Best New Restaurants in San Antonio | Eater Austin

"The freshly built Creamery District is more known for its scattering of bars, but it has a standout with this counter-service seafood restaurant. The dining room avoids the usual seafaring cliches with the beiges and creams of Japanese minimalism. The eclectic group of dishes, however, are not so geographically bound. Much of the menu nods to Mexico, but it also offers Italian calamari, Spanish-inspired octopus, and classically British fish and chips." - Brandon Watson

This place was absolutely fabulous! We ordered our drinks and literally before I even took my first sip, our food was already on the table — that was amazing, especially since we were starving! The restaurant is clean, beautiful, and the food… wow! Full of flavor, fresh, and simply delicious. Definitely a spot we’ll come back to, and a must-visit for anyone craving some seriously good seafood. Boil Seafood knows what they’re doing! Our server Andrea was also incredibly kind — she checked on us regularly without being intrusive, just the right amount of attention to make sure we had everything we needed. Great service all around!

Google
First time in to.test it out. We arrived around 11:45 am. Group of 5. Our server said she was new, I've forgotten her name but she was awesome! It was a nice clean spot, laid back 90s music was playing which I enjoyed. The food was fresh and delicious. We will be back to test out the dinner menu.

Lucy is a great waitress! Her service is fantastic! Since She also made our drinks they are the best. The Hennessy sidecar was amazing! The steamed oysters are to die for! Shrimp poboy, flounder basket, fried calamari were cooked to perfection.

Google
Absolutely would not recommend this place. One of the worst seafood boils ive had. For what i got it was incredibly expensive. I got like 8 peices of shrimp??? For $30?? And the sauce had a funky taste. It was almost creamy instead of your typical seafood boil sauce?? My waitress was also not attentive at all and the restaurant was empty. The picture below is apperently $30 worth of seafood at this place. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Google
Great interior design. Super Crab 🦀 Bucket place. I would recommend if you’re in the mood. Service was a mid range and food predictable for this type of venue.

Google
The service and the restaurant’s atmosphere were good. The food was very bland. We had a fried oyster basket, a fried shrimp basket, and some appetizers. The shrimp and oysters were fried perfectly, except they had zero seasoning, not even salt and pepper.

Google
We were all craving some seafood so we decided to finally come here. We walked in and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We ordered some garlic sticks which were good but needed more garlic flavor for me personally. We got the Reel’s Catch which we decided to have shrimp, lobster, scallops, clams, and mussels I believe. The seasoning in it was simply amazing and made everything taste great. Every piece of seafood in it was just cooked perfectly. Nothing was tough or chewy. I had a blast and will definitely come back. If your in the area come check it out.

Google
My gf and I found this place on TikTok about a month or two ago. New to San Antonio & by far the best seafood we’ve ever had by far. Being a big seafood person, we’ve tried a lot. But Hook n Reel is where it’s at. Hits harder every time. 🔥

Yelp
Hook & Reel is our go to place for boils ! With wanting to get more bang for the buck we always make sure to go on the days they have specials.. Wednesdays is the Buy 1 get 1 free day for 1 lb of shrimp... so for about 20.00$ you get 2 lbs of flavorful perfect cooked shrimp. You can always call ahead to see if they have specials. Our waitress was great. Greeted us right away - consistent with refills and even drinks to go. She brought everything we would need BEFORE our bags came out (Crab crackers, napkins, lemons, butter, etc) normally we have to ask for those things! We always add eggs to our bag some people it's just not their thing but I recommend trying it! Hook & Reel is decent in price for a seafood place around here.. it's never too busy so we have never had to sit and wait - I think too many people sleep on this place!! They have a large menu for cocktails, so if you're a drinker this is a place to find unique drinks! They also have fried seafood baskets if that's what you prefer. If you're looking to try a good seafood restaurant- skip Red Lobster (they will never get boils like this!!) and come straight here!

Yelp
There is no heating in the restaurant!! And same issue on previous visits. This time by windows and everyone is wearing jackets!! Why?? Staff is overworked. Takes close to two before you get your food!! I was not the only customer with these issues.

Yelp
The shrimp and Cajun fries were good. The Door Dash order page pic showed cocktail sauce but I got tartar sauce so minus one star. The ordering page gives you no option to choose sauces or even extra sauce so minus one star. I'd rather have cocktail sauce with my shrimp, but it was good none the less.

