One of my favorite places to come after work. Great happy hour menu for food and drinks. Food is actually pretty good as well. During game days it does get packed and there are only like 2 maybe 3 servers working at a time, so expect longer waits.

Brooooo. Can we say understaffed. Took an hour and 15 mins to get a platter. (35$) btw which is usually ($27) just for it to be cold. Missing the tenders and no ketchup or ranch smh. The girl Andrea said because there was only one cook. SMH. Instead of them doing bucket specials like they said they were for the games. They raised the prices on them. We were there during the entire game. Got there maybe around second quarter And the specials were NOT offered during game time. We paid $102 for a bucket of 6 hottttt modelos which the server mentioned were hot cuz they ran out of the cold ones. the platter. À unrefillable coke and they charged gratuity 🤦‍♀️. It was lit thanks to the rams clubs. But the owner needs to step up his game asap. I read the response. We were inside not outside. Got there second quarter of the game didn’t receive any specials. We were informed the beers were hot. Because they ran out of the cold ones. Not because we were under the sun which we were not at all. The platter missing food and taking an hour and a half makes no sense especially since im pregnant nd hungry. I love that spot and have been there many times. Maybe it would’ve been better to turn ppl away like your response says. But I am not a rams fan so I wasn’t there the second time once u fixed the mistakes. So I have no comment on that.

So I came here on Halloween and it was dead so we left after about an hour. We wanted to have a few drinks with the hubby but avoid all the Valentine craze. The place was pretty much empty, which I liked. The Laker game was on which was a plus! They have a huge tv outside. Maybe for when it’s warmer outside. We had happy hour from 5-7 which was nice. Got $6 nachos. I gotta say they were almost perfect except for the fact that they were cold. I saw my server put them out on the bar counter and it took a minute before they reached my table. Server was nice but I think maybe she was too laid back…. I do think it took the nachos took longer than expected considering there were 3 tables at the time including mine. I didn’t wanna have a bad time so I didn’t say anything. My beer was on point. This place looks like it could pull in a lot of customers. It just needs a little something. They had karaoke and DJ. The guy was pretty cool. He was playing good music. Til next time.

Tried the Cool Kids IPA, good if you don't mind strong hops. The Azalea Gardens IPA, is pretty good and smooth, also tried the Blood Orange, and it is also very good. Service was good. Appetizers were cooked well. Love the giant screen to watch sports on.

Pretty close to my house so I like to come here sometimes on the weekends. Good place to watch the fights or the games. The food isn't to bad, I like the cheesesteak or the chicken wings with sweet chili sauce. Good micheladas as well. Edit. The previous DJ. And the New DJ both sucks

I’ve been here a couple times before and have always enjoyed it. It’s usually a pretty mellow place. They had the Banda today which was great but maybe just a little too loud. It also took a long time to get our server to check in or get our check. I get it cause it was busy but they would walk past us without asking us how we were doing. As someone who works in the service industry I feel it’s just common courtesy to ask even if it feels redundant. Overall I love this place and come back every time I’m in HP.

I order a pizza when I received the pizza it wasn't cook properly (dough) the waitress was kind and brought me another one, I'll give her a 4.5, beers alright as my friend say aleight lol😁👍🍻its a good place to chill and watch the game(s)

Great food and drinks had the pizza and fries it had a nice flaky airy crust. Overall nice cool vibe highly recommend

Honestly this place has potential but it definitely disappoints everytime. They promote hosting games and good food. I came here with my nephew for the dodger game and sat at a table outside for 35 mins. By that time I was thinking we had to order inside so I waited in line inside for about 40 mins. Just to get told that kitchen is closed. I asked why , and was told because they are backed up. I got my drinks and went back outside while seeing the lady with red hair helping people out but to the ones she knows. 10 mins in I see her taking food orders. One- granted it's busy. But plan accordingly. 2. Don't pick and choose who you going to help. 3. No wonder this place has decline drastically over time.

Everyone is trippin on the reviews. I was skeptical on coming but beer is great , food is great and service is great. Came in happy hour which was a plus.

1st time here and it was super chill for a Monday, the bartender Walter was amazing with great service! Definitely recommended spot if you just want to chill and watch the games. Happy hour prices are awesome!!!!!!

