I was so delighted with my first visit here. Me and my family had the best experience and the waiter was such a sweetheart. I highly recommend checking this place out for the seafood and drinks. The large catch and Cajun Boil meal was soooo delicious. You guys rock!!!!

Google
My friend and I went here for lunch, I really don't eat seafood, but I decided to get the boil. Our appetizer was Calamari, I've had it before, but there was a little difference (imitation)..wasn't bad, but it was noticeable.

Google
My chicken wings smelt and tasted old. The manager wouldn't trade out the wings I ate for fish. Eventually he said that he could give me half of on the wings but it's left a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively. He also wouldn't give me the owners name... probably because he knew it was bad food. The Caesar salad also had overwhelming huge chunks of Parmesan that I could've done without. My server was nice.

The food is OK. I don't appreciate the value. I feel like you pay so much for so little. I'm not afraid to spend money for good food, I just don't think a sweaty bag of over oiled, frozen crab legs and chewy corn cob is worth $35. However the bar tender here is a rock star. On a Friday night they booked ONE bartender and she ran the whole bar and the entire restaurant. She was dope. Staff if good Parking is good Facility is clean Bathrooms are good

Google
My wife and I had a fantastic dining experience at HOOK & REEL Seafood & Bar. The calamari was absolutely delicious, and our seafood boils were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed some great cocktails, and the service was top-notch. However, a small heads-up: make sure to check your bill, as a 15% tip is already included. I didn’t notice this until I got home and had already added an extra 20%. Overall, a wonderful place for seafood lovers!

Google
Maggie O who claims to be the manager one did not want to clarify her official name and or spelling has horrible customer service, when speaking with me regarding this matter. Not only did these crab legs look bad they felt gritty. When asking the waitress about them she stated she consulted with Maggie, who said they were fine. So I went ahead and tasted a piece. After cracking you could tell they smelt bad and even tasted bitter and dry. When speaking with her she admitted that the crab legs are old and that is how the price is discounted. However she did not want nor attempt to accommodate me and my family for this.

Google
Food is usually up to expectations, fast and hot. Customer service this time was trash. Employee was unaware of menu and unhelpful served with a side of attitude. He continue telling me the items I wanted wasn’t on the menu even after I said I’ve ordered it from here multiple times before. He also kept putting me on hold. Hall rd location was too far or else I would’ve went there just due to that alone. I’m big on customer service and that was bad.

Amazing!! Our waitress Katrina was phenomenal!! Food and drinks were incredible!! Will definitely be back and recommend!!

Yelp
Another wonderful dinner here. We both got combination boils of shrimp, crab, and sausage. Everything was delicious as always!

Yelp
Love seafood boil so when I read the reviews decided to try this place. Located in a convenient strip mall with ample parking the decor inside is very inviting. Service was knowledgeable and helpful with menu. We started with Crabmeat Fries. The fries come smothered in crabmeat with a delicious sriracha remoulade sauce. Def recommend trying. We ordered a seafood boil with lobster tail, snow crab, shrimp, potato. We added broccoli and egg with there signature spice blend. The fish was prepared with too much salt and the seasoning was decent but have had better. Overall, I prefer Crafty Crab which is also in area.

Yelp
They will double charge your card even if you tipped in cash! for $1 extra! Trifling!

Wilneshia M.

Yelp
Food was not fresh definitely frozen for a while. Over priced for quality received .

Yelp
My spouse has to be gluten-free, and having seen comments in a Facebook group recommending the restaurant, we stopped in on a Friday night. It seemed alarmingly empty for a Friday in Lent, but there are quite a number of fish fry's on the East side this time of year. A very hesitant host got us seated and then we waited quite a while before a manager (?) inquired if we'd been waited on, but shortly after our drink orders were taken. The drinks were tasty! We then placed our food order and that came out rocket fast! We both ordered the shrimp mini boil with sausage as an add on; I had the seasoned garlic butter (yum!) and my spouse had dry (Old Bay). It was delicious! It is served in a large plastic bag (slightly alarming), but it certainly kept everything moist and delicious, even the spouse's "dry" order. Spouse didn't care for the corn, but I thought it acceptable. Potatoes were tasty, if few in number. Adding this at the end, so not as to detract from those who skim reviews: There were at least three (3) signs alerting customers that: (1) they were understaffed and to be patient with the staff who were working), (2) they were under surveillance and warning not to pass counterfeit currency (somewhat alarming), and (3) don't remember the 3rd, but I started to feel moderately disconcerted. I guess if you deal with a lot of impatient diners, that sign certainly warns them off, but the warning about counterfeit currency? Do they leave? Is this necessary? I think not. When we were leaving, I noticed that there were three distinct sections to the restaurant and they were far busier than I thought. Glad to see it because we will be back!

