Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Rating: 3.8/5 [delivery] We heard great things about Hopdoddy and finally decided to try their burgers. Two burgers without sides came out to about $40, which felt pricey considering they were standard sized. Cadillac Wagyu ($22.20): The price on Postmates is misleading. It shows $19.70, but when you click it, the default is Wagyu beef which adds $2.50, bringing the total to $22.20. There is no $0 patty option, so this burger can never actually be $19.70. It comes with a half pound Wagyu beef patty, Swiss cheese, steakhouse bacon, crispy fried onions, steak sauce, truffle aioli, roasted tomato, arugula, and egg buns. This burger was delicious, flavorful, and cohesive. The Wagyu patty was juicy and cooked well, and the egg buns were soft and better than typical burger buns. Farmhouse Deluxe ($16.20) with Grass Fed Bison ($3.75): This one comes with egg buns, your choice of meat patty, steakhouse bacon, cheddar cheese, a Vital Farms egg, crispy onions, Doddy mayo, lettuce, tomato, and sliced onions. Unfortunately it was just okay. It did not have as much flavor as the Cadillac, and the bison patty was incredibly dry. Even adding sriracha did not help. If you want a good bison burger, I recommend Eureka instead. It is about the same price, but the burger is bigger and tastes better.

Hopdoddy’s El Bandito burger was solid—bold flavors, fresh toppings, and the patty was cooked well. The Truffle Fries were crisp and the truffle dip added a nice touch, though the fries could have had a bit more truffle flavor. Service was efficient and the atmosphere casual. Overall, good quality for the price. I’d give this a 4 out of 5—worth trying if you’re looking for a reliable burger spot in Austin.

This was my first visit to Austin, and Hopdoddy at Plaza Saltillo was my very first bite of Austin food and wow, it did not disappoint! The burger was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor, and made with super fresh ingredients. I also tried their house-made watermelon cucumber lemonade and it was so refreshing — the perfect drink for a hot Texas day. Great vibes, friendly staff, and an awesome way to kick off my Austin trip.

My experience at Hopdoddy burger was fantastic. From the service received as we entered the Burger bar all the way to the end of our meal in shakes. The customer service was fantastic. The workers were kind and very helpful. The food is fantastic. We had Hot burgers. Great fries and the shake was amazing. I would highly recommend going to Hopdoddy's in Austin. I think their reviews speak for themselves! That was the reason we went in and we were not let down! Great atmosphere and a super enjoyable supper. I highly recommend giving this Burger bar a shot!

I’ve probably been to this hop doddy 15+ times and have not ever written a review, but this is by far my favorite hop doddy. The workers are chill, the food is always great, and I have no complaints. I always get their sliders, which are not on their regular menu and not a lot of people know about them, which is surprising. They are on their happy hour menu, and available all day anytime. I also love that they have mini shakes on the menu, which are so good, especially if you do not want to drink 600 cal with the regular shake. I’ve tried their green chili, queso fries, hot honey, sage fries, sweet potato fries, and the original truffle aïoli fries, all four are so good!

Great service and atmosphere! The food was pretty good, and great fry options — the sweet potato fries were definitely a favorite. Many sauces to choose from. Not a big fan of the chicken lollipops though.

One of the best restaurant experienc we had in Austin ... where it's not easy to find a decent restaurant with not overpaying extremely. Loved especially the burger in a bowl, but also the rest has been awesome quality, delicious food. Love also the outside dining option. Super helpful and very friendly staff. Would visit anytime again ... anytime ... believe me.

Overall had a wonderful experience here. I was greeted and served by Alan and I've just gotta say that he was so welcoming and personable; in general it seems like the whole team here is being treated well and it shows through how they are carrying themselves while working here. This might be a controversial statement... but if a place does tossed buffalo tenders I'll go there a million times over even some of the best buffalo wing spots, and this place met and even exceeded that expectation. They give you like 6 thoroughly breaded and sauced tenders for just $11 and the buffalo sauce is just the perfect amount of tangy and spicy... just wow. My wife also loved her burger and the fries were great as well, but what will keep me coming back are those buffalo tenders... sheesh.