Yelp
The secret to this place is ordering an additional side of sauce. I've gone here multiple times in person and DoorDash. Inside to me is never really crowded. They have a bar but drinks aren't that great. Servers and cashiers are generally nice and your order does come out pretty quickly.

Yelp
I was quite disappointed in my experience in this location. We've eaten at the Killeen location a few times and were never disappointed, so we gave this location a try. Food was fishy and overcooked. Shrimp with head on wasn't cleaned properly so it had a dirt taste to it. The crabs seemed to be a bit fishy as well. The scallops were so over cooked they were soggy. Not a good experience at all. Our server Victor was great. He was THE only thing about the experience that was good. Very attentive and friendly. Always made sure we were taken care of. It's the only reason I gave this a 2 star review. Would I recommend this place? Sure, just not this particular location. I'd tell them to take the drive to Killeen.

Yelp
A nice establishment overall, but the crawfish seasoning was lackluster. Waitress was someone tho. A little dark inside but it's not overbearing.

Yelp
Do you like boils? If so, this is your spot! Why?? They do boil COMBOS!!! Yaaaas! The few spots I went to either didn't have the utensils that are typically provided, they overcooked majority of the boil (corn, 2lbs shrimp), or they served everything à la carte which can become pricey and still not have everything you want included. Our server, Mya, was incredible and explained the menu and when we saw the combos, I was sold! They were unable to provide the sweet tea order due to some difficulties that occurred in the back, but it's ok... the food was on point! Mya was friendly, we were welcomed to ask questions, and all our needs were met. We ordered our app, steamed oysters with the hook and reel special blend. I wanted to make sure I set aside this blend to mix with some of the items in my boil. For the Reel Catch combo boil, we got garlic butter sauce... spicy. I was afraid but also felt a bit brave for trying something new. Lol No regrets; it pretty good! I would def try with the hook and reel special blend next time. Drool! We had enough left overs that would feed about 2 more people when we got home. Not being a big fruity drink fan, I still wanted to try the Cajun Candy thinking it would help simmer the spicy down. It was ok not sure if I'd spend $11 on that again. We were here early afternoon, so the place wasn't busy. It was nice that Mya made time to chat with us. We shared previous experiences with places that served similar food. It was great to hear and understand someone else's perspective! We will return! Recommended indeed!

Yelp
Service sucks!! Do not go here.. I certainly will be taking my business elsewhere!! Waited 30 min for no one to even acknowledge us.. never again..

Yelp
The Crawfish was definitely frozen, it tasted terrible and was still COVERED in dirt. The crab tasted off and left me feeling sick after my meal. I wish I had taken pictures, it was bad. None of the seafood was cooked with the seasonings we requested, we asked for sausage and got corn instead in the boil. It was just bad, way too nasty for $110 worth of a boil. Save your money go somewhere else.

Yelp
MENU: Somewhat disappointed particularly at the wording on the menu. I went during their "Happy Hour". The happy hour drinks are definitely weak and taste mostly like juice. As for the menu under the section "soup and salad" I thought that if I ordered soup, I would be getting a side salad because of the word soup AND salad...unfortunately NOT. I think the heading should read "Soup OR salad". That's just my opinion. The chicken wings weren't bad & my friend enjoyed the lobster tail & crawfish. Service was quick and server was simply ok.

Yelp
Love it here!! Nothing to complain about. Came in for dinner on a Monday, so we got seated and served very quickly. Service: SO GOOD. Our waitress was so attentive and nice, even whipped up some spicy Cajun sauce for us additionally because we wanted it even spicier after it came out. Food: good food! We shared the Reel Catch combo boils and added a few extra potatoes and sausage in there and still had some leftovers. Only one crab leg was slightly over cooked, but the rest of the crab meat came out all in one perfect piece each time. If you want spicy, get the Cajun with FIRE. I liked the vibe and decor inside, very cozy. Price was comparable for the amount of straight seafood we ate. Would recommend!

