"In 1934, before the craft breweries and wineries took over the area, Hood River Distillers was using apples and pears left over from harvest for fruit brandies and liqueurs. It still does so today, pouring and selling them alongside the gins, vodkas, whiskeys, and Nordic schnapps made by the different distilleries that form the Hood River Distillers family. Sip through flights of the different distillates or try them in mini-cocktails at the distillery’s downtown tasting room." - Zoe Baillargeon, Molly Allen

I'm highly impressed with this distillery and the variety of spirits & mixers offered. I sampled a couple of whiskeys and went home with a bottle of vanilla cinnamon whiskey. They offer up to 5 sample tastes of any spirit for $2 each. They also have delicious "mini" cocktails available. Its a must try if you're in the Hood River area.

We stumbled upon this place completely randomly. Such a cool vibe and the staff was so friendly. The bank vault is very cool and has some interesting history. We had their flights of spirits and mini cocktails. They have such a huge variety of spirits and some cool merchandise. They even give you little cards so you can make your own cocktails at home. We actually purchased several bottles of spirits for our home cocktail bar. Now that we know this place exists, we will stop by anytime we drive through.

Very nice tasting room with a wide selection of spirits and cocktails (or mocktails for the driver). $2 per sample (0.5 oz), $3 per mini cocktail, and $6 for a full sized mocktails. All of it was delicious. Friendly and knowledgeable staff complete the experience. We tried the timberland vodka (good), clear creek pear brandy (excellent), old delicious bourbon barreled apple brandy (good), trail's end Oregon oak finished bourbon 10 year (very good), McCarthy's single barrel select (cask strength - very peaty but very good/smooth), McCarthy's Oregon single malt whiskey 6 year (very good) and big gin (excellent). Someone traveling with us is very well versed (works in industry) and they were impressed. Also ordered the strawberry lemonade and it was delicious.

5 samples of spirits or cocktails per person max at a few dollars each. Knowledgeable staff. The bourbons run hot. The pear brandy is sublime. Great place to shop to restock your home bar with local spirits & accoutrement.

What a cool space! We stopped by on Halloween and tried a few of the $4 mini cocktails. All were absolutely delicious. The bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly too.

Our stop at HRD was one of our trip highlights. Located off Oak St in Hood River, they were super accommodating for our party of six when we dropped by for a tasting without a reservation! You choose 5 items from their menu per tasting - they have a variety of spirits or you can choose mini cocktails off their seasonal cocktail menu - the mini cocktails are a must try because they are so creative! Our server did an amazing job explaining the different types of spirits, sharing the history of the distillery and giving mixed drink suggestions for each. She was extremely knowledgeable about the products she was serving us. Needless to say, we left with souvenirs. Favs were Ullr, Yazi and some Portland Syrups. Those syrups are also amazing!

Google
Friendly staff with monthly creative cocktail tasting! Stop in to grab a bottle of your favorite spirits or try something new! I love that they carry The Bitter Housewife cocktail bitters and edible glitter so you can re-create your favorite drinks at home! Tastings are just $3! We tried City of Roses & Ulle's Arrow. So good!

Google
Absolutely loved the vibe of this place. The bartenders are knowledgeable about the flavor profiles and make great suggestions. It was so fun to taste so many different flavors, price ranges and types of spirits. Definitely a "must do" if you're in Hood River and enjoy adult beverages!

Yelp
This is a fun place to stop amidst your meandering through Hood River's shops. You can either browse the distillery's many mixers and liquor options, or have a unique tasting experience. They offer you up to four tastes (I believe it's four) for $2 each of the liquors they sell or up to five samples of craft cocktails made with their liquor and mixers for $3 each. The cocktails are well-balanced and delicious! The ambiance of the place feels like a 1920s-era venue, complete with vault room in the back. It's a fun experience!

Yelp
This place is awesome! We tried different kinds of spirits and you can also try them in mini cocktails. Such a large variety! We walked away with 4 different kinds of spirits and I so want to go back. The place is comfortable and the staff are super nice. They also have a small museum like room that shows some pretty cool stuff and you can buy all kinds of bar stuff along with there spirits.

Yelp
Hood River Distillers are masters of producing fine spirits. The 10-year aged bourbon is as good as any you'll find at the finest Kentucky distilleries. The gin also impressed. Helpful and pleasant staff in a cozy tasting area with great ambiance. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Finally made it to HRD. What an awesome experience. We were greeted upon arrival by Rose. Rose was very friendly, attentive and fun to talk with. We all enjoyed a variety of spirits that were extremely tasty. Atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Kudos to Rose for her stellar customer service. We ended up purchasing four bottles for the road. This will definitely be on our to do list anytime we're in the area. Thanks again for a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Loved my visit! I love the assortment of beverages, especially the sample mixers. Their menu has a good flow and is easy to follow. The service is awesome. Especially because they have knowledge of the business model and the beverage's. I would highly recommend a visit!

Yelp
Keep politics out of business Nice clean store with friendly staff. Did some booze tasting in part of this old bank building. The safe door is awesome with a small intimate room inside. Once seated I noticed the BLM support paper in the window. Keeping it short and sweet, I believe all lives matter, and disagree with the BLM movement and policies. Because of this we did not purchase any product. It kind of ruined the experience for us. Keep your opinions private or you may lose business. I don't want our money going to causes we don't agree with. Again, nice place.

Yelp
This is a very fun experience to add to your adventure in Hood River. They make many different spirits and you can have 5 one ounce samples. You may choose to taste them straight or in very creative small cocktails, that change monthly and with the seasons. Our host Lauren was very friendly and professional in a calming way that put you right at ease. I definitely recommend this place for a fun afternoon in Hood River !

