Best Honky-Tonks in Nashville Serve Live Country Music Nearly Nonstop | Eater Nashville

"With a prime corner location on Lower Broadway, Honky Tonk Central — another landmark under the same ownership as Tootsies and Rippy’s — stands out thanks to its eye-catching orange facade and three floors of windows open wide to the street, evoking the signature balconies of Bourbon Street. Bands take the stage daily on each floor, bartenders keep the cocktails and beer flowing, and the kitchen serves shareable apps like fried pickles and mozzarella wedges and mains like burgers and baskets of fried catfish." - Kellie Walton

Google
A fun place to watch some great live music, have a few beers and cocktails and just be around people who want to have fun. The bartenders are attentive. The atmosphere is fun and pretty chill.

Google
Honky Tonk Central was the first place I experienced on Broadway and damn what an introduction. Every floor had a different band playing which was pretty cool, and every floor was absolutely packed full of people. Was a great first spot to try. Second and third floor have outdoor balconies which give you an awesome view of the strip.

The nachos were so big you could’ve fed a family! Surrounded by a great band and fantastic & prompt service. Would recommend when in Nashville!

Google
We spent the most of our time at this bar vs the other bars on broadway. Not on purpose, we just always ended up there. They had some AMAZING bands. A couple of the bands I would pay to see in concert, yes they were that good. Our waitress, Jenna (we had here on 3 separate occasions) was freaking AMAZING. She was attentive, friendly, funny, fast and never got any part of our order wrong. If I owned a bar/restaurant I would hire her in a second. We will definitely go back again 🎉🤠⭐️💕🎵🎤🎸🥨🍔🍟🍻🍹

I had the time of my life in Nashville. I am definitely coming back. I loved listening to the many different bands.

Google
Amy the lower bartender has the best personality and always makes it a great time!

Google
We planned on bar hopping on Broadway, and HTC was our third stop of the night. Turns out, it was also our last stop. The music (Band Ana) was amazing, the girl at beer cart was fun and the vibes were high. We stayed until close and I'm still thinking of the great time we had! Would definitely return if I visit Nashville again!

Google
The whole street breathes crazy. The restaurants, bars and the live music scene in almost all the pubs is crazy. The vibe is electric and it charges you for a few fun filled hours. The staff is most of the restaurants were great and the crowd was pretty cool. They have small balconies that offer a great view of Broadway and the city. We had a pretty good time for a mid-week visit but since it was St. Patrick’s Day, we were greeted at every 5 stops.

Yelp
Checked this place out based on a Tik Tok suggestion & I was not disappointed. It was a little noisy on the second floor with the band and crazy bachelorette parties yet manageable to enjoy the balcony view. It was great to eat and get a nice tan at the same time. We ordered the Southern Style BBQ Sandwich and the Turkey Bacon Club sandwich with a couple of Hop Perfect IPAs. The bbq sandwich was super filling and I struggled to finish the sandwich without going into a food coma. The meat was tender and paired amazing with their French fries that had such a great seasoning. This was recommended by our server who checked in on us every 5 minutes. I loved the attention and the constant refill of my water cup.

Yelp
The band playing while we were there was great. Food is standard bar food, nothing special. Don't go here if you want to talk to anyone else while you eat... the music's too loud for that. The reason for the 2-star review: someone in our family has a gluten allergy, so they ordered the salad and requested no croutons due to a gluten allergy (and specifically said those words). The server marked everything down and when the food finally arrived, the salad was full of croutons. We asked them to prepare a new salad with no croutons. The next one came back with no croutons, but as they started to eat it, we noticed there were crouton crumbs underneath the lettuce. Our family member did not feel well the rest of the day. Not a good experience overall. If you're going to offer gluten free options and encourage patrons to tell you if they have allergies, please be more careful in prepping the food.

Yelp
We always make sure to visit this place when we come to town. The BBQ pulled pork is delicious, and the waitress was attentive and friendly. We really enjoy the country music and the atmosphere on the second floor.

