18 Best Myrtle Beach Restaurants to Try | Eater Carolinas

"Hook & Barrel is the place to go if you are feeling splurgy. The upscale, nautical-themed dining room serves seafood towers, crab-stuffed flounder, braised short ribs, and wedge salads. For a taste of the restaurant on a budget, stop by for happy hour (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) for $5 well drinks, $7 shrimp cocktail, and $6 BLT sliders." - Ashley Daniels

We went here for a celebration and were met with such kindness and compassion. Kim and Jason were phenomenal and incredibly sweet! Jason was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, cusine and overall preparation! Jason and Kim were so thoughtful and provided us pimento cheese app and a celebration cake for us as well! Highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful dinner at Hook & Barrel! We started with the house lavash bread and pimento cheese — they even brought out a special gluten-free toast for me, which I really appreciated. The gluten-free fish bites were baked and perfectly seasoned, paired with a creamy mustard dipping sauce that was addicting. The garlic white wine mussels were steamed to perfection! Preston ordered the ginger pear martini — very sweet and easy to drink. For entrées, the fresh catch of the day was a whole rainbow trout, beautifully filleted and served over a rich cashew cream sauce. I added a side of saffron and date rice, which was full of flavor and complemented the fish perfectly. Preston got the crab cakes with Brussels sprouts and creamed cauliflower — the crab cake was gluten-free (a rare and delightful treat for me!) and absolutely delicious. I also loved that the menu clearly marked which dishes could be made gluten-free — it made ordering so easy and stress-free. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Joe, Saddona, and Adam took amazing care of us and made the whole experience feel special. We’ll definitely be back!

This was a very pleasant experience for our group. We made reservations for a group of ten. When we arrived, we were seated promptly. Our server was on top of everything and very knowledgeable of the menu items. She took our drink order and brought them out quickly, along with Pimento Cheese and Crackers. There are great options for starters. Our table shared Shrimp Ceviche, BLT Sliders, Flatbread, Bomber Shrimp, Cheese and Charcuterie, and Fish Bites…all of which were good. The main courses we chose were all delicious. My personal choice were the Crab Cakes, with garlic mashed potatoes and amazing brussel sprouts, while my wife got the Crab-stuffed Flounder. I highly recommend the flounder. Others in our group had dishes of Roasted Chicken Breast, Coastal Ribeye, and Crab Lump soup. All reports were positive, with the exception of the macaroni and cheese side dish, which lacked flavor. I tasted it and agree it was bland. When it came time for desserts, we were really in for a treat…pun intended. The Pumpkin Cheesecake was my favorite. I love cheesecake and had never had that flavor. The Pineapple Bread Pudding was also excellent, but I also love pineapple. The Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet were both a hit with our group, as well. Overall, everyone was satisfied with the service and food, leaving very happy. The atmosphere was very nice, and we were very comfortable. It feels like an upscale restaurant and the experience we had matches that. Great service and great food!

Google
First, make a reservation! Monday night was slam-packed-full! But reservation was perfect, right on time, and seating was less than a minute after checking in. Despite the sheer volume of guests dining, the service was quick, efficient, and attentive. Starters were fish bites and Oysters Heidi. The fish was done nicely and the dipping sauce was perfect with just the right amount of spice. Oysters were very good and ended our starting round pleasantly. A tray with a type of Pimento cheese and seasoned crackers bridged the gap between start and entrée while encouraging community and communication. Entrées were the seafood pasta and the seared scallops. Pasta was plentiful and full enough of seafood that you didn't feel you were missing anything. The scallops were good... but flavor didn't seem to be as developed as others I have had. Maybe the sear was just off? Still a great dish, obviously, when that's the only thing you can say felt different for others! We declined dessert, and yet there appeared a small celebration cake! Apparently someone had told them there was a birthday... Our next visit to Myrtle Beach will certainly include a dinner here again!

Google
Today my husband took me to Hook & Barrel for my Birthday. We live in Brunswick County NC but have passed by and have always wanted to try this place. OMG it was absolutely amazing!! It is such an upscale restaurant. Our server Tiannamarie was awesome. She was so helpful and was so attentive. The food was so delicious and totally high end. I can't wait to go back. If you haven't gone yet you have to go immediately. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Google
Great atmosphere and amazing food! We had she crab soup, fish bites and the seafood tower. Everything was very fresh and delicious! We were in the mood for a seafood tower and found the perfect place! They even gave us a free dessert for our anniversary!

