The 28 Essential Quebec City Restaurants

"The yakitori experts behind Honō Izakaya (also worth checking out) run this ambitious ramen-centric restaurant. The cozy, stylish, quite elegant noodle joint gives great attention to broths made from scratch and vegetables sourced from a single farm. Opt for the tori paitan with an especially rich, comforting chicken broth." - Allison Van Rassel

We arrived with a reservation and were promptly seated. The dining room is small and intimate. We sat at the long, high table. The service was a little slow but the server was very kind and patient, taking time to explain dishes to us and consider our dietary restrictions. We ordered several ramens and all were excellent. The broths were velvety and flavorful and the accompanying proteins with each bowl were well prepared and on point in terms of texture and flavor. Previous reviewers had mentioned the ramen being overly salty but I didn't not notice this aspect until maybe I was down to the dregs of my bowl with no other toppings left to consume.

THE BEST SHOYU RAMEN I’VE HAD OUTSIDE OF JAPAN👏🙌. I’ve been to Japan 12 times and I love ramen. I came to Hono without any high expectation since it’s ramen shop in Quebec City and made by Quebecer. The ramen egg was very well prepared I had first spoon of broth and my eyes were widely open cuz the broth was just perfect like I had in Japan. I tried the ramen egg and was very well marinated love the flavour. The noodle was very smooth and firm. The chasiu was very tasty but a bit too soft I like it a bit firmer. My other friends also loved their meals. ARIANNE( waitress/owner) was very welcome and professional. Thank you very much. It was the most surprise I’ve been to Québec. 🙏

The 𝙎𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙤 𝙔𝙪𝙯𝙪 𝙎𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙮 was an absolute highlight—it’s a refreshing, icy slushy with a unique yuzu flavor and a fun alcohol twist. 💯 Recommend!!🤌🏻 It’s the perfect drink if you’re looking for something different and refreshing! 🍺✨✨ We also tried the 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙮𝙪 𝙍𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣, which was good, though not as memorable as the slushy. Still, it’s a solid choice if you’re craving ramen. What really made the experience special was the service. The staff were so kind and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The cozy, bar-like atmosphere added to the charm, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed, enjoyable night out. If you’re in the QUEBEC area, I highly recommend giving it a try! Arguably the best ramen I’ve had. The flavors were amazing and the noodles were great. Seemed homemade. The egg was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. Service was very good. There were some issues with us being charged for a few things we didn’t get-we each ordered an extra egg, but only got a half egg (charged for a whole) and I ordered a bottled beer and got a draft beer at an extra $2. No issues with correcting the price with the waitress, but worth noting. I would definitely come back here as the food was excellent.

Probably the best bowl of ramen I've ever eaten. The Sapporo and yuzu slushie is also incredible, you have to try it.

Fun and trendy place. Good food. Good service. I had the shio ramen and the pork was a bit dry. Not a deal breaker. The broth was rich without being heavy.

I visited with two friends on the 9th of November 2022 in the evening. I had already tried Hono Izakaya previously and adored my experience. This place is like a sister restaurant directly connected to each other. The welcoming was great as well as the service throughout. I learned that you can only reserve online. I recommend doing so to guarantee a spot. The restaurant was mostly full. The restaurant has a few really unique coktails. I really liked the Yu-Gin (home made ingredients). We shared a karaage together as an entrée. The chicken was crispy and the sauce nice and zesty. For my main dish, I got the miso ramen with extra chashu, egg and spicy sauce. The spicy sauce on the side is perfect to dip food in. The broth was really creamy and had excellent depth to it. Though I felt a light granular feel to it. The eggs are perfectly marinated and the egg yolk deserves a moment of appreciation. The meat in the ramen melted literally in my mouth. Make sure to eat the meat first. I also got a Highball Dewar's, something that Japanese are quite fond of. I preferred the Yu-Gin personally due to its light sweetness. I also got a Japanese cheese cake that I found lacking in the cheese department, but learned from our server, a kind tall blond haired and beautifully tattooed woman, that this was the way that Japanese made this type of cheese cake. I was happy to try it in the end. We stayed about 3 hours in the restaurant. I will definitely return to try out the other types of broths. All in all, it was an amazing night with great company and a restaurant that gave off a welcoming, quiet ,and cozy atmosphere. //////// 2023-01-20 at 5:00 PM My second visit went equally marvelously. I brought a great friend that we often make home made ramen meals before watching a good movie. I tried the tonkotsu daily dish and again added two portions of meat, two eggs and spicy sauce on the side. The beefy broth was extra rich and quite enticing. Not as exquisite as the miso broth, but a close second. That's in addition to the Sapporo with ginger ale I barely finished due to sheer quantity (is was really refreshing, bit the "small bock" is enough to quench most thirsts. My friend particularly loved the edamame. They were warm, their skin more tender than usual and seasoned to perfection. He enjoyed the karaage, but feels that another restaurant on St-Joseph has an edge over Hono Ramen. The woman that welcomed us at the entrance is the same that served me last time. She recognized within an instant and was just as kind as the first time. Our waitress that had lovely transparent manicured nails honored us with her attention to detail and kindness throughout. Another five star experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 2025-02-19 I returned with my friend Simon to celebrate the completion of the ink work for his next graphic novel. Emmanuelle served us wonderfully. Sapporo buck with ginger Yuzu, and Yuzu slush was refreshingly good. Our karaage chicken, ramen, and chocolate treat were exquisite. Five stars as usual.

The restaurant was quite full for a Monday night. The slushees, though initially I liked the flavours, were too sweet. Pro: The pork gyoza were absolutely delicious in every way. I would go back for that and a beer with pleasure. The most impressive thing about the experience was our waitress’s incredible hair. Other: I got the chicken teriyaki ramen - the chicken did not taste like teriyaki at all and the broth was not agreeable to me. I felt for the price there was not enough going on. The main issue though is: After waiting for an hour for any of the food to come out, I was taken aback that they would charge for hot sauce to add to the flavourless broth. I test the quality of any restaurant by how dried out my mouth is afterward; and here it was patched, so yes too much salt. I liked the place and I guess they are understaffed. But I was so annoyed by how long I had been waiting for the food that I did not take pleasure in eating it. Don’t understand the Michelin rating. Maybe the miso is really good.

Yelp
We visited Hono Ramen on a Tuesday evening in the summer with no reservations. The staff quickly seated us and were super friendly. We ordered miso ramen and Tori Paitan ramen with a side order of homemade kimchi. To our disappointment, the ramen did not meet our expectations. The broth was salty but not rich and savoury. The kimchi was just ok. We eat ramen quite frequently at other establishments, and this place was not up to par. The restaurant was dimly lit and provided a cozy atmosphere. Good for a date night but not so good for ramen meal.

Yelp
This place is cute and close to everything in saint roche. Unfortunately the ramen is not that good. The noodles are good and fresh but for good ramen you need excellent broth and the broth here was below sub par. Also there wasn't much meat in the ramen so that is a little disappointing. If they can figure out a good broth and be more gerenrous with meat this place may recover.