We visited this spot while at a coaches convention in the area. For cocktails, we ordered the Pink Man (tequila based) 7/10 and the Texas Sling (vodka based) 8/10. For food: We ordered the Loaded Nacho fries (7/10), Farmhouse deluxe 10/10 (no crispy onions), crispy chicken bacon ranch 8/10 ( no crispy onions and no cheese). All of the food was fresh and cooked to order. The only thing I'd suggest is seasoning.... However, it was nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix! Giovanni was an EXCELLENT server (10/10) and His recommendations were all on point! He knew that we were visiting the area and made our visit worthwhile!

Went for a quick lunch. We got the bison burger, the Nashville chicken sandwich, and a side of fries. Glad we got the small order of fries because it was still a good bit of fries. We both liked our meals. My husband thought the Nashville was good just a little bit too much going on, and the burger was amazing just super heavy. Highly recommend.

We stopped in here for lunch. Burger was amazing, So good I forgot to take a pic. Their gluten free bun is edible. Those gluten free folks will understand. The fries were yummy Parmesan truffle and shareable. My friend also ordered a shake. Great place for burgers, fries and a shake.

I went to dinner with two of my friends on a Wednesday night around 5:30 PM. When we entered the restaurant had a steady amount of people, but we were able to get a table right away. Around 6 PM, the line went out the front door, I would assume the after-work crowd? Ambiance: This particular Hopdoddy is found at the center of a very developed area so it still has its newer-feel. Like other Hopdoddy's, it has its bar at the center of the restaurant and mostly booths with some high top tables in the mix. Service: You order your food at the register and then are given a table #--there are employees who bring your food and anything else you'll order, but I wouldn't call them "servers/waiters." Everyone was really nice and professional while we were there. Food: I've been going to Hopdoddy since 2010 and for the most part have enjoyed the food. In this visit I ordered a "limited time" burger called "The Roosevelt Burger"--grass-fed bison with goat cheese and fig jam. It wasn't my favorite, I typically don't mind sweet, but there was just too much sweetness for me in this particular burger. I shared a bowl of Truffle Fries with my burger as well. They were crisp and the truffle aioli is always delicious. I can't get over the fact that they do not serve "Maine Root" brand sodas anymore!! So sad that they're not at most of the locations in the Austin area. Overall, everything was just "okay," nothing special--feels like Hopdoddy is losing its quality and uniqueness in my opinion. Maybe I'll be back, or maybe I'll find a better burger elsewhere.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their burgers as I always thought of Hopdoddy as being more of a bar. The service was great here and everyone was friendly. I tried out the Rise N' Shine Burger and it was pretty damn good! The burger was cooked perfectly and everything on it meshed well. From the bacon, to the potato strips, fried egg and the maple aioli and the maple bacon dusted bun it was very delicious. Of course the ice cold draft beer always hits the spot!

Visited in Austin, Tx. Burgers were so good-juicy and tender. frise and sause are also delicious. Service was soso. We asked extra hot sause and mayo. They forgot to our request..but over all, good!! There was clean and nice. Not too small and good location. Nearby wholefood market and pretty enough parking spaces in the building.

Margs are delicious and the truffle fries are AMAZING wow. Their burgers are also always a hit. I definitely recommend. Also, great happy hour deals!

This is one of the best burgers I've ever had. I just ordered a classic with cheese and bacon, subbed in pickles for the onions. It was juicy and cooked perfectly. I also ordered a small hand cut fries with it and the meal was the perfect amount. I wish they had a hopdoddy's where I live. It will always be on my list for a meal when I visit Austin.