Yelp
Restaurant had jelly fish hanging from the ceiling!!! Be sure to make reservations and arrive early for happy hour (4-6 PM)! We truly enjoyed our meal. Here's what we tried: * Oysters - served at the perfect temperature and absolutely delicious. * She-crab soup - very rich and creamy with soft, tasty crab. They were kind enough to offer to split the bowls for us. * Crab pasta - full of great complementary flavors and cooked perfectly. * Smoked shrimp and grits - rich, flavorful, and cooked beautifully (a local favorite for a reason!). * Mussels - delicious, and every single shell was open. * Crab-stuffed flounder - absolutely amazing! This was also our server's favorite, and I wish I had ordered it. We love sharing our dishes so we can taste a little of everything. Next time, I would probably skip the fish bites. They helped fill me up with the bowl of mussels, and dipping them in the mussel sauce definitely improved them, but they weren't the highlight. We were all too full for the tempting desserts next door, but we did grab a quick coffee to go before leaving. Highly recommend, we can't wait to come back!

Yelp
My family and I dined at Hook and Barrel last evening and the food and service was amazing! Some of the best dishes we ate were the seafood tower, the she crab soup, and the ocean fettuccine. Another shout out was the wasabi ahi tuna and short ribs. Both were delish and not overly salty. Our server Michael was a joy to be around. He explained everything, was polite and attentive, and we enjoyed talking to him. We were placed in the Croissant restaurant dining room because of the limited space and we were a walk in. I recommend making a reservation. This was the best restaurant in Myrtle Beach so far on our trip!

Yelp
My family and I ate at the Hook and Barrel restaurant tonight and it was great, from start to finish. We had been out running around all day and hadn't had lunch so we showed up at the restaurant at opening time at 4 PM. Normally, I think you would need a reservation, but we were lucky to get there so early and get seated promptly. Service began right away with the amazing Antonia. She expertly guided our meal starting with a thorough run-down of the menu and specials. While we were deciding she brought us complementary crispy flatbread with pimento cheese...yummm. We started with oysters on the half shell from Virginia and my dad said they were delicious, my mom and I each had the incredible she crab soup, and my husband savored the broiled oysters Hilda. Our dinner choices were the fresh salmon, whole red snapper, osso bucco, and crab stuffed flounder. Everyone loved their meals. We were all so full, but when Antonia brought out the dessert menu, we couldn't resist, and we decided to split the pineapple coconut bread pudding with coconut ice cream, and it was worth the indulgence. Nick, the Manager, came by to check and make sure we were enjoying our meal...such incredibly attentive staff! Thank you for an awesome early evening, Hook and Barrel! I wanted to add some more detail, but was having trouble adding to my review using my mobile phone so I will just add it here. Our service was so great that we never had to ask for a refill, we would turn around, and Antonia had already brought us a replacement drink. She and all of the staff were also very friendly and welcoming. It is a very warm, inviting environment. The food was all expertly prepared and came out without delay. I could keep going on and on...

Yelp
We went here on vacation last year with my family, a big group of 10. It was so good! Coming from Missouri, it was great to have delicious fresh seafood. My wife got the crab cakes as I got a spicy oyster linguine. We got several appetizers for the table as well that did not disappoint. It was an awesome "pier-esque" atmosphere and our waitress was so personable and did a great job with all of us.

Yelp
Hook & Barrel is hands-down my favorite place in Myrtle Beach, and their happy hour is absolutely incredible. Make sure you get there between 4:00 and 6:00 PM for Bar Bites specials. I seriously recommend the small plates--they are way better than your typical bar food! The Jumbo Shrimp are huge and juicy, and the lightly fried Fish Bites are perfectly crispy. It's clear they use only the freshest ingredients, which is their signature. My favorite part is always the little extra touch, that complimentary starter you get--it's such a nice surprise. The restaurant itself looks sleek and modern, and the staff are always super friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. I went around Christmas and it was decorated so nicely! The jellyfish lights were beautiful! The food was great! I tried the fish bites, blt, flatbread, crab cakes and wedge salad. The blt slider was my favorite with its pimento cheese and fried green tomato. The major issue was that you have to ask for the happy hour menu, or they don't even tell you about it. Generally, that is fine, but worse than that, the servers attitude completely changed following asking for the happy hour menu. It never changed, and he was so grumpy the rest of the time, even though we also ordered entrees. But regardless, I would go back and try something else as well.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere with a beachy vibe beautiful outdoor seating. Service has been great They start you with a complimentary crackers and pimento cheese starter. Next we had the mussels which was a little small on the portion size but the flavor was quite large. For our entrees we had the corvina with gnocchi and crab rigatoni. Both were good. Could have used a little more seasoning, but delicious nonetheless.

