Tropics Ale House Midtown serves very, very yummy food at a great price and has a large and varied menu of beer on tap to choose from. My favorite is the Coconut Hiwa Porter!!! We love the ambiance and we get seated really quickly. The service is great! From pork kahlua to poke, this place serves fresh food fast and you will love it!!! UPDATE: Visited again today for lunch, and it was great! My favorite spot in Sacramento for a meal!

We ended up in town unexpectedly because of weather challenges over the pass to Reno and went tonight with my brother’s family to play DJ Trivia. We could tell the were short staffed but the staff who were there were working hard and still really friendly and helpful. Brandon was our server and he was great. It was busy with ten teams playing trivia, and we were a party of nine. I was impressed by how responsive he was and great with remembering who ordered what in spite of several us swapping seats. Foos was great and the portions were generous. Just go and have fun….especially on a Wednesday for DJ Trivia!

New place (eatery) from knee deep brewing. They have some pretty good food and beer is always good. They got monkey knife fight pale ale and it's really good.

Great service, great food, fair prices, huge servings, strong cocktails. No better way to spend a Monday lunchtime. Yum! We had the avo toast, loco moco, pork tacos, and a burger, all delicious!

Let's start with the good; fast and friendly service plus a ton of great local beer selection. The Bad - the pizza was terrible. I'm starting to see a theme of the west coasts inability to put together a satisfying pie. The Meatzza pizza is the abomination in the pictured; equipped with red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, salami, grilled ground beef (?), and bacon. It's tough to pick a start point to describe this poorly made dish, but the overwhelming feature of being undercooked does no favors it. The cheap out on placing one super thin slice of sandwich pepperoni on each predetermined slice says they are cutting corners on cost. Putting all of the sausage and grilled ground beef in the center not only left it colder than the rest of the pizza but also jazzed up the appearance by giving you a greasy starter bite for every slice. The low cost salami was both tasteless and thinner than a super model from the 80's. I'm presuming there's a tomato sauce shortage on the west coast due to their minimum usage of a base sauce. To make up for all of the short comings the offering, I believe the creator of this cuisine is on a quest to rid Sacramento of vampires with the abundance of garlic. One other pet peeve of mine, why thin cheese out on the crust to burn it and then sprinkle cheese on afterwards...?

This was my second time ordering to go from here. The sandwich i ordered the first time was delicious, the Buffalo cauliflower was great too & the people are very nice. My only complaint would be, i ordered the Cali Caprese and did not receive what was explained online. The “mixed greens” looked like chopped ice berg lettuce & no basil. When I called to confirm it was supposed to be exactly what i got she said yes and people who don’t know what it is think it’s a salad. I’ve had Caprese before but at least it came with basil.

The nicest staff I've met so far in Sacramento, didn't eat, but the beverage choices were numerous

I have not been this happy with food, service, and the environment in quite some time. Excellent!!!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday and found an impeccably clean restaurant and brew pub. Ordered a couple tastes and ended up with the Hoptologist IPA, delicious! Nice pub menu; I ordered the Sacramento Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Served up with fries and a pickle - large, hot, juicy, and great spice level. Not for the weak! Restaurant is large and spacious- my server was very attentive and accommodating! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I liked the vibe in here, it's definitely a fun place to get drinks and I recommend the orange you glad it's creamy beer and the distinguished gimlet. There was a distinct science theme here and there were different trinket/toy things on each table. I wouldn't get the sacra-mental hot chicken sandwich again since I didn't like the chicken breast or the sauce and I didn't like the piggy smalls pizza but if I came back I would give other food items a chance since I like the drinks here. The service was good as well. Definitely check this place out for yourself and I'll be back again.

Yelp
It's a slow start. I like the service and the garlic dies were thick and hot. I visited on a Wednesday, during Trivia. First round was way too much twists and turns and I hated it and almost left. The rest of it was tolerable turned fun. I'll come back and check out other nights. Margaritas were tasty as well. Not a lot of cider choices. The one cherry seltzer ... was ok. Had a medicine taste. Ok. was overall good,

Yelp
The reason I can't give a full 5 starts is because they are often out of stock on certain beers which sucks :( but really liked the food and the inside is nice!

Yelp
We stopped in for a beer and and thought the beer list was ample and varied. They have a ton of knee deep beers which is good and we thought the place was large and inviting. We didn't eat any food as we reviewed their pricing and found it a bit expensive but we also weren't very hungry as it was a mid day stop I'd return for a beer and our server was extremely friendly.

Yelp
Stopped by this new spot that looks to be owned by Knee Deep Brewing Company. The beer selection is full of IPAs and the one I tried did not disappoint! I ordered the Hoplo Escobar.

Yelp
I'm going to miss the tropics but when I saw this place moved into it I knew I had to check it out! I only took a picture of the fried pickles (which were delicious) but we also got 6 piece traditional wings and the fish and chips, all were delicious and even though it's not tropics anymore it's a solid spot with plenty of beers on tap! Will be back for sure.

Yelp
Me and my friends showed up here yesterday around 5:30-5:45pm and the website and google says they are open but they were in fact closed. They need to update business hours or at least post a not or something. I have never tried their food so I can't rate that part.

Yelp
Hoptology is owned by Knee Deep Brewing from Auburn. Parking was tricky because there was a large farmer's market and took about 15 minutes. There was one man behind the bar and a few people at the bar and scattered around. He gave us menus and we were able to pick our table. We ordered a couple of beers, a burger and pulled pork sandwich. The beer menu had a decent variety and the food was pretty tasty, good portions although pulled pork could have used a little more sauce. There's a cool Beeriodic table on a chalkboard towards the back and we played shuffleboard after. The restaurant definitely got busy quickly and a woman started her shift. The customer service was excellent, the original guy was so attentive and helpful and checked on every single party even while he was by himself pouring beers and serving food. The woman was super nice as well. I'd give 5 stars for customer service and ambiance. Food was decent, I wish I could rate this place 4.5 stars, we had a great time!

Yelp
First time at this location, amazing experience. Valerie was extremely attentive and let me sample multiple beers before making my selection. She was very friendly to talk with and guided me in all my menu choices. I also ordered the ABC burger which was incredible, cooked exactly how I wanted. I love the "science theme" they have going on. Great little spot, would highly recommend.

Yelp
The food and beer was hella good. Service was solid. Just found out they are closing soon and that sucks. Dope atmosphere, good food and great beer. They need to move to West Sacramento. Would be the perfect location by the nugget.

Yelp
Happy hour was very short for us, for most of the workers in downtown or midtown, either can't make it to their happy hour, or have like 15 minutes. Wish it ended later.

Yelp
Found this place while on our way to another spot, so glad we stopped! The service was excellent and food was good. Already a fan of Knee Deep Beers so it's a great spot! We will be back!

Yelp
Came for night out with friends and the Trivia! It was so much fun :) great beers, venue, and food was yummy too. Will definitely be coming back for more beer hangs and trivia!

Yelp
I chose this place because it sounded different than a regular bar, and I'm glad we did. Walking in, the vibes were great. The staff are awesome! Very kind and funny. The food and beer selection is fantastic! I will be making this a regular stop in midtown.

Yelp
Really good pub food! We got the wings, Philly cheesesteak, and the chicken sandwich all very yummy. Our server was great and was very helpful with sampling their different selection of beers. Chose the Hola Señor lager. Went to the bar to watch the Kings game, plenty of seating and lots of tvs.
