charged $11 per 6 dumplings. This is a $3 difference. $11 x 3 = $33 $33 x 11% = $3.63 $33 + 3.63 = $36.63 = total VS $10 x 3 =$30 30 + $3.30 (sales tax) = $33.30 = total If I'm getting 18 dumplings the price shouldn't be different between how I get charged. Most customers would want to feel that if they bought more dumplings they would be charged less for buying a lot. Also, when I talked to 3 different people on the phone trying to get a straight answer, I didn't really feel as if they cared about my question. -------------------------------- On the topic of dumplings, I was pretty disappointed for nearly 1.8$ per dumplings. Sure, they're big, but the wrappers weren't rolled evenly, and they weren't folded closed properly. One half of my dumpling wrapper was about a cm thick! The fillings (I got veggie, and the cream cheese) are ok, except the pork, which was very good. *---------------* I kept in mind as I thought about this that she's training people right now, but this wasn't what I hoped for as a customer. It left me feeling sour about the experience.

Had to stop here as I trust DDD reviews with my life. I thought everything was above average in general, but the star here are the pork dumplings. If I came back, I'd just get those. Their cranberry dipping sauce is delicious too!

Very good dumplings. A but on the pricey side but they are twice the size of regular Chinese dumplings. Defiantly worth a try if you're in the area.

Sadly we came when they weren't open but called up and Hong was incredibly nice. Apologized profusely for not being able to accommodate us but asked us to return when they were open. She spoke like an auntie who wasn't expecting a surprise visit but still wanted to make sure you knew to call ahead next time and a great meal will be ready for your next visit. That's just what I'll do. Thank you Auntie. Next time.

These dumplings are so so so addictive and I need someone to inject their chili oil into my veins. I ordered some immediately to ship after I left. Also get the cold peanut noodles on a hot day. No regrets at all. What a cute little place with lights out food. I loved it!

My friend from New York follows Hong's instagram and wants to go here when she comes to town, so I checked it out. I ordered pork and leek dumplings and the scallion onion pancakes. Both of these dishes held up well as takeout. The dumplings were large with thick dumpling skin. They are definitely on the heartier side; they are pan-fried. My family really enjoyed the large pancake when I brought it home. There was some friendly fighting for who got to finish it. I would eat here again.

Yes, these are the best dumplings outside San Francisco. Perhaps because they are made in front of you while you stand in awe as a small platoon of busy people chop veggies, meat and everything else to make your dumplings. You see them plopping the dumplings in the oil. You see them taking them out. The aroma of scallions and pork and soy sauce permeates the air. The waiting lobby has a festive atmosphere where happy people chat and wait for their food and compare notes. Yummy. Simply yummy.

They post the incorrect hours of operation. It is hard to take a business seriously that can't inform customers of the times they are open. Showed up and it was closed when the posted hours said it should be open.

The choices are simple: 4 kinds of dumplings Pork, veggie, chicken and cheese, crab and cheese. They also have cold peanut noodles or fried rice and- not on the menu but recommended - scallion pancakes. My favorite dumpling were the crab and cream cheese. I recommend getting both their homemade sauces and mixing them. Very tasty and reasonably priced meal. Owner/chefs are very nice.

I caught the sign in the window for dumplings and immediately looked for a place to park. Turns out this is a restaurant that started off as a food cart, and thanks to the locals who invested (and now have their names on the wall), the little Chinese lady who ran the cart moved up to brick and mortar. I ordered 6 dumplings, because I expected them to be fairly small. What I got was easily double the portion I was expecting. That's not a bad thing, because i couldn't get enough. The dough is a little thicker than you might expect, but that's because it was just rolled out by hand. You could opt for a combo and get 4 dumplings and a side of fried rice or noodles. There's a handful of stools and a small counter in the window, otherwise you take it to go. Highly recommended.

Had a major craving for real Chinese dumplings while in Vermont. Went to college town and stumbled into this shop that originally had a stall on (well known) Church St back in 2007. I was not disappointed. Regulars would park on the corner and call in their orders. Today she had a shrimp dumpling special for only $2 each. Ordered two of everything and walked away paying less than $15. Hong noticed I had waited a bit and gave me a free dumpling. Great service and good location. I highly recommend this place. Note: I had noticed through my travels that you will find good affordable food near college towns across the U.S.

Hong's has a beautiful story and it's very inspiring that the owner went from a food cart to a restaurant. After hearing the story from our Uber driver and reading yelp reviews we decided to stop for dinner. Things do sell out so try to eat here earlier if possible. The noodles were sold out before 7. As I am a huge dumpling fan, I decided to try the combination of all dumplings and ordered 8. While I was hungry, the dumplings were HUGE and greasy as another person reported. I wasn't able to eat all 8 and ended up throwing out the veggie dumplings (they were my least favorite). The most memorable was actually the crab and cream cheese and I would order it again. In summary, Hongs is worth a visit. Just note that the dumplings are different than most - and not the same quality as good dumplings found in many large cities.

