A Guide to the Columbia River Gorge, the Pacific Northwest’s Best Kept Secret | Condé Nast Traveler

"Serving as a stylish hybrid in downtown Hood River, Common House functions as a wine bar, bottle shop, and pop-up kitchen space where events like Detroit-style pizza nights and visiting chefs bring lively, rotating food programming." - Jessica Chapel

The Best Restaurants and Bars in the Columbia River Gorge | Eater Portland

"The Hood River Common House is a bright, airy spot to grab a drink and gather with friends. A reclaimed convenience store cooler is packed full of libations from near and far: a Gorge-brewed Kings & Daughters soft IPA next to a Czech Pilsner, a Gorge-made cider next to an English cider. Likewise, the wine racks are full of bottles imported from places like the Rhône region of France, as well as a nice selection of regional wines. Those who want to cool down on a hot day can grab a “sloshy pop,” a popsicle-like invention where strawberries mingle in with rosé and citrus. Depending on the day you visit, you’ll also find pop-up dining options from area chefs." - Molly Allen

We hosted our rehearsal dinner & wedding welcome event here on 8/16 and it was the perfect space! The rehearsal dinner was an intimate group, catered buffet style by Four and Twenty Blackbirds and then we opened up the space to our remaining wedding guests to drink and mingle. First and foremost, the hospitality was unmatched. Collin and Paige were incredible behind the bar and such a delight to share the evening with. Even with a full house of ~100 people, they kept the drinks flowing and I never saw a line or wait to be served. The drink selection was awesome, everyone raved about the variety and quality. Adrienne behind the scenes was so easy to communicate with and plan our event in the months prior. And finally, the space itself -- We loved the eclectic feel of the decor and the open format allowed guests to flow inside and out, stand and chat or lounge comfortably in one of the seating areas or booths. The proximity to hotels and downtown attractions made it easy for our guests to get to and from. We will hold this space dear for years to come, and can't wait to visit in the future! Thank you Hood River Common House team!!!

Nice spot. Parking can run hot and cold. Excellent shop, well taken care of. Slim on staffing, adequate to the task. Fewer food offerings than some other places, but nothing to knock them on. It was all excellent. Family friendly. Plenty of 4 tops can easily be 6, or taller tables for couples.

Mia did a perfect job of picking out a few bottles upon my special requests. What a beautiful shop with a gorgeous selection. Extra awesome experience for smiling when I asked if my dog could come in with me for the shopping experience! Thank you HRCH! I’ll be back so soon. 😍🫶🍷

Google
So disappointing. Went in for a couple of glasses of wine. Only two choices for white one from South Africa and the other from France! I wanted a glass of wine from any local vineyard! When we first walked in I thought it was a thrift store with the junky toys at the entrance. We were the only guests! How are they making wages? Won’t be back. I doubt they will be in business

I have generally enjoyed this place, but just had a terrible experience. When I asked for a Spanish style Vermouth; which I’ve had before and LOVE. He said they may have an old bottle in the back but don’t generally serve it. I then asked for an amaro, he tried to correct me in the pronunciation, which he was wrong, and said no they’re out of that. I asked for a Chianti, and if he could show me some other Italian wines. He walked close to the bottles and said yeah we don’t have any bottles today. And then directed me to maybe another place in town? Seemed 100% disinterested in making a sale. I may not ever go back.

Google
Beer is carefully selected, atmosphere is bright and inviting, when they have food, it is special. Besides that, it is just a chill space to meet friends and hang out, without feeling like your in a local dive. Although, it is locally owned and represents the community.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. The common house is a Lovely new little upscale trendy but comfortable feeling joint that just screams Hood River! Here you'll find Quality wines by bottle or glass and rotating beer taps. Truly a great deal if you hit happy hour mid week. This is a drinks only spot where you can belly up to the bar and there is a couple tables inside and outdoor tables as well. Snacks are extremely limited, however, the olives were amazing so do order those with your wine! Cheers!

Yelp
We hosted our pre-wedding get together at Hood River Common House and it couldn't have been more perfect for our crowd of Wisconsinites and Oregonians. Everyone loved the welcoming atmosphere - there's plenty of standing space and cozy seating nooks. The beer and wine selection is unique and high quality. Thank you Josh and Adrienne for making our night so fun and effortless!!

Yelp
So fun! Sweet location and yummy cocktails. On edge of downtown, fun shop upstairs (Ruddy Duck) Walking distance to downtown shopping as well. Lovely bartenders, friendly casual atmosphere.

Yelp
The Common House has been such a wonderful addition to Hood River. They have a huge selection of old and new world wines, beers and ciders from all over. They even serve ice cream from Mike's and boozy popsicles! The drinks on tap are carefully selected and never disappoint! The atmosphere is hip, warm and inviting, the staff is always friendly, and the location in downtown is great. There is seating inside and outside. Clearly I couldn't recommend it more!

Yelp
Great drink selection. Plenty of seating and a nice ambiance. The bartender was a captivating conversationalist. They gave us plenty of recommendations for things to do and see from a local perspective. All around excellent experience!

Yelp
CH is amazing! Atmosphere is spot on for downtown Hood River. Perfect location and inviting seating outside and in. Super dog friendly. The beer and cider selections rotate when a keg is done so there is always something new and different to try. I love Rose' and every selection of Rose' has always been delicious. They also offer cans of Swift Cider, the Marionberry Cider is crazy good. A favorite spot for locals like ourselves so definitely put CH on your list to stop by. This new place is a gem of a spot for sipping a cold beverage, enjoying beautiful weather and just hanging out!

Yelp
This was our fav. "Beverage" stop while we were in Hood River. One of the owners was tending the bar by himself and he was so friendly. He pretty much gave us a sample of every wine in the cooler and they had the perfect selection!! They had wine from Oregon, but also featured different areas of the world which we enjoyed. They had a heck of a cooler of beer and a solid tap selection. He let us know that it was a family owned business that just opened ... he really loved beer and his wife loved wine, so they worked together to collaborate. They had a pretty big selection of wine to go as well. The atmosphere inside and out were great - the spot was super cute and cozy! Plenty of comfortable seating / bar seating / outdoor seating. They also play great tunes! This was a very family friendly stop as well - they had root beer and other N/A selections. He also gave other families some snacks to hold their children over :). They didnt have food on the menu and you could tell they had just opened up - but this place is going to be a gem!! If you're in Hood River, stop by this place and support them. They are doing a good thing!

Yelp
The Common House has the best wine selection in the city, a very friendly and helpful staff and a hip modern atmosphere. Thank you for opening in Hood River! Your community appreciates this kind of quality.

Yelp
DOG FRIENDLY!! Went there yesterday- we decided to bring our little fluff dog with us for a trip to Hood River and then on to Mt. Hood for some sightseeing with an out of town friend. Couldn't leave the dog in the car- too cold but couldn't find a dog friendly place inside to eat. Hood River Common House to the rescue! They allowed us to bring food in from outside and bring the dog as well- soo grateful for their canine hospitality! We will keep this place in mind going forward! Oh- and really good beer!

Yelp
Great wine selection and very nice people. The noise level was completely unbearable.
