"In a city swarming with burger options, Hops stands above the rest. An instant hit with locals, its popularity exploded in 2015 after TripAdvisor named it as the “best burger restaurant” in the country. With two house-made vegan burgers and standouts like the Spicy Goat with goat cheese, pepper jelly, and bacon, Hops has something for everyone. Consider the rotating burger special and the truffle oil and parmesan fries." - Eric Ginsburg

Google
One of the most amazing burger selections...AND craft beer AND wine AND cocktails lists...that I have seen in decades. And as good as the food reads on paper, it's 50x better on the tongue. The staff is super friendly, helpful and funny...and a huge shout-out to Kayla who served us at the bar and helped us figure out our draft and burger choices perfectly. Cannot more highly recommend Hops!

Google
It’s a bar first, restaurant second. The 4.6 review average at time of writing is perplexing. Either people review high because of the pubscene, are ignorant as to how a great burger is prepared, or didn't eat the burgers on menu. Ordered "The Spicy Goat" and it was such a disappointment. An unseasoned and frozen beef patties with themed condiments (I saw a staff member take the frozen patty boxes to the dumpster while parking). As a result, even though ordered medium-well, it was dry. Maybe the other menu items are good, but the business has burger in the name and can't get that right…

We came on a busy Saturday night and were seated within 30 minutes (not bad at all given the number of people waiting). The menu is simple but diverse, with every French fry topping you could want and awesome burger options. The poutine fries were crispy and loaded with gravy. The burgers come in 6, 8, and 12-oz sizes for any size appetite. The food was delicious, service was attentive and friendly, and the prices are super reasonable. The atmosphere is nothing too special, but it wasn’t overly loud or crowded. I highly recommend this place if you just want a great burger!

First time in Greensboro. We are here for the Foodees Food and Culture Festival this weekend. We loaded in today and wanted to grab some lunch. This place was recommended by someone, so we gave it a try. MAN! Are we glad we did. The service was great and the food was even better.

Google
Such a great local restaurant. The vibe is so upbeat the moment you enter. A lot of locals were gathered and the atmosphere was so friendly. We sat at the bar and the servers were so helpful, fun, and provided great service. They had a great selection of vegetarian items, including an in house made vegetarian burger. I got the poutine fries (excellent) and fried cauliflower. Of im being honest, I probably would not get the cauliflower again. I didnt care for the breading and they werent fried long enough, but they were still good. My brother got a burger. He said it was excellent. The quality, service, taste/options, and atmosphere, all 10! Oh and I need to mention, definitely affordable. I would recommend.

Google
I absolutely loved this place. Excellent quality of food. Their hamburgers were delicious. I got mine with no bun and goat cheese on it and the hot pepper jelly was delicious with their garlic aïoli also. I would like to shout out Richie and Matt from the bar. They are the bartenders. Carmen the manager. She is very sweet. Just Claire Float Ryan and my to go girl was Aly very nice crew!!!!

Google
Best burgers in Greensboro. They cooked mine just as I asked which was charred! Excellent service. Definately gourmet burgers.

Stopped by on a shopping trip to Greensboro and had dinner. Great burgers and great sides! Had the Carolinan and the Blue Cheese Burger. Staff was very accommodating. Only issue was sitting on the patio the chairs have sides and are very uncomfortable for wider people. But overall it’s wonderful.

Yelp
FAVORITE burger in town but be mindful of the wait- luckily it's worth it! I always get the spicy goat burger here and get the turkey burger which is the absolute best! So much flavor and great texture, you would think you were having a regular burger. This burger is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy, I've tried to get similar versions in other restaurants but it's never even close to as good as this one. Also a big fan of the shallot dressing for their salad. My husband always likes to try out their special burger which changes weekly. This was the meatloaf one which had provolone and onion straws on top which was such a good flavor combo- we want to try to make something similar at home the next time we make meatloaf. We were excited for the Gouda Mac and cheese but it was underwhelming, not creamy enough and definitely needed some salt/seasoning (this is honestly the first item I've ever not liked from this restaurant). They do have a kids menu it's just not printed so simply ask the server and they will tell you the options, my daughter went with the cheese burger and sweet potato fries. We usually get some kind of loaded fries but weren't hungry enough this time but I HIGHLY recommend them, we've loved every flavor we've tried. While the location is small, I love the warm pub type feel inside and the staff is always moving quickly without making you feel rushed. If you haven't been, this is a MUST try!

