Remembering Tallywackers, Dallas’s ‘Hooters for Gay Men’ | Eater

"A short-lived, male-staffed restaurant that opened in May 2015 in Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood and closed after roughly a year; it intentionally flipped the 'breastaurant' formula by featuring scantily clad men as servers. Staff were required by local health code to wear tank tops early in the evening and often went shirtless later, pairing that with red or gray boxer-briefs as the signature uniform. The venue targeted a largely gay clientele (while also attracting straight women) and marketed itself with overt sexual innuendo—menu gimmicks included punny sections like “abb-itizers” and “cock-tails,” a tongue-in-cheek S&M Burger topped with Swiss and mushrooms, and a house sundae served with a prominently displayed banana—yet it operated as a restaurant rather than a strip club, enforcing rules against groping and forbidding staff from hooking up with diners. Despite playful branding and a menu that also offered items such as fried Brussels sprouts, flatbreads and a croque-monsieur, the concept failed to sustain business and never reopened after announcing a move." - Tim Forster

Although the food was good, getting it to our table was very, very slow. So was getting the drinks we had to request refills or even the 1st rounds over and over. The atmosphere is always ok. Musc good.. just the delay in getting anything l. Thats why they should write it all down so they don't have to keep asking what we ordered.

Worst food ever! Group of 12 and not a single person wanted to finish their food. Out of 10 wings. I only could eat 2! They were room temp, greasy, no flavor and overcooked. But the ranch was good…. Fries are greasy! Friend ordered fish tacos and she took 3 bites and was done. One friend ate 1/3 of her chicken sandwich because greasy and no flavor.. one friend ate maybe 1/2 her hamburger due to the long wait but she said it wasn’t bad… one of guests ordered mozzarella sticks and said it tasted like fish.. so not a good experience! Waitress was super nice. We waited from 8:45 to 9:50 to get our food and it wasn’t busy.. we were all hungry after meetings all day and not a single plate was cleaned But waitress was nice.

Greatly disappointed with my to go order. These are the smallest wings I have ever had from this location. It was my 14 year old son’s treat for dinner and it was definitely not worth his $40. We have came to this location many times and the wings are usually way bigger, so this is something we definitely did not expect. I wonder if this is normal for to go orders and different for dine in orders.

I have never been this disappointed in my life visiting a Hooters for their world famous wings. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because the service was ok and the buffalo salad wasn't that bad either. I ordered 15 wings and the order looked like they had sat under a heating lamp for 3 weeks before they sold them to me. In town for a convention and was bragging to my wife about Hooters famous wings. These wings look like they weren't feeling well before they were cooked. She looked at the order and laughed and said I'm good. Hooters just lost a long lifetime customer.

We had a big party so we expected a long wait for food. When I got my burger I was pissed. My burger buns were all burnt. Like you really think someone can eat this??? The drinks are not good. Everyone in the party who ordered drinks sent them back and when we received the second drinks there were no better than the first. I usually have a good experience but I wasted my money this evening.

So I finally tried the Philly Cheesesteak. It’s really good. I did add some ranch but it came with the wings! Mozzarella sticks, of course delicious! I tried the Beach retreat (purple). One beside it is tequila and Red Bull. Then I tried the hooters punch. Everything was good. I didn’t eat the wings..I don’t do spicy!

I don't know how Hooters is still a thing but I had a great time here. Came after a Mavs game and stayed for a few hours. Had some drinks and some food. Oddly the Cesar salad was amazing.. the odd part is me ordering a cesar salad at Hooters. Friendly staff and would come back to this location. I did have a hard time getting into this place however. We just couldn't seem to find the entrance. Took a minute

Need a new cook stat! Ordered curly fries, wings, and queso. I took most of my food home to pop into the air fryer bc fries were not fully cooked and wings were cold. Our server was nice and attentive. The quality of food is not up to par. Hope things improve, as the location is in a prime spot.