Great dumplings, the one disappointing thing was that they didn'tallow eating inside due to covid. Normally that may not be such an issue but it was pouring the hammers of hell when we bought our dumplings so standing outside the shop in the rain eating them was unpleasant. I guess I understand restrictions somewhat but other restaurants are open normally with no masks required so I don't really get why it was not allowed. Because we couldn't really eat much we only ordered the pork dumplings, which are pillowy and delicious.

One of Burlington's few food gems, this is the most authentic and closest thing you're going to get to Chinese food in Vermont. No these are not your Costco potstickers. They are handmade dumplings packed with rich, flavorful stuffings - chicken, crab/cheese, pork and more. The chicken is one of my favorites as it's nicely marinated and goes great with rice. The dumplings are big and filling but beware, you'll wanna keep eating if you're stuffed. Hong, the owner is almost always there at the restaurant and is incredibly sweet.

Definitely worth a stop. Very unassuming from the curb. Almost didn't go in! It's in a bettered street with no foot traffic and away from any reason other than dumplings to be there. It's also a little pricey for a dumpling house..... BUT... the food is pretty good. Stay with the dumplings though. The steamed buns just don't hold up to better places.

I got 4 dumplings and a bao. They were really good, but tasted bland without dipping sauce. Once dipped they were delicious. The dumplings are huge. Not the best tasting dumplings iv had but they are very good. And everything is made from scratch right infront of you as you order.

Truly such a delightful spot filled with friendly staff and outstanding food. I just wish they were closer to me so that I could visit all the time.

FRIGGIN YUM. I was wanting some s n a c k s and stopped in for a bite. I got the pork dumpling and veggie dumpling, doused them in the dumpling sauce and went to heaven. This is owned by good people and the food was delicious. Will definitely return.

4.25 stars. This place is pretty awesome. It's basically a former food truck that did so well in Burlington that it became a full fledged restaurant. The dumplings at Hong's are thick wrapped. While I generally like thin wrappers, these are exceptional for those who like this style of dumpling. the dumpling itself has a half moon shape and the stuffing is generous. I tried both the pork & chicken (stellar) and the crab & cheese (good). The pork & chicken goes great with some soy, vinegar, and chili oil; I'd pair the crab & cheese with their cranberry sauce. I should warn that these dumpling are quite plump. Four is a reasonable snack and eight is a pretty large meal. I really thought the lady that owns this place was very friendly. It seems she has built a great niche market here in Burlington. I'd be surprised if better dumplings exist in this city. It's definitely worth a try if you live here and also worth a stop if you want a good snack while visiting town.

Don't let the interior of this place fool you. It reminds me of a few dumpling spots in nyc Chinatown. These are some of THE BEST dumplings I've ever had. I forgot to take pictures because I was so excited. These are filled and cooked to order. I watched the owner spoon some filling into each wrapper, seal and fry them. I got one of each--pork, chicken, veggie, and crab/cream cheese. My favorite by far was the pork but they were all excellent. And very filling! Yes they are doughy but the flavor of the filling complements the chewiness very nicely. I'm going to miss this place, I hope I have the opportunity to return soon.

In college, I would walk down to church street on nice days to get a few dumplings with some friends from the infamous "dumpling lady" She is so kind, and so excited to feed you her cooking... it's honestly just refreshing. Years later, returning to Burlington and seeing she opened a shop made me so happy. She has a list of all the people who donated to help her open and it's really wholesome. The dumplings are more "greasy spoon" type dumplings than "traditional" I suppose, but they are so tasty and filled with flavor. I really like the cream cheese and crab ones, even though I don't typically like crab. Her sauces are really good too! =D I drove 4 hours to visit Burlington and hongs dumplings was the first thing in my mind

I just recently tripped Hongs for the first time and wasn't disappointed! There was an adorable Asian woman cranking out dumpling by the dozen in direct view of the register (that's how you know they're official). This is not just another one of the cookie cutter Chinese food spots in the area, it has charm! And the dumplings are great!

Bought pork and chicken 4 for $6.60 incl tax. Tastes like onion fry bread but is really greasy. Needs the sauces they have. Really filling. Not favorite place. Could have skipped it.