Yelp
Everything is good until the security of the cars is terrible, they have a camera in the back right where I parked my truck and they still stole from me, it doesn't matter what the belongings are, it matters the damage they caused to the truck and the little security they have, even a waitress told us that they have been robbed right here but they don't warn you where it is safer to park your car or that their cameras don't work, it's terrible, I just want to warn you that your cars are not safe in this place, be careful

Yelp
No...this ain't it. The crablegs came out cold. Yes...cold. we were the first people in the restaurant, and that was unacceptable. The seasoning....nope. didn't like this. I think it was a combo of all the seasonings? And the catfish was very soft. The owner said it was catfish from Asia, and I was not buying that. Just...a no for me. Even the desert was basty. How can you mess up a cake? It truly tasted old. Soo...nope. dont pass go or collect 200 bucks.

Yelp
WOSRST SEAFOOD PLACE EVERRRRRR!! yall save yalls money pleaseeeeee! this place is nasty!! no seasoning on NOTHING. we got boil with lobster shrimp crab , basket of shrimp. and calamari and let me tell you I had to literally seasoning and make it myself . I had to ask for a bag, spices, and everything myself and that helped but definitely not worth it !

Yelp
Second time here since Valentine's Day. Food did not disappoint. Our waiter Seth was amazing. Our drinks were always full checked on us just the right amount. It's cozy not to many people. It was a great experience again. I hope this place is around a long time. Try the garlic sauce spicy. Just the right amount of heat and amazing flavor.

Yelp
Hook & Reel was a genuinely pleasant experience. I looked around at all the detail in decor, it was all seafood inspired with fishing nets and the like. We were greeted then seated on over to our table. A man placed a bucket on the table and I was told it was for scraps. You are served a complimentary shrimp flavored light crispy and fluffy patty as a starter. The young Maya was our waitress she was a very helpful and delightful person. She went above her duties by making sure we were taken care of. We were very happy with the service. My beloved and I decided to go for the build your own boil option. You pretty much choose your seafood like snow crab, shrimps, scallops, and the variety of other tasty options. Then you choose the type of seasoning like plain, old bay spices, butter, lemon pepper and butter, and the very many others, they have a nice house blend called Hook & Reel. We were given samples to try which ones we wanted. Once you choose the main seafood and spices you then pick out the spicy intensity from mild to fire. We liked mild. And then you have your choice of sides like corn on the cob, rice, red potatoes, broccoli, boiled eggs, and many others. I was very excited to try this restaurant for the first time during Valentine Month. It felt romantic and very lovely to enjoy on a nice quiet Monday. I do think you will find you'll be pleasantly surprised if you give it a try. The experience is worth the drive since this is the only location in our wonderful San Antonio. Take your friends! Take your family! Take Your Love! You will enjoy it!

Yelp
Our second visit, and we weren't disappointed. We enjoyed our boils and the service was great. Cricket was informative about the menu, very personable and a great delight. She's a keeper! We'll def be going back!

Yelp
Crawfish is not fresh. It was reheated up, overcooked and no flavor. DO NOT GET CRAWFISH from this place...it will be a total waste of your money!

Yelp
I arrived and ate solo. I was seated promptly and noticed the restaurant was not very busy. Mya was my waitress. I've never been here before and she took an interest in helping me decide what to order. Her recommendations were spot on! She is well versed in the menu and the items offered. I queried the tea... because it's important to have good tea. She confirmed it's good and freshly brewed here. I ordered the lobster boil with corn and potatoes. For dessert, cheesecake with caramel. My compliments to the chef! The tea and food were very good! But all in all, the service Mya displayed was top notch! I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I visited for a solo dinner. I ordered a crab boil with shrimp, sausage, and scallops. It was $39 something. I also ordered an alcoholic beverage. My waiter was very sweet. She even took pictures for me. My food came out extremely quick. I didn't really like that. It was cold and did not have very much seasoning. I asked for more and it got a little better but the sausage tasted very weenie ish. I don't like that. It was not what I expect from a boil, the potatoes and corn that came in there was so small. My crab was missing some legs, I felt like I was ripped off price wise. I will never go back.

Ariane S.

Yelp
The server Lucy in Hook was so sweet. I very much enjoyed the food. Will be back whenever I come back to Texas.
google avatar

Lelia B.

Yelp
Drink was great! However, the spaghetti was minimal effort. No seasoning and very bland and plain. No Taste. Very disappointing..

Vince B.

Yelp
Extremely slow service. Appetizers were uninspiring. Crab meat fries had little slivers of crab meat on them. Such a small amount on top that you couldn't taste the crab. Fries themselves were meh. Mozzarella cheese sticks were meh. Fried flounder was mush. Had to send it back. And, they never brought me the hushpuppies that I ordered. Server never checked for drink refills. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.

