Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Over all a good restaurant lots of varieties of burgers and well stocked bar. There are lots of seats, very clean and servers did a good job. There were a lot of friends sitting in groups of 6 to 8. Sports on TV. Our kids seemed to enjoy their food and the atmosphere.

very impressed with customer service at vineyard location. classic burger, bacon jam double burger and parmesan truffle fries were excellent. will definitely come here again.

Was excited to try this place when I saw they had grass fed burgers and gluten free. Stay away! We had to wait 24 extra mins than our quoted time online, I don’t mind waiting but an average ticket time for a burger should run 12-15 mins, which our order time alotted for. Well 24 mins of waiting allowed me to observe many health violations such as the food runner never washing his hands after bussing tables, sorting dishes, drinking from his personal glass, then running food, and he packaged our order. The kitchen A/C vents have build up from the grease and dust. When I brought it up they said these kids don’t understand. Well it wasn’t just the kids, a lady who was going back and forth from the dish pit with one glove never changed her single glove or washed her hands. When we got our burgers home they were dry and inedible, and not to mention the hair I found after my second bite! I wouldn’t return here if they offered.

Nice establishment. Staff took some time, but overall, it was good. Good food selection. The food we ordered was great. I don't know if the fact that I haven't eaten a burger is some time had some influence. But it tasted AWESOME! Fries were good, but nothing extraordinary. They did accommodate our request for a deconstructed tuna burger to tuna salad. No problem. It was cooked to order and was great. Nice place, prices about normal. I would go back.

I wish that my late husband Harry could've tried their Wagyu burgers before passing away last year. He and I are always on the hunt for the best burgers in SATX and by far, Hopdoddy has Blown all other burger joints out of the water, because theirs are phenomenal in taste texture and appearance and I highly recommend their wagyu burgers and their fries with the honey and zest to them. They were absolutely delicious!!!! Our new date night place and church gathering because my Pastor Earl loves a great burger and I'm bringing the whole congregation here to eat. Just wonderful, and I wish I knew of them years ago, before my husband passed away, but it's never too late to share with others this fabulous place to eat outstanding wagyu burger. I stress the Wagyu because I haven't eaten their regular burgers as if yet. Wagyu is just too delicious to change for any other meat.

All I had was a plain cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. My burger had A LOT of gristle in it, but overall experience was nice. Place was clean... stay away from the habenero 🌶... my friends didn't think it would be that bad... they were wrong. You've been warned. ⚠️

Food is always great. The burgers are some of the best for a chain, and the fries are amazing Service is bad. - I ordered the fancy wagyu burger and was told they were out of wagyu but they could make the same burger with regular beef at the same price. - I was told the "big Larry" margarita was sold in the large goblet but they brought out a normal pint glass and said "oh sorry that's only for happy hour". *Happy hour is no longer on Fridays* - I was brought a melted "frozen" margarita and asked if it was okay because their machine wasn't frozen yet. I declined and said I'd just wait for the frozen one, which they brought out right after. Basically pawning off their trash. I guess I'm the sucker for tipping before I get my drink/food

Hopdoddy Burger offered an all-around amazing experience! I tried all their fries--sweet potato, truffle, nacho, and even the Parmesan Brussels leaves. My favorites were the nacho fries and sweet potato fries--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The Cadillac Wagyu burger was a definite 10/10. It was big, juicy, and fresh with bold flavors that didn't disappoint. I paired it with their house-made ginger lemonade, which was super refreshing, and topped it off with a creamy Oreo milkshake. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive and they even have crunchy ice, which was a nice touch! The industrial / rockstar theme was a vibe. I'm looking forward to coming back to try their cocktails and share this spot with friends.