Yelp
Crazy good in every way. Five Stars are well earned and justified. Fish Bites were melt-in-your-mouth and fried to perfection. Apparently the fish bites are a combination of various fresh fish so you get a variety and they were delicious. She Crab soup is made to order and so tasty and creamy. Yum! Service was outstanding. Our server was Friendly, attentive, and helpful (as this was our first time visiting). Very cool interior (and we loved the comfy bar-height stools used at the High Top tables!). Bonus: we visited their coffee & ice cream shoppe after dinner -- which is a stand-alone building -- and their Butter Pecan ice cream was great : )~ O]

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! And yes there is good even great seafood at cheaper restaurants in the area, but this is worth the price especially if you want to have a nice dinner with your partner or family. I am glad we reserved ahead of time as well because this place was packed!! People were fighting with staff just to get a table, I have the say the staff handled our questions diligently and swiftly. I enjoyed our waiter greatly as he helped us choose foods, beverages that tied in well with the food too! Overall I would come back to this place if I were to visit Myrtle beach! Also, it is an upper scale restaurant, so dress appropriately nothing too fancy but perhaps don't come walking in with bathing suits and what not.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is very fun, busy and loud. We made reservations so we didn't have to wait long. The drinks were delicious, the food not so much. I got the blackened salmon, and it was very dry and tasteless. I tried to get extra mango salsa to help, but it didn't. My husband had Brussels sprouts and they were not good either. We did have the fancy bourbon bacon for an appetizer, and that was amazing! Overall - it's a very expensive place to eat that isn't very tasty.

Yelp
Myrtle Beach is really upping its dining game and we've come a long way since vacationing as a kid. This is one of those game changing additions. I'm so happy I finally got to try this place! It's been on my list for years and it did not disappoint. First things first, definitely make a reservation. It was slam packed on Monday night, but well worth the wait. You can walk up to the bar and order a drink to take outside while you wait, but must consult the host stand for bar seating. The outside area is so cozy and cute, with swings and fire pits. I started with the Old Fashioned. The candied bacon set this off wonderfully! I also had a Peach Bourbon Smash and highly recommend! It wasn't too sweet and the fresh peaches were a welcomed treat. My friend and I split the She Crab soup. It's the best I've ever had! So fresh, well seasoned and the delicious bits of crab were lovely. We also split the Burrata salad and Crab Stuffed Flounder. 10/10 no notes! I really enjoyed the guajillo bisque, it was a unique addition to a traditional plate. My other friend had the fish bites and those were outstanding. The fresh flaky fish, light breading, and hints of spice then dipped in the remoulade. Chef's kiss. Our waitress, Kim, was amazing! She made great recommendations and was a joy to talk to. I talked her ears off and she didn't seem annoyed despite being busy! Like I told Kim, I can't wait to come back and try more dishes! A must try when in Myrtle Beach. Keep upping your dining game, MB!

Yelp
Hook & Barrel is a seafood restaurant located on N Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. They are open Mon - Thu 4PM - 9PM and Fri - Sat 4PM - 9:30PM. I promised myself I'd finally try oysters this week, so here we are! They're served with cocktail sauce, horseradish, and lemon. My first experience wasn't bad. The oysters were definitely fresh, but I can't say that I love them. Next, I had the shrimp ceviche, bourbon bacon, and she-crab soup. The ceviche was light and refreshing, and the bacon was thick-cut with a rich, sweet glaze. The standout was definitely the she-crab soup. It was easily the best I've ever had, packed with flavor and a reasonable amount of crab. For my entree, I went with the pan-seared scallops, served with a sweet, creamy corn purée, sautéed Swiss chard, and smokey bacon lardons. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender on the inside with a beautiful golden crust. Our server, Cece, was excellent! She was welcoming, attentive, and undoubtedly proficient. She made the dining experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Hook & Barrel has indoor and outdoor seating. Pickup is available, but there is no delivery. Happy hour is Mon - Sat from 4PM - 6PM. Shrimp Ceviche - 7.7 Bourbon Bacon - 8.1 She-Crab Soup - 8.6 Pan-Seared Scallops - 8.5 Food - 8.2 Service - 8.7 Value - 8.2 Restaurant score - 84

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere, outstanding service, & the food was prepared & seasoned to perfection. Make reservations if you want to go to be sure you can get in, it's busy for a reason. Highly recommend if you are in the Myrtle Beach area.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant kind of got like this cool farmhouse meets the future. Server was awesome. Very knowledgeable. Food was perfect. Everything seemed to go over with it without a hitch. I went with my brother and nephew who is my nephew's birthday and they brought out a small cake that we shared for dessert lively place ambience was perfect wasn't too noisy. Enjoyed ourselves.