Yelp
What's not to like here!!! 5 piece band... 10AM! Welcoming brutes at the door, friendly staff, easy to get a drink, music 9/10.. emphasis on country, duh, but a great rendition of Born To be Wild to round it out for the old rockers!! Huge clean windows for people watching and just an all American vibe! That's why we come to Nashville.. HELL YEAH
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Came in as our last stop Sunday night of thanksgiving weekend girls birthday trip. My two girlfriends were crashing fast but this place picked them right up! They aren't country fans and this was by far their favorite music of our trip! We danced our butts off! We also laughed our butts off! They made me wear a crown and sash and that was quite the attention getter from the young (barely 21) Eastern European boys hahahaha. I also had a Russian guy ask if I was getting married half a dozen times and finally I said yes tomorrow and the face he made was priceless. He was super drunk but that's to be expected on Broadway.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Dare I say the best bar on Broadway? Well, I said it. Their live music is undefeated, & they offer 3 levels of fun! Great place to have a drink & put in a song request. . . & see where the night takes you from there. We didn't have any food/bites. Drinks were good, nothing fancy, as a bar drink should be.

Yelp
12/18/23: Last night and we checked out Honky Tonk Central. Another great vibe and awesome band. People for the 2 visit to Nashville within a month's time always a good time to be had in any bar ventured into.

Yelp
Honky Tonk Central is one of the best places to sit, watch the people go by, while listening to good music and eating great food! The cod fish and chips was cooked perfectly! It was so good I ordered another entree! Yes, I really did! I think that's a first for me. The fish had the best flavor, texture, crunch and flakiness. I could not believe how delicious the fish was. Make sure and order it when you go. My service was excellent! The music was excellent! The venue is excellent! I highly recommend and they take reservations! It's very close to the Ryman, Bridgestone arena and on Broadway. There is valet parking so park and play all day and night for one price.
google avatar

Camelis N.

Yelp
Just another Honky Tonk. Decent music. Average priced drinks. Overall, a decent stop on your trip down broadway.
google avatar

Aditi S.

Yelp
Great live music and surprisingly good food! We came on a Friday around noon - the place was packed but we still managed to get a table. It's all open seating. We got the salmon BLT, buffalo wings, and caesar salad. The salmon BLT was very flavorful and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Definitely beat my bar food expectations. The band was playing country rock and they were great to listen to while drinking and eating. The service was really fast as well. All in all, a great honky tonk to visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Good service. Hot chicken was super hot but good. Good onion rings. Great music, view and balcony.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Went in the afternoon on a week day and was able to get pretty which service. Prices were reasonable. Service and food was good but not great. This is a 3.5 star place but rounding up to a 4 for the view from the top floor.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Great choice for an early morning with decent appetizers, great service, cold beer, and good music.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Such a blast!! Get a table and stay at it! You will lose it if you don't haha. Great live music + sports on the TVs. Fabulous food and wait staff. I always make sure to pop into Honky Tonk when in Nashville.
google avatar

Diana V.

Yelp
Turkey club was good. Served with a Pesto Aioli and fries. Turkey piled high. Service was great . Music was nonstop. Super great band.
google avatar

Marv B.

Yelp
This is a must stop so.many things to do and see. Plenty of entertainment, food , truck dispensaries. Bring your daisy dukes and cowboy boots, to dance the night away. I cant wait to go back

Holly M.

Yelp
We only went for an appetizer and a place to hear some music around noon. We ordered the nacho appetizer to split. The cost was $17 but the amount of food was worth the cost. They were basic bar nachos but no complaints. Our food came out before our drinks and plates but again no real complaints with this place.

Ethan H.

Yelp
Menu stared items that had gluten- free "options" for burgers and I believe the sandwiches. However, when my burger came out it just had no bun. I asked about it and they said that's what the gluten free option is, as if I couldn't have figured I can do that myself . If I would have known this I would have found somewhere else. Somewhere that actually had gluten free stuff.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
This place was packed when we arrived. We didn't stay here for long but the bartenders here were great. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and from here and it was delicious. Really helped set the mood for the rest of the night. We chose to leave shortly after because we weren't enjoying the the music m, but will definitely be making my way back on my next visit.
google avatar

Katherine R.

Yelp
Awesome experience! Our bartender and bus driver were so nice and funny! We drove all around town and had a fun pit stop at a huge bar where we were able to use the bathroom and take a shot! The honky tonk location is great too. They have lots of Instagram backdrops for groups to take pictures, lounge areas and a store for drunk shopping, which is fun (but dangerous!)
google avatar

Dede C.

Yelp
We stopped in here for a drink, like most people who obviously are going up and down the honky-tonk highway. I give this place a decent rating because the music was good and the drinks were fair as far as size. The atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect in a little mosh pit in front of the band, which was great to watch. I would definitely make this one of my stops in the Honky Tonk Highway
google avatar

Mitch K.

Yelp
Come for the music, have food if you want but don't expect anything special. It was fun to check it out but it wasn't anything special.
google avatar

Steve E.