First let me state that I haven't eaten a Hamburger in some time. The atmosphere is nice, the usual noise as in any establishment that serves a variety. Decor was nice nothing over the top. Service for us was decent, pleasant staff checked on us 2x. Once for food order then when food was delivered. That was it. Food did take a few minutes nothing outrageous. The buger was good cooked as ordered. It tasted AWESOME, like I said its been a minute since I've ordered a burger. My son ordered deconstructed tuna burger. Tuna cooked as ordered. There are TV's to watch events. Overall, nice place to grab a bite.

Hoododdy is a great burger joint that uses the best buns for their burgers! That being said, I tried a bowl this time with Brussels sprouts. It was really good but I forgot that the Brussels are fried so it didn't help with my caloric intake. Everyone seemed to really like their burger. The coke machine seemed to be having problems with a flavor and it was uncomfortably hot in there.

I love Hopdoddy, it's my favorite burger place and can be a nice sit down restaurant or a quick bite to eat. Their truffle fries are both abundant and very flavorful. But my favorite is truly the burgers. I usually get bacon jam. You can order up front and then they bring the food to your table. Prices are typical.

Time(s): Friday evening sat inside around 7pm. Saturday afternoon/early evening sat outside around 3-4pm. Vibes: Friday was definitely poppin' more than Saturday afternoon. We didn't mind either way. Good music, tvs going, people enjoying themselves. What more can you ask for? Service: Great both times! I'm gluten free, not by choice, and they took my food safety very seriously. They're always smiling and friendly. We love it here! Food: Some of the best burgers I've had in a while! Those gluten free buns are to die for! I hate going somewhere that doesn't offer good buns. These must be house made because they vary a little bit every time. I love them. I've had both the classic and the regenerative burgers. The regenerative beef order is definitely my preferred. My husband has had the classic once with gf bun and once with regular because he's not gluten free. However, he loves the gluten free bun so much he said he'll only order that from now on. The fries are another story. We binge those, truly can't help it. The parm fries are our standard. This last time we also ordered Nacho fries. 10/10. The milkshakes are great too!

I never get anything but a Magic Shroom and the Parmesan Truffle Fries. Oh, and of course a frozen marg. I come in from out of town and this place hits EVERY TIME. Service is pretty standard, but every once in a while you get a great bartender who makes your night that much more enjoyable. The ambiance is perfect for a late burger after a long Spurs game. Love it!

My hubby loves this place. The burgers are good but for me the fries are just AMAZING!!! I think it's the sweet potatoes hot & honey ones I can just eat that and order a milkshake with it. You can even add liquor if you like. It's definitely a nice ambiance just order up front and they will bring the food to your table.

The fries are always my favorite part!! Sooo yummy! I got the magic mushroom- I believe that's what it was called. It has goat cheese which I'm typically not a fan of but the flavor of the cheese with the shrooms and the patty just works. Forgot to get a picture of my shake- can't remember the name but it had Nutella and pretzels.. honestly was not impressed. Just tasted like a thick chocolate shake with soggy pretzels. Could have been executed better. The service was mid.. you order at the counter and they tell you what table number to sit at. Not super friendly but not rude. The fries came out before the burger and the shake came out much later- I thought they had forgotten about me. The patio is nice.

We like it here and are here several times a year. A couple of comments: 1). The workers at the front of the house have one speed. Even if the lines are long, they don't work more efficiently. The workers were more attentive to flirting with each other than they were to the people in line. As far as I could tell there wasn't a manager. Or no one functioning as a manager. 2) The HopDoddy app is clunky to use. One can't see all of the offers without fully entering a credit card. That is presumptuous and not service forward. Little thing. Easy to fix.

I was craving a good old juice burger so we decided to come here. I used to eat at Hopdoddy's in Midland but it's been awhile. So glad we decided on them, I've never been to this location, but this is an awesome set up at this location. Great lively ambiance, with rock and roll themed pictures on the wall. The staff was very attentive as well. My go to is the Shroom Burger, which is what I got. And it definitely hit the spot this day!!