Yelp
I like the food. But they have decided to start automatically adding the tip to the bill, without notifying the customer. I paid 45% . Not planning to go back, and from now on I will look over the bill wherever I go

Bruce W.

Yelp
Food was . Decor was fun. Many food and dietary options available!! I felt like I was in Louisiana for a moment! Service was fantastic!

Denise L.

Yelp
A fun spot to grab a po boy or crab boil. Comfy booths and nautical decor. They have multiple signature cocktails which are a quite good. Our server Rasha was very welcoming and accommodating for our large party.

Ashley K.

Yelp
Haven't had a fish sandwich in a very long time. I had a craving for it! To try this for the very first time during a craving and NOT be disappointed is amazing to me! There is nothing worse than craving something and not liking it. THIS WAS AN A+++. Not overly salted, well seasoned though. Great flavor and crunch to the breading of the catfish. Cajun fries alongside were crispy and well seasoned as well. Also NOT SALTY! I'll be doubling back again and again. This meal is great for lunch or dinner. *ordered pickup with DoorDash $13 and some change*

Tamyra S.

Yelp
Had Amoni as my server and she was great!!! Very attentive and polite. She even bagged up my meal to go for me. I got a seafood boil and was not disappointed, decent portion sizes and flavorful. Will be back

Jeannine S.

Yelp
Actually pretty damn good! Well kinda for Roseville ... Service was super good, the food OK LETS DO THIS!!

Tyron H.

Yelp
Ordered snow crab legs, mussels, shrimp, and crawfish . Hook and Reel blend with a heat level of fire. Moderate portion. Fast service.

Debbie C.

Yelp
The service was great . The food was greasy and salty. The lobster bisc was grainy not a good flavor.

Kevin J.

Yelp
Poor Eva J., customer service representative! Fated to have to respond to each and every Yelp review from every Tom, Dick and Harry out there, from the levelheaded to the skeptically unhinged sounding. I assume Corporate™ makes her do this and it's not of her own volition. Hamstrung in what she can say to people as the official voice of the Hook & Reel chain, it's either apologizing obsequiously or reveling in compliments and giving a hearty come on back! But what can she say to a lukewarm review from someone who really doesn't feel too strongly one way or another? Let's find out, shall we? I'm a big fan of crawfish, or as us sophisticated connoisseurs like to call em, mudbugs! (I just put on a zydeco playlist on Spotify just to get my blood flowing for this in fact.) And these seafood boil places have been popping up left and right in metro Detroit these past several years. Hook and Reel seems to be about the only chain, though, sweeping up the ashes of Joe's Crab Shack but without anywhere near the amount of kitsch and, thankfully, tie dye. H & R is alright but nothing great. Almost every time I just get the crawfish boil. I've had better crawfish elsewhere but it's still crawfish and still good. If you like spicy food go ahead and get it at the highest spice setting, fire I think? I usually get it at one lower but one time I finished off the whole fire boil which really impressed my server. Said he'd never seen it before. So I think the spice standard here is a bit lower than some Cajun joints. Portions could stand to be bigger for the prices. Kinda light on the corn and potatoes, and I sometimes add broccoli. If you're looking for bang for your buck and spiciness try the little diamond in the rough carry out joint Crab Hut Seafood over on Frazho. (Sorry Eva J. My mom is also an Eva J. but I had to do it.) But hey, this is a sit down restaurant, though, right? The decor is aggressively themed yet still generic seeming and the service is a mixed bag. It can be competent, on point, or just sporadic and sluggish... even when they're slow. I have gone to this location a good number of times, mainly because while there's a good number of seafood boil joints around town, this is the only one I know of near my parents condo, which I come out to fairly often. (Currently out here in Covid quarantine passing the time writing Yelp reviews while they're basking in the Florida sun.) It's okay, but nothing I get too excited about even with the crawfish. (Maybe continued access to this delicacy has made it less special to me.) If another Cajun seafood boil place close to Harrison Township opened up they could probably steal my business away... unless silver tongued Eva J can say exactly the right thing! I'm just playing, Eva J. ... or am I? Really though it's kind of wild your job has you fastidiously patrol a website that's basically a huge comments section.