Cool bar with almost any beer on draft you wanna try they have all the regular beers plus they have a lot of IPAs options is you like that kinda of beer they also have good pizza and a Dj playing music this place has a lot of room for big groups with plenty of seats

1st Time here to watch the 49ers Play against the cowboys. The place is great . Great food, variable TVs, variable drinks. And the service is just great. Our host is Aleena and she is providing Phenomenal service . Thank you very much Aleena for making our first experience extra special. Everything overall is just great.

The waiters are whales and are super rude to the customers. They think they're better than everyone else just because they work here. LOSERS

I live literally down the block. Only reason why I dont come here is because of the service. They seem mad al the time like if we are a bother. Young ladies need to smile more and socialize with the customers that is what good bar service is about. Have a conversation with your customer make them feel welcomed and make them smile so they can come back. These young girls need alot of work on that. Few times I came its been the same way. Very odd energy in the place. I have to raise my hand a few times to grab their attention. In other words, I do love the platter sampler. And I like to come here because of the games which also has the sound on so thats a plus. But yes service needs to be improved immediately.

first time trying to check this place out and it disappointed. An older man came out and told us we needed to get a bottle to be able to go inside and get a table. we told him we just wanted to have a drink and chill for a bit no table needed. he said we couldn't go in unless we got bottle service... so ridiculous they said we could sit in the benches outside.. don't waste your time

Went Friday night the beers are cold and they had a banda playing corridos which had the vibe cracking. The waitresses are polite and the food is really good. I ordered wings with fries they were bomb and crispy. I will be returning for happy hour to watch the dodger game.

The food and service was extremely horrible. We got here when it opened and waitresses never came then we went to the bar and they said they are not taking any food orders but people were ggetting food severed they only had one cook for a full house. I will never come back here again not sure how they can stay in business. Very disappointed. I would not give them 1 star but needed to give them one so I can post this. Very unprofessional.

Our waitress Rosa was rude and unprofessional. It wasn't too busy and it took nearly 40 minutes to get our food. This is because she had to come back 3 times to confirm what we ordered because she kept verbally repeating our order incorrectly. Because she took so long to get our order, she charged us reg price when we ordered during happy hour. We were a group of 6 so gratuity was already charged on the bill. She deserved no tip. If you get Rosa (glasses), ask for a different waitress.

I came here to check out a Thursday night football game with some old coworkers. I loved how they have a ton of seats, inside and out, and they have their own parking lot. Lots of food options, as well as drinks. I gave 4 starts instead of 5 because I thought the beer buckets were just a tad pricey. I believe they were 25.50 and I got two buckets, one of corona and the other of modelo. There were 6 beers in each. I also ordered a Bavarian pretzel that came with a hot mustard and cheese and it was HUGE. Overall I would recommend this spot!

The sampler tray is good for a lot of people Service was kinda slow had to go look for some to help us but we got help they were checking on us alot The music is good we created a dance floor we moved some tables Love how they have tvs with the games on.

I'll give it 2 stars because the steak salad was pretty alright for bar food. On the other hand, we ordered a sampler which we were pretty excited about, something about the taste of the fryer made then taste like masa or undercooked. After 30 minutes the waitress asked us how we were doing. We expressed the concern and we're treated to get a refund. Some rude lady that didn't even introduce herself as the manager then comes out and lets us know that the food is cold and that is the reason why it tasted the way it did and denied the refund (which at this point we'll take any source of a better experience) but the only thing offered was a box to take this treat we had concerns about to begin with. This platform is for overall service. Waitress was great, manager needs some tips on customer service.

This has been my go to spot for many years but tonight was definitely a disappointment. We came for girls night drinks and well to take it back to our good ol days i ordered us a round of Adios MF drinks, needless to say they were not to our standard, the drinks were honestly too sweet that we told our waitress Rosa that hey these aren't it, the drinks are too sweet we would like to have something else and we just ordered a different round of Our original drinks. Much to our surprise when she dropped off our tab the Adios's were still included. She said since the owner was here there was nothing she could do and that he wouldn't come to our table to talk to us that we would have to go and speak to him. I politely said ok let's go since I know it wasn't her fault as she was just serving our drinks and I spoke to the owner who was an older gentleman and he just basically said you ordered the drinks if you don't like them don't come back, to which I responded señor I have been visiting your establishment for many years and I have never not paid for my drinks but if im paying close to $300 I would like for my drinks to be up to par and he was just a very dismissive man and said don't come back we don't have complains ever and I will not take the drinks off your tab to which we never drank as they were extremely sweet ... to the owner of hops and barley, Manners matter and you were not a very nice man ..