It was sort of confusing as it looked like sit down but the servers were crowding the order station. They also assign a seat when you order which is a first. Plenty of bar and outdoor seating. I prefer chicken and definitely liked the portion. It had an avocado sauce which was a nice kick. I didn't want regular fries, tried something different from sweet fries too and got truffle fries which was a huge portion to share for even 3-4 people. I was going to have a water but the shakes looked too good to pass up. It was delicious. The price was high for just one but portions were great for a fast casual spot.

This Hopdoddy location is awesome! It's never packed during lunch and the service is always great! Hopdoddy in general is a great burger restaurant in the Austin area. This location is also up to date with 21st century compared to their south Congress location. They have TV screens for menus. Ordering fries here even though they are super skinny. They feed 2-5 five people. But I can understand why they are small fries because they don't want you to get full too fast. They want you to enjoy their great tasting burgers. Parking is public paid parking or one of the near by garages for free.

10/10 I always have a great experience! Their burgers taste fresh and delicious every single time. The staff is always friendly and helpful which makes such a difference. My kids love the grilled cheese and my husband loves the doddy melt. My favorite is the Kale Caesar Salad with Ahi Tuna. I've been to a few of their locations and the experience is always the same which is why my and my family will always come back. Margs are 10/10 too! :)

This restaurant was recommended to me. Stopped in around d 11:10am on a Friday. Nice crowd. Started to fill up at noon. Lots of natural light, plenty of seating- booths, high and low tables and a bar area with seating. The good music playing was at a good level. You walk towards the back to order your food and they bring your food to you. I got the classic burger and fries. Absolutely delicious. The burger, great flavored, was cooked the way I asked and the in-house made bun was perfect, it was like eating a lot of bread. The fries we got were shoestring fries. The staff was friendly and a staff member stopped at our table to check in with us. They have carry out service too

I hadn't been to Hopdoddy in quite some time and visited the East Austin (5th St) location on a recent Friday evening. My daughter and I placed our orders and were directed to a corner booth. Our small order of fries arrived well ahead of our burgers. The fries were cold, so we probably should have sent them back but hunger won out. The burgers were great, although they were a little less done in the middle than as described. I had the Llano Poblano, and my daughter had a classic with added bacon. Hopdoddy delivers a quality burger product at a premium price. To my way of thinking, the price is rather high for the amount of food... both burgers and fries. I wasn't particularly impressed.

I don't normally leave reviews because, well, why would I? But damn that was a good burger.

Three of us got chicken from here and all three of us spent the next 48 hours with food poisoning throwing up. Do NOT eat the chicken.

This was my first time here! The menu can be a little overwhelming at first , so it may help to grab a menu and hangout to the side until you are ready to order when you get to the counter! Customer service was phenomenal! We sat outside, but kept getting bothered by flies so an employee helped us relocate our food to an indoor table! I also had a milkshake, and it destroys anything shake shack! The burgers and fries were also very delicious! I was pleased with the temperature and cook of my burger. I'd gladly come back!

As we were waiting for our AirBnb to become available, and the city closing due to the weather, we stumbled upon Hopdoddy right below from where we were staying. This review is for their happy hour because that's all I experienced. Let me just say $5 drinks and apps, you cannot beat that! $5 for draft beers and cocktails, plus their house margarita. I dunno what I was thinking of ordering a frozen margarita in below freezing temps, but it hit the spot. Sometimes at happy hour, they give you smaller size drinks, but the size of the marg and the beer were massive. Marg was pretty tasty, and a good selection of beers available at HH pricing. The $5 pretzel bites is what I ended up ordering. It came with a side of cheese dip. The pretzel bites didn't have much flavor to them and they leaned on the hard side. For $5 though, not a bad deal. Definitely recommend stopping in for the happy hour. I think it's Mon-Fri from 3-6pm, at least that's what their website say. If you are looking for to-go cocktails, I seen them putting together this giant pouches, which would've been perfect for that 3hr wait at the one bbq spot lol

The burgers were delicious. Service and ambiance was great too. Would love to return again when I'm in the area. 10/10 recommend!

The burger was pretty dang good. The wait time was long. I wanted to sit at the bar and the server was rude. Don't get the nacho cheese fries. They're over done and you can't eat them with a fork with all the fixings.