My family and I visited Hopdoddy off of Blanco and 1604. When we first walked in the you could tell they must have had a rush because the place was a mess. By they got it in order pretty quick. We ordered the Thunderbird in a bowl, the classic, Continental club, and small fries. The Thunderbird is a chicken burger and I was concerned that it would be dry. It wasn't! It was very moist and had excellent flavor. I only wish it didn't come in such a tall bowl. But I would buy it again. My family enjoyed the club and the classic. They finished it all. We decided to get the small fries but it was big enough for all three of us to share. At this restaurant you stand in line to order and they tell you where to sit. But some tables ate tall and we could not sit there. They accommodated us and our needs. They were helpful with recommendations and with making sure our allergy issues were met. We will be coming back soon especially for the Thunderbird!

Great burgers! We got ours as a bowl on shredded lettuce which is tossed on a yummy sauce. The sweet potato fries are fresh and delicious. Quick and friendly service.

First time here. Nice place for burgers. We had a variety of burgers. The green chili cheese fries and the truffle brussel sprouts. We sat outside because it was very cold inside. There were a lot of flies and bees outside and I just feel like they can better manage that. That is mainly why I marked them down. I do plan to return because the drink selection looks good. Maybe for happy hour.

Our first time out since recovering from covid. Thankfully Dad remained negative through all the tests! We headed to @hopdoddy at 1604 tonight. Happy hour is until 6pm on weekdays. The drinks are huge and not short of alcohol. I had the Rum Punch, my husband had the Margarita and Dad had his Lemonade. Dad and I shared the Goodnight burger without the jalapeños. My husband had the same with the spice. We all shared the Parmesan Fries. So good! Dad even complimented the burger since he enjoyed it. I was worried it was not thin enough for him. Happy tummies and glad to be back out again!

Twice I've visited and been charged painfully high prices AND still given food that I'm allergic too, despite me informing up front I have allergies. Today's visit took 30 minutes to get me a burger, egg, 3 tiny slices of avocado & iceberg lettuce. Still put the onion jam that I can't have on it.

So I lived in Austin for 5 years before moving to San Antonio, and Hopdoddy is a well-known must-go place on South Congress. I would say that this location has upheld my expectations for delicious burgers and fries! The truffle fries are an absolute must. They're probably the best fries I've ever had. The beers are always served in your classic fishbowl sized glass which is fun. The ambiance is pretty typical for a burger bar. Sports are always on and the bar is located in the center of the restaurant. The service is solid, but nothing special. The original South Congress location will always have an essence that's hard to capture. The staff and restaurant have a certain charm that doesn't translate. If I had never been to the first location I would easily rate 5/5 stars because it's simply the best burger bar in my opinion!

My husband & I were there for dinner on a Friday evening. We sat at the bar and although very busy the bartender took our order pretty quickly. I ordered the hamburger in a bowl (over Brussel sprouts) & it was delicious! The Parmesan Truffle fries were amazing! My husband loved the llano poblano burger. We both loved the fun vibe the restaurant had & will return to try the milkshakes next time.

Came here for lunch at 11:30 and it was empty, but people start pouring in around noon. Got a small booth by the windows. Ordered the Good night/Good Cause Burger with side of sweet potato fries. The burger is so juicy and has a nice sweetness from the bbq sauce. The burger has jalapeños and a caffeinated bbq sauce! The fries are super crispy and delicious. The inside would seem to be fun once it fills up with people. Music selection was good.

Really enjoyed the three times I've been there. Food is great. Full bar. A bit expensive though.