Mary A.

Yelp
Delicious food and reasonably priced. Our server Amoni provided excellent service to our group. We had an amazing time! She always made sure our beverages were refilled, she was very prompt and available for our needs. We will definitely come back!

Mashicka R.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst service ever. The manager Cilantro, actually gave us the most attitude calling us bad customers for complaining about the poorly cooked cold seafood that we were served. I've never had a manager act this rude and bold to speak to a customer like that. I will be making a better business bureau complaint as well as corporate.

Tia G.

Yelp
Came in for lunch on 2/14 at around 12:15pm and noticed there was only about 4 customers in the entire restaurant... which was fine but the male greeter at the door was rude and dismissive as well as my female server. Very dry and inattentive service. I didn't even want to eat here anymore. Had a drink and left . Very poor customer service!!

Ultame H.

Yelp
We paid $85.00 for a Heartache and High blood pressure. This food was sooooo very salty and the lobster was so overcooked! the meat was stuck to the shell (hells kitchen) 1 small potato 1 quarter piece of corn and the shrimp was not even cleaned This place is so cheap in so many ways. Just disappointed at the level of preparation in preparing food that you're selling to people.

Kamri B.

Yelp
Terrible customer service the manager is a prick wish I could give them zero stars they microwaved my cheese sticks and offered me a discount instead of remaking them all black people don't want a discount also the catfish is not catfish it's SWAI

Hank L.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised since this was our first visit too. what We considered the new restaurant near our home. The food was very good and the service was excellent for a takeout which was prepared quickly while there , I checked out the facility and have to say it looked very neat and we will come back for a dine in, and one of their specialties is crab and they put large paper tablecloths on each table and it looked very inviting. Will visit soon again.

Michael B.

Yelp
The food was all right. It wasn't whatever by talking about but it I would recommend somebody peoples back there if I had to, but their crab legs need to be a little bit bigger. They're too small.

Breana B.

Yelp
I only ordered carry out but I'm obsessed with their crab meat fries, I wish this location was closer to me but when I'm in the area I'll definitely order that and try more of their food. The place looked clean and the host quickly acknowledged me and got me my carry out order which was nice.

Angel S.

Yelp
My party size grew from 3 to 8 and the restaurant was able to accommodate me with no issues. The food came out in a timely manner and was so delicious. The atmosphere was nice with dimmed lights ans music playing. The server did an awesome job.

Erica G.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to try this restaurant the other day after work, just bc this is a new restaurant and location near all of us, and plus we all wanted to check out the seafood boils! We went on a Thursday evening, and the restaurant wasn't too crowded. So we were able to get seated right away. Our waiter was really nice, I can't remember his name, but he was very pleasant. One thing off top though, I wish he would've explained any specials that were current, and I say that to say, after I left the restaurant and provided feedback to a couple of my friends, one of my friends shared that she was eager to try the restaurant Bc of special she saw online, which is the "Surfs Up Boil", which comes with 1 Cluster Snow Crab Legs, 1/2 lb shrimp head off, corn and potatoes, and 1 Margarita for $32.00. Which was literally the same order I ordered, except I didn't have a margarita and I added sausage. However, I would've ordered that deal had we been informed about it. Also, although there was cards on the table that had happy hour items, I feel like the waiter should've gone into detail about the happy hour. He didn't say right now is happy hour so we have drink deals and appetizer deals, we just said we see there is a happy hour and ordered. So that is my only disappointment about my visit. The lack of communication. So, after everyone ordered, all of our food came out really fast! So that a bonus! Everyone enjoyed their food! One of my friends ordered a mini boil like I did, another order a crab salad in which she really enjoyed, and my other friend ordered the shrimp basket. She said the shrimp was kind of bland, but overall liked her food. I added hush puppies with my mini boil, and I loved it! So good! In fact, I loved the hush puppies so much I went back the next day to order a full order, lol. Just Bc I had so much food leftover. Actually, I ate my leftover for two days. There was so much food left, and I had a mini boil, so I can't imagine a full boil. I would definitely return again to try other menu items! As my overall experience was good, and the food was good!