Geek G.

Yelp
The food was tasteless. It was like old food. The waitress was very unfriendly. Just because you say thank you doesn't be you're being polite. She only said thank you after we thanked her for serving us.
google avatar

Nellissa B.

Yelp
My fiancé recommended this spot for a random lunch date! There was not a lot of people there which was great because we were hungry so the wait wouldn't have been long. The server was really attentive and friendly, this is always a plus! The drinks were great, shout out to the bartender. We started off with oysters, OMG they were delicious! We had to go for seconds lol. The boil we ordered was just a good! I have nothing bad to say! Everything was great! I will most definitely be coming back! Great job!

Yelp
This used to be my favorite Indian restaurant and now it's a seafood restaurant. Being born in New Orleans and growing up in Houston, I really appreciate great seafood. My friends and I tried a few things to share. -Steamed Oysters: we ordered the garlic butter and hook & reel flavor. They were the tiniest oysters I've ever seen. They tasted alright, I prefer the hook & reel flavor. -Reel Catch Boil: this came with 3 lb of shrimp, crab legs, mussels, lobster, and potatoes. We ordered the hook & reel flavor. It was huge! I agree with other reviewers, it was bland. The sauce didn't fully marinate into the seafood. I asked for extra sauce to dip my seafood, and it was WAY too salty. It wasn't even flavorful, it just tasted like salt. -Fries: probably my favorite thing that we ordered. They were crispy but again, a little salty for my liking. Overall, I didn't really enjoy the food. I was pleased with the service and the nautical decor though.

Yelp
Today I treated my staff to some seafood Treats prepared by the Hook & Reel Seafood Restaurant. While I love Indian Food, I'm glad Hook & Reel bought the place as I am a seafood connoisseur and wanted SEAFOOD. I patiently eyed the construction over the last several months and jumped at the opportunity to treat the staff for my coworker's baby shower. I stopped by the restaurant on a recon Mission and was given a tour by the owner Julie. Originally we wanted the party at the restaurant, but due to COVID, our leaders wanted us to have separate meals. The restaurant definitely could have held a large party and Julie said they would have set the tables further apart if need be. We went over the menu and I grabbed several to go menus so the team could start salivating over the menu. Our initial party covered 13-15 team members whose meals ranged from appetizers, chicken, salads and the Classic Cajun boils. ( lobster bisque so good and Creamy it will make you want to slap someone's Mama) So that the order would be easier to understand, I dropped off the order a day prior to my event. Julie and Heather went over my order to ensure everything was perfect. While I waited, I enjoyed the ambience of the joint. Being from South Carolina, I need Seafood in my life. The Enormous Crabs on the wall and the Fish Netting on the ceiling made me feel at home. The place was trendy, the music was flowing and the staff was busy preparing for the lunch goers. While I waited, I sipped on some refreshing lemonade and just enjoyed the scene. A seafood restaurant within a stone's throw from my job off of 410 near Babcock. The food was reasonably priced and as you can see from the pictures, my staff loved it. I had to walk around my office for 40 minutes I was so sleepy after lunch. A classic tell tale sign that someone made your food with Love. We loved it so much, we are ordering lunch again on Friday for our managers and leaders. What a wonderful way to hop into Hump day with Buttery Fingers and Seafood smells in your cubicles (LOL). I tried to tell my Boss that seafood at work might be bad, but he said we couldn't eat at the restaurant. Well seafood wafting up your nose for hours after lunch it is LOL. All in all there were some Jealous coworkers in other sections, but I told them where to go : Hook & Reel : GET THERE! HIGHLY Recommended... Also the Sweetie at the Bar opened the door for me and took all the food to the car~ Da Islandgal29412 AKA Ms. Foodie~