First timer! Why the hell haven't I been here before! The burgers are juicy and thick, delicious, and that Truffle Aioli sauce, AMAZING! I had to buy a bottle of it! You order at the register, pick your table number, and they deliver your food. The atmosphere is retro, a great family, and group gatherings spot. Large tables are available. The shakes are amazingly delicious, and I don't have shakes often. I couldn't finish it, I was too stuffed. Lol

My favorite kind of "chains" are the ones that are not too big with an attention to detail, and Hopdoddy fits the bill. Their burgers are always consistently delicious. To start, the buns are freshly baked and I enjoy that they have a "burger of the month" to spice things up. As "Legend" status, you also get a lot of free perks and food items to try. I'm not usually an app person, but theirs is well-designed and the first that I've religiously used. The staff seem to be pretty loyal and that's nice to see. They are always super cool and will always go the extra mile to fix an order. There was a time where they forgot to include the salad for my burger bowl in a to-go order and the manager made it right--no questions asked. Their bar is equally impressive. Go for happy hour and get a huge schooner size margarita for $5. The frozen always hits the spot for me after a long work day. I keep telling my girlfriends we need to go for happy hour and they don't seem to understand why. I'll just keep the margaritas to myself!

This review is for the bar at midday on a Saturday. Our bartender/server was Tyler. He immediately welcomed us and offered to concoct a libation of his creation, called the Gold Rush. He helped us by answering a couple of questions on the menu, made our drinks expeditiously, and had our food out in less than 10 minutes. We pop in on occasion, chill at the bar, and enjoy a quick nibble. It's the service and personalities of people like Tyler that keeps us coming back.

You know what? I gave this place four stars because of their brioche bread. It's a house made bread (or seems like it) and it's perfect. The chicken that I ate had a zing to it but thought it would be spicer. I would say this is better than Popeye's spicy chicken sandwich...so if that's your thing, come try it here. It is juicy. I didn't give it a 5 star because nothing stood out to me. Everything was what I expected and it's good, great customer service, price, but it didn't "wow" me...the flavor was a little over average, nothing spectacular. However I will return to try other things. I do appreciate that it's not hundred of items on their menu and they seem to focus on the quality of a few.

We just needed a quick bite to eat before my nephews basketball game so we Stopped by hopdoddy we got quick service a good burger and the strongest margarita I've had in a long time it was so strong that I could not even drink half of it service was great staff was fun and it was quick exactly what we needed

Absolutely love Hopdoddy. That bison burger is the way to go. I sub goat cheese for the blue cheese and life is good. The service at this location was good. Good front of house service and friendly it nothing over the top. The food took a while to come out. It was wasn't very crowded maybe because it's a Tuesday it's a reduced staff. When I get a drink here is opt in for the little Larry. A little mini margarita with grand mariner. It's just enough to enjoy and not enough to get lit.

From very good burgers to disgusting. I don't know if they sold the franchisees to new owners but the quality is awful now, not even the natural ingredient sodas are there anymore, they sold themselves to coca-cola; so sad; Burger is awful, bread is awful and French fries are awful; never going back; all 6 of us hated our meal and it used to be one of our favorite places for burgers

First time here and it was great! I was recommended the llano poblano by the cashier I wish I would've gotten his name because it was great choice! OMG it was delicious! Loved it! The Parmesan truffles were ordered to start they were delicious! I will definitely be back!

I am stuck on those Nashville Hot chicken tenders, Fries with chili queso, and their margaritas are . I recently made a delivery mistake and the person I initially spoke with was kind and explained things well and was able to fix my problem. I did have another question a little later (I over analyze alot) and didn't ask to speak with the manager but thats who I ended up speaking with. He was very accommodating (within reason) and kind! They have a patron for life!! Tried the strawberry shake and it's very good too!

BEST BURGER IN SAN ANTONIO! Hopdoddy is a great example of quality over quantity. They have about a dozen burgers and sandwiches to choose from but each one is diverse and intentional with each ingredient. Most of the burgers and sandwiches are balanced in that they have a niche topping but stay traditional in what a burger or sandwich should be. There is no shortage of sauces or dips for your entree and sides. They serve various forms of fries in 10 different ways so it's always exciting to try a different take. I go here weekly because of the freshness, quality, taste, price and friendliness of the staff. It's all 5 star! You don't leave feeling gross heavy from the food. Not to mention the outdoor seating is covered and clean. They have a full bar and plenty of tv's to follow the current sports game. You will be back for this burger, guaranteed!