Yelp
Yum! It was so good I forgot to take a picture! I had a 6 oz burger with bacon and egg and a side of garlic rosemary fries. The burger was cooked perfectly. My friend enjoyed the red ale, but I opted for a mixed drink. We enjoyed both. Our service was good and we didn't wait long for anything. The place was not as clean as I would have liked, especially the bathrooms, but it wasn't terrible.

Yelp
Dine in | Lunch | $10-20 THE WINGS ARE OMG! Hops is SO good! Best burgers in town. Wanted to resubmit my rating with a five star. Dined in tonight with my sister and the service was great. Previous review: I was craving a burger and decided to order Hops instead of Five Guys... I am so glad that I did! Haven't had Hops in years but I knew how good their burgers were. Asked for well done- spot on, the angus beef had a wonderful flavor, and applewood bacon was great quality. Thick flavorful bacon! Fries were perfect as well. The host(s) greeted me and they all were super nice and attentive. I did intend on placing my togo order online but there was an additional fee... Went inside to order to avoid it, so that was an inconvenience. They also add auto gratuity of 18% on parties of 6 or more. I try to stay away from force tip restaurants because those are earned for excellent service, not depending on your party size. Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Burger Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Free parking lot Parking: This spot be jumping, parking is limited.

Yelp
Haven't been here in awhile and was craving a burger. I got the North Carolinian Burger, it's just something about having a fried egg on burger that does it for me. The server was quick and attentive. I was just chatting with my friend after ordering and the food came out in about 10 mins. The server apologized about bringing the appetizer out before the meal and took it off the bill. I was surprised because it wasn't that long and I didn't mind. But good service! They were busy and but it wasn't too crowded. Pretty chilled vibe. I will be back! So if you're in the area, stop by and give it a try. They got 2 locations in the gso area!

Briana D.

Yelp
Server was super unfriendly and acted like she hated her job. Asked for medium rare burger and got medium. The place is really dirty and looks like it hasn't been clean in a year. The bathroom was one of the worst ones I've seen in a restaurant before. I was worried I was going to get sick from this place. I'm not sure why this place got great reviews, I was not impressed.

Kay K.

Yelp
I ate at this establishment in Winston Salem. Too bad they closed the place. Now I will have to drive to Greensboro

Erik S.

Yelp
5th review all time here? It's worth updating your reviews every so often to keep them current so that your opinion stays fresh for everyone to read! Just stopping by to say, though my tastes have moved on to prefer the more "smashburger" style of burger, as opposed to the thicker flame-grilled style they do at Hops... I still really like Hops. I can't think of a time someone has suggested it and I've said "Nah." Part of this is the continued innovation on their weekly burger, the rest of this is their selections of sides, apps, and beers. They're all good, and there is always something that suits your current preferred taste here. The service is always solid, especially by modern standards, and it continues to maintain that neighborhood feel even though it is one of the most well known restaurants in the Triad. This is a fail-safe place to bring someone, whether that be a date, or them visiting, or they just want a good burger. Hops won't let you down. Thanks for continuing to serve the Triad at a high level!

Aisha K.

Yelp
I'm REALLY big on customer service & that's one reason why I love the Hops on Spring Garden so much. Everyone is always super friendly and they really go out their way to ensure you have a good experience. When I don't want to cook, I can: A-get garbage food from a fast food spot; or B-for about the same price, get a burger made with real meat at Hops. I'm going B every time lol. They also do takeout, with options to call or order online. The food is reasonably priced & delicious, the place is clean, & the staff is on point. The only thing I don't like is the tiny parking lot but that's not too big a deal.

Aura M.

Yelp
Friday night, excited to check this place and...the host was great, very personal, our server was awesome, the burger just a burger, coleslaw was hot, like in spicy hot, the sweet potatoes fries were cold and not so crispy, but the appetizer was really really good, goat cheese balls. This kids that work there are phenomenal working at light speed and with a smile in their face, kudos to all of them

Yelp
Hops Burger Bar is a restaurant located in Greensboro, NC that serves signature burgers as well as build your own burgers and sandwiches. It's more bar than restaurant imo, with a great craft beer tap list and bottles. The servers were personable and attentive. On this particular visit, I decided to pass on the burgers and get the Mad Haddock, which is a beer battered haddock filet served with lettuce, tomato, red onion and tartar sauce on the side. The filet is huge and doesn't even fit on the bun. The tarter was exceptionally good and the perfect condiment along with some what seemed to be some homemade hot sauce. The sandwich came with a side of hot, crunchy fries. If you're ever in the area, check this spot out. You won't regret it and will want to return again and again, guaranteed.