Yelp
We decided to try this place instead of our usual seafood place and was pleasantly surprised. It's our new favorite! Prices were reasonable and somewhat lower than usual, and service was awesome! We really loved our server, Dani. She was nice from the beginning and every interaction with other employees was also fun/polite. The manager talked to us a few times too and it was clear she's running a tight ship. The food was delicious! Their signature combo sauce is a little sweet at the mild heat level, so my cousin wants to go hotter next time. We loved the quality of the oysters. We got a side of garlic butter to dip our crab. It was overall a really fun dinner. The drink menu has margs and signature cocktails for just $6. We'll have to try them next time. The free shrimp chip appetizer is great too. We grew up eating them. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Called in & ordered 1lb crawfish old bay butter & the young lady on the phone was very friendly. My order came up to $11.91She advised she would text me once my order was done. Within a few mins I received that text. Shot down to the restaurant and picked up my order. Speedy check out. The inside of the restaurant was nice & clean. It was pretty quiet for a Thursday evening. From the looks of the Yelp review no lie the crawfish were HUGE ! They threw in two potato's & a pc of corn. I honestly am only giving 4 stars bc the crawfish were cooked too long. I am not sure if they were over cooked or maybe not live when being cooked.Other than that it was pretty good. I may bring my family in for dine in.

Jessica Y.

Yelp
I got 1 lb of shrimp (head on) and added noodles with broccoli. The seafood quality of the shrimp was good but the sauce was severely lacking. I got their house sauce but it was bland and wasn't thick at all. They need a new blend with more seasoning.

Yelp
Came here after a horrible experience that day at red hook. Food was great, waiter was awesome. It's a little to expensive. Not extremely, just value to amount of food you get it was. I would still recommend you go on a date night or celebration. The sauces were amazing! I recommend you order a side of white rice, for your left over sauce. It was a surprisingly great end to our meal! Red hook could learn a lot from them on customer service!
google avatar

Dani M.

Yelp
This is the slowest Hook'n Reel I have ever been to....so the quiet was kinda nice. The food was on point! The service was not. To add to our experience, the power went out as we were finishing our meal. No one came to check on us over 20 minutes the power was out. Then after the power came on, it took them a very long time to close out our ticket. The place was not busy! Their sense of urgency to provide us service was very disappointing.

Yelp
Omg! Watch out other seafood boil resturants in San Antonio...Hook & Reel is in town!! With the variety of boils and other dishes, there is something for everyone. Super super impressed with the level of service and staff knowledge. We ordered the snow crab with the Hook & Reel special seasoning at spicy level and it was perfect. I'm a medium picante sauce eater and was able to handle the spicy level with no problem. Corn and potato are included with these boils, unlike some other restaurants which cost extra. Also, price overall was less expensive than others. Bonus- bonus! We will definitely be back! Thank you Paul for outstanding service!

Yelp
4 stars because the food was great! Very flavorful! The atmosphere was quiet, very calm, nice! Let's move on to the service because it was so bad! We went around lunch time/ish. A few co workers gathered together for a nice meal and drinks. Oh no. Our waitress was hating her job. She sat us and took years to come back to ask us what we wanted to drink. And that is how she said it. What do y'all wanna drink. We put in the order and again, took forever to get drinks. Then she took our order and was annoyed by our questions. Food came out pretty quick, we started noticing another waitress helping out the other patrons open and empty their bags but our waitress was no where to be found! Not that we needed help with bags. Lol. But we never got a refill on anything. No napkins. Didn't ask if everything was ok. Just vanished. Then we saw her chillin at a table having a break and drinking her drink. No one to replace her. We didn't see her again until we were done. But we didn't want to be done! We wanted more drinks and we wanted to stay and chat. She finally shows up with our tickets! She smelled like freshly smoked cigarettes and she was on her cell phone arguing with someone. It was ridiculous. Restaurant was practically empty and no service at all. I will not be going back at all. There were 7 of us. None of us going back. Then to top it off we were forced to leave 18% tip!

Gabby Z.

Yelp
I went to eat here this past Sunday and everything was great, waitress service was great but when checking out our ticket was 73.07$ I rounded it up to an even 80$ so I left a 6.93$ tip and a few days past and my boyfriend card got charger more than 80$ from here so we called and they said I put 16$ as the tip and I'm very well aware I didn't and they said since they receipt said 16$ for the tip there was nothing they could do. So I decided to move past it but now my boyfriend's card is being charged 90$ from there restaurant! So I'm not sure if they kept his card on file or why it keeps getting charged different prices over and over again.