I'm so confused about the good reviews on this place. The food was terrible! The dumplings were leaden, heavy, greasy dough balls with tasteless filling. The "sesame noodles" were overcooked spaghetti drizzled with sesame oil. The cucumber salad was old, sliced cucumbers doused in what tasted like cheap bottled Italian dressing. We all felt sick, unhealthy and disappointed after this doughy meal. A friend said it depends on if the owner is there making the food. She definitely wasn't there the night we got our take out. Avoid this place.

Perfect quick snack, quick meal, quick service, easy menu, very affordable, great location, easily accessible street parking, fresh ingredients all handmade in front of you happening on a busy Saturday afternoon, can't ask for anything more! Lastly the owner Hong greeted her long term customers in between making dumplings all with a GREAT SMILE! What a breath of fresh air!

Heard about this place from triple D on the Food network. They have a very limited menu, so I was very disappointed when I went to pick up my order and there was no rice. We tried all flavors dumplings, But once we opened our order there NO dipping sauces. Our party of three all agreed, we only enjoyed the pork. I am not sure why Guy showcased this place. It was nothing like my experience at another featured spot, Bobs Clam Hut, that was truely off the chain.

Must try in Burlington. Pumped to see Hong finally have a year round location. Dumplings taste as good as in the cart. Wait time was manageable. Food was fresh and delicious, as always.

hong's dumplings are AMAZING! One of my favorite treats to get in Vermont. It was always such a joyous occasion to visit her cart and now it warms my heart to see her restaurant flourishing. Hong is a legend, there is truly nothing better to eat on a cold day than these chewy, juicy parcels made with love!

If you've never had Hongs dumplings they are a must have! They are huge with thick doughy skin and are loosely sealed, making them a dumpling experience unlike any other I've had. This may not be to some folks liking but they certainly hit the spot for me. For flavors you have classic pork/chicken and veggie, then a unique crab/cheese which is a sweet yet savory blend that includes carrots to hold the filling together. So worth stopping in to check out, she does to-go orders or dine in, but know there is only a standing bar for dine in. It's on the corner of Pine and Pearl though so you have a nice view to people watching.

After seeing all the reviews I had to try it out. The first time I saw her cart on church street there was a huge line and because I was in a rush there was no way. Unfortunately when I did have time, the cart wasn't there. I know there is a way to track that but I was acting on impulse. The line was of medium length when I finally got to try it. I was asking in others in line what they typically order. I love that you can choose one or more of each kind in your order. The filling an dough are pre-made but she forms the dumplings throughout the day. So to meet the demand of orders without getting overwhelmed, she quickly does a batch of dumplings for the pan (which takes about 5 minutes) and then plates your order with the finished dumplings on the side which are still very warm. I think I put garlic sauce in most of them. It was pretty delicious. Not "gorgeous" but I don't care...I'd rather have yummy food than pretty food any day. The 6 dumplings were quite filling and worth the money. I have to use use all my strength to resist getting more every time the cart is around.

My friends and I tried all four of their dumplings (pork, veggie, chicken & cheese, and crab & cream cheese) and they were the most scrumptious dumplings we've ever had! The pork and veggie were pretty predictable (and good), but the chicken & cheese dumplings tasted like taquitos and the crab & cream cheese ones were better than crab rangoons and actually contained a lot of crab meat!! The employees were super friendly, and I saw them stuff and cook each dumpling fresh in front of us. The dough of the dumplings are thick, so they're extremely filling. Four dumplings would have been enough for me. Overall, 11/10 would recommend! Best savory food I had in Burlington.

When I heard she opened a storefront, I was so pumped. Whenever I'd come to Burlington and miss her I'd be so upset. These dumplings are freaking amazing. There are no good words to describe them, they are just perfect and their own food group that can't be compared to other dumplings. Even if you don't like dumplings, you should try these because they are just so insanely good.

I love this place. Anytime I find myself in Burlington I always stop by. My favorite is the crab dumplings and I also grab some of that cranberry sauce. Seriously that sauce is great in a lot of things.

My partner and I split pork and veggie dumplings which were great! Would reccomend to anyone looking for comfort food. Not much space to eat on site, so it's a take out kind of place. Food is great and will definitely come back!

While in town a local friend suggested we try out Hong's for a quick lunch. We arrived with our 7 friends and each one of us were satisfied and blown away by how delicious the dumplings were. The chicken and cheese dumpling was hands down the best. The veggie one was our runner up next fave. The crab and cream cheese tasted like a crab Rangoon but better. The pork was very traditional and juicy. The peanut noodles weren't mind blowing but nevertheless still good. We can't wait to come into town and try them again, we bought Hong's cranberry sauce and chili oil as a souvenir and find ourselves using it on almost everything! This place is a must go if you're looking for a quick delicious bite to eat