Yelp
Hops Burger Bar is a delicious place to get a burger in Greensboro! I love the rotating selection of specialty burgers they offer. Every time I go I try a new one. Always flavorful and delicious. I especially loved the Poutine fries! Perfectly Crisp with just the right amount of gravy. Must try you won't be disappointed! The atmosphere is typical of a bar/burger restaurant. The service is generally really good even on a busy weekend. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves a good burger!

Clay C.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in 7 years and recently went back. I got the spicy goat burger at the urgency of my wife. Great decision!! It was busy but we were sat soon with little wait time. The side salad really had a lot packed into the small bowl. The ranch was great. Will definitely be back. They did update their system recently to accept Apple Pay so there was a problem with our bill but they make it right.

Savanah L.

Yelp
WOW! Super impressed with the creativity and flavor of these burgers. I loved being able to customize the bun choice and picking between 6/8/12 oz depending on how hungry I am. I tried the spicy goat on pretzel bun and Cuban cow on brioche. The spicy goat was phenomenal the goat cheese paired so well the spicy jam. I'm a sucker for pork so the Cuban cow was also a winner for me. The fries were perfectly crispy as well. We also split the wings to start and the dry rub was so crispy and juicy I highly recommend starting with these. Aside from the food the service was wonderful and the beer choices were super fun! I will be frequenting this place often.

Marjorie A.

Yelp
Awesome burgers. Excellent service, even when they're quite busy. Wonderful vibes. I got the North Carolinian with garlic and rosemary fries. My husband got the Cuban Cow with a turkey patty. We shared an order of the fried goat cheese balls with pepper jelly. Everything tasted delicious.

Yelp
I'm gonna go all the way after two excellent back to back visits at Hops Burger Bar. They have two locations in Greensboro and I've tried both with awesome success. This is a smallish chain but not even close to coverage in a 50. Surface parking is plentiful, however it's a strip with a lot of businesses. So don't expect to park nearby necessarily. The lot was clear of debris. Use their website to get in line, especially recommend on weekends and events times such as when I was in town during both NCAA basketball & swim. The timeline was accurate upon arrival the second time. The first I found bar seating with a friend. A bartender served us immediately and was friendly as hell. The other I was seated at a four top with three friends. Again fantastic service and drinks out immediately. They are known for local craft brews and I found yummy ones. I did not change up orders and got the Hops Burger with potato fries with brews. Food came out quickly and meat prepared to specifications and absolutely delicious! Cannot recommend them more and it's a must when in Greensboro.

Mari B.

Yelp
Been going to this spot for a little while now. Personally, I usually just get the classic burger. Today I tried the Crabby Patty, which comes with one side. This was super good, I was a huge fan. The staff seem friendly too! This spot is close to UNCG campus and relatively close to downtown. I would definitely recommend this place.

K B.

Yelp
Hops on Springarden street in Greensboro has the best hamburgers in the Triad. They have multiple specialty burgers and the small dining environment is excellent. Highly recommend.

Morgan B.

Yelp
The food was delicious and filling. The server was attentive and friendly. I was looking for a local vibe and that's what it gave, I loved it.

Gail C.

Yelp
This was the best dining experience I have had in the last few months. WOW! Service was fantastic. The burger was slightly more medium than medium rare. The sauces and dressing were homemade and delicious. The beer selection is expansive. We certainly will be visiting again.

Dan D.

Yelp
Had lunch at HBB the other day & found it to be Ok. I think I needed to be more adventuresome with my burger ordering. The service was alright, they were kinda busy for the lunch hour, very understandable. Ambience is good: after all, it is a bar plus an enclosed patio, so it's a casual vibe.

Brian F.

Yelp
Nice dinner at the bar. Casual place, friendly staff, very good food. I had the burger special of the night. Really tasty! Plenty of craft beer options also!

Melanie C.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't been here before. The service and food was great. I got the spicy goat and it was delicious!! Full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The side salad was a great size and the ranch was great! I'll be back! Tight parking but there is an overflow lot.

Corrie C.

Yelp
Best burger I've had in a long time. Cooked the way I liked it instead of always medium well or well done. So many toppings to choose from. The pepper jelly and goat cheese go do well together! And check out those onion rings! Amazing beer selection too!

Alexa A.

Yelp
We are a returned customer from out of state, we love their burgers here. I ordered a bison burger and my husband ordered a Turkey burger, both were amazing a prior visit. The service was great, our burgers were perfectly cooked, and the kitchen did a great job not including the allergy item we asked to exclude from our lunch, thank you and that alone gets 5 stars. We highly recommend and we we definitely come back. P.S. The parking sucks but well worth it!