Thomas W.

Yelp
Nice looking restaurant with delicious food. Great service from Daiquone. We started with fish bites what were mixed kinds of fish. Very tasty. Oyster shooter was quite spicy! The Ocean Fettuccini was awesome! It was quite rich & I'm glad we shared the generous portion. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Everything was just perfect! The ambiance, the food, and our server was all just perfect. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I went with my parents on their anniversary dinner (yes i crashed I've been doing it for years) anyway I really our meal! Our waiter was very knowledgeable with a very pleasant personality. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and on nautical theme. Everything we had was fresh and great. It was recommended heavily and i see why! I'll be back

Yelp
Best food in Myrtle-beach. Their house made pimento cheese and she crab soup are amazing. Service and ambiance topped it off.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
One of the best meals and overall experiences we've had at a restaurant. The service was incredible. Our server, Brenda, was so nice and offered great advice. It feels like the restaurant went out of their way to provide an exceptional experience. The salmon was cooked PERFECT. The she crab soup was INCREDIBLE. And the fish bites are one of the best deals around. Little clouds of perfectly fried deliciousness. HIGHLY recommend.
google avatar

Leslie V.

Yelp
What a lovely dining experience! The food, the ambience, the service were all top notch. The menu is so varied but we chose the she-crab soup with the fig and beet salad. Both delicious. Also, the H & B salad with pan seared scallops. All very fresh with amazing flavors. The brussel sprouts were average so next time we will choose a different side. The dessert menu is so solid and we ordered the pineapple bread pudding with caramel sauce and coconut ice cream. All around, a terrific meal.

Yelp
This was the second place since being in town and the food and service was really good. I am going to recommend the pan fried red snapper... get it extra crispy and you are going to love it. They best pan fried anything I have had.

E F.

Yelp
This place was great. Their chips and dip appetizer was good: I had the angry clams entree. Basically, a clam linguine in a lemon butter sauce. This was really excellent. Probably, the best meal I've had in months. I was impressed. Cool thing about the menu is it suggests a wine to pair with the entree. I've never seen this done, but I really appreciated that and made it easy for me to pick a great dinner wine. Service was good. I liked the vib too. My only complaint was it was a little loud at the bar. Maybe some sound absorbers in strategic locations would help eliminate the echos. Overall 5/5 would go back and would recommend to friends.

Yelp
We dined here tonight based on reviews of the location. First, the service. We arrived right at opening so seating was not an issue. It's nicely decorated and well maintained. We were quickly greeted by our outstanding waitress, Rhonda. She was professional and attentive the entire time. She knew the menu very well and explained the specials to us. She brought us a plate of chips and house made pimento cheese. I'm normally not a fan of that cheese spread but I was hooked after one bite. They sell it by the 1/2 pound to go, if you're so inclined. I ended up ordering the spareribs with potato pancake and greens for a side. It was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. My wife ordered she crab soup for an appetizer which she thought was amazing and had crab stuffed flounder for her main. She said it was delicious, except the crab stuffing was a little on the salty side. I had the pineapple bread pudding for dessert. It came with housemade coconut ice cream. Honestly, it was one of the best desserts I've ever had. My wife chose the maple pecan crème brûlée. She said it was delicious. One last note the manager visited with us twice during our meal, very nice. Rhonda told us if you want to try this place during the high season you "must" have a reservation. I completely understand why.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Beautiful building and decor. We sat on the covered porch on a nice evening. We enjoyed our entrees - my blackened salmon was delicious. I also enjoyed the she crab soup. The crackers and cheese were good, and they surprised us with a delicious birthday cake for our daughter.
google avatar

Leland L.

Yelp
Service is great and food is really good quality here! I would like to see a little more variety on the menu (they could add like a seafood pasta maybe?) but all the meat and fish is really fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and pimento cheese appetizers. I got the short rib as my main dish and it was awesome!! Also really enjoyed the chocolate mousse dessert. I didn't like the espresso martini though, it was way too sweet. A good spot for a quality dinner with great service!