It feels like they don't want your business... Used to be us and our friend's Friday happy hour hang out spot. usually about 10 of us on average would come from 4-6PM for our favorite Margaritas. One day they changed happy hour after almost a year of us coming to Sun-Thu. We asked why this change happened and it bothered us because we had a good thing going. No good answer. So a smaller group of us starting going on Sunday, after a couple months they changed it to Mon-Thu. Now we won't go anymore, it's like they don't want your business.

I rounded up...they make a Solid Hot Chicken Sandwich...the fries are a little too small however they're tasty...the Chipotle Ketchup helps. Service was Great...Food was prepared in a decent amount of time & was Hot...Really enjoyed the Oreo Shake...I'll be back for another round

I'm sad to write this review but hopdoddy is no longer one of my go to burger restaurants. I went tonight and ordered the bitty bitty bun bun burger with their famous truffle aïoli fries. The burger was not cooked to the correct temperature and the only flavor from the entire burger was from the black beans. The truffle aïoli fries were delicious as usual but it is a problem when a burger restaurant has better fries than burgers. Hopefully they can get things together but unfortunately, I'll be looking for a new burger joint.

Not the best parking area. It was clean and had good music playing with plenty of tv's playing sports channels. the servers were really nice and kind. Asked us a couple of times if we were ok. The food came out fast and love the Green Chile fires. My burger was cooked the way I wanted it. Definitely going back.

I really do like this place. Unique hamburger.. great options on fries. The service and follow through is so lacking. It took 35 mins to get our two hamburgers and fries. Build you own burger (off menu now) for me was brie, arugula, truffle aoili, caramelized onions..really good but that was not brie and I missed it so. My son has the classic with bacon added. The buns today did not stand up to the VERY juicy burger. The parmesan truffle fries were awesome. The side sauce is amazing. My son has the sweet potato fries .. cooked perfectly ... served with a really good side Russian sauce. Love their custom flavored fountain drinks ... Pineapple cream!!! I left the typical tip(pay ahead at the registers now) thinking they would still be waiting the tables. They were not. Argh!!!

When you walk in you have to go to the cashier and order and they will designate a table. The place has a fun atmosphere with good music. We enjoyed the truffle fries, my hubby had the double bacon jam and he really expected to have bacon and not just bacon jam so that's on him, my patty melt which is the Doddy Melt was just ok. I could only eat half of it.

Good luck if you're ordering for delivery. Two times in a row they managed to forget an item and both times it was an order of sweet potato fries. Do not recommend. **update** After being told to email following the directions from the owner, no no one's surprise, I haven't received a response. Great business they run.

One of the few places I don't have to worry about being gluten free and still wanting to taste a real burger. Who wants a sad old lettuce wrapped burger when you can get a warm, toasted, decadent gluten free bun? It is both crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside to soak up the burger and sauce juices. Did I yet mention the Parmesan Truffle Fried? Pretty much crack fries that you can't stop eating. Long with a crisp exterior that won't crumble when dipped. Indoor and outdoor seating. Natural colas. Bar with beers on tap and a delicious mojito round out this great burger joint.

This location is amazing. They put effort into the little things, specifically, ice cold beers every time. The kegs are obviously taken care of and monitored and the glassware is always chilled to perfection. Each one of their burgers are immaculate. Personally, the magic shroom is my go-to, but I've ordered everything on the menu and it is all STELLAR.