Yelp
Food was great. Large portions. Service was fast and friendly. The bar was very fun and music was awesome! My first stop in Nashville was a great stop.
google avatar

Scott A.

Yelp
Had some time to kill on a Tuesday afternoon and headed that way at 11:30 AM....Wow, place was packed wall to wall w/ a live band playing country/Southern rock.....the beers were not cheap (9 or 10 a pop), but this is just a cool place to people watch and soak in the Nashville strip. Tip: You can take a bus w/in 2 blocks of this place from the airport for under $3. Save your Uber money and buy a couple extra cold ones.
google avatar

KayAnna A.

Yelp
Another fun bar in downtown! Each floor has its own live music, bar, and different vibes. Very easy to switch back and forth between floors. The outside views are pretty cool from their balconies as well. Loved starting on the top floor and working our way down each night. Really easy to get drinks at the bar and be able to make it to the dance floor right after.
google avatar

Morgan R.

Yelp
This is one of many multi-story bars in Nashville's central night-life district. On this warm October afternoon (in the high 60s), the floor-to-ceiling windows were all open, and the people watching out of the balconies was great. There were three different bands playing, one on each floor, with the one on the ground floor being very popular, and the one on the third floor being quite good, but playing rock from 1970s (my taste, but less popular than the R&B on the ground and 2nd floors). The local bottled IPAs were interesting and fine. The mixed drink (a Honky Tonk variation on a Moscow Mule) was weak and small. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken was quite good when it eventually arrived after about 20-minutes. Our server seemed more interested in checking on the cute girl working the bar than in checking up on his patrons. All-in-all, nothing wrong with this place, and it probably rocks out on Friday nights ... but for a late-fall Monday afternoon, I would describe it as one of many similar joints on the strip, and not exceptional.
google avatar

Mayuri A.

Yelp
This place was sooooo much fun. It was jam packed but that added to the vibe. Every floor had a different theme of live music. Our favorite was the second floor. The band was playing 90s rock and metal classics and we were left awestruck. They covered everything from Creed to Metallica to Linkin Park. They were taking in requests as well. When they played System of a Down, the crowded started a mosh pit right inside a bar. It was so much fun! Definitely the best part of my Nashville trip!

Rose S.

Yelp
DO NOT GO LATE NIGHT THE BRUNETTE IS WORKING SHE WILL ROB YOU. Literally payed 100 dollars for shots an she wouldn't let us drink them cause she got 2 orders wrong. Had security walk us out an left our shots on the counter. Worst attitude horrible service. Made us look crazy cause we tried to tell her 2 of the shots weren't tequila. Don't play yourself
google avatar

Yelp
On Broadway, there are several opportunities to go into bars, and listen to music. This one has always been our favorite. They have great food, great service, and wide variety of great bands, one of our favorite spots when we go to Nashville.
google avatar

Melissa F.

Yelp
I will preface this is your classic Broadway - Nashville crazy spot. You're not going to get the best food in Nashville or the best service (they're always slammed), but you're going to get great bands & an awesome experience. I'd recommend coming and posting up early. It gets packed super quickly so if you're someone who likes a spot to sit, come early for sure. From here, you could spend a round to 6 hours. The bands rotate often and there's a good spread of styles covered. I will say this is a place you go for the experience for sure.
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Didn't try the food so cannot comment but the ambiance, the bands, were fabulous and true Nashville and the drinks unlike most places on Broadway Street in Downtown Nashville were a little more reasonably priced!
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
Classic Honky Tonk in the center of downtown Nashville, right on Broadway. There are 3 floors, each featuring a different band. We visited several times during our long weekend. The music was mostly country and sometimes rock. As one of the most iconic bars in the area, it's worth a stop. Service was slow, but it's also one of the busiest bars on Broadway. Bouncers were friendly. We didn't order food, so I can't comment on that.

Erica I.

Yelp
The live bad was amazing especially the fiddler. It was a down right party going on. The staff was as awesome.

Clayton B.

Yelp
The bouncer outside was an absolute tool. They did not call last call when we left with open beers and a friend inside and would not let us in even when we were concerned about her. I eventually had to get my hand crushed in a door while the outside bouncer flirted with girls and they reluctantly went and got her.

Devan C.

Yelp
Do NOT go here. The security guard would not let us back in after buying drinks but did not inform us that would we wouldn't be let back in because it "closed". While we were out side our friend got groped and the security guard did not care and claimed he was the security manager outside. All the while he was allowing people leave the bar with drinks.
google avatar

Minly L.