Danielle T.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Wednesday night after a flight and was excited to try this new location! It was also my Moms birthday and she had been eyeing this place up! Everything was fast as there were not many people here! We ordered drinks which were good but alittle pricey! Then ordered boils which were both amazing! We've never had boils before and was just a all around great experience! But then it felt rushed, the server let us know he had been cut because they were slow, dropped off the bill then stared at me as I filled out the tip and signed, I will say this hands down made me very uncomfortable! He even tried taking my moms drink from the table before she had even finished! What if we wanted to stay and talk? Instead I feel like we needed to leave right away!

Bianca B.

Yelp
Rasha was very patient and accommodating for my party of 14 on easter Sunday! Loved the vegetarian option I got the #11!

Ja K.

Yelp
The food was very good. The service was excellent. The room was very nice for a small gathering. I was there for my birthday and I got received slice of cheesecake with a torch, LOL Great. We had a party of seven.

Jason W.

Yelp
After a long awaited opening, I was sure to place my order on opening day! Online ordering was smooth, my order was done extremely quick and the service inside of the restaurant was pleasant and quick. I have been to many opening days for restaurants and they tend to be a bit hectic. The staff here were well poised and had smiles on there faces. The food was everything I had hoped for and more. I ordered a pound of crawfish, shrimp and clams. The food was fresh and the seasoned butter garlic sauce was fantastic! I will be dining in soon to try some other food options and venture into one different sauce options! This is now my go to seafood boil restaurant!!!!

LaKita H.

Yelp
Dined in today. The watermelon martini had a great flavor, just needed an extra kick of alcohol. Food was ok, the house blend sauce was a little burnt which has never been a problem before so I hope this was just a one time ordeal. On another note, our server Katrina was phenomenal. She was the only server who showed up to work today and despite working short, she was still very attentive, pleasant, and kind. Thank you for meeting our needs Katrina, you rock.

Shelly D.

Yelp
For the little amount you get it overpriced portions should be larger. Other than that food was decent

Sheryl M.

Yelp
Set up for seafood boils with brown paper table clothes. Fried Catfish was tender but a little heavy on the batter. Crab cake bites were delicious with a tangy sauce. Seafood spaghetti had shrimp and mussels. Full bar. Enjoyed a very tall Long Island Ice Tea. They have a happy hour 4 to 6pm for food and drink special prices.

Clifton M.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here. I had the lobster tail and crawfish boil. Everything was great. Appetizers were coconut shrimp and crab bites. Our waiter Deangelo was a excellent waiter. Will definitely be back.

Corey M.

Yelp
Is this chicken or fish? The fish was undercooked and overcooked at the same time. It tasted like the Clinton River smells. Was unable to to give 0 stars. Manager, owner refused refund. If you purchase, please use credit/debit to stop payment. Terrible seafood experience.

Marissa A.

Yelp
The service I received was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I would definitely come back again. They have really good drink specials tooo!!!!

April H.

Yelp
a minute agoNEW Great food. Fast service. Much easier than doing a boil at home. We had the best waiter EVER. Cliff was the best. Friendly, on top of everything very helpful. Also there was a drunk patron that needed to be removed. The guy caused a scene. A family was seated near us and the 2 little girls were terrified. Cliff is such a class act he brought them chocolate cake. Cliff you are one of a kind. True star!! Ask for his section you won't be disappointed.

Shawn S.

Yelp
Wings were a lil' undercooked but the barmaid was so enthusiastic in describing them and giving her opinion as to the different dipping sauce choices (decided bbq), ordering non-breaded and crispy so I followed her instructions! .....I mean it is a seafood spot. Recommend sitting at the bar since this place just recently opened. FYI - Heard the hostess say a hour + when walking in on an early Saturday evening. Staff were very attentive with exceptional service which outweighed the food.

Will E.

Yelp
As far as seafood goes hook and reel as it's close as you can get to the Maryland eastern shores in the Midwest they should have all fried clams on the menu but what the heck you can't have it all

Nancy J.

Yelp
This place is okay. It reminds you of Joe's Crab Shack but not as good. I must say that I was disappointed.

Kenneth K.