This used to be my Go-To Karaoke for Wednesdays. It's a bit of a shame that that's no longer the case since they dismissed their only reason for a chunk of their Wednesday patrons to go to. It is with much regret that not only has their quality gone down, but also the only entertainment is gone or reason for me to go to has gone down the drain. With many errors in orders, overly charged drinks, and lack of karaoke, I don't see myself ever coming back. Best of luck.

I saw a St Patrick's day promotion on social media and decided to try and give Hops and Barley a shot. They promoted green beer, and shots. The inside was busy so we sat outside to watch laker game. 20 minutes of waiting we asked waiter for service. He said I can't help you right now give him a minute. Another 15 minutes go by and still no service. Long story short, they promoted for service they couldn't provide. I would recommend a different place no matter the time, place, or day.

They got me again! They say tip isn't included when it really is. I didn't even get a bill this last time either, just a total amount and paid at my table. I asked if tip was included and waitress said no. There I was pulling my cash to tip but the total seemed off. I asked for the bill and sure enough it was included. Check it out, plus that tip is not 15% like it says. Why so shady? I always tip 20% or more but let me do it on my term, jeez. Last time I mistakenly tipped $34 on top of their already included $30 tip. Not cool! I live down the street so will continue to drink here but hate I have to keep vigilant.

Horrible food, horrible service, bad attitudes. I was looking at the over priced food and then realized they do the Mr Beast food from here 5 -9 pm. The food is overpriced and small portions and served cold!!!

This place is amazing food is always so fresh...pizza fries wings all the delicious bar favorites . The chicken club sandwich is one one my favorites. great vibe overall music is on point . The drinks are so good !!! I will for sure be back soon

Before you walk into the bar to the right there is a poster that states 6 - 16 oz Michelob ultras for $25.50. So we walk in and order our Ultras, the bar tender tells us it's only 5 beers, so we explain to her what the sign they put up with states. She called the owner and the owner says it's only 5 with an attitude! What ever, we'll pay for $5.... they didn't even have the ultras in stock. All that drama for nothing!! We check out their menu and they want $9 for fries!! We decide to leave because they're service was horrible. We take a picture of the promotion and show it to them they tell us to get out and go somewhere else!! We tried this place a few times and every time we get last down!! NEVER AGAIN! Foos sucks, beer sucks, plus ownership sucks!!

Came to watch the mexico game and I mean I understand being busy with such a popular game but not ONCE did any server come to take our order. The kitchen was backed up and they were telling everyone that the kitchen was closed. If you can't handle a big crowd, just don't open up. All we asked for was for some water and it didn't come I til 40 minutes later. WATER. Don't waste youre time coming here.

Food, over-priced and flavorless. $10 for a bottle of domestic and a soda? Service, worse than the food. The frail old lady couldn't stop frowning and clearly hates people. She threw out a family because the wife said her beer was flat. I nearly died of thirst sitting at the bar for 15m and there were 3 bartenders. Ambiance, huge space, perfect for an out of control bar fight. Been there twice because I thought the first time was an anomaly, but it's the standard. The manager seems like a nice guy but we didn't go there and bring friends and family expecting to be treated like garbage and see others treated the same way. I'm not upset, ill just never go back.

Had a small gathering with coworkers. Katherine was able to accommodate us in the patio and met all of our needs.The staff is very friendly and Aleena made sure there was always warm food in the chafing dishes. We had a great time.

Parking - plenty of parking space in the back. Location - fairly large. Lots of TVs. Huge selection of beers on tap and some bottled. A good amount of seating at the bar, and a back area for more seating. DJ plays old school hip hop, R&b and a little Spanish music. Food/Pricing- they have a few happy hour specials most days of the week. Yesterday Jameson with whatever mix was $6 so we got that. Also, the burger sliders with fries $11 to share. The sliders are a palm size, with bacon, cheese and secret sauce came with 3. Juicy and not dry. The steak fries were crispy and has seasoning salt my favorite. We devoured it. I tried the new melon drink which is midori with white sangria not necessarily my taste. It was ok but not something I would order again. Experience- the food took forever! I'm not sure why it wasn't super packed but the staff and other patrons said they are usually quick. The food however was bomb so that kind of made up for it. Our waitress was super sweet and very welcoming. I didn't catch her name but younger, very slender and had long blonde hair. She made our visit more enjoyable shout-out to her. The other staff was very sociable as well. I would definitely go back. Need to Know- casual, big area and happy hour most days.