Yelp
Very friendly staff who know their products very well well enough to answer my detailed questions of what is put in their liqueurs. Nice atmosphere going on in a old 1910ish bank They have it very well set up for COVID distance first time here. Very well made drinks and good prices for the tasting

Yelp
So much fun packed into a cozy location! Excellent variety of spirits to accommodate a group of friends. Heidi welcomed us as family and really knew her product!

Yelp
This is a fun tasting room with options for everyone in your group. The mini cocktails vary greatly in amount but the regular liquor tastings are standard. The staff seem to enjoy what they are doing but were not always as attentive as one would hope given the number of clients. Would give them another try next time we are in Hood River.

Yelp
A girl frand and I came in last week on a Tuesday afternoon. Naturally, we were the only ones there (it's 5 o'clock somewhere)! We had just got onto the freeway to head back home when she realized Hood River Distillers existed! So I took the first exit I could off the freeway and started heading toward HR Distillers. The reason we turned back, the Pear Brandy and the Douglas Fir Brandy. *cue angelic choir* The owner was super friendly and informative! 2 oz. tastings is $2 each. We tasted the Pear and the Douglas Fir. Omg. I'm really not into liquor or alcohol in general but these were fantastic! The owner said they call the Douglas Fir brandy "Oregon in a bottle". I can attest to this! It had a lovely, cozy, woody/earthy finish. The pear one had a finish reminiscent of that fresh pear skin grit (in a GOOD way), like you were taking a real bite of a pear. The smell and flavor threw me into autumntime. Both I'd consider good sipping brandys. The owner also, shared some delicious cocktail ideas that could be made with the Doug Fir and Pear brandy!

Yelp
Hood River Distillers, founded in 1934, opened this tasting room in downtown HR in July 2015. Downtown Hood River adds something unique to the selection of wine tasting spots with the Hood River Distillers Tasting Room. They've got brands they produce and bottle - Sinfire Cinnamon Whiskey, Yazi Ginger Vodka - as well as Pendleton Whiskey, distilled in Canada and finished here in Hood River. Their brand of mixers, including one for Old Fashioned, are also for sale here, along with hats and glassware. The lighting is dark and cool, and behind the bar knowledgeable staff will provide tastes and info.

Yelp
Interesting tasting room in Hood River. Nice person who served us our tastings. I personally didn't care at all for any of their flavored liquors. I didn't find them refined like any of the high end liquors and cordials that are readily available. And they aren't inexpensive. I just didn't like them.

Yelp
This is a must see and try place. It is simultaneously comfortable and elegant. The beverages are wonderful. I could enjoy this place every single day. The value is unbeatable.

Yelp
So cool. It's in an old bank with the vault door still in place. Try the pear liqueur, really great. Wonderful tasting room with very knowledgeable staff. Worth the trip!!!

Yelp
They have a lot of products, and some very tasty ones - especially their single-varietal grappa (you have to try the grappa of muscat! It is super floral, not at all harsh like grappa usually is). It's $2 for each taste, max of 5 per person - they also have a line of super cheap liqueurs that are free to taste (but by state law, you can still only taste 5 per person total, even the liqueurs). Tasting is comped with purchase of any full bottle, and at least when I was there, that was any bottle, even a bottle of a cheap liqueurs. Their liqueurs definitely taste cheap, but not *bad* cheap, so basically, you can buy a great liqueur for ~10$ and get a free tasting. I strongly recommend doing it how I did it: bring your wife, have her "taste" the liqueurs (and mooch off her tasting), so you can try 5 of their higher-end products and also 5 liqueurs, so you know which liqueur you like the most. (I went with the hazelnut, perfect for pouring in coffee or over ice cream. Would've gone with the triple sec, if I hadn't, annoyingly, just bought a worse triple sec for more money a couple weeks earlier. I also bought a couple minis, but those don't count towards the comped tasting no matter how many you buy.)

Yelp
Excellent tasting room. Girl was very knowledgeable and friendly. The gin is something I've never experienced before. Highly recommend trying it. They also have a mini museum with a documentary playing in the background.

Jeni H.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here! We really had no idea what time it was when we arrived and it ended up being 15 minutes until closing. The staff insisted we had plenty of time and didn't rush us so they could close up. They were very knowledgeable about their products and gave us a few extra tastes. We left with a bottle of the dry hopped whiskey and coffee liqueur. Can't wait to come back next time in town!

Summer S.

Yelp
If you're looking for whiskey and bourbon that burns your lips and pallet off this is the place. The room itself is nice and the servers are lovely, but the products are no bueno.

Monica D.

Yelp
I remembered the liquor as being awful from college and the tasting room had high quality drinks. The bar tender was really nice. Thanks Heidi!

Giselle H.

Yelp
I visited here in April, it was my first time to a distillery. Had a blast. Definitely will return!

Yelp
This place was so amazing and relaxing! It is a must stop for any Hood River tourist or local who has never visited! The history behind the spirits is amazing and fun to take in! Heidi, our "Tour Guide" was so informative and professional! Loved our relaxing time and learning about each of the spirits! Looking forward to going again tomorrow for the book signing and picking up a bottle of one of our favorites on the taste tour! Thank you Hood River!

Yelp
I couldn't find any reviews or comments about Monarch 80 proof vodka anywhere on the internet. How could such a rich and delicate treat go unnoticed everywhere except Nome Alaska? It is the vodka of choice here. Most other vodkas are forsaken, regardless of the price. Out on the cold frozen tundra, few things have greater value than a shot of "red cap" (the familiar name for Monarch 80 proof Vodka around here).