Jerry M.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious. Definitely one of the better restaurants in Myrtle Beach though I was there in the off season. Not sure how it holds up in the summer.
google avatar

Nabeel N.

Yelp
Love love love. If you get an opportunity, make sure to dine outside. Gives off a "southern porch" dining vibe! First off, the H&B old fashioned is a must. They have a wide selection of American Whiskies. We had the fish bites and mussels for an app which was absolutely delicious. Followed by their pan seared whole fish (Snapper), the angry clams and the blackened salmon. All of which was mouth watering and tasty!
google avatar

Khusbu P.

Yelp
We came here the first time we visited MB and loved everything about this place. The decor, the vibe, the wine and the pimento dip app. We have not been back since then but def recommend this restaurant as a local.
google avatar

Maya B.

Yelp
The service was fantastic. Our server, Rhonda, was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and professional. The exterior and porch are charming, and the interior is beautiful with unique decor. We sat in the wine room off to the size which was cozy and intimate. They start you with complimentary pimento cheese and homemade crackers which were great. We had the fish bites and she crab soup which were both very good. They actually split up the soup into three bowls for us which was really above and beyond accommodating. Our entrees were crab stuffed flounder, braised short ribs, and the grilled catch of the day. All were very good. The coconut pineapple rice and peach chutney with the catch of the day was delicious. Great presentation for entrees. For desserts we had key lime pie, pecan pie, and bunt cake. All were fantastic. Cocktails and mocktails were solid as well. The only things we didn't love were the asparagus- not bad but just average- and the plates were like fancy plastic. All of the other serving ware was very nice, but for such an expensive meal, real plates would be nice. Overall, this was fantastic and a great choice if you're looking for something more upscale in MB
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
Impeccable service and top notch presentation. Hook & Barrel definitely exceeded expectations. Came here last night for a quick dinner and left very impressed. The food and ambiance were both exceptional. To eat, I ordered the Roasted Chicken Breast, which came with whipped potatoes, roasted tri-colored carrots, chicken jus, and watermelon radish. If looking for a nice dinner spot in Myrtle Beach, this restaurant is a great option. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Gail C.

Yelp
Six stars for service, dinner and cocktails. Minus two for the worse creme brulee I have ever had.Plus, it is very expensive. I picked this restaurant based on how it came up on Yelp. The first picture I saw was of their famous creme brulee, since that is my weakness these days and I needed some self nurturing that was my goal, eat a healthy dinner than on to dessert!! We had some delicious appetizers, a take of Oysters Rockefeller, my main course as well as my husband's was seasoned to perfection and tasted exactly how it was described. My dessert, well you can guess, was terrible. A soft sugar shell and a warm, nearly soupy cream. Blah! The restaurant it self has a beautiful esthetic and contemporary, southern charm. The service was great. We will be back, but definitely not ordering the dessert.

Yelp
My husband and I walked up on a Thursday evening without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to immediately be sat. We were offered either the raw bar or the main bar. We'd never been to Hook and Barrel, but loved sitting at the raw bar at other seafood restaurants (my husband was a bartender at a raw bar for 10+ years) and we loved being able to interact with the raw bartenders. We were sort of surprised at the wall that rose far above the low bar seating at the raw bar. It was going to offer the experience we hoped for, so my husband asked could we be moved to the main bar. They quickly accommodated the change, which we were grateful for! We had a few different servers at the bar who were friendly, informative, and attentive. I love that you get palmetto cheese immediately when you're served. We had a couple of mixed drinks and ended up having a low tide of the Prosecco to finish. It was delicious! The female bartender suggested the fish bites which were fantastic. Not too much breading and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the mussels, which I despise in general so I can't vouch for them, but he said they were amazing! Overall an amazing experience and we will absolutely be back!

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. The fish was prepared perfectly and the portions were large. Excellent service. This is a keeper.

Kelly C.

Yelp
I found the restaurant on Yelp. I had no clue where to go, since this was my first time coming to Myrtle Beach. My friend ordered the stuffed crab filet, I ordered the shrimp and grits. They offered us these large crackers with cheese and pimento. It was good. We didn't have reservations, and as it was valentine's day, and we were not there for that reason, the hosts were accommodating and got is a seat really fast. Our server took a while to take our order. The restaurant wasn't too loud and there were these awesome custom jellyfish lights hanging from the ceiling. Also, the food seemed like an after thought here? All of the alcoholic drinks were in the front of the menu. More pages of alcohol were there over food! I found that interesting. I wasn't sure if that was a Myrtle beach thing or not. My food was really good my friend enjoyed her meal as well.