Chris H.

Yelp
Killer Burgers, fish sandwich and onion rings/fries! Great service! Went twice in the last 2 weeks!!

J W.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and wide variety of burger choices. I ended up getting the Carolina Burger which was cooked perfectly. Great choices of drinks to get some nice pairing. Definitely will visit again when in town soon.

Donna S.

Yelp
This place is always good. Sat at the bar. Out beers were cold. The food was great. Service was on point. I ordered the special of the day. It was amazing! Keep it up Hops!

Stacy P.

Yelp
Came here with my son for dinner before a show at the Colosseum. We arrived at 5:15, waited a few minutes and was seated. It was a friday night and it was already crowded. Happy we got a table. I don't remember which type burger I got but it was really good. It was loaded with bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and a fried egg. Perfectly made and delicious. The sweet potato fries were delicious. My son really enjoyed his buyer and fries. Our server was super nice and friendly. He was great with my hyper energetic kid, so extra cool points for service!

C. Y.

Yelp
Reasonably-prices food just tastes BETTER! I crossed the highway from my hotel to get some food and it was well worth it. I ordered a turkey burger and was pleased that for $10 it wasn't a frozen patty. (Would be $15-$20 here in DC.) The servers were pleasant and accommodating.

Kiki H.

Yelp
I returned again today, my 3rd or 4th visit in a month. Take out. I got the build your own turkey burger. I selected red peppers, mushrooms, sautéed onions, avocado and cheese. It was so delicious. I ate it while driving. lol. I couldn't wait. I live over an hour away. There was no way I was waiting. I even licked my fingers. I was tempted to pull over and eat. The staff was pleasant. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted. My order was correct. Parking is available in the front, side and back. I can't wait to return.

Alice L.

Yelp
DO NOT order the white sangria. I'm sure they just threw everything in a glass and served it to me without tasting it. Did not even offer a refund clearly seeing I didn't like it. Stick to the burgers and fries. Those are delicious.

Quaniqua M.

Yelp
Burgers are good. Place seems to stay busy. Even when staff is busy, they acknowledge your presence to ensure you know you've been seen.

Pam T.

Yelp
Good drinks, unique burgers. I knew it was gonna be good when the parking lot and restaurant were full. Attentive staff.

Brian V.

Yelp
In town for the boys soccer tournament. This place came recommended and had phenomenal Elite reviews. We sat on the patio inside a canopy. We started with beers and apps; Carolina Onion Rings, poutine and dry rub chicken wings. I enjoyed all 3 apps. 2 of the 3 adults got the burger special which was a burger with a thick cut of German Bologna, lettuce, tomato, pickles with flavored pork rinds. I enjoyed the my burger even though the bologna could have been crispier. My son got a burger that appeared to be a bit raw for him asking for Medium well. He tried to be a trooper and eat it and regretted it shortly after he went to bed. He definitely rejected that burger which I believed saved him from missing his soccer tournament that started the next morning. The apps, beers and all meals but my sons seemed fine for group. The 3 star rating is because of the request for medium well and the raw inside of the burger. This could have and should have been recognized by the server on her first round after serving. Maybe his burger got switched but it is the restaurants job to provide the right food to the correct customer. There is enough competition that I will eat somewhere else on my next trip to Greensboro to avoid this near debacle. Thanks!

Lucy H.

Yelp
The blonde server with a septum piercing is horrible. Incredibly rude, no eye contact, snarky comments. Her behavior was unbecoming and unprofessional. Food ok.

Rheabird B.

Yelp
I had the Spicy goat burger and onion rings! The waitress was kind and friendly. We Sat outside on a perfect evening!

Ashley S.

Yelp
Hops is a fantastic place to have burgers, or appetizers, or drinks! We sat at the bar and received excellent service. It was fun watching the bartenders make everyone's drinks! We tried the fried cauliflower appetizer. It was really delicious, in a salt and pepper batter with two sauces (sweet and sour and a spicy mustard sauce). I had a pickleback burger with the mushroom and cauliflower patty. The mushroom patty is amazingly savory and delicious! It's a fantastic vegetarian option. My husband had a classic burger with lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a brioche bun. We ordered a key lime cheesecake to go, and it was awesome! We love that they get their breads and desserts from local bakeries!

Adam P.