First and foremost, the quality of the food is always amazing. I don't visit Hopdoddy often, but every time I stop in, the food quality is wonderful and consistent. The thing I love the most are the gluten free options. My favorites are the Magic Shroom or the Llano Poblano. I highly recommend the Hot Honey Fries with the Hot Honey on the side. Normally, I got their margaritas (WHICH ARE AMAZING), but sadly, I did not get one this time around. I always get mine with a Grand Marnier floater - aka the big or small Larry. Aside from the food, the employees and the manager, Eddie, are very polite and welcoming. I love this location because it's right off the highway and there's plenty of parking. One of my favorite additions about this location is having the bar as a main attraction for the inside. I love looking at all of glass bottles on display. The booths sit high off the ground, which is a favorite feature for my partner. Overall, the burgers are a little bit more on the pricier side, but let me tell you.. their specialty burgers are very gourmet. If you're wanting a high quality burger, this is the spot.

Parm truffle fries helooooo?? Yes please. Burgers great. This devil margarita wtf it's called is delightful and potent! I got the shroom burger and loved it. Will come again.

The whole interaction was strange for me. I came in by myself and asked to be at a table. The bar tender directed me towards the pickup area to order, 3 employees immediately look me up and down like I was out of place and one of them told me to order at the bar. I was in a high traffic booth and was given a cup for water.. which stayed empty the whole time. Kinda like they were informing me on purpose. Just very strange and will not be back. First and last timer.

The current special on the menu is a patty melt with umami mushrooms and comeback sauce and it is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! They really need to add this to the permanent menu!!! I loved that they served it with a steak knife for cutting it in half, but pre-cutting it would've been nice:) We had to hunt for a waitress a couple of times, but otherwise friendly staff and clean facility.

Friendly staff, great food. My favorite is the truffle fries and truffle brussels. Gave 4 instead of 5 for no allowance of cash pay or tip and chicken has an odd texture. All other food items have been amazing and I've eaten at several Hopdoddy locations.

Went 310/2024. Had 3 burgers ans kids meal. My wife didn't see a kids menu. I myself didn't want truffles fries with parm seasoning. So i ask young waitress to add a small fry. Then i needed food for daughter. Asked fot tenders and she said u can get kids portion. Great. Yet the wagu patty was seasoned beautifully but my classic was cold. Fries were cold. They forgot to bring new order out to us. Not bad for being busy but should've been better for the wait time 30 minutes

I enjoy the fact that they cook their burger with a little pink in the middle. Always a fan of carmelized onions as well. Plus, a dollar of the proceeds will go to a designated charity. To date, their 32nd location is partnered with the Texas Disabled Veterans Association. A good meal and a good deed all in one My new favorite here is the hot honey and sage fries. Try those or the parmesan fries with queso. The Bad: A lot of people really enjoy raw jalapeno. Personally, I would prefer it cooked with the onions to temper off some of the heat. I've also been to places that blend their jalapenos into jams or repurpose them in some way to make the dish unique. That's really just a personal preference. I don't typically have issues with Hopdoddys and I don't expect to because they're a chain so quality should be uniform throughout. San Antonio recently got a new location open at the Vineyard which we were initially excited about as it's closer to the house. Unfortunately, the last time we ordered the parmesan fries they were hard and cold. I would chalk it up to new hires in their acclimation period. If you don't want to risk it, there's a more established location at The Rim. The Aftermath: As a whole, solid burger choice if you're tired of fastfood. Always love HD but haven't dined here since I went gluten free......well, guess what?? Found out last week they make their own gluten free Buns and had one today........THEY ROCK!! I'm so thrilled to be able to come back and enjoy a delicious burger and truffle fries. Whoop!!!

Great chicken strips and juicy burgers . They also have a gluten free menu. Great ambiance. Excellent service.

So happy a new location opened up on 1604, much needed without getting all of the Rim crowd. Music was kinda too loud this last time around. Food was delicious as usual, good sized patio also! Goodnight Goodcause, Tuna Burger, El Diablo, Parmesan truffle fries...all our favorites. Didn't order this time around but the Little Larry margarita is a perfect sized, perfectly potent margarita!!!!