Extremely poor service. I ordered a beer and tried to order food the bartender told me to go to a seat and that a waitress would be with me shorty. Seemed like she didn't want to take my order. I sat down and it's been about 40+ mins that no one has checked in with me. I won't be coming back this is my second visit and both visits have been extremely poor service.

I use to love this bar! My fiancé and I would go every week but now we will not be returning. I found pink lipstick on the rim of my cup! I told them my cup was dirty and it had lipstick. They just said they'll give me a new one. Without apologizing or giving me a refund. I couldn't enjoy my drink or food after that. This place is dirty and always smells like chemicals. They clean the floors right when they open instead of cleaning after closing so we won't have to breath in the chemicals. I wish they took their time on cleaning their dishes instead. So sad I lost a bar I liked.

Worst service! We found 2 hairs in our food! TWO!!! This is ridiculous! We proceeded by speaking to the OWNER, and she wanted to charge us for something that we didn't finish eating because of the hair. The managers customer service was unprofessional and told us to do her the favor to never come back. Have this in mind, we were only guys so there's no way that we had long hair. The server was a sweet heart and tried her best to help us out. I would give this restaurant a 0.05% star review. I don't recommend this place. Their wings taste nasty too. It has a bad after taste.

Honestly was a bit skeptical about this place. I have lived all my life in South Gate and have never given this place a see one glance. It's very nice and the food is very good The pizza was Delicious and the Loaded Fries were very good

It's no Longer the Hops I Use to Love Going too. The quality of food has gone down hill just like the service. It low key turned into your ghetto viejillo bar down the street. The music is now all paisa and no cuties go here anymore. I'm sad about it, this use to be my favorite bar.

This place doesn't know how to treat the locals except maybe their friends that sit at the bar all day , came in to have 1 beer and left immediately because they tried to charge me and my girlfriend a 10$ entrance fee ??? Wait to slap locals in the face your not a club . Went down the street and walked into my regular spot no problems and had a beer there . I barely even wanted to go into this restaurant because of the reviews and bc the food looks terrible . welp we ain't ever coming back . hope this dump closes down soon and they put something modern . This place is 1000% for old heads and probably for the owners friends to hang out and the whole place doesn't look appealing at all so old school . What a way to not run a business yuck .

Good place to watch sports, wings are a must and they have a good beer selection. Would recommend to anyone who is a sports enthusiast.

My best friend and I dine in today and this place is amazing the food was delicious we ordered the sampler and drinks. Our waitress was Cynthia she was so sweet, helpful, attentive and friendly. Plus her service was wonderful. Thank you Cynthia keep up the great work.

I watch the show Bar Rescue, and this place should be on that show. I came to watch the Rams vs 49ers yesterday with my girlfriend at first when we got there it was set up nice, outside with a big screen projecting the game. We ordered wings & a bbq chicken pizza, the wings were extremely burned and very dry. The pizza came out snd was 1/2 burned, I wouldn't complain because I will eat almost anything but my girlfriend mentioned to the workers that it's burnt. They told us it would be about 30 more minutes which was fine, they finally brought out the new pizza and it was awful. Little to no bbq sauce on the pizza, the chicken was small chicken tender pieces just cut up and put onto the pizza. And it tasted like a frozen style pizza. We couldn't finish it because you can taste the oil from the chicken tenders. I've had the food before and it was good but I won't be ordering food anymore from here. On top of that, the people next to us ordered sliders and couldn't finish them, you can see that they didn't enjoy them. They looked like toy burgers. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The service was horrible. The food was garbage, Asian chicken salad with no wontons but when I did ask for it they were stale. Small portions. They ran out of lots of things. This place needs to close down or reinvest in the place. Also no soap or paper towels in ladies room. Bathrooms were gross this place is not worth any time.