This restaurant never disappoints. Some of the best fries you'll ever eat. Branch out and try the Parmesan truffle or buffalo fries. Yum! The classic burger is SO good, as well as the good night, good cause burger. The meat is fresh and cooked perfectly every time. The buns are buttered and grilled for a soft yet crispy texture. The bacon is always crispy perfection too. We like to get the mini shakes which are not only cute but just the right portion size.

For a burger place with a supposedly chef inspired menu, and having waited years to try this spot, I was VERY underwhelmed. It was a burger. Nothing special about it. And the Parm fries weren't special either. On top of that, I went for to-go, at a non-busy time, on a Sunday, and got there a few minutes before my order was supposed to be ready, introduced myself to the guys working to-go by name, and then sat in full view of their bar. I then entertained myself on my phone and nearly 20 minutes after my order was due, I walked over there to check on it and it was sitting on the shelf waiting. They didn't bother to be proactive and bring me my order while I sat there... Didn't do much for making me care about coming back here, ever.

Hopdoddy is always a solid choice if you're feeling burgers and fries. Always good service everytimeI go, regardless of the location. I was very excited when they brought back their happy hour, but only to be disappointed. Pre-covid their HH included $5 burger of the month, now there is no burger special or discount during HH. The HH fries are just "house fries" not even their good fries like truffle, queso or sweet potato. Their HH is no longer worth it, won't be back for HH.

Walk in and order - then they assign you a seat, bring your food to you and that's that. Not what I expected but it was damned efficient. The food was great. The staff was friendly, helpful and fast. The margaritas were great - but they took a minute to arrive. The place was clean but a little loud - you could still have a conversation though about wasn't too bad. The food was by far the winner though - best burger, fries and shake that I ever had in a minute.

This is one of my favorite burger joints!! I don't eat beef so I'm always happy when burger spots have chicken Pattie's or a veggie patty. Before the pandemic they had Turkey but quickly discontinued having Turkey and they have never brought it back which is tragic but the chicken patty's have become my favorite. The burgers are so good. The milkshakes are just sinfully good and I love the sweet potato fries and truffle fries. No matter what you get here you will be a happy camper. One thing they don't take cash. This is a cashless franchise so make sure you have a card. If you're wanting to order to go. Due to a staff shortage this location is not on the mobile app and they don't answer the phone for phone orders. The wait isn't too bad after you order. Don't walk but run to try this place out! You will not regret it.

Sorry I didn't go there but can I just recommend 12/10 on the burger! I don't typically love or rave about burgers but this one right here And if you like mushrooms it's a perfect amount. Then I added bacon Instead of fries because it was late I did there side car side salad and that house dressing is sooo flavorful like the burger. I can say I did do regenerative 100% grass fed and since I just wasn't sure I did cook the patty with no pink because typically I do pink. I couldn't go a moment without acknowledging this place. Thank you for my before midnight snack. Grateful for DoorDash but if anyone is looking for an amazing burger go here!

Great happy hour. Large and strong drinks. Liked the margarita and mule over the Paloma. Loved the pretzel bites. Did also order the Thunderbird which was a nice instead of ordering beef.

Paid $80 for 4 classic burgers and 2 fries. Burgers not worth it raw in the center not cooked all the way through so no one finished once we noticed. All the kids compared the taste to Burger King. Was too salty for me. the Nacho fries were good

Long slow moving line, long wait for burger, burger came out incorrect. Horrible location. The staff should have to work at other locations to learn how to do their job correctly. Wait.... maybe it's the management?

Ordered online and food arrived well packaged and warm. Delicious food. Burger and Brussel sprouts and salad. Will be ordering again and again and again.