Yelp
If there's any place that is consistent day in and day out-- it has to be Hop's burger bar. We've been frequenting Hop's since they opened. We've tried it all from the appetizers (wings, fried goat cheese and crab cake balls, onion rings to fried green tomatoes) to the entrees (North Carolinian, hops classic, Cuban to the crabby patty) and nearly every wall-of-fry offering -- all simply delicious. The GOAT aka Spicy Goat is top tier when it comes to sweet and savory. Spicy pepper jelly, goat cheese and applewood bacon may be the greatest trio I've ever had on a burger. Hop's -- you're our favorite! See you again soon.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
One of the best burger places in town, if not the best. Got the College Hill Blues, which comes with Bleu Cheese, sautéed onion and mushrooms, spinach, and a side of house made horseradish Dijon sauce. I'm a sucker for warm bleu cheese, and this was amazing. You can customize burger size, protein type, bun, and cook temp, and even convert your choice of side to a different fry option. The bits of bleu cheese that happened to drop from my burger found a happy resting place atop my fries. I used the horseradish Dijon as a dipping option for my fries so I could keep the burger as it came to the table which was absolutely perfect. The vibe of the restaurant is a bit dark wood decor with a massive bar spanning one side of the restaurant. I heard songs by The Smiths come on while I was there, so it is a relaxed atmosphere. A mix of high top tables and low tables, in addition to bar seating gives it the ability to host all types of people and groups. They even have outdoor seating. Not a massive lunch rush today when I went and our server was attentive but not overbearing at all. The order came out from the kitchen by someone else, but our server came by to check everything was ok. I've been here for dinner as well, and based on the availability of tables, lunch seems to be the time to go, as there's always a wait at dinner. But you definitely can't go wrong by choosing Hops as your place to eat.

Lawrence C.

Yelp
We both had the French onion burger. Mine was with the bun. It was delicious, and a little messy. The dipping sauce was good, but not necessary. The sweet potato fries were good; crunchy outside, soft inside, and a slight cinnamon. Beer selection was quite large. I had a Pernicious, always a good IPA.

Sarah K.

Yelp
This is a renowned burger place in Greensboro for a reason. The food is always good and they have a fun selection of flavorful fries (I'm partial to the truffle oil and Parmesan). The restaurant is a bit small, so there may be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it!

Matthew K.

Yelp
Easily the best burger in Greensboro. I've always enjoyed the space. It has a college bar feel bc it's beside UNCG but the food is amazing and the service is great.

Alicia P.

Yelp
Fantastic!! We loved everything about it and service was great! Definitely try it out if you are in Greensboro!!

Emilee W.

Yelp
Super neat little burger bar that is reasonably priced and has a nice outdoor seating area. The staff were very accommodating and made sure to answer all our questions. The burgers were flavored really well and there was a lot of options and you could even build your own. The bacon on the burgers was crispy which isn't always the case in burger places. The onion rings were delicious I highly recommend them. Parking is a little difficult but other than that everything was wonderful.

lisa j.

Yelp
We stopped in for brunch drinks while waiting for a table next door and had killer service at the bar to perfectly complement a good breakfast beer and spiked coffee. As a vegetarian, I cannot wait to come back and try the house-made mushroom and cauliflower burger!

Chelsea R.

Yelp
Something about the spicy jam with the goat cheese The spicy goat is my go to at Hops. I strive to try a different burger and can never get myself to branch out. Very sad the Winston location closed down but now I'll have to make my way to Greensboro more often.

Ashleigh F.

Yelp
I'm a big burger fan. It's hard for me to not get a burger when I'm out to eat. I got the spicy goat and it was everything I love! Goat cheese and pepper jelly with a perfectly good hamburger I wish I had leftovers haha! We also got the fried goat cheese balls and they were a big hit. Service was great, normal lunch rush on a Sunday. Beer was nice and cold and the drinks were mixed tastefully. Good 1st experience here.

Katherine W.

Yelp
You will not find a better burger joint! Pet friendly for outdoor seating & the BEST burger I have had in my entire life. The drinks and sides were also amazing. Top notch. Customer service was excellent as well -even with them being packed when we went. I was really impressed with this restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

Will R.

Yelp
This location is almost always packed (in a good way). I don't recall the last time I've gotten to eat inside this location so it's always been the location for take out when we do want Hops (the one on Lawndale isn't as packed, at times, and I feel it has a bit more seating). To go orders are packed perfectly in good insulated boxes. Everything we asked for was there including the extra ranch...which was needed. The burger, fries, and wings held up to fair enough temperature by the time you get home. The wings are really good and would recommend the dry rub.

Myia J.

Yelp
Hops never disappoints! The service is wonderful, the selection of beer is wonderful, the burgers and unexpected toppings are wonderful! When I order for lunch it's always ready on time!