The owners replies to complaints should tell you everything you need to know about this restaurant, but to add to the disappointment, my friends and I had draft beer from here and the beer tasted spoiled. My bartender was super sweet and replaced the beer for me trying different lines and all of them tasted awful. Like mildew. We also ordered wings that were very salty and overcooked. Just really bad quality food and drinks here. I noticed in some replies the owner tells people that your order was probably "hurried" or that they were busy, which btw isn't an excuse to serve bad food, I just wanna note that it was pretty empty the date of my visit. Great candidate for kitchen nightmares

Owner here is very rude, not friendly, not welcoming. Was bullied by her on my way to the restroom. Will not be coming here again. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

After many years of coming here I just want to share the good things about this place in my opinion. It's one of the closest bars to my house, there is a large selection of beer and cocktail choices and the staff is pretty nice. Yes, this place is not perfect but if you find what you like from here, this place can be pretty fun.

Usually I wouldn't say anything but our experience last night would've been a great opening scene for "Bar Rescue". But to rescue this place it would require firing the vampire lady, all of the servers except for the young Latina lady with braids. At least she showed empathy for us as she witnessed the terrible service we received. Btw, the blond bartender kept my change for my drink unless it costs $10 for a cup of soda. Their service is the worst. . Hi Walter, Thanks for your reply. The young lady had reddish burgundy braids. The lean brown haired lady is the one who was sending messages through her and asking questions about our party then kicked us out of the restaurant at 10 p.m. I've NEVER been greeted by any of your staff. I've had to wait extraordinarily lengthy times all three times I visited your restaurant. 15 to 20 minutes at miminimum with bartenders and servers holding casual conversations with kitchen staff. I had no idea that refills where free and we where charged $4.00 not $3.50. Maybe you should tell your staff that refills are free and that they should let customers know that as well. It's very telling or maybe I just missed the part where you apologized for overcharging us, poor service and the angry lady throwing our party out of the restaurant at 10 p.m. Maybe invest some time addressing QOS instead of arguing and being defensive. The truth is, social media will take care of itself. . Just a thought.

The Cooks here cannot differentiate. Salt from a Pepper, asked for lemon And pepper wings, brough me. Super salty. And. Super lemony Not well cooked, you can literrally see inside red meat, prepackaged, warmed up. Put tones of. Salt. And. Called. It. Food, Learn. How to cook. The pics look good, but these guys need cooking lessons. Dont embarass your group, dont order food here, maybe just a beer. Food trucks have better quality food then. This place

I've been here a couple of times but this last time I went, they put a beer on my tab that I did not order so I told our server. She apparently didn't like that and when she came back with our receipt she slammed it on the table. Then she took it to Twitter to talk bad about her customers and she still wondered why she didn't get a tip.

This place is terrible, the waitress/bartender asked us to give her a second and then she walked past us about 5 times without acknowledging us. Waited about 20 minutes before I decided to hit the liquor store instead, probably wouldn't come back to this dump ‍

First time here and probably will be the last. Service is horrible, waited over 30 mins for someone to just take my order. When we finally received the food it was cold, and when I say cold, I mean felt like they just took the wings out the fridge and put them on the plate. Asked for water and napkins, and it took the waiter over 15 mins to bring them. I hate to sound like a Karen, because I never do this. But man was this a horrible experience.

Stopped in for a night of drinks and small bites with a couple of friends. For a rainy Thursday night, the place was pretty packed and live. Not much differed from my last visit with the exception of one cocktail and a appetizer trio. I've never heard of a pickleback shot until this visit (shot of whiskey and a shot of pickle juice). Here it's served as a martini with both combined. Curiosity struck me so pickleback martini it was. This was different and is definitely an acquired taste. Would I get it again? Yes but as a shot. I can see why pickle juice would be used as a chaser but you'd have to be a die hard pickle juice lover to have it as a martini. For the appetizer trio we order steak cut fries, sweet potato fries and fried zucchini. The highlight of the choices were the sweet potato fries while the others were just standard. The sweet potato fries here are great. Good taste with sugar sprinkled over them. I was impressed that the sugar didn't make them overly sweet. Going forward, I'll order double sweet potato fries in the trio if not all sweet potato fries. And for the main event...fried Oreo's!!! I can never get tired of these and it always puts the biggest smile on my face. You get a good portion for $5, can't beat that. This was another decent visit to Hops. Cocktails, sweet potato fries & fried Oreo's were and will be the recipe for more good visits to come. The beers are also nice and cold. Everyone loves a cold brew! Drinks 1/19/2017