SO SO GOOD! This is the juiciest burger, if not the best hamburger I have ever had. I would come back go austin! I had the shroom burger with goat cheese and mushrooms. The goat cheese provides the perfect melty creaminess without being too heavy. The el Diablo has just the right amount of jalapeños so there is a bit of spice without the being too overwhelming. The sauce is also good! The Parmesan fries were a great addition to complete the meal. So good! I absolutely love the bun it is light airy and has a nice sweetness to it. It complements the burgers well. Everything is made in house= Freshly ground hamburger Patties, buns, ice cream, and fries.

I had the Burger if the Month for March 2023 - Truffle Mac. I did sub the burger for a chicken patty. I was expecting more from the Mac and cheese, however, it wasn't too bad. I also had the multigrain bun. I'm guessing that's why it fell apart after the first bite. The kale Caesar was very tasty!

Ordered the kids tender meal it came out to 9.20$ and they only gave me 2 TENDERS, doesn't sound like a fair deal to me at all.

This too has been on my austin bucket list for years and when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. It's a burger joint with a bar right in the middle, what more could you want in the middle if the day? Burger was fire, atmosphere was laid back, great place to just grab some food and hang

Delicious bowl of fries!! Burger was great but messy. The restaurant itself needs a good cleaning. I watched staff wipe table with a dry napkin. No sanitizing or cleaner... at this point we were finished eating.

I was excited to come to their happy hour but it was just okay. The happy hour menu was very limited, with only 2-3 app options and discounted drinks. I ended up trying the house marg and fries from their hh menu. The marg was much larger than I expected and overall a bang for your buck, but when I went at 5pm they didn't have the frozen option. The fries that we added Parmesan and truffle to were well seasoned but lacked any crisp. I also ordered the El Diablo burger, which in my opinion, was a bit too spicy. The spice overpowered the flavors of the burger. I would not recommend getting it unless you truly love spice and jalepeno peppers.

When it comes to service, the staff there was very professional and knowledgeable, they offers suggestions and was patient when I was indecisive.

Couldn't figure out what I was in the mood for but my Lyft driver recommended this spot. Big open space, great AC, order and pay at the register. I ordered Thunderbird burger and it was great, cooked perfectly and enjoyed the bacon in it. Burger does not include fries, it is sold separately. Workers are attentive!

This is my second time visiting this location. I tried to review it the first time and the location wasn't listed. My apologies for not taking pictures this time. The Burgers are exceptional at this location. The best of all Hops I have tried. This is my 4th location to try and is second to none. Keep up the great work and keep hopping.

Very disappointed in this experience. I havent been to Hopdoddy in a while, but this time I wanted to check out the east side location and left feeling ripped off. The burgers were tiny by comparison to the old days, and while the price was reasonable for the size, I used to have to take half home with me and this time I was still hungry after finishing it. The shakes, which I used to love were watery and melted, and tasted terrible. The trouffle fries were still good, but out of all the items we ordered, if the only good thing is the fries, you have a real problem. Im sad because I raved about Hopdoddy to my GF and she had a pretty lame first experience. For 60 bucks, 2 people should be able to have a damn good burger, fries, and shakes, but sadly, this was nowhere near the mark.

Love this place! Here for happy hour...I've never been to a place where happy hour is half off of EVERYTHING! Fries? Burgers? Jameson? All 50% off! And a shout out to Marlin - best bartender (and staff) ever! Come check it out and say hi!

Food was amazing and ingredients are a healthier option but don't taste like you're eating healthy! Lee was awesome and super helpful to show us the ropes on our first time here. He also made some amazing drinks. Will be back!

First of all the variety of burgers is great they have something for every taste and you can add or take off as much as you want , we've been to a couple and it's also pet friendly, meat is always on point and the truffle shareable fries are to die for love this place and vibe!

I ordered a burger vía door dash and I was very disappointed. I couldn't taste anything but salt on both the burger and fries. The fries were also very hard, not good at all. I hadn't ordered from here in a while and will def not be ordering again.

The food is great but they just add way to much salt on the truffle fries, other then that the burgers are great.

This is the best place to have a bun less burger. Prime meat, extra salad and it's all a good thing.