Yelp
Hubby and I have been wanting to try this place for while but hadn't made it out. Finally went last night and was so impressed. Started out with a few cold beers- and they were COLD. I hate going somewhere and getting served warm beer with my meal. A dozen oysters with all the preferred condiments. The oysters were a good size too :). We each got 2 pounds crawfish boil with the OG Cajun spicy. Man, that was sooo delicious. I loved that the potatoes and corn weren't over or undercooked like I experience with a lot of boils. The flavor was spot on. Don't want to forget our server who was super attentive and thoughtful! Will definitely have to add this to the weekend rotation. Can't wait to try all the flavors!

Yelp
My niece put me on this fairly new spot and boy oh boy I'm sure glad she did! I've recently discovered my love for seafood boils thanks to all the mukbang videos I binge watch on YouTube lol One day my niece brought by her lunch to my house, me being the nosy Aunt I'm like I know you sharing right?! Lol She said of course! I was blown away at how good it was. Perfectly seasoned, just enough spice and everything was piping hot! I was impressed! I was just waiting on my niece to leave because I was ready to order my own and I wouldn't be sharing lol! A few days later I was craving seafood and I thought ouuuu let's give it a try. I customized my boil to my liking getting shrimp head off with sausage corn & potatoes. Yummy! And not to mention the spices, I got the hook & reel house blend to adorn my boil and the flavor was bomb. Com! I placed my order in house so it could be piping hot! While I waited I ordered myself a margarita and rum punch to pass the time. To my surprise while I was enjoying my libations my niece walked up to me! I guess I wasn't the only one craving seafood again lol she was like its soooooo good, I had to bring my boyfriend to try it lol I took pics of they're food when I walked over to there table. He boyfriend said the black mussels were delicious! Once my order was ready I hugged my niece goodbye and quickly grabbed my food to make a dash home to enjoy my food. I got home and just like the first time I tried it, it was delicious! Hot, juicy, good flavoring, fulfilling! I also ordered a side of hush puppies which were pretty good as well! I rate Hook & Reel 5 out of 5 stars because the food was on point! The restaurant is also pretty cool inside I would love to dine in once everything is safe again, but my overall experience was pleasant. If your in the San Antonio area and want some good ol seafood Hook & Reel is your place!

Jacsanne L.

Yelp
My son thought we would try a new spot for dinner!! He treated us out to Hook & Reel, and I couldn't be more grateful. Our server Ezra was on point with making us feel super welcomed! He made sure we were OK several times, which I loved! We ordered 4 different types of boils, which was approx 180 bucks total. Well worth the amount of seafood that you receive and the flavors and choices are endless!! Each boil was fantastic! The atmosphere is super chill and makes you feel like you walked into a beachy heaven!! It's definitely a great first impression, and I will be returning many times now that most Joe's Crab Shack locations have been replaced or closed!! Located off 410 and Summit Parkway is awesome, and I will be returning!!

Yelp
Haven't been in a while but if you want scallops and don't want to pay scallop prices, this is always my go to. Really courteous staff who helped to seat my grandma in her wheelchair.

Yelp
Decent but no wow factor. I was in San Antonio visiting for work, and found this place through a search. I ordered crawfish (it's still off season so it was frozen, with sausage, corn, and hard boiled eggs. I'll start by saying the crawfish meat was completely flavorless. I'm not sure if it was the way they cooked it, or the fact that it was frozen, but honestly not worth the money. However the corn, egg, and potatoes were delicious. My husband ordered the king crab legs and steamed oysters with broccoli and he really enjoyed his meal.

Yelp
HARD PASS... really wanted to like this place however I can't rate it amazingly with good conscious. We got the $51 boil combo whichever one that is we did lobster tail, the crab legs and shrimp. The lobster tail was over cooked, crab legs tasted disgustingly dirty that we only ate a part of one single leg and the shrimp was tough. The sauce was more like a gravy with a chalky flour taste and consistency. The oysters were steamed okay but the chalky hook and reel sauce made it hard to enjoy. One was fire and the other was spicy but neither were hot or spiced and tasted extremely bland. After spending $80 at this place and leaving completely disappointed that when the server bagged the leftover crab it went straight into the trash. Service was okay and even attempted to bring out seasoning but the experience is too expensive to do again. I do not recommend for the seafood boil. On the positive it was clean inside at lunch time