Brenda W.

Yelp
Had birthday dinner there with my daughter from Charleston who dines there frequently. She and her spouse were very impressed with facility, menu, service and food was awesome!
google avatar

Breonna D.

Yelp
Our group of 7 went for dinner last night to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. To begin the night, we're greeted by an incredibly welcoming and happy hostess. We started off the meal with cocktails, the caramelized bacon appetizer, and the best seafood tower we've had (and we've had a lot). Our food was perfection, and the creme brulee was to die for. Our server Antonia truly made the experience one to remember. Highly recommend trying this place out, just make sure to call for your reservation!
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Made a reservation for dinner. The inside dining area is beautiful, and nicely decorated for a beach town. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. She knew all this dishes, and was able to make good recommendations. I had the Mahi Mahi and my wife had the Chicken. It's were perfectly prepared, and very tasty. I can't think of one thing wrong. This place gets a rare 5 star review from me. I would change absolutely nothing.
google avatar

Amelia B.

Yelp
Okay , you have to get a reservation for the dining room. The bar had seating when we left at 9pm-ish. The server was phenomenal, kept our water glasses full and presented himself like he was reading my mind. The decor was classy with soft rock playing in the background; Fleetwood Mac and Eric Clapton. They have bourbon glazed bacon served hanging from a stand, looking like a jellyfish. So cool. While the menu appears large, the first 4 pages are whiskeys, bourbon, cocktails, and wines. The food was spectacular. Nice smallish portions, ~2 cups of food. Plated with skill. Dessert is a must. It is pricey. $30-40 a plate. Worth every penny.

Yelp
First and foremost, our server, Diaquone, was great. So attentive without being overbearing. I read many of the reviews, and took the advice of ordering the fish bites and She Crab soup. Both excellent choices. We also ordered the house salad and Scallops. Loved them both. The salad was the real surprise, apples, pecans, greens and cucumber. Really refreshing and delicious. We will definitely return when no the area

Yelp
I am in Myrtle Beach for work. Today is my fourth visit in a week. Food is absolutely amazing and service is impressive! Customer service is exemplary from the start to finish. It is not cheap but it is worth every penny. My favorites include the Suroc Bacon, Short Rins, Whole Fish, Pineapple Bread Pudding, Orange Creme Brûlée ... ambiance is hip and very nice. If you want a table, please reserve. I like sitting by the oyster bar.

Yelp
Hook & Barrel was an experience we will repeat on our next visits to Myrtle beach. My husband had the whole grilled Snapper fresh catch and it was perfectly prepared and delicious. The lavish and pimento cheese they present as an amuse-bouche was so irresistible I had to pack up my entree for later. Carson our server was very professional and informed as well as the other staff and we really enjoyed the decor of rope, weathered wood and jellyfish lighting. Definitely a must do in Myrtle beach! Thank you for a great evening Hook & Barrel!

Yelp
The oysters were amazing. We loved the ceviche so much that we ordered a second time. Great bar scene and service is very good. Highly recommend!

Yelp
On a previous occasion, my wife and I ate at H&B and we weren't happy. This time I wanted a steak and usually high end seafood houses have good steaks. So why not. The customary gift of cheese and crackers came out. The cheese was a bit dry but I loved the flavor. Bourbon Bacon appetizer which was awesome. My wife had the filet and I had the ribeye. Both very tasty. Only issue with that was the sides of fingerling potatoes and Brussels sprouts looked like a kids portion. Flavor was there, but I did expect a little more. All this time the staff were extremely friendly, the service was great and I loved the atmosphere. We'll definitely return to try other dishes.

Yelp
Five stars for Hook & Barrel! We had a fantastic dinner here last night. The menu is creative and well-executed, the atmosphere is warm and inviting -- but what really sets this place apart is the exceptional service. Every staff member was attentive and went out of their way to make our evening special. A special shoutout to our server, Daquon, who was outstanding -- professional, friendly, and on top of every detail. He made the experience not truly enjoyable. We'll be back every time we visit Myrtle Beach. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What an amazing place! We sat at the bar for happy hour, enjoyed specialty drinks, shrimp cocktail and shared the blackened salmon with rice and mango salsa. Everything was delicious! The service was great and bartenders were friendly. I love the decor of this restaurant!