Yelp
It's fun and wild at Honky Tonk Central. A grand time! Drinks are a bit of a miss but with the music, dancing and vibes, I guess it make up for it. If I did come back to Nashville, I would not be upset if I saw Honky Tonk Central on the itinerary.
google avatar

drew w.

Yelp
Great fun bar with amazing views, affordable prices for appetizers. Lots of seating available with attentive waitresses
google avatar

Cammy L.

Yelp
Hubby and I have been wanting to try this place when we visit Nashville and I am happy to say it did not disappoint!! I'm a southern gal and I know a good Honky Tonk when I see one, and this place is worth a visit. Go for the music, dancing and cold beers, stay for the friendly, southern service and much better than expected food!!
google avatar

Lou G.

Yelp
A perfect Nashville dive! Large bar with great bands. Bartenders were efficient and the food was great! Menu was limited as you might expect from a dive but the kitchen knows their stuff. We ventured in about 8 pm and got seats at the bar. By 9pm the place was packed. We never waited for service as their was plenty of help. The bands rocked the place! All ages enjoyed the night. Although we didn't venture upstairs there were 2 more floors of bars. Bathrooms were clean. A must visit for you dive bar lovers
google avatar

Anne A.

Yelp
I have patience so I am able to give them 4 stars. Considering it was the 4th of July and it was packed...and they seemed understaffed, it was all good. The lady pictured singing cleaned our table as we sat down. We thought she was a manager but nope... she was just absolutely sweet so we bought her a drink. The food was okay... the mesquite wings was too spicy for our young man. It did take about 45 minutes or so for the order to come out. Good thing there was entertainment or my boyfriend would have walked out.
google avatar

april l.

Yelp
Fun on every floor!! Service was good. Music was LOUD! Great place to grab drinks and listen to live music. They ran out of a couple different drinks that were listed so have a backup on what you want to order.

Cate H.

Yelp
It's rare for me to write a review, but after my experience at Honky Tonk Central, I knew I must. My friends and I had an awesome time last night, thanks to the hospitality provided by Teal. Teal was a kind, helpful and experienced bartender on the second floor, and her friendliness made our night. If you get the chance to go, try her favorite drink, "The Teal Tea." I hope everyone gets to meet Teal at least once in their lifetime. Thank you, Teal, for making last night memorable.

Yelp
We were in town visiting from Vegas and this was one of the first bars we wandered into. The music was loud and roaring and it was a Thursday afternoon. We had to go in and check it out. As soon as we walked in, there was a drink stand taking cash payments which was great. We got a couple of whiteclaws and moved further back to enjoy the live music. There was a crowd of people on the dance floor and lots of people sitting at tables and drinking and singing along. We found a spot by the bar and sat and enjoyed the music for a bit. We both felt so spoiled with all the live music we got to see for free (no cover charge sayyy whaaaat). It was incredible! The band played whatever you wanted if you gave them a $20 and then played some crowd pleasers too. The vibe in here was great! People of all ages just coming together to enjoy live music. I'd definitely wander back into this bar on the corner for sure. Thanks for being our first bar to hit up on Broadway!
google avatar

Bailey H.

Yelp
Great vibes!! December 22 right before Christmas at 2am and it was so fun! I think the band playing was double shot and they played great music!
google avatar

Carlos N.

Yelp
Fun Joint to experience a taste of downtown Nashville - Good music, fun vibe and great service!
google avatar

Rosi C.

Yelp
The YeeHaw and Leah's Key Lime Hollers (drinks) are so good. Fun place with good live music!
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
Crowded and the music wasn't good (the singers were...not good...), but they play crowd pleasers and the energy is probably just what you need it to be on a night out. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here, but I guess I wouldn't avoid it either. It leaves pretty much no impression for me.
google avatar

Haley B.

Yelp
I have to post a review for this bar specifically to thank the security working! My friend and I came here near the end of our evening and sat down at a table. We ordered nachos, which for bar food was delicious! A random man we didn't know sat down at our table and was making us extremely uncomfortable. Security could tell and asked us if we knew him and had him removed from our table and helped him find his friends. Thanks for looking out for us!

JANE B.

Yelp
Awesome band BUT bar bartender was rude. Charged us $1 for a fricken plastic cup. One beer and one cocktail (size of shot glass ) $23. So many other places to choose from.
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
Fun spot! Great live music and good vibes. We ordered fried pickles too and they were bomb!!