Yelp
We decided to change up crab night by trying a new spot. I like that the menu was a bit different, prices for drinks are cheaper and the boils came with potatoes and corn vs a la cart. The night was slower so we were seated right away and chose the bar area to watch the game and it's always livelier by the bar. I loved the table paper which has the maze, word search and tic tac toe cane in it. Nice touch even for adults! Of course as a crab boils lover I didn't look at much else other than the crab boil. What stood out in comparison to our standard crab spot was that you could order half and full boils loved this! It helps to budget better and only get what you need. The other plus was a good long list of seafood options that you may not see on traditional menus like clams and scallops. I ordered the snow crabs with head on shrimp. There was no need to order sides as it came with two good pieces of potatoes and corn. I tried the hook and reel sauce spicey and liked it. I saw other comments where the sauce is gravy like but honestly I thought it gave some stickiness to the sauce to bind to the meat. The bag came out nice and puffed up letting me know it was full of steam and it was hot!!! This will always impress me. My husband ordered the crab poboy and I was super shocked to find out they filled it with real crab. Now it looked great but I do see how they make it appear full with lettuce and tomato. Nonetheless it was still a good sandwich and no fries were hot and crispy. No complaints. Now on to the frozen margaritas The drink prices are phenomenal and just because of this we will be back because it cuts our bill lower. However, the frozen margarita mix is a no go. Sorry and we are not time margarita drinkers. It tasted like frozen ice and lacked flavor no flavor. Had to send it back and the bartender told us the frozen mix was not the greatest but on the rocks was better. So we switch and 10000% better. This would have really ruined our experience having bad drinks but the bartender turned this around. Overall: Loved the bartender service and honestly on what to order. Drink prices makes this a competitive choice. Menu has a lot of good choices and variety. Crab boil felt and tasted like a real boil with hot, flavorful sauce, good portion, cooked perfectly. I hope the next experience is consistent and please get a better quality frozen margarita mix. That is all, a pleased customer!

Yelp
Visited last Friday on a date night with my wife and was hankering some Cajun broil and we visited Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood. Upon arriving my wife made a reservation and there was no wait told the hostess of our reservation we were quickly seated. Let's rate the service first. The hostess quickly seated us and our server arrived quickly after. Our server assured our needs were met and our drinks were never empty so kudos to the exceptional service. Now for the food, we begin with mozzarella sticks which were ok crisp and perfect mozzarella overall we did enjoy it what we expect from mozzarella sticks. Now for the Cajun shrimp and snow crab broil was pretty good had the medium seasoning myself with hot garlic butter. The seasoning I had better and also more snow crab elsewhere as for the quality was pretty good especially with the head off shrimp. The snow crab was a bit dry however, the red potatoes were good and the corn a bit dry. My wife ordered the breaded Buffalo wings which were good and huge portions with nicely seasoned fries. Overall the service was great and the food was good, I'd recommend others seeking a Cajun broil to give it a try. As for the snow crab I may came in an off day. Until next time Hook & Reel!

Yelp
The food is awesome, the atmosphere is great. You. Truly feel like you by the water when in here. The staff and service is always great we have been 3 times now and have had excellent servers. I love boils and having such a variety to choose from to make it personalized to what you want. And let's not forget the drinks, super tasty I would recommend and will be going back soon.

Yelp
Food was very bland, appetizers were not fully cooked , I did not enjoy. We actually only stopped here because it was closer but definitely regret that decision

Yelp
Despite the kitch on the walls this place is very clean and not overly done. The hostess is very alternative but very friendly and professional. She smiled, sat me and was very articulate. I appreciate that she wasn't short as it was mid afternoon and a bit slow. I imagine this is the best time to come and enjoy a meal. Most of the staff are very attentive as the neighboring tables have been checked on several times. Wish I could say the same. The menu is bright with a large print and easy to read. I started with crab bites and they were delicious. Hot and full of flavor a great bar snack or appetizer. So many options on the menu specializing in different boils. Priced competitive to other places. I opted for a po boy with Cajun fries. It is really good and filling on its own. I'm enjoying this random stop. The bar looks good if you want a drink and the lunch specials seem good as well and are served till 4. Take a chance and check them out. Editors note: My server was not rude at all, in fact she spoke very nicely . However as I was finishing up after not being checked on I asked for a refill and I got a to-go cup. That is a breach of server etiquette. " I can no longer finish my meal or relax a little? You want me out immediately? That's what this seems to be saying. Big No No.

Yelp
We were here tonight with a very large party. The food was amazing! Lucy took care of us and her attention to everyone was top class! She contributed to making our Birthday celebration spectacular!