Yelp
First time visit. The waitress was very good (forgot to get her name). I ordered Shrimp and Green Mussels w/Garlic Butter mild sauce. It was some of the best food I have had in a long time. Yes, it was a little pricy, but that would depend on your budget. Can't wait to go again.

Alexx B.

Yelp
First time having it I travel for work I taste a lot of different food this is definitely some good stuff recommend!!

Lisa L.

Yelp
I normally love this place usually good seafood at good prices and they always have a special Went in Friday and what I thought was an excellent special carb 1 pound crab bag with two potatoes and one corn for $19.99 so I bought two bags got home and opened the bag and was very disappointed it was only pieces of crab in the bag the top part to the claw and the leg that has the claw at the end no way was it a full pound I thought it was gonna be that four leg but it was just scraps very disappointing

Lisa Z.

Yelp
Took a chance tonight on a new adventure. It was a rainy night but the food was pure sunshine. We had no idea what to expect. The boils come in a bag and were wonderful! Hubby had the scallops and shrimp and I had the snow crab. We both chose the hook and reel sauce. Dinners come with two potatoes and corn. Hubby added broccoli and sweet potato fries (he said they are the best he ever had) and we shared a bottle of wine. The food and drink were great and it was fun to eat. Service from Tiffany and the whole team was excellent! Price was reasonable and we even had leftovers. We will be back!

Riley M.

Yelp
First time here and the staff is so friendly and the food was delicious! Service was quick and the staff periodically checked on you. I definitely recommend this place. It's a perfect place for a date night!

Catherine S.

Yelp
Had a great meal on 9/17/21. Friendly staff. Oysters on half shell fresh, large, mild flavor, and a real bargain 12/ $20. Lobster bisque soup delicious. Crab roll fresh, lightly dressed, tummy. Will he back soon

Brandon P.

Yelp
Good food, but the overall experience was not worth it. The surfs up boil is advertised for $32 but we were charged 35.99 plus $1 each for the flavoring in the margaritas. The waiter was nice but the manager (Edward) was not he came over and said it's just a $1 which it's not. And said he can't take the $1 off due to corporate! He said that he would make the waiter pay the $1. Overall the food was good but the manager definitely was not professional about the whole situation he was rude and did not care about us being overcharged. I was very excited to try the new restaurant but he definitely ruined the experience.

Maddie W.

Yelp
First time at this place. I took my mother here for mother's day. Our waitress, Kayla, was honestly terrible. She wasn't rude or anything, just barely spoke and was super quiet. Never asked how anything was, we had to ask for refills. Left all our empty things on our table. Was just bad service. I got the flounder and my mom got a boil. I am a ketchup person, and what surprised and dissatisfied me was that this place doesn't have ketchup bottles. just fast food ketchup. super inconvenient and weird. Hush puppies were amazing but also came with melted butter which tasted like nothing and was useless. We didn't get side plates for our appetizers either which was weird. Overall the food was a 9/10. The service and atmosphere and restaurant experience was a 2.

Abraham P.

Yelp
I went here for the first time with my mother and stepfather, we all really enjoyed our meals. The selection was good, the prices were fair, and the staff was attentive. The parking was a private and free. If you like seafood and are near a Hook & Reel, stop in, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did. All 3 of us said we'

Joanna M.

Yelp
I would give a 0 but the app wont let me. We went for our daughter's birthday! We are from the south and this was not a boil and the menu you have is horrible! The corn is excessively sweet. The lobster bisque soup was cold and tasted like nothing but maple syrup. They put tomatoes on my sandwich, I requested none. The server forgot forks and when asked to get some she admitted she was moving to fast. The portion for the price is horrible! My daughter didnt eat her food! My potatoes were not cooked all the way. Long periods of time we had no service. The plain butter tasted like plastic, like it was microwaved with the lid on. Maybe thats why the lid was stuck on there. The dressing for the ceasar salad is a packet, but the dressing was the better tasting option of them all. The only good thing was the free dessert that they dont make themselves. The strawberry topping was very tart. Please don't waste your money. We paid $160 bucks for leaving the restaurant and eating cereal cause we were still hungry.

Jazmin S.

Yelp
10/10 a must try again! Poor Edward came in on his day off, he served my mom & I the best drinks , the bread sticks were fresh & the crab legs were MEATY. Thank you so much Edward, I hope you can enjoy your next off day!!
